I Depeche Mode , una delle band più amate di tutti i tempi, tornano in Italia dopo il successo delle date estive negli stadi per tre imperdibili appuntamenti del Memento Mori World Tour 2024 :

I Depeche Mode sono uno dei gruppi musicali più iconici ed influenti della scena rock e new wave di sempre con oltre 100 milioni di dischi venduti in tutto il mondo. La band si è formata a Basildon (Regno Unito) nel 1980 ed è composta attualmente da Dave Gahan (voce) e Martin Gore (chitarra e tastiere).

I Depeche Mode hanno esordito nel 1980 con il singolo Photographic pubblicato all’interno della compilation Some Bizarre Album contenente brani di artisti emergenti. Photographic è stato seguito da Dreaming Of Me e New Life prodotti insieme a Daniel Miller che ottengono un buon riscontro commerciale e molti passaggi in radio.

Grazie a questo successo i Depeche Mode ottengono la possibilità di pubblicare il loro primo album Speak & Spell contenente la hit Just Can’t Get Enough che ha fatto conoscere la band in tutto il mondo. Il brano è inoltre incluso nella lista delle 100 Migliori Canzoni Pop secondo Rolling Stone e nella classifica delle 100 migliori canzoni degli anni ’80 di VH1 .

Nel corso della loro carriera i Depeche Mode hanno pubblicato quattordici album in studio diventando uno dei gruppi più rappresentativi della storia della musica britannica. Dal 2020 i Depeche Mode fanno inoltre parte della Rock and Roll Hall of Fame . Tra i brani più iconici della band inglese troviamo Personal Jesus , Enjoy The Silence , Precious , Policy of Truth , People Are People e Strangelove .

Memento Mori, il nuovo album dei Depeche Mode

I Depeche Mode avevano qualcosa da nascondere da tempo. Lo scorso agosto, infatti, era stato diffuso uno scatto che ritraeva il frontman e cantante Dave Gahan e il principale autore dei testi dei DM Martin Gore in studio dietro al banco del mix mentre lavoravano a nuova musica a distanza di mesi dalla prematura scomparsa del tastierista Andy Fletcher il 26 maggio scorso con la seguente caption:

Trovare stabilità in ciò che conosciamo e amiamo e concentrarci su ciò che dà significato e scopo alla vita .

Troppo presto se n’è andato all’età di 60 anni il membro fondatore dei Depeche Mode, nonché cantante prima dell’ingresso di Dave Gahan nella band con l’album Speak & Spell (1981). Entrato nella Rock and Roll of Fame insieme ai Depeche Mode nel 2020, Andy Fletcher è stato l’ancora pop della nave dei DM, spesso attraversata dalle intemperie creative e non di Martin Gore e Dave Gahan:

Il mio contributo è l’elemento pop. Martin ama il blues e il country, Dave ha scoperto il jazz. Io probabilmente sarò eternamente fedele alla semplicità delle melodie pop e alla leggerezza che trasmettono. Il pop piace anche ai miei figli.

Gli spoiler dagli account social ufficiali dei Depeche Mode e i manifesti comparsi successivamente in giro per l’Europa avevano fatto intuire che il nuovo album sarebbe uscito presto.

Memento Mori , dal latino “ricordati che devi morire”, è il 15esimo album in studio dei Depeche Mode e il seguito dell’acclamato  Spirit  (2017), che ha raggiunto la #1 in 11 Paesi classificandosi nella Top 5 in più di altri 20, ed è stato infatti pubblicato il 24 marzo 2023 .

Martin Gore aveva commentato così la genesi di Memento Mori:

Abbiamo iniziato a lavorare a questo progetto all’inizio della pandemia e i suoi temi sono stati direttamente ispirati da quel periodo. Dopo la morte di Fletch, abbiamo deciso di continuare perché siamo sicuri che questo è ciò che avrebbe voluto, e questo ha davvero dato al progetto un ulteriore livello di significato.

A proposito del nuovo album dei Depeche Mode, Dave Gahan aveva aggiunto:

Fletch avrebbe adorato questo album. Non vedo l’ora di condividerlo presto con voi e di presentarvelo dal vivo agli show del prossimo anno.

Memento Mori si è rivelato ritorno a  sonorità più vicine a quelle  degli inizi ,  più cupe ed elettroniche , in stile Depeche Mode ma anche Kraftwerk e Joy Division, i Depeche Mode hanno lavorato riallacciandosi idealmente a  Black Celebration , pietra miliare della loro discografia del 1986. Anche  la tematica  che aleggia dal titolo alle tracce,  la mortalità , appunto, è frutto di un’epoca inquieta da esorcizzare con vibrazioni profonde e ritmiche avvolgenti.

Memento Mori è stato anticipato dai singoli Ghosts Again e My Cosmos Is Mine. I Depeche Mode, inoltre, hanno dato un assaggio dei loro concerti al pubblico italiano durante il Festival di Sanremo 2023, quando si sono esibiti come ospiti durante la serata finale con la nuova canzone Ghosts Again, cantata per la prima volta live sul palco del Teatro Ariston, e la loro mitica Personal Jesus.

signori, dico solo questo: il concerto di TORINO è stato STRAORDINARIO ... A momenti veniva giù il palazzetto tanto dal CASINO fatto 😂😂😂 Momenti salienti: un CAMPO di grano avvolgente ancora più delle scorse volte; Dave ha cantato "Happy Birthday" ad una "devota" in prima fila vicino alla passerella ed è stato un momento davvero bello; Dave si è strusciato sull'asta di continuo accanto ai "devoti" in "Policy of Truth", demarcando, quindi, che anche a 60 anni il fascino, la sensualità e la provocazione "elegante" non ti abbandonano. O ci nasci o ci nasci ... E lui ci è nato eccome!!! Immancabile l'omaggio allo "zio" Fletch, toccante come al solito e sempre con noi. La scaletta è stata fantastica. Hanno inserito Favourite Stranger e Black Celebration, roba che all'INALPI ha fatto PAURA. Martin e Dave erano carichissimi come e più di noi, ci hanno preso a pallettoni musicali facendoci interagire di continuo nei brani ... e quanto se la ridevano ... si divertivano un mondo ... Insomma, inizio già ad essere in crisi d'astinenza e non solo io ... difatti sto pensando di creare una PETIZIONE per richiedergli un nuovo tour a stretto giro 🤩🤩🤩 Anche perché le emozioni, i brividi, l'adrenalina a picchi altissimi e smisurati e la felicità che ci hanno fatto vivere con i loro brani e la loro performance di livello più che altissimo, infinito, sono state incontenibili e indescrivibili ... motivo per il quale già ne sentiamo l'assenza. I DEPECHE MODE sono e restano di un altro pianeta e con questo SPETTACOLO STRAORDINARIO si sono confermati tali!!! 🖤❤️🔥🔥🔥🌹👑👑👑👑👑 #dm #depechemode #devotaforever

Depeche Mode – Memento Mori World Tour 2023

Depeche Mode will perform on Friday, July 14, 2023, starting with 9.00 pm, at the Meazza Stadium, in Milan , as part of their Memento Mori World Tour 2023 .

Depeche Mode was formed in Basildon, Essex, in 1980. The band currently consists of Dave Gahan (lead vocals, songwriting) and Martin Gore (keyboards, guitar, vocals, songwriting), after Andy Fletcher (keyboard) died on May 26, 2022.

The band released their debut album, Speak & Spell , in 1981. One year later, they released A Broken Frame , and in 1983 their third studio album, Construction Time Again . Black Celebration was released in 1986, and Music for the Masses in 1987, establishing them as a dominant force within the electronic music scene.

In 1990, Depeche Mode released Violator , an international mainstream success. The following album, Songs of Faith and Devotion , was released in 1993, Ultra in 1997, and Exciter in 2001. Their eleventh studio album, Playing the Angel , was released in 2005, Sounds of the Universe appeared in 2009, and Delta Machine in 2013.

Their last album to date, Spirit , was released in 2017. Memento Mori , the upcoming fifteenth studio album of the band, is set to be released in March 2023.

The band had 54 songs in the UK Singles Chart and 17 Top 10 albums in the UK chart. They sold more than 100 million records worldwide. Depeche Mode was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2020.

The Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, commonly known as San Siro, is a football stadium in Milan, the home of AC Milan and Internazionale. The stadium has a seating capacity of 80,018, making it one of the largest stadiums in Europe, and the largest in Italy .

The closest Metro station is San Siro Stadio , on the Metro Line M5. The closest bus stop is near the Metro station, and it can be reached with the bus Lines 49, 64, 78 and 80. The closest tram stop, with the same name, is located about 280 meters away from the stadium, on the tram Line 16.

Il 23 marzo 2024 al Pala Alpitour di Torino debutta il tour italiano 2024 dei Depeche Mode  ( qui date e biglietti) che poi proseguirà con due concerti al Forum di Assago- di Milano. Per immaginare la probabile scaletta dei concerti analizziamo tutte le informazioni che abbiamo a disposizione.

Quanto dura il concerto dei Depeche Mode

In quell’occasione fu intornato anche un Happy Birthday per una fan, mentre Behind the Wheel  viene dedicata al compianto Andrew Fltcher. Quattro i bis, aperti da Condemnation in versione acustica.

Giovedì 23 marzo a Sacramento, capitale della California, è andata in scena la data zero mondiale del tour 2023 della band. Con qualche sorpresa, come A Question of Lust , e soprattutto nei bis Waiting for the Night , che non veniva suonata live da oltre vent’anni.

World in My Eyes è stata dedicata al compianto Andy Fletcher, mentre  del nuovo album Memento Mori sono state eseguite My Cosmos Is Mine e Wagging Tongue (in apertura) più altri tre brani. Quattro i bis di chiusura con finale classico con l’anthem Personal Jesus.

Pioneering synth-pop band Depeche Mode have sold over 100 million albums and played to over 35 million fans worldwide. Depeche Mode was formed in 1980 by Andy Fletcher, singer Dave Gahan and keyboardists Martin Gore and Vince Clarke. The band released their U.S. breakthrough in 1984 with the platinum-certified album Some Great Reward , which included iconic songs such as “Master and Servant” and the Billboard Hot 100 Top 20 hit “People Are People.” By the ’90s, Depeche Mode became one of the most popular bands of the alternative music boom. Outstanding.

Seeing Depeche Mode again was on my bucket list. It was everything I hoped it would be and now seeing them again is back on the top of my bucket list! I really hope they tour again in The USA. This Venue was great also! We drove to Miami from South Carolina.

Best concert I have ever been to, I’ve seen depeche three other times and many other bands, but they were absolutely on fire this tour. A good mix of songs. Just fantastic!

Still the best band EVER!!! Thank you for the special Martin Gore solos of “Home” and “But Not Tonight” - two of my personal favorites. Depeche Mode is amazing and timeless. 🙏 🎶 🖤

Depechemode Best Band in the Universe

There is no doubt that Depechemode concerts surpass not only my expectation but all the Devotees. There is not one concert that they did not play with all their heart ❤️and soul. Their emotion, inspiration, Devotees singing alone with the band makes us feel all so special. Dave moves makes you dream of him. If I had to make a wish, just one wish would be to meet my favorite band of the world and universe , Depeche Mode. A wish to talk to each of them and get to know them as human beings not as the Idols they are. Forever DepecheMode in my Heart ❤️

Depeche Mode live is a must!

I've been to tons of concerts but October 15 2023 Depeche Mode was by far the best show I've ever attended or will attend!

Depeche Mode does it again!

I have been going to all their concerts since the Rose Bowl Music for the Masses in 1988. This one beat my expectations, they threw a show for us to remember. I look forward to their next.

Depeche Mode’s new album is called ‘ Memento Mori ‘, the first since the sudden death last May of the band’s other member Andy Fletcher. The 15th career album for the British band , ‘Memento Mori’ will be released in spring 2023. Martin Gore and Dave Gahan’s band will also present the album live on a tour that will start with dates in North America on 23 March, before coming to Europe on 16 May . The European tour will start in Amsterdam and will also stop in Italy for three dates: 12 July at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, 14 July at the San Siro Stadium in Milan and 16 July at the Stadio dall’Ara in Bologna. The ‘Memento Mori Tour’ will be the 19th for Depeche Mode, the first in over five years, while their last tour was the ‘Global Spirit Tour’.

Depeche Mode Announce 29 Additional North American Dates on the Memento Mori World Tour

New Fall Shows Added in the US, Canada and Mexico

Depeche mode’s first tour in over five years kicks off march 23, 2023 in sacramento, ca.

Following the rapturous reception to their new single “Ghosts Again,”  Depeche Mode  have added a new Fall leg of North American tour dates to the Memento Mori Tour, which will support Memento Mori, their forthcoming studio album due out March 24. With the addition of these 29 new shows, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2020 inductees will now set out on a colossal 75-date tour — their 19th tour and their first in over five years.

The Live Nation-presented tour begins March 23 with a limited North American run featuring stops at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Chicago’s United Center, and Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena. The band will then embark on their European stadium tour on May 16, with noted stops including the Stade de France in Paris, Berlin’s Olympic Stadium, Milan’s San Siro Stadium, and London’s Twickenham Stadium. 

Following the end of the European summer run, the newly added tour dates bring the band back to North America in the Fall, with the tour stopping in Mexico City at Foro Sol before returning to the US and Canada. Newly announced tour stops include Austin’s Moody Center, Vancouver’s Rogers Arena, additional New York City shows at Madison Square Garden and Barclays Center, Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena and more, and concluding with a multi-night run in Los Angeles at the Kia Forum and Crypto.com Arena.

Pre-sales will kick off with a Fan Pre-sale on Tuesday, February 21, with the general on sale beginning Friday, February 24 at 10am local time. On the Memento Mori Tour, the band will once again be partnering with luxury watchmaker Hublot to support charity endeavors tied to the tour.

Reception to the Memento Mori tour has been overwhelming with shows quickly selling out across Europe and North America, and over 1.5 million tickets already sold for the initial 46 shows. The tour is on track to be one of Depeche Mode’s largest to date and is also well on its way to being one of the largest worldwide tours of 2023. The tour will feature Depeche Mode favorites and rarities, alongside new songs from Memento Mori, including the new single ”Ghosts Again,” which has been heralded as “a melancholic and joyful ode” (Vulture), “hypnotic” (Rolling Stone), and “a gorgeous, haunting song” (Revolver). The beautifully stark and cinematic Anton Corbijn-directed video for “Ghosts Again” released on February 9th can be viewed at  https://depechemode.lnk.to/GhostsAgain .
