EVERCLEAR Announce 2023 Australian Tour

Share This:
American alt-rock juggernauts Everclear have announced an extensive 17-date Australian tour, and it’s going to mean Everything to Everyone . Fresh from a year of gigging their 30th anniversary tour around the U.S, it’s Australia’s turn to live the glory days.
The multi-platinum band that helped shape the ’90’s punk rock scene will kick off their Australian tour with a four-date Queensland leg playing Ipswich, Gold Coast, Brisbane, and Townsville. They then head down the East coast through NSW and Victoria, through South Australia and finish up in West Australia.
“After spending the better part of 2022 celebrating our 30th anniversary as a band, releasing our remastered debut album ‘World of Noise’ on digital platforms for the first time ever, and recently releasing our new single ‘Year of the Tiger’, we are so excited to be coming back to our home away from home with the largest and most inclusive Australian tour we have ever done,” said frontman Art Alexakis .
“By mixing it up and digging into the catalogue, it still makes it fun and relevant for us, and I think for the fans as well,” said Alexakis. “It’s still important to play the hits, but by playing those other songs as well, it makes it all seem more vibrant and real.
Their current touring line-up features long-time members Davey French on guitar and Freddy Herrera on bass, as well as drummer Brian Nolan, who has performed with Everclear on multiple past tours.
Now Australia should prepare to be rocked and rolled, with a member’s pre-sale on November 29 and general tickets on sale November 30.

“Even though I recorded some of those songs over 20 years ago, I haven’t played them in a long time, so it’s like reinventing the wheel. I’m having more fun now than I have in years. I think all of us are.”
Fans will be treated to some of the band’s top 40 singles such as Santa Monica, Father of Mine, I Will Buy You A New Life, Wonderful and Everything To Everyone as well as their new material.
Their new single Year of the Tiger followed their 2015 album Black is the New Black and sees them screaming back onto the scene with a politically-charged, riff-heavy rallying call.
“After all of the events of the last almost three years with Covid, worldwide shutdowns, the political debacle of 2020 emanating from in and outside of MAGA world, I felt I needed to write a song that not just explained my anger and frustration, but a song that served as a mission statement,” said Alexakis about the single.
“I feel like the tiger should be the new symbol of the new Democratic party. We will not back down, we will not forget, we hit back, we challenge lies, and we refuse to be intimidated by ignorance or loud voices.”
Formed by Alexakis in 1991 in Portland, Oregon, Everclear has since had 11 studio releases, numerous videos, thousands of shows and accolades that include a 1998 Grammy nomination.
Their current touring lineup features longtime members Davey French on guitar and Freddy Herrera on bass, as well as drummer Brian Nolan, who has performed with Everclear on multiple past tours.

Everclear is an alternative rock band originally from Portland, Oregon and was formed by Art Alexakis who is the only remaining original member.
The group originally consisted of the trio Alexakis as lead vocalist and guitarist, Craig Montoya on bass and Greg Eklund on drums. They found success with their first three full length albums, 'Sparle and Fade', 'So Much for the Afterglow' and 'Songs from an American Movie Vol. One: Learning How To Smile' which were all released on Capitol Records.
All three of these releases were certified platinum selling in the States, yet the band couldn't maintain the success for their next two releases and in 2003 both Montoya and Eklund decided to leave the project. Although Alexakis decided to persist with Everclear and released a further two albums with other musicians. Everclear have struggled with promotion campaigns and record label support throughout their career, one of the main reasons American Movie Vol. Two wasn't considered a successful album was due to the fact it was released just four months after the first and the public became confused as to why the band were releasing original material whilst singles were still being promoted from the predecessor.
Similar disputes occurred during the promotion of Slow Motion Daydream due to Alexakis demanding an early solo track that had been toured the previous year be chosen as the lead whilst record bosses were far more keen on 'The New York Times'. The end result meant that neither received consistent backing and the album stalled after passing 100,000 copies and the demise seemed unavoidable after both Greg and Craig decided they were leaving. However Alexakis managed to salvage the reputation of the band and worked on the successes they achieved in the 1990s.
Live reviews
Everclear is perhaps one of the better renowned bands in the alternative rock movement in the 1990’s, and their live performances still stand strong to this day.
Lead singer, Art Alexakis, has a strong passion for performing music, and you can see his intense dedication of giving his greatest effort in his performances. Some of the best music that has been written is often inspired by intense pain and turmoil, and Art Alexakis has sure experienced his fair share of tragedy. When he was young he experienced the deaths of several people who were very close to him, including his brother who overdosed on drugs. These circumstances would later impact the lyrical style and intense emotional mood of most of Everclear’s songs.
Everclear presents an energetic performance when they are in concert. Art Alexakis plays heavy, distorted chord progressions in an often fast tempo and sings enthusiastically into the microphone. Although Everclear’s songs often tackle intense subject matters such as drug addiction, they are often presented in a pop-punk format consisting of catchy hooks. The crowd is always enthusiastic to see Everclear. They jump up and down to the hard rock performance of “So Much for the Afterglow” and they sing every word to the heart-touching song “Wonderfull”.
Everclear tours every year with the Summerland tour, which is a tour founded by Art Alexakis. During this tour you can expect to catch the performances of many well regarded 90’s alternative rock bands that open up for Everclear including, Sugar Ray, Gin Blossoms, and Lit.

Being a fan of Everclear for the past 20 years & seeing them for this anniversary show was one for the records. Smoochknob opening was a great way to start the festivities, fun & full of energy. Hydra Melody-what a talented bunch of young men. I don't know if they were the best choice to be before Everclear as there music was full of funk & crowd seemed to want more punk. They were so clean & tight, the music melodious. As for Everclear...I have never been disappointed when seeing Art & his various backing musicians. This group of guys were loving what they were doing & every audience member was in a trance. They made me feel young & crazy again. Then there is the venue, The Wonder Ballroom, I have been to many shows here & would have called it my favorite place for music & entertainment, but after last night I'll never be back. The man that they had put in charge of managing the line in front of the merch booth is a liability. He not only verbally abused me after I had apologized for trying to take a picture of my friend getting items that she had bought from the band, he then put his face inches from mine, threatened me & told me things that I will not repeat. I am a 5 foot tall, petite woman, so when a large man does this, you feel like you are in danger. Every other employee that worked there was kind & friendly, but I cannot support a business that allows staff to use verbal abuse & threat of physical harm to people.
Whilst a lot of American rock bands were riding the wave of the grunge revival of the early 90's, Everclear were creating a far more conventional sound which has stood the test of time. Over twenty years since Art Alexakis formed the group they are still sounding as fresh and well tuned as ever and the current lineup has a fantastic onstage rapport. This emphasis on good times and enjoying the music resonates through the room and the audience feels instantly connected to the vibe of the music and the band themselves.
One thing that I credit Everclear for is not being too pretentious to play music from their most popular releases, some bands of their age become adamant that fans will want to here whatever they choose even if they dismiss their past. Everclear instead does showcase new material intermingled with classics from 'So Much For The Afterglow'. There are cheers for 'Santa Monica' and 'Everything to Everyone' and the band clearly still enjoy playing these modern rock classics. They also leave the stage in the knowledge they have satisfied all of the crowd with a varied and interesting setlist with just the right level of nostalgia.
Art Alexakis, as the only original member of Everclear, received a monumental cheer from the crowd as he stepped on to stage with his guitar and proceeded to lead the band with his incredible rock god vocals and awe inspiring confidence. The rest of the band also garnered a lot of support as they took their places on stage, instruments at the ready, in order to deliver one of the best rock concerts I have ever been to. The band made a big impression in the 90s with their alternative sound and they clearly still had a lot of dedicated and devoted fans who had turned out in full force to support the band. The atmosphere was electric and the crowd was buzzing, excited to see the rock veterans perform. After several decades of being in the musical career and even at their ages, Everclear did not disappoint. There were fast tempos, guitar solos, heavy drops, intense lyrics and catchy hooks enough to keep the whole crowd enthused and the band played all their biggest hits.
I didn't like Everclear live...the lead singer just yells, and does not sing musically.
I LOVED the performance by Vertical Horizon! They are great musicians with solid vocals and harmonies. Even the new song off of their upcoming album was great. Can't wait for it!
Very good show but this was the shortest concert I have ever attended. From start to finish just over a hour long. Played all their best songs but not much else just way to short. The Parker Playhouse is my favorite concert venue in South Florida.
Great show! Great Time! You could tell that Art and the rest of the band were really having a good time playing together! I Would go again in a heartbeat!
It was very amasing and so exating to worship GOD in a diferent way thanks so much to doing this cain of events
I will waitting for knew shows in this area

Art Alexakis & Brendan Brown Are Touring The Everclear & Wheatus Team-Up We Never Knew We Needed
“We became very good friends and big admirers of each other’s work, so it’s a dream come true to be able to tour together again.”
Everclear / Wheatus (Supplied)
Art Alexakis and Brendan B. Brown have announced a joint Australian tour for February 2024, delivering the Everclear and Wheatus team-up fans could only ever dream of.
The respective frontmen – Alexakis of Everclear and Brown of Wheatus – will each perform acoustically, with collaborations all but guaranteed. They’ll both perform cuts from their main bands’ iconic discographies, albeit stripped back and in much more intimate venues than they’re typically known to play.
They’ve also promised concertgoers a uniquely interactive experience, with a press release explaining that each set will also see the artists “telling in-depth stories behind each of their songs” and inviting punters to ask them “any questions of their choosing throughout the evening”.
The tour will span a mighty 15 dates along the east coast, South Australia and Western Australia, starting with four back-to-back Queensland shows between Thursday February 1 and Sunday 4. From there they’ll play a sole show in Kaurna/Adelaide – taking to the Lion Arts Factory on Thursday February 8 – before hitting WA with a trio of shows over that weekend. Three shows in Victoria will follow, with the tour then wrapping up over four shows in New South Wales.
The full list of dates and venues can be found below. As for tickets, all shows will go on sale at 9am AEDT this Wednesday (November 22), with VIP and meet-and-greet packages also available – head here for more info on those.
In a statement, Alexakis said of his excitement for the trek: “Ever since the early days of Everclear I’ve enjoyed going out and performing solo. It’s a way for me to peel back the layers and get to the core of what I’m trying to communicate through my songwriting.”

He went on to say that Australia “has always been like a second home to me”, sharing his keenness to return in a solo capacity after he toured here with Everclear back in February. He added: “I’m going to be performing the Everclear hits, fan favorites, deep tracks, maybe a song or two from my solo record, and possibly even a cover.
“I’m stoked to be bringing Brendan from Wheatus with me. They toured with us in the States on our Summerland tour in 2021 and we became very good friends and big admirers of each other’s work, so it’s a dream come true to be able to tour together again.”

EVERCLEAR – 30th Anniversary 2023 Tour
About this tour.
Considering Everclear has written and recorded some truly iconic ’90s alt-rock hits, it would be all too easy these days for the band to be a victim of its past successes, relegated to performing as a glorified jukebox, existing to satisfy the nostalgic cravings of Gen Xers everywhere. But singer-guitarist Art Alexakis isn’t about to start phoning it in now.
Everclear continues to tour extensively, and while it’s a virtual surety that no Everclear gig is complete without a rendition of “Santa Monica” and “Father of Mine,” lately the band has found that exploring the full range of past material—especially the “deep cuts”—not only gives fans a rare treat, it also injects new life into the band’s live dynamic.
“By mixing it up and digging into the catalogue, it still makes it fun and relevant for us, and I think for the fans as well,” says Alexakis. “It’s still important to play the hits, but by playing those other songs as well, it makes it all seem more vibrant and real. Even though I recorded some of those songs 20 years ago, I haven’t played them in a long time, so it’s like reinventing the wheel. I’m having more fun now than I have in years. I think all of us are.”
Formed by Alexakis in 1991 in Portland, Oregon, Everclear has enjoyed a lengthy career spanning 11 studio releases, numerous videos, thousands of shows and accolades that include a 1998 Grammy nomination. Like a true survivor, Alexakis has soldiered on through multiple lineup changes over the years: During the “classic” era, the band also included Craig Montoya on Bass and Greg Eklund on drums; the current touring lineup features longtime members Davey French (guitar) and Freddy Herrera (bass), as well as drummer Brian Nolan (also with American Hi-Fi), who has performed with Everclear on multiple past tours.

“After spending the better part of 2022 celebrating our 30th anniversary as a band, releasing our remastered debut album ‘World of Noise’ on digital platforms for the first time ever, and recently releasing our new single ‘Year of the Tiger’, we are so excited to be coming back to our home away from home with the largest and most inclusive Australian tour we have ever done,” said frontman Art Alexakis.
“By mixing it up and digging into the catalogue, it still makes it fun and relevant for us, and I think for the fans as well,” said Alexakis. “It’s still important to play the hits, but by playing those other songs as well, it makes it all seem more vibrant and real.
“Even though I recorded some of those songs over 20 years ago, I haven’t played them in a long time, so it’s like reinventing the wheel. I’m having more fun now than I have in years. I think all of us are.”
Fans will be treated to some of the band’s top 40 singles such as ‘Santa Monica’, ‘Father of Mine’, ‘I Will Buy You A New Life’, ‘Wonderful’ and ‘Everything To Everyone’ as well as their new material.
Their new single ‘Year of the Tiger’ followed their 2015 album Black is the New Black and sees them screaming back onto the scene with a politically-charged, riff-heavy rallying call.

The Hotter Than Hell series of shows will once again bring alternative rock heroes of the 90s and 2000s to regional Australia in 2020, and they're going even bigger than ever this time around.
Leading the charge for the four shows announced today are two beloved American rock bands whose sound helped define rock in the 90s and 2000s.
Everclear 's first two albums were practically flawless examples of mid-90s alt-rock.
Songs like 'Santa Monica', 'Father Of Mine', 'Heroin Girl', 'Everything To Everyone' and 'Heartspark Dollarsign' still launch outta the speakers when you hit play on the boombox, and going nuts with your friends while seeing Art Alexakis and his band smash them out this summer will be pretty special.
Southern California is a hotbed for skate punk. In the late-90s and early-2000s, one of the bands who did it best were the mighty Unwritten Law .
Their most well-known work, tracks like 'Lonesome', 'Cailin' and 'Up All Night', was huge in the schoolyards and skate parks in Australia and will definitely take you back to a certain time and place.
Much like Alexakis with Everclear, it's just Scott Russo who remains in the band from those glory days. But the songs still hold up and will be a whole lot of fun to see live.
There is an incredible cast of Australian acts getting in on the action for this tour as well.
Don't listen to what they say, Frenzal Rhomb are one of Australia's biggest and best ever punk rock bands. Their shows are always wild as hell and we're sure they're very excited to be reacquainted with their regional fans.
The Grates haven't spent a whole lot of time in regional Australia, but their music has been a big hit in lounge rooms and pubs across the country for 15 years now. They will bring a sharp jolt of energy to proceedings when they play three of the four shows on this tour.
Special guests abound at each show: Cosmic Psychos in Mt Evelyn, Area 7 in Gepps Cross and Townsville, The Superjesus and Motor Ace in Dunsborough. It's a seriously packed line-up of some of the best music of your past, played by bands who are still ruling today.
This article contains content that is no longer available.
Now, not every band is playing every stop. So you'll have to find the show you want to go to below and figure out who will be on that line-up.
Here's all the info. Pay close attention. Tickets are on sale from 8am AEST Thursday 17 October.

Art Alexakis of Everclear Australian solo tour
Following a successful Australian tour earlier this year with his Grammy-nominated & multi-platinum Alt-rock band Everclear , Art Alexakis will return to our shores in February 2024 to perform hits & fan favourites from his extensive catalogue. Fans will have the chance to hear classics such as Santa Monica, Father Of Mine, I Will Buy You A New Life, Everything To Everyone, and plenty more performed stripped back in an intimate acoustic setting.
The national run of dates will also see Brendan B. Brown of U.S. pop/rock outfit Wheatus join as support. Expect to hear the likes of the classic anthemic chart topper Teenage Dirtbag , along with a selection of songs from Wheatus’ five albums.
Both artists’ solo sets will also see them telling in-depth stories behind each of their songs and interacting with the audience, giving fans the unique opportunity to ask each of the artists any questions of their choosing throughout the evening. This is a one-of-a-kind, unique, and interactive show that you will not want to miss.
Of the upcoming tour, Art Alexakis says; “Ever since the early days of Everclear I’ve enjoyed going out and performing solo. It’s a way for me to peel back the layers and get to the core of what I’m trying to communicate through my songwriting. Australia has always been like a second home to me and I’m excited to be coming back solo after our amazing tour this past February. I’m going to be performing the Everclear hits, fan favorites, deep tracks, maybe a song or two from my solo record, and possibly even a cover. I’m stoked to be bringing Brendan from Wheatus with me. They toured with us in the States on our Summerland Tour in 2021 and we became very good friends and big admirers of each other’s work, so it’s a dream come true to be able to tour together again.”
Don’t miss Art Alexakis (Everclear) and Brendan B. Brown (Wheatus) on their National Australian tour in February 2024. Tickets for the Australian National tour go on sale this Wednesday November 22 at 9AM aedt, with VIP meet & greet packages also available.
