Marcus Mumford Teases Mumford & Sons Reunion—”The Band Isn’t Broken Up”
by Alli Patton November 27, 2022, 12:16 pm
Singer-songwriter Marcus Mumford has been riding high since the release of his self-titled debut solo album , but the Mumford & Sons frontman recently teased more to come from the beloved indie-folk band.

Appearing on a Nov. 27 episode of NBC’s Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist , the artist talked about the success of his solo project and the fate of his band.
“The band isn’t broken up,” Mumford stated during the interview, setting the record straight. He continued to hint at new music from the group. “The next thing really is to get in the room with the boys in the band and start playing each other the songs we’ve written.
“I’ve got a bunch that are kind of ready to go,” he added. “And then we’ll make a record, and tour it, and get to do what we love. It’s pretty cool.”
See a clip from the interview, below.
A new Mumford & Sons album would mean the band’s fifth, their first release since the 2018 LP, Delta . When they reconvene for music making, the band will rejoin as a trio following the departure of longtime guitarist and banjo player Winston Marshall.
“On Delta , the boys are pondering ageless mysteries but ultimately realize that the search is what counts,” reads American Songwriter’s review of the band’s last release. “People will relate to the universal doubts and fears that are often stirringly evoked by the music and lyrics on Delta . Mumford & Sons know their strengths and they play to them well here, proving that too much catharsis is better than not enough.”
A similar catharsis is sought in the frontman’s solo album, which dropped this past September. An album that deals with the sexual abuse he suffered as a child , Marcus Mumford has provided an outlet to process and heal. “Some of the areas in which I was trying to make that shame go away just led to more shame for me,” Mumford shared in a past interview. “And now being able to pick those apart a little bit and, like, chip away at the layers of it is why I feel kind of free, more free than I have in a long time.”

“Even Referring to Myself as an Artist Used to Make My Skin Crawl”: Marcus Mumford on His Solo Album and Coming to Terms With the Past
By Erin Vanderhoof
Late last month, Marcus Mumford, the 35-year-old frontman of the British folk-pop band Mumford & Sons, was in Los Angeles coming to terms with a little dilemma. Over the last year and a half, he recorded a solo album, out this week and appropriately called (Self-Titled), and had assembled a band to go on a solo tour across America, Ireland, and the UK. But he hadn’t yet figured out how they were going to translate the spacious, moody music into a live show.
For a musician who got his start by putting his live performances first, it was a daunting task, but he was also looking on the bright side. “The band that I’ve assembled are a bunch of absolute genius musicians,” Mumford said in an interview. “That’s really exciting to me.”
The 10-week tour will be his first big outing since the pandemic. He spent the early phase of lockdown at his home in Devon with his wife of 10 years, the actor Carey Mulligan, and their two children, Evelyn Grace and Wilfred. Writing a solo album wasn’t always in the cards for Mumford, but during his time at home he wrote “Cannibal,” a song about an experience he hadn’t really told anyone about, being sexually abused as a child. It happened when he was six, but last month he told GQ that he didn’t actually even tell his mother until she heard the song for the first time.
Mumford said that the song came at the end of a much longer healing practice, and it is definitely explicit. He showed “Cannibal” to the prolific songwriter and producer Blake Mills, and they started working to shape an album unlike anything he had done before. He also brought on a huge slate of high-profile collaborators, including Brandi Carlile, Phoebe Bridgers, Monica Martin, and Clairo. The album is dedicated to Mulligan, and he said that he really relished the opportunity to collaborate creatively with women and have more women on his team.
Mumford connected with Vanity Fair over Zoom to discuss changing his creative process, learning to open up about his feelings, and the great advice he got inside of Neil Young ’s Pono-equipped Cadillac.
Vanity Fair: I know the record got its start during the pandemic. I’ve spoken to so many touring musicians who said the pandemic was one of the first times they’d ever gotten to be in one place for so long. What was it like for you?
Marcus Mumford: Our last show as a band was March 8th, 2020. We toured right up until everything closed down. And then suddenly by March 12th, we were kind of shut up stuck at home, in Devon. It was the longest period of time I’ve ever had at home since high school, and the first time I’ve had a real sense of home associated with a place, not a group of people, which it usually is for me. There were elements of that that I tried to embrace and see as an opportunity to get some structure. Then I did a bunch of work. I did the music for two seasons of Ted Lasso mostly during COVID, and then I started to write my record.
You’ve been writing songs for such a long time—have you always considered yourself a “songwriter” in addition to being a member of the band?
I think it took me a really long time. And in some ways, it has been up until now. Being a band member, I was a band member first, really, in my head, and a songwriter second. Whereas on this, I had to be a songwriter first. Jonathan Dickins, who manages Adele , is a friend of mine. He sat me down and he said, “Look, dude, you’re procrastinating and your songwriting muscles are probably going into atrophy at this point. You’ve just got to write fucking songs. Everything else in your working life will come from the songs you write. So, just write for the sake of writing and just follow the songs. Just follow the creative process wherever it leads.” Which was really invaluable advice to me. That would have been January, ’21.
The music really is so different, but how long did it take you to realize that you wanted to work with Blake and release it under your own name? When did you say “Oh, this is a solo thing”?
By David Canfield
By Kara Warner
In April, I sent the first two songs on the record to the rest of the guys in Mumford & Sons and said, “Look, I’ve written these songs, I want to follow this creativity wherever it leads. I’m not sure this is a band thing. What do you think?” And they all said, “No, those feel like solo songs.” So, I just kept writing. Even up until November of last year, I was refusing to refer to it as a “record,” because I was enjoying feeling quite free creatively and feeling really curious and inquisitive creatively. As soon as I would have called it a solo record, I think that would have made me start thinking through release dates, labels, building a team around it, because I didn’t have a manager doing all that stuff.
I put all those conversations off until the beginning of this year. It meant that it was all quite late, but it meant that I wasn’t distracted by all of those things, which I think can become procrastinating tactics. They certainly are for me as a songwriter—I’ll find every excuse not to write songs. But at the end of the day, that’s my job. Blake would tease me for it because he’s like, “Dude, we’re 10 songs in. This is definitely a solo record.” I kept referring to it as a “collection of songs.”
“A collection,” I like that. Is that what you told all of your collaborators?
We came by the studio, they might hear “Cannibal” and “Grace” and assume a bunch, but I would never say, “Do you want to come play on my record?” Not until January this year. But before then, the song with Brandi Carlile, the song with Phoebe Bridgers, the song with Clairo, it was all like, “Do you want to help me write some songs? I don’t really know what they’re for yet.”
How did you approach them? Was it a text, was it an email?
Brandi, we ran into each other at dinner and she cornered me and asked me what was going on in my life, because I was presenting quite differently to how I had before, [so we decided to write together.] Clairo, I actually met the night before we went into the studio together. We met through my publisher, who happened to just be in town. And we both had lunch and dinner with her separately, and told her that we were both fans of each other. Because she was like, “Oh, I’m seeing Claire later.” And I was like, “I fucking love Clairo.” And so she connected us, and the next day we were at the studio.
Phoebe was working in the room next door at Sound City, and we’d been friends for a while and I told her I was going to be there. We’d said that we’d hang out. Then she came in and heard a couple of songs and wanted to be involved. And so then I played her “Stonecatcher” and for her, in that song there’s a particular line and she just said, “Dude, did you get the word heinous into a song?” And I said yes.
It is a really hard word to get into a song!
It is a hard word to get into a song. And she was like, “I’ve tried so many different ways and I haven’t succeeded. You have the Holy Grail, I will sing on your song.”
I think American accents just can’t do it, with that long A. I think it might be that.
Heinous. Yeah, right. I see that.
Was it easier to collaborate with more people since you were doing it under your own name and not as a part of an established collective with its own history?
Maybe it’s easier for new people not to be entering the machine of the band. But I think part of it honestly came down to being in a place personally where I wanted to feel free and create expressively, and really to resist the urge for too many boundaries and restrictions around the writing process. For the first time, I wrote with people outside of the band. I’ve never really written with anyone outside the band.
Having grown up as a baby musician playing in Laura Marling ’s band, I hadn’t worked with women for a long time. I’ve been in a male-dominated work environment for a long time, and it was just so refreshing to work with women again. Every time I’d hit a brick wall in the recording process and the writing process, it felt like to me a woman would come along and raise me up and lift me over. I relied more on feminine energy on this record than I ever have before, both personally and professionally too, right? There’s a good reason why the record is dedicated to my wife. But also my team behind the scenes, there’s more women involved now and I’m really grateful for that.
Yeah. I mean, I think even just writing for a different vocal register and getting to play with that can really spark something different.
It also was like, “Okay, Finneas, come by for an afternoon and we’ll just hang out and play some music together.” That’s how I started playing music. That’s the spirit of it. And same with Julia Michaels, Tobias Jesso Jr., who I adore, and getting the privilege of sitting in a room with these people, I learned so much, and not feeling kind of cynical about the idea of co-writing, but really embracing it and saying, “Well, what can they add to this process?” They’ve got a huge amount of value to add. And I learned more in that six-hour session with Julia Michaels about writing songs than I had weeks on my own, locked in a room.
It seems like this creative process was totally different than any of your albums with the band, and it really comes through in the sound—it’s so atmospheric and transporative. How did you decide to change your approach?
I mean, I paid more attention to detail on this record than anything I’ve done before. I had a conversation once with Neil Young, who I think maybe he’d heard some of our records and was like, “Mate, we need to talk.” But he sat me down. We listened to one of his new stereos that he was really proud of. He was working on Pono players at the time. We were in a Cadillac that had a Pono system in it. And he was like, “Look ...” I said, “I’ve always thought of records as kind of advertisements for your live tour.” And he was like, “That’s completely wrong, man.” He said, “Your records are the things that last, and they will last beyond you. And you need to pay more attention to the sound of them.” And it was really helpful.
We thought about that more on the last Mumford & Sons record, but really this record, I mean we spent 18 months on it, carving and carving. And really, that’s mostly thanks to Blake and his production work, but really honing in on the finest of details to try and make it sound right. And I think as a result, it’s the best sounding stuff I’ve ever done. But now, I don’t want to go back.
I know that the lyrics on this one are a little bit more personal. What were you thinking when you knew you were going to get a little bit more personal?
I wasn’t thinking at all, really. Which is why I think it worked well. I don’t really remember writing “Cannibal.” I was actually, because I write everything down by hand, and I had these two big books of lyrics for this record. And “Grace” took up six pages or something in the books. I was able to read where it started and where it got to. The first demo was called “I Just Want to Fuck Around.” It was fun!
Once I’d written “Cannibal,” and then Blake and I really had finished it off together and done “Grace,” then we felt like, “Okay, we’ve set ourselves a bar for honesty here. Let’s keep pursuing that and make sure that everything else that comes, we can hold it up to the light of those songs honesty-wise and see how it feels.”
I think it was the product of a lot of really hard work. I think I’d done a lot of the work before sitting down to write, so then once I sat down to write, it didn’t feel crazy hard or super emo or anything, actually. It just felt like a natural progression. As an artist, it’s natural for me to express things that I think and feel through my art.
Even referring to myself as an artist used to make my skin crawl because I’m so English, and it’s not a proper job or you’re not a proper artist or whatever. Now I’m in less denial about that. It’s a natural thing for me to write about things I’m thinking and feeling. And so it would be unnatural not to, in some ways. Once I’d done the work of thinking and feeling those things through to the point where it felt healthier, then writing about it felt pretty natural. Then taking it to people, owning your story is such a key part of recovery and healing, that that also felt natural.
I think that really reflects the advice we give children—that it’s important to share your feelings in order to feel better. Did having kids change the way you felt about any of these things?
It’s funny, you start telling your kids stuff and you’re like, “I should probably take that advice.” Things like, guys, it’s completely healthy. You can talk to us about anything you want to. Always good to talk this stuff through. And then you close the door and you walk out and you’re like, “Oh, shit. I should probably apply that to my own life as well.”
I think it develops you as a person, or it can if you allow it to. Not to say that development can’t happen for people who don’t have kids, but sometimes it feels like it has accelerated areas of my development in ways that might not have happened as quickly if I didn’t have children.
It also sounds like good advice to share with an audience too. Were you thinking about that?
My favorite thing about music is the way it connects people. And that includes even in the writing process, certainly in the performing process, just on stage. And then of course with the relationship between artists and audience, and then the relationship between audience and audience. The way it just can connect and flow through communities is my favorite thing about it.
I’ve never been like, “Ah, look, I’ve written this song all on my own. Look at me.” I just enjoy the human interaction that can come from writing songs in the same room as other people. And that includes engineers and producers in the room. And often, assistants at studios can be really helpful people to have. You have an idea and you turn around, you’re like, “Is that good?” And they’ll be like, “Yeah.” Or they’ll be like, “Huh,” and you’ll change. Just bouncing ideas off each other, I love the human element of making something.

I can still taste you and I hate it That wasn’t a choice in the mind of a child and you knew it You took the first slice of me and you ate it raw Ripped at it with your teeth and your lips like a cannibal You fucking animal
I can still taste you and it kills me That there’s still some sick part of it that thrills me That my own body keeps betraying me And there is such power there, it may destroy me But it compels me
Of course I deny it Can hardly believe it Dismiss or demean it Cause I know I can’t speak it
But when I began to tell It became the hardest thing I ever said out loud The words got locked in my throat Man, I choked And this is what it feels like to be free Even though it follows back down, stares Into the dark with me
Even then I deny it Can hardly believe it Dismiss or demean it But I know I must speak it
If I could forgive you now Release you from all of the Blame I know how If I could forgive you now As if saying the words Will help me know how
To begin again
Help me know how To begin
Help me know how To begin again Help me know how To begin again Begin again
Well how should we proceed Without things getting too heavy Even though I never tell you everything I coulda sworn I dropped that bomb on you already
Grace like a river
Yeah see there will come a time When it won’t feel just like living it over and over With the weight of the shadow on your shoulder And I hear there’s healing just around this corner
But it’s all behind I’m fine it’s alright Do I sound like I’m lying
Just giving it time Just giving it time But I’m still trying Still getting used to this place
And I don’t know if I’m Ever going to get used to this
Grace like a river Grace like a river Grace like a river Grace like a river
Put on my running gear I knew that this was coming I picked up my phone and called my favourites I knew I had to sit you down But sitting you down could not prepare you For another night like this
We made a promise that we always would be honest I never thought that I would break again Circled Holland Park Cold when I came back and sat you down For yet another night like this
I wish we could play the fools again
Each word is a cut that I see coming I clench my fists as I’m inflicting them And now I’m running out of parts that I can play Not the hero, not the dodger, not the preachers’ son
You ask me why I’d want to break the very thing I love the most You knew I couldn’t answer plainly Then you knelt down on the ground Like you were drawing in the sand And I surrender I surrender now
I wish we could play the fools again Go back or just skip to the end I wish we could play the fools again
How could you not
On the floor we painted white You’re picking up the pieces Reminding me of love and what we would look like without it It’s not a problem that is yours to fix
As this pours into your life The street lights on and off again Enough is enough Is enough Will that someday be us
I wish we could play the fools again Go back or just skip to the end I wish we could play the fools again How could you not Blame me How could you not Blame me
How could you not How could you not How could you not
Bless that medicine For bringing round that click in your head Better off high than dead
When you are stripped bare When you have settled your affairs Dressed in white Like a bride Or a new believer
Holding a handful of dust What else can we trust What else can we trust
It’s all that’s left for us
When you are back on the line The last stillness in your mind Almost seized me And all of this tedious talk It’s cheap It’s easy
Holding a handful of dust What else can we trust It’s all that’s left for us Anyway Anyway Oh
Yeah some hells put a peace on me And it still feels like there are hooks in me But the silence turns up the curse in me
On my shoulder as we laid awake And you always loved a smoke by eight Cause baby don’t mind
Gets never colder Than when the daylight breaks Do you now regret the bed we made Does it cross your mind Well baby, does it cross your mind
I did not intend to slow you down Even hoped that we would have spoke by now I was acting like an only child
What takes forever is a lesson learned I have nothing to show for the medals I’ve earned And maybe I mind Cause no one’s ever seen me traipsing in I’ve been hiding from all the places I’ve been And sore from trying And acting like an only child
But I did not intend to slow you down Even though I’d hoped we’d have spoke by now Maybe we were only lying
Heaven’s closing, they’re still pouring drinks And of all those crazy ways you think I love you lying But I can’t reason with the past we face I am sorry for the mess we made And if you want we’ll pick through my mistakes You’ll see me crying But maybe we could put it all behind
I did not intend to force your hand Even though we swore we’d understand Maybe we’ll be always trying We’ll be always trying
Tennessee heat in a wood panelled room I put myself into his care again In a high school chair For the visiting hour From you of all people
Now he tells me to conjure you up And so we meet again And again at the bottom of the garden And I’m chasing a ghost All around the room And now you’re strung up on the ceiling And it’s you of all people
It’s a dangerous game To play with fire For a brand new mind A dangerous game A man on the wire Get me out of my mind
Tied to the hope of another way through It’s chained at my ankles, they took away my shoes Now I see the only way through, is chained at the ankles With you of all people
Get me out of my mind Out of my mind Out of my mind Out of my mind
It’s a dangerous game To play with fire For a brand new mind A dangerous game It’s a dangerous game With you on my side With you in my mind A dangerous game A man on the wire Get me out of my mind
Dawn hits The sunrise on my breath The fog lifts from pretending to forget All the nights we left those Berwick Street hotels To the corners where we wished each other well
It’s alright I’m not trying to get them out of my head It’s alright If you don’t care then I don’t care Is this where we Begin again
From a stumbling mess I was searching to erase To the hands that pull me through without trace
I no longer see faces On the Polaroids we hid Behind a street sign is St James’s Where no one is forbidden
So here’s to the moment I deceive my better angels And the foggy midnight floors of perfect strangers
It’s alright I’m not trying to get them out of my head It’s alright If you don’t care then I don’t care It’s alright I don’t want to get them out of my head Is this where we Begin again
Cry havoc in the evening Sirens in the morning Peace by the afternoon I was planning on leaving Unless you really need me I’m just trying to keep up with you
Here in my wildest dreams We are the only ones awake The memories stop And you call my name Here in my wildest dreams Where the eyes fade away The memories stop And you call my name
Go in Go in light Go in Go in light
I know that I’m walking a treacherous line There’s breath on the glass But death on the vine Havoc in the evening Silence in the morning How is it so loud When it’s quiet
Go in Go in light Go in Go in light Go in Go in light Go in Go in light Light Go in light
Who am I Rambling at my reflection in the rear view light Following a stranger, praying for a fight Or the strength to get back on my knees again
This light Glowing neon in the corner of my mind Burns and burns but leaves no warmth behind I kinda wish you’d just done it in the dark
Oh my God We’re here again It all slows down To lines in the sand
Will I give out Only that which I myself was given once Where is all the mercy that was promised us Perhaps we ask too much
Coulda just as well be me Brought before them head down in that midday heat Only defined by my most heinous deed Well who would trace a finger through the dust
All we can hope Is that we suffer well When the cycle ends When there’s tales to tell When it reaches me Let me be a stonecatcher please
I had wondered what was done to you To give you such a taste for flesh I guess for years I just carried on Didn’t feel much of a choice to supress
I hope your memory is less vivid than mine And is free from that awful maple light I have to say I still wish you had just done it in the dark So the pictures didn’t burn so bright
But I’ll forgive you now Release you from all of the blame I know how And I’ll forgive you now As if saying the words will help me know how Please help me know how
I’m afraid it will take a time I’ll make my case to the Shahanshah as I bring him his cup And I’ll tell him best I can what I need To build the walls of my Jerusalem back up
And I have reckoned with what you’ve taken from me And I killed that liar in my head I buried him beneath the maple tree There’s no joy in dancing with the dead
But I’ll forgive you now Release you from all of the blame I know how And I’ll forgive you now As if saying the words will help me know How
Better Off High

Mumford & Sons, Delta review: The band have thrown everything plus the kitchen sink at this ambitious, but painfully earnest, album
It’s all very dramatic, both thematically and sonically, with virtually every track following the same pattern: quiet, bit louder, loud, article bookmarked.

Spare a thought for Mumford & Sons. Yes, they’ve sold millions of records. And yes, they’ve been deemed credible enough to play with artists such as Bob Dylan and Paul Simon. But whatever they do, it seems this folk-rock four-piece will forever be a lightning rod for critical vitriol.
That they are inauthentic was the original source of irritation when these public schoolboys from London emerged almost a decade ago, all tweed waistcoats, neckerchiefs and hoedowns. “They look like f***ing Amish people,” Liam Gallagher famously said. Yet the band were dismissed, too, when they finally dropped the faux-rusticana and swapped the banjo-driven bonhomie for pastoral American rock on their 2015 album, Wilder Mind. This drift towards a War on Drugs-like sound, the critics argued, was hardly the big gamble Mumford & Sons claimed, given how massive their following is in the US.
For Delta , their fourth album, the band have thrown every musical idea they possess into the mix: some orchestral flourishes here, some dabs of jazz and electronica there, with the acoustic instruments that dominated Sigh No More and Babel here drenched in digital effects by producer Paul Epworth (Adele, Coldplay). Texturally, Delta thrums with weird stuff, weaving in keyboard filigrees between the soaring riffs. Where Wilder Mind purported to be ambitious, this record genuinely is. The soundscapes are cinematic – and intense.

While the album’s lead single, “Guiding Light”, will satisfy the fans weaned on the band’s barbershop harmonies and bombastic choruses, “Rose of Sharon” finds Mumford & Sons swimming blissfully into warm, uncharted waters – just listen to its West African inflections and subtle vocals from Brooklyn songwriter Maggie Rogers. Catchy, too, is the sparse, electronic-flecked ballad “Woman”, which roots itself deeply in your ear despite Mumford’s warble recalling Alt-J frontman Joe Newman’s mewled delivery.
Still, for all their experimentation on Delta, Mumford & Sons remain painfully earnest. Keep a straight face as a dramatic reading of John Milton’s Paradise Lost takes place over the portentous psychedelia of “Darkness Visible”. Or as Marcus Mumford sings “you’ll find me on my knees for you” amid the banal crescendos of “Slip Away”, a track that would definitely have been used on The OC to accompany Mischa Barton looking sad. Lyrically, the band aren’t that dissimilar to the Instagram influencer you follow who has “carpe diem” tattooed on their wrist.

According to keyboardist Ben Lovett, the album was inspired by death, divorce and depression. To use another “D”, it’s all very dramatic, both thematically and sonically, with virtually every track following the same pattern: quiet, bit louder, LOUD. Take “The Wild” – all wistful calm before the (symphonic) storm, as synths, military drums, banjos, cellos, flutes, violins and, er, the kitchen sink are swept up in something less than the sum of its parts. Far more rousing is the album closer “Delta”, which blends snatches of Mumford’s children giggling with a staccato synthesiser motif and somehow manages not to sound that sentimental.
In truth, though, Delta is good but not great. “We’re strangely confident about this album,” said Mumford in a recent interview. “Perhaps that is because it feels the most like ourselves.” Exactly.

Mumford and Sons frontman Marcus Mumford has shared the first substantial details surrounding his debut solo album, which is called “(self-titled).”
In a handwritten note uploaded as the first post to the singer’s Instagram account, Mumford disclosed that the album is produced by Blake Mills, will be released on Sept. 16 and features contributions from Brandi Carlile , Phoebe Bridgers, Clairo and Monica Martin.
“In January 2021, facing demons I danced with for a long time in isolation, I wrote a song called ‘Cannibal,’” wrote Mumford. “I took it to my friend Blake Mills, and we began the process of making the album, dear to my heart, called ‘(self-titled)’.” See the full post below.

Prior to this social media post, Mumford had confirmed that a solo album was due while making a guest appearance at Carlile’s Los Angeles show in June. There, he made a point of affirming that his debut was created with “the full blessing and permission of the band that I’m still in” — a pointed response to massive speculation that Mumford and Sons might be breaking up, after word leaked about the project.
During that show, Mumford and Carlile premiered their collaborative song, with Mumford introducing it as the last song on his solo record. Watch that performance below.
Variety further confirmed that there are no plans for Mumford and Sons to break up and revealed that Mumford began the writing process for “(self-titled)” intending to pen songs for the group — before determining that at least some of the new compositions were enough of a departure to warrant the frontman using them for a solo project instead.

Back to news, new album announcement.
"We are more than excited to release Babel into the world. We had started writing new songs well before we got into the studio to record. At first, we peeled ourselves off the road quite reluctantly. We love playing live, obviously, but it had also become an important part of our creative process, we had been writing and rehearsing in soundchecks, and sort of ‘road-testing’ new songs on our very gracious audiences. But then we fell in love with recording again. The album started to come together, and with the help of Markus Dravs once more (and engineer Robin Baynton), we started to relish the challenge of making this album. As a band, we’ve never been closer or more collaborative, all working to our strengths. And so we feel that this record is a natural progression that we’re proud of, and we cannot wait to take it out on the road."
Babel , the follow up to Mumford & Sons 2009 debut album Sigh No More , will be released on 24th September. The album is produced by Markus Dravs.

Sting to Tour North America as a Trio (Not That One)
- By Charisma Madarang
Charisma Madarang
Sting announced that he’ll be hitting the road this fall as part of his Sting 3.0 tour with drummer Chris Maas (who previously collaborated with Mumford & Sons and Maggie Rogers) and guitarist Dominic Miller, his longtime collaborator.
While the frontman won’t heading on a reunion tour with his former Police bandmates, Sting 3.0 promises to celebrate “a new dynamic era showcasing selections from his vast catalog through the urgent lens of a tight three-piece combo.”
Members of Sting’s fan club will get first dibs to pre-sale tickets on sting.com starting Monday, followed by pre-sales for Citi and American Express members throughout the week. General ticket sales will be available Friday at 10 a.m. local time on the website.
Although Police fans may be hoping for another reunion tour, Sting has said that their 2007/08 tour would only happen once. “When the Police reunited, it had been long enough, and it was the right time to do it,” he told Music Week in a 2023 interview. “And I’m taking credit for that because that was my decision. Doing it again would just be gratuitous and that won’t happen. But we did it, and everyone was happy that mum and dad got back together again and had one last fling.”
