Daily Itinerary

Day 1 day 1 - depart the usa.

Your pilgrimage begins as you depart the USA on your international overnight flight.

Day 2 Day 2 - ARRIVE IN GREECE

You will arrive in Thessaloniki, Greece, where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 Day 3 - AMPHIPOLIS, PHILIPPI, and NEAPOLI (KAVALA)

Follow in the footsteps of Paul and Silas to Amphipolis and explore the ruins of the many Christian basilicas there. In Philippi is a baptismal site commemorating where God opened the heart of Lydia (a seller of purple from Thyatira) to hear the words of Paul (Acts 16:13 -15). Lydia and her household were the first Christian converts baptized on European soil. View the Roman-era crypt thought to have served as a prison for the Apostle Paul, and explore Philippi’s famous Acropolis, marketplace, the Basilica of Paul, and theater. Today’s last stop is Neapolis (Kavala), one of Greece’s most picturesque mainland ports, where Paul landed with his disciples, Timothy and Silas. See the Roman aqueduct and acropolis before returning to Thessaloniki for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 Day 4 - THESSALONIKI and VERIA (BEREA)

Discover Thessaloniki, where Paul was accused of turning the world upside down with his preaching of Christ (Acts 17: 3 -6). As you explore St. George’s Basilica, believed to be built over the synagogue where Paul preached, reflect on the two epistles the Apostle Paul wrote to the Thessalonian church here. Stroll through the Archaeological Museum and the beautiful basilicas of St. Sophia and St. Demetrios. St. Demetrios is dedicated to a distinguished Roman proconsul martyred for his Christian faith. Along the Via Egnatia stands the Galerius Arch, where you can look out over the second-largest city in Greece from the Old City Ramparts, some dating back to Roman times. Follow the path of Paul when he fled Thessaloniki for the safety of Veria (Berea), where Jews and some honorable Greeks accepted the new faith (Acts 17: 10 -12). Continue on to Kalambaka for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 Day 5 - METEORA and DELPHI

As you visit the rock forest of Meteora (“in the heavens above”) in western Thessaly, imagine the Apostle Paul walking that treacherous terrain on his missionary journey. Gaze up at the breathtaking Byzantine monasteries spectacularly perched on soaring, sheer-sided gray sandstone pillars. In the 13th century, monks sought refuge in cliff-side caves before fleeing higher to build the original wooden shelters that later became these monasteries. After a monastery tour, travel to scenic Delphi, the religious center of the ancient Greek world and marked by the conical stone called the omphalos (“navel”). Walk the Sacra Via to the Athenian Treasury, Theatre, and the Temple of Apollo, where the oracle performed her prophetic rituals. As you consider the incredible amount of pagan influence just in Delphi alone, you will gain a new appreciation for the tremendous spiritual opposition the Apostle Paul faced in preaching the Gospel of Christ here. In the Museum are many ancient treasures, including the fifth-century, bronzed charioteer so detailed you can see his eyelashes. Continue to Athens for overnight.

Day 6 Day 6 - CORINTH and CENCHREAE

Tour the city of Corinth, where the Apostle Paul met fellow tentmakers Aquila and Priscilla and received a vision from the Lord saying, “I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city” (Acts 18: 10). As Paul spoke, Crispus (chief ruler of the synagogue) and many others believed and were baptized (Acts 18:8), establishing the church at Corinth to whom Paul later wrote his two epistles. Discover the archaeological museum, marketplace, and temples. As you walk among the ruins, stand on the Bema, where the Apostle Paul stood before Gallio to face charges brought against him by the Jews. Stop briefly at the port town of Cenchreae from which Paul later departed for Syria (Acts 18: 12-18). Return to Athens for dinner and overnight.

Day 7 Day 7- ATHENS

(Note – Cruise extension passengers will depart from the group this morning and head to Piraeus for their cruise ship) Enjoy the rich architectural splendor of the ancient city of Athens as your guide introduces you to the world-renowned Acropolis, the Propylaea, the Parthenon, and the Erectheum. Stand on Mars Hill as the Apostle Paul did when he proclaimed, “I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom, therefore, ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you” (Acts 17:23). As you stroll the agora (ancient marketplace and center of Athenian public life), recall that this was where the Apostle Paul preached “Jesus and the resurrection” (Acts 17:18) to the skeptical Athenians. Also, see the House of Parliament, the Presidential Palace, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. This afternoon, you are free to explore Athens on your own or enjoy an optional journey to Sounion to visit the famous Temple of Poseidon (an additional $75). Dinner and overnight is spent in Athens.

Day 8 Day 8 - RETURN TO THE USA

Return home with a new understanding of the apostle Paul's life and ministry.

Enhance Your Journey

Greek isle cruise extension $1248.

Day 7 – EMBARK IN PIRAEUS & MYKONOS  Board the ship and sail the blue waters of the Aegean Sea. In the evening, you will arrive at the world-famous Greek Island of Mykonos, where gleaming white-washed buildings seem to climb atop each other to reach the azure sky. Shore excursion is not included.

Day 8 – EPHESUS & PATMOS   This morning, you arrive in Kusadasi, Turkey, and journey to Ephesus, where the Apostle Paul spent three years of his ministry. He planted a church here and later wrote to them in his Epistle to the Ephesians. Many of the ruins of Ephesus (known as “the marble city”) have been restored to show the city as it was in the Apostle Paul’s time. Visit the agora and imagine where Demetrius, the silver-smith, sold his silver shrines of the Greek goddess Artemis. Stroll through the great theater, where Paul witnessed faithfully for Christ. Not far away is the stadium where chariot races took place and gladiatorial combats were held. Tradition has it that the Apostle Paul himself fought here against wild beasts. Visit the ruins of St. John’s Basilica, where early Christian tradition tells us the “disciple whom Jesus loved” was buried. View one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the ruins of the Temple of Diana (Artemis), before setting sail for the Island of Patmos to visit the Monastery of St. John high on the mountain overlooking the entire island. Walk down to the Grotto of the Apocalypse and the caves where it is believed that the exiled Apostle John lived and was inspired by God to write the Book of Revelation as well as other letters to the early church.

Day 9 – CRETE & SANTORINI Dock this morning in Crete’s port of Heraklion, just three miles away from the fantastic ruins of the Palace of Knossos. Discovered in 1899 and partially reconstructed, the elaborate Palace is believed to be the mythical Labyrinth of King Minos and the seat of ancient Minoan culture. Disembark at Santorini, one of the most beautiful Greek island, where picturesque whitewashed villages topped with brilliant blue domes stand in stark contrast to the sheer drop cliffs overlooking the Aegean Sea. The island itself perches on the edges of a volcano whose eruption 3,500 years ago is thought to have led to the collapse of the Minoan civilization. Shore excursion is not included.

Day 10 – ATHENS  Enjoy the rich architectural splendor of the ancient city of Athens as your guide introduces you to the world-renowned Acropolis, the Propylaea, the Parthenon, and the Erectheum.

Day 11 – RETURN TO THE USA Return home with a new appreciation of the Apostle Paul’s life and ministry.

Guests taking an extension may be on a different flight than their group and/or traveling companion. *A 3.5% surcharge will be added to all credit card transactions.

Booked a tour to Israel earlier this year for January 2024 (March timeframe). Paid in full. Then the war broke out in Israel. My group decided to postpone the trip until next year. I decided to just cancel, and rebook later. I requested a refund on November 1st. According to EO, it takes "6 to 8 weeks" to process the refund. Contacted the one email address they provided multiple times to request the status of my refund to hear the same thing "6 to 8 weeks." Which, really, is unbelievable considering there is a war on and they (EO) were going to be forced to cancel trips to Israel anyway. So here I am on week 7 of waiting (while EO has had my full payment since April or May) and EO says "It looks like our accounting department has started working on it" and it would be 1-2 more weeks..... I hope EO put my money to good use while they had it, goodness knows I sure could have used it back quicker than this. They may provide a good tour, I don't know. But their customer service and accounting departments leave a lot to be desired. Will NEVER consider travelling with them.

Due to the situation in Israel our church group tour to the HolyLands was first postponed one year then cancelled. EO held $215 per person as a cancellation fee ( rather than $100 which is what we were originally told). Additionally the refund will take 4-6 weeks! EO was not cooperative and their representatives apparently not well trained in dealing with the details of the situation. I won't travel with them again.

Booked a tour to Israel with them and of course had to cancel. They then changed the trip completly and WILL NOT REFUND the entire amount of the trip. I wish I had never heard of this company DO NOT use them you will be scammed out of money.

Photo of Joy G.

Excellent attention to detail bar none the absolute best. They care about leaving pilgrims that tour with them with the experience that they care for your welfare from the start of your trip to the end! Mark Boston, Mr. Ridgeway and staff are top notch at what they do. They demonstrate their real 50 years plus travel experience in the way they start your tour until the very end to include surveys. They are the best I. The touring business. Please be careful with those companies that say they have experience; read their reviews in all places. Yelp should give them an honorable mention simply with the way people express their experiences.

Joy, thank you for giving us a five-star review and taking the time to update your previous review. We hope to see you on a journey soon!

Boy was I misled about the finest company to join if interested in traveling abroad. I was clearly mistaken about what was #1 priority and EO is definitely the company that care and takes care of each pilgrim with finesse. No other company demonstrates with actual action and true and good will and good intentions like EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES tour co.

I cannot even give this company a one star. Office staff is undergoing large turnover so the staff is short and curt about helping. You can see teeth gritting from anger or condescending tone over the phone. Any church or religious establishment that wants to consider this company should be aware that they care up to the point until you give your money and then after that your experience will go south; with company employees or volunteers over in this area to visit have nothing to offer other than that they regret any inconvenience but they cannot help. The head of company does not take responsibility for situations that are "beyond his control ", tell me who wants to place their hard earned money where even the head person cannot fix what was supposed to be set in place from the start. Excuse after excuses are all that I heard. Nope not taking this family for their money ever again.. company manager please don't even send a regret of our experience I know you're paid to say anything and no you could never write me to make it right not even if you paid us to return.

Photo of Sherri S.

This company is only good for church groups. please don't book as individuals. any positive review you see will be from a pastor or someone directly connected with one. after purchasing insurance, we were denied any refund when my elderly father fell I'll. we even had doctor's notes. in addition, one in our party (the other elderly) has since passed away. we were issued vouchers but no refund or transfer of voucher for the person who passed. SO, my father and I used our vouchers so that at least $22,000 of the $42,0000 that we had spent would not go to waste. To say that the trip was a disaster is an understatement. the speaker cancelled, we were never notified and my father was not up to the trip. we had to disembark in Quebec because he kept falling. it is impossible to get in touch with anyone at EO and they will ignore your e mails. only the preachers like this company...their trips are free. please do NOT book with this company

Photo of Ralph C.

Don't know where to begin. Can one leave "negative" stars? Every poor review you read here is accurate. Better yet, visit the Better Business Bureau posts---those will also give you a very accurate snapshot-- every complaint there receives not an apologetic response, but a defensive and at times, completely unsympathetic response from EO. Signing up is great--but once you have paid, "ghosting" is common business practice here. Unorganized, unsympathetic, non-communative, defensive and aside from one or two staff-- quite unprofessional. Do all of these traits align with a company that promotes itself as a "Christian" tour operator? Traveled with a few friends, and we basically all agreed we would never use EO again. If they do not turn their ship around, I suspect they will be out of business within a year....

Photo of William L.

if you are looking for a tour company that helps when things go wrong, this is not the one. they are good at taking your money but not customer service. be sure to book your own flight. they wait until 8 days out to book flights. no opportunity for seat upgrades at that point. we asked months ahead about seat upgrades and assured we would have them if requested. I followed up weekly. no response until after the seats were booked and then no response from EO after that. they also will not help with lost bags or rebooking of flights.

Photo of Susan M.

Horrible customer service. My in laws used this agency to travel from the US to Holy Land, and their flight was cancelled due to mechanical issues. Not the agencies fault but of course their flight route was changed and their luggage was lost for a week. They were sent to Jerusalem via Germany and had NO luggage other than what they were wearing. It was SNOWING on the ground in Germany, and while there overnight, my MIL only had FLIP FLOPS and a cardigan! Fast forward, they finally arrive to Jerusalem and the luggage comes a week later. ALL my in laws need from EO Tours is a simple statement proving when they delivered the luggage for their insurance claim and EO won't provide that to them. All of the agents and customer service reps ignore their requests, and some even go as far to deny them by saying no! What kind of nonsense is that?! Your responsibility to paying customers doesn't end once they return if something like this happens. They paid for a hassle-free service and your company has RUINED this unique, Holy, and beautiful experience and turned it into a headache and a nightmare. Please do better and provide them with the statement they need to close this chapter. You know, people work really HARD for their money and when paying for a service it'd be nice to receive kindness and professionalism. However, Educational Opportunities has done none of that. Stop with the hassle! I will never approve my senior in-laws, or anyone for that matter, to use you all again. -1 out of 5 stars. BEWARE of this agency! If something where to go wrong, out of your hands, they will literally leave you stranded, alone, and without the resources you need to make things right and be comfortable! A legit shame. UPDATE: they made it right. And gave us the letter.

Photo of David B.

This company has very poor customer service. I will not use them again for my future group tours.

Photo of Marisol L.

Our group received the final itinerary 2 calendar says before departure. One group missed their initial flight because of mechanical problems and they could not re-arrange the schedule to minimize the loss of tours and activities. The final itinerary was incorrect and was only after personally checking with the airline that found out my itinerary had changed. Was never notified by the agency and neither did the other 26 persons in the group. Tours and activities were good but travel was not good.

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Summer 2024 programs for high schoolers still accepting applications.

Summer is often a time for students to refresh after a hard year of classes and extracurricular activities. However, for the many high schoolers who have their eyes on competitive colleges or programs, like Direct Medical Programs, they might be trying to maximize their potential by attending enriching summer programs. These programs offer students a wide range of hands-on opportunities to dive deeper into their desired career or major choice.

Summer programs for high school students can be a great way for students to gain hands-on ... [+] experience.

Summer programs also allow students to explore subjects that a traditional high school curriculum doesn’t cover. For example, students might be able to spend a few weeks doing research or writing a research article that can be published in a scientific journal.

Additionally, these programs help students branch out beyond their comfort zones and meet new people. Some in-person programs are held on college campuses, giving students a chance to see what life will be like away from home. Even virtual summer programs offer students the opportunity to step out of their comfort zone, make new friendships and learn how to navigate unfamiliar challenges independently.

Yet another benefit of these programs is that they can give students a leg-up during the college application process. Admission officers seek students who have expressed passion and depth in certain areas. While a summer program isn’t the only meaningful way to fill a summer, it can help students demonstrate their commitment to their personal and academic growth, giving them an advantage in the application process, particularly to competitive schools.

However, many summer programs started accepting applications in December or January, with most closing applications in February or early March. Therefore, students who haven’t applied to summer programs yet or didn't get into the ones they did apply to might be scrambling to find an alternative. Here are 11 summer programs that are still accepting applications.

USDA Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres Small Continues College Tour with Visit to UW-Madison

MADISON, Wisc., April 12, 2024 – U.S. Agriculture (USDA) Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres Small visited University of Wisconsin – Madison on Friday, April 12, to highlight the department’s ongoing support for agricultural research and education at UW-Madison and met with students to discuss potential career opportunities available for the next generation of farmers, foresters, conservationists, and entrepreneurs.

The Deputy’s visit included a tour of the D.C. Smith Greenhouse, and meetings with UW-Madison leadership and student groups.

“Thanks to historic funding secured by President Biden, USDA is creating new opportunities for the next generation of farmers, foresters, researchers, and entrepreneurs in Wisconsin,” said Agriculture Deputy Secretary Xochitl Torres Small. “These investments will bring economic opportunity back to rural communities, better position students to build a more resilient food system and give them the chance to succeed in the communities they love.”

During her college tour, Deputy Secretary Torres Small will visit campuses across the country to underscore how colleges and universities are working with USDA to advance rural prosperity, climate-smart practices, competition, and sustainability. Deputy Secretary Torres small will also highlight how USDA is making a difference on college campuses, from new funding for education and training to cutting edge research to economic development to build a food and agriculture food system. The Deputy’s College Tour will include visits to Land-grant Universities, 1980s Land-grant Colleges and Universities, 1994 Institutions, Hispanic-serving institutions, community colleges, and state schools.

USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) provided more than $5 billion in support to land-grant university campuses since fiscal year 2021, offering student-centered scholarships to recruit, mentor, and train undergraduate students for jobs in food and agricultural sciences and related fields. NIFA has invested over $105 million at UW-Madison during the Biden-Harris Administration. $60.59 million has been awarded competitively, with $44.79 million being capacity funding. Highlighted projects include:

  • Returning To Our Roots: Rebuilding Native Farming Traditions and Food Sovereignty For Great Lakes Indigenous People – ($10M; FY23): This project uses a partnership between the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Wisconsin Tribal Conservation Advisory Council, Menominee Nation, and the Great Lakes Intertribal Food Coalition to scale up contemporary climate-smart Indigenous food systems that align with cultural values, restore community health and well-being, and foster economic development.
  • Biobased, fully soil-biodegradable mulch films prepared from biomass for sustainable bioeconomy - ($1M; FY23): This integrated research-extension project will develop 100% biobased and fully soil-biodegradable mulch films from low-cost and renewable biomass (e.g., poplar wood, forest residues, sawdust) through a facile process of dissolution and regeneration. Techno-economic analysis and life cycle assessment will be conducted to quantify the economic feasibility and potential environmental impact of the proposed films for mulch applications compared with conventional polyethylene films. Successful completion of the project will provide a fully biobased and soil-biodegradable mulch film to replace plastic ones, which will benefit agriculture, the environment, and the bioeconomy.

USDA’s Rural Development (RD) is one of several agencies under the USDA umbrella working to help improve the economy and quality of life in rural America and across Wisconsin. To date, Wisconsin RD has invested over $1.5 billion since 2021 to support rural housing, infrastructure, and business development in communities across the state.

“Our programs help position rural communities to compete in a global economy and open opportunities for the workforce of tomorrow,” said Julie Lassa USDA Rural Development Wisconsin State Director. “USDA’s investments in Wisconsin are reaching communities in every corner of the state, including those that have too often been left behind. These investments will help bring more housing, improved infrastructure, and increase business development that spurs economic opportunity and builds rural prosperity.”

USDA Rural Development provides loans and grants to help expand economic opportunities, create jobs and improve the quality of life for millions of Americans in rural areas. This assistance supports infrastructure improvements; business development; housing; community facilities such as schools, public safety, and health care; and high-speed internet access in rural, tribal and high-poverty areas. • Summer internship season is almost here, and students will soon be filling the most coveted opportunities.
  • Glassdoor published a ranking Wednesday of the 25 best internships of 2024, based on interns' reviews.
  • It's largely tech, finance, and consulting, and includes gigs with reported pay of $9,000+ a month.

Insider Today

With summer internship season fast approaching, many students and recent grads will soon find themselves in prestigious internships — some of which could actually be pretty lucrative.

A new ranking from workplace review site Glassdoor lays out the best internships of the year, as determined by pay and career growth opportunities, based on reviews and ratings from interns themselves.

The list is dominated by industries like tech, finance, and consulting and includes several internships with reported pay exceeding $9,000 a month.

Companies had to have received at least 30 salary reports and at least 15 career opportunities ratings by US-based interns from April 1, 2023, through March 31, 2024, to be considered for the list. The named companies didn't verify the reported compensation and might not be actively hiring for internships right now. But they still offer a glimpse into the most exclusive roles for students and recent grads .

Take a look at the best internships of 2024, according to Glassdoor:
