The Vamps announce global dates for ‘Greatest Hits’ 10th anniversary tour

The Vamps are taking their ‘Greatest Hits’ 10th anniversary show on the road.

The boyband is celebrating a decade since they formed with a string of UK dates this autumn, which they’ll take internationally next spring.

The Vamps tease sixth studio album amid 10th anniversary celebrations: ‘Our approach will be different’

“We are so excited to announce we will be bringing our 10 Year Anniversary Greatest Hits tour to Australia, Asia and Europe next year,” they said in an announcement.

“It’s been a while since we’ve been back to see some of you and it’s going to be a blast.”

Beginning February 1 in Brisbane, Australia, the boys will perform a mammoth run of dates before wrapping in Warsaw, Poland on March 27.

For on sale dates, head over to The Vamps’ social media pages.

The group, which formed in 2012 and released debut album ‘Meet The Vamps’ in 2014, have delivered five albums over the past seven years, including chart-toppers ‘Night & Day (Night Edition)’ and ‘Cherry Blossom’.

Speaking in the September 2022 edition of Retro Pop, the group revealed plans to begin work on a new LP in 2023.

“It’s open ended, but I think we’ll start writing what will be the sixth album in the middle of next year,” says Bradley Simpson. “That’s the loose idea at the moment. We are best friends, so we look forward to getting in the studio together.

“On the last album, we did Airbnbs, so we’d book a week away together, take the studio with us, and it’s just fun. It’s work, but it’s a holiday too.”

However, they insist there’s no pressure to return to the studio and, when it come to the group’s future output, they’re planning to take their time and enjoy the process.

“A lot of bands wouldn’t put out five albums in the space of seven years,” he adds. “So I think there are certain things that we’ve looked back on over the past 10 years that we’re really glad that we did, but our approach to albums will be different now and it’ll maybe be at a slower pace.”

The group’s 10th anniversary tour will be a celebration of a decade of hits, and Tristan Evans is looking forward to revisiting some of their lesser-performed material.

“This is, for us, an excuse to play all of our songs together,” he beams. “This is like the ‘Today’s Top Hits’ playlist for The Vamps.

“Before, we’ve only promoted specific albums, but for this one, it’s like this is ‘The Vamps show’, so technically it’s like the first Vamps tour we’ve ever done.”

The Vamps have taken us across all five continents and given us the privilege of playing in front of millions of people. These five albums are chapters in our lives and moments we are hugely proud of. THE VAMPS IN CONCERT: Since their formation in 2012, British pop rock outfit the Vamps have quickly captured the hearts and minds of fans around the world with their upbeat sound and boyish good looks. The band's animated live shows match the chipper mood of their recordings, and frontman Brad Simpson's infectious energy never fails to get fans pumped up on party-worthy tracks like "Can We Dance" and "Last Night". Hot on the heels of their 2014 debut full-length Meet the Vamps, the boys will treat ticket buyers to another round of unforgettable performances on tour with Austin Mahone. BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT: In 2011 guitarist James McVey and singer Brad Simpson became friends via YouTube and began writing songs together. After recruiting bassist Connor Ball and drummer Tristan Evans they formed the Vamps and began uploading catchy cover songs to the web. The band quickly became a sensation as their YouTube views skyrocketed into the millions, and before long viral fame gave way to chart success. Their 2013 debut single "Can We Dance" landed at No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart, and was quickly followed up in 2014 with the Top 3 hits "Wild Heart" and "Last Night". Those wildly popular singles propelled the band's full-length debut album Meet the Vamps onto the charts in 10 countries and landed them supporting slots on tour with Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, and the Wanted. Already an established live presence in their native UK, the Vamps will treat US fans to their buoyant live show on tour with Austin Mahone in summer 2014.

The Vamps, New Hope Club, and HRVY are amazing!!

I was absolutely blown away by this concert. The opening act, New Hope Club, was insanely cool and unforgettable. HRVY was super entertaining and the dancers were great. Also great song choices by the artists. The Vamps were incredibly exciting and I had the best time I could ask for.

The Vamps ROCKED The Paradise!

Great opening acts and the amazing Vamps put on a non-stop awesome show!

The VAMPS put on a great Show!

Went to see the Vamps play at the TLA in Philly. Great crowd and great show! The energy in to room electric! I didn't know they had so many fans in the states. I love that they personalized their comments so you knew they were glad to be in Philly! LIke they told us where they were going for cheese steaks after the show. Loved this! They did old classics and ended with new songs. Encore was of course their more known recognizable songs. Had a great time, I would see them again!

THE VAMPS PUT ON QUITE A SHOW

Their energy is unmatchable. I've waited years to see them perform and it was worth the wait. They performed a great mix of old and new songs, as well as a few "non-singles" from their most recent album, which was great. I was sad for the concert to end. The tour bus was parked in front of the venue so I got to see Brad and James up close. I've seen hundreds of youtube clips of their arena tours with the fire, lights, catwalk, etc. It was cool to see them up close in a small venue. The vocals and instrumental aspects were both on point!! They are goofy and serious about music all at once. They really try to connect with their fans during the performance too.

The Vamps and Fillmore were AWESOME

The concert was crazy great! The venue is in a good location, convenient to hotels and food. We would absolutely attend another concert here. We hope The Vamps and New Hope Club return there next year!!

15/10 show; the Vamps were amazing live and I would recommend that everyone go see them. I also think that Paradise Rock Club is one of the best venues in Boston, it is very intimate and a great way to see your favorite band.

The concert was AMAZING! The sound was great too!!

I had VIP as well and I thought everything was fair regarding that. The concert was amazing and unforgettable!!!

Best show ever

This was the best concert ever, so glad I finally got to see them. The opening act was great too!

Vamps tickets for daughter

I bought these Vamp tickets for my daughter who liked the opening act of New hope Club. She liked the Vamps as well. She enjoyed both acts but did not think the concert was the best it could have been . She thought the song choices for both acts could have been better. As to the venue, the small setting was great to be so close to the acts but because of her height she was unable to see very well.

The Vamps

Brad Simpson, Tristan Evans, James Brittain-McVey and Connor Ball are set to celebrate 10 years as The Vamps by celebrating their achievements across the past decade with Greatest Hits Arena Tour.

The foursome, who got together in 2012, have achieved huge success in the past 10 years, after kicking off their career thanks to YouTube.

They’ve since generated over six billion streams, over two billion views on the band’s YouTube channel, released five albums including two number ones with 2017’s Night & Day (Night Edition) and 2020’s Cherry Blossom, and became the first band to headline London ’s O2 five years in a row.

So what better time to sit down with James, Brad, Connor and Tristan to take a look back at the past 10 years of The Vamps?

Take us back to 2012 – how did it all begin?

Brad: ‘It all started when me and James met after he found me online. We met at my house in Birmingham and we started writing songs together and we just clicked.

READING, ENGLAND - JUNE 01: Bradley Will-Simpson and Tristan Evans of the band The Vamps perform on stage at Allstarz Summer Party 2013 at Madejski Stadium on June 1, 2013 in Reading, England. (Photo by Andy Sheppard/Redferns via Getty Images)

‘We started doing covers of bands on YouTube, which started to get a bit of traction. We met Connor the exact same way through YouTube, we saw a cover that he was doing and we loved it and thus the band was formed.

‘During that process, we got a record deal to Mercury Records and began writing our first album in amongst doing all these covers. So whilst we were working on our album behind the scenes, we were trying our best to garner a global fan base and start reaching out to people as far and as wide as we could.’

You guys started out on YouTube, but the landscape of social media has changed so much. How did you harness the power of that platform to your benefit at the time?

Brad: ‘The music industry has changed a lot in the 10 years that we’ve also been about. And YouTube was very interesting, because as with TikTok now, whatever you were creating, you had to do something that stood out and gave you a USP, because there was so much noise on there.

‘So we were trying to do covers of big songs in a way that sounded like The Vamps, we made them feel like our songs in a way that really influenced how our first album sounded, because we started to already build a sound as an acoustic driven pop band.’

When did you first realise that The Vamps was going to be a success?

James: ‘I have quite a vivid memory of walking to the pub in Dorset. I think it was with either Tristan or Brad, I can’t remember. It was the week after we were filmed busking outside a record label and I remember looking at our follower count going up like, on a Saturday night just watching that, and literally every time we refreshed it we’d have like another like two followers, which was kind of crazy.

‘There’s also moments like when we did a performance at Westfield in White City quite early on in the band and around 500 people came. That was, I think, the first performance that we’d ever done and that was kind of crazy, having people actually come to something.

‘Another moment that also made us think “S**t, this is actually working” was the first time we got over 100,000 views on a video for a One Direction cover. There’s definitely a few moments in that infancy period that that jump out for sure.’

With social media being such a huge part of the start of the band, how has your relationship with it changed over the years?

Tristan: ‘Personally, for me,  I don’t really let people know what I’m doing every day. I think it’s because I just want to enjoy the moment rather than go straight to recording it.

‘There’s positives and negatives to that, obviously, as I don’t show the world the exciting moments, but I also kind of keep them to myself. So I’m still not sure what the right decision is, but for me my happiness, I think it’s kind of nice to keep what I’m doing on that day to myself in a weird way.

‘I do love to get involved when I can and when I’ve actually remembered to take it but I’m actually quite bad at reminding people of what’s going on.’

James: ‘I made the decision pretty early on to just be transparent with absolutely everything in my life, good and bad, and the main reason I did that is so I couldn’t be caught out or feel like it was an invasion of my privacy.

‘There are limits, like people turning up at my parents’ house is a little bit too much. But like, my relationship with my wife, issues that I’ve had, moments of celebration, I think I’d rather just give everyone everything so that I don’t feel that tension to try and hide away from it.

‘But what I would say is that I’m getting to a point in life now where I’m really frustrated that social media has somehow become like the currency of life and that’s what people use to qualify success.

‘Every day, for the past 10 years, I’ve done something on social media for The Vamps or for myself, so I’m getting to the point where I’m just gonna maybe stop using it altogether, just maybe delete it and try and actually live life for myself, as opposed to living life for social media.’

While you guys show us a lot of your lives, what tour memories stand out for you that didn’t make it onto social media?

Tristan: ‘Manila was quite cool the first time we went and we played this amazing arena. Plus, we had this really funny night out where we stayed in the hotel in the rooftop bar and we just ended up partying with the staff.’

Brad: ‘There was the cast of a production of Beauty and the Beast which we didn’t realise at the time, but later in the night we were partying and thought “B***dy hell, these guys are very good dancers,” and then it transpired that they were the spoons and the forks in Beauty and the Beast! It was a hell of a night.’

Connor, you could have impressed them with your Dancing On Ice moves!

Co nnor: ‘To be fair, I didn’t really do much dancing – I just skated and tried to do as little of the  actual dancing as I could because I’m not good at that and I’ll admit that.’

Tristan: ‘I don’t know about that – I beg to differ!’

Connor: ‘That was the one thing I struggled with actually. And not to sound like an alcoholic but I couldn’t have a drink before we’d skate like when we do a show to get rid of the nerves.

‘I still managed to break the record for the most amount of stitches they gave a contestant in one series. I have a lot of scars.

‘I’ve not been skating once since the show finished, which is quite sad because I did enjoy it a lot. But I don’t trust myself anymore.’

You guys are heading out on the road later in the year – what can we expect from the tour now the scars have healed up?

Brad: ‘We’ve never done a tour where we haven’t got an album that we’re either promoting or jumping off the back of, so this is purely a celebration of the five albums that we’ve done as well as the EP.

‘So there’s a lot of music there that we can pick and choose from, we’re going to get the fans involved so they can help choose the setlist every night.

‘There’s a lot of people who feel part of this 10 year journey with us, so for them too, it’s a celebration of certain moments in their lives that our music has narrated.

Programme Name: Strictly Come Dancing - TX: 15/11/2020 - Episode: Results show 4 (No. n/a) - Picture Shows: RESULTS SHOW **STRICTLY EMBARGOED until 2010hrs Sunday 15th November 2020** The Vamps - (C) BBC - Photographer: Guy Levy

‘So these fans may have been going through big points of turmoil or big changes or happy moments, and our music, very gratefully has been the soundtrack to those moments, so it’s about celebrating all of that and just having two hours of fun, fireworks and flames.’

Tristan: ‘It’s gonna be a big, big, big show, like biggest show we’ve ever done. So we wouldn’t want anyone to miss it, it’s gonna be really sick.’

How much does it mean to you all to have been the soundtrack to your fans’ lives in this way?

Connor: ‘There’s a lot of tattoos which we’ve written over the years and they’re like song lyrics or titles and things like that, which I think is really special that they’d want to take something that we’ve created and put it there on their bodies forever. It’s just pretty cool.’

You’ve worked with some incredible people over the years, what’s the best advice you have been given during the past 10 years?

Tristan: ‘I spoke to Taylor [Swift’s] mum, I remember I was just really young, very early in our career, and I was speaking to her quite naively I’d say, and she kind of corrected me, saying that “you shouldn’t rely on these people, you should really just focus on how you’re gonna make it happen and just pretend like you’re the only person in your team,” so that was pretty cool.’

Vamps interview - Friday

Following the 10 year anniversary tour, when can we look forward to new music?

James: ‘At some point! But I think like we’ve done five albums and and EP in a pretty short space of time, compared to other bands who’d usually do about three albums in that time.

‘So I think we’re gonna do something with it being 10 years of The Vamps, there may be something coming, but I think new music may be a couple of years off, which I imagine for any other band is quite a normal thing to hear, but I think for a Vamps fan that’s a longer break.

‘But I think we just need some time to live, especially after having a couple of years with the pandemic we’ve not really been able to do that much, so I think we need to live and then write about it for a bit.’

Promise us you’re not going to pull a One Direction-style hiatus on us and never come back?

Brad: ‘Absolutely not! I think we’re conscious of always feeding the fans – we’re gonna have things over the next few years, if it’s not new music, it will be stuff that keeps people engaged and is exciting for a Vamps fan. There’ll be stuff going on.’

Live review: the vamps continue their ‘greatest hits’ world tour with the second of two sold-out nights in manchester (23/11/2022).

greatest hits world tour the vamps

Dedicated fans, for whom this tour was particularly sentimental as it paid due tribute to the band’s hugely successful career so far, had been lining the streets around O2 Apollo Manchester for hours prior to the doors opening, in a bid to win a greatly coveted spot close to the stage. When the doors did finally open, a welcome relief after hours stood in the wintery weather, the energy between fans was tangible as we waited in anticipation for the show to begin.

The Vamps treated us to two support acts prior to their own performance, the first being TikTok singer-songwriter  Henry Moodie . The eighteen-year-old showed no signs of nerves as he performed his original song ‘you were there for me’ whilst playing guitar, as well as a cover of  Taylor Swift ’s ‘Blank Space’, which proved a hit with the Swifties in the audience.

Then it was the turn of American alt-pop band  The Aces , whose tracks ‘Daydream’ and ‘My Phone Is Trying to Kill Me’ from their 2020 album ' Under My Influence' . With their catchy instrumentals and edgy vocals by lead singer  Cristal Ramirez , The Aces successfully warmed up the crowd, starting with ‘Girls Make Me Wanna Die’, which has a sound reminiscent of  The Smiths . Since their formation in 2008, the band have worked tirelessly to spread their music through social media, particularly YouTube, and so their set with The Vamps may well prove to be the making of their career.

The main attraction themselves quickly followed The Aces’ performance: the lighting changed to give the audience a glimpse of the band’s silhouettes, while drummer  Tristan Evans  delivered an electric introduction of powerful beats which quickly led to the curtains dropping to reveal the band, and to the familiar opening of ‘Last Night ’, a realisation which was of course accompanied by a rise in the excited screams of the crowd.

The setlist opened with some of the band’s older songs: ‘Last Night’, ‘Girls on TV’ , ‘Rest Your Love’, and ‘Cheater’ , before frontman  Brad Simpson  took a moment to welcome us all and express his gratitude to the fans who have supported the band over the last decade. He is without a doubt the perfect frontman; his energy, which never seemed to wane even as the setlist neared the end, and his deferential manner suit the nature of the band perfectly, and the way he interacts with fans, gesturing and speaking to them throughout the show, proves just how genuinely grateful the band are for the support they have received during their career so far.

The setlist as a whole was flawless, and was interspersed with friendly banter between bandmates and a real sense of enjoyment by the band: it was clear that they truly love what they do. Treating us to a performance of their new Christmas single ‘Seat At The Table’, dedicated to remembering loved ones who are no longer with us over the Christmas period, with a powerful piano accompaniment, Simpson admitted to getting emotional as the first lines were sung, having to take a second to collect himself before continuing.

The band also gave a stripped-back rendition of ‘ Middle of the Night’ , a single released back in 2017 along with Danish DJ  Martin Jensen , which allowed guitarists  Connor Ball  and  James McVey  to shine as they delivered the tricky guitar riffs that characterise the song.

Speaking to the crowd right before another stripped-back performance, this time of ‘Wake Up’ , whose lyrics  “When you thought there was no one / I was still right  here” took on a whole new meaning as they were sang so intimately between band and fans alike, Simpson said:

“To get to ten years as a band is a huge, huge thing, and I don’t mean that on our behalf, I mean that to be able to get to come back to places like this, and to get to play shows like this two nights in a row, ten years into our career… we are so unbelievably grateful for every single one of you for all of your support.  […]  We  [The Vamps and their fans]  have literally grown up together.”

The show was without a doubt one for the books; synthesising songs from their very first album ' Meet The Vamps' , released when they were only in their mid-teens, right up until their 2020 album ' Cherry Blossom'  which marked a shift towards a more edgy and indie sound for the band, as well as sharing a nostalgic look back at their career through a heartfelt video created by the band and their team, The ‘Greatest Hits ’ World Tour proved itself to be the perfect celebration of the last ten years, and something which will be etched in the memories of the band and their fans forever.

The Vamps: Greatest Hits World Tour

The Vamps

Time Out says

It’s been a decade since British pop band The Vamps made their mark on the global music scene. When they first came out, the group was cast as four heartthrobs playing pop rock tunes that would appeal to teenagers. But their latest album, Cherry Blossom, reveals more mature lyrics and more refined sounds.

The quartet is now on the road for their Greatest Hits World Tour in celebration of their 10th anniversary. In Bangkok, the band will be playing on 10 February at Samyan Mitrtown Hall.

Tickets are priced at B2,200 and B2,800, and are on sale via Thaiticketmajor .

  • There’s also been ice skating competitions, jungles, driving lessons and dating shows!

It’s time to celebrate!

“It’s crazy to think what started in our bedrooms and Tristan’s parent’s garage led to us headlining arena’s all around the world. The Vamps have taken us across all five continents and given us the privilege of playing in front of millions of people. These five albums are chapters in our lives and moments we are hugely proud of. This last year has been one of reflection for us and as four best friends who’ve had the chance to live out our dreams we now can’t wait to celebrate these memories with you all.”
