Ricardo Arjona born Edgar Ricardo Arjona Morales is a Guatemalan singer-songwriter and one of the most successful Latin American artists of all time.

Born on the 19th January 1964 in Jocotenango, Sacatepéquez, Guatemala, Arjona’s early life was spent playing basketball for the National Team touring around Central America and teaching in a primary school.

At the age of 21 Arjona signed with the label PolyGram through which he released his debut album “Déjame Decir Que Te Amo” in 1985, and who keyholed the singer as a stereotypical Latin-lover. Unsurprisingly the album failed. Three years later when Arjona was 24 he represented Guatemala in the OTI Festival performing the song “Con Una Estrella En El Vientre” which led to the release of his second album “Jesús, Verbo No Sustantivo” which brought Arjona significant commercial success becoming a best-seller in many Central American territories.

Ricardo Arjona is highly respected in Latin American music due to his socially conscious approach to songwriting. Highlighting the inequalities of capitalism and imperialism and addressing issues such as love, sexuality, racism, violence and immigration among many others, leading to Arjona long been referred to as a protest singer. After enjoying consistent commercial success under the Song BMG record label Arjona signed a long-term deal with Warner Music Latina in late 2008.

The Guatemalan has released a total of 14 studio albums, four of which have top the Billboard Top Latin Album Chart including the thirteen-platinum album “Tropico” and the double platinum album “Santo Pecado”, one live album , nine compilation albums and no fewer than forty-three singles. His music has earned the singer a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album for “Adentro” in 2007, a Latin Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Album also for Adentro in 2006, as well as a Rafael Álvarez Ovalle Order from the then President of Guatemala, Ramiro de León Carpio, for his international accomplishments.

Ricardo Arjona live is a visually impressive, fun, exciting show. The concert I was at had a large TV screen playing 3D animated footage of roads and other things that made one feel as if they were on a roller coaster ride of a concert.

As one of the most successful Latin artists of all time he doesn't have to try, but he still does and we should all be thankful for it. As one poppy Latin song comes to an end he belts out notes very few artists could make sound good and moves on to slow, haunting Latin ballads.In these he stares into the souls of his audience. He shows them his soul and they show him theirs. The audience sways with the rock ballad guitar playing just loudly enough to accentuate his lyrics of life and love.

Ricardo pulls no punches even with all of his success. He just keeps getting better and better. The lights flicker and the audience sings along to the ballads they all know, until the very last note is struck and they all cheer...and then the encore, slower, softer, and even more lovely. There is nothing quite like Ricardo Arjona live singing directly to your soul.

Edgar Ricardo Arjona Morales better known by his stage name of Ricardo Arjona is one of Guatemala's most well known musicians with his unique take on latin pop. It is incredible to think that his first album was released three decades ago, and since then Ricardo has seen his reputation grow substantially.

He is an unashamed showman and this confident persona goes down fantastically with his loyal fan base. He struts onto the stage in time to the brass introduction of 'A la luna en bicicleta' and this confirms to the audience that they are in for quite a show. The cheers are deafening and Arjona approaches the microphone with a bold grin and says his first thank you of the evening before strumming the guitar introduction of 'Acompáñame a ester solo'.

The audience cheers him on continuously during complex instrumentals and huge versions of his pop classics. The whole show is a visual experience and the crowd leaves the venue safe in the knowledge they have witnessed the very highest calibre of latino pop music.

Just awesome! He was so engaded with public. I was close enough to make eye contact with him a couple times. Show is great. Sang beautifully and included a lot of the most popular songs. Defiantly recommend it. Loved it all the way.

Amazing voice...best talent...he sang and sang non stop like 17 songs in total....I recommended 100%...people were all in that sang and he pick someone from the public kiss her respectfully and sang to her very nice class

The most amazing show I’ve ever attended!! The Microsoft Theatre was very clean and staff was professional and friendly! Ricardo Arjona is a crowd pleaser and had everyone on their feet all night!!

Super fun concert !! He had circus acts behind him it was super cool to see . Most of all to be able to share it with my mom and enjoy the same music was the highlight of it all .we sing so much!

Tickets for the second North American leg of Ricardo Arjona ‘s Viaje Tour went on sale Thursday (June 11) in anticipation of the 12-show stint that kicks off August 7 with back-to-back shows in San Juan’s Coliseo de Puerto Rico.

Arjona opened up the new shows after registering one of the most successful Latin tours in recent memory.

Ricardo Arjona Leads Hot Tours Roundup With Stateside Trek

In North America alone, he notched the second highest-grossing Latin tour of the year so far, according to Boxscore, second only to Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull .  Arjona’s 19 North American shows so far this year (including 13 in the U.S.) grossed $12.2 million; Iglesias and Pitbull grossed $15.1 million from 15 reported shows.

In South America, Arjona played for over 1 million people in Argentina (including a record-breaking 200,000 at Geba stadium in Buenos Aires), Uruguay, Mexico, Paraguay, Panamá, Costa Rica, Chile, Ecuador, Venezuela, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua.

The feat is all the more remarkable because Viaje , which debuted last year at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart, is an independent effort, released on Arjona’s own label.

While everyone looked to follow popular trends in music, Ricardo Arjona chose his own path and ventured out to the legendary Abbey Road studios to produce 24 original songs. Once again, contradicting everything that exists in music in Spanish and reinforcing more than ever what he knows how to do best.

Ricardo Arjona, Prolific Latin Pop Star, Says He Will Stop Touring

The Guatemalan singer-songwriter, 59, said that his latest performance in Chile would be his last after struggling with back issues that made it difficult to stand and perform.

Ricardo Arjona, the Guatemalan singer and songwriter known for dozens of Latin pop ballads that became international hits over a career that spanned more than 30 years, said he would stop touring, citing back problems and an imminent surgery.

Arjona, 59, wrote in social media posts on Sunday that he would stop performing on his “Blanco y Negro” tour after a show in Santiago, Chile, though his statement fell short of announcing a retirement.

“I’ll have to disappear to invent a reason that’s bigger than this,” he wrote in Spanish. “If I can’t find it, I prefer not to return.”

Arjona said he had received “six spinal infiltrations,” also known as epidural injections, over the past two months to be able to stand during his concerts, and to delay surgery. Before he performed on Saturday, Arjona said he wasn’t sure if he would be able to take a step. His “Blanco y Negro” tour, which began last year in Buenos Aires, included dozens of shows, with several stops in Mexico, Costa Rica and Guatemala. The North American leg of the tour this year included stops at Madison Square Garden in New York, as well as dozens of other cities across the United States.

“I came from dear Argentina, which gave me songs in the street and gave me a glory that I did not deserve,” he said. “I say goodbye in this Chile of so many stories and affections.”

The tour highlighted two of his albums: “Blanco,” which was released in 2020, and “Negro,” which came out in 2021. Over the course of a career that has spanned more than 30 years, Arjona has produced more than a dozen studio albums, which have earned him several awards and accolades, including the Billboard Latin music lifetime achievement award in 2017.

In 2006, Arjona won a Grammy Award for best Latin pop album and the Latin Grammy Award for best male pop vocal album for his album “Adentro.” As of December, Arjona’s music was drawing more than 8 million monthly listeners on Spotify .

Arjona began his musical career in the 1980s, and after his music didn’t initially attract many listeners, he briefly taught at a public school, he said in an interview in 2011 . He returned to music, and his career took off in the 1990s, when he released songs like “Historia de Taxi,” the tale of a taxi driver’s love affair. The song remains one of his most popular hits to date, having been played more than 158 million times on Spotify. Multiple other hits followed and ranked him on the top Latin music charts for his signature songs of romantic lyrics and inventive storytelling.

“Life and people have been immensely generous to this Guatemalan,” he wrote on social media, adding, “a public-school teacher, who by playing the guitar, adding some words and trying a melody, achieved a miracle that I never suspected.”

‘The Absence of Eden’ Review: Zoe Saldaña Stars in a Muted Directorial Debut from Husband Marco Perego

In subdued roles, a stellar cast — including Garrett Hedlund and Adria Arjona — lifts this sordid border drama about an empathetic ICE Agent and a woman escaping violence.

Two parallel but inevitably intersecting stories make up Italian-born director Marco Perego ‘s debut feature “ The Absence of Eden ,” a strikingly shot and superbly acted immigration drama. But for all its commendable on-screen elements, it’s the screenplay that Perego co-wrote with Rick Rapoza that falls short, traversing overly familiar and rather sordid tropes related to a divisive political issue. While the actors — led by Zoe Saldaña, who is also married to the director — give powerful portrayals that challenge the country’s anti-immigrant climate, but there’s little in the way of thematic novelty here. New ICE Agent Shipp (Garrett Hedlund), whose estranged father often leaves voice messages he never hears, has just moved to an unnamed border town. Though Shipp’s decision to join this line of work doesn’t stem from a strong ideological stance, his partner and friend Dobbins (Chris Coy) tries to instill in him a dehumanizing “us against them” mentality. As he settles into the dangers and moral conundrums of the job, it’s his romance with Yadira (Adria Arjona), a single mother of Mexican descent, that complicates matters. On the other side of the fence, Esmeralda (Saldaña), an exotic dancer forced to flee her hometown after a violent encounter with a client, embarks on the dangerous desert-crossing journey into the United States. Along the way, she becomes the de facto guardian for a young girl left alone. Once they arrive, Esmeralda agrees to take on an illicit job the smugglers offer her in order to preserve her safety and that of the child. In a mostly Spanish-language role, Saldaña convincingly communicates the perpetual distress of the experience, her facial expressions bearing a muted anguish. It’s a welcome display of vulnerability from a star best known for big-budget Hollywood outings. Perego demonstrates a strong cinematic voice through the film’s dreamlike atmosphere, evoking the characters’ sentiments instead of presenting them didactically. This ethereal, not-of-this-world mood is in major part the work of Argentine cinematographer Javier Julia (“Argentina, 1985”). With sumptuous interplay of composition, light, and delicate camera movement, Julia takes his time introducing us to new environments. While “Absence of Eden” lacks narrative originality, it often dazzles visually. Within this thoughtfully conceived milieu, Hedlund’s sorrowful stoicism commands attention. Shipp rarely speaks, and his guarded demeanor only breaks in the presence of Yadira. He hasn’t yet been corrupted by the agency’s toxic culture, so the film doesn’t need to humanize him, yet it does map his transition into becoming more like Dobbins. Perego has an affinity for moments showing his characters at their breaking point. A hard-to-stomach scene sees Saldaña’s Esmeralda screaming in desperation without making a sound — a prisoner trapped in a dreadful no-win arrangement. Another captures Yadira in tears, pleading to Shipp when her true identity is revealed. The actors’ performances in such moments elevate the piece. From the supporting players who aren’t first-language Spanish speakers, some dialogue sounds stilted in comparison to Saldaña and Arjona’s more natural fluidity. Given how many of these secondary characters are meant to be native speakers, this is a misstep that goes against the movie’s presumed desire for authenticity. That may go unnoticed by most American viewers, but the presence of drugs, human trafficking, and plenty of stereotypical Latino bad hombres will be recognizable to them, based on other projects set in this region. Still, Perego lands other meaningful points about the rampant xenophobia that fuels the immigration discourse. A scene halfway through, as Shipp’s relationship with Yadira deepens, shows Dobbins’ biases as standard for those in his department. When Dobbins hears Yadira speak Spanish at a Mexican restaurant, he instinctively questions where she was born, claiming it’s for the sake of getting to know her. Near the end of this downhearted saga, Esmeralda gives a speech, explanatory despite its poetic language, about the mistreatment of her people in this country — her fury even more palpable in her delivery than in the words themselves. By the time this conclusion arrives, the film’s threads don’t feel fully processed. But it’s highlights like this that give “The Absence of Eden” enough panache to serve as a strong calling card for Perego.

Listening to your favorite musician at home is fun, but there's nothing quite like the experience of singing along with them, and tons of more fans, live. And as luck would have it, 2024 is shaping up to be a massive year for some of the world's top musical acts, so chances are your favorite performer might be stopping at a city near you soon.

Ahead, we rounded up some of the biggest concert tours of 2024, ranging from Taylor Swift's mega-popular Eras Tour to Drake and J. Cole's exciting It's All A Blur Tour - Big as the What?—set to kick off this winter. You can also expect tour dates from classic icons like Stevie Nicks, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, and more.

1) Taylor Swift

Undoubtedly one of the biggest concert tours ever, Taylor Swift's Eras Tour will continue right through 2024. The international leg of the tour kicked off in Japan, where she played four shows in Tokyo. She'll also stop in Melbourne, Singapore, Paris, Madrid, London, Milan, and more before returning to the States to play in the fall.

There's nothing like seeing T. Swift IRL, but don't fret if you're unable to nab tickets—the Eras Tour movie is now available to stream from the comfort of your home.

2) Olivia Rodrigo

This is not a drill—"Drivers License" singer Olivia Rodrigo will be hitting the road on tour starting at the end of February. The Guts World Tour runs from February through mid-August and has dates in Nashville, Toronto, Chicago, and New York City, among others. Even cooler? Rodrigo will have a stacked list of special guests—like PinkPantheress, Remi Wolf, The Breeders, and Chappell Roan—with her.

3) Red Hot Chili Peppers

Did you hear the good news? The Red Hot Chili Peppers have extended their global tour through summer 2024. The buzzy stadium tour, which kicked off in June 2022, will now run until July 2024 and bring the California-based band to places like Los Angeles, Tampa, Toronto, and Salt Lake City.

4) Bad Bunny

It's fitting that "Monaco" rapper Bad Bunny titled his tour Most Wanted —it's slated to be one of the year's hottest tours. Planned to help promote his latest studio album, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana , Most Wanted will kick off in Salt Lake City on February 21 and run through May 26.

5) Billy Joel

If you haven't yet seen Billy Joel perform live, there's still time! The Piano Man has added more tour dates to his schedule, stopping in cities like Tampa, New York, Denver, and St. Louis this year. Even more exciting? He'll share the stage with fellow iconic performers Sting and Stevie Nicks for some of these dates.

Mitski recently announced that she's expanding her North American tour dates , and we couldn't be more excited. The months-long tour, which supports her 2023 studio album The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We, has a long list of stops, including Miami Beach, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, and Paris.

There's nothing quite like a Madonna concert, that's for sure. The singer's Celebration Tour , which started last October, continues straight through the spring with dates in Seattle, San Francisco, Mexico City, and more. Besides her eye-catching sets, chart-topping songs, and impressive choreography, concertgoers also get a glimpse of the performer's fantastic costumes, which include looks from Versace and Jean Paul Gaultier.

8) Bleachers

The New Jersey-founded rock band, which is fronted by Jack Antonoff—known for producing albums for top acts like Taylor Swift, Lorde, and Lana Del Rey—not only has announced a new album but a new tour , too. The tour will start in the UK in March, ending fittingly in the band's home state of New Jersey in mid-June. Check out their newly released music video for "Tiny Moves" if you need a Bleachers fix in the meantime.

9) Nicki Minaj

Nicki fans rejoice: the rapper and singer might be coming to a city near you soon as part of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour. The massive tour will include performances in Brooklyn, Oakland, and Baltimore, with stops at Dreamville Festival and Rolling Loud California along the way.

10) Blink 182

Live out all of your nineties and early aughts pop-punk dreams with one of Blink 182's One More Time Tour dates. The tour, which supports the band's ninth studio album, One More Time..., will bring the trio to cities all over the globe, including Sydney, Santiago, Portland, and Boston. The tour's supporting act is Pierce the Veil, which is also worth checking out.

11) Stevie Nicks

The oh-so-magical Stevie Nicks continues her touring streak with a bunch of 2024 concert dates . Set to begin in Atlantic City, NJ on February 10, Nicks will visit a dozen cities throughout the U.S. this year, such as New Orleans, Omaha, and Chicago. "Let's keep this party going in 2024," the singer-songwriter posted on her Instagram in September to announce the newly added tour dates.

12) The 1975

The 1975 is showing no signs of slowing down. The British band, famous for hits like "Somebody Else" and "Robbers," has extended their 2023 tour through 2024. Titled Still...At Their Very Best , the 22-date tour will open in Glasgow on February 8 and conclude in Amsterdam on March 24.

13) Drake and J. Cole

Rap greats Drake and J. Cole come together for the It's All a Blur Tour – Big As the What? which is guaranteed to be a good time. Drake, fresh off his 2023 It's All a Blur tour with 21 Savage, is set to hit dozens of cities starting in February, many of which J. Cole will also be in tow for. Scoop up tickets ASAP, as Drake's shows are known to sell out.

14) Janet Jackson

Superstar Janet Jackson is also extending her 2023 tour, Together Again , into 2024 with dates in Anaheim, Austin, New Orleans, and Hartford. Even cooler? Jackson's supporting act is the 2000s southern rap legend Nelly.

15) Rolling Stones

If you've ever dreamed of seeing the Rolling Stones perform live in person, now's your chance. The iconic rockers, who released their studio album Hackney Diamonds this past fall, are returning on the road for a 16-date tour with shows throughout the United States and Canada. Concertgoers can expect a mix of new tunes and Stones classics.

16) Bruce Springsteen

Famous for countless listenable hits like "Born to Run" and "Glory Days," Bruce Springsteen is set to embark on a massive world tour this year with his band, The E Street Band. The much-anticipated tour will take the Boss and his crew to cities such as Phoenix, San Diego, Dublin, and Madrid, from March through November.

17) John Mayer

Be sure to catch John Mayer's solo tour this year, which will bring the guitarist and crooner to cities throughout Europe. This leg, an extension of his popular 2023 solo tour, will kick off in Stockholm on March 13 and finish in Dublin on March 29.

18) Shania Twain

Okay, this one is technically a residency , but we're excited nonetheless. Shania Twain, most known for her incredible outfits (her hooded leopard print look, anyone?) and hits like "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" is setting up shop in Vegas starting May 10. Twain's residency will take place at the Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood on and off throughout December 2024.

All good things must come to an end. The Eagles, known for "Hotel California" and other amazing rock songs, began their final concert tour this winter. It launched in Phoenix on January 20, with March 16 as its last date in the United States. Eagles fans won't want to miss this one.

20) Alanis Morisette: The Triple Moon Tour

Alanis Morisette joins forces with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts for their 2024 Triple Moon Tour , which has dates in North America and Canada. This tour is a great one to catch this summer, as it's slated to run from June through August.

Heart Extends Massive 2024 Reunion Tour with Shows in Nashville, L.A., N.Y.C. and More — See the Dates!

The rock legends will be setting out on tour along with Cheap Trick, BTO featuring Randy Bachman and Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Evening

After a five year hiatus, allow Heart to go "Crazy on You" with their thrilling live show and long-awaited return to the stage!

The rockers previously announced they were setting out on a massive tour in 2024 — marking their reunion and first run of live shows since 2019 — and, on Tuesday, Heart revealed they're expanding the dates. The group helmed by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson will now continue their run, titled the Royal Flush Tour, across North America through the end of the year, along with an A-list slate of special guests.

While the "Barracuda" group's shows this year were originally set to kick off in late April and wrap up by September, they'll now be out on the road through the fall until mid-December.

Heart's 2024 tour kicks off on April 20 in Greenville, South Carolina, continues in the U.S. through May, before heading to Europe for a handful of dates in June and July. On July 30, they'll resume their North American leg in Columbus, Ohio, and then play through the rest of the summer and into the fall.

The newly announced dates begin on Sept. 26 in San Francisco and last until Dec. 15 in Las Vegas. Fans will be able to catch the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees at stadiums in major cities like Los Angeles, Houston, Nashville, New York City, Vancouver, San Diego and many others.

Throughout the Royal Flush Tour, the "Magic Man" band will be joined by fellow rock legends Cheap Trick, and select shows will also include support from BTO featuring Randy Bachman and Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Evening, the project from the son of the English rock group's original drummer.

The Wilson sisters shared a statement in press release about the upcoming concerts.

"We’re so excited to announce more tour dates," Ann, 73, said. “The exceptional talent of the band — Ryan, Ryan, Paul, Tony and Sean — brings a whole new level of energy to Heart’s live performance."

Nancy, 70, added, "I am incredibly proud of the show that we have crafted and am looking forward to reconnecting with even more fans. We can’t wait to share our music with everyone and celebrate the big electric energy of a completely live on the spot rock show."

The Royal Flush Tour comes after the rock favorites celebrated their 50th anniversary last year.

It also marks their first time out on the road together since 2019, when the "Alone" group set out on their Love Alive Tour. At the time, the shows saw the Wilsons coming back together after the two experience a brief rift. (In 2016, Ann's husband,  Dean Wetter, assaulted Nancy's then-16-year-old sons  after they reportedly left a tour bus door open, which he pleaded guilty to two non-felony assault charges.)

Both Ann and Nancy also recently took time to record their own solo efforts: Ann with Fierce Bliss in 2022 and Nancy with You and Me in 2021.

The two hitmakers have both explained to PEOPLE in interviews that taking time apart only makes their work together in Heart stronger.

"[Taking time apart] allows us to bring stuff back to Heart that we didn't have before," Ann said in a 2022 interview . "We love each other. She and I really look forward to smooth sailing."

Meanwhile, Nancy shared in a 2021 conversation that it was "so amazing" to get back out on the road together on their 2019 tour. "I could see that the Heart fans really loved the big spectacle aspects of the show — even if Ann didn't love the bubble machine I had requested," she said. "But most of all we saw how much the Heart fans loved the Heart sisters reunited."

While the previously announced concerts are already on sale , tickets for the fall dates go on sale later this week. Ticket sales kick off with a presale for Citi cardmembers, which lasts from now until Thursday at 10 p.m. local time. The general on-sale will then follow on Friday at 10 a.m. local time.
