Three of the Premier League’s biggest clubs are coming back to the United States this summer.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool all announced on Friday that they will be heading to the U.S. in the summer of 2024 as they prepare for the 2024-25 campaign.

Arsenal and Manchester United both visited the U.S. last summer, while Liverpool will be returning for the first time since 2019.

The teams announced three total games on Friday, with more set to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Arsenal will play against Manchester United at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on July 27. The Gunners will then face Liverpool at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on July 31.

Manchester United will also take on Liverpool at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina on August 3. It will be the first major soccer match held at the home of the University of South Carolina football team.

Last summer , Arsenal faced United at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, and also played Barcelona at SoFi Stadium. The Gunners kicked off their USA tour in Washington D.C. as the opponent in the 2023 MLS All-Star Game.

“We know how great SoFi Stadium is after our sold-out match there last year. The facilities are incredible and we’re excited to return. We look forward to making further announcements about our trip soon,” said Gunners sporting director Edu.

“We are proud to announce our highly anticipated return to the USA, providing a great environment for the squad to prepare for the season ahead,” added Liverpool’s commercial director Ben Latty.

2024 USA Tour tickets now on sale

We’re heading to the USA again this summer where we’ll face Manchester United and Liverpool as part of our preparations for the 2024/25 season.

First up, we'll play Manchester United at SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles, on July 27. This will be the second time we’ll have faced each other on American soil, with the same fixture last July selling out the 80,000-capacity MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.  

In another high-profile game, we’ll travel to Philadelphia where we’ll play Liverpool at Lincoln Financial Field on July 31. This will be the first time we’ll have played each other in the US.

The rumors are true.

Liverpool FC announced on Friday that they are indeed returning to the United States on a preseason tour which will see them visit two cities on the east coast of the country and face Manchester United and Arsenal. This will be the first time the club has traveled to the US since 2019, when they visited Indiana, Boston, and New York.

The Reds will first face Arsenal on July 31st in Philadephia, Pennsylvania at Lincoln Financial Field, and then Manchester United in Columbia, South Carolina on August 2nd. Considering the weather was a factor in some performances that last time they were in the States, this writer couldn’t begin to fathom what would make them think playing in South Carolina in August is a good idea.

This will also likely be the first chance for American fans to get a glimpse at the new manager, whoever they turn out to be.

Tickets are set to go on sale on Tuesday, February 27th to the general public, with all information available on the club’s website.

Liverpool tickets for US tour: Schedule, dates, host cities

L iverpool will return to the United States for preseason play after a five-year hiatus, and you can purchase tickets to that US tour. For the first time since 2019, the Reds will be returning to the United States this year after visiting Asia for two consecutive summers. 

Jurgen Klopp said that this season will be his last at Anfield . So naturally, the Anfield side will have a new manager to supervise preseason preparations. 

There will probably be a slew of Liverpool players who are running behind schedule in preseason due to the summer tournaments. The United States trip occurs a little more than two weeks before the start of the Premier League season, which begins on August 17. After that, the new season begins. 

Tickets to Liverpool and its US tour

Official tickets will shortly be available via Ticketmaster and Liverpool. However, these three games are now available via Vivid Seats. • Liverpool vs Real Betis – July 26, 7:30 PM – Pittsburgh, PA: Tickets .

• Manchester United vs Liverpool – August 3, 7:30 PM – Columbia, SC: Tickets .

Liverpool makes its return to the United States against Spanish side Real Betis. With the game in Pittsburgh, Liverpool will make a home out of Pennsylvania upon its arrival in the USA. Acrisure Stadium, the home of the NFL’s Pittsbrugh Steelers, welcomes the two teams for its first soccer game since an International Champions Cup game in 2018. That featured Benfica playing Borussia Dortmund.

On July 31, the Reds will face Arsenal in the second match. Lincoln Financial Field is in Philadelphia and will serve as the site. The stadium has hosted several significant soccer matches, despite Liverpool’s lack of experience playing there.

The Philadelphia Eagles play their home games in the stadium. Lincoln Financial Field is a premier soccer venue, having hosted the Gold Cup, friendly matches, and the 2026 World Cup. 

On August 3, the team will face Manchester United in their next match. Then, the first-ever professional soccer match will be held at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina. The South Carolina Gamecocks play their Southeastern Conference football home games here.

There won’t be quite so much intensity during the friendly versus Manchester United. However, the stadium, which can house around 80,000 people, is perfect for soccer. 

What Liverpool said about games

Besides the three matches, Liverpool may decide to add one or two more games. It is common for European teams to schedule three or even four friendly matches.

In 2019, Jurgen Klopp’s squad competed in a total of three clashes. Among the places they visited were Boston, New York City and Indiana. On the club’s official website , Liverpool commercial director Ben Latty made the following statement:

Date of Liverpool USA summer tour return revealed

Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan provided a significant indication regarding the club’s potential for a preseason summer tour in the USA.

Plans for next year’s preseason are already in the works. They include what may be Liverpool ‘s first trip to the United States in five years. The last time the Reds came to the United States was in 2019.

Despite doing training camps in Austria, the Reds spent the last two preseasons in Singapore. However, a voyage over the Atlantic looks set to be in the near future.

When planning for the 2024-25 offseason, Liverpool’s CEO Billy Hogan suggested the club would go to the USA. He told The Athletic that he is seriously considering a North American tour in 2024.

“It’s not set yet, but it’s definitely on the table,” Hogan said.

Liverpool has not done summer tour in USA since 2019

Liverpool has a massive following of American supporters. When the Reds came Stateside in 2019, they went to Indiana, Boston and New York. That season, the club won the Premier League. Even though COVID-19 eliminated a summer tour in the summer of 2020, Liverpool squeezed in a quick trip to Austria.

In fact, they even managed to repeat it the following year before heading to Evian, France. Last summer, Jurgen Klopp and his players went on tour to Singapore, Germany, and Austria. The team switched their pre-season dates this time around, going to Germany before Singapore.

Will USA host Premier League games?

Meanwhile, there is no foreseeable end in sight for American soccer fans eager to watch the Premier League in their own country. This past month, 270,000 people who went to see teams like Chelsea , Newcastle, Brighton, Aston Villa, Brentford and Fulham play in this year’s Premier League Summer Series.

But Premier League chief executive Richard Masters recently claimed there is now no chance of a competitive top-flight game taking place in the United States. “I don’t think we’re really any nearer a game abroad. It’s not part of current plans,” he told  The Athletic this Wednesday.

Liverpool’s tour of South-East Asia represented its first pre-season voyage abroad for three years. This was due to the effects of the global pandemic, with tours cancelled in the summer of 2020 and 2021.

The trip took them to Thailand and Singapore before a return to Europe.

There has been speculation that the club will return to the US this coming summer, with Liverpool last seen on American shores in the summer of 2019.

Club CEO Billy Hogan gave an insight into the club’s thinking as pertains to the next pre-season tour last summer.

“We are already starting to look are where we could go next year,” he said to the ECHO last summer.

“Asia has always had a massive Liverpool supporter base, and it’s a big place so there are lots of places to go.

“We’ve looked at a number of different markets. North America is another one and the US is a partner that continues to grow.”

So with an American tour possible, what happened the last time the Reds went Stateside?

Liverpool arrived in the US as Champions League winners, having seen off Tottenham in the final in Madrid two months earlier. Its first game of the tour happened in Notre Dame, when Jürgen Klopp’s side lost 3-2 to his old team Borussia Dortmund in a thrilling encounter with over 40,000 people in attendance.

That game was also significant in that it saw Borussia Dortmund start fresh-faced academy wonderkid Gio Reyna, who has since gone on to become part of the USMNT.

Just 24 hours later, Liverpool played again. This time, the game was held in Boston, the home of club owners FSG, as the Reds lost to Sevilla 2-1 at Fenway Park.

The final game of the tour came in the Bronx in New York, where Gini Wijnaldum and Divock Origi scored in a 2-2 draw against Portuguese outfit Sporting at Yankee Stadium. Liverpool concluded their tour without winning a single game.

But it mattered little in the end, as Liverpool went on to end its 30-year wait for a league title by the end of the 2019-20 season. Still, it will be hoping for better if it tours the US again — and might want to keep a closer eye out for potential USMNT wonderkids.

Liverpool's men's and women's teams touched down in Boston on Saturday to begin the second leg of their United States pre-season tour.

A two-hour flight from Indiana carried the players to the next stop on their trip - where the Reds will face Sevilla on Sunday evening and LFC Women are in action on Monday.

Jürgen Klopp and his squad are set to hold an open training session at Fenway Park from 5pm local time, the venue for their clash with the La Liga side.
