The “ Eras Tour ” is headed to Brazil Friday as part of its next stop around the globe.

Taylor Swift announced nine international dates in Latin America following her 52-date, 17-state-wide U.S. tour . The Latin America tour dates began Aug. 24 and will conclude on Nov. 26, as she makes stops in Mexico , Argentina and Brazil. Those who hope to see the Grammy Award-winning artist can still shop for last-minute tickets at VividSeats and StubHub for her upcoming shows in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

“Really thrilled to tell you this!! Mexico, Argentina and Brazil: We are bringing The Eras Tour to you this year!” Swift wrote on Instagram . Joining her will be fellow artist Sabrina Carpenter.

The tour features songs from her recent 10th studio album, “Midnights,” which launched back on Oct. 21 of 2022. International Swifties, are you ready for the “ Eras Tour ”?

Swift has announced eight international dates in South America as part of her sold out tour.

The new tour dates will take place from Aug. 24 to Nov. 26, and she will make stops in Mexico, Argentina and Brazil .

On her Instagram , Swift announced that Sabrina Carpenter will be joining her on the fall leg of the tour , and even promised to announce more international “Eras Tour” dates soon.

If you want to be able to secure tickets for Swift’s South America tour dates, here is how you can.

How to buy Taylor Swift concert tickets

For the “Eras Tour” fall tour dates, fans will have to register for Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan Sale now through June 7 at 11:59 p.m. CDMX.

A limited number of Verified Fans will get access to the sale, with priority to residents of Mexico, and others will be put on the waitlist.

Fans will receive an email the day prior to the sale letting them know if they were selected for the on sale or placed on the waitlist. If selected, they will then receive a purchase link.

If Swifties are unable to secure tickets during Ticketmasters Verified Fan Sale, they can also purchase tickets on the secondary market.

Fans can look to purchase tickets on StubHub , Vivid Seats , MegaSeats and TicketNetwork .

It’s common for speculative tickets to be available on the secondary market first, but tickets may be more expensive than the ones sold to the general public.

First-time Vivid Seats users can save $20 on ticket orders over $200 with promo code NJ20 at checkout.

TicketCity users can save $15 on orders over $400 using promo code TCITYSAVE15 at checkout.

Taylor Swift Announces New Eras Tour Dates in Latin America and Teases 'Lots' More International Shows

Taylor Swift will head to Mexico, Argentina and Brazil later this year with Sabrina Carpenter as her opening act

Are you ready for it? Taylor Swift 's Eras Tour is getting additional dates!

The "Karma" singer announced the first round of international dates on her sold-out tour Friday morning, sharing that she'll be stopping in Latin America for eight new shows.

Sabrina Carpenter , who released her latest album, Emails I Can't Send , last year, will join Swift on the road as her opening act .

"Really thrilled to tell you this!! Mexico, Argentina and Brazil: We are bringing The Eras Tour to you this year! Sweet angel princess @sabrinacarpenter will be joining us on all of the shows!" Swift wrote on social media. "Visit taylorswift.com/tour for more information on your registrations, pre-sales and on-sales."

The Grammy-winning star, 33, also teased that this will not be the end of her journey, writing, "LOTS more international dates to come soon, promise!"

Swift is currently midway through the U.S. dates of her Eras Tour, and will continue this weekend with three shows in Chicago. She kicked things off in March, and is set to wrap this leg in Los Angeles on Aug. 9.

Her shows have been star-studded affairs , with everyone from Miles Teller , Drew Barrymore , Reese Witherspoon and Paul Rudd stepping out to catch her three-hour-long sets.

She’s kept busy in between dates, and has been spotted multiple times at Electric Lady Studios in New York City. The "Anti-Hero" singer also recently released a deluxe version of her latest album, Midnights (Til Dawn Edition) , which includes a "Karma" remix featuring rapper Ice Spice, a new, longer version of “Snow on the Beach” with additional vocals from Lana Del Rey, plus "Hits Different," which was previously released as a Target exclusive track.

Swift is also gearing up for the July 7 release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) , which will include six brand-new songs from the vault.

For upcoming shows in Mexico, tickets will go on sale starting June 13 at 2 p.m. local time, and the verified fan registration is now open (fans that are residents of Mexico will be given priority for access to tickets).

The general on-sale date for the Argentina shows will start on June 6 at 10 a.m. local time, and ticket presales for Brazil will start the same day and time. The presale period will run until June 7 at 11:59.

Taylor Swift Bringing Eras Tour to Mexico, Argentina, Brazil 

The rolling phenomenon that is the Taylor Swift Eras Tour will open in Chicago tonight, but fans far south of the windy city are celebrating as well this weekend. Swift announced Friday that the tour will be heading to Mexico and at least two South American cities this year, with the promise that “additional international dates will be announced soon,” according to a post on social media.

Taylor Swift will perform three shows in Mexico City at Foro Sol, running August 24, 25, and 26. Her current North American plans run through five straight nights at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood California at the beginning of the same month. Dates for Argentina and Brazil were also announced Friday, taking place in November. Swift will perform at Estadio River Plate in Buenos Aires on November 9 and 10, then head to Rio de Janeiro for a November 18 show at Estadio Nilton Santos and then to Sao Paulo for shows on November 25 and 26 at Allianz Parque.

All eight dates will feature Sabrina Carpenter in support.

Tickets for the shows in Mexico are being put on sale beginning next week, with fans forced to register for Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan system if they hope to get through to purchase tickets during the initial sales period that begins on June 7. Details for the South American dates have not yet been announced. Details are available through Swift’s tour page on her website .

The ticket sales process for the massively popular tour has been enormously controversial the entire way, as Swift’s initial sales process for Eras Tour dates in the fall of 2022 was marred by terrible system meltdowns on Ticketmaster and the complete cancellation of any public general ticket sale. Since that point, Swift fans have filed lawsuits, and been subject to enormous stress as shows have approached, due to Ticketmaster releasing small batches of held-back tickets throughout the days and weeks as shows approached, creating an ecosystem of eagle-eyed fans on social media alerting others when tickets are dripped out, only to be scooped up almost immediately by fans hoping to attend.

As a result, ticket resale prices have remained sky-high for the entire tour, despite substantial inventory remaining unsold by tour operators until the moment the singer goes on stage. Tickets for Friday’s Eras Tour show at Soldier Field for example, are still unavailable for less than $850 less than eight hours to show time for members of Ticket Club, which is typically the least expensive ticket resale option for members due to it not charging service fees. Saturday’s show has a “get-in” price of just shy of $1,000 as of Friday at 1 p.m .

General on-sale for Argentina will begin Tuesday June 6 10am (local). Ticket presales For Brazil begin Tuesday June 6th 10am (local). Fans who purchased tickets for Taylor Swift’s concerts in Brazil that were canceled in 2020 due to the COVID 19 pandemic will have the opportunity to access an exclusive pre-sale for the purchase of tickets for The Eras Tour starting on June 6 at 10am local.

This presale period will run until Wednesday June 7 11:59 (local). Starting June 12 at 10am (local) while supplies last, the general public may be given an opportunity to purchase tickets if currently available inventory remains following the pre-sales.

Last week, Taylor shared exciting updates to two Midnights songs. She recruited  Ice Spice for a new version of “Karma” and offered up an updated version of “Snow on the Beach” subtitled “(Featuring More Lana Del Rey ), which stars Lana more prominently in the mix. “I’m enchanted to announce my next tour: Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour, a journey through the musical eras of my career (past and present!),” Taylor wrote in her official tour announcement. “I can’t WAIT to see your gorgeous faces out there. It’s been a long time coming 🥰.”

The announcement comes after Taylor teased a potential tour during her October 24, 2022 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon . When Jimmy says she hasn’t toured in four years and that fans want her to, Taylor said “I think I should do it.” And do it, she will.

When and where did Taylor Swift’s tour start?

The North American leg of the Eras Stadium Tour kicked off at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on March 17, 2023. The city of Glendale fully embraced the honor of hosting her first Eras concert — in fact, Mayor Jerry P. Weiers of Glendale even declared that the city would temporarily be renamed Swift City for the duration of Taylor's performances on March 17th and 18th.

Mayor Weiers gave the official announcement at a press conference and made sure to incorporate plenty of T. Swift-themed puns, noting that all Swifties are encouraged to share their smiles “that could light up this whole town” on all social media platforms because “the best people in life are free.”

The U.S. Eras tour will end with a grand finale at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California on August 9, 2023.

Which cities is Taylor Swift playing the Eras Tour?

After kicking off the tour in Glendale, Arizona, Taylor hit a ton of different cities in the U.S., from Foxborough, Massachusetts to East Rutherford, New Jersey. She initially shared the official tour dates on November 1, 2022, but she soon added eight more dates due to high demand (!!).

But, eight more shows still wasn’t enough due to increased demand, so Taylor Nation announced that 17 (!!) additional shows were added to the Eras Tour. “She gave us 8 shows last week, honey, but we want ‘em all. Due to unprecedented demand for tickets to #TSTheErasTour , Taylor has added 17 more shows in the US!,” her official fan club wrote.

And then, because Taylor is so good to us, she added one more new show in Los Angeles in the Sofi Stadium for September 7, 2023. See all her official tour dates listed below, including her incredible lineup of supporting acts.

Does Eras have international tour dates?

Yes! In June 2023, Taylor came through on her promise of crossing the pond. After the Latin American leg of the Eras Stadium Tour, Taylor will take the show to Asia, Australia, and Europe, starting February 7, 2024. She’ll begin with four shows in Toyko, and from there, will jet-set to major cities including Melbourne, Sydney, Singapore, Paris, Amsterdam, and London. But Taylor wasn’t done yet. Days after her initial announcement, the artist added one new show in Los Angeles and 8 news shows in the UK and Europe . Then, on July 5, she tossed 14 more European tour dates into the line-up, extending her stay in cities including Paris, Stockholm, Lisbon, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Dublin, Amsterdam, Milan, Warsaw, and Vienna. Has Taylor Swift made any special announcements during the Eras Stadium Tour?

Taylor went back to her roots for a three-night tour in her hometown of Nashville and kicked off her weekend-long stay by announcing the official release date for her third re-release, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) . (Funny enough, Speak Now was Taylor’s third studio album.) The Grammy winner later took to Instagram to celebrate the album's release.

“It fills me with such pride and joy to announce that my version of Speak Now will be out July 7 (just in time for July 9th, iykyk 😆),” she wrote. “I first made Speak Now, completely self-written, between the ages of 18 and 20. The songs that came from this time in my life were marked by their brutal honesty, unfiltered diaristic confessions and wild wistfulness. I love this album because it tells a tale of growing up, flailing, flying and crashing … and living to speak about it.”

Taylor also revealed that there will be new music released on the project as well. “With six extra songs I’ve sprung loose from the vault, I absolutely cannot wait to celebrate Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) with you on July 7th.”

How much is Taylor Swift expected to earn from the Eras Tour?

Taylor is raking in big coins courtesy of the Eras Stadium Tour. Bloomberg estimates that the Grammy winner could earn more than $10 million each night from ticket sales — but she isn’t the only one reaping the rewards of the tour.

According to the outlet, Eras could generate $5 billion (!) for local economies throughout the U.S., with an economic impact that’s reportedly greater than 50 countries. Bloomberg says a study from QuestionPro found that concertgoers spend an average of $1,327.74 on tickets, outfits and costumes, merchandise, food and drink, and travel combined.

Who are the opening acts for Taylor Swift’s Eras Stadium Tour?

Paramore (!!) has joined the tour. While announcing the 14 added European dates, Taylor shared that the pop-punk band will be her opening act. “I get to travel the world doing shows with @paramore!!,” Taylor wrote on Instagram. “@yelyahwilliams and I have been friends since we were teens in Nashville and now we get to frolic around the UK/Europe next summer??? I’m screaming???”

Sabrina Carpenter also recently announced that she’ll join Taylor’s Eras tour throughout Latin America. The “emails i can’t send” singer posted the official dates along with a screenshot of a 13-year-old tweet that read, “The Taylor Swift concert was amazing, had so much fun I cant wait to have a world tour someday like hers! lol with 2 sold out shows!!!!!” We’re not crying, you are. 🥹

Sabrina will be the special guest for Taylor’s Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico City performances from August 24 to November 26.

While most of Taylor’s opening acts and special guests are her friends and collaborators, there are also fresh, new artists who are getting their foot in the door with the honor of playing stadiums with Taylor Swift early in their careers. Taylor’s other supporting acts include Paramore, Haim, Pheobe Bridgers, Muna, Beabadoobee, Girl in Red, Gayle, Gracie Abrams, and Owenn.

How can I buy tickets for Taylor Swift's Eras Stadium Tour?

Following the TicketMaster debacle during the Verified Fan and Capital One pre-sales, Taylor’s team worked with the retailer to give Swifties good karma on Monday, December 12, 2022. Per NBC News , fans started receiving emails from TicketMaster that revealed they’d have a second chance at securing tickets to the Eras tour. “You were selected for this opportunity because you have been identified as a fan who received a boost during the Verified Fan presale but did not purchase tickets,” the email read. “We apologize for the difficulties you may have experienced, and have been asked by Taylor’s team to create this additional opportunity for you to purchase tickets.”

According to fans on Twitter, those who had received an official boost for the Verified Fan Pre-Sale but didn’t purchase tickets were granted an opportunity to buy a maximum of two due to high demand. Fans who received the message from TicketMaster received an individual invite to submit their purchase request before Friday, December 23, 2022. The retailer claims that invitations “will be staggered by tour dates in each city.”

For better chances of snagging a ticket, fans were instructed to register for TicketMaster’s Verified Fan program before November 9, 2022 to “ensure tickets get into the hands of fans.” The TicketMaster Verified Fan pre-sale took place on November 15, 2022, and due to unprecedented demand, tons of Swifties grew frustrated with the ticket-selling platform.

TicketMaster issued multiple statements during the chaotic Verified Fan pre-sale, which reportedly included queues of more than 20,000 people for some dates. Because of this “historically unprecedented demand,” the pre-sales scheduled for West Coast shows in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Santa Clara, and Seattle were postponed to 3 p.m. PST on November 15, 2022 instead of its original time of 10 a.m. PST. TicketMaster also rescheduled the Capital One card member pre-sale to November 16, 2022 at 2 P.M. local venue time.

According to TicketMaster’s official Twitter account, these are the best ticket-buying practices to ensure you secure a spot during the pre-sale.

On November 17, 2022, TicketMaster announced that the general ticket sale, which was scheduled to take place on Friday, November 18, 2022, was canceled due to “extraordinarily high demands.”

“Due to extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory to meet that demand, tomorrow's public on-sale for Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour has been canceled,” the company wrote on Twitter. Greg Maffei, the CEO of Liberty Media, the largest shareholder in concert promotion company Live Nation and its ticket-selling platform Ticketmaster, also told CNBC that 14 million people tried to purchase tickets for the tour when pre-sale was launched on Tuesday to 1.5 million verified fans.

SeatGeek’s website also reported that the general sale was canceled on their platform for the same reasons.

According to a report by Variety , ticket prices ranged from $49 up to $449, with VIP packages starting at $199 and going up to $899. Notably, this did not include a meet-and-greet package as Taylor's official fan club, Taylor Nation, tends to scout super fans on social media and in the crowds at shows to meet the star for no additional cost.

While Taylor hasn’t done any official meet and greets for the Eras tour yet, she did keep a sweet promise she made to Arizona teen Isabella McCune. In 2018, Isabella went through a tragic accident that left her hospitalized with burns that covered more than 65 percent of her body. She was only 8 years old at the time, and she couldn't attend Taylor’s Reputation Stadium Tour because of her hospitalization.

Per ABC 15 , Taylor visited her longtime fan at the time and left a note that read, “Isabelle, I hope you feel better soon. I'm so honored you've been listening to my music. You're so awesome and I can't wait to have you at a show. Stay strong, gorgeous. Love, Taylor.”

Now, 13-year-old Isabella had the chance to attend the opening night of Taylor’s Eras tour in Glendale, Arizona. “Not only the fact that I'm able to go and I got these tickets gifted to me, they're from Taylor Swift and her team and they remembered me and thought of me to give me these tickets,” Isabella told the local news affiliate, adding that Taylor's "music helped [her] a lot while I was in the hospital."

Has Taylor Swift addressed the TicketMaster debacle?

The singer-songwriter originally took to her Instagram Stories on November 18, 2022, to air her frustrations and share her disappointment in the ticket-buying process.

“It goes without saying that I'm extremely protective of my fans. We've been doing this for decades together and over the years, I've brought so many elements of my career in house,” Taylor began. “I've done this SPECIFICALLY to improve the quality of my fans' experience by doing it myself with my team who care as much about my fans as I do. It's really difficult for me to trust an outside entity with these relationships and loyalties, and excruciating for met to just watch mistakes happen with no recourse.”

“It's truly amazing that 2.4 million people got tickets, but it really pisses me off that a lot of them feel like they went through several bear attacks to get them,” she added.

During her Arlington, Texas show on March 31, Taylor swapped out “Invisible String” — which fans believe is about her former boyfriend of six years, Joe Alwyn — for a bittersweet breakup track off Folklore , “The 1.” The setlist switch-up came amid Tay’s breakup with the Conversations With Friends actor.

The opening track off her Grammy-winning album, Folklore , includes the following lyrics:

On the first night of the tour, Taylor revealed that she’ll perform not one, but two surprise songs during the acoustic portion of the show.

“The plan, the goal, would be to play different songs every single night and never repeat one. Right? This trio of Sao Paulo shows comes on the heels of Swift’s mini-residency at Rio de Janeiro’s Estadio Nilton Santos where she encountered tragedy; on Friday, Nov. 17, a young fan died due to extreme temperatures.

As a result, she postponed her Saturday concert.

“I’m writing this from my dressing room in the stadium. The decision has been made to postpone tonight’s show due to the extreme temperatures in Rio,” she shared via Instagram.

“The safety and well being of my fans, fellow performers, and crew has to and always will come first.”

According to  NPR , fans were not allowed to bring water into venue.

‘Taylor Swift law’ introduced to criminalize ticket scalping in Brazil

A Brazilian lawmaker has introduced a bill, nicknamed the Taylor Swift law, to address scalpers that many fans say have made obtaining legal tickets for the singer’s "Eras Tour" nearly impossible.  

Simone Marquetto, a member of the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies representing São Paulo, where Swift is playing three shows, introduced the bill last week that would criminalize ticket scalping with penalties of up to four years in prison and fees up to 100 times the original ticket price. 

“I have an 11-year-old at home, and this is all they’re talking about at school. I received many requests to do something and decided to present this bill,” she told the Brazilian newspaper Estadão .

In a social media post Tuesday, Marquetto said that she had obtained the necessary signatures to expedite her bill and would present it alongside the national secretary for consumer protection. 

Tickets for the Latin American branch of Swift’s tour have generated as much excitement and chaos as her U.S. run. Brazilian fans say online scalpers overwhelmed servers, pushing real fans to the end of the queues, and in-person scalpers turned violent in attempts to buy tickets for resale. On Tuesday, authorities detained at least 10 scalpers attempting to buy tickets at the box office, according to the Brazilian outlet Globo . 

The unprecedented demand for the tickets has gained attention from lawmakers around the world. 

The Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing in January to examine Ticketmaster’s monopoly over U.S. ticket sales after the company canceled its planned public sale, disappointing fans . Tickets for Brazil’s tour dates are sold through the entertainment company Tickets For Fun, which is not affiliated with Ticketmaster. 

And in Chile, President Gabriel Boric wrote to Swift asking her to consider adding Chile to her future tour dates, according to Billboard . 

Swift is scheduled to play eight shows in November across Mexico, Brazil and Argentina, including two nights in Rio de Janeiro and three in São Paulo. 

This week, the singer also announced 42 international tour dates in Europe, Asia and Australia, extending the global tour through 2024.

Taylor Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour’ Brazil Stop Had Over One Million People In The Pre-Sale Queue

Getting tickets for The Eras Tour hasn’t been easy for anyone. Ticketmaster had to cancel the general sale in the US after the pre-sale was flooded by an unexpected amount of users . “The site was supposed to be opened up for 1.5 million verified Taylor Swift fans,” said Liberty Media CEO and Live Nation chairman Greg Maffei. “We had 14 million people hit the site, including bots — another story — which are not supposed to be there.”

It’s not getting any easier. The “Anti-Hero” singer revealed Latin America dates just the other week, kicking off in August in Mexico and ending in Brazil in November. The pre-sale was this morning (June 9), and fans on Twitter are lamenting how difficult the queue was. Specifically for the concert in Brazil, there were over one million people on the website trying to get tickets. Swifties are both praising the pop star for her world domination, and, of course, complaining about how hard it is to see her live.

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — The deaths of two people, muggings and a dangerous heat wave left legions of Taylor Swift’s Brazilian fans angry and disappointed in the three-day Rio de Janeiro leg of the pop superstar’s Eras Tour, which concludes Monday night.

Gabriel Mongenot Santana Milhomem Santos, 25, a fan who had traveled from the country’s center-west region to see Swift, was stabbed to death on a Copacabana beach about 3 a.m. Monday, Rio’s police said in a statement.

It was the second death of a Swift fan in four days. On Friday, 23-year-old Ana Clara Benevides Machado fell ill during the singer’s first show in the city, and died later that evening at a hospital.

Fans also reported fainting from extreme heat , being mugged or getting caught up in a police raid.

Rio’s Municipal Health Department said Benevides, who, according to a friend, passed out during Swift’s second song, “Cruel Summer,” experienced cardiorespiratory arrest, but the exact cause of her death is not yet known. Rio’s Forensic Medical Institute examined the body Saturday and said additional laboratory tests had to be conducted, the online news site G1 reported.

In a statement posted on Instagram, Swift said Benevides’ death left her with a “shattered heart.”

Before the show Friday, fans lined up for hours outside the Nilton Santos Olympic Stadium where temperatures soared to 41 degrees Celsius (105 Fahrenheit), with a heat index of nearly 59 C (138 F). Inside the stadium, concertgoers complained of unbearable heat and some said they had difficulty getting access to water.

“I didn’t imagine that my dream could turn into a nightmare,” said fan Kléssia Menezes, who told R7 TV that she had gotten stuck with hundreds of other people on one of the ramps to a VIP area Saturday as security officers blocked the entrance.

Once security let them through, she said, people started running and she fell on a hot metallic floor that burned her leg and back.

“They took me to the doctor ... and I saw that I wasn’t the only person to have fallen in this chaos,” she said. “Many people fell and burned themselves.”

Ultimately, that night’s show was postponed , after tens of thousands of fans had spent hours lining up in the heat. Swift announced on Instagram that it was necessary “due to the extreme temperatures in Rio.”

A fan who identified herself as Julia Alvarenga said she was upset that Swift didn’t decide to cancel earlier.

“My friend, can you see how much I’m sweating, how all the pores in my body are dilated from the sweat?” Alvarenga asked, visibly angry, in a video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. She then pointed to her waist, highlighting the extreme measures she had taken to attend a concert for which she knew she would stand in line for hours. “I’m wearing a diaper, a geriatric diaper,” she says, urging the artist to appear. “Come on stage, I want to see you!”

The postponement was followed by chaos outside the stadium. Under a light rain, a mass of concertgoers left the area, which is close to one of Rio’s working-class neighborhoods, known as favelas.

Videos shared on social media showed groups of pickpockets robbing fans of their belongings, scenes not so unusual to Rio residents, but far from the postcards many tourists have seen of the “cidade maravilhosa.”

Many took refuge inside a Burger King, ducking for cover under tables and behind the counter in the kitchen area. Heavily armed police raided the fast food restaurant’s basement as loud sirens blared and those stuck outside the restaurant shouted. Some of those who were able to escape in taxis were overcharged by the drivers.

Saturday’s show was postponed to Monday night, but many who had traveled from other regions of Brazil and outside the country had already made plans to leave earlier.

“We’re not going to be able to make it,” said Hely Olivares, a 41 year-old Venezuelan who had traveled from Panama. “A lot of people have wasted their journey.”

A year of the Eras Tour: A look back at Taylor Swift's record-breaking show

One year ago, the crowd in Glendale, Arizona, erupted into a massive cheer in State Farm Stadium when Lesley Gore's "You Don't Own Me" began playing and the backdrop screen transitioned to a countdown clock starting at 2:24.

None of the Swifties who traveled from all over the state of Arizona and the nation, dressed to the nines as one of her 10 eras, knew the tour would be three-plus hours. The fan screaming next to me from Pennsylvania who bought a ticket on StubHub.com for about $400 didn't know that we would go era-by-era through a 44-song track list. I don't think the singer, herself, knew when she hid inside a cleaning cart wheeled backstage, that her show would lead to a billion-dollar enterprise, Time magazine person of the year and an inundation of friendship bracelets. I didn't know the behemoth success following the Eras Tour star would send me packing from Phoenix to Nashville, Tennessee, to become the inaugural Taylor Swift reporter.

Swift's dancers flowed onto the stage through fog with pink, purple and orange parachute flaps. A compilation of songs from Swift's 10 albums — or eras — played as "it's been a long time coming" boomed into the stadium. Goosebumps covered the arms of thousands and tears cascaded down cheeks as the flaps revealed Miss Americana rising to begin her "Lover" set.

Eighty three shows later, here's a look back at the unprecedented tour that set a Guinness World Record . And fair warning, like her tour this article is an extensive rollercoaster.

Swept up in the hype, the world became Taylor Nation. Glendale, "Erazona ," was renamed "Swift City." Las Vegas lit up its arches in all 10 era colors. Arlington, Texas, dubbed one of its streets "Taylor Swift Way." Tampa, Florida, gave Swift a key to the city and invited her to be an honorary mayor. Houston renamed its venue "NRG Stadium (Taylor’s Version)."

Nashville, Tennessee, dedicated a bench in Centennial Park to the hometown singer. A Philadelphia radio station, 96.5 FM (WTDY), renamed itself Ninety-Swift-Five W-T-A-Y. Gov. Philip D. Murphy dubbed the "Taylor Swift ham, egg and cheese sandwich" the "state sandwich of New Jersey." Chicago lit up the top of Willis Tower in her album colors. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey renamed his city "Swiftie-apolis," and Santa Clara, California, Mayor Lisa Gillmor switched the city's name to "Swiftie Clara."

Internationally, fans in Brazil caught the attention of Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Paes and Father Omar, the rector of the Christ the Redeemer Sanctuary, who arranged to project a  "Junior Jewels" inspired T-shirt  onto the Christ the Redeemer statue. Flinders Station in Melbourne , Australia, flashed a wallpaper glaze of lights to welcome the Eras star. Singapore painted the Marina Bay Sands Resort all colors of vibrant lights.

It's a cruel summer with you

All four seasons met the fifteen dancers, four backup singers, six bandmates and hundreds of production and crew members, adding unpredictable weather to the mix. Mother Nature danced in a lightning storm to "Fearless" in Tampa and made the song "Midnight Rain" a reality in Nashville . Rain poured through the open-roofed stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, where Swift pushed puddles forming on her piano . The Swiftie fandom created its own natural phenomenon in Seattle after a seismologist registered a 2.3 magnitude earthquake on her Richter scale.

The intense heat in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, caused Swift to throw water bottles to fans and temporarily halt her show. Ana Clara Benevides Machado, 23, passed out and died of heat exhaustion. The heartbreaking news prompted changes at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos to allow fans access to water. Swift invited Benevides' family to her concert in São Paulo.

I want you to think of the memories made

Swift incorporated custom messages into each tour stop. At her international destinations, she welcomed fans in their custom languages. "Bienvenidos al Eras Tour," she said in Mexico City before hoisting her hands in the air. While donning either her pink or blue guitar before the title track of "Lover," she commonly announced the stadium attendance often record-breaking.

Outside of stadiums, thousands "Taylorgated," or showed up without a ticket to hear Swift's beats and dance on the concrete. Tens of thousands more logged on to watch livestreams from fans with tickets who agreed to spend concert time holding up their mobile devices in a tricep-burning position.

The number of viewers would jump before the "Champagne Problems" speech and acoustic set. To keep things fun and interesting each night, fans filled out "Swiftball" ballots guessing the singer's outfits from four "Lover" bodysuits and accompanying "The Man" jackets, three "Fearless" dresses, two "Evermore" dresses, six "Speak Now" gowns, three bedazzled "22" shirts, five "Folkore" dresses, four "1989" crop top and skirt combos, six "Midnights" T-shirt dresses, three "Midnight Rain" body suits and four "Karma" faux fur jackets. For fans who wanted to get alerts to watch the shows without having to calculate time changes, Swift Alert became the app for that .

Double clap, audience chants

A secret language formed between fans and Swift as new traditions popped up along the tour. The four lines fans screamed at the top of their lungs, no matter the city or country, were "cause shade never made anybody less gay" in "You Need To Calm Down," "what a shame she's f----d in the head" in "Champagne Problems," "f--- the patriarchy" in "All Too Well (10 Minute Version)" and "don't call me kid, don't call me baby" in "Illicit Affairs."

Swift started every show strong with a very important question: Did her fans know the bridge to "Cruel Summer?" "Prove it!" she'd yell at some stops and the audience would, every single time, bellow, "I'm drunk in the back of the car." For "The Archer," fans printed and dispersed signs that read, "We will stay," to hold up when Swift asks, "Who would stay?"

In the "Fearless" era, fans double clapped with "13" drawn on the back of their hands in the middle of the bridge to "You Belong With Me." A trend of marriage proposals during "Love Story" picked up during the 2024 leg with partners popping the question as Swift sang, "He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring."

During "Marjorie," Swifties turned their phone flashlights on in tribute to Swift's grandma. Fans started timing the standing ovation and ear-shattering applause after "Champagne Problems." Livestreamers, like Tess Bohne , would display a clock and fans guessed if the cheers would surpass one, two or three minutes.

A snake shape slithered through the light-up braceklets handed out before the show at the start of the "Reputation" era. Fans yelled "1, 2, 3, let's go b----" before the first verse of "Delicate" as Swift counts on her fingers. Later in the song, Swift sings, "Do the girls back home touch you like I do?" and fans reply, "No, they don't." On rare occasion, Swift would let out a three-note riff during her "Don't Blame Me" belt.

After rereleasing her third album, the "Speak Now" singer added "Long Live" to the set list, bringing the total to 45 tracks. In the first verse when she croons "the crowds and stands went wild," the crowd indeed went wild.

In the "Red" era, Swift crowned a deserving fan with a black fedora during "22." They were typically children, but one adult Swiftie was crowned in Melbourne . Dancer Kameron Saunders had the only speaking line on the tour besides Swift during her song "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." He said "like ever" at the American shows, but when the tour went international, he switched up the phrase each night. And yes, we track that. Swift knew all too well each crowd had "10 minutes to spare," and she played her longest song, in total, for about 14 hours.

She was only tied to the "Invisible String" for five shows and traded the opening "Folklore" era number to "The 1" in Arlington, before news of her split from actor Joe Alwyn . She brought "Invisible String" back for one night in Nashville because the Tennessee capital is home to Centennial Park. Nashvillians also noticed that Swift switched a note during "The 1" lyric "you meet a woman on the internet and take her home." She kept the key change for every succeeding show.

Right before the first lyric of "Style" during the "1989" set, fans began a tradition of saying, "What time is it?" to which the singer replied, "Midnight, you come and pick me up." In Sydney, Australia, a "Blank Space" chant from the 1989 World Tour was reborn and repeated in Singapore. Taylor Nation, Swift's marketing team, tweeted that it hopes fans at every tour stop going forward shout their city. In Philadelphia, a "Bad Blood" remix originated when Swift noticed a security guard hassling a fan . "She's fine. She wasn't doing anything. Hey! Stop! Hey, stop!" became the cool thing to say after, "It's so sad to think about the good times, you and I." Fans also incorporated a Kendrick Lamar line from the "Bad Blood" remix: "You forgive, you forget, but you never let it go."

And then came the surprise set . (More on her collaborators and announcements below.) Each night, Swift performed one song on the guitar and one on the piano that she hadn't yet performed on the tour. That is until 2024, when she added mashups and threw out her rule of never repeating songs. At the end of the set, she swan dives into a hole in the stage. Fans later caught a red light that turned green to signal it was safe to jump.

After meeting her at "Midnights," fans sang Jack Antonoff's version of "Anti-Hero." When Swift sings "tale as old as time," the crowd chimes in, "Taylor, you'll be fine." Tyler Conroy made a viral video of him screaming , "Where you going Taylor?" during "Bejeweled" before she sings, "I'm going out tonight," and the trend caught on like a blaze ripping through the Lover house. Finally, after Swift changed the lyrics to, "Karma is the guy on the Chiefs," in Argentina with her boyfriend Travis Kelce in the crowd, that became the standard for fans. She has only sang it that way four times, when he was in attendance in Buenos Aires, Sydney and Singapore.

If you would direct your attention to the back screen

In addition to boosting economies everywhere she went, Swift created an abundance of news. She announced "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" in Nashville. She announced a new version of "Midnights" and premiered the "Karma (Remix)" music video featuring Ice Spice as the upstart rapper joined Swift in East Rutherford, New Jersey. She released "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" right before her Kansas City, Missouri, stop and then debuted the "I Can See You" music video starring Taylor Lautner and Joey King who were at the show. Lautner backflipped on the catwalk.

It might have seemed strange that Swift ended the American leg of her tour on a Wednesday in Los Angeles, but not to the eagle-eyed Swiftie who realized the date was 8/9. That's the day she announced the rerecording of her fifth album, "1989 (Taylor's Version)." The album came out during her break before her Argentina tour dates. It topped the Billboard charts and allowed her to bypass Elvis for the most weeks with an album at No. 1.

Then, she announced her 11th album, "The Tortured Poets Department," at the Grammys after winning her 13th career award. At her tour stops in Melbourne, Sydney and Singapore, she revealed there were four total versions of "Tortured Poets" and told fans they would get a different bonus track on each one : "The Manuscript," "The Bolter," "The Albatross" and "The Black Dog."

Welcome to the acoustic set

One of the most anticipated portions of an Eras Tour show is the acoustic set. At most of the concerts, she only spoke before the guitar song. In rare instances, she tested the microphone before the piano song and made an announcement.

Occasionally she invited collaborators to join her onstage. Marcus Mumford surprised fans in Las Vegas to play "Cowboy Like Me." Her co-producer and close friend Aaron Dessner from The National joined her six times on stage, in Tampa (twice), Nashville, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Santa Clara. Jack Antonoff came out to play "Getaway Car" in New Jersey. Maren Morris did a "You All Over Me" duet in Chicago. When their opening acts were canceled for weather, Gracie Abrams performed "I Miss You, I'm Sorry" and Sabrina Carpenter sang a dyad mashup of "White Horse" and "Coney Island."

Some of the surprise songs came with hidden messages. Fans speculated she sang "Bigger Than The Whole Sky" as an ode to a fan who died , "End Game" to Travis Kelce watching her show from the VIP tent and "Gold Rush" as a congratulations to Jason Kelce for retiring. She has performed "You're On Your Own Kid" five times, in Tampa, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Tokyo and Singapore.

And he never thinks of me, except when I'm on TV

To close out the first year of the Eras Tour, Swift released the third film version of her concert to streaming service Disney+. This version included "Cardigan" and four acoustic songs: "Maroon," "Death By A Thousand Cuts," "You Are In Love" and "I Can See You."

The second version came out on Swift's birthday, Dec. 13. Fans could rent it for 48 hours at a price of $19.89, and it included "The Archer," "Wildest Dreams" and "Long Live" cut from the original movie.

The original movie was released Oct. 13, in the middle of the Hollywood strikes. Swift did what studios and streaming services were unable to: make a deal with SAG-AFTRA. She worked with the unions and was able to market and show her movie how she saw fit. The film made more than $250 million globally and got her nominated for a Golden Globe award .

If you're still with me on this walk down Eras Tour Lane, it's important to make one final note before the tour resumes in Paris in May. Before her magnum opus took off higher than the "Bad Blood" flames, Swift chose "Mirrorball" and "Tim McGraw" to be her very first surprise songs. She ended year one with the same two songs, but flipped the instruments she played them on in a full-circle moment.

Her new album will come out April 19 and the full Eras Tour is streaming on Disney+, which begs the question: What her show will look like come Paris? She has a two-month break before 69 shows scheduled for Europe and North America. She also has two rerecords left to release: "Reputation (Taylor's Version)" and her self-titled debut album.

If there's one thing any Swiftie knows, it's Taylor Swift's ability to make news and create lasting memories through her record-shattering tour. What a first year; on to year two!

Taylor Swift Adds Sixth Brazil Show Amid Ticket-Scalping Controversy

A Brazilian legislator has proposed a law with stiffer jail time and fines to crack down on scalpers, promoters and sponsors that allow reselling.

Taylor Swift added another show in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday, bringing the total Brazil concerts scheduled for The Eras Tour to six. Meanwhile, legislators in the country are scrambling to rein in rampant ticket scalping.

Brazilian fans, including many teenagers, waited in wintry lines overnight and scuffled with scalpers, with some reportedly receiving threats of violence by scalpers. Ultimately, most regular fans were denied tickets, which sold out in 40 minutes; online ticket lines had over 1.5 million people waiting before they opened officially. Consumer protection agents have removed about three dozen scalpers, and police have arrested at least a dozen people, according to Brazilian publication Folha De S. Paulo .

The chaos has led Swift to add three more shows in the country — and to initial action by legislators to try to crack down on scalping.

Congresswoman  Simone Marquetto  from São Paulo proposed a law this week — being dubbed the “Taylor Swift Law” — that would criminalize the selling of tickets by scalpers to protect consumers. In justifying her proposal, Marquetto refers to the Swift controversy, without mentioning the pop star’s name directly, according to the draft law submitted to congress. She is pushing for an urgent vote from Brazil’s full congress on the bill.

“To purchase tickets, consumers could go to the physical points of sale, or through the organizer’s website, but fans claim that unauthorized resellers purchased a large number of tickets, making it impossible to sell to other consumers,” Marquetto writes in her bill.

A law on the books since 1951 already prohibits “crime against consumers” in Brazil and requires jail time up to two years for offenders, although convictions are usually converted into community service.

The law Marquetto introduced would double jail time to a maximum of four years and make reselling for profit punishable by fines of 100 times the value of the ticket. In the case of Swift concerts in Brazil, fines could reach 600,000 reais ($125,500), according to online publication The Brazilian Report .

Marquetto’s bill also introduces the possibility of penalizing promoters and sponsors that are allowing scalping to occur. Her bill states that promoters, organizers or sponsors of an event could be fined twice as much as the actual “employee” doing the scalping.

“This crime is sometimes carried out with the consent of the promoter and even in conjunction with scalpers,” Marquetto writes in her bill. “Event promoters must take responsibility for the sale of their tickets and act to curb the actions of scalpers.”

Another legislator, Pedro Aihara from Minas Gerais, has proposed a new law targeting online “digital scalping.” And Erika Hilton , another member of congress from São Paulo, has called on the São Paulo attorney general’s office to investigate the ticket sales for Swift’s shows.

Three law enforcement agencies have formed a joint operation with 50 police officers to combat ticket scalping around the Allianz Parque stadium in São Paulo where physical sales of Swift tickets have been taking place. Authorities questioned 25 suspects who were later released, according to a report by Showmetech, a Brazilian technology site.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) will be available to stream exclusively on Disney+. The streaming edition will feature five songs that weren’t included in the theatrical or digital versions. Below, discover what time the concert film will arrive on Disney’s streaming platform .

“‘The Eras Tour’ has been a true phenomenon that has and continues to thrill fans around the world, and we are very excited to bring this electrifying concert to audiences whenever they want, exclusively on Disney+,” Disney CEO Bob Iger said on the company’s earning call revealing the news, according to Variety .

The film’s streaming rights were expected to be a “hot commodity,” according to The Hollywood Reporter , which reported that “practically every major service throwing their hat in the ring and entering into conversations with team Swift.” At the time, Swift’s team was allegedly waiting for the SAG-AFTRA strike to end to begin negotiations.

Almost a month after the strikes ended, The Eras Tour concert film was released digitally on December 13 (Swift’s 34th birthday). “Well, so, basically I have a birthday coming up and I was thinking a fun way to celebrate the year we’ve had together would be to make The Eras Tour Concert Film available for you to watch at home!” the singer wrote via Instagram on November 27. The extended digital version included bonus tracks “Wildest Dreams,” “The Archer” and “Long Live.”

Disney+ is also home to Swift’s music documentary Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions , which features performances of each song from the surprise album released during COVID-19 quarantine in 2020. The intimate virtual concert debuted on Disney+ on November 25, 2020.

To watch Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version), you’ll need a Disney+ subscription , which starts at $7.99/month for the basic plan (with ads). The bonus tracks featured in Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor Version) on Disney+ are “Cardigan” and acoustic versions of “Maroon,” “Death by a Thousand Cuts,” “You Are in Love” and “I Can See You.”

“Cardigan” was revealed during the initial streaming announcement, while “Maroon” was unveiled when Disney+ dropped the official trailer for the Taylor’s Version concert film on March 4. Finally, Swift revealed the remaining three songs on Good Morning America this week leading up to the Disney+ debut.

The Eras Tour film earned more than $180 million in domestic sales and over $261 million globally at the box office, according to Box Office Mojo . The concert movie also helped Swift achieve her billionaire status . An estimated $35 million from the first two weeks of screenings added to the superstar’s billion-dollar fortune. Based on the singer’s AMC agreement, she earned 57% of ticket sales, while theaters kept the remaining 43% of revenues, per Variety .

The news of the concert movie’s streaming release came just a few days after Swift announced that her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, is coming on April 19. After revealing the news, Swift’s Instagram shared a photo of the album’s artwork with the caption: “All’s fair in love and poetry... New album THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. Out April 19 🤍.”

A few days later, Swift shared the album’s official tracklist, which includes collaborations with artists like Post Malone and Florence & The Machine.

Since this version of "The Eras Tour" movie is exclusive to Disney+ , you'll need a subscription to watch it in the US. Disney+ subscriptions start at just $7.99 per month for the basic tier. If you want to go ad-free, you can upgrade to the premium subscription at $13.99 per month.

Disney Plus offers on-demand access to tons of Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars content, including new original shows. This Premium plan offers ad-free playback and includes download and Dolby Atmos support.

For just $2 more, you can get the Disney+ and Hulu bundle at a monthly rate of $9.99. Ad-free duo plans go for $19.99 per month. There are multiple other bundles, including the Hulu + Live TV package, which includes Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+, and more than 95 live channels starting at $76.99 per month.

Hulu + Live TV includes over 90 channels, along with Hulu's on-demand library and access to Disney Plus and ESPN+. Adding live TV drives up the price significantly, but it's a rolling one-month contract that you're free to cancel at any time. As live TV cord-cutting cable replacement services go, though, this is one of the best.

"Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version)" will premiere on Disney+ on Thursday, March 14, at 9 p.m. ET / 1 a.m. GMT / 9 a.m. AWST. The film was initially slated for Friday in the US, but the release date was moved up a day.

Wasn't there already an extended edition of The Eras Tour concert film?

"The Eras Tour" concert film was made available to rent in December of last year through video-on-demand services like Apple TV+ and Prime Video, but the film is no longer available for rental in the US. The rental version was an extended version of the theatrical release, which included some songs that were missing from the initial release, like "Long Live," "The Archer," and "Wildest Dreams." "Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version)" will feature even more extras.

What extras are in the new extended version?

In addition to the full concert set list, "Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor's Version)" features an acoustic collection from the surprise song portion of the show. The acoustic collection starts at around 3:04:13 and comes post-credits, so make sure not to click away or auto-load to something else after the initial concert. The acoustic versions include "I Can See You," "Death by a Thousand Cuts," "Our Song," "You Are in Love," "Maroon," and "You're on Your Own, Kid." 

How to get tickets to The Eras Tour

While original standard tickets sold out for The Eras Tour long ago, you can check out websites like StubHub and Vivid Seats to look for resale tickets. Swift is heading out on her European tour soon and will return to North America for another leg of the tour later this year.

Last year, Swift released an approximately three-hour extended version of her blockbuster concert film , which is available to rent online for $19.89 on Prime Video (which offers exclusive bonus content), Apple TV and other transactional video-on-demand (TVOD) streaming platforms. It includes performances of “Long Live,” “The Archer” and “Wildest Dreams,” which were not in the theatrical run.

In addition to becoming the top-grossing concert movie of all time in North America, the AMC Theatres-distributed Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour earned a Golden Globe nomination for cinematic and box office achievement.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) will be available to stream on-demand on Disney+ on March 14 at 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET. Although the streamer doesn’t currently offer a free trial, Verizon Wireless subscribers with eligible Unlimited plans can get Disney+ for free for six months when they sign up by May 17 — so you can technically stream The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) online for free; learn more here .

Disney+ costs $7.99 per month for the ad-supported plan, but one of the best deals on the streamer is the Disney Bundle . New or returning subscribers save 44 percent off the Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu bundle compared to paying for each service separately. After breaking box office records in the fall, Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” film will finally stream on Disney+ this week with four bonus acoustic songs. The film was previously made available to rent digitally on the streamer in December, and will now arrive for streaming on March 14.

Since the “Eras Tour” film was shot during Swift’s three-night residency at L.A.’s SoFi Stadium, it was already expected that the other bonus tunes included would be the three remaining acoustic “surprise songs” she performed: “Death by a Thousand Cuts,” “You Are in Love” and “I Can See You.”

The film marks another historic milestone for the pop star, becoming the highest-grossing film in box office history among concert and documentary films. It earned more than $261.6 million globally, unseating previous record holder “Michael Jackson’s This Is It.”

Meanwhile, Swift is still traveling the world for her ongoing “Eras Tour,” during which she’s used the stages to make periodic announcements about her upcoming album”The Tortured Poets Department.” She’s announced four limited special editions of her upcoming album, each featuring a previously unannounced song and cover art. While those three special editions were only available for a limited time on Taylor Swift’s webstore, the Target-exclusive vinyl is  still available to pre-order on their website.

Taylor Swift is scheduled to hold nine consecutive shows in Canada this year as part of “The Eras Tour.” The tour, initially planned for Toronto and Vancouver from August 20 to December 8, has been extended to include additional cities such as Miami, New Orleans, Indianapolis, and Toronto. This expansion has resulted in the addition of a total of 15 extra concerts to the North American leg of the tour.

As part of her 2024 North American tour, Taylor will also be performing in Miami, Florida (Hardrock Stadium), and New Orleans, Louisiana (Caesars Superdome), with the tour slated to commence on October 18.
