Travel Fashion Girl help! A reader question from the TFG Facebook Group :

What are your recommendations for the best travel tea kettle ? It sounds ridiculous to some, I’m sure. However, my husband likes to have a few cups of coffee every day while we travel. Most hotel rooms only have a coffee maker, so I’m always stuck with tea that tastes like coffee or no tea at all.

When on vacation, you need your hot morning drink just as much as when you are at home. But when traveling, you don’t always have access to your essential kitchen utilities, such as coffee makers and electric kettles.

So, what do you do? Portable kettles or even an immersion water boiler can be tucked into your suitcase and used in your accommodation.

Our readers share their tips on how to make a cup of tea or coffee when abroad with their recommendations for the best travel kettle you can take with you anywhere!

The Best Travel Kettle

T ravel tea kettles can entail collapsible or stainless steel models that are compact and packable and can usually accommodate up to two cups.

DREAMOSA 350 ML Small Electric Travel Kettle

DREAMOSA Portable Electric Tea Kettle

Looks like a thermos, but it’s really the smallest electric kettle travel has likely seen! Joking aside, the DREAMOSA  would fit nicely into a suitcase and works well for solo travelers at 350 ml.

Built durable, it’s waterproof, has a non-slip bottom, and doesn’t keel over when on top of surfaces. It’s also doubly insulated so not hot to the touch (but still, always be cautious!). With a one-button switch and auto-shutoff, it’s super easy to operate.

One travel veteran sounds in, “I’m a flight attendant and constantly need hot water (tea, coffee, soup, etc.) on my overnights and sometimes between flights. It fits in my lunch bag or suitcase with no issue. It’s about the size of a coffee grinder or thermos bottle. It gets the water hot enough pretty quick, has an auto shut off, and even a delay before you can use it again that way it doesn’t overheat.”

CHACEEF Travel Hot Water Kettle

CHACEEF Electric Kettle Travel – Stainless Steel

When it comes to travel electric tea kettles this thermos-like device from CHACEEF could be used for car camping or an RV trip, not just travel abroad, basically anywhere you’d have access to an outlet.

The 2-in-1 design can be used not just as a kettle, but also as a straight thermos, so also wonderful for old-fashioned camping if you just need it to carry liquids. It’s built smartly so it won’t overboil and be too hot!

This reviewer is happy with their pick, “I got this for traveling, and so far, have used it only as a kettle, not to drink from. Have used it on two domestic trips. Safer than an immersion heater, and I don’t need to worry about having a compatible mug. I found it was fine to make one cup of coffee using a collapsible cone, but not enough for two. That’s good enough for most of my usage. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly it brought water to a boil—faster than the six minutes stated on the insert.”

Bonus: This travel electric kettle stainless steel model is resistant to corrosion or oxidation too!

One review says, “My husband is from Argentina and loves to drink Maté during our road trips. This travel hot water kettle allows me to heat up water during our trip so we can enjoy our tea without needing to get hot water from a gas station. It heats up 11 ounces in 10-15 minutes. You can set the temperature and have it stay hot. It’s enough for an individual serving on the go.”

The Best Travel Immersion Heater

Another top reader suggestion is taking portable water boilers for tea and coffee that are smaller and even easier to carry. One reader says, “You can get a small immersion heater that boils water in a cup or mug. I took one of them all around Europe. I did take a metal mug, but it works fine in a ceramic one, too.”

NEWVANGA International Universal All in One Travel Adapter

How To Use Your Portable Electric Water Kettle Abroad

Make sure you have a travel adapter when using a mini tea kettle travel sized accessory , which enables you to plug your electronics into international outlets. Not all countries use the same type of plug, so use an international adapter like this one .

One reader says, “This adapter is AH-mazing! Very sturdy and durable. This is the only adapter that you will need! It works everywhere!” Another adds, “This is perfect for using with any of your devices while abroad.”

Note: this travel adapter can only be used with dual voltage kettles and other devices.

Why Be Aware When Using a Travel Size Electric Tea Kettle?

Most electrical appliances can use up a fair amount of electricity so it’s particularly important that they are used with the correct voltage.

For example, in the US we use 110-120V whereas in Europe they use 220-240V. If we plug our electronics into each other’s outlets, they can blow a fuse and stop working. In some cases, they can even fry your hair. The video below can also shed light on adapters, converters, and the right voltage:

Learn about travel adapters, converters, and voltage in this video !

It’s important to understand that an adaptor and converter are NOT the same things. An adapter fits the outlets and a converter changes the electrical current so your electronics don’t blow a fuse!

Completely plan to grab one of these for my Vegas conference next year – there’s not in room coffee at the casinos!

Carrie Kim

I was just at an inn and needed one of these! I didn’t know such small and lightweight electric teakettles existed. Thank you for this information!

Sarah Ananthan

I love my home electric kettle. Knowing which smaller travel version to purchase is very helpful for planning my upcoming road trip. Merci!

Michelle Otten

my husband LOVES tea. he was going to bring our kettle on his last trip, but decided to leave it home instead. one of these portable kettles would be the perfect gift for him, especially a collapsible one.

Jennifer Hart

So happy I read this post! Going with GF’s to see Rod Stewart in Vegas this November. I really like my coffee in bed in the morning and want to bring a electric kettle with me for the convenience. One of these will work perfectly for this situation! Thanks!

Lindsey

Oh, I love this idea. I already take individual packets of matcha tea and collagen, but often have a hard time making clean hot water (using a used coffee maker is not the vibe).

Patti McConnell

Given that my travelling has been limited to the US and staying in hotels or with family, I really hadn’t thought much about being able to have my morning coffee and evening tea when I’m not at home. This article has lots of great ideas that I will be incorporating as I prepare for a trip overseas in a couple of years.

Grace Redovich

So many options! Looking forward to fresh hot coffee on the road.

Raylene Lawrence

I purchased the Loutytuo kettle as recommended by another TFG reader. I loved it so much and used it more often than I expected. I even purchased one for my granddaughter who is at university to take with her on long days at the lab and library. She make Ramen as well as hot tea! Go figure! ♥️

Amy Davey

Yes!! I love this! I have started traveling with an immersion coil heater (I stick it right in my toiletries bag) and a plastic baggie of tea bags and instant coffee. Sometimes I just need that little comfort of home while I’m traveling.

The Best Travel Kettles (Get Your Caffeine Fix On The Road)

If you can’t go a day without coffee or tea, you better get yourself a travel kettle . The free coffee in most hotels is mostly instant and/or terrible. This way, you can ensure that you’ll always have your choice of brew in the morning.

More than that, it’s also a handy tool to have with you if you’re on a budget. Use it to sterilize questionable water, cook noodles, boil eggs, and whatever else you’ll need to heat with water.

Top Product Overview

The best travel kettles, gourmia gk360 travel foldable electric kettle.

Gourmia GK360 Travel Foldable Electric Kettle - Fast Water Boiling - Food Grade Silicone - Small, Collapsible, Portable - Boil Dry Protection - .8 Qt - 110/120v - 820W - White

Space-savers are always excellent options whatever the destination. The  Gourmia GK360 Travel Foldable Electric Kettle  holds  800mL of water  which roughly amounts to one or two cups.

Thanks to its food-grade silicone body, the  collapsible design  makes this handy kettle uber portable and very easy to store.

This kettle has a  speed boil feature , boiling water faster than a microwave. It saves time and you can get it and go if you’re in a hurry. It also has a  sensor that shuts off the power  when the water level is too low. There’s also a lid-lock to keep boiling water from spilling and an integrated spout filter.

You have to be very careful when reaching around the kettle, however. The  chrome ring around the base tends to get extremely hot  when the kettle is on for a long time. It’s highly likely to be hot enough to scald you if you’re not careful.

  • Collapsible
  • Compact and portable
  • Simple on-off switch
  • Chrome ring at the base can get very hot

Product Information

  • Material: Food-grade silicone
  • Product Dimensions: 4.2 x 7.2 x 6.5 inches
  • Capacity: 800mL
  • Safety Features: Power Sensor, Lid Lock, Spout Filter

Gourmia GK378 Dual Voltage Collapsible Kettle

Gourmia GK378 Dual Voltage Electric Collapsible Travel Kettle - 1.5 Qt Capacity - Foldable & Portable - Fast Boil - Water Boiler For Coffee, Tea & More - Keep Warm Function

Another great collapsible travel kettle from Gormia is the GK378 . Not only does it squeeze down into a very compact size, but it also works in two voltages!

Why is this so handy? Well, if you head anywhere overseas, the chances are big that that voltage of the local electricity could differ from where you live. For example, North America uses 120V, while Europe uses 220V. And if you take a normal kettle with you, it will either blow up or not work well (or at all). Not a great start to your travels!

Gormia also likes to provide high-grade materials and safety, using kitchen-grade silicone as well as integrating a dry boil cut-off to save you from any mishaps. Of course, I prefer stainless steel for kettles, but when you are on the go, that means more weight and space.

  • Light and compact
  • Great for travel (dual voltage)
  • Dry boil safety feature
  • Keep warm function
  • Quite small capacity
  • No stainless steel
  • Material: Plastic
  • Product Dimensions: 4 x 7 x 7.75 in
  • Capacity: 500mL
  • Safety Features: Removable Base, Auto-off

Bodum BISTRO Water Kettle

Bodum Bistro Electric Water Kettle, 17 Ounce, .5 Liter, White

The  Bodum BISTRO Water Kettle  is technically not a travel kettle. But at  4 x 7 x 7.75 inches , it’s definitely portable enough to function as one.

This kettle can hold  500mL of water . It has a water level window with different units of measurement so you’ll know exactly how much water you need wherever you are.

It’s also one of the funkier designs where kettles are concerned. With  four modern colors to choose from , this is for someone who wants a bit of pizzazz.

Since it’s not specifically designed as a travel kettle, it’s built with the conveniences of a regular kettle. This includes a  removable base . You can pour the liquid through a mesh-filtered spout without bringing the cord along with you.

There have been some safety issues in a few units. There was a  product recall in December  due to flimsy parts, but the new units seem to be trouble-free.  Make sure you get the new batches before purchasing .

  • Modern and funky design
  • Has all the perks of a regular kettle in a portable size
  • Safety issues in older units

Bonavita Dual Voltage 0.5L Travel Electric Kettle

BonaVoyage BV3825B05 Bonavita 0.5L Mini Kettle, Stainless Steel

This stainless steel kettle is very durable. It also won’t leave a plastic or metal taste in your drinks. It also looks quite pretty and you won’t mind leaving this perched on your office desk or kitchen table. Its  900-watt heating element  means quick heating in any situation, which is great when you want your cup of joe, right now!

The kettle has  boil-dry protection  that switches off the device when the water level is too low.

The only downside is that many reviewers are not giving this kettle glowing reviews.

  • Dual Voltage
  • Good design
  • Durable build
  • Dual voltage is not automatic
  • Toggling between 120 and 220 V is inconvenient
  • Material: Stainless Steel
  • Product Dimensions: 7 x 4 x 6.75 inches
  • Safety Features: Auto-shutoff, Boil-Dry Protection

NEME Travel Foldable Electric Kettle

NEME Travel Foldable Electric Kettle - Collapsible Water Boiler For Coffee Tea- Food Grade Silicone - Dual Voltage 110-220V - Detachable Power Cord - Portable Kettle 600ML (White)

Another collapsible find is the NEME Travel Foldable Electric Kettle – . It’s portable, durable, extremely lightweight. The catch? It’s a lot smaller than most of the kettles in this review.

It’s made from food-grade silicone, with a hard plastic base. And overall, it is easily collapsible and easily stored. Especially since the cord is removable and they give you a handy bag to store everything in.

Two other features of this travel kettle worth noting are that it is dual voltage so can be used inside and outside the USA. It also has Auto Dry Protection so that if you accidentally leave it boiling or switch it on with no water, it won’t continue to boil.

The biggest downside of this kettle is the capacity, which is only 18oz (555ml), however, this can also be an upside if that is all you need.

  • Small and compact
  • Small capacity
  • Material: Silicone
  • Product Dimensions: 6.7 x 5.4 x 5.2 inches (170 x 139 x 132mm)
  • Folded Size: 5.9 x 5.4 x s inches (149 x 139 x 50mm)
  • Capacity: 16 oz (0.5L)
  • Features: Auto Dry Protection, Dual Voltage

DCIGNA 0.5L Dual Voltage Travel Kettle

DCIGNA Electric Tea Kettle, 0.5L Stainless Steel Travel Kettle, Portable Hot Water Kettle, Auto Shut-off & Fast Boiling, Dry Protection, Suitable For Coffee, Tea, 110V/800W (Dark Blue)

Another great option, from a relatively unknown brand, is this dual voltage  travel kettle from DCIGNA . It’s handy in its size, at only 500mL (0.5L which is 17 oz). So enough to boil a few cups, but not so big you really can’t travel with it.

And with the dual voltage, you can take it anywhere overseas where the voltage is often different (220V in Europe, 110V in the USA for example. If you take the wrong one in either direction you either end up with a kettle that doesn’t boil, or it blows up! Neither is a great option.

Because this kettle uses a stainless steel container to boil the water, I am also a huge fan. Having owned dozens of kettles over the years, I now only accept and use stainless steel.

  • Dual voltage is not automatic (needs to be switched
  • Not a well known brand
  • Product Dimensions: 7 x 6.3 x 5.5 inches

Proctor Silex 40940 Compact Electric Kettle

Proctor Silex Compact Electric Tea Kettle, Water Boiler & Heater. 0.5 L, Cordless, Auto-Shutoff and Boil-Dry Protection, Stainless Steel (40940)

Another very simple and easy-to-use kettle that is also pretty small is this 16oz stainless steel option from Proctor Silex.

There is not too much to say about this kettle, as it doesn’t have any very fancy features like the collapsable or dual voltage ones. However, it does have auto-shutoff and dry boil protection, which gives me peace of mind. If you are on vacation or travel in your home country, then it could be just what you need.

What I love about models that are stainless steel is that they are easy to clean and don’t tend to affect the taste of my beloved coffee.

  • Easy toggle switch between 115 and 230 V
  • Comes with drinking cups
  • Cheap-looking and made of plastic
  • Material: Stainless Steel & Plastic
  • Product Dimensions: 8 x 5 x 7.5 in inches
  • Capacity: 500mL / 16oz
  • Features: Cord-free serving, Auto-shutoff, Dry-boil protection

What to Look For?

Travel kettles can hold anywhere from 500mL to 1L of water. Any bigger and it becomes less portable. Depending on how much coffee you need in a given caffeine session, solo travelers can usually make do with 500mL kettles to help keep everything as lightweight as possible.

There are dual voltage kettles that will help make traveling to different regions easier for you. So, if you do (or plan to) travel outside your country, this is a great investment.

Tech tip : In case you are not aware, various countries and regions have different voltages for their standard electricity. So, if you bring a kettle from one country to another and they have different voltages either

  • The kettle won’t work or will be insanely slow (best case scenario – not enough voltage)
  • The kettle will explode, melt or just fry the wires when you turn it on (too much voltage)

There is some more information  on this website  about how it works, and what you can use instead (hint, it’s painful to carry the other options).

Different materials mean different things. Plastic is usually cheaper and lightweight. Stainless steel is more durable and easier to clean. So, when you see these materials in the descriptions, you will know how to make a choice (cheap vs durable).

Silicone is used for handles or for collapsible kettles. It is also quite light and does not tend to break as easily as plastic.

Which Travel Kettle Is The Best For You?

For a simple gadget, there are a lot of options and several factors to consider when choosing the right travel kettle.

The  Gourmia  ticks all the boxes when it comes to travel. It is collapsible, dual voltage, and reasonably priced. So, if you need to save space, money and also potentially travel to various countries this is a great buy.

Gourmia GK360 Travel Foldable Electric Kettle - Fast Water Boiling - Food Grade Silicone - Small, Collapsible, Portable - Boil Dry Protection - .8 Qt - 110/120v - 820W (Black)

  • SPEED BOIL: Heat water in a flash for all of your coffees, teas, noodles and cereals. Faster than any out-dated microwave or stovetop pot.
  • COLLAPSIBLE DESIGN: Expands so you can fill and boil up to .8L of water, or easily fold and store away! Perfect to take along for perfectly piping hot water- wherever your travels lead you.

If space is not so much of an issue and you just want a reliable, simple travel kettle with enough capacity to pour for yourselves and maybe some friends,  the Bodum  is a decent buy.

It doesn’t have dual-voltage (which you don’t need if you stay within the US/Canada) or collapse, but it’s light and one of the cheaper options on the list. Bodum is also a very reliable brand.

  • Water kettle: Bistro water kettles are an effective and efficient way to boil the Exact amount of water needed in minutes; perfect for Coffee, tea and instant soups

No matter which one you choose, having the option to make your own tea or coffee on the road is something you will never regret. Especially when there are no take-out of decent options in the neighborhood :>

6 Best Portable Bottle Warmers, Tested by a Nursing Mom

profile picture of Christine Carpenter

In a nutshell: Based on hands-on product testing and extensive market research, we chose the Baby’s Brew 3.0 Portable Bottle Warmer as the overall best. This option stood out because of its compact, lightweight design, temperature controls and ability to heat a baby bottle quickly and efficiently on the go.

Whether you’re breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, there may come a time when you need to warm some milk for baby on the go—and whether it’s a family vacation or a day trip to grandma’s, we all know babies don’t exactly like to be kept waiting! That’s where a portable bottle warmer comes in.

Portable bottle warmers come in several varieties; some work via heat induction, others by keeping hot water in a thermos for later use. They can be powered by rechargeable batteries, wall sockets, or even no electricity at all. As a mom of two little boys (including a hungry 10-month-old), I need a quick, efficient, bottle warmer that’s easy to use and can heat the supplemental breast milk I provide for my baby. Even as a stay-at-home mom and freelance writer whose work is primarily in the home, I love the freedom of travel-friendly options for day trips. Bonus points if I can throw it in my already jam-packed diaper bag . Keep reading to shop my favorite picks for the best portable bottle warmers on the market right now, then learn more about what to look for in a travel bottle warmer.

How We Tested and Chose the Portable Bottle Warmers

travel milk boiler

Two things that don’t mix? A hungry baby and traveling. Fortunately, a portable bottle warmer can help you out in a pinch. To help you find the best portable bottle warmers on the market today, The Bump editorial team and I took the following steps:

  • I personally put eight portable bottle warmers to the test. I followed the assembly instructions and user guides supplied with the portable bottle warmers. I then heated my breast milk per each product’s instruction manual. I also tested any additional features; such as sanitizing pacifiers or heating baby food. After using each device, I cleaned the portable bottle warmers as directed. All this to determine which product is best for busy parents on the go.
  • After completing the steps above, I evaluated the portable bottle warmers based on the following criteria: assembly, portability, temperature controls, speed and additional features. From there each model received a score out of 10, with 1 being the worst possible score and 10 being the best.
  • As part of our research, we consulted guidelines by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on the proper storage and preparation of breast milk.
  • To see how these portable bottle warmers worked for a variety of families, we conducted exhaustive market research, scouring forums and message boards and reading user reviews to find out what parents across the country looked for in this type of device.

Best Portable Bottle Warmers

Overall best portable bottle warmer.

Baby's Brew Bottle Warmer with 4 Adapters

  • Fits in a cup holder
  • Fits 38 bottle brands
  • Slow heat technology ensures no hotspots
  • Only comes with one silicone ring, which can easily be misplaced

Baby’s Brew 3.0 Portable Bottle Warmer checks all the boxes for the best portable bottle warmer for breast milk or formula. It’s compact, lightweight and, best of all, efficient. The instructions for use are printed right on the outside of the box, making it easy to warm up a bottle right away. The device is compatible with 20 baby bottle brands, including the Philips Avent Natural bottles I use to feed my son supplemental breast milk. But I was impressed by the fact that it came with four adapters that accommodate 18 different brands, including both wide and narrow-neck bottles. The bottle screwed directly into the warmer easily and securely, without any leaking.

I love the heat settings on the Baby's Brew warmer. The four set temperatures are 80 F, 98 F, 103 F and 110 F, and the controls are super-easy to operate. There’s a single button at the base of the device, which you press and hold to turn it on or off, while quick presses let you adjust the temperature setting. Since breast milk touches the warmer, it needs to be cleaned after every use. However, it’s so simple to clean with either a breast pump wipe or a damp cloth, that I didn't find this to be a problem.

The compact size of this portable bottle warmer is also worth mentioning—it’s small enough to fit in a cup holder! Although it doesn’t come with a carry bag, I packed the Baby’s Brew warmer in my sling handbag and my diaper bag without adding any extra bulk. I also like that the cord was compatible with my iPhone 15 charger (C charger), making it so convenient to charge in the car or at home.

This handy little appliance came in clutch on a day trip to our local farm for an Easter egg hunt with my family. I had a bottle of pumped breast milk in a travel cooler bag and I simply screwed it into the warmer. Within a little over three minutes, my son’s bottle was warmed to a perfect body temperature of 98 degrees. There were no hot spots, and the milk warmed evenly and he took his bottle (very happily!) right away.

Dimensions: 7" (L) x 7" (W) x 3" (H) | Weight: 1.76 lbs | Auto shut-off: Yes

Our product tester says: “Baby's Brew 3.0 Portable Bottle Warmer Pro has everything you would want in a baby bottle warmer. It fits right into the car cup holder while warming, it’s easily transported in a diaper bag and it warms baby's bottle to the perfect temperature. I would definitely recommend it to both a formula feeding and breastfeeding mom!”

Best bottle warmer for breast milk

Portable Bottle and Breastmilk Warmer

  • Sleek design
  • Countdown timer
  • Steady warm setting preserves breast milk nutrients
  • Water level can be difficult to see
  • Better for use at a destination than on-the-go

This device is unique in that it features two different warming methods that ensure baby’s meal is the perfect temperature every time. The “quick warm” setting uses steam heat for formula bottles and baby food, while the “steady warm” setting uses a water bath to gently warm breast milk, all while preserving essential milk proteins. It’s worth noting that many bottle warmers on the market exclusively use steam heat, which can heat breast milk too quickly, causing hot spots, overheating and a loss of nutrients. Due to the precise settings, I would not be concerned about burning or damaging precious breast milk nutrients with this warmer.

Before I got started, I had to pour enough water into the bottle warmer so that it matched the milk level of the bottle. While the warmer came with a measuring vial, I did need a pitcher to effectively add the correct amount of water. Once this step was completed, I pressed the “cold” button (since my breast milk came out of the fridge), and then hit “steady warm" to begin the warming cycle. In total, it took 4 minutes to heat my baby's 4 ounce bottle using this setting. While this bottle warmer takes a bit longer than some of the less expensive steam heat options, I felt that the steady warm temperature setting was gentle and did not overheat my breastmilk.

One of my favorite features is the countdown timer which indicates how much time is left until my baby’s bottle is ready. Upon completion, the device makes a beeping sound and automatically shuts off for safety. I also love that there is a defrost setting, especially when my baby is hungry and my husband needs to quickly prepare some frozen breast milk. While it’s incredibly lightweight, this model is larger than other travel bottle warmers and has to be plugged at the mains. While it wouldn’t fit in a cup holder or my diaper bag, I would pack it for day trips and extended stays because of its many great features.

Dimensions: 11.5" (H) x 5.5" (W) x 6.5" (D) | Weight: 3 lbs. | Auto shut-off: Yes

Our product tester says: “At around $60, this warmer is well worth the price. It packs a bunch of great features. I love that it is a lightweight option, with plenty of up-to-date technology. I would buy this warmer for myself or another mom!”

Best smart portable bottle warmer

NutriSmart Bottle Warmer

  • Car adapter
  • Timer for automatic warming
  • Rapid steam mode heats a bottle in 80 seconds
  • No carry bag
  • Doesn’t fit in a cup holder
  • Instructions were a little confusing

This travel-friendly bottle warmer features the word “smart” in the title—with good reason. The warmer detects the temperature of baby’s bottle and automatically determines the optimal heating times for your baby’s milk. Talk about a game-changer!

It’s a relatively lightweight bottle warmer, but it doesn’t fit into a cup holder or diaper bag, so a purpose-built carry bag for the warmer and cables would have been a nice addition. With that said, it does come complete with a car AC port, so you can charge it on the move making it a great option for road trips. And although you do have to add water, this bottle warmer didn’t leak, which is a huge plus.

Another fantastic feature was the delayed warming feature. My baby wakes up around midnight every night, so I was able to program the warmer to automatically begin warming at that time. I also love that with the “keep warm” function, I can heat a bottle and then heat a baby food jar and keep it warm (98.6 degrees) for up to one hour. This feature is perfect for my happy little eater who looks for food about a half hour after his bottle feed!

Dimensions: 7" (L) x 5.5" (W) X 3” (D) | Weight: 2 lbs. | Auto shut-off: Yes

Our product tester says: “The bottle was heated to perfection as it automatically adjusts the warming time to achieve an optimal temperature. The milk was warmed evenly and without any hot spots.”

Best fast-acting portable bottle warmer

Momcozy Portable Bottle Warmer, Safety Material Baby Bottle Warmer for Travel with 5 Connectors

  • Long battery life
  • Heats milk in 2 to 3 minutes
  • Silicone rings need to be very secure or the bottle will leak
  • Must be used with an adapter

Need a warm bottle for baby in a flash? Enter Momcozy Cordless Portable Baby Bottle Warmer. The bottle warmer charges lightning fast and requires no water for use, so it’s ready to go right out of the box.

The controls—which can be set to Fahrenheit or Celsius—are simple to operate and offer six different temperature settings. I heated my baby’s supplemental 1.5 ounce bottle in two minutes flat, while a 3.5 ounce bottle only took about three minutes. I was so impressed with how quickly this warmer achieved the optimal temperature. While other compact bottle warmers can take up to ten minutes to complete a warming cycle, this little device heats up in no time at all.

I used this portable milk warmer while playing outside with my toddler and 10-month-old. It was so convenient to have on hand and I loved that I didn’t have to disturb my toddler’s outdoor time to come in and warm up his little brother’s bottle.

Dimensions: 7" (L) x 5.5" (W) X 3" (D) | Weight: 2 lbs. | Auto shut-off: Yes

Our product tester says: “It heated very cold milk at a steady pace and took about 3 minutes to get to 98 degrees. The bottle heated my breast milk to a perfect body temperature with no hot-spots.”

Best budget-friendly bottle warmer

The First Years Baby Bottle Warmer and Sterilizer - Pacifier and Bottle Nipple Sanitizer

  • Sanitizes pacifiers
  • Heats breast milk, formula and baby food
  • Affordable price point
  • Not suitable for glass bottles
  • Can overheat milk, damaging breast milk nutrients

With a price tag under $20, you’ll be hard pressed to find another portable bottle warmer as good as this one by The First Years. Doubling as a sterilizer, this warmer uses steam heat to sanitize pacifiers or quickly warm baby bottles and food jars. While there is no temperature indicator, the milk is warmed by measuring out the desired amount of water based on how many ounces of milk (note: breastmilk or formula require different amounts) you're preparing. I like that it comes with a vial to help you precisely measure the amount of water that needs to be added. And there's a slot in the back of the appliance for the “warming card” complete with heating times per ounce for both breastmilk and formula. It’s also very simple to operate with one button that lights up while warming and an automatic shut-off feature. The simple device has no advanced settings, but the use of steam heat gives the bottle a nice, even temperature. And I personally love that it heats up within a minute!

This portable bottle warmer takes up very little room in a pantry and occupies minimal counter space. While it doesn’t come with a travel bag, I still packed it up and brought it with me on trips to my parents and friend’s homes. It doesn’t fit into a cup holder, but it fits into my diaper bag, even if it is a little bulkier than other options. While it requires an outlet for use when traveling, I like that the box is so compact and holds all of the pieces nicely, so I do still consider it to be a lightweight, portable option. On a final note: I love that the water vial, basket, ring and sanitizer lid are all top-rack dishwasher-safe, making it easy to clean the individual components.

Dimensions: 4.6" (L) x 4.6" (W) 6.5" (H) | Weight: 1 lb | Auto shut-off: Yes

Our product tester says: “At around $20, you get huge value for your money with this bottle warmer. Not only does it sterilize, but it heats bottles so quickly and efficiently. While it doesn't have many of the bells and whistles (temperature controls or defrost settings), I love the safety feature of the automatic shutoff and I feel the features exceed the price point.”

Best insulated portable bottle warmer

Kiinde Kozii Voyager, Compact Travel Bottle Warmer for Breast Milk

  • Budget-friendly
  • Kept water hot for hours
  • Two warming cups heat different size bottles or food pouches
  • No temperature controls
  • I didn’t love handling boiling water around my baby and toddler

The Kiinde Kozii Voyager Travel Bottle Warmer is the perfect option to take on the go. Whether you’re heating breastmilk, formula or baby food, this simple thermos-style bottle warmer does the job. Assembly was a breeze and, since this warmer uses hot water, there are no buttons, controls or electricity required. Better yet, it fits right into my car and stroller cup holder and doesn’t add a tremendous amount of weight to a diaper bag, making it the perfect choice for quick outings or long car journeys.

The travel bottle warmer comes with a stainless steel water container and an insulated outer shell that breaks apart to become two warming cups. To heat a bottle, simply place it in a warming cup and pour in water from the flask. Thanks to the stainless steel construction the water stays hot for over eight hours! I especially love that it came with two warming cups; one tall and one short. This allowed me to heat both a baby food pouch and a bottle at the same time if needed. And cleaning this warmer was so easy; I simply used a bottle brush, which easily sanitized all surfaces.

While this is somewhat of an old-school method, I still felt that this portable bottle warmer heated my baby's food pouches and bottles to perfection. I was able to pull out the bottle after about two minutes and tested the temperature on my forearm to ensure that the milk did not get too hot.

Dimensions: 4" (L) x 4" (W) x 8.7" (H) | Weight: 1.2 lbs. | Auto shut-off: No

Our product tester says: “The Kozii Voyager fits nicely into my diaper bag and it also fits in my car and stroller cup holder—so I don't have to waste precious space if my diaper bag is full with many other items for my baby and toddler.”

Portable Bottle Warmer Comparison Chart

What to look for in a travel bottle warmer.

The first thing to consider when you’re looking for a bottle warmer is how you’ll use it. If you’re looking for a smaller model that’ll use up less shelf space at home and pack well into a suitcase for setup at your destination, a smaller model of a normal bottle warmer—the type that plugs into a wall socket—will get the job done. If you want something for use in a car or on a hiking trip, you’ll need something that’s not tied to a power source. You might want a rechargeable, battery-powered bottle warmer or an electricity-free thermos-style option. But whichever model you choose, we’ve gathered a few things to consider when shopping for the best portable bottle warmer:

  • Size. Will the bottle warmer sit on a hotel bedside table? Or does it need to be stashed in a diaper bag? Bottle warmer sizes vary, and some are bulkier than others. For the utmost in on-the-go convenience, a thermos-style portable milk warmer makes a great option. Personally, I enjoyed the lightweight models that could easily fit back into the packaging for easy transportation to my parent’s house as well as warmers that easily fit into the cup holder in my car and stroller.
  • Power source. The earliest bottle warmer models operated by plugging them into an electrical socket. But today, you can find rechargeable USB bottle warmers or cordless bottle warmers that operate using batteries. Consider what, if any, power source you might need before shopping. I particularly loved when a warmer had a USB-C cable for charging, as this meant I could keep the cord in my diaper bag or handbag, and use my iPhone charger as an additional cord for car charging.
  • Ease of cleaning. When it comes to anything related to babies, convenience and cleanliness are key! Look for a travel bottle warmer that’s easy to clean, rather than having tons of parts to remove and replace before using. Components and/or adapters that are dishwasher safe or can be easily wiped down are a bonus!

And when it comes to feeding baby, keep in mind that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends using breast milk within two hours of coming to room temperature. So if you use a portable bottle warmer to warm milk, it’s important that you feed it to baby right away. In addition, it’s never safe to refreeze milk that has been thawed or warmed in a bottle warmer.

What is a Travel Kettle?

A travellers kettle is no different from a standard kettle in terms of functionality. However, it differs in size, shape, and portability. You’ll notice how travel kettles are much smaller and can sometimes be folded down to fit in your suitcase.

In addition, some mini travel kettles are operated using the cigarette lighter in your vehicle. Nothing beats having a personal water boiler in your car, huh!?

You will find a more in-depth list of the best kettle reviews further down.

Why you Need a Travel Kettle

A travel kettle is a perfect addition to your travel packing list. Whether you’re an avid tea or coffee drinker, you need to heat baby milk on the road, or simply looking for a compact travel kettle, accommodation isn’t always guaranteed to have a good quality working kettle. Some places have no kettles at all.

It’s always useful to have a travel kettle handy when these situations arise. Travelling is often cheaper when you have an easy method to heat up food. With a travel kettle, you’ll be able to stock up on pot noodles and save money along the way.

Types of Travel Kettles

Car kettles.

Car travel kettles are a genius invention to enable people to boil a kettle via the cigarette plug in their car. Although these kettles can take much longer to boil, you’ll be able to enjoy a hot drink on the go – perfect for a road trip.

Dual Voyage Kettles

Dual voyage kettles can accept both plugs with 110-120V and 220-240V. If your kettle is dual voltage, you’ll only need a travel adapter, and you’ll be able to use the kettle in most destinations around the world. If you have a single voltage device, you’ll need a voltage converter to use the kettle in most places overseas.

How to choose the best Travel kettle

When you look at your chosen travel kettle’s weight, make sure the kettle isn’t too heavy for your luggage. If you already have a heavy load, consider getting a more compact, lighter, and portable kettle, such as the Swan Travel Kettle .

If you’re looking for a kettle for your motorhome or university room that’s good quality, look at the Lakeland Travel kettle.

Consider how much room you have to spare in your luggage before deciding on your travel kettle size. If you already have a large load or you’re backpacking, consider a small travel kettle.

If you have an unlimited baggage allowance, consider a larger kettle with a bigger capacity.

You should look for a kettle that suits the number of drinks you’ll be making in one go. Most travel kettles are 500ml which is enough to make two drinks in one shot.

You may consider a larger capacity if you’re travelling as a larger group, such as the Loyton Travel kettle at 1L/4 cups. As a solo traveller, look at the Swan Travel kettle with a 400ml capacity. One cup water heaters also have a faster boiling time, which is essential when travelling.

Boiling speed

You don’t want to be waiting too long for your kettle to boil. Most kettles with a fast boiling speed (1000 watts) are usually more expensive. You should make sure that you strike a good balance between price and boiling speed.

travel milk boiler

To be exact – it takes 5 minutes to boil 1.5L of water. And for 0.5L, it only takes 2 minutes!

And here’s the best part…

The ON2NO Electric Kettle is made with 100% food-grade stainless steel to ensure you’re not consuming any dangerous chemicals on your travels. You never can be too safe nowadays!

A travel kettle is the best option to boil water when travelling. They are small, compact and easily fit in hand luggage. You could also consider a car kettle or camping kettle to boil water while travelling.

Most travel kettles are  500ml  which is enough to make two drinks in one go. If you’re travelling as a larger group, you may want to consider a larger capacity such as the Loyton Travel kettle at 1L/4 cups. As a solo traveller, take a look at the Swan Travel kettle with a 400ml capacity.

This depends on the type of campsite you’re staying in. Traditional travel kettles require plugging in, but many campsites provide power supplies. You could also consider a car kettle if you’re bringing your car.

The Innoware Travel Kettle is the best dual voltage option. That means it will automatically change voltage depending on your geographical location. To put it bluntly – you won’t have any issues using this kettle abroad

The wattage of a travel kettle varies depending on the kettle’s price, brand, and size. Most travel kettles have a wattage between 550w and 1000w. Car kettles vary between 150v and 250v.

When it comes to the smallest kettle you can buy, the Swan Travel Kettle tops the list. Its dimensions are 10.1 x 15.8 x 17.1 cm, making it the perfect travel accessory.

The Russell Hobbs Buckingham Kettle is the quietest. And it’s no accident! This kettle is designed with built-in quiet boil technology. It works by dispersing the bubbles, making them smaller, and reducing the noise.

You can purchase kettles that plug into the cigarette lighter in your car. These kettles are typically smaller than your average kitchen kettle. This is because they are designed for travelling.

Yes, you can use a car battery to boil a kettle. However, you can expect the boiling time to be considerably lower than normal. If you’re looking for the best rapid boil kettle, you won’t find it in a car. With that being said, single-cup water heaters are best for cars. The less water that needs to be boiled, the less time it takes.

The thing about 12V car kettles is they take a while to boil. On average, you can expect a full kettle to take about 15-20 minutes. Because of the longer duration, it’s important to leave plenty of time for your cup of tea or coffee. What’s more, keeping a flash in your car is a lifesaver. It means you can keep your brew warm once it has boiled. Because who wants to wait another 30 minutes to boil a kettle!? Not me!

The 8 Very Best Milk Frothers

We’ve got electric, handheld, stovetop, and manual options for all your milk-frothing needs..

Portrait of Emma Wartzman

In this article

  • Best overall
  • Best less expensive
  • Best with adjustable temperature
  • Best battery-operated
  • Best less expensive battery operated
  • Best rechargeable
  • Best stovetop
  • Best manual

In general, I roll my eyes at one-trick-pony kitchen tools. No one needs a dedicated avocado or apple slicer. But sometimes you do, in fact, run into a single-use item that actually does its job in a way nothing else can. And a milk frother, it turns out, is one of those items.

Since researching milk frothers for this article and testing several myself, I’ve become a total convert. I used to simply splash milk in my coffee cold from the fridge, but the ritual of frothing has now become so much a part of my morning routine that I’ve made space for two frothers in my kitchen: there’s our best overall model that plugs in and heats the milk, and then a slim battery-charged stick that’s handy for iced coffee and especially convenient for traveling to a house rental.

Here, you’ll find those frothers along with several others that run the gamut in terms of how they work. I’ve included a stovetop contraption for the real gearheads, one where you can control the exact temperature if that’s important to you, and a manual option that works surprisingly well, among others. The models on this list also satisfy a range of budgets and technical preferences — and are each tested by me or endorsed by coffee pros and folks who regularly use and love the one they have. And if you’re interested in completing your coffee setup, you can read my guides to the best coffee makers , coffee grinders , and electric kettles , too.

What we’re looking for

Steam creation.

Frothers don’t inherently heat up milk. Some of them are frothers and steamers, performing both tasks at the same time. Others, though, only create air bubbles, requiring you to heat up your milk first, either on the stove or in the microwave.

Frothing technology

Electric frothers (the ones that usually also produce steam) need to be plugged into an outlet. You push a button, they do their thing for a minute or two, and then stop. Battery-operated frothers look like little sticks with a flat whisk on the end that whirs when you hold down a button. These are two types you’ll see most. But one product on this list is a stovetop contraption, and another is completely manual.

Best milk frother overall

Nespresso Aerocinno 4 Frother

Steam creation: Yes  | Frothing technology: Electric

The Nespresso Aerocinno is the milk frother I use the most — several times a week, in fact. It has four settings: hot dense foam, hot airier foam, cold foam, and heated milk with no foam at all — so if you’re a person who likes to change up their coffee or tea drink, the range on this little machine will certainly be useful. The small buttons, denoted by clear illustrations, are all on the front of the machine; you click one, it blinks until the liquid is done heating and/or frothing, then stops when it’s time to open and pour.

I particularly appreciate the difference between the dense and airy settings, the former of which produces a really luscious mouthfeel with a sizable pile of foam on top, and the latter of which I use when I want the majority of my milk to disperse into my coffee . The no foam setting is also much appreciated. I don’t own a microwave , so when an afternoon coffee craving strikes, I simply pour a mug of cooled-down brew into the vessel (sometimes even without milk) and press the button. What results is a perfectly hot cup of fresh-tasting coffee. The spout is defined, too, resulting in a clean pour, which I especially like given the thicker consistency of the frothed liquid. And a final note: It’s super-easy to clean with a hot-water rinse (and maybe a quick wipe with a sponge on the bottom if I’ve accidentally let it sit for too long).

travel milk boiler

Best less expensive milk frother

Chinya Milk Frother

Steam creation: Yes | Frothing technology: Electric

When I tested the Chinya, which is less than half the price of the Aeroccino, I found it to be a super-solid machine. It has three modes: hot foam, cold foam, and heated milk with no foam at all (for this last setting, you just remove the stainless-steel whisk). The consistency of the frothed milk is creamy and rich, but not so thick that I don’t get any actual coffee in those first few sips. The heat disperses evenly, and the wide basin — larger than that of the Aeroccino — is easy to clean because there’s more room to get my hand in there with a sponge.

It’s also the machine of choice for creative consultant and writer Harling Ross Anton , who I spotted using a slightly older model on Instagram. “I bought it after reading tons of glowing reviews, and it has definitely lived up to them,” she told me. “I make myself a matcha latte every morning so a good frother is critical. I like a decent layer of foam, but not so much foam that it’s all air and no milk. I also like my milk to be quite hot. This frother gives me the perfect foam-to-milk ratio and temperature every time .”

Best milk frother with adjustable temperature

Breville Milk Cafè Electric Frother

This setup costs more than the other two similarly sized and shaped frothers above, but that’s because it gives you a maximum amount of control. “It can go between 120 and 160 degrees,” says Cary Wong, a member of the Partners Coffee education team, so you can find the perfect temperature for yourself. To adjust the temperature, you use a dial that can be set at 140 degrees (designated as the “optimum milk temp”) or turned up or down depending on how hot or cool you prefer your milk. There’s also an option to froth cold milk for iced coffee. And, Wong notes, “it’s stainless steel for easy cleaning, with parts that can go into the dishwasher.”

Best battery-operated milk frother

NanoFoamer Milk Frother

Steam creation: No | Frothing technology: Battery-operated

In general, battery-operated handheld frothers (which pretty much all have a small flat whisk at the end of a long handle that whirs quickly when you press a button) are weaker than their electric counterparts. That’s why Suyog Mody, founder of Driftaway Coffee , and James McCarthy, coffee educator at Driftaway Coffee , are amazed at the performance of the NanoFoamer. Over the course of many tests, it was able to produce a texture surprisingly close to café-quality foam — what the pros call “micro bubbles” or “microfoam”. It’s a consistency difficult to achieve without the force of a steam wand, but McCarthy swears this stacks up. “It kind of blew my mind honestly,” he says, noting that the whisk comes with three different-sized heads, and that the middle “fine” one was his and Mody’s favorite for traditional microfoam. (See Driftaway’s reel for even more detailed instructions on how to use the gadget.)

Best less expensive battery-operated milk frother

Aerolatte Original Steam Free Milk Frother

If you don’t want to shell out so much (and you don’t feel picky about microfoam), there are many other battery-operated milk frothers out there. The Aerolatte is one such simple, compact, and easy-to-store contraption. Ken Nye, owner of Ninth Street Espresso , says he originally scoffed at the idea (he’s a real industry professional, you know). But since his daughter uses this one every morning for her own coffee, even with a fancy espresso machine at home, he’s come around: “She broke me down over time and I must admit, the results are pretty good after a little lighthearted practice.” A similar recommendation I got for another handheld frother is this one , from Sarai Reed, the interior-design consultant behind Apron Saint . “I like that it’s lightweight and has a sleek stainless-steel design,” she says.

Best rechargeable milk frother

Golde Superwhisk

Steam creation: No | Frothing technology: USB-rechargeable

Golde, a Strategist - favorite brand for all things wellness, sells a rechargeable milk frother — another option I personally love. It looks and acts similarly to the battery-operated models above, but its power comes from plugging it into a USB. The handle is a long cylinder, which provides a comfortable grip. And the metal parts — the thin line that attaches the handle to the whisk and the whisk itself — are exceptionally sturdy. There are two speeds: what Golde calls “powerful” and “very powerful.” That’s an apt description — I tend to use the latter, but either way, the foam always turns out fluffy, never dense or stiff, and without large air bubbles. (Be careful not to fill your mug or glass more than 40 percent full with milk, the brand says, as it will splatter. I always eyeball it, and it’s fine.) Beyond the performance, my favorite feature is the cylindrical cap, which fits to fully cover the metal parts and clicks in securely with the handle. I have no counter space to spare, but this leaves the tool protected when I throw it in a drawer.

Best stovetop milk frother

Bellman Stovetop Steamer

Steam creation: Yes | Frother technology: Stovetop-operated

The closest you’re going to get to a milk frother attached to an espresso machine is the Bellman Stovetop Steamer, which “mimics a steam wand,” says Kyle Ramage, co-owner of Black & White Coffee Roasters in Raleigh, North Carolina. It’s quite an impressive contraption that uses the heat from a burner to build up steam pressure in a chamber filled with water. Once enough pressure has been created, you release it from an attached wand directly into a cup of milk. (There’s a video on their site if you want a visual.) The downside is that this whole process can take about 15 minutes. But if you really want to get as close to café-quality foam as possible — what the pros call “micro bubbles” and what Marco Suarez, one of the owners of Methodical Coffee in Greenville, South Carolina, says almost has the texture of paint — this is your best bet.

Best manual milk frother

Bodum Milk Frother

Steam creation: No | Frothing technology: Manual

I was surprised to hear nearly all of the experts I spoke with recommend a straight-up French press (the kind you make coffee in) or this Bodum Milk Frother that works in exactly the same way. “Just heat your milk to 130 to 140 degrees in the microwave, and then use the press plunger to texture it,” explains Nye. “There are plenty of videos online that show the technique.” In my own testing, I found it easy to get the hang of. I heated my milk over a low flame in a small pot on the stove for about five minutes (I didn’t take the exact temperature) and then frothed. There’s a line on the jug that shows you exactly where to fill the liquid to so you won’t spill, and the handle on the plunger is smooth and large enough to be comfortable to hold. After about 45 seconds of moving it up and down, it results in a nice foam. I was worried it would yield larger bubbles than desired, but I could both see and feel the liquid getting thicker as I went along, surprisingly similar in texture to that which the Golde whisk achieved. Ramage goes so far as to say he’s seen people pour impressive latte art with milk frothed in a French press, and it’s a method that Wong himself often uses at home.

The 9 Best Travel Bottle Warmers for Heating Up Your Baby’s Meals on the Go

Whether you’re heating up food on demand or want to have it pre-warmed and at the ready, one of these will help.

tommee tippee closer to nature portable travel baby bottle warmer, ember baby bottle system plus

If you buy something from the links on this page, we may earn a commission. Why Trust Us?

Historically, travel bottle warmers have been kind of hot garbage as far as utility and convenience. They often didn't get hot enough, or they got too hot and burned your hands. Either one is obviously not ideal. The travel warmers here are designed to make the best use of your time without hurting you or skimping out on warming the bottle.

The Best Travel Bottle Warmers

  • Best Overall: Baby's Brew
  • Gets the Job Done: Papablic Warmer
  • Best Multipurpose: Mercalon Warmer
  • Best for Parents Who Like Precision: Quark Buubi Warmer
  • For Ultimate Convenience: Baby Bottle System Plus

Whether the travel bottle warmer uses hot water to warm the bottle, or induction heat, the basic idea is the same — bring the bottle to a temperature that makes it more palatable for your baby, therefore making everyone's day better. (Nothing spoils a day out like a hungry baby.)

A few of the best electric bottle warmers here plug right into a USB or USB-C port, so if there's a charging station nearby, you're going to be able to heat up your little's bottle. Conveniently, the water bottle warmers just require hot water. Pro tip: A tall hot coffee works in a pinch.

The option you choose will likely depend on when you’re using it, how often you’re using it, and how much you want to spend. If you’re going to need it a lot, it makes sense to have a warmer that can go from the car to the office, and even the camper or campsite . In this case, a pricier model that’s more durable and has more bells and whistles (such as a timer and temperature selection) is the most viable. Water warmers are great, but they’re one-trick ponies. The Thermos types are wonderful for shorter day trips but can be tricky at the office, on vacation, or on road trips. And now with warmers like the Ember , which self-heats or the Quark bottle warmer, you can keep baby's bottle at-temperature for up to 10 hours at a time or set and forget, which is a real game changer.

Check out the best travel bottle warmers below so you can keep your babe’s milk at their ideal temperature, even when you’re far from the conveniences of home.

Portable Bottle Warmer Pro Set

Portable Bottle Warmer Pro Set

This cordless bottle warmer lets you choose from a list of presets how warm you want your little one’s food to be. The formula dispenser doles out enough for one scoop of formula with each press of the button. Once the warmer is charged, you can easily heat up any standard baby bottle.

We love this bottle warmer for its convenience and reliability. “I’ve tried other portable rechargeable bottle warmers,” one of our testers said. “Not only were they confusing, but they also took forever to warm up a bottle. The Baby’s Brew is easy to use, accurate, and holds its charge perfectly.”

Mini Portable Travel Baby Bottle Warmer

Mini Portable Travel Baby Bottle Warmer

When hunger strikes for your little one, the easy-to-use Papablic Mini Bottle Warmer warms up milk quickly. Fill the spillproof insulated bottle with hot water, and when it's time to eat, pour the water into the container and plop the bottle inside. The highest-rated bottle warmer on our list, this bottle really seals in the heat. And the vacuum lid is easy to open and close, unlike with the Tommee Tippee.

It's affordable, easy to use, and honestly? It's just a great value. It may not be as fancy as others on this list, but it gets the job done and doesn't ding your budget.

Baby Bottle System Plus

Baby Bottle System Plus

I love my Ember coffee mug and warmer more than words can say, so when I heard that they were making a self-warming baby bottle set, I was all over it. It's not just for travel, either. It's great for home, too. The Ember baby bottle system takes away the chore of heating bottles wherever you are.

It's a one-click, rechargeable, base with thermal dome, power adapter, two 6-ounce baby bottles, two level-two nipples, two level-three nipples, and two adapters.

In minutes, it brings baby's bottle to body temperature, no matter where you are, and the dome keeps baby's bottle cool for up to 4 hours until you're ready to warm it up. You can track everything via their app, including how much your baby's eaten, how much they weigh, and more to get a complete picture of baby's habits.

Each charge lasts for two full warmings of their 6-ounce bottles. Worried about the nipple not being to your baby's liking? Don't worry, it comes with a top that holds the popular Dr. Brown's and Philips Avent nipples.

I do wish it came with larger and smaller bottles, and knowing Ember, they're probably working on that, but as it is right now, is still such a genius product.

Buubi Bottle Smart Portable Milk Warmer & Sterilizer - White

Buubi Bottle Smart Portable Milk Warmer & Sterilizer - White

When you think of baby bottles and warmers, chic is probably not a descriptor you're used to using. However, the Quark Buubi is just that. I was instantly impressed by the look of it, but then when I used it, I was in love. Not only did this rechargeable bottle warmer heat up the formula in a hurry, it kept it warm for hours, allowing me a long stretch of time to be out with baby testing baby strollers.

It's a pour bottle, so you don't put the whole bottle in it and warm that, instead, think of it like a little saucepan for the formula that you pour into your own bottle. The digital interface allows you to choose the temperature your baby prefers, making it astonishingly easy to control.

Bottle Warmer for Travel

Bottle Warmer for Travel

One of my favorites for the combination of value and usefulness, this bottle warmer gets bonus points for its many options for the temperature you’d like the formula or milk to be. And if you’re thinking long-term, it’s great for adults, too, as it will heat liquid to 212 degrees Fahrenheit. Say you order your coffee or tea extra hot; this Mercalon will keep it there. It's a great gift for busy parents since our coffee is usually cold by the time we get a minute to actually drink it. It has a built-in 9,000-mAh battery, which has enough juice to heat 5-ounce bottles five to 10 times or keep one warm up to 12 hours. It does this for all under $60,

Kozii Voyager

Kozii Voyager

This travel bottle warmer set by Kiinde requires you to fill the stainless-steel bottle with hot water ahead of time. But because of that, you don’t need access to power or even batteries to heat up your baby’s milk.

Having tested this bottle, we can say that it’s impressively quick if the water is super hot. However, if you’ve been storing the water for 6 or more hours, the bottle won’t keep it as hot, leading to less effective warming when it comes time to eat. The baristas at Starbucks did fill it with hot water from their tap for free, though.

That being said, it's the most-intuitive to operate of all of the warmers on our list, and dozens of parents have recommended it to me over the years.

Travel Bottle & Food Warmer Set

Travel Bottle & Food Warmer Set

Like the Kiinde above, this set from Tommee Tippee requires that you fill the flask with hot water before leaving home, and it'll stay warm all day. The wide-mouthed container accommodates jarred and pouched baby food for feeding older tots.

This bottle keeps water warm much longer than the Kiinde, but we found it to be more fiddly. It’s not always the easiest to get the lid back on so that it won’t leak, and you definitely can’t do it with one hand. "This warmer has truly been a game-changer for me. Out of all the portable warmers I've come across, this one stands unparalleled, especially considering its price point," says one 5-star reviewer.

Baby Bottle Smart Warming Bowl

Baby Bottle Smart Warming Bowl

The Nanobebe Smart Baby Bottle Warmer heats up your baby’s supper quickly—within minutes—and evenly to prevent hot spots and the loss of nutrients. This no-fuss travel bottle warmer just requires hot water.

This is a great option if you have access to hot water. But it’s not spillproof and requires you to carry hot water in a separate bottle or get it while you’re out, which might not be ideal. That being said, it works really well, and also fairly quickly. I find it's a great "hotel warmer."

Multi-Function Waterproof Travel Bag With Bottle Warmer

Multi-Function Waterproof Travel Bag With Bottle Warmer

This backpack is a diaper bag , a purse, and a bottle warmer all in one. You do need your own portable charger to power the bottle-warming sleeve, so factor that into the cost if you don’t already have one. But for the versatility, this is a great value.

You can heat up your baby’s bottle as you stroll through the park or take a walk around town and have it ready to deploy right when you need it. Parents rave that this diaper bag is an excellent value. Not only is the warmer convenient, but the pack is large and its nylon looks fabulous.

5 Simple Ways To Heat Water While Traveling

travel milk boiler

It’s challenging to choose the right kitchenware to carry, especially when packing light for camping or long road trips. While some items like propane stoves and stackable cookware are obvious selections, one might struggle to know which devices to carry that can help heat water. So, what are the best ways you can heat water while traveling?

Here are 5 simple ways to heat water while traveling:

  • Use a camping stove.
  • Heat water with an electric kettle.
  • Use an immersion water heater.
  • Pack a portable backpacking stove.
  • Use a car electric water heater.

If you love to hit the road and are curious about some of the ways you can heat water while traveling, then you couldn’t be in a better place. Read on as I highlight some simple but effective ways to heat water and enjoy your cup of coffee, tea, or food!

1. Use a Camping Stove

A camping stove is one of those must-have appliances for camping enthusiasts.

These devices come in different sizes, making them ideal for outdoor adventures. The best part? Camping stoves use a variety of energy sources, which makes them highly convenient if you plan to ditch your car for a couple of hours or even days.

Therefore, if you’re looking for a convenient way to heat water while traveling, then a camping stove can come in handy.

These devices also come with additional features depending on the brand (and budget), improving your experience when traveling long distances. You can find multi-burner, rapid-boil, and pocket-sized models, making them as versatile as your trips are! Plus, they’re portable and easy to set up.

They have many features that allow you to ditch electricity and prepare a nice cup of coffee or boil drinking water obtained from natural sources.

Best Camping Stoves for Traveling

Here are the best stoves for traveling available on Amazon.com:

Youtian Camping Stove

The Youtian Portable Single Burner Cylinder Stove is a great way to heat water when traveling. Not only is this bad boy extremely portable, but it also comes with instant ignition and is easy to use. The camping stove can last for 2 hours on a single 8.8 oz (249.48 g) cylinder.

Another central selling point of this portable camping stove by Youtian is its wind protection feature that allows your water to boil regardless of whether it’s windy or not. It’s also safe for use as it features a safety lock, an automatic safety shut-off, and a canister ejection device– no more worrying about leakages!

Coleman Gas Camping Stove

If you’re looking for more cooking power, then the Coleman 2 burner gas camping stove might float your boat. This advanced gas camping stove can manage an impressive 22,000 BTUs and boasts five adjustable burners that give you more flexibility in temperature control.

Wind-blocking panels and a pressure regulator make it easy to heat your water even in poor weather or extreme conditions. The device is easy to clean as it features a chrome-plated grate designed to serve you for many years, courtesy of its aluminum cooktop (rust-resistant).

2. Heat Water With an Electric Kettle

It’s impossible to discuss simple ways to heat water while traveling without mentioning an electric kettle . These devices are ideal for making coffee and boiling water– or even heating water to prepare other meals fast.

Put simply, it’s a must-have device for RVers or campers– basically, anyone who fancies spending time on the road.

When choosing electric kettles for travel, it’s highly advisable to go for compact and light options. Such devices allow you to save on space, which can be at a premium when packing light is the order of the day . You should also be on the lookout for whether the product is made of food-grade material, though, just to be on the safe side!

Best Electric Kettles for Traveling

Here are the best electric kettles for traveling available on Amazon.com:

Ultrathin Foldable Kettle

If the goal is to pack light for your travels , then you might want to consider the ultrathin travel foldable electric kettle. This electric Kettle is small in size and collapsible, making it suitable for traveling.

The device comes with a knob to choose your preferred temperature for boiling water, heating coffee, preparing noodles, or keeping tea warm.

There is no need to worry about safety issues. The device is made of food-grade material and comes packed with extra safety features like dry boil protection, overheat safeguards, and auto shutoffs. The portable electric kettle can boil 0.6 L (0.16 gal) of water at a time and is dual voltage, a feature that increases compatibility regardless of where your travels take you.

Roadfare Collapsible Kettle

The Roadfare collapsible kettle for RV camping is a premium electric device that, besides heating your water, also keeps it warm to suit your preferences. You’ll also be glad to learn the travel kettle folds up compactly to the size of a burger and comes with a lightweight storage bag for added convenience.

The collapsible electric kettle by Roadfare is designed to prevent leakages, breaking, and overheating, meaning it’s likely to serve you for several years. It’s also made of food-grade (odorless) silicon material, making it perfectly safe for regular use.

3. Use an Immersion Water Heater

An immersion water heater is an excellent alternative to electric kettles. Not only are they small in size, but they’re also lighter compared to electric kettles, which makes them ideal for backpacking . Although the risk of burns is high with immersion water heaters, they tend to boil water in minutes, which can come in handy when on the road.

When using an immersion water heater, remember to observe safety rules. First, go through the user manual to know the dos and don’ts. You should also use these devices with glass, earthenware, porcelain, or ceramic containers for the best results.

Best Immersion Heaters for Traveling

Here are the best immersion heaters for traveling available on Amazon.com:

Diximus Immersion Water Heater

The Diximus dual voltage travel immersion water heater is a handy electric device that’ll have your water boiling in just minutes. To use the device, you’ll only need to fill your container with water before dropping the heater in.

Impressively, the device features a dual voltage system and includes a European adaptor for your international travel needs. The device also comes with a travel pouch that allows for comfortable carrying. The Diximus immersion water heater’s coil is made from stainless steel, too, making it resistant to damage.

Lewis N. Clark Portable Immersion Water Heater

The Lewis N Clark portable immersion water heater comes in two colors and is designed to warm water in seconds and boil in minutes.

For increased convenience, the immersion water heater is powered with a dual voltage system (120V for the US and 240V for Europe) and comes with a European adapter (and a travel pouch).

I also like that the immersion water heater features a durable burn guard that protects your bowls, cups, and coffee mug. The burn guard ensures the heating coils don’t come into contact with the sides of your containers or mugs. In addition, the compact, portable and lightweight nature of this device makes it an excellent option for traveling.

4. Pack a Portable Backpacking Stove

Backpacking stoves are camping stoves, but they’re a lot more portable.

These devices come with incredible power and can boil water in slightly under two minutes (depending on the brand), making them one of the best ways to heat water during travel.

Of course, you have to be extra careful when choosing a backpacking stove as they come in many designs and use different energy sources.

For instance, canister stoves are arguably the most common and easiest-to-use stoves. Liquid fuel stoves are ideal when traveling to high-altitude areas or locations with freezing temperatures. Wood stoves can also get the job done but aren’t suitable if you’ll be traveling to places without much tree cover.

Best Portable Backpacking Stoves

Here are the best portable backpacking stoves for traveling available on Amazon.com:

Jetboil Backpacking Stove

The Jetboil flash camping and backpacking stove, as the name suggests, is designed to heat items at jet-like speeds. Impressively, this bad boy can boil water in 100 seconds, making it your ultimate companion for outdoor adventures and long-distance travels. It also comes with an insulated cooking cup that keeps your heated water warm.

You can also take advantage of accessories (although sold separately) like the coffee press, pot support, cooking port, hanging kit, and skillet to make your cooking experience smoother and more enjoyable. With this device, you won’t need to second guess if the water is ready, courtesy of its color-changing heat indicator.

Sabre Camping Stove System

The Sabre ultralight camping stove system was designed with convenience in mind as it features a tripod (for stability) and a durable carriage bag for ease of transportation. This camping stove is easy to use as you’ll only need to attach a canister, open the valve, and light it up by pressing the igniter button.

The stove system also comes with a non-stick aluminum pot with folding handles, making it even more portable and easy to bring along on your outdoor adventures. You’ll love this backpacking stove if you’re tight on space or just want something easy to carry and set up.

Although it won’t boil water in 100 seconds like more powerful stoves, it provides a simple, hassle-free way to prepare your coffee or warm water when out on the road.

5. Use a Car Electric Water Heater

When embarking on long road trips , it’s always best to have convenient devices that can make your trip a lot more enjoyable and, at times, bearable. Car electric water heaters can help you do just that!

By drawing power from your car, these devices can heat your water, allowing you to enjoy that cup of coffee or hot tea that you so badly crave in the wilderness when car-camping, living in a van or RV, or simply taking a long drive.

The good news is you can plug in water heaters and immersion heaters in your car and enjoy a hot mug of coffee.

Be warned, though. These devices can cause injury if not used with care, especially when driving on tricky terrain. However, they do come with several advantages, top of the list being you won’t have to set them up outside the car to put them to use– you just plug them in, and you’re good to go!

Best Car Electric Water Heaters

Here are the best car electric water heaters for traveling available on Amazon.com:

Fdit Portable Car Electric Kettle

Some situations (like when traveling with a baby) can’t wait for you to stop and set up a canister backpacking stove. The Fdit Portable Car Electric Kettle allows you to heat water when on the road, effectively eliminating the need for alternative water heaters.

With a 1000 ml (33.81 oz) capacity, you can count on the Fdit portable car electric kettle to settle all your water heating needs when on the road. The device supports 12V and 24V and is designed to power off once the temperature reaches 248°F (120°C).

Bizofft Water Heater

The Bizofft Car Immersion Water Heater is made of engineered plastic materials and stainless steel. The device is corrosion-resistant, and you can directly plug it into a 12V or 24V lighter socket. As a highly portable and lightweight electrical device, you won’t need to create space to store it in your car.

Impressively, this water heater by Bizoft comes with a 12-month warranty and a 60-day refund for factory faults.

Please note that although the device is designed with safety in mind, you should be extra careful to avoid spillage as it can cause severe burns. This car immersion water heater is an excellent option if you want an easy-to-carry device that won’t take up much of your storage space.

What Is the Best Way To Heat Water While Traveling?

There’s no best way to heat water while traveling, as it all comes down to personal preferences. However, some methods are more versatile than others.

The best way to heat water while traveling is to use a portable backpacking stove or camping stove since they are small and don’t rely on electricity to work. However, an electric car water heater might be better if you spend a lot of time driving in your car.

You can also settle for devices like electric kettles, which work best for RVers. An immersion water heater can get the job done, too, but you’ll need to be extra careful to avoid spillage. High-quality water heating products not only tend to last long, but they’re also a lot safer than their cheaper counterparts.
