For Wildlife Lovers

For the nature-loving amongst us, you will not be disappointed on a trip to our Islands. With unique species to see, organised tours and birdwatching spots galore, there are many ways to go on a wildlife adventure.

Birdwatching

We have a huge number of birds that are resident to, or travel through, our Islands at all times of the year. Lihou Island, one of our RAMSAR sites, has over 150 species each year. The gannet colonies of Les Etacs and Ortac, situated just 100m from Alderney’s coastline, account for 2% of the world’s gannet population – a spectacular sight which can be seen during a boat or walking tour - and between mid-March and July a vast number of Puffins flock to our Islands to breed, mainly located on the Rocks off of Herm.

You can find out about birdwatching adventures here.

Unique Species

On an Island-hopping trip, you’re likely to see dolphins swimming in our waters or seals resting on rocks. On land, you will find the iconic Guernsey Cow, famous for the dairy they produce, the Guernsey vole, native only to Guernsey and the Orkneys, and the blonde hedgehogs and bats of Alderney, to name just a few.

To see all this wildlife, you can take a visit to one of our many nature reserves or take a wildlife walk to witness the beauty of nature.

You can also take a boat trip around the coasts of Herm and Jethou to get up close to the marine life that call these waters home or, alternatively, those seeking a more active experience can join Outdoor Guernsey on a kayak trip from Shell Beach on Herm .

island rib tours guernsey

Walking Festivals

Our spring and autumn walking festivals are a great way to see our Islands and have adventures on land. The tours are led by experienced guides who will take you to parts of our Islands that you may have never seen before.

Puffin Parade

The Puffin Parade is a fun challenge to explore and find the 60 handcrafted puffins on display at various places of interest around Guernsey. The handcrafted and painted Puffins will be on display until the end of August before they are auctioned off to raise money for Autism Guernsey and the GSPCA.

Archery, climbing and more with Outdoor Guernsey

With archery, climbing, clay pigeon shooting and more, Outdoor Guernsey has a range of exciting land activities that everyone can try their hand at. They also offer cycling tours , where one of their knowledgeable guides will take you around parts of the Island you may not have seen before.

Tornado Boats International was started in 1975 in England, and was one of the early pioneers in the development of the RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat). The first task was a boat for a marine survey company and the result, a 5.5m boat, was a great success; it was powered by a 50 HP motor (big at the time!) and attracted much interest. Even though the demand for more Tornados grew, there was at first reluctance to build more. Fortunately, the passion for design and a love of the sea won through and the decision was made to develop a production boat. A name was required due to a copy deadline for the first advert but an hour away, the name Tornado came to mind – and the Tornado was born. The rest is history.

What Our Clients Say

We pride ourselves on providing superior service but you don't just have to take our word for it. Just read some of the reviews that our clients left us on trip advisor and facebook.

Amazing Island Adventure.... A highlight of our holiday

Very well organised trip with fantastic views. Mario our guide was a true gem and we were amazed by not only the islands but dolphins and seals. Once out on the Ecrohous islands we had time for a swim and a quick snack before heading back to St Catherine's harbour where we were treated to a few fast spins in the boat. A truly memorable and value for money trip and strongly recommended.

RYA Powerboat level 2 tuition and assessment

I have used Island RIB Voyages several times over the past two years and have enjoyed trips to Carteret, Sark, Les Echreous and Herm. Fabulous every time. I have always fancied driving my own RIB. Imagine my delight when I spotted on their website that they have just become an accredited RYA training centre. Because I am retired I can be very flexible with my time and expressed my wish to take part straight away. Mario duly enrolled me in one of his earliest Powerboat 2 courses. I have to say it was absorbing and demanding but I felt that I came away with a sound grounding in how to drive a RIB. The course was delivered with a wealth of professional knowledge and fair and developmental encouragement, laced with great humour. It was a thoroughly enjoyable two days, full on. I learned something new at every stage, even though I have been boating all of my life.

'My cheeks hurt from smiling!' - aged 8

What a superb experience! Alongside the comment above my eight year old added that it was the best experience of her life and though I'm 40 I have to agree - it's certainly up there! We took the two hour trip to Ecrehous and - though it was interesting to see this island - by far and away the highlight was the boat. Travelling at speed with sharp turns as we headed home was amazing. It was lovely to see the seals and moreover - how special to see a few different pods of dolphins. Wow. The crew were just simply lovely. We had a party of 5 ranging from 8 to 70 and with all of us they were great. Thank you! I cannot recommend this more and would certainly repeat if we return to the island. I was nervous beforehand having never tried anything like this but I was so glad I did. Thank you island RIB voyages!

Ecrehous Islands Visit

One of our best trips out ever. Friendly crew, lovely boat with waterproof and life jacket provided, good saftey briefing. An exhilarating ride out to the Ecrehous Islands, where we spotted a number of seals swimming around and basking on the rocks. Crystal clear waters, allowed for a paddle or swim (we took wet suits as not so brave) so spent some time floating out with the running tide. The islands are also great to explore. Slightly odd to find someone playing the bagpipes, but it made for a lovely visit. So peaceful, felt like another planet On the way back we spotted a Pod of dolphins, so slowed and tracked them for a while. It was a mid size Pod with young and was amazing to see, especially when some of the adults decided to come and investigate the boat. Certainly one of my top 5 trips out ever, I would strongly recommend. Most likely my best trip ever in the Channel islands. Will be looking at other outings with them for the future.
