Features – Trek 7200 Review

The features below define what the Trek 7200 bike is and how well it functions based on the features.

The frame is the heart of any bike, and when buying a bike, this is the first feature that most people look at to know if the cycle is a quality one. The material of a frame dramatically affects the overall functioning of a bike. Four main frame material options are carbon fiber, steel, titanium, and aluminum. The Trek 7200 hybrid has an aluminum frame, the lightest frame material. Compared to the strong steel frame, this lightweight aluminum frame is strong while on the road. In addition, this frame might help in keeping the weld in check by preventing the weld from breaking. The frame also has a slightly steeper angle of about 71.5 degrees which helps riders cycle with confidence to climb up steep hills.

2. Wheels and Tires

Wheels and tires are one of the most important things you should look for in a bike before making your choice. Good wheels and tires will give you a comfortable ride even when you cycle on rough roads. The Trek 7200 hybrid bike boasts of alloy front hub because the alloy wheel is non-corrosive and rust-free. The Shimano RM30 rear hub is another characteristic of the wheels of this hybrid bike that makes this bike effective.

4. Handlebar

Handlebars may significantly affect your riding position and may also determine whether or not you will be comfortable riding your bike. The Trek 7200’s handlebars are adjustable, which means you are free to change the height of the handlebars to your desired handlebars. In addition, you can adjust the handlebar according to your size and the terrain you are riding your bike on.

In addition, the handlebars are made of high-quality steel. What does this tell you? It tells you that the handlebar will not defoam if you ride your bike on rocky or rough paths. The characteristics of the handlebar will tell you that the bike is made for smooth roads and rough ones.

5. Speed and Gear

This hybrid bike has 24 gears available. This means you can change them however you please, especially if you ride on rocky terrain. With the 24 gears, riders can find the gears that suit them best as they ride on different terrains. m

Because this is a hybrid bike, it combines a road bike and a mountain bike. These two qualities will tell you that the bike is fast enough for both terrains. This hybrid bike is super fast with a smooth transition of gears. You can ride it at a single speed, and you can also ride smoothly at multiple speeds.

6. Brake and Suspension

This hybrid bike is fitted with unique Tektro linear brakes. These brakes have a linear-pull braking system that enhances the constant clamp force. The brakes are also powerful and very effective. What about the suspension? Well, the front fork has a suspension, and the seat post also has a suspension. Both of these suspensions will allow you to have an upright position and a comfortable one.

Compared o some of the bike seats available on the market, the softness of this bike is the second cheapest. Despite this, the soft saddle is a Bontrager Surbabia, and it is also very soft, thus making the seat ideal for long-distance cycling.

The interior of this seat is very soft, and at the bottom, you can find a shock-absorbing spring.

When you grease your bike, you will ensure that it does not encounter any rust or corrosion problems. The bike will also be safe from wear and tear because by greasing, you reduce friction. Also, ensure that you maintain your bike’s wheels, tires, and bearings. Once all of these are maintained, then your whole bike is maintained.

Also, the lightweight of this bike makes it excellent for riding around the city. The frame has two main advantages; for starters, it can resist any terrain difficult. Second, the bike is aerodynamic and elegant, which makes it easier for the bike to maneuver.

FAQs – Trek 7200 Review

  • How many speeds is a Trek 7200?

This Trek 7200 features 24 speeds and an 8X3 drivetrain which is ideal for a mountain bike. A single-speed is usually enough if you ride the bike on smooth roads, but if you want a bike to ride on rugged terrains, you need to choose more than 3 speeds. The Trek, therefore, is suitable for the complex landscape, all thanks to the number of speeds it has.

This number of speeds also means that the bike is super fast, with a smooth transition and smoother pedaling.

  • What type of bike is Trek 7200?

It is a hybrid bike which means it is partly a road bike and partly a mountain bike. The bike is lightweight enough to provide an exercise advantage and tough enough to allow you to go out on an adventure.

The features on this bike show exactly what kind of bike this Trek Hybrid is. From the adjustable handlebars to the soft seat that allows you to cycle for a long-distance tour. So although the company states it as a mountain bike, the features on the bike speak of it as a hybrid bike.

The handlebar allows you to adjust to the required height. This means you can easily ride the bike on hard terrain and adjust the bike when you want to ride on smooth terrain. It is also very durable, and durability is one main characteristic of a hybrid bike because such a bike is exposed to harsh environments.

The Trek 7200 bike has strong brakes, making it excellent for off-road adventures.

  • What does a Trek 7200 weigh?

What size is a Trek 7200 bike? The Trek 7200 hybrid bike weighs 26.34 lbs or 11.95 kgs. However, many people believe the bike weighs about 30.7 pounds when fully assembled. This tells you that the 26.34 lbs weight of the bike might be equivalent to a disassembled Trek 7200 bike. This is just the weight of the bike itself without the rider and the cargo on it. The rider, cargo, and bike have an expected maximum weight of 300 pounds or 136 kgs.

This weight makes it suitable for riding on but not the highly steep hills. In addition, the maximum weight expected of the weight is ideal for people who intend to carry some cargo on the bike.

3. How much is a Trek 7200 Worth

How much does a Trek 7200 multitrack cost? The Trek 7200 hybrid bike is not as expensive as anyone would think. Its general guide price has never exceeded $500. The 2000 7200 is worth $430, the 2001 Trek 7200 is worth $380, and the 2004 to 2005 Trek 7200 are both worth $390.

Those are good prices for a hybrid bike that you would want to ride on rough and smooth terrains.

  • What rider’s height does the bike fit?

This will all depend on the rider’s height. After measuring your height in centimeters, you can use the chart below to know the right bike size. Remember, this is just a general guide to the best bike size for your height as a rider. The best way to know which bike size would fit you is to go for a test ride with the bike.

Getting a bike for your height enhances your comfort when riding the bike. So apart from using this chart to see which bike size would fit you, it is vital to go for a test ride to determine the correct bike size.

The Trek 7200 bike is a hybrid configured for complex and smooth terrains. You can use it for commuting to work and off-road adventures. The Trek company is famous for making the best and most durable mountain bikes, so you can be sure that this bike also is durable and effective.

The bike is also affordable because the Trek hybrid has never had an over $500 price. But, of course, depending on the year of manufacture, the Trek has different prices, depending on what you can afford.

In conclusion, the bike is good, especially if you intend to have one bike for your smooth paved road adventures and off-road activities. The bike is also worth its price.

Frame and fork.

When it comes to biking, having a sturdy and reliable frame is key. This is no surprise since the frame is the backbone of the bike and can make a huge difference in terms of stability and control while you’re riding.

For the Trek 7200, you get a solid hybrid bike frame. This bike is made with Trek’s Alpha aluminum, which is known for its lightweight and durability. You’ll feel the difference as soon as you start pedaling, it’s that light!

2005 trek 7200

What’s really cool about the Trek 7200 is its slightly steeper head tube angle of 71.5°. This makes it perfect for climbing hills and gives riders more confidence and balance on fast descents. You’ll be able to handle any terrain with ease!

And for the fork, the Trek 7200 is equipped with an RST CT-COM C5 fork with 50 mm of travel. For a hybrid bike like this, that’s more than enough.

While suspension isn’t usually a top priority for hybrid bikes, the suspension on the Trek 7200 is designed to absorb the bumps of trails and potholes with ease.

Finally, let’s not forget about comfort! As a hybrid bike, the main focus of the Trek 7200 is on providing comfortable rides.

You’ll appreciate the suspension and enjoy smooth rides even on rough terrain, and you’ll feel like you’re gliding on air on paved roads and smooth city streets.

Gears and Brakes

Gears are one of the most important components of any bike, as they can make a huge difference in how easy or difficult it is to ride.

Luckily, the Trek 7200 has got you covered with high-quality components from Shimano, SRAM, and Bontrager. These components provide precise shifting and braking, making for smooth and safe rides.

One of the best things about the Trek 7200 is its 8-speed rear gear. This provides a wide gear range that’s perfect for both commuting, riding around your neighborhood or even taking on rough trails.

2005 trek 7200

You’ll always have the perfect gear to make the ride easy and enjoyable, whether on climbs or descents.

If you’re looking at an earlier model of the Trek 7200, you might find it fitted with 7-speed SRAM MRX Plus shifters and Shimano C102 front derailleur and Shimano Acera rear derailleur.

But in the later 2010 model, these components were upgraded to SRAM MRX Comp twist shifters, Shimano M191 front derailleur, and Shimano Alivio rear derailleur.

Either way, you can be sure you’re getting top-notch components that will give you efficient rides.

Now, let’s talk about the brakes. The Trek 7200 comes with Tektro linear-pull alloy brakes. These brakes are powerful and efficient, giving you the stopping power you need to stay safe on any ride. You’ll be able to stop quickly and easily, even when you’re gliding down a steep hill.

Wheels and Tires

Wheels and tires are crucial components of any bike, as they contribute to its overall performance and riding experience.

The Trek 7200 comes with a high-quality set of wheels, including an alloy front hub and a Shimano RM30 rear hub.

The Bontrager 750 rims have 32 holes and are more than strong enough for most commuters. These wheels are both durable and lightweight, and won’t weigh you down.

2005 trek 7200

Trek 7200 has very solid tires, but depending on which model of the Trek 7200 you have, you may be riding on different tires.

The earlier models were equipped with Bontrager Invert Puncture Resistant tires, while the later 2010 model has 700x35c Bontrager H2 Plus tires with a puncture-resistant belt.

No matter which tires you have, you can expect good traction on smooth surfaces. However, on rougher terrain, the tires may not perform as well. That being said, the tires are puncture-resistant and should withstand most road hazards.

Saddle and Handlebars

The Trek 7200 comes with a soft and padded Bontrager Boulevard saddle that is perfect for long-distance commutes. What’s even better is that the saddle is attached to an alloy seatpost with adjustable suspension.

2005 trek 7200

This means that your seatpost is more flexible, reducing the transfer of high-frequency road vibrations from your bike to your body. It also helps dampen the impacts of big hits from the road, making your ride smoother and more comfortable.

Also, the Trek 7200 comes with a Bontrager Approved handlebar made of solid steel and with a 50 mm rise.

You can always adjust the height of the handlebar to give you a comfortable fit. This means that you can ride for longer without experiencing any discomfort or strain on your back or shoulders.

Size and weight

When it comes to finding the perfect fit for your ride, the Trek 7200 hybrid bike has many sizes to choose from. With sizes ranging from 15″ to 25″, you’re sure to find the size that fits you just right.

The frame sizes are precisely 15, 17.5, 20, 22.5, and 25 inches, giving you plenty of options to choose from.

And even with all the high-quality components, the Trek 7200 still manages to keep its weight down. With an average weight of about 26.4 lbs (11.9 kg), this bike is easy to handle and maneuver on the trails.

It’s not too heavy to carry around when you need to, but it’s still sturdy enough to support riders up to 275 to 300 lbs.

How much is the Trek 7200 Multitrack?

The current Trek 7200 value is estimated to be less than $100, you will most likely find one going from $65 to $110. But, keep in mind that it would be a used bike.

If you happen to find a brand-new Trek 7200, though this is very unlikely, expect the price to be from $250 to $450. It doesn’t go over $500.

General Road bikes average price

If you want an acceptable General Road bike you should know that the average price is 1915 $ . However, even if your budget is less than the average, you might still be able to get a top-quality General Road bike. To make sure you don’t pay a higher amount than normal for your bike, always do some components analysis and read reviews.

Overview of components

Fork material.

The fork is made out of steel, which tends to be more flexible than carbon forks in general. However, a carbon fork is considerably lighter.

Wheels size

As for the wheels, Trek 7200 FX 2005, has a 700c aluminum model. These are the most popular wheels for road, aero, gravel, cyclocross, race, and gravel bikes. However, while they give you great speed and control, these wheels are not so bump-friendly.

We ride faster and faster, so a good braking system is essential on a bike nowadays. The 7200 FX comes with Rim brakes. Slightly lighter than hydraulic brakes, rim brakes are a budget choice. However, they are not nearly as effective as hydraulic brakes are.

Strength and ride. Seat suspension is delightful (especially the first run of the season!). Shifts great and stays straight. Goes off road very well.

Squeaked a bit at first, but that resolved itself. Suspension caps popped off.

Very comfortable. Put the handle bars way down to stretch out a bit. Haven't had any problems with the bike except the RTS suspension caps popped off somehow. Pulled them off my old bike and fine now. Like the color and style.

Front shock and shock on seat. I really appreciate the shock on the seat. Great bike for commuting, includes a bell. The best commuter designed bike, with commuters, not mountian bikers in mind.

The gears have had to be adjusted twice in a short time, but the bike shop includes free one year maintenance as the bike is breaking in.

I ride 15 miles to and from work in Los Angeles suburb. I bought the bike with everything, lites, rack and odometer and came with one year free maintenance. Great bike to flow with traffic or go on the sidewalk and then jump back and forth, from smooth streets to rocky, gravel industrial area.

Schwinn Frontier

Overall quality construction, comfort, riding position (good for visibility in traffic), and gearing General well-built feeling to the bike. Durable heavy frame and thicker tires.

A couple of similar bikes purchased for family use needed to have their brakes adjusted soon after purchase, but the bike shop handled this as part of the purchase deal. 4 bikes in the family and everybody enjoys this model.

Well built fram and excellent riding position and comfort for mid-range commuting. This bike is good for town commuting and for recreational/fitness rides up to 30 miles.

several road bikes and hybrid bikes over the past 32 years.

Comfort, easy pedaling, 'Brands' store was terrific. Set everything up with all accessories, gave me a lesson in all aspects of the bike and put all the literature in an envelope for me to store. Very professional.

None so far.

I wanted a comfortable bike, kind of like my old 3 speed English Racer. The Mountain bikes have me leaning forward too much to be comfortable ( for me). I look at all the current models and found this one to be the best value. It is so comfortable and I can easily ride 20 miles with ni strain or pain. I love the shocks in the seat post and front. Gears are fine and I don't get it about the plastic pedals. They are fine, and light. I added a flexible toe clip and that was a smart move. A couple of lights for night riding and I'm very satisfied.

Specialized 18 Speed Mountain Bike, Panasonic 12 speed racer, Raleigh 3 speed Eng. racer ( still have it in MINT condition ), and a Dahon folding 5 speed.. very cool little bike.

solid frame,Good comfort for riding. A nice medium rider and all around comuniter.

rimsa and spokes on rear needed to be rebuilt.rear shifter is a little tricky.

Good all around bike.I wouldnt recomend it for anything over a 35 mile ride.but a tuff well built frame and componets.except rims and spokes.

mongoose dh2.4 mtb bike.

Trek Dealer (Crystal Lake Ski & Bike), light frame, brakes work well.

Derailleurs, handlebar shifters, & wheels. The old saying "you get what you pay for" rings true with this bike.

I bought this bike in April '02 and would only recommend it to the extremely casual rider who utilizes it for short commutes or cruising around the neighborhood. I have put in excess of 1200 miles on this bike (80% Road / 20% Light Off-Road Trail). Faulty components include the rear wheel (replaced after busting 10+ spokes), replaced upper bracket, & front shifter (twice). I must give credit to Crystal Lake Ski & Bike for standing behind what they sell - they did not charge me for any of the above mentioned items. I changed tires to a pair of Hutchinson Cyclocross which are great in the dirt but have slowed me down a bit on the road. I am now starting to see problems with the rear derailleur which now has a tendency to slip when climbing - back to the bike shop.

Schwinn Hybrids

A very good reliable hybrid that allows individuals with back injuries/problems the opportunity to ride and enjoy cycling again. The riding position is mostly upright, taking the pressure off the lower back, and placing the pressure in your buttocks and legs. (A must to set up your correct riding position with a store technician ) By adjusting your handlebar position to a lower angle, allows you the opportunity to strengthen the muscles in your lower back overtime.

The riding position is mostly upright thus creating additional wind resistance. Do not purchase this bike if you think this will be similar to a road bike.

Excellent entry level hybrid bicycle for individuals who have grown tired of the 26 inch comfort bikes. A very good reliable hybrid that allows individuals with back injuries/problems the opportunity to ride and enjoy cycling again. This is an enjoyable medium distance recreation/commuter bicycle. This bicycle allows you to move from point A to point B in a shorter time frame than the 26 inch comfort bicycles. The bicycle feels very stable on both pavement and crushed gravel paths. If you are expecting the speed of a road bike, you will be very disappointed. The mostly upright position can be very difficult when riding into head winds. I would reccomend this bike for 1mile to 50 mile rides.

Price, comfort, good re-saleabilty for upgrading.

Plastic pedals? ....... almost a non-issue for the upgrade cost.

As a "50'ish mini-geezer" I found the 7200 to be my best value for an entry level recreational bike. I looked at Giant, Cannondale and Schwinn. The 7200 is a "suspension fork and derailure upgrade" from the 7100; about $80. I also upgraded the shift/brake, going to integrated "click up/down shifter with brakes" by Shimano. All in all, and for under $400, this is an affordable and extremely comfortable "toughened up road bike."

I've been riding a Huffy "Lead filled" mountain bike! This is the best thing to pedal while looking for a real bike!!! "Everything" rides like a Rolls Royce after a Huffy!

It is very light. Good components.

Its very uncomfortable. It was not designed for a human.

The man at Babcocks talked me into buying this bike. I really don't like it. Yeah, its comfortable, if you pan on just sitting on the bike and not traveling anywhere. The handle bars are way to high for any length trip. Even if you lower them you can barely get them level with the seat post. Whoever designed this bike ought to have put some thought into it.

Attractive look. Sounds design provides rider with confidence.

Staight up ride prohibits front end lift. Some components (such as the chain) lack durability. I broke my chain the second ride.

Great bike for kicking around the city. Handles the road and rock with ease. Sturdy frame and handling enables smooth ride on any surface. Versatile enough to suit the needs of an aggressive rider with multiple needs and uses.
