Philippine Standard Time

Visa information.

A Philippine Visa is an endorsement made on a travel document by a consular officer at a Philippine Embassy or Consulate abroad denoting that the visa application has been properly examined and that the bearer is permitted to proceed to the Philippines and request permission from the Philippine Immigration authorities at the ports of entries to enter the country.

The visa thus issued is not a guarantee that the holder will be automatically admitted into the country, because the admission of foreign nationals into the Philippines is a function of the immigration authorities at the port of entry.

Definition of a Foreign Tourist (Temporary Visitor)

A “foreign tourist” is defined as a person without distinction as to race, gender, language or religion, who is proceeding o the Philippines for a legitimate, nonimmigrant purpose such as sightseeing, sports, health, family reasons, training or study (excluding enrollment in schools for the purpose of obtaining a title or degree), religious pilgrimage, business, cultural and scientific purposes.

Standard Procedure/Minimum Requirements for applying a Temporary Visitor’s Visa

Application for a temporary visitor’s visa must be made in person. In the case of a minor under eighteen (18) years of age, the application may be made for him by a person who, in the opinion of the consular officer, is responsible for his/her welfare. The minor, not an infant in arms, shall be required to appear at the Consulate for interview, together with the person making the application for him/her.

Applicants for temporary visitor’s visa should normally apply at the Philippine Embassy or Consulate that has jurisdiction over their place of residence. While some visa applicants may apply at any Philippine Embassy or Consulate abroad, others are only allowed to apply his/her visa at the Philippine Embassy or Consulate in his country of origin or legal residence.

The following are the minimum requirements for applying a temporary visitor’s visa:

  • Passport/Travel Document Valid for at least six (6) months beyond the intended period of stay in the Philippines;
  • Duly Accomplished Visa application forms;
  • Passport Photos (2 pieces);

  • Clear photocopy of the data page of the child’s passport;
  • Clear photocopy of the data page of the passport of the accompanying adult or guardian; and
  • Payment of immigration fees (currently, P3,120 per child).
  • Nationality/Citizenship;
  • Passport details of the crew;
  • Vessel to be used for entry: type, name, registration, call sign, and other particulars;

  • List of equipment to be brought by each team member, with certification from the media organization that said equipment will be re-exported at the end of the trip to the Philippines;
  • Flight details (arrival and departure); and
  • For each team member, one (1) photograph, sixe 1″x1″, to be submitted to the International Press Center (IPC) for the issuance of accreditation card.
  • Letter request;
  • Certificate of Acceptance from the school accredited by the Bureau of Immigration to accept foreign students;
  • Photocopy of passport reflecting the applicant’s authorized period of stay;
  • Affidavit of Support and Proof of Financial Capacity; and
  • Birth Certificate.

Extension of Authorized Period of stay in the Philippines

In case of a temporary visitor’s visa holder whose stay in the Philippines will exceed the authorized period of stay, he/she will have to report to the Bureau of Immigration, secure an extension of stay and pay the corresponding immigration fees. Information on fees for extension of stay and other Immigration fees are available at the Bureau of Immigration website ( www.immigration.gov.ph ).

Philippines Tourist Visa

Visitor visa requirements for philippines, what is a philippines tourist visa.

A Philippines tourist visa is a travel permit granted to a foreign passport holder by a consular officer at a Philippine Embassy or Consulate.

A traveler visa for the Philippines will be issued after the visa application has been properly examined.

The Philippines visitor visa (another way to indicate a tourist permit) is an entry requirement for citizens of several countries. A tourist visa holder can travel to the Philippines and present their documents at any port of entry.

However, the visa issued is not a guarantee that its holder will be automatically admitted into the country. The final decision is up to the immigration officers at the border.

According to the Philippines government, a “foreign tourist” is defined as a person who is reaching the Philippines for a legitimate, non-immigrant purpose such as sightseeing, sports, health, visiting family, training or short-term study (excluding enrollment in a school in the Philippines to pursue a title or degree) religious pilgrimage, business, cultural and scientific activities.

Standard Procedure Requirement for a Tourist Visa

Foreigners who need a tourist visa for the Philippines must apply in person at an embassy or consulate. Applications for minors may be made for them by a parent or guardian.

The minor, with the exception of an infant in arms, will also be required to assist an interview at a Philippines mission along with the person who has presented the application on their behalf.

  • Passport /travel document (alongside a photocopy of the same) valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended period of stay in the Philippines
  • Fully completed visa application forms (incomplete forms will be rejected)
  • Passport-size photo of the traveler taken within the previous 6 months , with the applicant’s signature attached to the front of the picture
  • Photocopy of a travel itinerary for return or onward journey to the next port of destination.

philippines tourist visa philippines

Applicants will also need a valid payment method to cover the visa fees .

Other document requirements for a visit visa

Additionally, all visa applicants are required to supply proof of sufficient funds to cover the stay in the Philippines. For example:

  • Print-out of last credit card/bank account statement
  • Deed of ownership of real estate property

Other documents showing the applicant’s ability to financially support themselves while in the Philippines may also be accepted. Please note that it is necessary to supply two or more of these types of documents .

In order to determine whether a visa can be issued, the visa officer can request additional documents at their own discretion.

Do I Need a Travel Visa for the Philippines?

Whether one needs a Philippines visitor visa or not will depend primarily on their country of citizenship. Several nationalities can travel to the Philippines visa-free if the stay does not exceed 30 days . Extending a stay in the Philippines is also possible for a fee.

Taiwanese visitors need an electronic travel authorization (eTA) for the Philippines . The eTA for the Philippines can be easily obtained by completing an online form with the applicant’s personal details and passport information.

Those who need a tourist visa for the Philippines from an embassy can choose the type of visa depending on the length of validity and number of entries the traveler requires, either:

  • Single entry valid for 3 months
  • Multiple entry valid for 6 months
  • Multiple entry valid for 12 months

However, all of these embassy visitor visas allow a total stay of 59 days in the Philippines , regardless of the number of entries or period of validity.

How can I get the Philippines Online Tourist Visa?

As outlined above, tourists from several countries do not need to obtain a tourist visa, while others must apply in person at the nearest embassy or consulate.

Eligible applicants can obtain an eTa to visit the Philippines completely online . The application only takes minutes and the only documents required are:

  • The application form completed in all of its parts
  • Digital copies of the eligible passport

Additionally, applicants need to have to pay the application fee using a method authorized for online payments (credit/debit card) in order to submit their eTA form.

What We Offer

From visa application to compilation of documents, our team of immigration consultants and visa specialists offers end-to-end visa processing services to guide you through the necessary steps and procedures in securing the appropriate type of visa for your stay in the Philippines.

The Types of Visas for Foreign Nationals in the Philippines

As previously mentioned, the Philippine Bureau of Immigration (BI) offers over 20 kinds of visas which are divided into three categories:

  • Section 9 Visas or Non-Immigrant Visas. For foreign nationals who wish to stay in the Philippines temporarily
  • Section 13 Visas or Immigrant Visas. For foreign nationals who wish to stay permanently in the Philippines
  • Special Visas. For qualified foreign nationals belonging to the demographic groups granted special entry privileges through legislation or presidential proclamations

Depending on the country of origin, foreign nationals may enter the Philippines without a visa for visits of up to 30 days. However, foreigners who are planning to acquire work, residency, retirement, and similar activities in the Philippines are required to secure the appropriate visa for their stay.

Commonly Issued Visas to Foreign Nationals in the Philippines

Work visas, tourist visas, and special investor’s visas are a few of the many visas offered in the Philippines, each with their own subcategory to further specify and cater to your travel needs.  To give you a general idea, here are the most commonly issued visas to foreign nationals who plan to work, visit, or invest in the Philippines.

Work Visas in the Philippines

There are four work visas in the Philippines, namely:

  • 9(g) Pre-Arranged Employee Commercial Visa
  • 9(g) Pre-Arranged Employee Non-Commercial Visa
  • Special Non-Immigrant Visa or 47(a)(2)
  • Special Non-Immigrant Visa under E.O. 226, as amended by R.A. 8756 (ROHQ)

Foreign nationals who wish to engage in gainful employment must secure either one of these visas, depending on their employment needs. Moreover, applicant must also obtain a work permit as part of their work visa application in the Philippines.

9(g) or Pre-Arranged Employee Commercial Visa

The 9(g) or Pre-Arranged Employee Commercial Visa is the most common work visa issued to foreign nationals that are seeking gainful employment in the Philippines. This visa grants the holder multiple entry and exit privileges during their employment with a registered company in the country.

Applicants must submit the following documents to BI when applying for a work visa:

  • Checklist with accomplished documentary requirements
  • Duly accomplished Consolidated General Application Form (CGAF) for Non-Immigrant Visa
  • Additional information on the applicant’s children/dependents (if applicable)
  • Notarized certification of the number of foreigners and Filipino employees of Employer/Company

Additionally, your hiring company must serve as your petitioner for the visa. Prior to applying for a 9(g) visa, you will need to obtain an Alien Employment Permit (AEP) to work as a non-tourist in the Philippines.

Visitor or Tourist Visas in the Philippines

Foreign nationals who wish to travel to the Philippines for vacation or leisure purposes are required to obtain a tourist or visitor visa. However, some nationalities who come from select country of origin may enter the country without needing to acquire a visa.

Temporary Visitor’s Visa

The Philippines have two categories for tourists or visitors coming into the country: restricted foreign nationals and unrestricted foreign nationals. Restricted foreign nationals who wish to temporarily enter the country for leisure, business, or medical purposes must secure a 9(a) or Temporary Visitor’s Visa . On the other hand, unrestricted foreign nationals may enter the Philippines without a visa for a duration of 30 to 59 days, depending on their country of origin.

Applicants must present the following documents when applying for a visitor’s visa:

  • Passport/Travel Document valid for at least six (6) months beyond the intended period of stay in the Philippines;
  • Duly Accomplished visa application forms;
  • Passport Photos (2 pieces);
  • Proof of bona fide status as tourist or businessman;
  • Confirmed tickets for return or onward journey to the next port of destination; and
  • Payment of Visa Fees

Additionally, 9(a) visa applications require foreign nationals to apply personally at the Philippine Embassy or Consulate that has jurisdiction over their place of residence.

Special Visas in the Philippines

Foreign nationals seeking to stay indefinitely in the Philippines, whether for work, investment, or retirement purposes, can apply for special visas. There are three special visas issued in the Philippines:

  • Special Investor’s Resident Visa (SIRV)
  • Special Visa for Employment Generation (SVEG)
  • Special Resident Retiree’s Visa (SRRV).

Depending on the purpose of your stay, BI will require different documentary requirements for each type of special visa. SRRV has a minimum age requirement of 50 years old and above.

“My husband and I just got back from LA. We got caught in the rally at Tom Bradley airport that delayed us for over an hour and we are just thankful for the travel arrangements made by Travelpros, they had our seats secured. Not only that, they also managed our booking in a way that even when my husband changed his departure date, we still managed to get his ticket at the same price! Bow kami sa inyo, Travelpros!”

Darling de Jesus-Bodegon / VP - Business Development Dept/Entertainment TV Group, GMA Network

“This is to share our recent Tokyo tour experience. Our trip was unplanned knowing that visiting Japan will require a visa which most would consider a tedious process. Thanks to UHI and partner agencies particularly TravelPros for promoting “GUARANTEED TOURIST VISA, NO FINANCIAL DOCUMENTS NEEDED” that allow Filipinos to visit a favorite destination. Travel Pros staff at SM Fairview provided the initial information regarding my inquiry. They were all helpful and accomodating to their clients. I commend Christine for her extra mile customer service that enabled us to join the May 16 to 19 group. It was then less than a month for us to prepare but we were able to do it.

On May 12, they gathered tour joiners for lunch in a restaurant in Makati for a pre departure briefing. It gave us the opportunity for questions and clarifications. Likewise had a chance to meet other joiners and our tour leaders from the agency. This made our entire tour organized and fulfilling.

Our experienced with JAL (for our group) was great. Food, flight stewards and services were above expectations. Shinjuku Washington Hotel made our stay in Japan a real Wow! Buffet breakfast was really good and there are other restaurants to choose from within the hotel as alternative. Room is not that big but adequate enough, room service, staff, cleanliness and amenities made our stay pleasant. Lunch and dinner included in the package in local restaurants were good as well although some joiners were not satisfied on our last dinner which they served ramen. For me, its okay since they could have thought of it for variation of food.

Our Japanese tour guide and tour leaders coordinated themselves well making sure that whats in the itenerary are followed. Though we didn’t get the chance to try their local train as specified in the flyer instead rode a bus to go from one place to another. A large group like ours may be the reason for some changes. Anyway, not a big deal for not able to experience the train ride.

The experience was awesome in general and I definitely recommend this to first time visitors to Japan. The tour cost of 988usd can be considered a little expensive but my take on this is that….its worth it! If I am to rate my overall Japan tour experience in a scale of 1 to 10 and 10 being the highest, I give it a 9.

Thank you for making this happen Travel Pros.”

Are you from the Philippines and planning a trip to the United States? Filipino nationals looking to travel to the U.S. for temporary tourism or business purposes must first obtain a B-1/B-2 travel visa in order to enter the country.

In this guide, we’ll cover how to apply for a U.S. tourist visa from the Philippines, what steps to take, and other helpful tips for Filipino applicants .

Want more information on travel visa costs, processing times, and requirements? We can help. Learn more about what Boundless can do to help.

Charmay, from the Philippines

Start planning your immigration journey today with Boundless.

Filing form ds-160.

The first step in the travel visa process for every Filipino applicant is filing Form DS-160 (Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application). Form DS-160, filed online, requests basic information about the applicant’s life in the Philippines, their intended trip to the U.S., and any past immigration history.

You can learn more about filing Form DS-160 in Boundless’ guide , including what questions to expect and how the online submission process works.

Travel Visa Costs

When filing the DS-160, all applicants are required to pay a $185 government filing fee. The fee must be paid upfront. Filipino applicants can pay by one of the following payment methods :

  • Paying by cash at a bank: Print out a deposit slip, make the $185 payment in a Bank of Philippine Islands (BPI), and save the payment slip/receipt to bring to your visa appointment later in the process.
  • Paying online: You can pay the $185 filing fee online if you are a client of Bank of Philippine Islands (BPI) or using the online platform PesoNet .

You can find more details about completing your travel visa application payment on the U.S. government’s website here .

Embassy Information

All nonimmigrant visa applications filed in the Philippines (including tourist visa applications) are processed at the U.S. Embassy in Manila :

U.S. Embassy in Manila

1201 Roxas Boulevard

Manila, Philippines 1000

(+63) 2 5301-2000

Scheduling Your Appointment

After you’ve filed your travel visa application, the next step is to schedule your visa appointment at the U.S. Embassy in Manila. In order to schedule your appointment, you’ll need your DS-160 confirmation page and fee payment receipt, to prove you have a pending tourist visa application.

Appointment availability at the U.S. Embassy in Manila fluctuates, depending on demand at the time you are applying and the current visa backlog. The embassy recommends that travel visa applicants start the application process well in advance of their intended travel dates to the U.S. to avoid long appointment wait times.

You can calculate your estimated appointment wait time on the State Department’s official appointment tracker . As of March 2023, the current wait time for a B visa appointment at the U.S. Embassy in Manila is 144 calendar days .

Preparing for the Travel Visa Interview

Once you’ve scheduled your visa appointment, it’s time to prepare for your travel visa interview!

The visa interview can feel like the most stressful part of the tourist visa process, but you don’t have to go through the process on your own. We’ve put together a helpful guide on how to prepare for your travel visa interview with confidence and compiled a list of common interview questions to practice from.

Tips for Tourist Visa Approval

Now that you’ve read up on the travel visa process, is there anything you can do to increase your chances of getting approved? Boundless put together some helpful tips on how to strengthen your B1/B2 application and navigate all of the tricky travel visa requirements. Check them out here !

Travel Insurance

Once your travel visa is approved and you’re starting to plan your trip, you may want to consider purchasing travel insurance for your time in the U.S. Healthcare in the U.S. is notoriously expensive, so temporary travel insurance plans can help reduce any emergency medical costs. Travel insurance can also alleviate the financial burden of travel mishaps, such as lost luggage, flight delays, and more.

Flying Into the U.S.

You’ve booked your flight and packed your bags — what’s next? Getting through the U.S. airport smoothly! If it’s your first time flying to the U.S., be sure to read up on what to expect for security protocols, U.S. customs, and required documents before boarding your flight.

Want more U.S. immigration help? Check out Boundless’ Philippines-specific visa guide for everything you need to know.

Why Choose a Travel Agency in the Philippines?

Travel agencies play a crucial role in crafting memorable travel experiences. They possess the local know-how, connections, and resources to make your trip effortless and enjoyable. Let’s delve into why you should consider a travel agency for your next Filipino adventure.

Benefits of Using a Travel Agency

Time and Effort Savings: The travel agencies take the hassle out of planning. From booking flights and accommodations to arranging transportation and sightseeing activities, they handle it all. This allows you to save time and avoid stress, letting you focus solely on enjoying the experience.

Customized Experiences: Travel agencies can tailor trips according to your preferences. Whether you prefer adventurous outdoor activities or tranquil beach holidays, they can create a personalized itinerary that fits your travel style perfectly.

Insider Knowledge: Travel agencies have in-depth knowledge of the local scene. They can recommend lesser-known attractions, off-the-beaten-track locations, and unique cultural experiences that you might otherwise miss.

Personal Anecdotes or Examples

Let me share a personal experience. On my trip to the Philippines, I enlisted the services of a local travel agency. What struck me was their attention to detail and personal touch. They suggested a visit to the Chocolate Hills in Bohol, an attraction I hadn’t heard of before.

Chocolate Hills in Bohol, Philippines

The sight of over a thousand symmetrical, grass-covered limestone mounds, turning chocolate brown in the dry season, was surreal. Without the agency’s local insight, I would have missed out on this mesmerizing spectacle.

Safety and Risk Management

Travel agencies can also provide peace of mind regarding safety. In unfamiliar territories, unforeseen situations can arise. Whether it’s a sudden change of weather at a beach resort or an unexpected closure of an attraction due to maintenance, travel agencies can navigate these disruptions. They have contingency plans in place and can swiftly provide alternative arrangements to ensure your trip remains smooth. This is especially valuable in a diverse country like the Philippines, where each island offers a unique set of attractions, cultures, and climates.

Travel Safety

The content herein is based on my personal experiences and insights gained over the years. It’s important to remember that each person’s travel needs and preferences are unique, and what works for one might not work for another. That’s where the versatility and flexibility of travel agencies shine, and why I consider them a valuable ally in my journeys.

Keys to Consider When Choosing Travel Agencies in the Philippines

Tour operators remain responsible for their services. Although their roles sometimes overlap with travel agents, they can market directly to customers. Similarly, travel agents can curate and promote their own packages to clients. Making the right choice of a travel agency can be the difference between a memorable trip and an unfortunate experience. Here are a few factors to consider when selecting a travel agency in the Philippines.

Travel Agencies in the Philippines

Travel Safety

Safety is paramount when traveling. A reliable travel agency should have a strong focus on traveler’s safety, providing useful advice, and ensuring that all services, including transportation and accommodations, meet safety standards. They should also have a swift response mechanism for any emergencies that may arise during your trip.

Expertise with Local Knowledge

A travel agency’s local expertise is another crucial factor to consider. This includes understanding the best times to visit various destinations, knowing the local customs and culture, and having access to local resources. An agency with strong local knowledge can provide an authentic and enriching travel experience that you might not get by planning the trip on your own.

Convenience

Convenience plays a big role in enhancing your overall travel experience. Look for an travel agent that provides a seamless experience, from inquiry and booking to trip execution. This might include things like an easy-to-navigate website, convenient payment methods, a responsive customer service team, and personalized services that cater to your specific needs and preferences.

Range of Services Offered

The range of services offered by the travel agent is another important factor. A full-service agency that can handle all aspects of your trip, including airfare, accommodation, tours, transport, and even visa assistance, can save you a lot of time and hassle.

Price and Value for Money

While price is an important factor, the cheapest option may not always provide the best value. Consider what’s included in the package and assess if it offers good value for your money. A slightly pricier package that includes all services, offers great experiences, and ensures your safety might provide better value in the long run.

Navigating the Online Presence of Travel Agencies

With the internet being a major source of information, it’s important to evaluate a travel agency’s online presence.

Navigating the Online Presence of Travel Agencies in the Philippines

Hotel and Resorts Reservations Vacation Packages to Asia

Check out the agency’s online platforms for their vacation packages. Look for details about hotel and resort reservations in the Philippines and other Asian countries. Read through descriptions, check the inclusions, compare prices, and review terms and conditions. User reviews can also provide helpful insights.

International Tour Packages

If you’re a resident of the Philippines looking for outbound travel options, check the agency’s offerings for international tour packages. An travel agent with a wide range of international tours indicates strong global connections and a broad service range.

International Air Transport Association (IATA)

The agency’s affiliation with recognized international organizations like the International Air Transport Association (IATA) is a good sign of credibility. IATA accreditation ensures that the travel agent adheres to industry standards and best practices, providing an extra layer of assurance for travelers.

By keeping these factors in mind, you can make an informed decision while choosing a travel agent for your next adventure in the Philippines.

Travel Agencies and the Impact of COVID-19

The global pandemic has caused a seismic shift in the travel industry. The once-thriving sector faced unprecedented challenges as countries closed their borders and travel restrictions became the new norm. Yet, amidst these adversities, travel agencies in the Philippines have demonstrated resilience and adaptability.

COVID-19

Many agencies pivoted to offer virtual tours, allowing travel enthusiasts to explore new destinations from the safety of their homes. Others have focused on promoting local tourism, encouraging Filipinos to discover the beauty of their own country.

Moreover, travel agencies have elevated their safety measures to ensure the health and wellbeing of travelers. This includes organizing trips to destinations with high health and safety standards, coordinating with suppliers who uphold rigorous sanitation protocols, and providing up-to-date travel advisories to clients.

Pre-trip health screenings, smaller travel groups, private transfers, contactless check-ins, and provision of sanitation essentials have become common features in holiday packages and bespoke services. By adopting these measures, travel agencies are playing their part in restoring traveler confidence and shaping the new normal in travel.

As Featured on Philstar: Navigating changes in annual report compliance

To support our country’s tourism industry and make immigration services accessible to foreign nationals, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) launched the e-Services website in 2023. The e-services website, a part of the Bureau’s modernization projects, allows a foreign national to access quick services such as tourist visa extensions, visa waiver requests, and emigration clearance certificate applications. The newest addition to the services available on the website is the virtual Annual Report process.

If you are in Human Resources or Global Mobility and work with expatriates, you may have heard of the Annual Report. The Annual Report is a requirement for foreign nationals as part of compliance with Philippine immigration laws. This serves as a measure for the government to maintain accurate records of foreign nationals and their activities in the country. Pursuant to Republic Act (R.A.) No. 562, also known as the Alien Registration Act of 1950, all registered foreign nationals shall report in person to the Bureau of Immigration or any of its offices within the first sixty (60) days of every calendar year. The Annual Report for 2024 must be completed on or before 1 March 2024.

The Annual Report covers all registered foreign nationals who are holders of the Alien Certificate of Registration Identity Card (ACR I-Card) and paper-based Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR) with a valid visa, except those who are holders of a temporary visitor’s visa or tourist visa. While most foreign nationals need to personally appear in the Bureau of Immigration offices, some are exempted such as those below 14 years old, those 60 years old and above, those who are mentally or physically incapacitated, pregnant, or have medical conditions. For these cases, reporting can be made through an authorized representative.

The requirements for the Annual Report include online registration and scheduling an appointment through the Bureau of Immigration portal which is accessible on the BI’s e-Services website. A reference number will be issued and the foreign national can proceed to visit an immigration office and present all the necessary documents, including the ACR I-Card, a valid visa and passport, and payment for the Annual Report fee.

For 2024 Annual Report compliance, the Bureau has introduced a virtual Annual Report procedure. The virtual option is one of the agency’s initiatives to modernize its regulations and procedures, aiming to provide convenience and promote compliance. This is the first time that the immigration authority is conducting a virtual Annual Report through an interview via a video conferencing platform.

The virtual Annual Report shall be available to registered foreign nationals present in the Philippines during the Annual Report period who are holders of valid visas, except for those with paper-based ACR. This includes permanent resident visa holders, non-immigrant visa holders, including those who are voluntary registrants, and special non-immigrant visa holders such as Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) visa holders.

The importance of the Annual Report extends beyond the avoidance of monetary fines, visa cancellations, or deportations.  By abiding with these protocols, foreign nationals can help keep an orderly community in the country.

Can I extend my Dubai tourist visa?

Dubai transit visa for Indians

Indian passport holders transiting from Dubai must apply for a transit visa if they plan to stay at the airport for more than four hours. This can be done through the airline you are travelling with.

You can choose from a validity of 48 hours or 96 hours based on your transit duration.

Five-year multiple-entry tourist visa

You can also apply for a five-year entry permit that allows you to enter the UAE multiple times a year and stay in the country for up to 180 days without a sponsor.

The visa is issued for a stay of 30, 60 or 90 days once a year, at the time of application. This period may be extended for a similar amount of time, as long as the total number of days spent in the UAE - in a year - is at most 180. For more details, click here .

Dubai travel requirements

To apply for a Dubai visa, all Indian nationals need to submit the following documents with their visa application. You also need to ensure all documents are valid throughout your stay to avoid rejection.

• Passport with minimum validity of six months. • Passport size photograph with a white background. • Round trip flight tickets. • Valid travel insurance.

How can I apply for travel insurance?

If you are applying for your ticket and visa through a travel agent, the travel insurance might be included in the package, and the total cost of the service would be inclusive of the travel insurance cost. The insurance cost is calculated based on the length of your stay and you can check with your agency to confirm.

In case the insurance is not provided by your travel agent, you can also apply for it separately, through a trusted insurance company.
