Understanding visa fees when planning travel to Saudi Arabia is essential as it directly impacts the overall cost of your trip. It is crucial to make sure you are financially prepared for your trip. The visa fee may vary based on several factors, including your nationality, the duration of your stay, and the type of visa you need for your trip. For example, the Saudi Arabia Family Visit Visa cost is different from the price of the KSA Residence Visa. Visa fees may change periodically due to updates in immigration policies. It is essential to check the official website of the Saudi Arabia embassy or consulate for your country to ensure you have the most accurate information.

You may also incur additional charges if you require expedited processing. If you require urgent visa processing due to last-minute travel plans or unforeseen circumstances, you will likely pay a significantly higher fee. It is essential to understand these charges to assess whether the urgency of your trip justifies the additional cost.

By being aware of the factors influencing visa fees, travelers can make informed decisions about the visa application, helping you to navigate the visa application process more effectively.

Moreover, applicants are generally clueless about the differences between electronic or e-visa costs according to their selected visa categories, such as single or multiple entries, standard or urgent processing, and tourist or business visa . We have answered all your queries on this page and comprehensively explained Saudi Arabia visa fees.

Cost of Saudi Arabia E-Visa?

The Saudi Arabia e-visa cost varies according to your nationality, purpose of travel, and processing duration.

Choose your Country

Visa service fee.

You can choose three options when applying for the e-visa through this website. that visa cost is calculated when applying for the e-visa. It will include a service fee, which is a standard expense that every visa applicant must pay regardless of applying online or through an embassy.

  • Rush: Visa costs 59.00 USD and issued within ( 1- 3 ) Working Days.
  • Super Rush: Visa costs 99.00 USD and issued within 24 Hours.

Please note: The Rush and Super Rush options are feasible for those who need a visa within a day or a few hours. The cost would naturally be higher for these categories.

The sooner you want a visa processed, the higher it will cost. To reduce the e-visa cost, you must apply at least seven days in advance and choose the standard processing option. This option is ideal for those on a budget. Please be informed that health insurance is necessary for every traveler. The visa cost may also include health insurance costs covering the entire length of your stay in Saudi Arabia.

Is Saudi Arabia E-Visa Pricey?

It is natural to believe that the Saudi Arabia online visa system would be costlier than the traditional paper visa system because of the involvement of a third-party travel agency.

Since you are applying through a website that will look after your visa application and send it over to the relevant authorities, additional costs must be involved.

However, that’s not the case because a standard sticker or paper visa would be pricier than an e-visa. If you want to apply the conventional way, there’s no other way to visit the Saudi Arabia consulate or embassy. If there is none, you must visit a visa facilitation center. There will be transportation expenses that you will have to bear as well as the process will be time-consuming since you will have to provide documentation and visit the bank to pay the visa fees. In the end , a paper visa would always be costlier than an e-visa.

On the other hand, there aren’t any travel expenses involved when applying through this website. All you need is an internet connection, mobile or laptop, and fifteen minutes of your time to complete the process. You don’t need to take out printouts of your passport or other documents, just upload their digital scans and pay the visa fees online. It takes no more than a few minutes to process the transaction to pay the visa fees.

The fees are much less than a regular paper visa . Although processing charges are involved, you get three different options to choose from, so it is possible to apply for the visa well in advance and avoid paying higher costs for an urgent visa.

Is My Financial Data Safe?

Absolutely yes; your financial data is never shared with any third party. In fact, we do not store your banking information. If you are a registered member, even then, you will have to re-enter your credit or debit card details every time you apply for an e-visa through this website.

Please check out the terms and conditions regarding financial data safety. Please be confident that all your personal or financial information is kept confidential, and it is safe to apply for an e-visa and pay the visa fees.

How Can I Pay the E-Visa Fees?

There are two ways to pay your e-visa fees: a debit card and a credit card . For both methods, you will need a valid and active payment card. We accept American Express, MasterCard, and Visa . You can use your PayPal account to process the fees if you don't have a payment card. Ensure you enter the correct card number or account details to avoid unnecessary complications. We guarantee that your financial data is never stored on our website.

Frequently Asked Questions

All international tourists, visitors, and pilgrims must obtain an e-visa before traveling to Saudi Arabia. Citizens of 49 countries are eligible to apply for an e-visa. All you have to do is select the right visa category, upload necessary travel documents, and pay the visa fees to apply for a tourist or umrah visa online.

The e-visa is an official travel document obtained by completing an online visa application. The visa, if approved, allows the applicant to enter the KSA once or multiple times . The single-entry visa is valid for 90 days , and the multiple entry visa is valid for 360 days .

E-visa holders with multiple-entry travel permits can stay for a maximum duration of 90 days , whereas the visa is valid for one year. The traveler cannot stay longer than three months or 90 days on each entry.

  • A valid passport with at least six months left in its expiration;
  • A scan of your recent passport-size photo;
  • An email address;
  • A debit/credit card to pay the visa fees.

If you have made a mistake on your e-visa application form and have already submitted it, there isn’t anything you can do about it. It is impossible to make changes to your visa application once submitted. If your visa gets rejected, the fee will not be refunded, and you will need to apply again to obtain a visa.

Saudi Visit Visa Fees And Costs in 2023

Here’s a simple cost breakdown for a Single-Entry Saudi Visit Visa in 2023:

  • Visa Fee: $106
  • Mandatory Health Insurance: $90
  • Total Cost: $190

It is important to note that the costs vary depending on the applicant’s nationality, detailed below.

Saudi Visit Visa Fee Structure

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia offers different types of visit visas, each with its own fee structure. The most common types are the family visit visa, business visit visa, and tourist visa. As of 2023, the basic visa fee for a single entry visa is around $133 (500 SAR), regardless of the type of visit visa. However, these costs can vary based on factors such as the applicant’s nationality, duration of stay, and the number of entries.

It’s essential to note that in addition to the visa fee, applicants are also required to pay for mandatory health insurance, which is approximately $90 (338 SAR). This insurance covers any emergency medical expenses during your stay in the Kingdom.

Cost Breakdown of the Saudi Visit Visa in 2023

The above costs are indicative and may vary slightly based on exchange rates, your nationality, and other factors.

Visa Fee Differences by Nationality in 2023

While the basic visa fee for Saudi visit visas is generally uniform for most applicants, certain nationalities may be subjected to different fees due to bilateral agreements between Saudi Arabia and their respective countries. For instance, citizens of countries that have mutual visa fee agreements with Saudi Arabia may be eligible for lower fees or even visa fee waivers in some cases.

Conversely, in some instances, fees might be higher for countries that have higher fees for Saudi citizens.

Here is the visa fee differences by nationality in 2023:

Hidden Costs of the Saudi Visit Visa Fees in 2023

While the visa and health insurance fees are the primary direct costs, there may be other indirect or ‘hidden’ costs that travelers should be aware of:

  • Currency Conversion Costs : Depending on your bank’s policies, a currency conversion fee might be applied when paying the visa fee in a currency other than Saudi Riyals. This fee usually ranges from 1-3% of the transaction amount.
  • Transaction Fees : Similarly, some banks may charge a transaction fee for online transactions. These fees can range from $1-$10, depending on your bank and the specific type of transaction.
  • Travel Insurance : In addition to the mandatory health insurance, travelers might opt for additional travel insurance for more comprehensive coverage. The cost of travel insurance can vary widely depending on the coverage level, but a basic plan might cost around $50 for a two-week trip.
  • Professional Assistance Fees : If you choose to use a visa application service or a travel agency to help with your application, their service fees will add to your overall costs. These fees can range anywhere from $50-$200, depending on the complexity of your application and the level of service provided.

Remember to account for these potential hidden costs when budgeting for your trip.

Cost of Visa Extension in Saudi Arabia

As of 2023, a Saudi visit visa can be extended up to the maximum stay duration indicated on the visa, usually not exceeding 180 days. The cost for extending a single entry visit visa is around 100 SAR ($26.66) per week.

Extensions must be applied for before the expiry of the current visa. To apply for an extension, one must visit the nearest Department of Passport office (Jawazat) in Saudi Arabia or apply online through the Ministry of Interior’s Absher platform.

Please be aware that visa extensions are not guaranteed and are granted at the discretion of the Saudi authorities. Therefore, it’s important not to rely solely on the possibility of an extension when planning your trip. Overstaying without a valid extension can lead to hefty fines and penalties.

What are the Payment Methods and Processing ?

The visa fee and insurance costs can be paid online through the Saudi government’s eVisa portal or through the Enjaz payment system. The payment options include credit/debit cards and bank transfers. Please be aware that depending on your bank’s policies, transaction fees may apply.

A Cost Comparison with Other Visas

To put the Saudi visit visa cost into perspective, you can compare it with the cost of visit visas for other popular destinations. For example, as of 2023, the U.S. tourist visa fee is $160, and the Schengen visa fee is €80 (around $95).

Therefore, Saudi Arabia’s visit visa fee of $190 (including mandatory health insurance) falls in the upper-middle range.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Avoiding certain common mistakes can save you from incurring additional costs:

  • Double-check all information : Any mistake in your visa application can lead to a rejection, which means reapplying and paying the fee again.
  • Check Passport Validity : Your passport must be valid for at least six months from your planned date of entry into Saudi Arabia.
  • Check the Visa Validity : Overstaying your visa can result in hefty fines.

Tips for Cost-Effective Practices

Being savvy about your visa application can help you avoid unnecessary costs. Here are some cost-effective practices:

  • Apply in Advance : Expedited visa processing usually comes at a premium. Avoid these extra fees by ensuring you apply for your visa well in advance of your planned travel dates.
  • Double-Check Your Application : A simple error on your application can lead to rejection, requiring you to reapply and pay the application fee again. Double-check all your information before submitting your application to avoid this unnecessary expense.
  • Choose the Right Visa : If you’re planning multiple visits to Saudi Arabia, consider applying for a multiple-entry visa instead of multiple single-entry visas. This could prove more cost-effective in the long run.

How to Gain Financial Support or Sponsorship

In certain cases, your visa costs might be covered by a third party. This is common for business travelers, students, and individuals visiting family members in Saudi Arabia. In such cases, your employer, educational institution, or family member might pay your visa fees.

You would typically need to provide documentation demonstrating their willingness and ability to cover your travel costs. This might include a letter from your employer or educational institution, a formal invitation from a family member, or similar official documentation.

It’s vital to clarify these requirements with the concerned parties and Saudi immigration authorities to ensure a seamless application process.

What are the Costs of Visa Overstays ?

Overstaying your visa can lead to substantial fines and penalties. In Saudi Arabia, the fine for overstaying a visit visa is around 10,000 SAR ($2,666) as of 2023. Additionally, overstaying can negatively impact your ability to obtain visas in the future.

Therefore, it’s crucial to keep track of your visa validity period and plan your travel accordingly to avoid these significant additional costs. Remember, it is always more cost-effective to adhere to visa rules and regulations than to face the consequences of violating them.

What is Saudi Arabia Family Visit Visa?

How to get a saudi arabia family visit visa, eligibility for saudi family visit visa, when you have this visa, documents required for saudi family visit visa, photo specification of saudi family visit visa, saudi family visit visa processing time, saudi family visit visa fee, how to check saudi family visit visa status, saudi arabia visit visa for indians - definitive guide.

With over 13 percent of the population in Saudi Arabia being Indians, Indians are bound to have family members living in the country. To visit your family living in the country, you will need a Family Visit Visa Saudi Arabia.

saudi arabia visit visa

For people other than those from the GCC countries, and from a few other visa-exempt nations, everyone requires a permit to enter the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. However, if you are visiting a first-degree family member, you can apply for a Saudi Family Visit Visa . Valid for a maximum of 90 days, or as per approval by the Ministry of External Affairs in Saudi. This permit allows you to visit the country for the purpose of meeting family, and thereby can even take part in tourism activities. The visa comes in the form of a vignette in your passport.

The process of applying for the family visit permit is quite different from other countries. The process although available online, for Indians, the mode is offline. Not just that, the Saudi embassy does not accept applications submitted directly. As a result, you will have to contact a travel agency to do it for you. Now before applying, ensure that you check the eligibility criteria for the visa. Once this is done, you may proceed to make the application as follows -

  • The first step involves collecting all the necessary documents required.
  • Once you have them, you can visit the MOFA Saudi website, and download the application form.
  • Proceed to fill in the form. You can either type it and take a print, or print it and write it by hand. You should also keep in mind to affix your photographs, and sign wherever necessary.
  • Pay the visa fees online to the travel agency. You cannot make direct payments to the embassy.
  • With the application form, attach the documents and send them to the Saudi Embassy via the travel agent.

Please ensure that you fill in the correct details and that you submit the original documents. Any wrong information or forged documents can lead to a visa rejection . A denied permit is considered as a black mark in your travel history.

To be able to apply for the visit permit, you will have to meet the following criteria -

  • You must hold a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure.
  • The family member you are visiting must be of the first degree such as children, parents, siblings, or also, spouse, in-laws, etc. You cannot apply for a family visit permit if they are your uncles, aunts, etc.
  • The person inviting you must hold a valid family visit visa invitation letter approved by the MOFA in Saudi Arabia.
  • The person inviting you must hold a valid Iqama (residence permit)
  • Your sole purpose of the visit must be to visit your family.

When you receive your visit permit, keep in mind the following key points to ensure a hassle-free journey -

  • Make a note of the vis expiry date. You will not be able to stay in the country beyond this period. If you do stay, it is considered a criminal offence, and you will be fined and deported.
  • You cannot engage in work activities while you are on a visit permit.
  • You must strictly abide by the rules and regulations of Saudi while you are in the country. You must also respect their culture and traditions.

The list of documents as per the Saudi family visit visa requirements , that are necessary for the application are mentioned as follows -

  • An original passport that is valid for at least 6 months from the date of travel. Any old passports need to be submitted as well
  • 2 photographs as per regulations.
  • Family Visit Visa Invitation letter approval from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, KSA
  • Copy of Iqama of the Sponsor
  • Passport copy of the sponsor
  • Travel insurance issued by the Saudi embassy as per your application
  • Proof of relationship with the relative inviting you.

Due to the lower volume of applications, the family visit permit is generally issued in about 4-5 working days. However, depending on a few factors such as the time taken to get the invitation approved, a higher volume of applications, season, etc, this may take longer to be approved.

The total fees depend on several factors such as the number of entries, service charges by the travel agency, etc. Since the fees can change without prior notice, it is necessary to confirm the amount before you make the application.

Once you have submitted your visa application, you will receive it back via your travel agent within the stipulated processing time. In the meanwhile, you can check your Saudi Family Visit Visa status by contacting the agency, or by emailing the embassy directly with your application number.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can i renew my family visit visa in saudi.

You cannot renew it, but you can definitely extend your visa easily. Unlike a lot of the other nations, the Saudi government accepts a visa extension request. In most cases, you can get an extension up to the total duration of your current permit. If the visa is of 90 days, you can get up to another 90 days. However, keep in mind that you will have to apply for it at least a week before your current visa expires and that you can only stay in the country for a maximum of 180 days as a visitor.

Can I Get a Family Visit Visa Without Documents Such as a Birth Certificate of the Child, Marriage Certificate, etc?

No, you cannot apply for it. A vital part of the documents required for the family visit permit is proof of the relationship. A birth certificate or the marriage certificate can be used to prove this. Without these, there is no evidence that the person you are visiting is your relative.

Can I Work in Saudi Arabia if I am On a Family Visitor Visa?

No, you definitely cannot. While you are on a visitor permit, you are strictly prohibited from working or engaging in work-related activities. The primary condition for which the visa is issued is that your purpose of visit is only to visit your relatives. You can also take part in sight-seeing and tourist activities while you are on this.

After Expiring My Saudi Arabia Family Visit Visa, How Long Can I Stay?

You cannot stay any longer after your visa is expired. You are expected to leave the country on or before the date of expiry. Staying back after the period is considered as an offence and you may face penal charges. However, you are free to apply for an extension if you want to stay in the country.

What is the Medical Test for Saudi Arabia Family Visit Visa?

Since it is a short term permit, there is no requirement of a mandatory medical test. However, for the long-stay permit such as the family visa, you require a medical check-up to be done. Either way, it is suggested that you get a health checkup done before travelling to any country for the sake of your own safety.

Can I Convert My Saudi Arabia Family Visa into a Work Permit?

No, the short term visas cannot be converted into another type. Once your visa expires, you will have to leave the country. However, if you wish to get a work permit, you can apply for jobs in the KSA and find a sponsor. Then, once you return back to your home country after the visit permit expires, you can apply for a new work permit.
