Tour Overview

city of david underground tour

Join us on this City of David Tour and discover the original Jerusalem settlement built over 3,000 years ago, now hidden beneath the ground. We'll start with an overview of Jerusalem from Mount Scopus, where you can look down on an ancient Jewish cemetery, the Garden of Gethsemane, and the Old City. See the Kidron Valley’s ancient Jewish tombs, then enter the Old City through the Zion Gate. Walk through the fascinating Armenian Quarter with its brightly colored ceramics and enter the Old City’s Jewish Quarter. Highlights here include the Byzantine-era Cardo and the iconic Western Wall. We'll stop to place a prayer note in the Wall before leaving the Old City through the Dung Gate. From here, the tour takes you underground to the 3,000-year-old City of David. See the ancient tunnels hewn from rock to bring water to the city thousands of years ago from the Spring of Gihon.

Sites During the Tour

Highlights - city of david tour jerusalem, availability, pickup places and prices, what to expect - city of david tour jerusalem.

The City of David Tour starts as we take in the view of Jerusalem from Mount Scopus. From here we can look down on an ancient Jewish cemetery and beyond the Old City walls to Temple Mount, the site of the Dome of the Rock. On the slope of Mount Scopus, we view the Garden of Gethsemane and the adjacent Church of All Nations with its stunning mosaic façade. The City of David Tour pauses at the Kidron Valley’s ancient Jewish burial tombs then we rejoin the bus and continue on to the Old City. The Jerusalem tour takes us through the Zion Gate into the Old City’s Armenian Quarter where the tour guide will tell us about this unique community and its history. From here the tour continues into the Jewish Quarter to see the excavated 1500-year-old Byzantine-era Cardo, once the main thoroughfare of Jerusalem. Later the Crusaders built shops along this route where modern stores now fill the historic spaces. The highlight of any Jewish Jerusalem tour is the Western Wall; the last surviving part of the Second Temple that was destroyed in 70AD. Jews come from across the globe to pray at the Western Wall (Kotel) and place a prayer note between the wall’s ancient stones. We leave the Old City via the Dung Gate and enter the City of David to tour underground Jerusalem. This excavated city is believed to have been the original settlement in Jerusalem dating back 3,000 years. Ingenious subterranean tunnels were carved out of the rock to bring water from the Gihon Spring to the Pool of Siloam at the City of David. We pause at the Spring of Gihon before concluding the tour. In case a visit to one or more of the Spanish synagogues is not possible, we will visit the Hurva Synagogue instead. Of all the City of David tours available, this one is the absolute best!

  • blancahavila 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Horrible experience with Viator Horrible tour to Valle de Guadalupe We bought a tour to Valle de Guadalupe, from a supposed “Tour company.” They sent us 4 people plus the driver in a 4 persons sedan car, my daughter had to go in the middle for 6 hours. The driver was talking on the phone back and forth, when I told him that I thought it was dangerous for us to do it, he said that he had a lot of experience driving 8 wheelers, so he didn't stop. I don't think it's allowed to take tourists this way. So unprofessional, didn't know anything about the area, he just transported us to the destination in the most uncomfortable and dangerous way. At the last point, the vineyard where they gave us a cheese board, he sat at our table and loudly talked on her cell phone, taking away the only pleasant experience of the entire day. What he did share with us, was all the dangerous places in the area. Although the driver tried, this company is not a professional tour company. We brought a bigger and safer truck, if we had known how bad it would be, we would have left on our own. Read more Written January 1, 2024

This tour was badly organized .First we waited outside the hotel for an hour before we were picked up .No one knew where to go .We thought we were finally starting the trip .But we were taken to this hilly top where we waited another hour in a dingy cafe . The tour was rushed as it was getting late .For lunch everyone is taken to this awful resturant with chaos ,substandard food and fighting crowds . Before going into the resturant you have to go thru a shop and they push coupons to you to buy super expensive products . Guide did not have much knowledge or rather one sided knowledge .We were rushed thru Masada which was the main attraction .I asked him a couple of questions breaking his monologue. He did not like it and was very rude . Do not take this tour .If you do bring your own food . It was a waste of money . Read more Written December 23, 2023

Note: We went on this tour on 10/5, 36 hours before the Hamas attack. We really enjoyed the drive from Jerusalem and the stops that we made. Masada was a very interesting sight to behold. My only suggestion is to cut the time spent in Masada by about 30 minutes so you can spend that extra time at the Dead Sea. We got less than 30 minutes there, which was not enough. We floated in the sea for about five minutes and then had to get out and shower off to leave. Read more Written October 26, 2023

City of David/Hezekiah’s Tunnel & Pool of Siloam

city of david underground tour

Jerusalem (Yeru-shalayim), usually translated from Hebrew as “the City of Peace,” is the crown jewel of Israel that shines at 2,500 feet above sea level. Jerusalem is a large, modern city today, but the “proper” City of David was much smaller. The ancient City of David sat on the narrow ridge of a hilltop, slightly south of what is today called the “Old City.” For over 150 years The City of David has been revealing some of the most important archeological discoveries of the ancient world. During the days of Abraham, some 4,000 years ago, the first foundations of the city were laid by the Jebusites

One thousand years later, King David left the city of Hebron, conquered the Jebusite city, and establish a unified capital of the tribes of Israel in Jerusalem.  Years later, King Solomon, David’s son, built the First Temple north of the city on Mount Moriah, the very site where Abraham offered Isaac to the Lord.

The location for the city that David claimed had two important attributes: fresh water from the Gihon Spring, and the defensive security of being on this steep hillside. The Kidron Valley protected the extremely narrow city on the east, with the west guarded by the Central Valley, and the south by the Hinnom Valley’s merger with the other two.

There are so many sites to see here. A tour of the City of David begins with an observation point of biblical Jerusalem overlooking the Kidron, Central and Hinnom Valleys  As you move through the city you will see archaeological excavations and thrilling biblical finds spanning thousands of years of history including both First and Second Temple Jerusalem. Continue underground to the Gihon Spring, the major water source of Jerusalem for over 1,000 years. From here you can choose to trek through knee deep water in King Hezekiah's 2,700-year-old water tunnel or walk through a dry tunnel immersing yourself in the wonders of early engineering. Then continue to the Shiloah Pool, the major water source in biblical times, and reach the Herodian Road, the ancient thoroughfare that led pilgrims north to the Temple.

Today’s visitor can see the ruins of David’s Palace, discovered in 2005. There are two parts: The Stepped Stone Structure (the Millo) and the Large Stone Structure (2 Samuel 5:7-9, 16:22).

A visit is your passport to the past and biblical Jerusalem.

Hezekiah’s Tunnel

To understand Hezekiah’s Tunnel and to truly appreciate this tremendous feat of engineering, some background is needed. Judah had been reduced by Assyria to a vassal state, as was most of the world, but when Sargon King of Assyria died these suppressed kingdoms rebelled…and were crushed by his son Sennacherib’s armies (Micah 1:8-12).

Hezekiah was the king of Judah at this time (726-697 B.C.), and he refused to pay tribute to Sennacherib (2 Kings 18:7), trusting in an alliance with Egypt instead (Isaiah 36:4-7). The natural response to this rebellion was to invade Judah, which prompted Hezekiah to agree to pay the tribute of 300 talents of silver and 30 talents of gold, but he did so by stripping down the Temple (2 Kings 18:14-16).

This concession was too little, too late, though, and Assyria marched on Jerusalem (Isaiah 36:1-2). Withstanding this siege would require ensuring there would be enough water for the city to survive, which meant a tunnel would need to be dug from the spring (2 Chronicles 32:1-4).

In 1880, a boy discovered an inscription on the tunnel wall while bathing. It has since been removed to the Istanbul Museum, but it explained the rare engineering feat of digging through solid bedrock with picks, axes, and a bucket brigade. It described two teams digging simultaneously from opposite directions:

“And when the tunnel was driven through...the hewers wielded the ax, each man toward his fellow...there was heard a man's voice calling to his fellow...the hewers hacked each toward the other, ax against ax, and the water flowed from the spring to the pool, a distance of 1,200 cubits....”

In 1867, Charles Warren conducted the first excavations of the Temple Mount. Warren is credited with the discovery of the water shaft that brought water from the Gihon Spring into Jerusalem in ancient times. In honor of his work, the shaft was named Warren’s Shaft, as he was the first one to actually walk it  for centuries.

Hezekiah’s Tunnel is a remarkable experience, though not as difficult today as when Warren first discovered it. Still, at 2 feet wide and 5 feet high for much of the tunnel, it can be a bit of a challenge. On a summer day, the 63-degree, spring-fed water is very refreshing, but not advisable during the winter months without a change of clothes, because you will get wet (the water level rises from your ankles to your knees to your waist). Give yourself about 40-60 minutes to wade through the 1,740-foot tunnel and be sure to bring a flashlight or headlamp

If you don’t want to get wet, then you can take the dry Canaanite Tunnel (to the immediate left of the main tunnel), which was used for crop irrigation. It’s narrow, but completely passable. The source of the water’s flow, the Gihon Spring, is also famous as the spot where Solomon was crowned King of Israel (1 Kings 1:38-40). Standing on the very ground where Solomon was anointed king is something you can experience as part of the underground, dry tunnel walk.

You can also walk down the Herodian street (also underground) that myriads of Jews walked up to the Temple from the Pool of Siloam. This is the same path Jesus would have used 2,000 years ago. These tunnels were the last hiding places during the Roman destruction, and excavations in the tunnels revealed a Roman sword in its leather sheath.

The whole tunnel system exposes an aspect of Jerusalem that leaves you astounded at the engineering skill involved. When you consider what it took to complete the construction above ground, what Ilies beneath only adds to the marvel of the City of David.

Pool of Siloam

In 2004, an old Turkish sewage pipe exploded in Jerusalem and during the subsequent repair, two ancient stone steps were found by the construction crew. Normally this would not make much news in Israel, even though it was near Hezekiah’s Tunnel that carries fresh water from the Gihon Spring, but the coins and pottery found dated it from the Second Temple period. It proved to be vastly important as these steps led the excavators down to where John recorded Jesus had healed a blind man (John 9:1-12).

Located south of the City of David, on the west side of the eastern hill, the recently excavated reservoir is shaped like a trapezoid, with three sets of five steps that run for 225 feet alongside it. This massive pool dates to the siege of King Sennacherib of Assyria and King Hezekiah’s famous water tunnel in the 8th century (2 Chronicles 32).

There are two pools that were identified as the Pool of Siloam. The traditional and older Pool of Siloam, now called the Byzantine Pool, was discovered in the 5th century. It is a narrow rectangle that was fed by the waters from Hezekiah's Tunnel. Around 450 A.D., a church was built next to it by the Byzantine empress Eudocia, which the Persians destroyed in 614 AD. Early Christian pilgrims came here to celebrate Jesus' miracle, but it was the wrong pool.

The much larger 2004 Pool of Siloam is about 70 yards away from the older pool, and the actual one that John records in his Gospel. It had disappeared under centuries of winter rains that sent sediment and debris downhill, on top of the destruction from 70 A.D. Before this burial, the pool was an important part of the Feast of Tabernacles.

Jewish pilgrims brought their harvest crops here in a musical procession, waving a palm branch with myrtle tied to it by a golden thread (lulav) in one hand and a citrus fruit (etrog) in the other, to watch the priest draw water from the pool in a golden pitcher, which was then taken to the Temple with great fanfare and trumpets (Leviticus 23:40-40). The High priest would receive it from him and pour it into a basin, with a second pouring of wine into a separate basin while singing praises to God from Psalm 118 (Isaiah 12:3).

It was at this moment, when there was a silent pause in the ceremony, that Jesus revealed Himself as the Sent One, promising “living water” to “save now” those who had “gained their sight” by believing in Him (John 7:37-38). As they sang Psalm 118:22-27, they prophetically confirmed Him as their Messiah,

The Greek word Siloam is derived from the Hebrew word “shiloach,” which means, “sent” Our English equivalent is “apostle,” which means, “sent one.” Interestingly, the Sent One only does two miracles in Jerusalem. Jesus heals a lame man at the Bethesda Pool (John 5:2-9) and a blind man at the pool of Siloam, both of which have added significance to His Davidic identity from 2 Samuel 2:5-8,

The rest of the pool, extending an additional 120 feet, remains buried, The Greek Orthodox Church who owns the property has not allowed the excavation to continue.

FROM THE SCRIPTURES

And David lived in the stronghold and called it the city of David. And David built the city all around from the Millo inward. And David became greater and greater, for the LORD, the God of hosts, was with him (2 Samuel 5:9 ESV).

Awake, awake, put on your strength, O Zion; put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city; for there shall no more come into you the uncircumcised and the unclean. Shake yourself from the dust and arise; be seated, O Jerusalem; loose the bonds from your neck, O captive daughter of Zion. (Isaiah 52:1-2 ESV).

This same Hezekiah closed the upper outlet of the waters of Gihon and directed them down to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all his works (2 Chronicles 32:30 ESV).

The City of David tour

Ask people about the important sites in Jerusalem and they immediately think about the Dome of the Rock, the Western Wall, and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

But ancient Jerusalem, the Jerusalem of the Bible, the Jerusalem of King David, actually lies outside the Old City.

Today it is one of the most important archaeological sites in the world.

The City of David tour – Different routes

There are several tours you can do around this site. You need to be aware of a few things before you come and buy your ticket.

The free tour of the City of David + the Davidson Center

The City of David is not a typical archaeological site as it is located in a neighborhood where people live.

You can visit some of the sites for free: the lookout, the Palace of King David, the Royal Quarter and the Tombs Lookout. In my City of David tour, you can go as far as stop no. 7 without buying a ticket.

From the Tombs Lookout, you can either go back up or continue down to the water system. However, in order to enter the water system, you will have to buy a ticket at the entrance to the site.

city of david underground tour

If you’ve finished the free part of the tour and don’t want to continue into the water system, you have two options.

You can go back to the Old City or you can buy a ticket for the Davidson Center at the City of David ticket office.

If you buy this ticket, you then walk through the Givati parking lot, enter the drainage system in the middle and exit at the Davidson Center. (See the map)

Let me explain. The Davidson Center is a separate site located inside the Old City. It is in the area which was called ‘HaOfel’, which means ‘the ascent’ – the area next to the Southern Wall of the Temple Mount.

This was the main entrance to the Jewish Temple at the time of the Second Temple. Outside the walls of the Old City, there was a parking lot called Givaty parking lot. In 2007, archaeologists from the City of David started to excavate here and today it is still an active archaeological site.

You can buy tickets for the Davidson Center in the City of David and then walk from the Palace of King David to the excavation at the Givaty parking lot and from there enter the last part of the underground drainage system.

You walk under the walls of the Old City and exit the tunnel at the Davidson Center, right next to the corner of the Western Wall and the Southern Wall.

The Water System tour

The City of David is no different from most of the archaeological sites in Israel in that the site itself is not that impressive.

I have been to the Palace of King David with tourists plenty of times and I have never heard anyone say that it’s a beautiful place.

In most of the archaeological sites, you need a guide to explain to you the significance of the stones in front of you.

It is only when you get to the water systems that you are really impressed. In fact, it was only when Charles Warren crawled through the water system that he realized he had found ancient Jerusalem. There are a few underground tunnels in the City of David. The first one was built by the Cananites, more than 3,000 years ago, in order to safely walk from the city to the spring.

The spring was outside the city, at a lower level, next to the fields. There was a guard tower to protect the spring and the pool next to it.

It is still not very clear to us, but it seems that King David’s men probably conquered the city by entering it via the water system.

city of david underground tour

Two tunnels lead out from the spring. Today they are known as the dry and the wet tunnel.

The tunnel which today is known as the dry tunnel was also built by the Canaanites to irrigate the fields. The tunnel was modified over the years and used until the end of the 8th century BC, the time of King Hezekiah.

As Hezekiah was preparing for the siege of the Assyrians he sealed up the Canaanite tunnel and ordered the construction of a tunnel that would bring the water to a pool inside the city.

Water still runs through this tunnel, 2,700 years after it was constructed.

You can choose whether you want to walk through this tunnel, with water that flows up to your knees, or walk through the dry tunnel.  If you choose to walk through the water, bring extra sandals and pants .

The Siloam Pool – End of City of David tour #1

Both tunnels eventually lead to the Siloam Pool.

Like everything in Jerusalem, every structure and every pool has many different layers and many different names.

The Siloam Pool is located in a valley between two hills so there was a pool there from the time of the Canaanites. Later, Hezekiah’s Tunnel brought the water to a different pool in the area. 1,700 years later, King Herod turned it into a huge ritual bath, where Jews purified themselves before ascending to the Temple.

This is where, according to the New Testament, Jesus healed a blind man.

city of david underground tour

From here you can take a shuttle bus to the entrance of the City of David. It costs 5 shekels per person.

The drainage tunnel – End of the City of David tour #2

King Herod didn’t only build the Siloam Pool and renovate the Temple, he also built a road connecting the two.

Archaeologists are now uncovering this ancient street, and until they have finished doing so, you can walk up through the drainage system that was beneath this paved street. It is not an easy path to walk.

You can walk along it until the Givati parking lot and then exit the site right in front of the entrance to the City of David.

city of david underground tour

The drainage tunnel and the Davidson Center – End of the City of David tour #3

As you walk along the drainage tunnel, you will eventually come to a closed metal door and a staircase.

You can take the stairs to the Givati parking lot, or, if you paid for the Davidson Center at the entrance of the City of David, then you can press the button next to the door.

The cashier will ask you to show your ticket to the camera and then (s)he will unlock the door and you can continue to walk along the drainage tunnel.

You will see a sign saying that the walls of the Old City are above you. Keep walking until you will see the foundation stones of the Western Wall, then exit and come out to see the corner of the Western Wall and the Southern Wall.

This archaeological park is part of the Davidson Center.

Tour Details

Moscow metro tour: architectural styles of the subway.

city of david underground tour

Duration: 2 hours

Categories: Culture & History, Sightseeing

This metro tour of Russia’s capital and most populous city, Moscow, is your chance to get a unique insight into the beautiful and impressive architecture of the city's underground stations. Admire their marble walls and high ceilings representing Stalin's desire for glory after World War 2, and see first-hand how the interiors change with the rise of new political eras. Your guide will lead you through the complex network, which is one of the most heavily used rapid transit systems worldwide, with over two billion travelers in 2011.

Opened in 1935, Moscow’s underground system, now 190 miles (305 km) long with 185 stations, is today one the largest and most heavily used rapid transit systems in the world. On this Moscow metro tour, discover the impressive architecture of Moscow’s underground stations and learn how they reflect the Soviet era.

Getting around by metro, your local guide will take you through parts of Moscow’s infamous history. Stop at stations built during the time of the USSR (Soviet Union) that are praised as one of the most extravagant architectural projects from Stalin’s time. After World War 2, he was keen on establishing Stalinist architecture to represent his rising regime and a recognized empire. Learn how when his successor started the de-Stalinization of the former Soviet Union in 1953, the extravagancy of the architecture was toned down.

Discover how the unique character of each station reflected several different eras. While stations like Kievskaya and Slavyansky Bulvar have pompous halls and high stucco ceilings brimming with extravagant decorations, those built later, like Volzhskaya, are lightly adorned with sparse furnishings. Architect Alexey Dushkin and painter Alexander Deyneka were just two of the many artists who made these magnificent landmarks possible.

Revel in Moscow's glory days, as well as the years of scarcity, on this fascinating Moscow metro experience. Conclude your tour at one of the central stations in Moscow. If you're lucky, you may even find the secret entrance to the unconfirmed Metro-2, a parallel underground system used by the government -- a mystery which has neither been denied nor confirmed today.

Culture Shock Rating

We have a wide range of tours designed to give you an insight into the destination you're travelling in and there is something for everybody. The culture shock ratings considers the destination visited, transport used, activities undertaken and that "Wow, I'm really not at home now!" factor. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

This is the least confronting of our tour range. Transport used on the trip is either private or a very comfortable public option, the activities included are usually iconic sites and locations that are not all too confronting.

The tour can include a mix of private and public transport providing a level of comfort that is slightly below what you would experience at home. Sites visited are usually iconic sites, tours can also include market visits, visits to communities etc that provide the traveller with a fantastic insight into destination.

Expect to rough it for parts of this tour, whether it's a packed public bus where you are forced to stand, a visit to a local market, a local community, you are sure to have an experience that is very different from what you're used to at home.

The comforts of your home town and the environment you are used to are more of a rarity. Expect some challenging transport options, visits to local sites and areas that don't resemble anything at home.

You're out there in the global community! You are likely to be exposed to the elements, travel in whatever means of transport is available and basically take it as it comes, whatever comes! It can be tough.

Physical Rating

Our physical rating gives you an idea of how much huffing and puffing you can expect on the tour. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

These tours have very limited physical activity. Usually climbing in and out of the transport provided, walking through sites, markets etc included in the itinerary.

These tours have a bit of physical activity but nothing that should challenge you too much. This could be climbing on and off public transport through to a walk through the destination you're travelling in, they can include walking only tours or a combination of walking and transport.

These tours involve a bit of physical activity from walking up and down hills in the destination you're travelling in or the surrounding areas. Climbing on and off local transport or riding a bike up to 30 kms along predominantly flat terrain or jumping in a kayak for a gentle paddle on flat water.

These Tours will provide you with some solid physical activity. Whether its bike riding, walking, trekking, kayaking or riding on public transport you will need to have a good level of fitness to enjoy this tour.

Be prepared for some serious physical activity. These tours are our most challenging and involve some serious walking, hiking or bike riding. Can involve step climbs by foot or pedal and some challenging public transport options in the destination you are travelling.

Luxury Rating

Some trips are like a stroll on the beach, while others have you trekking alpine passes. Some of you thrive on camping out on the savannah, while others may prefer a hot shower and a comfortable bed in a lodge. Follow the grading systems below to find the right trip for you.

To help you choose the trip that's right for you, we've broken all of our trips down into four service levels. Measuring the comfort level of the accommodation and transport. So whether you're travelling on a budget and want to save money by using public transport, or prefer upgraded accommodation and are happy to pay a little more, then we have a level for you.

עיר דוד

The City of David makes complete your visit to Jerusalem, you see heavenly wonders that are hidden in the City of David, the pool of Shiloam and the the Hezekiah Tunnel is a must see. I’ll visit again soon. Shalom.

Amazing. A must when in Jerusalem. Walking through the 500+ meter water tunnel from the 8th century BC is an incredible, one-of-a-kind experience not to be missed.

My husband and I came with 5 kids ages 4 to 10. We didnt hire a guide but followed the maps. It was awesome!!! The kids insisted on following the wet trail (cave with water about 550 meters). We weren't prepared for a water hike so we got wet but it was a lot of fun! In the israeli August heat it was amazing and refreshing and we all had a lot of fun. Bring a flash light as the cave is dark. The water trail is not suitable for kids in strollers or babies as you cant carry the babies easily in the cave (at points its narrow, low and you have to hunch down).

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!
