Comfort is key for a long-haul flight, but Angelina Jolie isn’t giving up her signature style even while thousands of feet in the air. No joggers or hoodies for her. On Tuesday the actress was seen at New York’s JFK Airport looking more prepared for an elegant night out than international travel. But after all, Jolie rarely wavers from her ultra-chic, low-key style so is it that surprising she adopted that spirit for travel?

Accompanied by two of her children Vivienne and Pax, the 48-year-old stepped out in a monochromatic black look that had all the makings of a signature Jolie ensemble. Underneath, she opted for a crew neck knit maxi dress that, despite dragging behind her, appeared to be a comfortable layer to begin the rest of the look.

She then added a slightly roomy double-breasted, calf-length overcoat that had pretty sizable pockets on either side. For footwear, the actress chose a very practical choice in the form of black ballet flats. And of course, a chic pair of sunglasses had to make an appearance too. The only departure from the black palette was Jolie’s impressive luggage choices.

She opted for a trio of travel it-bags for her journey. Jolie paired a sleek titanium suitcase with a monogram Celine tote bag. And naturally, inside her carry-on was an always useful Louis Vuitton pouch.

Jolie has been traveling in and out of the Big Apple a lot recently. Last month, the star was spotted donning the same sunglasses and flats which she paired with an extremely similar maxi dress and coat to her most recent look. To say the actress has found her airport uniform would be an understatement.

While it is unclear whether Jolie’s travels are for business or pleasure (maybe a bit of both), she’s been quite busy this summer. In addition to her recently announced line Atelier Jolie which launches in the fall, she also signed on to the Broadway musical The Outsiders as lead producer (and is receiving special help from her 15-year-old daughter Vivienne).

“Viv reminds me of my mother in that she isn’t focused on being the center of attention but in being a support to other creatives," Jolie said in a statement released to People . "She’s very thoughtful and serious about theatre and working hard to best understand how to contribute.”

Jolie originally wore the gown, which was created by the American designer Marc Bouwer, to the Academy Awards back in 2004. The elegant ivory dress features delicate ruching around the waist, a plunging neckline and an entirely cut-away back.

Exactly two decades later, Sweeney breathed new life into the archival style. Working with her stylist Molly Dickinson, the Euphoria star chose to accessorise in a similar way to Jolie, with the same matching white sash and layered necklaces by Messika (a custom design created specially for Sweeney). Dickinson took to Instagram to thank Marc Bouwer and the brand's president Paul Margolin for the dress, writing: "Thank you so much Marc + @paulmargolin for letting us into your archives for this special moment!"

The point of difference was the glam; while Jolie originally opted for a sleek half-up, half-down hairstyle, Sweeney chose the occasion to debut a voluminous new bob – which added some additional Marilyn Monroe-inspired bombshell glamour to the look.

Neil Lane Talks Collaborating with Angelina Jolie for Suleika Jaouad's 2024 Oscars Jewelry (Exclusive)

Lane chose vintage pieces to match the upcycled gown Jolie designed

Suleika Jaouad Batiste got the true celebrity treatment for the 2024 Academy Awards .

Not only did the author, activist and wife of musician Jon Batiste wear a dress created by Angelina Jolie — the first to come out of her atelier — but she wore a collection of gorgeous jewels from celebrity jewelry designer Neil Lane .

Even better? Jolie came into Lane’s showroom to work with the jewelry designer herself in crafting Suleika’s Oscars bling.

“Angelina has a beautiful exquisite style and grace, and she knew what she wanted,” he tells PEOPLE of working with the actress. “She wanted to use vintage diamond and gold jewelry because it has such a rich warm color and it fit in with her mission of repurposing and sustainability.”

Suleika’s jewels included two necklaces, earrings and a ring. Lane tells PEOPLE one of the necklaces was handmade in France around 1875 and is set with antique rose-cut and old mine-cut diamonds. The second necklace was made in America around 1890 and is set with European cut diamonds in a hand-carved gold floral motif.

The gorgeous earrings that Suleika wore are late 19th century and set with old rose and European cut diamonds. As for the ring, Lane designed it himself. 

“The ring I designed using a vintage fancy-shaped colored diamond surrounded by rose-cut diamonds in a handmade rose gold setting,” he shares.

When Jolie came to Lane’s showroom, the jewelry designer tells PEOPLE that the actress described the dress, so he showed her pieces to complement the look. Jolie, ever the visionary, started to “put ensembles together” he says. 

“She had a vision and she knew it,” Lane adds. “Of course, when I saw [Suleika’s look] at the Oscars, it was fabulous the way she had layered the necklaces, and it was a wonderful way to balance the abundance of the silk fabric. You could just see and feel Suleika’s beauty and joy. She was radiant.”

Suleika’s one-of-a-kind dress was created in collaboration with artist Chaz Guest , which she shared on the red carpet ahead of the awards show. 

“This dress was designed by the one and only Angelina Jolie,” Suleika told Canadian outlet CTV Etalk . “Her first time designing a dress for the red carpet and she invited the amazing artist Chaz Guest to paint a symphony on the back of it.”

The dress — an upcycled silk piece with a painting of Jon conducting the symphony painted on the back — was a beautiful nod to the documentary film American Symphony, which both Suleika and Jon star in and which was nominated that night.

Suleika further praised Jolie on Instagram for dressing her, thanking the actress for making her feel so comfortable and glamorous after more than two years of treatment for her leukemia returning in 2021.

“After being in treatment for the last two years, I have a real love-hate relationship with clothes. But Angelina made me feel so beautiful and so seen that my eyes kept welling up during our fitting,” she wrote. 

“To have the story of American Symphony emblazoned on the literal fabric of my gown feels like a map of where we’ve been and how far we’ve come. It’s an embodiment of the love and the creative forces that have seen us through."

Angelina Jolie Made Her Designer Debut With an Oscars Red Carpet Gown

On Sunday, March 10 at the 2024 Oscar Awards, Angelia Jolie made her designer debut on the red carpet, although she was not the one walking in her original design.

Jolie created a gown for journalist Suleika Jaouad, singer Jon Batiste’s wife and the star of his documentary, American Symphony, which received a Best Original Song Oscar nomination .

The intricately pleated gown was made from a champagne-gold fabric. It featured a matching cape that Jaouad wore over her shoulders.

The back of the dress includes a sketch drawn by artist Chaz Guest.

“This dress was designed by the one-and-only Angelina Jolie,” Jaouad told Canadian entertainment outlet Etalk on the red carpet. “Her first time designing a dress for the red carpet, and she invited the amazing artist Chaz Guest to paint a symphony on the back of it.”

“So, we have Mr. Batiste right here,” she said, pointing at the painted conductor on her gown.

On Sunday, Jolie talked to Vogue about designing the gown for the writer.

“I have such deep admiration for Suleika and the way she lives her life—how she meets difficulty with strength and grace,” she shared. “[She’s a] brilliant creative force who inspires everyone who knows her. I would have dressed her for anything she needed. It should never be about the dress but how anything worn feels like an extension of the person.”

Atelier Jolie launched online on May 18, 2023. In early December, Jolie opened up the doors to her New York City shop. It is in in the historic SoHo building where renowned painter Jean-Michel Basquiat lived and worked in the ’80s. He rented it from fellow artist Andy Warhol, who owned the home.

Brad Pitt dealt new blow in ongoing legal battle with ex Angelina Jolie 8 years after split

The bullet train actor and maleficent actress have been engaged in a tense legal battle over their winery, château miraval, for years.

It has been almost two decades since Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie first got together, and eight since they announced their split, yet they're still in the midst of legal fallout from their divorce.

Though the former pair were declared legally single in 2019 , it wasn't until last year that their divorce was reportedly finalized, and only as a bifurcated divorce, meaning while the divorce itself is settled, other matters such as child custody or property division are set to be dealt with over a longer period of time.

At the center of their extended legal battle is their French vineyard, Château Miraval, which the couple purchased in 2008 and is where they married in 2014.

They have been at odds over the property since 2021, when Angelina sold the holding company in control of her 50% share of the winery  (Nouvel) for $67 million (to Stoli), and Brad subsequently sued her over the decision , claiming she was aiming to inflict harm on him amid their divorce.

Now, two years later, a judge has dismissed most of the Bullet Train actor's claims against his estranged former spouse.

In a statement to Entertainment Tonight , the Maleficent actress' attorney Paul Murphy said: "The judge dismissed most of Mr. Pitt's claims because they don't have a legal basis," adding: "Mr. Pitt's lawsuit has never been about a business dispute; instead, it is about his attempts to cover up serious abuse, and we are gratified the judge has thrown out so much of Mr. Pitt's complaint."

He emphasized: "Angelina truly harbors no ill-will toward Mr. Pitt, and hopes he will now release her from his frivolous lawsuit, stop his relentless attacks, and join her in helping their family heal in private."

Brad,  who still owns his own 50% stake in the winery , was suing Angelina on several claims under a variety of legal umbrellas, from Luxembourg to tort law, seeking to recover both monetary damages and legal fees.

Despite the dismissal, the lawsuit will continue, as the court has granted him time to make the dismissed claims legally tenable, and moreover two other claims remain to be settled.

One includes Brad's argument that he had an unwritten and unspoken though implied contract with Angelina that she would not sell her stake in the winery without his consent. (Though they need to meet certain criteria, implied contracts can be legally binding and enforceable in court.)

Beyond their Miraval dispute, Brad and Angelina have also been previously at odds over child custody as well as abuse allegations on behalf of the latter; she sued the FBI over their handling of the abuse allegations against Brad , which stemmed from a mid-air altercation while on a private plane, later revealed to have occurred a week before she filed for divorce.

Before their acrimonious split, the two shared six kids : Maddox, 21, Pax, 19, Zahara, 18, Shiloh, 17, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 15.

Angelina Jolie ‘Wasn’t Happy’ About Daughter Shiloh’s Decision to Move In With Brad Pitt

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt “has always been daddy’s little girl” and is moving in with dad Brad Pitt ! However, Angelina Jolie “wasn’t happy” about her daughter’s choice, but she’s still supporting her decision.

“[Angelina] knows Shiloh is a woman now and can make her own decisions,” an insider told In Touch in a story published on Friday, March 22. “Shiloh isn’t unhappy at Angelina’s, but she’s turning 18 soon and wants to shake things up.”

The Babylon actor maintained a close relationship with Shiloh, 17, following his 2016 split from the Eternals star. However, the same can’t be said about his bond with kids Maddox , 22, Pax , 20, Zahara , 19, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 15. Brad, 60, and Angelina, 48 are still battling in court over the custody of their minor kids.

The good news about the potential move? Brad’s $8.3 million Los Feliz estate is within walking distance of Angelina’s home and “Shiloh can walk over at any time to see Angie and her brothers and sisters.”

Shiloh’s decision to swap households doesn’t come as a surprise. While the celebrity teen has a sacred relationship with her mom, she also has an “ unbreakable bond ” with the Fight Club actor.

In July 2022, a source exclusively told Life & Style that Brad “is particularly close to Shiloh” as they share “the same passions.”

“The pair have a loving, fun and authentic relationship and are cut from the same cloth,” the source gushed to Life & Style .

That year, the world learned of Shiloh’s dance talents after she took classes at the Millennium dance studio in Los Angeles. Fans were thoroughly impressed with Shiloh’s rhythm and flow after a video of her dancing to Lizzo ’s “About Damn Time” circulated the internet.

“Brad never puts pressure on Shiloh and encourages her to pursue her dreams. She feels comfortable talking to her dad about anything,” the source continued to Life & Style at the time, adding that the duo enjoys “playing music together, watching movies and art, and spend a lot of their time together in his art studio being creative.”

That being said, Shiloh has been blessed with the support of both parents as she navigated her interests over the years.

In November 2021, a separate insider exclusively told Life & Style that Angelina helped “guide [Shiloh] as best as she can” after she was offered “a couple” modeling offers.

“Angie’s been there, she knows better than most the pitfalls of being a child of a celebrity,” the insider gushed. “Angie is all about protecting her kids. Brad knows his kids are in good hands.”

Sweeney and her stylist, Molly Dickinson, leaned into the reference by layering diamond necklaces, custom-made by Messika, similar to Jolie's jewelry in 2004. The actress even held her matching sash in the exact same position as the '90s icon, loosely wrapped around her wrists and draped behind her curves.

Sydney Sweeney occupies a place in the culture comparable to the space once held by Jolie, so it makes sense that she and Dickinson would decide to reimagine one of the movie star's vintage looks.

And on Sweeney, the outfit recalls another American icon, the founder of Jolie and Sweeney's bombshell category—Marilyn Monroe. Adding to the Monroe effect created by the low-cut white gown was Sweeney's new hairstyle, a romantic bob.

Brad Pitt ready to fight Angelina Jolie, billionaire over Château Miraval: ‘Standing up to bullies’

Brad Pitt is ready to take the stand in a raging battle against his ex-wife Angelina Jolie and a “bullying” Russian tycoon.

Over the past few weeks, the Oscar winner has triumphed in three legal wins over the actress and billionaire Yuri Shefler.

Pitt, 60, and Jolie, 48, split in September 2016 and have since been embroiled in an epic fight that has taken them across the globe.

They’re still fighting over finances, custody of their children — and their French vineyard, Château Miraval.

In the Miraval fight, Pitt is suing Jolie for alleged breach of contract after she sold her share of the estate to Russian oligarch Shefler, allegedly without the actor’s agreement or knowledge.

Los Angeles Superior Court this week ruled that the case could go to trial, setting the scene for a courtroom clash.

But in the meantime, he’s said to be living with his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon , 34, and a source who knows the couple told Page Six: “They’re spending all their time together. They’re super happy.”

Pitt is believed to have spent an estimated $10 million so far on lawyers fees, legal sources told Page Six. But that’s not money wasted, he believes, as one Pitt source told us: “This is all about standing up to bullies and defending his own people, principles and the truth. Brad is standing firm for what he believes in.”

The actor has long said that Jolie sold Miraval out of “spite” just weeks after he was initially awarded joint custody of their children. Jolie has denied this.

“He’s willing to go and testify on a stand if it went to trial,” the source added.

Pitt and Jolie — alongside Shefler — are duking it out in three different jurisdictions; Luxembourg, California and France.

The A-listers bought Château Miraval together in 2008, with Pitt taking a leading role in a vineyard business which produces award-winning sparkling rosé wine.

The estate also boasts a recording studio that has hosted such major acts as AC/DC, The Cure and Travis Scott. 

The couple wed there in an intimate 2014 ceremony with all six of their children present.

However, the “Fight Club” star alleged he was stunned to discover in 2021 that Jolie had sold her share of the property to Shefler without his agreement or knowledge.

Pitt insisted they struck a deal when their marriage broke down, agreeing each would get first refusal to buy the other out of the vineyard. 

When Jolie sold her stake in the South of France estate business to Shefler’s Stoli Group for $64 million in 2021, Pitt claimed he only learned of the deal through a press release.

The actor then accused the Russian of trying to “bully” and “threaten” him and hit back at a press release announcing their new “partnership,” according to a February legal filing.

In addition to this, a French appellate court also recently ruled that the Stoli group has to give papers taken in a raid on Miraval back to Pitt and his partners.

“Jolie only inked the deal with Shefler shortly after a judge granted Pitt 50-50 custody of their children,” said the Pitt source. A press release about the deal went out in October 2021, several months after Pitt was awarded joint custody. 

The exes share Maddox, 22; Pax, 20; Zahara, 19; Shiloh, 17; and twins Vivienne and Knox, 15.

Sources said Pitt now has no relationship with Pax, who has called his adoptive father an “a–hole” and an “awful human.” Zahara, a Sophomore student at Spelman College, meanwhile, has apparently dropped Pitt’s last name.

Legally, Pitt and Jolie share joint custody of their three minor children, but a source who knows both Jollie and Pitt told Page Six, “Things are tough — Angelina travels a lot with the kids and while they remain Brad’s priority, he always would like to see them more.”

Shiloh turns 18 in May and will then be under no legal order to see Pitt.

Page Six has reached out to Pitt, Jolie and Shefler for comment.

Jolie has previously claimed that she filed for divorce after Pitt tried to choke one of the kids during a boozy flight aboard a plane in September 2016, also alleging that he poured alcohol on both her and their children.

Although the FBI and the Los Angeles Department of Child and Family Services investigated, no charges were ever brought against Pitt.

Pitt — who will be heading to Europe soon to finish filming his Formula 1 movie, “Apex” — and Jolie were each declared legally single back in April 2019 after they requested a bifurcated judgement, which gives them both single status while the divorce is being finalized.

Last month, the exes served their final financial disclosures on the other party, which puts them one step closer to being officially divorced.

We’re told the status of the divorce proceeding is still pending and discussions are ongoing.

A court in Luxembourg last month provisionally stripped Shelfer of 10% of his Miraval shares, effectively making Pitt the majority shareholder.

The shares are being kept in escrow, and it will be another year before the case is decided, Page Six is told.

Judge Lia Martin in LA this week then gave Pitt the go-ahead to sue Jolie for breach of contract.

Oscar winner Jolie argued the lawsuit should be dismissed as “frivolous, malicious and part of a problematic pattern” from Pitt.

 “It’s been a really strong week,” said the Pitt source. “There have been three straight wins.

“Brad has insisted all along that Angelina only sold Miraval to Shefler to spite him.

“The fact that a judge in LA is allowing the case to move forward is significant.”

While Pitt was never looking for a legal battle, we are told, he is not afraid to fight — whatever the consequences.

“There have been really aggressive public claims against Brad, which are repeatedly turning out to be unsubstantiated,” said the source.

“All he wants to do is protect his family and his partners. And, let’s not forget, Miraval is an asset for his kids.”

Angelina Jolie Talks Designing Suleika Jaouad’s Oscars Dress

Typically, Angelina Jolie walks the Oscars red carpet as an A-list nominee, or serves as a presenter for the evening. But this year, the actor took on a more behind-the-scenes role at the 96th annual ceremony: She designed a red carpet dress for it.

Under her new fashion label Atelier Jolie , which launched last year with a focus on sustainability and upcycling, Jolie created a custom dress for writer and artist Suleika Jaouad; Jaouad stars in the documentary film American Symphony alongside husband Jon Batiste, which is nominated in the best original song category this evening. “I have such deep admiration for Suleika and the way she lives her life—how she meets difficulty with strength and grace,” Jolie tells Vogue . “[She’s a] brilliant creative force who inspires everyone who knows her. I would have dressed her for anything she needed; It should never be about the dress, but how anything worn feels like an extension of the person.”

The American Symphony documentary follows musician Batiste as he sets out to compose a symphony while his partner, Jaouad, learns that her leukemia is back after a decade in remission. “There were many weeks when we couldn’t see each other, because he had to be out in the world for work, and the exposure risk was too high,” Jaouad tells Vogue . “Lullabies became his way of enveloping me with care, love, and presence from a distance. To see that lullaby become a full-fledged song [titled “It Never Went Away”], become a part of a film, and then go on to be nominated at the Oscars, shows how much things can change in two years.”

Given the film centers around themes of resiliency, and the healing role that music can play within that, Jolie wanted to create a look that nodded to Jaouad’s own artistic roots. “I wanted a look inspired by Suleika’s creativity and her love,” says Jolie. “She is a painter, and so it felt right to have her gown used as a canvas.” To do so, Jolie collaborated with American artist Chaz Guest to treat her red carpet dress as a form of wearable art. “Chaz and I have known each other for years, and I knew he would approach this with the dedication and intention needed to feel right,” says Jolie. 

Jolie wanted the dress to incorporate hand-drawn print work reflective of Jaouad’s American Symphony film. The design features an illustration of Batiste conducting an orchestra. “I used a technique of painting that is quite known in Japan: It's called sumi-e, and it's an ancient way of drawing, with sumi ink,” says Guest. Reflecting Atelier Jolie's commitment to sustainability, Guest then applied the drawings onto upcycled, 100-percent silk fabric. “It was an exercise in what could be found and used, and for us to be creative,” says Jolie, who then worked with Guest to drape the fabric on the form in an elegant way. “We laid out the panels and discussed where they would fall on her body,” says Jolie. “Like all projects within the atelier, the goal is to make clothing personal and to be bold and creative together.” 

For Guest, this was a fun challenge and approach to his work: The artist is used to drawing on canvases, not garments. “I was not familiar with painting on silk, and I was nervous because I didn't want to mess up,” he says. “But I put on Jon's music, and didn't think, and went with the full inspiration and moved as fast as I could.”

For Jaouad, seeing the end result of the look worn on herself felt both empowering and meaningful. “I was absolutely amazed by the amount of research that went into the design, and how collaborative the process was,” she says. “Angelina wanted this to be not just a visually stunning garment, but one imbued with soul and meaning. It was such a unique approach to fashion.” Even her accessories for the night—vintage Neil Lane jewelry pieces, from the 1870s to the 1970s—were intentional and sourced by Jolie herself. “Everything down to the jewelry was an in-the-moment collaborative creative decision,” Jaouad says.

While it certainly made for one of the night’s most poignant fashion moments, Jolie and the team attest that the look only serves an extension of the the beautiful sentiments found in Jaouad and Batiste’s new documentary. “American Symphony  shows one of the great artist pairings and love stories of our time,” Jolie says. “We can all learn from them about how to approach love, art, and the challenges life brings. They say in the film, ‘freedom and family.’ There really isn’t anything more important.”
