Summary [ ]

Kira Nerys returns to Deep Space 9 from Ares to find numerous Cardassian Galor -class warships at the space station . With only the Defiant able to protect DS9 and Bajor , Sisko has made an alliance with Gul Dukat for military assistance. Kira is worried but her experiences on Ares have shaken her belief in the Prophets , perhaps they might not be as benevolent as Bajoran tradition considers them.

Since returning to DS9 with Kira, Lane Crockett has been detained in Odo 's holding cells . Crockett has committed crimes against Cardassia but Gul Dukat has agreed to commute his sentence if Crockett aids them in the fight against the Aresians . Sisko finds that he trusts Dukat more than Crockett.

The Defiant and Dukat's ship enter the Gamma Quadrant and detect three Aresian starships heading their way. Sisko hopes that the Aresians will think twice about engaging their vessels, but Crockett warns that the Aresians will simply keep sending ship after ship against them. The battle soon begins, and the Aresians are able to destroy one of Dukat's ships before withdrawing.

On DS9, Kira is wrestling with the implications of the warlike Aresians worshipping the Prophets, wondering if her violent actions in the Bajoran underground were a twisted take on the Prophets' message. Quark suggests that Kira consult the orb that she brought back from the Gamma Quadrant.

On the Defiant , Chief O'Brien has been studying the Aresian attack on Dukat's lost ship. It transpires that Crockett provided the details of a vulnerability in Cardassian deflector shielding technology to the Aresians. Enraged, Dukat kills Crockett with a phaser , disintegrating him.

On DS9, Kira opens the orb ark and finds herself wielding a sword and shield and fighting against both Cardassians and Aresians. She meets Opaka , but her orb experience ends when Kai Winn closes the orb ark.

The Defiant returns to the Alpha Quadrant with Aresian ships in pursuit, but Cardassian reinforcements soon arrive to assist. The Aresian flagship comes through the wormhole , engaging the Defiant in battle. Kira decides the best course of action is to give the Aresians back the orb and trust in the Prophets. To that end, she transports aboard the Aresians flagship with the orb, accompanied by Commander Sisko and Kai Winn. The Aresian leader is convinced by Kira and agrees to withdraw his forces.

Sisko and Kira find hope in the way they worked with Dukat, but Dukat claims to only have been working for self-preservation.

Interview: ‘Star Trek’ Comic Writers Preview Sisko’s Return To Lead All-Star Team On A Mission From Gods

IDW is about to kick off a new ongoing Star Trek comic series that will see the return of Deep Space Nine’s Benjamin Sisko. The new series is written by Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing, the leads behind IDW’s Star Trek: Year Five series, with art by Ramon Rosanas (Marvel’s Star Wars , Ant-Man ) and a wide collection of artists for additional covers. This ambitious new title promises a “bold new direction in Star Trek comics” and IDW is so enthused with it, they have already announced a spin-off series led by Worf , coming in early 2023.

Set in the time between the end of DS9 and Star Trek: Nemesis , the new ongoing Star Trek series promises to bring in characters from across the franchise. Sisko’s mission upon returning from the wormhole is to stop someone who is “killing the gods.” Starfleet gives him a new ship—the USS Theseus—and his crew includes new characters and familiar faces like Dr. Beverly Crusher and Data.

TrekMovie spoke to authors Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing about the title to better understand what is in store.

Making an Avengers for Star Trek

The idea for this series actually predates Kelly and Lanzing’s work on Year Five to their first pitch to IDW—where the longtime fans arrived with Stellar Cartography maps and their own personal Star Trek figures—presenting an idea set in the TNG movie era that featured Jean-Luc Picard as the main character, but the project got shelved after CBS decided to launch Star Trek: Picard . Even as they moved on to work on the TOS -era Year Five series, the pair kept thinking about “returning back to TNG , Deep Space Nine , and Voyager , and specifically in that era after Voyager returns and just before Nemesis , where everyone is around and you do something as long as you put all the toys back in the box,” says Lanzing.

Given another chance to pitch after Year Five wrapped up, they dusted off their maps and figures and pitched what became a new Star Trek series which could span the different eras, as described by Lanzing:

We started talking about how we could take that same energy of using a character from TNG , a character from DS9 , a character from Voyager ,  a character with legacy calls to Enterprise , a character with future legacy calls to Discovery , characters that let us touch old Star Trek and new Star Trek from Lower Decks to TOS across the board. What would it look like for us to take that Star Trek and launch it as a single book? Treat the Star Trek Universe like the Marvel Universe and put together the Avengers.

The pair makes it clear they want to stick to the Prime Universe and have no plans to do any time travel. The series is not limited to a given number of issues, their only real limitation being the setting. Kelly explains:

The limit in this book, truthfully, has to do with the period in which it’s being in which it’s taking place. So as long as the book only takes place within that year and a half [before Nemesis ] it can be 50 issues, 100 issues… We’re able to flex the timeline to tell as many stories as you want within that space… It’s one of the cool things that comics gets to do in general. Time in comics is such a fun thing. How much time passes between a panel, how much time passes between an issue, these are mutable things that allow us all to work at that time.

Fulfilling Sisko’s promise to return… but with “wormhole withdrawal”

Having Benjamin Sisko lead this new series was personal for these writers. Lanzing reveals Sisko is his favorite captain and DS9’s exploration of religion helped him “reconcile what it meant to live inside of religious societies but have pluralist scientific and rationalist beliefs.” He sees the conflict that Sisko represents as being a core Star Trek story that he wants to continue to explore in this new series. And the writers also feel they are fulfilling a promise, as Lanzing explains:

I think it’s always been really clear that when Sisko went into the wormhole, Avery Brooks famously made them add the line about “I’ll be back,” because he didn’t want to abandon his son. He really felt like that was like a bad look for the first black Starfleet captain to be like, “Oh, I’m going to just leave my son.” So when he made that point, it always felt like at some point, you need to show that. You need to get back to that moment.

Kelly adds:

He is the one captain with unfinished business very much. And like that was something that we really wanted to unpack. Janeway is getting her second run in Prodigy , which is wonderful and great; it’s time for Sisko to get some get that love. And he still has so much story to tell, and we absolutely need to unpack it.

The series has Sisko returning with a mission given to him by the Prophets. While joining the Prophets made Sisko a god, having an omnipotent character doesn’t make for good storytelling. Kelly explains how they deal with this in the Star Trek series:

The story is going to start with him coming back from the wormhole. And The Prophets have a specific task for him. And what you’ll slowly discover is it is a human task. He needs to very specifically approach this not as a god but as a man, which is why they’ve sent their Emissary. So narratively it’s going to work. But yes, you cannot have a god-level character at the center of your book.

Lanzing calls this process “wormhole withdrawal,” explaining how it informs Sisko’s arc:

From the minute that he exits to the wormhole, Sisko starts to lose godhood. And every minute that passes, his omniscience is fading. And as that withdrawal extends, and goes farther and farther, you’re going to see a Sisko become more and more human, to his own frustration. And that’s a big part of why we picked him as the protagonist as it is an exciting journey to take a character on. “I reached full apotheosis. I reached Nirvana. And now to save the galaxy, that has been taken from me. And I have to instead find my own way of living forward and engage with my humanity again.”

Assembling Sisko’s crew and connecting to new Star Trek

Benjamin Sisko will not be alone on this journey. The comic series includes many familiar faces, including Jean-Luc Picard, who has some oversight over the mission. Sisko is given a new ship, the USS Theseus, which has a connection going back to the Star Trek: Year Five series . Lanzing describes the ship and mission:

The Theseus is not the flagship of the fleet. The Theseus is a weird hodgepodge ragtag science experiments of a ship that Starfleet effectively hands to Sisko because they need to give him something to complete his mission, but they’re really not sure that they understand his mission or totally like working for The Prophets in this way. Like, this is not a Starfleet mission. This is a mission from The Prophets and Starfleet is just enabling Sisko to do it.

Kelly describes Sisko’s crew:

The objective here is not ‘Sisko and His Amazing Friends.’ The objective here is a Star Trek crew that works as well as the TNG crew or the Deep Space Nine crew or the Voyager crew or the TOS crew. They just happen to be made up of characters from a bunch of other series and some new characters as well.

Data is the ship’s first officer. Beverly Crusher is the ship’s doctor, who is also keeping an eye on Sisko for Starfleet, who isn’t sure what to make of him. There are other legacy characters on board as well, including Tom Paris as the helmsman. There are some new characters, including Lilly Sato the communications officer, who is a half-Andorian descendant of Hoshi Sato from Star Trek: Enterprise , and she struggles to meet those high expectations.  And T’Lir, a non-binary Vulcan science officer.

With multiple current original Star Trek shows on Paramount+ set in or around the same era, it is important for the comic book team to ensure they remain consistent. Kelly explains, “We know what’s going on, and we are kept abreast so that everything fits together in one good continuity.” This will include incorporating characters from the new shows as well. As an example, Lanzing explains how this works with Lower Decks :

We’re talking to [ Lower Decks showrunner] Mike [McMahan] quite a bit, he’s been an invaluable resource in terms of helping us understand how to connect certain things that we’re doing to Lower Decks , and that’s going to be a little bit clearer as we move forward. We’re really distinct because we’re playing in such a different tone than Lower Decks . This book is pretty serious. It’s pretty epic-oriented. It’s a little psychedelic. But I think the thing that’s fun about it is that when we do get to take in any character from Lower Decks , seeing them within a serious context is going to be really fun because it brings out very different things.

Kelly also made it clear that even with all of these connections, nostalgia isn’t the goal of the new comic:

We really don’t want this to be kind of a nostalgia redux. We all love so much of this world, and you want to visit everywhere, but Star Trek isn’t about looking backwards. It’s about looking forwards and discovering what’s new and over the horizon. So it’s really important for us to create new stuff as well.

Giving all fans a reason to read the comics

While Star Trek comics have been around almost as long as the franchise itself, not all fans read them. But as noted before, IDW feels this new series can break through. Lanzing talked about how he feels the new Star Trek comics can be a gateway for fans to get into the comics:

If you’re a big Star Trek fan, if you love Star Trek , if you are reading TrekMovie.com, then most likely, you’re going to be interested in the kind of stories that are being told in the Star Trek comic book. These stories are—as far as we can keep them—fully canon. They’re going to reflect ideally to the shows and back to the comics. We’re going to be doing something here on a longer-term basis that ideally feels vital and feels specific and feels like a worthy follow up to some of the greatest television shows of all time, we hope. And if the medium is what’s stopping you from getting in on those stories, you just haven’t found how good the medium can be. Star Trek at this point is just a huge and diverse line of not just series or timelines, but characters. And getting to use any and all of them in a big mix and match grab-bag Avengers book is a dream come true for us as creators, and certainly would be a dream come true for us as Star Trek fans. So I really hope that the fans dig in, find that character that they’re really excited about, and start to follow that story.

Kelly is a bit more direct, simply saying:

If you’re a Trek fan, and you see a cover that has Sisko, Data, and Beverly Crusher on it, how can you not get excited? Get on board!

Interview: Brent Spiner On How Data’s Evolution In ‘Star Trek: Picard’ Fits Gene Roddenberry’s Original Plan

If I missed it, I’ll apologize, but I’d be curious if this has Avery Brooks blessing? Or was he even consulted?

Why would they need his blessing? Why would he need to be consulted? That’s not how licensing works. If you’re referring to the use of his likeness, he has allowed that since the show was on the air, which is why Sisko has appeared on many book covers and in many comics. This is just the latest licensed property to feature the character, which is owned by CBS, not Avery Brooks. So I’m not sure I understand the question. Avery Brooks has no say at all in what happens to Sisko.

Why on Bajor would anyone ever need to do that for a comic book?

Exactly. There are close to a thousand Star Trek comic books, and more than 400 from IDW alone. If they didn’t need to consult the actors or get their blessing on the other 999, would they need to on this one? Plus, did they get blessings or consultations for this issue from Brent Spiner? Patrick Stewart? Robert Duncan McNeill? Gates McFadden? Cirroc Lofton? Of course not, since that’s not how licensing works. :)

Well, I suppose if we are all going to pretend that Patrick Stewart and Kate Mulgrew don’t have discussions on the creation of content for their respective characters, you all may have a point. However, we know those discussions occur, even if it is just a courtesy. For all the chatter about wanting to see Mr. Brooks back, and because he clearly is sensitive to proper and correct perceptions of Benjamin Sisko, anything that lessens the character reduces the likelihood of him returning. I’d not be so caviler about not wanting to have his input, as a fan of the character and Mr. Brooks work.

The objective here is not ‘Sisko and His Amazing Friends.’ The objective here is a Star Trek crew that works as well as the TNG crew or the Deep Space Nine crew or the Voyager crew or the TOS crew. They just happen to be made up of characters from a bunch of other series, and some new characters as well.

Someone’s heard the criticism of PIC. ;) But, in all seriousness, very good interview. I already had the series on preorder, but this has given me a little anticipation spike.

I know this is a tiny point, but cripes, yet another uniform variation? Just stop it! :-)

It’s true. And they are ALL really derivative of the TNG uniforms. Like, try something dramatically different, if you’re going with something different. I do like them putting the doctor in white though.

I don’t bother with Trek comics very much, but I might give this a try. The creators are kidding themselves if they think these are canon, however. But I’m not going to go down that road. When Trek fans start arguing about canon I invariably want to fire people out of one.

In my personal opinion, the idea of whether or not something is canon is meaningless. Fans (and this isn’t directed at you–it’s a generalization) spend far too much time obsessing over that, yet it doesn’t matter. (Mods: I say that with no gatekeeping intended. Fans are free of course to focus on canon if they wish to, and it doesn’t make them any less fans than those who don’t. I just personally think it misses the point.) That endless argument started in the 1990s, with the rise of the Internet. Before that, fans either enjoyed stories or they didn’t. All this obsession over whether or not things carry the “canon” label has, in my opinion, seriously hurt pretty much every fandom. Licensed stories are, by definition, not canon since TV and film writers are free to ignore them. Lanzing and Kelly are very good writers, but I wish Lanzing hadn’t perpetuated this pointless argument by falsely claiming the comics are canon. If Avery Brooks agreed to come back tomorrow, it’s a guarantee that his show would ignore this comic, just like PICARD ignored Countdown. That, by definition, means it’s not part of the imaginary pointlessness known as canon. What matters to me isn’t whether or not Countdown or Lanzing’s series are canon, but whether or not they’re good reads. Countdown is, and this looks like it will be too.

I’m excited to read this. But really, I just want to see Avery Brooks act again. His tenderness with Jake and the love he showed as a father gets me every damn time as a father myself

Read it. Hated it. Dislike this Avengers team up approach. I’ll wait for Sisko’s real return on TV. This doesn’t count.

was pleasantly surprised a certain TOS character appeared in this story

Star Trek TOS: The God of War

Last night’s Star Trek game was one of the most enjoyable games I’ve run in a long time! Partly it was my own love of the Star Trek setting, partly it was the enthusiasm of the players (notably Robert with his props and wardrobe), and partly it was the cinematic nature of the Fate RPG which I think was a great fit for this setting.

The Characters

Lt. Cmdr. T'shani

Lt. Cmdr. T’shani

We had the following characters:

  • Capt. Lorn Harper (Human, Commanding Officer) — played by Robert
  • Cmdr. Arlin Cross (Human, 1st Officer) — played by Mason
  • Lt. Cmdr. Mac’Vor (Half-Vulcan, Chief Engineer) — played by Todd
  • Lt. Kelly Bishop (Human, Comm Officer) — played by Martin

We also had one notable NPC —  Lt. Cmdr. T’shani (Vulcan, Chief Medical Officer) — who for some reason received a lot of attention in the game. 🙂

The story opened on  Stardate 41661.7 , where the U.S.S. Ares was exploring an uncharted system on the fringe of Federation space.

USS Ares 1

U.S.S. Ares

Energy signatures indicated a recent battle. The crew of the Ares investigated and learned that a Human-looking peaceful race called the Coborati were attacked by a warlike neighboring species called the Bellani. The Bellani were 3 meters tall with soft features and elongated necks and limbs, led by a mysterious figure called “The Oracle” who was said to be their “God of War”.

After a starship battle with the Bellani, chief medical officer Lt. Cmdr. T’shani, along with a few other crew, are captured by one the Bellani ships which then jumps to warp.

The U.S.S. Ares then travels to the nearby planet Cobor. The Federation crew hatched a plan to use a captured Bellani scout ship to infiltrate the Bellani homeworld, rescue T’shani and her companions, and unravel the mystery of the God of War.

Eventually, assisted by Bellani resistance fighters, the crew managed to insert themselves into the Bellani prison where T’shani and companions were held. The companions were then summoned to appear before The God of War. Obtaining their phasers smuggled in by the Bellani resistance fighters, Capt. Harper led a fight against The God of War. After sufficient taunting by the Federation crew, The God of War in his anger began to lose his shape. He was a Changeling, not a Bellani, who had duped the Bellani people for many years! As the fight ended, the Bellani government officials realized they had been deceived and renounced their erstwhile ‘god’ and entered negotiations to enter the Federation and forsake their warmongering ways.

Rules Observations

I’ll make a separate post on rules that we need to look up or master. The Starship rules worked well I think, with the Fate Fractal making it easy to run the combat using ships treated as characters. The ‘Shields’ house-rule letting you know ‘shields are at 94%!’ was a nice bit of flavor which mapped to the Stress boxes as you tracked damage.

There was some great roleplaying! Things I remember:

  • Mason played a character with a ‘Lady’s Man’ aspect. His distraction when seeing the attractive Alani (a Coborati officer) led to him botching a control panel repair job, which resulted in the reactivation of a previously suppressed transponder inside a rescued Bellani escape pod reactivating. Shortly thereafter, 7 Bellani warships emerged from Warp and confronted the heroes. Later, Mason’s character acted on an aspect and wandered off to explore the back-alleys of Cobor, only to be confronted by Alani’s jealous husband. I love how Fate mechanics tie into getting yourself into trouble 🙂
  • Robert was in great form doing a Shatner-style captain. I loved it! His props were second to none as well.
  • Todd worked his ever-impressive Scottish accent for his engineering role.
  • I was impressed with how quickly Martin picked up on the Fate rules. He slid into great, genre-specific roleplaying. Loved how his attempts at Empathy and negotiation served as the foil for the trigger-happy, Kirk-style Capt. Harper!

'Emissary of The Prophets': Star Trek's Ben Sisko Finally Embraces Godhood in Breathtaking New Artwork (Exclusive)

  • Star Trek's Benjamin Sisko is being viewed in a new, divine light in a series of breathtaking "stained glass" comic covers.
  • The new Star Trek covers by JJ Lendl depict holy, god-like beings such as Trelane - and hint at trouble in the "Realm of the Gods."
  • Sisko's long awaited reckoning with the Prophets may change his uneasy relationship with being "The Emissary" when this story is told.

Star Trek ’s beloved captain Benjamin Sisko, now known as the “Emissary of the Prophets” since his post- Deep Space Nine return, may finally be granted true 'divine' status in breathtaking new artwork. IDW’s flagship Star Trek title will soon begin a new storyline involving the franchise’s god-like beings, and will see Sisko finally confront the mysterious Prophets. To celebrate this epic story, artist JJ Lendl has created stunning “stained-glass” artwork featuring the book’s characters, and now ScreenRant is pleased to bring fans a first look.

The entirety of J.J. Lendl’s art spans the covers for Star Trek #19-24, and is included below in full connected glory. As fans will recognize, each of the covers features a prominent member of the Theseus’ crew front and center, with other secondary characters--some of them notably god-like beings--getting their divine depictions as well.

Heather Antos, group editor of IDW’s Star Trek line, explained the reasoning for the covers, attributing the idea completely to Lendl, saying that the first sketch he turned in was good enough to run as a final cover:

"A lot of what this year of Star Trek has been about is dealing with the gods. And in this next arc of Star Trek... let's just say we're bringing the gods to the party in this book. There's a lot of religious allegory that's going on. J.J. is actually the one who came up with the stained glass concepts. He's just so brilliant, so talented, the way his mind thinks in design is just beyond anyone else I've ever worked with, how quickly he comes up with these ideas. I just asked him if he wanted to do a set of connecting variants for this upcoming arc called Blue roadmap for Star Trek, it's going to be six issues, we're visiting the gods and finally confronting them basically. All of this has been building to this moment where Sisko gets to go and have a chat, if you will, with the Prophets. And J.J. just took it and ran. He came back literally the next day with, 'What do you think about this?" This incredible stained glass sketch that, basically, we could have printed as final because it was so good. I mean, you've seen it yourself, it's beautiful, an absolutely beautiful set of covers. All J.J. Lendl, I take no credit."

Captain Sisko Is Heading for A Showdown With the Prophets (and Gods In General)

The comics' devastating "god war" is far from over.

Star Trek’s forthcoming story arc, titled “The Pleroma,” will continue the series’ exploration of the galaxy’s relationship with their gods, a fact Antos notes, saying the gods come “to the party” in it. In the book’s inaugural storyline, the Klingon Emperor Kahless declared war on the gods of the galaxy, building a fantastic weapon capable of actually killing them. Kahless is stopped by Captain Ben Sisko and Worf and the crews of the Defiant and the Theseus , but is still at large and still nursing a grudge against the gods.

A lot of what this year of Star Trek has been about is dealing with the gods. And in this next arc of Star Trek... let's just say we're bringing the gods to the party in this book. There's a lot of religious allegory that's going on.

Lendl’s variant covers, as mentioned earlier, feature some of the god-like beings that have been seen on the various Star Trek shows over the years. The Organians, the Metrons, Trelane, and Nagilum put in appearances on the covers, perhaps hinting at their involvement in “The Pleroma.” The Pleroma, just introduced itself, is the “Realm of the Gods” in the Star Trek universe, and previous issues have hinted that trouble is brewing in it. The gods barely escaped Kahless the first time, and with the added threat of Lore factored in, the Pleroma could be in danger.

Ben Sisko Has Always Been Uneasy About Being "The Emissary"

Will sisko's experiences in the god war change his mind.

And while the galaxy’s gods tremble in anticipation, Captain Sisko will have a reckoning with the Prophets, as Antos alludes. Just as Star Trek has explored humanity’s relationship with its gods, the book has also looked at Sisko’s dealings with the Prophets. After sending him back, they have had a testy relationship and matters may be coming to a head in “The Pleroma.” Sisko has a destiny as the Prophets’ emissary, and JJ Lendl’s new Star Trek variant covers see him embrace his godhood.

Fans will want to be sure to stay tuned for more exclusive Trek news, including the newly-announced Star Trek: Celebrations one-shot , and be sure to start their stained glass collection when Star Trek #19 arrives on April 17 from IDW Publishing.

Recent Sony Report Puts the Nail in the Coffin for a God of War Rumor

A recent Sony report regarding PlayStation releases may doom a heavily rumored God of War game before it's even announced.

  • Atreus may take the spotlight in a rumored half-sequel similar to Spider-Man's Miles Morales spin-off game, but no official confirmation yet.
  • Sony has confirmed no major first-party releases in 2024, casting doubt on rumors of a God of War half-sequel or new installment.
  • Rumors abound about God of War projects, including potential remakes, remasters, and half-sequels, but fans must wait for official announcements after the recent report regarding no major first-party games coming this fiscal year.

The God of War games are no longer just the story of Kratos. They also follow his son, Atreus, as he grows into his own power and learns about the bloody past of his monosyllable-speaking father. Following the success of God of War Ragnarok and the Valhalla DLC, fans have been speculating over a rumored half-sequel that could give Atreus the lion's share of the spotlight. Atreus could be to Kratos as Miles Morales is to Spider-Man in the Insomniac Games: a worthy successor to the franchise and a fresh character through which players could explore the world.

But reports about a secret half-sequel have to be taken with a grain of salt, of course, because there has not been any official word about it from Sony or Sony Santa Monica, the studio behind the games. After the release of the Valhalla DLC, the studio appears to be working on an untitled, third-person action game. This could very well be that as-yet announced half-sequel, but given recent reports from Sony president, COO, and CFO Hiroki Totoki, no new major IP will be released on PS5 this fiscal year , and PlayStation in general.

What God of War Ragnarok's Half-Sequel Could Learn From Marvel's Miles Morales

Sony confirms no major first-party releases in 2024.

No one has announced what the next big thing from Sony Santa Monica is, and even if it was the Atreus-led half-sequel or a new installment in the God of War series, it still has a long way to go before release. Sony president Hiroki Totoki has thoroughly quashed any confirmation of big-name games releasing this year. Sony's latest financial report hasn't totally denied the idea of a half-sequel, but it does state that there will be no major releases from existing franchises in 2024. Specifically, Totoki said, "...we do not plan to release any new major existing franchise titles next fiscal year like God of War Ragnarok and Marvelʼs Spider-Man ."

God of War Half-Sequel Rumors

While there is no official definition separating "half-sequel" from "DLC," half-sequels are typically defined as standalone expansions that can be considered games distinct from, but connected to, the previous title in the series.

Rumors about what's next for the God of War franchise kicked off with a tweet from a leaker called ViewerAnon on Twitter, who alleged that Sony Santa Monica is working on " God of War stuff," whether that be more God of War Ragnarok DLC or a half-sequel . They wrote that half-sequels are a good approach to filling the gap between AAA title releases and that these smaller-scale games could be good opportunities for newer, greener developers to work on big franchise titles like God of War . This speculation about Sony Santa Monica working on a God of War title seemed to be supported by a job posting asking for combat designers with God of War gameplay experience.

There have also been rumors, from The Xbox Era Podcast, about a possible remake or remaster of the original God of War trilogy . It is entirely possible that the project is in development, but being kept carefully under wraps. The same goes for the hypothetical half-sequel. Perhaps instead of any actual releases, Sony will make some exciting announcements about future projects later this year. PlayStation's 2024 State of Play in January focused on new games like Rise of the Ronin and sequels like Death Stranding 2 . There are other events, like June's Summer Games Fest and The Game Awards in December, that would be worthy platforms for big God of War announcements.

2024 will be devoid of any major first-party releases from Sony , but that doesn't mean the company won't share news of remasters, remakes, sequels, or half-sequels when the time is right. Hopefully, fans will have some more information about what's next for God of War later this year, but until Sony gives official word, fans will have to take any rumors about upcoming God of War releases with a grain of salt.

Star wars' new jedi form is one of the most unque beings to ever wield a lightsaber.

Marvel Comics' High Republic comics have revealed the true and rather unique form of its most "boring" Jedi master in the Star Wars galaxy.

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: The High Republic #4

  • Jedi Master OrbaLin uses his unique form and boring demeanor to outwit enemies and aid allies.
  • OrbaLin's true form is revealed as a green blob without his containment suit, showcasing diverse Jedi appearances.
  • The High Republic introduces OrbaLin as one of the most fascinating Jedi, proving Jedi diversity in both shape and form.

Star Wars has just revealed the true form of one of its most "boring" Jedi in the High Republic Era . While typically an age of peace and prosperity, the High Republic has been facing some key threats in the form of the Nihil marauders and their successful destruction of the Republic and Jedi's Starlight Beacon. However, the aftermath featured in the ongoing High Republic comics has shown readers one of the most fascinating Jedi Knights in the entire Star Wars canon.

In The High Republic #4 by Cavan Scott, Jim Towe, & Marika Cresta, Jedi Master Keeve Trennis and her allies Ceret and Terec have gone rogue, disobeying the Jedi Council to save Keeve's old master Sskeer who's rumored to be behind the Stormwall, a lightspeed-preventing device which stops most ships from entering the Occlusion Zone, the region of space the Nihil claimed after Starlight's fall. Joined by the recently captured Lourna Dee , the former Nihil is guiding the Jedi into enemy territory when Keeve suddenly clashes with one of the most unique beings to ever wield a lightsaber :

Remarkably, this new Jedi entering The High Republic series is none other than Jedi Archivist OrbaLin, albeit without his traditional containment suit as seen in previous High Republic comics and novels. With the suit having kept him in a more humanoid shape, OrbaLin's true form is far more amorphous, effectively being a Force-sensitive green blob with an adoration of the Jedi Order's ancient history.

Star Wars Movies In Order: How To Watch Release Order, Chronologically & With The TV Shows

Jedi master orbalin could bore his enemies to victory, an archivist for the jedi order.

Despite being shot through the head of his containment suit during the chaos of Starlight Beacon's fall (by Lourna Dee of all people), it seems as though Ugor such as OrbaLin don't actually have heads to shoot. Instead, Orbalin was able to slip away despite no longer having his suit, aiding other Jedi and helping them get to escape pods along with Jedi Master Goonral Monshi. However, the duo ended up behind the Stormwall upon landing.

Remarkably, OrbaLin had been established as a rather boring Jedi archivist whom even with fellow Jedi had a hard time conversing with. He could even bore his enemies, a tactic that worked to his advantage. During the Republic Fair on Valo, Orbalin lectured his Nihil assailants on the various Jedi artifacts and their histories while simultaneously using them as weapons (throwing them at the marauders).

OrbaLin Proves He's One Of The High Republic's Most Fascinating Jedi

Though he may, admittedly, still sound boring.

It seems as though OrbaLin's containment suit was simply to make other beings more comfortable while helping him navigate various devices typically fashioned with humanoids in mind. In actuality, OrbaLins's true form is incredibly fascinating, providing him with a range of unique movements that will hopefully be shown in future High Republic issues . While he still may sound boring when he talks about the Jedi's history, it's quite clear that OrbaLin is one of the most interesting-looking Jedi in the entire Star Wars canon, proving that Jedi can come in all shapes and sizes (or no shape at all).
