J.I.D and Earthgang Share Never Had Sh!t Euro Tour Dates

Following a North American tour , Dreamville's J.I.D and EarthGang are heading out on the road again, this time for the European leg of the Never Had Sh!t Tour.

Kicking off on May 30 in Oslo, Norway, the 19-date trek will feature three shows in the United Kingdom along with stops in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, France, Spain and more before wrapping up on June 23 Reyjavik, Iceland. Tickets for the tour are on sale now .

Last month, EarthGang dropped the third and final installment in their trilogy of EPs, Royalty . The five-track project includes only one guest appearance from Ari Lennox on the song " Nothing but the Best ."

As for J.I.D, the rapper's last project came in 2017 when he dropped The Never Story . The 13-song project features guest appearances from EarthGang, 6lack and Mereba, as well as production from Childish Major, J. Cole and more.

When J.I.D joined hip hop duo EARTHGANG on tour, he was spotted by J.Cole who promptly signed him to his Interscope Records venture, Dreamville Records. Soon after signing to Dreamville, he made his major-label debut with the widely celebrated The Never Story (2017), followed up quickly by the critically acclaimed album DiCaprio 2 (2018). The sophomore project received major looks from critics and helped induct the rapper to the year’s XXL’s Freshmen class.

In 2019, J.I.D continued his momentum with stellar contributions to Dreamville’s Platinum certified compilation Revenge of the Dreamers III which went on to debut #1 on the Billboard Top 200 charts and received multiple GRAMMY nominations including “Best Rap Album” and “Best Rap Performance.” Revered for his live performance style, he continued to tour across the country and internationally selling out venues and festival stages.

2022 proved to be a massive year for the Atlanta rapper who was celebrating a global hit over the winter break in “Enemy” with Imagine Dragons. The huge single primed fans for the first release off J.I.D’s third studio album The Forever Story — a much anticipated project by fans and critics alike. The Forever Story is J.I.D’s most personal project to date featuring a slew of guest artists including Lil Wayne, Yasiin Bey, James Blake, Lil Durk, and more. It topped many “Best of 2022” lists including Rolling Stone, Complex, GQ, XXL, Pitchfork and received an incredible live rendition on NPR’s Tiny Desk stage. The 16-track album — including the fan celebrated outro “2007” featuring J.Cole — was a celebration of storytelling and J.I.D’s ability to weave personality and prose seamlessly across infectious production, executive produced by longtime collaborator and DJ Christo. The music was brought to life when J.I.D toured the album on the completely sold out “Luv Is 4Ever” tour alongside hip-hop artist Smino.

His nimble, head-nodding lyricism and lightning-fast flow has awarded J.I.D a loyal and cult-like fanbase while his dedication to perfecting the art is sportsman-like, leaving room for J.I.D to be one of rap’s greatest in the making.

Dreamville Expands, Launches Content Studio

Dreamville Records has announced the formation of Dreamville Ventures, a multi-disciplinary media company, and Dreamville Studios, a content studio that will produce original and co-produced content. Coming aboard to lead the new division is Damien Scott, president of Dreamville, and Candace Rodney, who serves as Dreamville executive vice president and president of Dreamville Studios.

A somber yet poignant tale that ends on a hopeful tone — which fans have been long awaiting for. The crew composed of J.I.D, EarthGang, 6lack, Mereba, Jurdan Bryant, Hollywood JB and Benji. recorded the song during (and largely as a solace for) the pandemic, and yet seems to still ring true during an civil rights uprising.

ABOUT JID: Born and raised in East Atlanta, Grammy nominated JID grew up on his parents’ collection of classic funk/soul LPs, and broke onto the scene with his 2015 EP, DiCaprio . Eurovision 2024 : Slimane entame son tour d’Europe à la conquête de fans

Avant le grand concours du 11 mai à Malmö (Suède), Slimane et les autres candidats font le tour d’Europe pour séduire les fans et futurs votants, comme ce dimanche soir à Londres.

« Je t’aime I don’t know why. (…) You really feel my pain but you stay silent… Do you still love me ? Or not ». 20h45 ce dimanche à Londres, tout de blanc vêtu, Slimane chante a cappella la fin de « Mon Amour », le titre avec lequel il va représenter la France à l’Eurovision . Le public anglais hurle sa joie en découvrant cette fin alternative, en VO, s’il vous plaît. Mission réussie pour le Français, qui peut espérer récolter les fameux douze points de nos meilleurs ennemis de l’autre côté de la Manche.

J-34 pour tous les candidats au concours européen de la chanson. La pression commence à monter chez les favoris, comme chez les petits candidats qui redoutent de se faire recaler dès la demi-finale. En tant que citoyen d’un des pays du « Big 5 » (les plus gros contributeurs au budget du concours européen de la chanson), le chanteur découvert par « The Voice » en 2016 est assuré d’être présent à la finale, le samedi 11 mai prochain, à Malmö, en Suède.

Qu’importe que la qualification soit actée. Pour briller, il faut récupérer des points aux quatre coins du continent. Alors ce week-end, le frenchy d’origine algérienne, 34 ans, a pris son bâton de pèlerin et a participé à deux « pre-partys ». Ces spectacles, où défilent sur scène tous ceux qui rêvent de succéder au palmarès à la Suédoise Loreen, lauréate 2023 , sont très prisés des fans qui découvrent en direct les morceaux et affinent leurs votes.

Après Barcelone la veille, où il a déjà chanté un bout de « Mon Amour » en espagnol, Slimane était à Londres ce dimanche soir. Un concert au Here at Outernet, une grande boite de nuit flambant neuve de 2 000 places dans un complexe immobilier très moderne à Soho, quartier festif du cœur de la capitale anglaise.

Dès 17 heures, les fans s’agglutinent derrière les barrières et ovationnent chaque délégation qui entre pour répéter et répondre à WiwiBloggs, le site préféré des amateurs du concours européens. Quinze minutes plus tard, Slimane sort à son tour et s’offre un rapide bain de foule. Veste et short en cuir noir, il enchaîne les selfies sous les ovations.

Melisa, venue de Fribourg (Suisse) pour fêter ses 26 ans, est aux anges. Et pas seulement parce qu’elle a décroché une photo. Son pays caracole en tête des bookmakers et Slimane « qu’elle suit depuis ses tout débuts » est bien classé, à la 7e place. Elle l’imagine sur le podium à Malmö. « Ses paroles sont simples. Les étrangers les comprennent. J’ai vu cet après-midi plein de gens chanter Je t’aaaaime », lance-t-elle en imitant l’accent britannique. « C’est important ces concerts car on voit comment les artistes performent en live. Le duo espagnol Nebulossa ne chante pas très juste par exemple… Leur cote va tomber, c’est sûr », prévient-elle en experte.

La Croatie, l’Italie et la Belgique comptent aussi parmi les favoris avec l’Ukraine et les Pays-Bas. Très applaudi également dans la fosse du Here at Outernet, le Britannique Olly Alexander. L’enfant du pays, 33 ans, est très célèbre depuis sa prestation dans la bouleversante série sur les années sida « It’s a sin » , récemment diffusée sur France 2.

« Moi, j’ai aimé dès la première écoute »

En attendant d’entrer dans la salle tout le monde joue aux pronostics. Slimane est dans toutes les bouches. « Il a une voix magnifique », reconnaît Michelle 52 ans, de Bath, une ville à quelques encablures de Bristol, au sud-ouest de l’Angleterre. « Mais moi, pour l’Eurovision, je préfère les morceaux qui font danser », sourit-elle, sous son béret violet. Sa copine Jess, 28 ans, l’interrompt immédiatement. « Moi, j’ai aimé dès la première écoute. C’est très fort, très émouvant. De toute façon, on n’est jamais d’accord avec Michelle », rit-elle.

Un peu plus loin, Ellen et son père Adrian sont conquis par la « voix incroyable » du Français. « Il est très différent des autres candidats. Quand il chante à un mètre du micro, à la fin, c’est fort. Ça envoie de bonnes vibrations et son passage a cappella va plaire au jury, c’est sûr ! » Cachée sous une casquette de l’Eurovision de Liverpool, sa ville qui a accueilli le concours l’année dernière, son père, qui d’habitude aime les morceaux « plus rocky », acquiesce.

Pour Slimane, le marathon jusqu’à Malmö s’annonce encore long. S’il vient de faire la Une du magazine de la communauté LGBT « Têtu », le jeune homme devrait peu s’exprimer dans les médias tricolores avant de mettre les pieds en Suède. Il a d’ailleurs refusé notre demande d’interview. France 2 a décidé de mettre le paquet sur les télévisions étrangères. « On est allé en Croatie, en Italie sur la Rai Uno. On fait une belle campagne européenne. C’est essentiel pour faire connaître Slimane en Europe car ce sont les autres pays qui peuvent voter pour Slimane. Pas les Français », explique Alexandra Redde-Amiel, la cheffe de la délégation tricolore.

Slimane est d’ailleurs attendu ce mardi pour chanter « Mon Amour » dans « The Voice Belgique » où il a été un temps juré. Le samedi suivant, il se rendra à Amsterdam pour une dernière pré-party, là même ou l’aventure de La Zarra, la candidate hexagonale l’an dernier, avait commencé à mal tourner. La porte-drapeau tricolore avait planté ce concert au tout dernier moment, sans explication , avant d’annuler toute promotion dans la dernière ligne droite.

Slimane lui, a récolté des points lors de son passage remarqué sur la télévision croate le 22 février dernier. Il a chanté a cappella la fin de son titre, à un mètre de son micro. Une prestation toute en puissance et en sobriété qui, le jour J, devrait être au cœur de sa mise en scène tenue secrète. Il faudra émouvoir pour ramener à la maison cette coupe qui nous échappe depuis 47 ans. La dernière victoire tricolore, c’était « L’Oiseau et l’Enfant » de Marie Myriam et on le répète depuis 1977. En y croyant chaque année.

Juan Ayuso wins accident-plagued Tour de Basque Country in northern Spain

EIBAR, Spain (AP) — Spanish cyclist Juan Ayuso won the Tour of Basque Country after taking the lead during the sixth and final stage on Saturday.

Ayuso, who is considered the rising star of Spanish cycling, started the stage just four seconds behind overnight leader Mattias Skjelmose. Ayuso won the race by 42 seconds over stage winner Carlos Rodríguez while Skjelmose completed the podium.

Rodríguez finished the 137-kilometer (85-mile) mountainous ride that started and finished in Eibar in 3 1/2 hours, with Ayuso just behind.

The race in northern Spain was plagued by accidents that knocked out several of cycling’s top riders, including two-time reigning Tour de France champion Jonas Vingegaard.

Vingegaard broke a collarbone, several ribs and suffered a collapsed lung in a crash with other riders on Thursday. As of Friday, Vingegaard remained in a hospital in the Spanish city of Vitoria. His Visma-Lease A Bike team did not update his status on Saturday.

Belgian Remco Evenepoel also broke a collarbone and his right shoulder blade and was scheduled to undergo surgery from that crash during stage 4.

Another crash on Friday resulted in Mikel Landa, the race’s runner-up from 2023, breaking his right collarbone and two ribs.

Ayuso was second in the Tirreno-Adriatico last month and third in the 2022 Spanish Vuelta.

Plant pursuing early season win in first of back-to-back events in India

Alfie Plant is targeting a third Challenge Tour victory this week when he tees it up in the Delhi Challenge at Classic Golf & Country Club.

The Englishman arrives in Delhi for the first of back-to-back Challenge Tour events co-sanctioned with the Tata Steel Professional Golf Tour of India, and is looking to build momentum following an encouraging start to the year in South Africa.

The 31-year-old was in contention heading into the weekend of the Bain’s Whisky Cape Town Open before eventually finishing in a share of 31st, and the two-time Challenge Tour winner admits there is no time like the present to add a third title to his resume.

“It was my first time in India last year so I was really excited to come back, and it’s nice to be back out in the sun,” he said. “I love trying all of the different food, everyone is very friendly and it’s just a nice place to visit.

“A win would be great and it would be a very fast start to the season for me. I’d be up there in the Road to Mallorca Rankings, and a win secures my card for next year, so I feel like from that point you can relax a little bit more and just focus on good results.”

Plant graduated to the Challenge Tour from the Euro Pro Tour in 2019 after a stellar amateur career that saw him win the Silver Medal at The Open in 2017, and is hoping that this will be the year he can earn promotion to the DP World Tour.

“I think every season is really important but I’ve been out on the Challenge Tour for a few years now so I feel like they’re getting more important as the years go on,” he added. “Early in the season is very important.

“It’s always nice to start the season strong. When you get into Europe, if you can already have points on the board, you can start to feel at home.

“The course this week is nice, the greens are very quick and quite slopy. I wouldn’t say it’s a big hitters course, but I wouldn’t say it’s a short course either. I think it’s a nice length and there’s a bit of run on the fairways, so hopefully it suits my game.”

Plant is part of a strong field in Delhi that includes Road to Mallorca Number One Mikael Lindberg, current PGTI Order of Merit leader Manu Gandas and four-time DP World Tour winner David Horsey.

Play gets under way on Thursday at 6:50am local time, with plant teeing off alongside Gandas and Frenchman Martin Couvra at 12:35pm.
