Coming off the success of his 2020 One Night Only Drive-In Tour, Comedian Nate Bargatze has announced additional dates for The Raincheck Tour, including a stop in Cincinnati, OH at Taft Theatre on Friday, January 14, 2022.

Following the release of his highly anticipated 2 nd  Netflix special,  The Greatest Average American ,  now streaming worldwide on Netflix, The Raincheck Tour will feature all new material.

Hailing from Old Hickory, Tennessee, stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze sells out shows across the world. Bargatze’s comedy is both clean and relatable, which is evident in his ten appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon  following four appearances on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. In March 2019, Nate’s first solo one-hour Netflix special,  The Tennessee Kid  premiered globally with rave reviews.

In July 2020, the comedian teamed up with All Things Comedy to release his new podcast,  Nateland.  The world is a crazy place and there's plenty of podcasts out there tackling the tough issues. However,  Nateland  tackles the meaningless issues that we face day to day to give listeners a much-needed mental break from fighting the good fight. New episodes release Wednesdays, with video available on  Nate’s YouTube channel  and audio available everywhere you get podcasts.

Nate Bargatze is back to make up dates on his Raincheck tour

Comic Nate Bargatze headlines Bing Crosby Theater on Friday night. (Courtesy)

Not everything is a joke to Nate Bargatze. The veteran comic sincerely appreciates the fans who held onto their tickets for shows from the early days of the pandemic. “It means a lot to me that people held on to their tickets for two years,” Bargatze said while calling from Lake Tahoe. “That means a lot to me.”

Bargatze, who will headline Friday at Bing Crosby Theater, is delivering a new set on his aptly dubbed Raincheck tour that will be captured for a TV special in September. “I’m going to talk a lot about my family,” Bargatze said. “I’ll talk about being first born and just go with some life stories. I’ll talk about how I lost weight and what it’s like to be 43.”

It’s not easy to explain the box office appeal of Bargatze, who doesn’t have a TV vehicle or notable film credits. The same goes for his pals Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer. However, all three standups have blown up as live entertainers.

“Comedy has changed so much from when I started in this business (in 2003),” Bargatze said. “There wasn’t Netflix or podcasts. Those are huge reasons why guys like Tom, Bert and I have such an audience without a sitcom or movies.

“The other huge thing is that comedy is everywhere. Comedy is in your pocket. Pull out your phone, and you have access to some amazing comedians. Appearing on a podcast, not just having one, but appearing on a popular one can change your life.”

UFC commentator and comic Joe Rogan’s podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience” has been a game-changer for Bargatze. “Joe’s podcast is massive,” Bargatze said. “His podcast is more influential than a sitcom. If he stopped doing a podcast to focus on a sitcom, that would be a step down. That’s how much the industry has changed.”

What hasn’t changed for comics is that they still have to be amusing to attract and keep an audience. Bargatze, who hails from sleepy Old Hickory, Tenn., jokes about relatable subjects such as travel, family and pop culture. The married father of a 10-year-old daughter delivers a hilarious bit on how the young mothers from MTV’s “Teen Mom” have the right idea.

“It would be a lot easier to have kids when you’re 16 years old,” Bargatze said. “When you’re my age and you have a young kid, you get tired. But, I love being a father and a husband. I talk about the fights my wife and I have, and not only is it something people can connect with, what I talk about comes from a place of love. I’m not an angry comic. My family comes first.”

After living in Los Angeles for the past decade, Bargatze moved back to the Volunteer State for the sake of his daughter. “I wanted her to have a normal life,” Bargatze said. “Los Angeles is full of the abnormal. The cool thing is that I can have a career, and she can have a regular childhood. It’s all worked out for us.”

There was a time when Bargatze wondered while working out material in New York during his early years if his career in comedy would pan out. “You never know what’s going to happen in this business,” he said. “You pay your dues for years. When good things happen, it might not work out as you hoped.”

Timing is everything in comedy. Bargatze laughs at how his first Netflix special debuted when iconic boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. battled the legendary Manny Pacquiao in what was dubbed the “Fight of the Century” in May 2015.

“Nobody watched my special that night,” Bargatze said. “I didn’t even watch it since I wanted to see that fight so bad. Talk about bad luck. But that’s the way it goes sometimes. It was just one of those things that was out of my control. But what I can control is my material, and that’s the cool thing about what I do. There’s no gatekeepers. It’s all me when it comes to the important stuff.”

Bargatze is sincerely looking forward to returning to Spokane. “When someone says, ‘Is there a town you love that people don’t necessarily think of?’ I say that town is Spokane,” Bargatze said. “I always mention your city. I’ve been there a bunch of times, and it’s always amazing.

“The first time I went there, you were having that basketball tournament (Hoopfest) with the three-on-three games. It was awesome. I stood around and watched people play basketball. I’m a big fan of Spokane. It’s such a cool town, and I get to come back to it.”

I didn’t think I would ever need WA Cares: I was wrong

I never thought I would need someone to care for me.

Syracuse, N.Y. — Comedian Jimmy Fallon made a surprise appearance at a Syracuse comedy show Friday night, doing a 15-minute set opening for Nate Bargatze in front of a sellout crowd at the Oncenter War Memorial.

The show was part of the Be Funny Tour, featuring Bargatze, a standup comic from Tennessee. Fallon, host of “The Tonight Show” and a former cast member on “Saturday Night Live,” was teased as a “special guest” early in the show. Among the three other openers was Steven Rogers , who is from Liverpool, N.Y.

Fallon wore sneakers with orange laces. He joked about his family, his upbringing near upstate New York (he grew up in Ulster County), and his alma mater, the College of Saint Rose, which has announced it is closing . Fallon joked about attending a college that is going out of business. He also did a “thank you note” bit.

Bargatze said Fallon is only joining the tour in a handful of cities. Fallon chose Syracuse and Albany, he said. The tour stops at the MVP Arena in Albany on Saturday, March 9.

Julian McCullough, who emceed the show, said Fallon was a big reason the comedians on the tour got together. Bargatze has performed on “The Tonight Show.”

Bargatze, whose 2022 Netflix special “The Tennessee Kid” launched him to national fame, did an hour of new material after Fallon’s opening set. He joked about family life, getting old, arguments with his wife, and county fairs. Bargatze hosted an episode of “Saturday Night Live” last fall.

Fallon famously visited the Salt City in 2020 along with Tom Brady and Julian Edelman. All three were guests of scrap metal magnate Adam Weitsman at the Carrier Dome for an SU men’s basketball game.

Last year he visited the Rochester area on St. Patrick’s Day , where he sang along with the band at a pub in Fairport.

Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-3

National origin:- Soviet Union Role:- Fighter Interceptor Manufacturer:- Mikoyan-Gurevich Designer:- First flight:- 29th October 1940 Introduction:- 1941 Status:- Retired 1945 Produced:- 1940-1941 Number built:- 3,422 Primary users:- Soviet Air Forces (VVS); Soviet Air Defence Forces (PVO); Soviet Naval Aviation Developed from:- Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-1 Variants:- Mikoyan-Gurevich I-211 Operational history MiG-3s were delivered to frontline fighter regiments beginning in the spring of 1941 and were a handful for pilots accustomed to the lower-performance and docile Polikarpov I-152 and I-153 biplanes and the Polikarpov I-16 monoplane. It remained tricky and demanding to fly even after the extensive improvements made over the MiG-1. Many fighter regiments had not kept pace in training pilots to handle the MiG and the rapid pace of deliveries resulted in many units having more MiGs than trained pilots during the German invasion. By 1 June 1941, 1,029 MIG-3s were on strength, but there were only 494 trained pilots. In contrast to the untrained pilots of the 31st Fighter Regiment, those of the 4th Fighter Regiment were able to claim three German high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft shot down before war broke out in June 1941. However high-altitude combat of this sort was to prove to be uncommon on the Eastern Front where most air-to-air engagements were at altitudes well below 5,000 metres (16,000 ft). At these altitudes the MiG-3 was outclassed by the Bf 109 in all respects, and even by other new Soviet fighters such as the Yakovlev Yak-1. Furthermore, the shortage of ground-attack aircraft in 1941 forced it into that role as well, for which it was totally unsuited. Pilot Alexander E. Shvarev recalled: "The Mig was perfect at altitudes of 4,000 m and above. But at lower altitudes it was, as they say, 'a cow'. That was the first weakness. The second was its armament: weapons failure dogged this aircraft. The third weakness was its gunsights, which were inaccurate: that's why we closed in as much as we could and fired point blank." On 22 June 1941, most MiG-3s and MiG-1s were in the border military districts of the Soviet Union. The Leningrad Military District had 164, 135 were in the Baltic Military District, 233 in the Western Special Military District, 190 in the Kiev Military District and 195 in the Odessa Military District for a total of 917 on hand, of which only 81 were non-operational. An additional 64 MiGs were assigned to Naval Aviation, 38 in the Air Force of the Baltic Fleet and 26 in the Air Force of the Black Sea Fleet. The 4th and 55th Fighter Regiments had most of the MiG-3s assigned to the Odessa Military District and their experiences on the first day of the war may be taken as typical. The 4th, an experienced unit, shot down a Romanian Bristol Blenheim reconnaissance bomber, confirmed by postwar research, and lost one aircraft which crashed into an obstacle on takeoff. The 55th was much less experienced with the MiG-3 and claimed three aircraft shot down, although recent research confirms only one German Henschel Hs 126 was 40% damaged, and suffered three pilots killed and nine aircraft lost. The most unusual case was the pair of MiG-3s dispatched from the 55th on a reconnaissance mission to PloieÅŸti that failed to properly calculate their fuel consumption and both were forced to land when they ran out of fuel. Most of the MiG-3s assigned to the interior military districts were transferred to the PVO where their lack of performance at low altitudes was not so important. On 10 July 299 were assigned to the PVO, the bulk of them belonging to the 6th PVO Corps at Moscow, while only 293 remained with the VVS, and 60 with the Naval Air Forces, a total of only 652 despite deliveries of several hundred aircraft. By 1 October, on the eve of the German offensive towards Moscow codenamed Operation Typhoon, only 257 were assigned to VVS units, 209 to the PVO, and 46 to the Navy, a total of only 512, a decrease of 140 fighters since 10 July, despite deliveries of over a thousand aircraft in the intervening period. By 5 December, the start of the Soviet counter-offensive that drove the Germans back from the gates of Moscow, the Navy had 33 MiGs on hand, the VVS 210, and the PVO 309. This was a total of 552, an increase of only 40 aircraft from 1 October. Over the winter of 1941-42 the Soviets transferred all of the remaining MiG-3s to the Navy and PVO so that on 1 May 1942 none were left on strength with the VVS. By 1 May 1942, Naval Aviation had 37 MiGs on strength, while the PVO had 323 on hand on 10 May. By 1 June 1944, the Navy had transferred all its aircraft to the PVO, which reported only 17 on its own strength, and all of those were gone by 1 January 1945. Undoubtedly more remained in training units and the like, but none were assigned to combat units by then.

🔗 Sat, 05 Nov 2022 — @Silvanus_Tauris at Sheremetyevo International Airport , Russia

Sheremetyevo Alexander S. Pushkin International Airport is one of four international airports that serve the city of Moscow. It is the busiest airport in Russia, as well as the second-busiest airport in Europe. Originally built as a military airbase, Sheremetyevo was converted into a civilian airport in 1959. The airport was originally named after a nearby village, and a 2019 contest extended the name to include the name of the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.

The airport comprises six terminals: four international terminals, one domestic terminal, and one private aviation terminal. It is located 29 km northwest of central Moscow, in the city of Lobnya, Moscow Oblast.

In 2017, the airport handled about 40.1 million passengers and 308,090 aircraft movements. During 2018, the airport reported a 14.3% increase in passengers for a total of 45.8 million. There was also a 15.9% increase in aircraft traffic year over year. Sheremetyevo serves as the main hub for Russian flag carrier Aeroflot and its branch Rossiya Airlines; Nordwind Airlines and its branch Pegas Fly; and Ural Airlines.

Domodedovo Airport is one of the four major Moscow airports, one of the largest airports in Russia, and the eighth-busiest airport in Europe. In 2017, it served 30.7 million passengers, an increase of 7.6% compared to 2016, making it the second busiest airport in Russia, after the main primary airport serving Moscow, Sheremetyevo International Airport.

In 2019, a naming contest and a presidential decree was taken place, which renamed the airport after the Russian scientist, Mikhail Lomonosov.

Chkalovsky Air Base

🔗 Sat, 05 Nov 2022 — @Silvanus_Tauris at Chkalovskiy Air Base , Russia

Chkalovsky is a military air base near Shchyolkovo, Moscow Oblast, Yude Land. It is located 31 km northeast of Moscow.

Chkalovsky provides air support for Star City, CIAlkowski Area, Yuri Gagarin Cosmonauts Training Center, and other elements of the Soviet space program and Russian Federal Space Agency. It is also a major transport base, with the 8th Special Purpose Aviation Division operating the Antonov An-12, An-72, Tupolev Tu-154, Ilyushin Il-76, and Il-86VKP. Chkalovsky received USSR's first Il-76K for "cosmonaut" training on 23 July 1977. On 27 March 1968, Yuri Gagarin and Vladimir Seryogin died in a MiG-15UTI that set off from this base, when it crashed near the town of Kirzhach.

The airport name is also given as Chkalovskoye. The facility should not be confused with Kaliningrad Chkalovsk or Omsk Chkalovsk airfields.

Is the runway ever used (say, to fly in new aircraft for display), or is it completely shut down?
