You can load and spend in the following 10 currencies:

  • Great British Pounds
  • New Zealand Dollars
  • Canadian Dollars
  • Singapore Dollars
  • Hong Kong Dollars
  • Japanese Yen
  • Australian Dollars

You can also use the card wherever Mastercard is accepted, but the current exchange rates will apply if you spend in an unsupported currency. If you're using the card to get cash out, you'll also be charged different ATM withdrawal fees depending on which currency you're withdrawing.

How to load and reload funds

You can load a minimum of $20 and can top up your account anytime and anywhere, but the following fees and restrictions may apply:

  • Online account and Travel Money Oz app. If you reload funds on your card via the online portal or app, you'll be charged 1.1%.
  • BPAY. For BPAY payments, you can use the biller code 184416 and the 16-digit number on your card. If you reload your card via BPAY, you'll be charged a 1% fee and will take two business days to appear in your account.
  • Bank transfer. You want to make a bank transfer directly from your own account, you can use the BSB 880-117 and the 9-digit account number from the "My Account" of the online portal. These will take one business day to appear in your account.
  • In-store. You can reload funds on your card in-store for free at Travel Money Oz, Flight Centre, Travel Associates or Student Flights.

When you load funds on your card and move them into a supported foreign currency, they'll be locked into the current exchange rate.

How to order a Travel Money Oz Currency Pass card

You can order the Travel Money Oz Currency Pass online for free and you'll receive a personalised card within two weeks. If you need your card in less than 14 days, you can order one over the counter at a Travel Money Oz store.

When you apply for the card, you'll be asked to provide some personal details and contacts to meet the necessary identification check.

What if I already have a Travel Money Oz Key to the World Currency Card?

The Travel Money Oz Currency Pass card is replacing the Travel Oz Currency Pass. If you already have a Travel Oz Currency Pass, you can still use it until the expiry date that's printed on the front of your card. This card is no longer available for new applications and you may wish to apply for the Travel Money Oz Currency Pass card instead.

You can use the Travel Money Oz Currency Pass card to spend overseas with ease. As this isn't the only multi-currency prepaid travel card on the market, make sure to compare your options before you apply.

What is the best travel card to use in Iceland?

Avatar

Jhezelyn Finder

Hi Nathalie,

Thank you for your comment.

While we do not have a specific page for travel money to Iceland, you may want to compare some alternative travel money that you can possibly use in Iceland.

Most of the tourists to Iceland use credit cards and it is recommended to bring a credit card with no foreign transaction fees. You can check a range of credit cards for overseas spending .

Please make sure though to read the eligibility criteria, features, and details of the card, as well as the relevant PDS/ T&Cs of the card before making a decision and consider whether the product is right for you.

Regards, Jhezelyn

Important information about this website

Advertiser disclosure.

finder.com.au is one of Australia's leading comparison websites. We are committed to our readers and stands by our editorial principles

We try to take an open and transparent approach and provide a broad-based comparison service. However, you should be aware that while we are an independently owned service, our comparison service does not include all providers or all products available in the market.

Some product issuers may provide products or offer services through multiple brands, associated companies or different labeling arrangements. This can make it difficult for consumers to compare alternatives or identify the companies behind the products. However, we aim to provide information to enable consumers to understand these issues.

How we make money

We make money by featuring products on our site. Compensation received from the providers featured on our site can influence which products we write about as well as where and how products appear on our page, but the order or placement of these products does not influence our assessment or opinions of them, nor is it an endorsement or recommendation for them.

Products marked as 'Top Pick', 'Promoted' or 'Advertisement' are prominently displayed either as a result of a commercial advertising arrangement or to highlight a particular product, provider or feature. Finder may receive remuneration from the Provider if you click on the related link, purchase or enquire about the product. Finder's decision to show a 'promoted' product is neither a recommendation that the product is appropriate for you nor an indication that the product is the best in its category. We encourage you to use the tools and information we provide to compare your options.

Where our site links to particular products or displays 'Go to site' buttons, we may receive a commission, referral fee or payment when you click on those buttons or apply for a product. You can learn more about how we make money .

Sorting and Ranking Products

When products are grouped in a table or list, the order in which they are initially sorted may be influenced by a range of factors including price, fees and discounts; commercial partnerships; product features; and brand popularity. We provide tools so you can sort and filter these lists to highlight features that matter to you.

Travelex vs Travel Money Oz vs S Money

Travelex vs Travel Money Oz

Travelex, Travel Money Oz and S Money all allow Australians to buy currency online. But which one is the cheapest?

While S Money has the best exchange rates, it does have a service fee. This means that to find the cheapest option, you need to look at the total cost of the currency including all the fees.

You can either go to each site and get a quote with each company or use an exchange rate comparison table that includes not just exchange rates, but any service fee too.

While price is important, it's not the only difference between these 3 currency exchange services. Here is a better look at each option:

travel oz rates

S Money is an online only currency exchange, so they don’t have any bricks and mortar stores. If you order online, you can pick up your currency in the CBD or have it delivered within 20k’s of the city for $19. They are the only money exchange that offer the same exchange rate seen on Google or XE but they do charge a service fee.

How S Money stacks up

S Money doesn't have any retail stores like Travelex or Travel Money Oz. While this helps them offer a better rate, it also means that you can't sell them currency, you can only buy currency. It also means that you have to order and pay for your currency online and can't pick up from the Airport like Travelex.

Online, all 3 companies offer 'click and collect. S Money and Travelex offer delivery unlike Travel Money Oz but with Travelex, you can pick up from Australia Post stores or the airport.

If you are in a hurry, S Money is quicker than Travelex and Travel Money Ozwith most orders delivered or ready for pick up the next day.

Travelex and Travel Money Oz have a much bigger range of currencies so if you are looking for Argentine Peso or Vietnamese Dong, they are a better option.

travel oz rates

Travelex is the biggest foreign exchange company in the Australia. They have the biggest range of currencies and collection locations but they aren't aways the cheapest.

Travelex have many locations across Australia. You can order online and collect your currency at a store, an Australia Post office or even the airport. They also offer delivery for online orders.

How Travelex stacks up

Much like Coles and Woolworths, Travelex and Travel Money Oz have a near duopoly in Australia when it comes to currency exchange. So their exchange rates, fees, services and overall offering are very similar.

Compared to S Money, their exchange rates aren't as good but they don't charge a service fee . They have a bigger range of currencies and collection locations including the airport.

travel oz rates

Travel Money Oz has dozens of outlets throughout every state in Australia. They are owned by the Flight Centre and have good, personal in-store service.

How Travel Money Oz stacks up

Travel Money Oz is very similar to Travelex. It has a large network of stores. They both allow you to order a large range of currencies online to collect in-store and both are very large reputable companies. Even their exchange rates are very similar. Online, the experience is almost identical.

Compared to S Money, the big difference is their stores. Travel Money Oz has a huge network of bricks and mortar stores where as S Money is purely online. This also means that S Money has better exchange rates and charge a service fee. S Money also offers delivery for online orders which Travel Money Oz is yet to roll out.

Travelex and Travel Money are incredibly similar in most aspects like exchange rates fees and services.

S Money is difference from both companies because they offer the real online exchange rate and don't charge an exchange rate margin. They do charge a service fee though.

All offer online services but S Money has no stores.

You can buy or sell a big range of currencies at Travel Money Oz and Travelex but at S Money you can only buy the most popular currencies like US dollars, euros, pounds and yen.

Beware using the Bpay number provided on the brochure.i have lost 1000.00 the money never showed up on my travel card. I will pursue this when I get home. I sent 4 emails requesting help from travel money oz, I could not call them as my travel sim card would not allow this. I could only email which they said they would not do. Basically I had no help and no money. Thank goodness I had mt visa card to make purchases. I would not recommend travel money oz. I still need to find my 1000. It's floating in cyber space somewhere. It was supposed to be a trusted BPay site.

A five star experience

Whenever I travel, either here in Australia or overseas ( recent trip to the US) I always use my Travel Money Oz card. Easy to use, super reliable, hassle free transactions. Also, the iPhone app and website are easy to navigate. And while I’m here, I’d like to give a shout out to Brett at the Travel Money Oz kiosk at Stockland’s Hervey Bay- always polite, professional and helpful. Thank you!

Extortionists

These 'ladies' charged over $250 more than the other currency exchange I used that same morning for the same amount of currency converted. Jokes on me for going near Travel Money Oz. When confronted about paying close to 8% more than I should have to use their service they brushed me off and said it was normal practice. Absolutely gobsmacked they can steal so much money for a sub-par service. No clear communication about their dirty exchange rate practices, beware!

Riverlink Branch of Travel Money Oz

Staff at the Riverlink Branch of Travel Money Oz were able to take and exchange money from a trip to Vanuatu. Other institutions I had tried just simply turned me away without a glimmer of help. Staff member was super efficient in sorting my query and even offered advice for future transactions. Time positive as well. That's why I will continue to use Travel Money Oz.

Don’t go here, arrogant, rude staff

Just got off the representative for the Moonee ponds store, who was the most arrogant, discourteous, rude and unprofessional person. This store won’t last if that’s a reflection of quality of staff they have. Hopefully they did record the conversation for training purposes as this member of staff needs. Don’t go there!!!!!

FY 2024 per diem highlights

We establish the per diem rates for the continental United States (CONUS), which includes the 48 contiguous states and the District of Columbia. Federal agencies use the per diem rates to reimburse their employees for subsistence expenses incurred while on official travel.

Federal per diem rates consist of a maximum lodging allowance component and a meals and incidental expenses (M&IE) component. Most of CONUS (approximately 2,600 counties) is covered by the standard rate of $166 ($107 lodging, $59 M&IE). In fiscal year (FY) 2024, there are 302 non-standard areas (NSAs) that have per diem rates higher than the standard rate.

Since FY 2005, we have based the maximum lodging allowances on average daily rate (ADR) data. ADR is a widely accepted lodging industry measure derived from a property's room rental revenue divided by the number of rooms rented. This calculation provides us with the average rate in an area. For more information about how lodging per diem rates are determined, visit Factors Influencing Lodging Rates .

We remind agencies that the Federal Travel Regulation (FTR) allows for actual expense reimbursement when per diem rates are insufficient to meet necessary expenses. Please see FTR § § 301-11.300 through 11.306 for more information.

FY 2024 results

The standard CONUS lodging rate will increase from $98 to $107. All current NSAs will have lodging rates at or above FY 2023 rates. The M&IE per diem tiers for FY 2024 are unchanged at $59-$79, with the standard M&IE rate unchanged at $59.

There are two new NSA locations this year:

  • Huntsville, AL (Madison County)
  • Charles Town, WV (Jefferson County)

The following locations that were NSAs (or part of an established NSA) in FY 2023 will move into the standard CONUS rate category:

  • Hammond / Munster / Merrillville, IN (Lake County)
  • Wichita, KS (Sedgwick County)
  • Baton Rouge, LA (East Baton Rouge Parish)
  • Baltimore County, MD
  • Frederick, MD (Frederick County)
  • East Lansing / Lansing, MI (Ingham and Eaton Counties)
  • Kalamazoo / Battle Creek, MI (Kalamazoo and Calhoun Counties)
  • Eagan/ Burnsville / Mendota Heights, MN (Dakota County)
  • Akron, OH (Summit County)
  • Wooster, OH (Wayne County)
  • Erie, PA (Erie County)
  • Corpus Christi, TX (Nueces County)
  • Round Rock, TX (Williamson County)

Per diem localities with county definitions shall include "all locations within, or entirely surrounded by, the corporate limits of the key city as well as the boundaries of the listed counties, including independent entities located within the boundaries of the key city and the listed counties (unless otherwise listed separately)."

When a military installation or Government - related facility(whether or not specifically named) is located partially within more than one city or county boundary, the applicable per diem rate for the entire installation or facility is the higher of the rates which apply to the cities and / or counties, even though part(s) of such activities may be located outside the defined per diem locality.

ISIS claims responsibility for Moscow concert hall attack that left 40 dead, 100 injured

March 22 (UPI) -- ISIS has claimed responsibility for Friday's deadly attack at Crocus City Hall near Moscow.

State media reported 40 people were killed when several gunman opened fire with automatic weapons at the Crocus City Hall complex in Krasnogorsk, one of Russia's biggest shopping and entertainment centers.

Tass reported a preliminary count from the Russian Foreign Security Service of more than 100 injured.

One attacker then threw a grenade, which exploded and started a fire in the concert hall before a scheduled event.

The Russian Foreign Ministry characterized it as a terrorist attack. Russia's prosecutor general posted on Telegram that officials were investigating the attack.

"On behalf of Igor Krasnov, the prosecutor of the Moscow region has gone to the scene of the incident at Crocus City Hall to coordinate the actions of law enforcement agencies," the prosecutor general's office posted. "Tonight, before the start of the event in the concert hall in Krasnogorsk, unknown men in camouflage clothes broke into the building and started shooting."

Hours after the attack, ISIS released a statement claiming its fighters caused "major destruction" in a "big gathering for Christians in the Russian Moscow suburb."

The popular rock band Picnic was scheduled to play at a sold-out show.

Russian emergency officials said firefighters had evacuated about 100 people from the basement of the building and were attempting to rescue others trapped on the roof, which was beginning to collapse.

More than 320 firefighters and 130 emergency vehicles have responded to the crisis, with three emergency helicopters dumping water on the fire. At least 21 people have been hospitalized.

U.S. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said the White House was working to gather more information on the attack.

"Our thoughts obviously are going to be with the victims of this terrible, terrible shooting attack," he said.

The White House said it found "no indication at this time" of Ukraine's involvement in the attack.

Mykhailo Podolyak, an aide to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said in a post on X that "Ukraine absolutely has nothing to do with these events."

"Ukraine has been fighting with the Russian army for more than two years. And everything in this war will be decided only on the battlefield," the post read.

The U.S. State Department issued a notice to Americans in Moscow to avoid larger gatherings and to stay in contact with the State Department for further updates.

Moscow's mayor Sergei Sobyanin called the shooting a "terrible tragedy" and canceled all "sports, cultural and other mass events" for the weekend in response to the attack.

Public events also were canceled in nearby Podolsk and in the annexed Kherson region of Ukraine.

Yulia Navalnaya, widow of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who died last month in prison, took to X to offer her condolences to the victims of the attack.

"What a nightmare in Crocus," her post read. "Condolences to the families of the victims and quick recovery to the injured. Everyone involved in this crime must be found and held accountable."

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova called on the international community to "condemn this monstrous crime."

Officials from France, Germany and the United Kingdom have condemned the attack, with the German Foreign Office on X calling for the incident to be "investigated quickly."

"Our deepest condolences with the families of the victims," the post read.

The U.K. Russian Embassy called the shooting "a terrible tragedy," and gave condolences to "families and friends of those affected and killed by today's events."

France's foreign ministry said in a statement , "The images reaching us from Moscow are terrible. Our thoughts are with the victims and injured and the Russian people. Full light must be shed on these heinous acts."
