Cruise Control Not Working -- Help Needed

My father has a 2006 Civic Ex with Nav coupe. Car has always been stock other than the donor parts it receives from my FA5 (suspension, wheels, etc.) Recently the Cruise Control hasn't been working, the main light will come on "Cruise Main" but when you try to "set" it the second light won't come on nor will the cruise engage. I've tried all different speeds and different gears and it won't go on. I briefly searched and saw one maybe 2 people had the same problem but this was years ago and no outcomes were determined. I also thought that maybe it was a fuse but I don't see a fuse that directly corresponds to the cruise control, if there is please show me. Thanks for the help, I really don't want to take the car to the dealership mainly because it's out of the bumper to bumper warranty and I'm sure they'll charge and arm and a leg. If you have a Helms mannual and want to see if there is a troubleshoot section for this and it leads me to fixing my problem, I'll paypal you some $$$$$ for some :beer: for helping.  

This happened to me but it works now. I've had issues with cruise control but it might be due to my modifications. How much gas does the car have?  

Gas level has varied from full to 1/4 tank. I don't think that would have any effect but I guess crazier things have happened. I'll also note that at one point he said it was sparratic, meaning that it would randomly work but now it never works.  

Anyone else experience this problem or have any ideas?

id try the spedometer fuse, all the accessory ones... fidget around with one or two under the hood... its gotta have a fuse or something somewhere... just a matter of figuring out what fuse they wired it to  

Ensure your brake lights aren't blown and that they are not aftermarket LED bulbs - this can cause issues with cruise engagement. The car will also log the "reason" the cruise was disengaged in most circumstances, but you need an HDS to read this data.

You say HDS....meaning the OBDII scan tool? Like the one that Autozone will use to check codes?  

No, the dealer tool.  

^^ That's what I thought. Ok, Ill check the aforementioned items and go from there...smells like I'm headed to Honda sooner then later though.

I have an 08 si and I had this same problem, got in my car one morning and my cruise control just didn't work. Light came on like yours but it wouldn't set. I own a flashpro so I tried just reflashing it. It worked fine after that.

So how did you get that fixed ? Cause I'm having about the same problem, and i found out on different forums that it is a common problem on 8th gen civics..! I own a '06 LX Civic 4dr. I bought it few weeks ago (used car at the dealer). When pressing the ''cruise'' button, the cruise green light on the dash will come ''on'', but then, pressing the ''set'' button will not hold the speed. I've tried this several times on the highway, with the same result every time. Seems like i can activate the Cruise, but I cannot engage it to maintain a certain speed. I'd like to fix it, since I'm doing a lot of highways.. any more hints on what to do ? Thanks.  

I had this problem on my 94 Si. Turns out the rubber bumper, that the clutch lever rests on when not engaged, had broke and fallen out. There was a switch rod that now poked through the hole in the lever where the bumper was. That switch, by not being activated by the bumper, made the cruise think the clutch pedal was pressed. You can't engage the cruise if the clutch pedal is pressed. If you have a faulty switch, that could also be the problem instead of the bumper.  

hia. I did a mod to my family car in Pakistan. Its a 2008 civic which is shaped like the canadian Acura. Its a FD1 auto. I recently swapped a 2010 LX 4 dr tacho which i bought from ebay USA. The car is poweres by an R18. Added a civic type R steering wheel with audio and cruise controls. The things i notived are that a spanner light comes on, which i reckon is the service light. Pak Civic does not have this feature. Similarly TPMS light is on.(no sensors here) Again not present in OEM Pak civic. Pak uses KM/H whereas the tacho automatically converted to Miles. I used to get beep tones when putting car in R, now no beeps(was really sick of that otherwise!) i D.I.Yed cruise control installation. The green cruise main comes on when pressing the cruise button but the cruise control main feature wont come on even after crossing 25mph speed. Cruise control does not come on. Ive researched for over a yr now n im 100 % sure the wiring is correct as im in direcgt contact with an installer in Thailand. Now im stuck up as dont have cruise control. The orig tacho never displayed the cruise main n cruise control icons when doing the diagnostic tests. The new LX 4 dr sedan tacho dies light up the cruise buttons on the tacho. I added all the wires missing from steering wheel harness to back of tacho and also got the the illumination lights on with the parking lights. What could epbe the cause. Do i req a new ECU? Do i have to get it reprogrammed from Honda etc or just swap it with a US LX ecu? When i (manually) join all the wires coming out of the tacho from the points 9,10 n 11 the cruise main comes on. Joining any two doesnt light up the icon. So this means all the 3 wires are connected properly. I understand that a separate wire is to be grounded which i have done. Then connecting the first wire at point 9 of tacho n pressing the cruise button turns ON cruise main green light. The other two are connected at points 10 n 11 of tacho. Ground is connected at point 15 black (G504) . I still havent connected the airbag or the sel/reset buttons. Could it be becoz of that that it aint working. Ur professional inputs will be a life saver as ive put in so much effort into all this. Plzzz plzzz help. Ive 2 weeks holidays left then im back to UK. Plz help mates . Will be extremely grateful.  

BTW i managed to get the audio controls working many months back. Added audio aux etc so i know a bit about car electronics. N 1 more thing when i did the tacho diagnostics test on gthe new LX tacho after displaying the icons ERROR 1 comes up but then goes away after turning OFF . Now what do the experts say on this?

could be a ground - i know when one of the main grounds to the ecu went loose on my swap the ecu was one of the first things to act up... check for corrosion on the grounds / loose grounds...  

thank u all. FINALLY got the wiring sorted. It turned out that brake light switch wiring was missing! Did that over the week n now i reckon our car is the FIRST in Pakistan to have cruise control in Honda Civic! Yipppeee hurrayyyyyyyyy! It was a complete D.IY n took me research,parts sourcing, n brainstorming coupled with stress n hardwork for nearly a Year. Im proud of my achievements! The trim levels in Pakistan are Ivtec n Oriel. The latter having dual airbags n sunroof. Both powered by an R18. So mine is an ORIEL PROSMATEC where prosmatec is for the auto n it stands for progressive shift management techonology. So what do u guys say shall i nick name the car CRUISEMATEC? strange yet true here the corolla is the only car having factory cruise control n the corolla people put an emblem of CRUISETRONIC on its trunk. Whenever my bro visits Pakistan n sees the car he says look at the Honda it has a whole essay written on its trunk which includes Honda+civic+1.8+ivtec+oriel+prosmatec(progressive shift management techonology wrtten beneath it) +ABS(anti lock brake system written beneath it!) sticker on the rear screen phewww!

Hi, i Did put the steering switch on and verify all the wires that goes to the tach control and everyhing is ok! When I press Cruise Main ON not working . I did not wire my brake switch yet +12V Yellow to BROWN wire to A39 pin ECM/PCM. Do you think it is because of that and the PCM does not activate the Cruise Control circuit ? Thx  

I have had the same problem out of my 07 SI. I haven't had time to mess with it yet. My brake lights just recently stopped working also.  

My Cruise Main light keeps flickering on and off... with the Cruise Main button not pressed.. Any idea's what it could mean?

What does a cruise control release switch do.

Cruise control is a feature found on most modern vehicles, and is most commonly deactivated by a switch triggered by your brake pedal. The cruise control release switch turns off cruise control when your brake pedal is pushed down, allowing your vehicle to slow down as needed. The pressure applied to your brake pedal turns off the cruise control, preventing it from reactivating until the driver manually turns the cruise control back on or resets their preferred speed. Your vehicle's cruise control release switch and brake light switch are commonly integrated into one switch, allowing the brake pedal to perform both functions at the same time. Because the two switches are integrated, common signs of failure may include brake lights not activating when you activate the brake pedal, or the cruise control not turning off when the brake pedal is depressed. This may require the driver to turn off the cruise control manually, which can be dangerous and confusing while driving. Both your cruise control release switch and your brake light switch control important safety features in your vehicle and should be repaired promptly once the problem is diagnosed. If only one of these problems is occurring, you may instead have a blown fuse, failing relay, or damage to one or more of the wiring harnesses or connectors that control these systems in your vehicle. 2025 Honda Civic Si Heats Up Summer with More Aggressive Styling, Leading-Edge Technology, Improved Dynamics and New Heated Front Seats

Honda will unleash the best-equipped and most fun-to-drive Civic Si ever this summer, as the brand continues to offer young driving enthusiasts more affordable high-performance . The refreshed 2025 Civic Si brings an aggressive new front design , improved dynamics and a host of new standard features, including heated front seats and Google built-in.

Honda is America's #1 brand in manual transmission sales this year, with Civic leading the pack as the country's best-selling manual transmission vehicle. The turbocharged 2025 Civic Si is the only car in its class available exclusively with a manual transmission.

The 2025 Honda Civic Si will go on sale in early August with a starting Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) 1 of $29,950 (excluding $1,095 destination charge). Optional high-performance summer tires that maximize grip and handling add just $300.

2025 Civic Si Pricing & EPA Ratings

Civic is the longest-running Honda automotive nameplate, with Americans having purchased more than 12 million Civics since 1973, making it one of the top three best-selling passenger cars in America over the past 51 years 4 . The high-performance Civic Si was first introduced in 1986.

An unparalleled success, the 11th-generation Civic serves as a gateway to the Honda brand and America’s most popular vehicle with Gen Z buyers, first-time new car buyers as well as multicultural customers 5 .

More Fun-to-Drive The turbocharged Civic Si is one of the best performing cars in its class with an excellent power-to-weight ratio, lively handling and fun-to-drive feel – all while remaining comfortable for everyday driving. With this refresh, the performance sedan’s legendary fun-to-drive dynamics and class-leading ride comfort are further improved by body structure and suspension improvements.

The new SICE-compliant body makes this the most rigid Civic Si ever. New lower B-pillar and rear door sill supports increase torsional and bending rigidity.

To further amplify driver enjoyment and take advantage of the increased body stiffness, the Si suspension dampers have been retuned  to match the increased body stiffness. And for drivers looking for maximum performance, sticky summer tires are now available as a factory option.

The performance of the standard Si rev-matching system has been enhanced by expanding its function to include downshifts from 2nd to 1st gear. The rev-matching system will “blip” the throttle when it detects all downshifts, perfectly matching revs with a lightning quick 430 ms response time.

Civic Si delivers high levels of driver exhilaration and engagement with a precise short-throw 6-speed manual transmission, complemented by a light single-mass flywheel, which helps give the sport sedan’s high-torque VTEC® 1.5-liter Turbo engine snappy throttle response. To maximize available traction during acceleration, the engine’s 200-horsepower and 192 lb.-ft. of torque is routed to the front wheels through a standard helical limited-slip differential.

Civic Si comes standard with larger brakes than the standard Civic Sedan, along with 235/40R18 all-season performance tires, or the aforementioned optional summer tires.

In addition to Normal and Sport driving modes, the Drive Mode system features an Individual mode that allows the driver to individually select engine response, steering assist level, and instrument panel display color parameters for a customized driving experience.   Sport mode adds throttle response, decreases steering assist, deactivates the idle stop system, and changes the instrument accent lighting from white to red.

Exhilarating Design   The refreshed styling of the 2025 Honda Civic Si adds considerable attitude to the sport sedan with a more aggressive front fascia, new hex-pattern grille, and revised taillights with a darker appearance. Redesigned Si-specific V-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels finished in matte black further enhance the sporty look.

Si features standard LED headlights and taillights, and sporty gloss black trim on its exterior mirrors and window surrounds. Functional aerodynamic aids unique to the Civic Si improve its performance over other Civic Sedan models. A front spoiler hidden under the vehicle and a gloss black rear spoiler mounted atop the trunk lid add downforce to improve high speed stability.

The 2025 Civic Si is available for the first time in Urban Gray Pearl, which has become popular on other Honda models, including Accord and CR-V.

More Intuitive Tech Intuitive technology has been smartly integrated into Civic Si with a focus on driver engagement, creating the most technologically advanced Civic Si ever. In addition to the sport sedan’s 9-inch touchscreen, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto™ compatibility, Si gains the model’s first integration of Google built-in and new front USB-C ports, all standard. And to better support performance driving, the Si gets a new LED shift indicatior light.

For additional comfort the Civic Si exclusive body stabilizing sport seats are now heated, adding to features that include built-in head restraints, and prominent shoulder and lower thigh side supports. The 3-level front seat heater buttons are positioned within easy reach, alongside the high-quality knurled knobs of the climate control system.

Sport pedals and red contrast stitching on the doors, steering wheel, center arm rest, shift boot and leather-wrapped aluminum shift knob add a performance edge to the Si cabin. Racy red accents also adorn the signature metal honeycomb dash trim and red stitched "Si" logos dress its front seatbacks.

Civic Si comes standard with a moonroof and the best audio system in the class – a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system with Bose Centerpoint 2 technology and SurroundStage digital signal processing.

Civic Si Gets Google built-In Standard on the 2025 Civic Si is the performance sedan’s first integration of Google built-in. This includes apps like Google Assistant, Google Maps and more on Google Play for a helpful, personalized and connected driving experience with a complimentary 3-year unlimited data plan.

With Google Assistant, users can get things done while keeping their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel. Talk to Google to easily call or text a friend, set reminders, or even change the temperature in the car. Users can also navigate to the next destination or look up what's nearby. For example, Google Assistant enables users to set their destination in Google Maps using just their voice, with the route map then displayed in the instrument cluster.

Drivers can control their media by asking Google to skip to the next track or rewind a podcast using their favorite media apps with just their voice. Google Play enables users to download various 3rd-party apps for music, podcasts and audiobooks, just like they would on their smartphone.

Enhanced Honda Sensing ®   The  Honda Sensing ® suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies is standard on all Civic models, with enhanced safety performance for 2025.

Based on the longstanding Honda "Safety for Everyone" approach, a commitment to advance safety for everyone sharing the road, the 11th-generation Civic is a safety leader in the compact class due to the advanced active and passive safety technology that comes standard on every Civic, including enhancements for the 2025 Civic Si.

The upgraded Si includes increased system visibility for motorcycles and bicycles for the Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) with Pedestrian Detection, and smoother, more natural feeling to the functions of both Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS). Forward Collision Warning; Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) incorporating Lane Departure Warning (LDW); are standard. All Civic Sport models and Civic Si are equipped with blind spot information system with Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

Every Civic includes the proprietary Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure Honda designed to help protect occupants in a wide variety of frontal collisions, along with advanced supplemental restraint systems.

The driver and passenger front airbags in Civic were created to minimize the potential for severe brain trauma associated with angled frontal collisions. The front driver's airbag uses an innovative donut-shaped structure to cradle the head to reduce rotation. The passenger-side front airbag uses a three-chamber design with the two outer chambers designed to achieve a similar result. All Civic models also feature front seatbelt pretensioners, and side, driver and front-passenger knee and side-curtain airbags.
