Dublin Pedal Tours takes you on a 15-seater covered pedal bus with no engine, just pure human pedal power. They are known for their laughter, cheers and music that bring a smile as they pass by.
There are 3 different types of tours available, each lasting 2 hours plus:
1. Sightseeing pub tour which brings you around the sights of Dublin and lets you stop for a rest in some of Dublin's well-known pubs to stretch the legs and take some refreshments.
2. Those who don’t wish to stop can just cycle from place to place around Dublin - an unusual and amusing way to see the city's sights!
3. Or try the Musical sightseeing tour which stops at places which are connected to famous Irish musicians. Connect your phone or device to play your own music on board while taking in the sights of Dublin.
Catering for groups from 8 to 48 people, Dublin Pedal Tours is a great way of seeing Dublin and is very "photo friendly". They are located between the General Post Office and Penney's on Prince's St. North, off O'Connell St, Dublin.
Dublin Pedal Tours Prices – Everything You Need to Know
- 2024-03-07 2024-03-07
Welcome to Dublin, the vibrant capital of Ireland! If you’re looking for a fun and unique way to explore the city, Dublin pedal tours are the perfect option. Not only do these tours provide an exciting way to see the sights, but they also offer an eco-friendly and active experience. In this article, we’ll break down everything you need to know about Dublin pedal tours prices, ensuring you have all the information you need to budget and plan your trip accordingly.
1. Understanding Dublin Pedal Tours
Dublin pedal tours are bicycle tours with a twist. Instead of traditional bicycles, you’ll be riding on a specially designed pedal-powered vehicle known as a “pedal pub” or “pedibus.” These unique vehicles can accommodate a group of people and are equipped with pedals, seats, and a beer tap for those who want to enjoy a drink while exploring the city.
1.1 How Do Dublin Pedal Tours Work?
During a Dublin pedal tour, a professional guide will lead your group through the city, taking you to popular attractions, historical sites, and hidden gems. You and your fellow tour-goers will pedal together, allowing you to actively participate in the tour while enjoying the beautiful streets of Dublin.
1.2 Group Size and Duration
Most Dublin pedal tours accommodate groups of up to 15 people. The duration of the tour can vary, but it typically lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours, giving you plenty of time to explore various landmarks and neighborhoods.
2. Dublin Pedal Tours Prices
Now, let’s dive into the Dublin pedal tours prices, so you can plan your budget accordingly. The cost of a Dublin pedal tour depends on several factors, including the group size and the duration of the tour.
2.1 Group Size
The prices for Dublin pedal tours are often quoted per group, rather than per person. The larger the group, the higher the overall cost of the tour. Generally, the cost per group ranges from €150 to €300.
2.2 Duration
The duration of the tour also impacts the price. Longer tours may incur additional costs. Prices for a 1.5 to 2-hour Dublin pedal tour can range from €150 to €300, depending on the service provider.
2.3 Booking and Additional Costs
It’s important to note that while the base price often covers the tour itself, additional costs may apply. These may include drinks, snacks, and gratuities for the tour guide. Make sure to check with the tour provider and clarify what is included in the price to avoid any surprises.
3. How to Choose a Dublin Pedal Tour
With several tour providers to choose from, finding the right Dublin pedal tour can be overwhelming. To help you make the best decision, consider the following factors:
3.1 Tour Routes and Itineraries
Each Dublin pedal tour offers a unique route and itinerary. Some may focus on historical landmarks, while others explore the city’s vibrant pub scene. Research the available options and choose a tour that matches your interests.
3.2 Customer Reviews and Ratings
Check customer reviews and ratings of different Dublin pedal tour providers. This will give you insights into the quality of the tour experience and the level of customer satisfaction. Platforms like TripAdvisor and Google Reviews are great resources for this information.
3.3 Additional Services and Amenities
Consider any additional services or amenities provided by the tour company. Some may include complimentary drinks, onboard entertainment, or the option to customize the tour according to your preferences. These added perks can enhance your overall experience.
4. Booking a Dublin Pedal Tour
Once you’ve chosen the perfect Dublin pedal tour, booking is a breeze. Most tour providers offer online booking services through their official websites. Simply select your preferred date, time, and group size, and follow the instructions to confirm your reservation. Make sure to review the cancellation policy and payment methods accepted before finalizing the booking.
5. Tips for a Great Dublin Pedal Tour Experience
To make the most of your Dublin pedal tour, consider the following tips:
- Dress comfortably and wear weather-appropriate clothing. Dublin’s weather can be unpredictable, so be prepared!
- Arrive a few minutes early to ensure a smooth check-in process and avoid any delays.
- Bring a camera or smartphone to capture the memorable moments during the tour.

Greg Konsor
Early 50's retired commodity trader. Father of 4 adventurous sons. Biking is an extension of my personality. I love to travel (best on bike), experience art , garden and engage with the local citizens where ever I may be. I spent 2 years in the Peace Corps in Belize in the late 80's where bicycling was my means of transportation and from that point biking has been important part of my lifestyle. I have done week long rides but have not had the time for extended rides until now. I'm really excited for this ride!!!!!!!!
Married to Judy. Both rode LEJOG in 2014, TDA Bamboo Road in 2015, the first third of TDA Trans-Europa in 2016, the TDA Odyssey in 2017, the TDA Pub Ride in 2018, and the last 80% of TDA's North American Epic (so for us Banff to Panama) in 2019. This tour will be my first on an e-bike. My superpower is finding coffee stops.
Married to Tim Sole, who is also on the tour. This will be my sixth TDA trip having previously done the Bamboo Road, part of the Transeuropa, the Odyssey, the Pub Ride and 80% of the North American Epic (Jasper to Panama). Greatly enjoyed cycling LEJOG (Lands End to John O' Groats) and the South Island of New Zealand.

I am a veterinarian who loves adventure. I have always wanted to go on an extended bike ride and this tour seemed to fit the bill. I have ridden RAGBRAI and completed numerous long distance cycling events. I love to hike- trekking to the summit of Kilimanjaro and in Nepal. I love eco travel and have used my profession to enable me to work around the world. I have three adult children who encourage me to explore, travel and in the words of Captain Kirk of the USS Enterprise- "To boldly go where "I " have never been before". First TDA tour was the Pub Ride and it was fabulous. Now I am hooked on cycle touring!
Gordon Mazurek
Completed the Pub Ride in 2018. Enjoy cycling and looking forward to experiencing SE Asia and meeting old and new TDA friends.
Greg Crawford
I am 69 years old and a retired ATM repairman. My wife Sue and I have been married for 47 years and love to ride our tandem. We rode across the US in 2007, just the two of us.
Sue Crawford
Retired. Like to tour by bicycle. Have tandemed coast to coast in US & recently Iowa to Montana. Enjoy fiber arts (spinning, weaving, clothing construction/alterations). Like various architectural structures as related to local customs & lifestyles. Have toured/visited Scotland, Australia, Mexico & Tanzania.
I love to travel, and bicycle touring is my preferred way to see the world. This will be my first tour since Covid cancelled many plans. I’ve enjoyed 4 full TDA tours: Indian Adventure, Ruta Maya, Pub Ride, West Africa en Vélo. I’m excited to see Korea and more of Japan than Tokyo. I have travelled lots, but my list of places to visit never gets any shorter. I became a teacher, mainly because of the holidays, and I am now semi-retired, doing occasional teaching in between travels. Looking forward to renewing old friendships and making new ones. Now I need to get cycling again!
Christiane Selenz
This is my seventh tour with TdA. The first one was 2010 in the Eastern European countries which got me hooked to this kind of travelling. Now, I am curious to explore Korea and Japan from the saddle of my bike. So looking forward to meet old and new riders.

Gergo Szanyi
Hi there, My name is Gergo [Grrr-go], I'm from Budapest, Hungary. I graduated in Visual Communications, since then I am dealing with photography, film and all sorts of graphic design projects. After more than a decade of annual and occasional bike touring with my family and friends in the late 80's and 90's, a couple of seasons of mountain bike racing, and quite a few years of "just" sitting in an office, in 2005 I bounced into a magazine article about the Tour of Freaks... I mean... the Tour d'Afrique. It made me wonder: how such distance is even doable on a bicycle? Fast forward to the following January: I found myself in Cairo, at the start line of the 4th edition of TDA! I successfully completed the full tour as the first (and only) Hungarian in the TDA's history. What a great adventure it was! Next year, in 2007 I crossed the Himalaya by bike, riding with a friend from Lhasa to Kathmandu. On this trip we had a great off-road ride up to the "North Base Camp" of Mount Everest in Tibet, China at 5,150 metres (16,900 ft) above sea level. This is where this profile photograph was taken. In 2010 we circumnavigated the island of Cuba with Eszter. Self-supported, with the help of an outdated, but then only available paper map. Since then I did the Amber Route, a couple of Orient Express tours, Trans Europas, Odysseys and the PubRides. In the summer of 2020 we completed a long distance all self-supported bicycle tour with the kids (then aged 1 and 6) with tents, a tandem and trailers.

Hi I'm really looking forward to the trip. I'm English born but have spent most of my life in Australia. Cycling is a big part of my life I'm on the road or MTB everyday - sometimes twice a day. I'm committed to drinking coffee and sharing post ride beer! Riding is great but it's the social side and comraderie that makes it worthwhile. I've spent time in the Alps and Pyrenees, and done some riding in Vietnam from South to North. Looking forward to combining my love of travel, the outdoors and cycling with like minded people
Hanns Fellenz
Married 42 years, 4 children, 3 grandchildren. Retired CIO World traveler; 2 circumnavigations by air and train on 5 continents. TDA Epics x 4 (so far)

An active rider but never a long tour such as London to Copenhagen. Retired from a life in IT but still keep busy with directorships. Really looking forward to the ride - the scenery, adventure and laughter. My training is advanced on the Pub piece, Abbeys not so much and I am working hard on the riding!
Brett Lanham
I’m an ex seafarer, retired now for 10 years, fortunate enough to have been able to get away on a bike tour with TdA every year since 2011, until 2020 that was! I look forward to catching up with friends from past rides and meeting new ones and sharing this great adventure with a beer, or two.
Daniel Frye
Hello, I'm a retired oceanographer and I've taken up cycle touring as a replacement for running and backpacking, which I'm no longer able to do. My wife and I have done several previous trips with TDA (Orient Express, TransOceania 2014, the South American Epic, and Tour d'Afrique, among others) and we're looking forward to another interesting and challenging experience this year in Australia and New Zealand. Looking forward to meeting all the riders and seeing old friends.
ROBERT MACKENZIE

Is there a more challenging, charming, or humbling way to travel the World and discover it’s people and treasures? If there is, I haven’t come across it yet, and perhaps I wish not to. I have been a bicycle mechanic for over ten years and it has led me towards new adventures and friendships. Here’s to clean and lubed chains, straight wheels, and a comfy saddle! See you on the next adventure!

Looking forward to the ride, enough of the Covid 19 issues! A chance to see a few new countries, drink some beer, and meet some new riders.
Donald Morris
Had so much fun on the 2022 Pub Ride and 3 sections of the 2023 TransEuropa that I had to sign up again. Looking forward to the challenges and celebrations. Bringing along a few friends; hoping to meet some new ones as we did on the earlier TDA tours. Maybe I will lose a few pounds this time LOL.
Theresa Morris
I am a retired teacher who is involved in a lot of different activities, mostly involving music. I joined my husband, Donnie, on the Pub Tour in 2022, and part of the TransEuropa in 2023. Obviously a sucker for punishment, I’ve signed up for another one, but fingers crossed, it seems less hilly. And this time, we’re excited to share the adventure with our good friends, Joanne and Gary, who are joining TDA for the first time. Looking forward to sharing beers and stories with old and new friends. Cheers!
Nancy Stueve
Avid road cyclist who loves seeing new places from a bike seat.
Maria Victoria Cardini
Retired. Hobbies: travels, movies and technology
After completing the Pub Ride this year, it was not a question of “if” we were doing another TDA tour, it was a question of “When”. My wife and I can’t wait to join Trans Europa in Venice next August
Rachel Chandler
After meeting so many great friends on the Pub Ride, I’m excited to join this adventure! I'm not the fastest cyclist, nor am I fond of hills, but I’ll get the job done. Besides, there’s always a beer at the end! I'm excited to join great friends, meet new ones, and share this adventure with my husband, Mark!
Jennie Wells
I’ve been a cyclist since 2015, riding with Railway City Cycling Club (RC3) of St. Thomas, Ontario since 2016. My best friends are my cycling companions, also on RC3 who travelled with me on the 2022 Pub Ride. We enjoy gravel rides, viewing scenic shores of Lake Erie, Lake Ontario or the Georgian Bay, along with good food and drink at local breweries after the ride.
Susan Silcox
I retired in 2020 after 32 years as a medical social worker. I've been cycling avidly since I was 16 years old, have participated in a number of organized cycling events, and have been an active member of the Railway City Cycling Club in St. Thomas, Ontario for the past 5 years. I'm a past member of the Forest City Velodrome in London, Ontario. The Pub Ride in 2022 was my first tour with TDA, and I had a blast! I’m really looking forward to cycling from Venice to Barcelona with some of my Pub Ride cyclists and meeting new cyclists!
JULIE RICHERT
HI there! I'm Julie from Port Townsend Washington. This will be my third TDA tour. Cycling through Europe is the best.

Signing up for another tour. I Enjoyed the Pub Ride with many people on this current tour. Looking to have another great time, even with Mark coming along, LOL.... I ride in Niagara Ontario. Dave Kenyon
I'm a Veterinarian currently living in the UK, having lived most of my life in South Africa. I enjoy the outdoors and like to run, swim and cycle. I've also done a bit of horse riding and played golf, but there's only so much time and you need to focus! My favourite pastime is scuba diving (I'm a PADI DM). I really love my work as a vet, but I'm 55 years old now and starting to look at retirement. My ultimate goal is to do the full Tour d'Afrique in 2027. I will be aged 59!! I did the second half of the Pub Ride (London to Copenhagen) in 2022 and absolutely loved it! So I'm booked to do the first half (Dublin to London) next year (2024) and I'm planning to do other European tours each year after that.
I am a 70 year-old that has always been active, with gym-workouts, running, and biking. I completed the Viva Italia in the fall of 2019 and was impressed. As a result, i have signed up for many more adventures; however, we all know how that has worked out! The Pub Ride fits perfectly within my life: I am a lover of activity and of beer :).
Xufeng(Gail) Cascketta
I am retired, and love to explore the world by cycling. Have done some self-supported tours. This will be my fourth cycling tour with TDA.

“Working outdoors is phenomenal.”
When TDA need local support for translations in Turkey in 2014, I entered the picture. Before TDA, I lived year-round there, in Izmir. Now I live on the road eight months of the year; the rest of the time I’m in Turkey, either applying for visas or rock-climbing.
Sometimes on a tour our failures are as incredible as our successes. Being defeated as my tour attempted to climb a new route on Koca Sarp, a rocky mountain in central Anatolia, is an experience I’ll always remember.
I’ve seen so much of the world with TDA. My favourite place I’ve been so far is Meteora, Greece. Probably the greatest pleasure of cycle-touring for me is never spending more than two days in a row in the same spot.
Murray Burr
I am looking forward to doing the Pub Ride in 2024. It will be a great experience to once again sample other cultures, tastes and flavours from the other side of the world. I'm hoping to get to Paschendale whilst there to see where my Grandfather and 2 of his brothers fought during WW1. Having done TdA2017 I am confident the ride will be well organised and with great crew. Meeting new friends and a few fellow alumni will add to the adventure.

Starting to lose track of how many TDA trips we've done! I think this will be #8. Really looking forward to riding in the British Isles as we have wanted to go there for awhile now.
Have been a cyclist since '92 doing a variety of things including commuting to work, week long rides, after work group rides and more recently longer duration rides including one across the Arctic Circle in the Northwest Territories and the Yukon of Canada. I enjoyed the challenges and scenery of the Outback and the terrain of New Zealand on the 2016 Trans Oceania tour. Rode the Bamboo trail and enjoyed it immensely. Had an overall good time on the Hippie Trail. The food was great and the whole experience was incredible.
Karen Bartels
I enjoy all sorts of outdoor activities, including hiking, kayaking, canoeing, road and gravel biking, and camping. I dabble in pottery and photography. I am a semi-retired college instructor, teaching geology and mathematics part-time.
Patricia Long
I am a veterinarian still practicing in Southern California, USA. I have been an avid outdoor enthusiast all my life and enjoy kayaking, skiing, camping, exploring etc. My youth was spent skiing, on a motorcycle (dirt bike) and horseback riding as our area was poor for bicycles. Lots of thorny plants = many flat tires. I came to bicycling later in life and found I enjoy longer rides and tours. Did the western half of the Northern Tier USA as my longest ride and really enjoyed just getting out on my bike and riding. I have not traveled much out of the US and Canada. Went to NZ and Austria hiking. Loved exploring small villages and enjoyed the beer for sure. I will be riding w/ my partner Karen Bartels on this trip. I am really looking forward to good riding, good company and the thrill of a new adventure!
Peter Donkers
My first bike tour was in 1988; 6 months through much of Western Europe on a 1st generation hard tail mountain bike outfitted with 4 panniers. Fast forward through a life with a career, kids and a shed filled with bicycles, cycle touring still remains at the core of what I love to do. Now with grandkids and (mostly) retired, I figured it might be nice to have someone else carry my bags for a change. I am fortunate to live on the Unceded Traditional Territory of the K’omoks First Nation on beautiful Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. In addition to the love of cycling, the love for beer comes a close second making the Pub Tour a perfect pairing.
Sally Weatherald
Now retired, I have the time and money to complete more adventures and continue to explore the world. I love history, cultures and meeting people from all walks of the life. I'm a passionate fitness person, cyclists, and walker/hiker.

Hello! This is my first cycling tour, and I look forward to the experience shared with my co-workers, Charles Gipson, Janella Chu, and Florence Bhatia, and all the new friends I will meet on the tour. I spent the first 30 years of my career working as a European-trained pastry chef and instructor in the San Francisco Bay Area and Napa Valley in California. For the past 13 years, I have worked with adolescents and their families as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

Hi there! My name is Janella, and this is my first bike tour. I'm super excited for this experience, and I can't wait to see so many parts of Europe!
Avid rider from the middle of the country. Have completed 4 RAGBRAI's (on my single bike) and the Adventure Cycling Southern Tier Epic Tour (with my wife on our Co-motion Tandem). Also have ridden a couple other Adventure Cycling tours. This Pub Tour seems to be ideal for me because my favorite rides in the Des Moines metro area are from my home to the breweries that are in the surrounding towns.
I live in Ankeny, Iowa. I am a retired pharmacist. We have 3 grown children. My husband and I began cycling in 2015. We have done RAGBRAI 4 times. We have also done several cycling tours in the U.S. with various organizations.
David Hughes
Retired engineer and business owner. Ex charter fishing and diving boat captain. Avid cyclist, snow skier, diver, fisherman etc. Road race cars for a hobby, engine builder for the team.
Thomas (Ted) Davis
Almost retired and somewhat new to cycling. Can't think of a better way to see the world!!
Iain Souter
....slowly inching towards full retirement. Avid cyclist, all types, road, gravel, cyclocross, MTB and winter fat biking. Skiing fulfils my off season outdoor pursuits. I've done lots of weekend multi day rides, but this will be my first bike tour and figured the "Pub Tour" would be a great initiation!....Looking forward to the trip...
Wayne McDaniel
My wife, Jude, and I are both riding this trip. We have done a number of long distance rides in the US. I have done one international trip in Nicaragua. We have two grown kids, two grandkids and a dog.

I am a long time cycling enthusiast--a road rider who has guided multi-week trips abroad, commuted starting in the 1980's, and rides at home, just for fun! Home is in Minneapolis, but winters are mostly spent in Santa Barbara, CA now, since working remotely is possible. I am a teacher and practitioner of classical homeopathy, have worked full time for 40 years, and now am reducing my schedule to make room for some other things. This trip has been a dream in my mind, only. I finally have time to make it a reality!

DUBLIN PEDAL TOURS - All You Need to Know BEFORE You Go
The 7 BEST Dublin Pub Crawl Tours + Information for Self-Guided Crawls
It is no secret that Dublin is a big drinking city and has fantastic nightlife; did you know that Dublin has over 700 pubs across the city? I remember thinking it was like Starbucks in America – one on every corner! And if you are looking to get the full Irish experience, you will likely want to do the best Dublin pub crawl tour (maybe even MULTIPLE Dublin Pub Crawls!) during your stay.
For those who are not much into drinking, I still recommend the experience of a Dublin pub crawl, just skip the booze! Pubs are a staple in Ireland and are really a part of the local Irish culture. Dublin pub crawl tours are a great way to explore the city, meet new people (hopefully hear some wild stories from the locals!), and most importantly to have fun while experiencing a unique Dublin activity.
🍻 JUMP STRAIGHT TO THE BEST DUBLIN PUB CRAWL TOURS 🍻
What Is a Dublin Pub Crawl?
A Dublin pub crawl essentially entails visiting between 3-5 pubs (or more if you’re really ambitious and have the time!). Some Dublin pub crawl tours might have a theme to them, such as literary or music, and could include more information and/or theatrics. Otherwise, the most simple Dublin pub crawl would be to find a few pubs that interest you and map a route to hop between them.
What Is the Legal Drinking Age in Ireland?
The legal drinking age in Ireland is 18. Some places will check for an ID, but it is much more relaxed than some countries (such as America).
HOW to Do a Dublin Pub Crawl Tour and Where to Look For One
There are a few ways to do a pub crawl in Dublin. The first is to book a GUIDED pub crawl tour. If you are looking for someone to lead you between traditional Irish pubs and give you a bit more of the history or stories of each place, this will be the best option for you!
Another option for Dublin pub crawls is to keep an eye on Facebook events or Meetup-type platforms. Often groups or local organizations will put together a more casual pub crawl. These are often larger groups that draw more locals looking to spend a night out meeting friends and moving from one place to another together. They are more common during holidays or special occasions such as Halloween or St. Patrick’s Day.
Last, you can always put together your own list of pubs in Dublin that interest you and have a go at creating your own DIY, self-guided Dublin pub crawl!
Below I will share my list of best paid, guided Dublin pub crawl tours, along with my favorite pubs and nightclubs that I enjoyed visiting while living in Dublin.

It’s also the best bang for your buck with all the free bonus drinks and free entry tickets. Drinking in Dublin can get expensive quickly, so book ahead to save money with this pub crawl.
My friends and I always loved to finish a Generation Pub Crawl Tour by choosing one of Dublin’s nightclubs (see below for my recommendations) to dance the rest of the night away!
#6 Guinness Storehouse and Jameson Whiskey Distillery Tour
COST: Starts at $108
LENGTH: 4 hours
➡️ CLICK HERE TO BOOK YOUR GUINNESS STOREHOUSE AND JAMESON DISTILLERY TOUR
The Guinness Storehouse tour is a self-guided tour of Dublin’s most popular attraction. I must have gone on the tour 5 or more times during my few months of living in Dublin because I wanted to take every guest that visited me. I never got bored of going and learned something new each time!
The tour walks you through the brewing process and history of Guinness, which takes you through some important Irish history as well. The tour ends at the sky-high “Gravity Bar” where you can take in 360-degree views of Dublin. There’s really nothing else quite like this bar in the whole city! Plus, you get to enjoy a free pint of Guinness while you take in the incredible view.
The Jameson Irish Whiskey Distillery Tour is also one of Dublin’s popular tours. It varies enough from the Guinness tour for both to be incredibly interesting and unique tours, even if you don’t like the taste of either beer or whiskey! The Jameson tour gives you a comparative whiskey tasting as well as a complimentary Jameson whiskey drink.
These are hands down my favorite tours/museums as an alternative to a Dublin pub crawl tour, and I highly recommend securing your tickets in advance so you don’t miss these popular attractions. The link below will give you admission to both tours PLUS timed skip-the-line passes – an incredible offer since the lines can last hours for those that wait!
#7 – BONUS: Howth Craft Beer and Seafood Trail
COST: Starts at $100
LENGTH: Approx. 3 hours
➡️ CLICK HERE TO BOOK YOUR HOWTH CRAFT BEER AND SEAFOOD TRAIL
Howth is an adorable town just outside of Dublin that will give you a small taste of the Irish countryside and the slower outer city lifestyle. Howth sits on the Irish Sea and is lined with adorable shops and markets to walk through or cute Irish houses to view, it’s one of the best quick day trips from Dublin.
This tour takes you through some of the best, local Howth pubs and restaurants where you will sample at least 5 local craft beers as well as an abundance of locally caught seafood.
This tour is best if you want to hear the history of Howth and be a part of a guided tour to make the most of your time, otherwise, it is easy enough to wander around the town and nature trails yourself.
Howth is easily accessible from Dublin by a short ride on the DART (about €6 each way and 25-30 minutes) from the Dublin Connolly station or on Dublin Bus 31 (about €5-6 round trip and 35 minutes).
Guided tours are a fantastic way to dive deeper into the history, culture, and traditions of Irish pubs. If you are looking for some additional recommendations of pubs to try, or want to attempt to create your own Dublin pub crawl, here are some of my top recommendations.
Favorite Pubs for the Best Self-Guided Dublin Pub Crawl
I found so many pubs in Dublin (it’s truly a city of pubs) that I can hardly remember them or keep them straight! There is a pub that matches the need of just about every type of person, including casual and non-drinkers too. You will find pubs in Dublin that have traditional Irish music and dance, pubs where you can play board games, dance pubs, gay-friendly pubs, the list goes on and on!
What Is the Most Famous Pub in Dublin?
The Temple Bar is the most famous pub in Dublin. If you have ever seen an image of a Dublin pub, you likely saw a photo like the one below of the Temple Bar.
1. The Temple Bar (Pub and Area)
This is arguably the most popular, and most touristy pub in Dublin. The Temple Bar is both a stand-alone pub, and the surrounding area located near the city center that has a high concentration of pubs, shops, and restaurants (which confused me for a while when I first moved to Dublin).
The Temple Bar is also popular because it offers Dublin’s largest collection of rare whiskeys– over 450 different varieties! Plus it’s always full of people having a good time on any day of the week.
I do think you still have to hit this tourist spot just to experience it, and you likely will find yourself in the area anyway while you’re exploring the city center.
A few of my other favorite Dublin pubs in the area that I recommend hopping to are Bad Bob’s and Fitzsimons .
A Few Other Popular Dublin Pubs to Crawl:
2. whelan’s pub.
This is a great dance pub with several stages throughout that play different music and often have dancing.
3. Doyle’s Pub
This pub is still in the city center but is lesser-known. It’s a nice place for food and a drink during the day and turns into more of a dance pub at night.
4. The Camden Pub
A sports pub, it has large screens and is a lot of fun for Irish game days. It is located on Camden Street which is another area of Dublin with a good amount of fun, unique bars. If you are looking to hop between pubs just keep walking down Camden Street.
5. O’Reillys Pub
Known for their unique, “candlelit gothic bar” this Dublin pub is great for the character– and their cheap beers.
6. Sheehan’s Pub
Located on Grafton Street, it is surrounded by stores. Sheehan’s is perfect if you want to stop for a pint while getting some shopping done. It is also known for having great food.
7. Brazen Head
This is another touristy place because it is the oldest pub in Ireland. It has a very traditional Irish feel to it and is good for food and beer. It has a nice outdoor area so this is a good one to visit on a sunny day. Plus it’s fun to say you’ve been to the oldest pub in Ireland!
8. Cassidy’s Pub
This pub has board games such as Jenga or Guess Who, to add an extra layer of entertainment for you and your friends beyond the pints!
Best Dublin Pub Crawl Routes
As far as choosing a Dublin pub crawl route goes, I recommend starting by picking a list of 3-5 pubs that are within a roughly 5-10 minute walk of each other. From there, you can map out where you want to start and end in relation to your accommodation or the next place you are trying to get to.
In most cases, I would say the best place to start is at the Temple Bar and work your way out of the city center from there. The easiest way is to walk along Camden Street, there are many great pubs along this route. Starting at the Temple Bar gives you a taste of the large and crowded touristy-type pubs, and then you can branch off into some of the smaller, more niche pubs.
Best Drinks to Try During Your Dublin Pub Crawl Tour
1. Guinness
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Dublin pub crawl if you didn’t try a pint of Guinness! This delicious stout is a staple of Irish drinking culture, and for good reason. Every Dubliner and tourist alike can confirm that Guinness tastes its best in Dublin. There is a freshness and quality of pour that just can’t be beaten in other countries.
2. Smithwick’s Beer
If you prefer a slightly lighter beer, Smithwick’s is a popular Irish red ale.
3. Bailey’s
Another popular Irish drink, Bailey’s Irish cream is a sweet and creamy liqueur that is perfect as a dessert.
4. Baby Guinness Shot
No, it is not a small Guinness – it just happens to look like one. A baby Guinness is typically a shot of Irish cream, coffee liqueur, and black Sambuca (licorice taste). It is sweet and way too easy to drink!
5. Irish Coffee
Coffee with whiskey in it, and maybe a dollop of whipped cream on top. You could also ask for it with some Bailey’s in it for a bit of extra creamy flavor! This is the perfect drink to warm you up on a rainy Irish afternoon.
6. Irish Whiskey
Another classic Irish drink to try during your Dublin pub crawl. Irish whiskeys worth trying include Jameson, Bushmills, Connemara, or Teelings.
7. Rock Shandy (Non-Alcoholic)
A refreshing Irish drink that is a mix of sparkling orange and lemon.
How Much is a Pint of Beer in Dublin, Ireland?
A pint of beer in Dublin averages about €5. In the more touristy areas (yes, like Temple Bar) a pint could even go up to €7 or €8 depending on what you order. Though typically a pint of Guinness hovers around €6 or below at most places you go across Ireland.
🍻 TIP: When you “cheers” in Ireland, you say “ sláinte “. Pronounced a bit like “slawn-cha” and means “health”.
Best Night/Dance Clubs in Dublin
Dublin has a good handful of nightclubs if you are looking to take your Dublin drinking experience to the next level and go beyond a typical Dublin pub crawl tour. Dublin’s dance clubs are always full of young Irish students and young adults looking to have a fun night!
Most of Dublin’s popular nightclubs are found on Harcourt Street. So when in doubt, just walk down Harcourt and look for the best line to hop into. Plus, try looking out for Dublin club deals online for reduced entry fees and to learn about what events might be happening while you are in town.
A note: I do actually highly recommend sticking to mostly trying out different Dublin pubs. Especially if you are short on time in Dublin and only have a few nights. Nightclubs will be nightclubs pretty much anywhere in the world. While they’re still very fun in Dublin, each pub has a bit of its own character and will give you a much more fulfilling Irish cultural experience!
1. Dicey’s Garden Club
This popular nightclub is always busy and draws a fun international crowd. The drinks are some of the cheapest in the city (€2 pints and wine some nights) and there’s a live DJ every night playing a mix of Latin and European hits. One of Dicey’s better-known features is the huge beer garden right outside of its 2 dance floors.
2. Copper Face Jacks (Coppers)
Coppers is another great, standard dance club to get a sense of Dublin’s nightlife. It has multiple dance floors, is open late, and draws young crowds. It is one of the most popular nightclubs in Dublin and always has some sort of deal or event happening.
The ONLY Checklist You NEED for a Trip Abroad
Even after traveling the world… I STILL use this list before every trip!
Unsubscribe at any time.
3. The George
This club will certainly not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it was one of my absolute favorites! It is an LGBTQ nightclub with fun, pop vibes and a friendly atmosphere. Beyond the great dancing that is always happening, The George will often have karaoke or drag nights that are hugely entertaining and draw some of Dublin’s most talented performers.
4. The Grand Social
A unique circus-themed venue known for its friendly atmosphere and live music. It typically features more gigs and performers and is a bit smaller and more intimate of a crowd than some of the other Dublin nightclubs.
This is a unique venue with a little bit of something for everyone. You can hang out on the dance floor or outside under the heaters in the outdoor beer garden. It has a great atmosphere with occasional live music and multiple rooms to find your right vibe for the night.

We all know that beer and whiskey are Irish favorites, but did you know that the country also offers some of the best locally-caught seafood in the world? That’s right – today we’re going to venture through all kinds of picturesque places and fascinating stories.
The Dublin: Coastal Craft Beer & Seafood Trail Tour is one of the more unique pub tours, incorporating culinary delights just as much as the local craft beers.
Meet up at the Howth Train Station, where you’ll greet your guide with the rest of your small group and head off! Howth is very close to Dublin but is still its own little town perfect for leisurely enjoying, escaping from the bustle of the capital.
As you explore this charming fishing village, you’ll learn about its bloody past, its 700-year-old castle, king’s landing, and much more!
At this point, you’ve been doing a bit of observing, watching the fishing boats pull in with the catch of the day, and even listening to some fisherman tales!
Now, it’s time to try a fresh selection of seafood, including Dublin Bay Prawns, gambas, mussels, oysters, crab claws, calamari, and Howth’s famous seafood chowder. The food is so flavorful, and the hospitality of the staff combined with the incredible scenery made it simply amazing.
Of course, we can’t forget learning about and sampling the local craft beers! Our guide was fantastic, offering all kinds of fun facts and explanations on the style and traditions behind each one.
What really made it that much more special, was our guide offering us a video of the entire tour afterward!
3. Personalized & Private Dublin Historical Pub Tour with a Local
- Duration: 3 to 4 hours
- Departure: Suffolk St, Dublin 2, D02 KX03
- Departure Time: Between 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM
- Includes: Private and personalized experience 3-4 hours with a host, 2 drinks specially selected for you by your host, hotel meet-up (available on request for central location), walking tour between pubs once at Temple Bar and Rathmines, Uber from Temple Bar to Rathmines
One of the main reasons I find some people avoid tours, is because they aren’t sure they are going to like it. What if you could go on a tour completely personalized to what you and your party are interested in?
Well, with the Dublin Historical Pub Tour with a Local: 100% Personalized & Private Experience you can see Dublin’s pubs the way you want!
Meet up with your local guide at a central spot convenient for you, where they’ll begin to ask you any clarifying questions to further customize your tour.
For example, if you’d like to dive deeper into specific historical topics, or visit somewhere not typically on standard tours they can accommodate that. As it is a private tour, you’ll have a more intimate experience and really get a chance to connect with your guide.
Typically, you’ll start by exploring the streets of Temple Bar to find a pint that suits your tastes! After that, I recommend stopping at Dublin’s oldest pub, which is The Brazen Head that’s been serving up beer for over 160 years!
At this point you’ve had a couple pints, and may be looking for something livelier like a pub playing traditional live Irish music!
O’Donoghues of Suffolk Street is the perfect spot, where you can sip a drink while you enjoy the entire performance! No more walking is needed by now, so take an Uber over to Rathmines, which is a very popular neighborhood.
Here, you’ll find an array of popular locales with some of the best live music in the city! I felt like this tour was one of the best for experiencing the more “authentic” part of Dublin’s pub scene.
Oh, and don’t miss Slattery’s, which has been recommended by Chef Anthony Bourdain, Colin Fassnidge, and many other experts!
4. Dublin Pub Crawl
- Duration: 4 hours
- Departure: 14 Fishamble St, Temple Bar, Dublin
- Departure Time: Between 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM
- Includes: Private tour of traditional pubs, professional tour guide
We definitely recommend going out and getting a beer or whiskey every night when in Dublin, if not for the drink itself, for the atmosphere. The Dublin Pub Crawl Tour transports you back in time, to a bygone era involving historic pubs, interesting stories, and much more.
While each tour does vary a little bit, you’ll generally get to visit 5 of the most important pubs in all of Dublin!
Just like all of the other tours, this one starts off in the evening by meeting your guide at Temple Bar. Your guide will ask you and your group questions about your interests to customize the experience to your party’s liking.
We may have arrived as strangers, but we quickly felt that our guide was a longtime friend who knew the city front and back!
For me, the highlight of the tour was the chance to visit one of Dublin’s most notorious pubs: The Stag’s Head.
Dating back to 1770, this storied pub retains its original Victorian-era charm, with an incredibly well-preserved interior, ornamental ceilings, and stained glass windows.
It really does make you feel like you’ve gone hundreds of years back in time, complete with a wooden stag’s head mounted right above the bar.
If you’re up for it you may stay there or go to another pub where you can enjoy some live traditional Irish music, though it’s not unheard of for impromptu music sessions to start up out of nowhere!
Discover Guinness (if you haven’t already) and learn about its background, as well as the stories behind each pub that you visit. Temple Bar is full of performers, and entertainment is never in short supply in the vibrant neighborhood of Temple Bar.
5. Traditional Dublin Pub Tour
- Duration: 3 hours and 45 minutes

If you’re on a budget and would like to really get the biggest bang for your buck, the Traditional Dublin Pub Tour is a fantastic option. Whether you’re going with that special someone, a friend group, or the entire family, everyone is sure to find something they like here.
Your tour will start at 6:00 pm, which is just when things start livening up a bit. Meet your guide at The Spire on O’Connell Street, which is a towering, stainless steel monument standing almost 400 feet high (not hard to miss).
Once everyone is together, you’ll make a quick jaunt over to your first stop of the evening known for its amazing craft beer: Capel Street.
Here, you’ll learn about the 3 distinct styles of beer from local microbreweries, the different types of glasses, and the beer-making processes and their differences.
Next up, stroll on over to Strand Street, where you’ll check out a majestic Victorian establishment and try a pint of the classic Guinness.
It’s only appropriate to learn about the beer and brand, learning why it’s so much creamier and tastes unique from literally everything else.Mary Street is your next stop, entering the infamous Slatterys known for serving up the tastiest traditional Irish food of just about any pub.
Try a sample of a premium Single Malt Irish Whiskey as you learn about the massive whiskey distilling industry. Follow it up with a nice craft Irish gin and tonic before enjoying some traditional Irish music in the form of an enchanting live performance!
6. The Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Pub Tour
- Duration: 9 hours
- Departure: Cork Hill, Dublin
- Departure Time: 2:00 PM
- Includes: Air-conditioned vehicle, 6 Rural Traditional Pub visits, fully-guided tour, convenient Dublin City center Pick up & drop off location
I’m excited to share this next tour with you, because it’s something completely different from any other currently offered in Dublin! This 9-hour excursion is perfect if you’re looking for some peace and quiet as you’ll spend your day in the Irish countryside!
The Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Pub Tour is an intimate experience with a small group setting, enjoying rural pubs for delicious food, amazing drinks, and spectacular views.
At 2:00 pm, you’ll meet our guide and the rest of your group to board the air-conditioned coach you’ll be using for the day. There’s no time to waste, so you’ll start off towards the beautifully green Dublin Mountains, visiting 2 rural pubs along the way.
The Blue Light Pub is literally one of my favorite places on Earth, with friendly staff and locals, incredible views of the bay, live music, and perfectly-poured pints of Guinness.
Next up is Johnnie Fox’s Pub, which is the highest pub in the country, and also one of the oldest. The building’s exterior is so sweet and charming, though the interior features all kinds of diverse decor that’s sure to keep you entertained.
Then you will head to the Wisklow Mountains National Park, which is appropriately known as “The Garden of Ireland” with its neverending greenery and wildlife!
Arrive at the Glenmalure Lodge, nestled right into the heart of the longest glacial valley in the country with a cozy atmosphere, hard-working staff, amazing drinks (try the Irish coffee!), food, and gorgeous views.
At about the halfway point, you’ll even visit an old hunting lodge for a hearty meal to take a break from the pints of Guinness and glasses of whiskey.
Head down the hill to a little village where you can try the local offerings at a little country pub, followed by the incredible Harbour Bar which was actually voted the World’s Best Pub by Lonely Planet a few years back!
7. Pubs, Pints and History: Beer & Whiskey in Dublin’s Historic Pubs
- Duration: 3 hours
- Departure: Suffolk St, Dublin 2, D02 KX03
- Departure Time: 2:00 PM
- Includes: Local English-speaking guide, Expertly guided tour through 4 local pubs, Three 1/2 pints of beer and two whiskey tastings, Food tastings at 2 locations, enough for a light snack or meal
Calling all of my history buffs out there! We have the perfect tour for you: the Pubs, Pints and History: Beer & Whiskey in Dublin’s Historic Pubs .
Dive into the city’s vibrant history on a captivating journey through famous pubs and other locations to give you a better idea of how Dublin came to be what it is today.
After meeting up with your guide at a central location, you and your small group will embark on a trip to The Old Stand which covers a whopping 350 years of history!
In my opinion, it was the perfect way to kick things off, covering the political, social, and literary significance of the capital. This sit-down experience lets you relax and try a half-pint of locally-brewed lager, expertly paired with local cheeses and cured meats.
Continue on through the pedestrian-friendly streets of Temple Bar and arrive at one of the most popular family-owned pubs.
We were actually lucky enough to meet the pub owners before trying their signature whiskeys made right in the cellar underground!
This was quite a different experience from the first location, and it gave us more of an appreciation for the delicious spirit and the differences between the different types.
The Ha’penny Bridge Inn only deepened my affection for Dublin and whiskey, as known as a sanctuary for whiskey aficionados everywhere. We enjoyed different whiskeys in a private tasting room, where we learned in-depth knowledge about each type.
Finally, we arrived at The Lotts Cafe Bar, which melds local history with a passion for Guinness nicely. The atmosphere was just as warm and lively as the other places, making me realize I could never live in Dublin as I’d basically live at the pubs.
