Beware of the scam of MTS!

For our transportation from Cancun Airport to Hotel on 08/10/2023, I booked Mexico Travel Solutions (MTS) a few days back through Expedia, paid $76 (roundtrip) and confirmed with them ahead of time. On 08/10/2023, our AA flight from Miami to Cancun was 3 hours delayed, I called MTS twice and the last call from the plane just before the take off. Both times, MTS assured me that the shuttle will be at the airport waiting for us adding "We not gonna get anywhere without you"! MTS also said it goes by the flight number at Cancun Airport. Our flight landed about 11 pm (instead of 7:25 pm) We went outside and MTS was not there Other cab drives at the airport told us that MTS for some times and then left There were at least three other families booked MTS through Expedia and were left at the airport like us We ended up paying for another cab to the hotel that cost us $90, while we already paid $76 to the MTS I called MTS next day, they apologized saying they could not wait that late. And added that I need to deal with Expedia for refund Spoke to Expedia three times and they said MTS told them that I never called MTS notifying about the delay (I have the phone records of calling MTS) MTS also refused to approve any refund Expedia denied accountability saying it can not refund unless approve by MTS. Now you see the level of service you provide.

Everything was really nice. Bacalar was super beautiful and wonderful sailing on the catamaran. The ATV tour was the least of them all because it was short. But we do have nice pictures. With the holbox tour we passed very beautiful places and we got super tasty food. My compliments. It was beautiful.

Hired this company for R/T private transfer from/to Airport-Hotel. During reservation process using apps, I did explicitly request pick up at 3PM from hotel due to business commitment. Well this company unilaterally changed pick up time to 12:30PM based on their internal rules which based on my flight number, they decided a 3 1/2 hour pick up earlier. I found about this change when I called at 9AM (6 hours prior pick up time) to re-confirm pick up service at 3PM. Company operator (Frida) insisted that pick up time is 12:30 Pm per their “Policy” because my flight number and departure time require “3 1/2 hours” earlier!!!…. Beside my attempts trying to convince lady to change it back to 3PM, insisted this is private transfer service, request to talk with her supervisor (which she refused to transfer us too); I had no other option that hire hotel taxi at 3PM. For the records, hotel is barely 20min away from airport, I travel on business class so no need of extended line, I did pre-check online so I had my boarding pass plus no need to check bags!!!…. Bottom line, this company did not fulfilled their part of their contract and refused to refund half of the service. Avoid using scam services like this one, do not prepay R/T either. Thi

The worst experience ever. I booked my entire trip through Expedia and somehow this transportation company had the wrong hotel on file. They tried to drop me off at the wrong hotel but luckily the concierge quickly looked it up and directed us to the correct hotel. On the day of my departure, the driver, as I later found out, also went to the SAME wrong hotel. Once I was able to reach the dispatcher (took 2 calls and approx 10 min wait time), they blamed ME for not letting them know which hotel I was staying at (again, I booked the entire trip on Expedia and never changed my hotel). The dispatcher told me I was a no show and she refused to send another driver to the correct hotel and refused to issue a refund. I had to go through a painful refund claim with Expedia, who then tried to contact the vendor to authorize a refund. Expedia initially told me the vendor was not responsive and therefore I would not receive a refund. I had to escalate the issue with Expedia and threaten to file a complaint with Consumer Protection Bureau before my refund was finally approved. Bottom line: stay away from this horrible company Mexico Travel Solutions (aka Speedy Shuttle). Expedia needs to drop them from their website.

Great service to and from Airport. Have gotten them probably close to 6 arrivals. I did book them for a few hotel to hotel transports and I think they outsource these trips. My driver was 30 minutes late for hotel to hotel transfer. Fair priced and comfortable rides.

America's Marine Transportation System, or MTS, is expansive. It includes waterways, ports and land-side connections, moving people and goods to and from the water. At a glance, the MTS includes approximately:

• 25,000 miles of navigable channels
• 250 locks
• 3,500 marine terminals
• thousands of recreational marinas
• and the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway

Coordinating with those elements are approximately:

• 174,000 miles of rail connecting all 48 contiguous States, Canada and Mexico
• 45,000 miles of interstate highway and 115,000 miles of supporing roadways
• 1,400 designated intermodal connections

MTS Challenges

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the total value of marine freight increases significantly every decade, with ferry transport experiencing rapid growth in response to land-transport congestion and commercial fishing. Military operations are also using MTS facilities, waterways and resources more and more. These projected trade increases also increase demands on our MTS and must be safely handled and balanced with environmental values in order to ensure that freight and people move efficiently to, from and on our waterfronts. In fact, doing so is critical to our National and Economic Security -- about 99% of overseas trade enters or leaves the U.S. by ship. This waterborne cargo and associated activity contributes more than $500 billion dollars to the U.S. GDP, generates over $200 billion in annual port sector federal/state/local taxes and sustains over 10 million jobs. Which is why MARAD works constantly to improve the U.S. maritime transportation system, protect all MTS users and support higher levels of maritime traffic in the 21st century.

To accomplish this, the Maritime Administration, the U.S. Coast Guard and a dozen other Federal agencies have partnered with non-Federal stakeholders to promote a safe and environmentally-sound world-class marine transportation system that supports DOT's goal to reduce impediments to our MTS and secures U.S. economic and national security in the global market, specifically the Marine Transportation System National Advisory Committee (MTSNAC).

The MTS National Advisory Committee (MTSNAC)

Coordination, leadership, and cooperation are essential to addressing MTS challenges in manner that benefits all MTS users and stakeholders. Information must be shared among federal, regional and local agencies, as well as private sector owners and operators. MARAD's Marine Transportation System National Advisory Committee (MTSNAC), is a chartered, non-federal body that advises the U.S. Secretary of Transportation on all matters relating to the U.S. maritime transportation system and its seamless integration with other segments of the transportation system, including the viability of the U.S. Merchant Marine. The MTSNAC is comprised of dozens of leaders from commercial transportation firms, port and water stakeholders, labor, and Federal, state and local public entities. It does not exercise program management responsibilities and makes no decisions directly affecting the programs to which it provides advice, leaving policy and implementation responsibilities to the MARAD Administrator and Department of Transportation.

The MTSNAC was originally established in 1999 and mandated in 2007 by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007. The MTSNAC operates in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA). MTS-Sea Shipping Explained

Updated: Now we offer two types of MTS shipping options: MTS-Sea and MTS-Air. Your packages travel by vessels (MTS-Sea) or air flight (MTS-Air) and then get delivered locally. MTS-Sea is limited to the United States, while the MTS-Air is available for customers from the USA, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, the UAE, Iran, Vietnam, Taiwan, Russia, Ukraine.

Multimodal Transport Shipping (Sea), is a new shipping option with significantly lower fees compared to DHL, FedEx, and other time-sensitive cargo services. There are over 30 packages shipped via MTS-Sea to the USA from our Global warehouse on a daily basis - this latecomer has taken a major role during the coronavirus crisis.

The MTS-Sea option is currently for US customers only, and we will update as soon as it is available for other countries.

Why MTS-Sea?

In late April, our Global warehouse was confronted with unprecedented challenges (view more here ) since EMS air freight started to reject non-essential large-sized shipments, and the massively increasing demand for cargo aircraft resulted in heavy congestion nationwide. We were looking for a low-risk alternative to EMS to ensure the smooth flow of goods while keeping the fees acceptable for most customers.

MTS-Sea is the choice best suited to our needs - to ship a large number of products to the USA at a reasonable cost. As the name suggests, MTS-Sea makes use of several modes of transport including container ships and delivery trucks. Goods are carried to the Port of Los Angeles and then a local express company (FedEx or UPS) is responsible for delivery.

In mid-May when the new route proved stable and smooth, we knew that it was time to make it an option online for all customers located in the United States.

How Does It Work Specifically?

MTS-Sea is by far the most economical and one of the most carefree shipping methods we offer. Its shipping fee (tax included) is much lower than that of EMS, and no action is required by the customer - all of the clearance works are handled for you.

Note: We cannot ship via MTS-Sea to the areas with a zip code starting with 00, 96, or 99. Please contact us ([email protected]) for the recommended shipping methods if you live in these areas (Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, etc).

Due to the uncertainties in delivery, the actual transit time may vary. Please refer to the shipping time on the checkout page.

Package Tracking

When your package is picked up you will receive an email titled “Your Shipment Notification from Light Bicycle”.

In this email, we attach two URL links: one is a third-party platform for tracking until the goods arrive at LA, and the other is for the local delivery company (FedEx or UPS). Please note that the shipment information with UPS/FedEx will not update until it has cleared import customs and is handed over in LA.

Unfortunately, the Caribbean is not known for top-tier medical facilities. This means that medical air transport will be needed to fly you to another island or the United States for treatment. These flights can cost anywhere from $20,000 USD to $200,000 USD or more. Plus, most health insurance plans will cover little to nothing at all when it comes to your emergency transport bills.

MASA Assist provides coverage in all types of emergencies. If you or a family member needs medical air transport, we’ll fly you to the appropriate treatment center at no additional cost. Think of it like a physical and financial safety net. In all worst-case scenarios, we’ll get you the medical transport you need without the worry of bankruptcy or financial strain. Our family memberships cover your entire family with no deductibles, no out of pocket expenses and no questions about your health.

Yes. Most health insurance plans may cover little to nothing at all when it comes to your emergency transport bills. There are many dangerous gaps in modern health insurance and your lack of protection from excessive emergency bills is one of the worst.

The average cost for a retail air ambulance is $20,000 USD, but it can be as high as $200,000 USD or more. Even worse, most air ambulance companies will not transport you without upfront payment. Essentially, that means your health could be in danger without the right coverage. Also troubling is the fact that most health insurance plans will not fully cover these excessive charges. They also won’t pay for your transportation back home. Thankfully, a MASA Assist membership will cover all emergency air fees and provides a variety of additional benefits, free of charge.

The attending physician and MASA’s Medical Director will determine when you will be flown and to which appropriate hospital. These decisions are often made based on the medical specialists available for your specific condition. Once the decision is made, we will work out all the details and take care of the expenses after your insurance pays.

MASA Assist will return you to the airport nearest your permanent residence following hospitalization. The method of transportation will either be air ambulance or commercial flight, based on your specific circumstances. If you are hospitalized away from home for more than seven days, we will fly a friend or family member to your location (via round trip airfare), so that you don’t have to recover alone.

All MASA Assist Family Memberships cover you, your spouse and dependents up to a certain age. In the U.S. Virgin Islands, dependents up to the age of 26 will be covered under your membership. In the rest of the Caribbean, dependents 18 and under will be covered. If your dependents are enrolled in a recognized college or university, their coverage can be extended up to the age of 23.

Simply click here to find your local MASA Assist office or go for an in-person visit to talk with a representative and fill out an application form. Everyone is eligible for membership, regardless of age or medical conditions.

The basic coverage area for MASA Assist includes the Caribbean excluding Cuba, the Bahamas, and Bermuda, the United States, Canada, and Mexico. You do not need to submit an itinerary if you are traveling within these areas. However, if you are traveling outside these areas, you must submit a travel itinerary 10 days before your trip. By submitting a travel itinerary, you activate worldwide coverage for world medical transportation, pursuant to your Member Services Agreement. This allows us to prepare our staff and resources for the possibility of an emergency in those areas.

What Is an MTS File? How to Open It and How to Convert It?
