The Great Ocean Road Melbourne - Adelaide 4 day 3 night Tour

The tour was brilliant. Mick, our driver and guide, was very knowledgeable. He adapted the itinerary by adding in extra little stop-offs where we had time. He was great in keeping us informed about rest stops, food and other fundamental requirements. The actual tur was great - great scenery, wildlife and views of a small area of vast country.

Classic Larapinta Trek in Comfort

We had an amazing time! Our tour guides, Luke, Claire and Drew were kind, attentive, knowledgeable and genuinely nice people. The walks were wonderful, with some tough days followed by more leisurely days, with afternoon swims in billabongs. Sleeping under the stars was a highlight. I would recommend this trip to anyone who loves hiking and camping.

Tour guide & coach driver very good. Accommodation very good. Not sure how it could be organised on this tour, but needed a bit more down time or time on our own to relax. Out early most days & late afternoon arrival at motels.

3 Day Great Ocean Road and Grampians

This was our first time to Australia and we saw & learned so much in four packed days. Pierre was amazing, a non-stop stream of information on just about anything. I was constantly asking questions and never had one that he didn’t have the answer for. For example, while on the road between stops, I asked about the indigenous peoples of Australia and got a half hour thorough (and sometimes sad) lecture on their history. The hotels and included meals were first rate. Highly recommended.

What people love about luxury tours in australia.

I did this 4-day tour and I really enjoyed it. Jens, the guide, as well as all participants were very nice and warmhearted. I felt like I travelled with new friends. There were only 5 people in our group. I totally recommend this tour that includes amazing spots and sceneries. We were also lucky to see many animals (koalas, kangaroos, emus, fox, etc.).
Fantastic guides, really great camping set up, meals and route. The cultural component was also appreciated.

Luxury Vacations & Tours in Australia

Why should you travel to australia with us.

Back in 2003, the earliest idea of Black Tomato was dreamt up. And it happened on an Australian beach. You could say that it inspired everything we’ve done since.

The beach? Wineglass Bay, of course. These days, you’re more likely to find our founders on Lizard Island – with its 24 private beaches, all within diving distance of the Great Barrier Reef. When we got the company rolling, we decided to never lose sight of Australia. With over 15 years of contacts, local knowledge, and friendships, our bespoke itineraries to this golden, rich and rewarding country can truly deliver anything; from a chef’s-table tour of the picturesque Yarra Valley, blending your own wines under the tutelage of a Chief Winemaker, an exclusive ‘just you’ retreat at Kangaroo Island, or a private-plane transfer low over the bush toward a private camp in the Bamurru Plains. Anything is possible.

As ever, if you can’t see it here then we can still plan it for you.

An irresistible concoction of unparalleled scenery, vibrant city-life, fine wines and active reefs, Australia is a place of dazzling discovery. One trip here and you’ll realize how much this country has to give, which is why our tailor-made tours to the land down under ensure your vacation flows seamlessly. For customizable itineraries including the best luxury hotels and most immersive tours – north, south, east, and west – you’ve come to the right location.

ALL ABOUT AUSTRALIA

Koala on eucalyptus tree in Australia

The Great Barrier Reef – a medley of vivid colors and dynamic wildlife that’s completely unique to Australia. Consisting of over 900 islands, there’s more than one way to experience this world wonder. Observe it from the air, opt for scuba diving, or embark on a guided snorkelling tour; the choice is yours. One more question though: can we still call it a sliver of paradise if it can be seen from space?

SNORKEL THE GREAT BARRIER REEF

Easily one of the most recognizable skylines in the world, Sydney is an oceanside city that puts others to shame. While it’s worth its weight in gold with dazzling galleries, upbeat beaches, and boutique restaurants, it’s the Opera House and the Harbor Bridge that steal the spotlight. For a heart-pounding experience, climb the Harbor Bridge for 360-degree views of the city.

WALK THE HARBOUR BRIDGE

Sydney harbour at sunset

Our best piece of advice? Jump in a car and prepare to witness the vista that tops all vistas. One of the most popular road trips in the word, the Great Ocean Road is home to rock-stacks protruding from the sea, rolling hills, and dramatic crashing waves. If we coined the term ‘open-road tranquility’, a breezy day on a journey to the 12 Apostles would be the accompanying photo.

Sydney & the blue mountains

Explore Australia’s iconic capital and the incredible range to its West.

Sparkling, sophisticated and confident, Sydney – backed by the range of the awe-inspiring Blue Mountains – embodies everything that is glamorous and modern about Australia. With a coastal path that stretches from Bondi to Coogee, the bustling harbor, the iconic Opera House, and trendy Newtown (with the eucalyptus forests, waterfalls and peaks of the National Park behind you), Sydney has much to offer.

The great barrier reef

It’s more than just a reef. It’s 1,900 reefs.

It is easy to throw out a cliche about the reef, that it is “out of this world.” But that wouldn’t be true. Here, from Lady Elliot Island and to the edge of New Guinea (some 2,300km away), the reef is an incredible and intricate labyrinth of cays, ribbons, islets, canyons and – of course – nature. You can sleep on private islands within diving distance of it (such as Kangaroo Island), or else take an expert-led tour of it by day. The nearby islands of the Whitsundays & Cairns offer an exotic stepping stone into this earthly paradise.

Melbourne (and beyond)

Art, culture and cuisine on Australia’s southeastern coast.

A theme emerges. That each great Australian city is paired with an incredible hinterland. For Melbourne, in Australia’s southeast, it’s the Mornington Peninsula and the Yarra Valley wine region). Trendy, easygoing, fun, Melbourne is all about plazas, bars, art and restaurants. In the Yarra Valley, we’ll pair you with expert sommeliers and local chefs to truly taste and sample the land that feeds this city.

Explore uniquely cool Melbourne & sunny Sydney

Vibrant cities, wonderful wines, outback adventure and beautiful beaches

Encompassing gleaming coastal cities and the oldest continuous culture on earth, famous beaches, iconic endemic wildlife with a vast landscape of red desert, alpine mountains, rainforests and coral reefs ripe for exploration.

There’s an innovative food scene, prestigious wine industry, vibrant art and a warm, laid-back people to welcome you. While not lagging far behind the United States in scale, Australia has a population of just 23 million who mostly live around the idyllic coast in modern cities such as Sydney , Melbourne , Brisbane  and Perth , leaving the immense centre as wilderness, affectionately known as the Outback .

There’s also the beautiful and remote Top End  sitting next to the equally remarkable state of Western Australia , unique islands such as Tasmania , Kangaroo Island and the white sanded Whitsundays that sit between the northeast coast of Queensland and the rich waters of the Great Barrier Reef .

Blessed with sunshine, it is a place where as much time as possible is spent outdoors, whether surfing, fishing, boating or barbecuing, and there’s no better way to experience Australia than by joining in.

And then there’s Australia’s wildlife, a long geographic period of isolation giving rise to a unique species – marsupials such as koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, wombats and bandicoots and egg-laying mammals, like the platypus – along with huge saltwater crocodiles, fearsome snakes and some of the best marine wildlife watching opportunities in the world.

Down South to Kangaroo Island, providing you a chance to see Australias endemic wildlife in the wild and Tasmania, for its rugged mountainous beauty, then journeying into Outback where you will find yourself surrounded by the scorched red earth and blanketed by the huge blue sky.

When to visit

With Australia’s immense size and diverse landscapes, different regions are best visited at different times of year, and no matter the month, somewhere will be in its prime. The southern coastal cities are wonderful all year round, if a touch cooler in winter between May and August. This, however, is the ideal time to explore the Red Centre, Queensland, Great Barrier Reef and North West, areas which are very hot and humid in the summer.

The experience was great in that everything was handled down to the last detail. The accommodations were 5 Star, and the experiences were some that we would not have known about on our own.

My husband and I really enjoyed our Australia Whistle-Stop tour! Ellie did a fabulous job organizing it and allowing us to experience Sydney, The Blue Mountains, GBR and the Daintree Rainforest in 8 days. The private tours were top quality as were all of our accommodations especially The Chalets at Blackheath. We had an amazing tour by Tim and a…

Excellent venues, guides, well organized, and great choices on what to see and do, for a place we have never been. They really did a great job on catering to our preferences. Service level was excellent, and we were willing to do some extras for us. It might be the best trip we ever had.

Well planned trip for our Family. With four people traveling from three locations-different departure dates on both ends. Properly handled and coordinated all pickups and drop-offs along with private tours from every destination. Our destinations included Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns and Sydney.

The way Jacada planned the trip was very impressive. The people who assisted us, particularly Kit and Cathy, were very responsive not only during the planning stage but even while the trip was going on. It felt like we had our own concierge throughout the trip. Other groups we have engaged with in the past would be very attentive up…

Luxury travel guide to Australia

Discover diverse and dramatic landscapes, people and places with Australia’s luxury offerings.

By Leah Dobihal

More than spacious rooms, metres of marble and fine cuisine, Australia’s premium experiences are about finding inspiration in exclusive places, chasing your passion and pausing to revel in moments of true awe.

Discover the best of Australia with this luxury guide.

Indulge in exquisite food and drink

Brae, Birregurra, VIC © Colin Page

Brae, Birregurra, Victoria © Colin Page

Australia’s food and drink offering is delicious and diverse, serving up some of the best wine, spirits and cuisine in the world. But a food journey here isn’t just about what’s on the plate; it’s about how you savour it, connecting with the makers and the produce of the place, and soaking up the scenic surrounds and sharing the experience with the ones you love.

Ultimate Winery Experiences of Australia take guests beyond the cellar door, offering exclusive experiences full of insight, history, hands-on connection and decadence. You can move between the countries best wine regions , taking part in private tastings, intimate degustations, insightful cooking classes, and more. Taste premium semillon matched with individually garnished oysters at Brokenwood  in New South Wales’ Hunter Valley , take a journey through Western Australia’s Margaret River before embarking on a behind-the-scenes tour of Leeuwin Estate or indulge in a Prestige Experience, where you’ll be whisked away in a private helicopter over South Australia’s lush Barossa Valley before being dropped at St Hugo for a private tasting.

It’s not just Australia’s wine that deserves the attention. Around the country, you’ll find distilleries crafting world-class, creative spirits with a uniquely Australian twist.  Kangaroo Island Spirits  in  South Australia  distils their  Wild Gin  with native juniper foraged from the coast of the island. At  Archie Rose  in Sydney, you can blend your own  signature whisky  and bring home a bottle, as well as the cask it was matured in. Also worth sampling is the Archie Rose Vegemite gin.

Australia’s food scene is just as exciting, with restaurants focusing on the inventive, the unexpected and the ultra-local. Each dish is a tangible taste of the earthy soil, clean water and rich landscapes that help grow the country’s beautiful produce.  Brae  in regional Victoria is all about unhurried comforts, while Sydney’s  Aria  serves up spectacular seasonal dishes alongside harbour views. Melbourne ’s Attica embraces Australia’s overlooked ingredients, creating a refined yet relaxed atmosphere where eating with your hands is encouraged.

Experience unforgettable nature and wildlife

Australia is bursting with incredible activities, but a trip here is also about the simple luxury of being among some of the world’s wildest, unspoiled nature and seeing wildlife, much of it unique to Australia, in the wild.

Follow your passion for the outdoors on one of Australia’s Great Walks . You’ll marvel at the vibrant orange boulders on the Bay of Fires Signature Walk  and the ancient, ethereal landscapes of the Larapinta Trail . But more than that, you’ll become a part of the place, finding a powerful connection not only with the land beneath you but those that walk alongside you.

To immerse yourself in Australia’s wildlife, explore the many experiences on offer from  Australian Wildlife Journeys , all characterised by expert guides and underpinned by strong conservation principles. You can swim next to  whale sharks  in the azure waters of Exmouth in  Western Australia , or spot tree kangaroos and southern cassowaries with  FNQ Tours  in  Tropical North Queensland . Embark on an expedition with  Lords Kakadu & Arnhemland Safaris , where you’ll have the privilege of accessing some of Australia’s culturally significant sites and most cherished ecosystems, brimming with crocodiles, birds and buffalo.

Stay in luxurious lodges

Longitude 131, Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park, Red Centre, NT © Luxury Lodges of Australia

Longitude 131, Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park, Red Centre, Northern Territory © Luxury Lodges of Australia

Australia’s luxury accommodation is as much about connecting with a place as it is about a beautiful space to stay. Each corner of the country offers a unique scene, from the raw wilderness of Tasmania to the red dirt of the Aussie outback.

The privileged location of  Longitude 131 , sited just outside the Northern Territory’s r u-Kata Tju t a National Park">Ulu r u-Kata Tju t a National Park , allows views of Ulu r u from each pavilion. Slide open the floor-to-ceiling windows of your luxury tent pavilion to stare out at Australia’s spiritual centre from your private balcony, with the amber hues of Ulu r u changing as the day brightens.

On the  Great Barrier Reef ’s  Hamilton Island , you’ll find the impeccably-appointed  qualia . The private pavilions frame a mesmerising view of the turquoise waters and layers of Whitsunday islands on the horizon. Guests here have priority access to Australia’s only championship island golf course, and can arrange private experiences like scenic helicopter flights over the jaw-dropping  Whitsunday Islands . Also in the Whitsundays ,  Orpheus Island Lodge  offers immaculate coastlines and a truly memorable escape along with unforgettable dining, incredible underwater experiences and luxuriously relaxed rooms.

Mount Mulligan Lodge , located about 3.5 hours from Cairns, offers an entirely different  Queensland  experience. Instead of reefs and beaches, you’ll find tabletop mountains and eucalyptus woodland where you can discover the breathtaking balance between adrenaline-inducing outback activities  and quiet tranquility.

Australia's southernmost state, Tasmania , is renowned for its wild natural beauty, and every step you take in this part of the country enhances your connections to nature. On King Island you'll find the divine Kittawa Lodge , a blissfully secluded escape that flows onto a rugged coastline. Exceptional local produce and breathtaking wildlife are just a few of the treasures you'll find at its doorstep.

Australia is home to a wealth of unforgettable experiences, but few are as profound - or personal - as the journeys you can take into Aboriginal cultures .

Aboriginal cultures are both ancient and complex, dating back more than 50,000 years. Australia’s Aboriginal peoples are warm, welcoming and generous of spirit, inviting you to experience exquisite art, exclusive accommodation, ancient pilgrimages and unrivalled adventures. To share, discuss and learn from Australia’s traditional custodians is a truly special privilege. And for many, a treasured spiritual connection with place.

Cape Cultural Tours  shares with you the Boodja (country) of the Wadandi people in Western Australia. The Margaret River region will come alive as your guide reveals the Noongar seasons and the never-ending connections with the rivers, seas, animals and plants. You’ll walk along the spectacular Cape to Cape Track, hearing the Aboriginal interpretation of the surrounding seascape. Arrange a private, customised tour for an even more immersive experience.

Aboriginal experiences are also accessible from some of Australia’s most beautiful accommodation, including  Pretty Beach House  and their welcome to country,  Longitude 131  in the  Red Centre  and their connection with the desert art community or the stunning wilderness huts along the  wukalina  Walk"> wukalina  Walk . A stay at  Silky Oaks Lodge , located in the lush green of the World Heritage-listed  Daintree Rainforest , not only brings true tranquility but also the opportunity to explore the Kuku Yalanji people’s environment with  Walkabout Cultural Adventures . Your guide, Juan, has led journeys through the Daintree area for more than 15 years, but his connection to his tribal lands stretches back tens of thousands, and as such, he can take you to places others aren’t able to go. Amble through the world’s oldest living rainforest as Juan shares with you ancient wisdom and practices. You may find yourself collecting shellfish, stopping for a swim in a freshwater stream or simply listening to Juan as he explains how his totem is the crocodile - he looks after the crocodile, and the crocodile looks after him.

From remote island golf courses to secluded coves for fishing, Australia has so much to offer the avid or aspiring athlete and adventurer.

With an abundance of over 4,000 species of fish, lightly fished waters and over 36,000 kilometres (22,000 miles) of sparsely populated coastline, Australia is one of the world’s best angler destinations.
