Adele เผยข่าวดีสำหรับเหล่าแฟนเพลงทั่วโลกว่า เธอพร้อมที่จะกลับมาเดินสายทัวร์คอนเสิร์ตรอบโลกเมื่อออกอัลบั้มชุดใหม่ แม้ว่าขณะนี้เธอยังคงพักจากการเขียนเพลงอยู่

Adele ออกผลงานชุดล่าสุดในชื่อ ‘ 30 ’ ตั้งแต่ปี 2021 ที่มาพร้อมกับเพลงฮิตอย่าง Easy On Me , I Drink Wine และอีกมากมาย โดยที่ไม่ได้เดินสายทัวร์คอนเสิร์ตนอกเหนือไปจากการแสดงคอนเสิร์ตระยะยาว Weekends With Adele ซึ่งไม่กี่เดือนที่ผ่านมา Adele ก็ได้เผยว่า การเล่นคอนเสิร์ตดังกล่าวช่วยให้เธอกลับมาตกหลุมรักการแสดงสดอีกครั้ง

เธอโพสต์ข้อความผ่าน X ว่า “ฉันต้องการกลับมาเชื่อมความสัมพันธ์กับเพลงของฉันใหม่อีกครั้ง และจดจำให้ได้ว่ามันมีความหมายกับฉันอย่างไร และฉันก็ทำมันได้จริง!”

Best time to visit thailand.

Thailand's climate is generally hot, humid, and at times (like other South East Asian countries) monsoonal. The seasons differ from coast to coast, so depending on which areas you're visiting, the weather can vary.

Thailand's mainland region is great to visit from November to February when the weather is cooler and dryer.

If you are planning on visiting the Gulf Coast (east), avoid the northeast monsoon that brings rain from October to January. For destinations like Phuket on the west side of the peninsula, the best time is November to April to avoid the other monsoon which causes Thailand's wet season from May to October.

Culture and customs

Often considered the epicenter of Buddhism, religion permeates daily life in Thailand. Sprinkled throughout the country are thousands of golden temples, where you’ll find Buddhist monks in orange robes walking the streets. Young men are expected to spend some time as a monk as it bestows honor on their families. Visitors should be respectful of monks and dress modestly when visiting a temple (cover your knees and shoulders and remove your shoes).

Like other Asian nations, the concept of ‘saving face’ is important. This means avoiding conflict or embarrassment in order to preserve social standing, dignity, and honor. Thai people will go out of their way to avoid ‘losing face’. Losing your temper or raising your voice are surefire ways to lose face and can be perceived as volatile or rude.

Eating and drinking

Thai food has everything from spicy dishes packed with chilis to milder coconut-based curries. With street stalls and night markets all over the country, it's really easy to pick up a snack wherever you are in Thailand. Things to try in Thailand

1. Pad Thai (Phat Thai)

A well-known dish but for good reason. This delicious plate of stir-fried rice noodles garnished with peanuts is full of flavor and can be served with fresh prawns, chicken, tofu, or vegetables.

2. Tom Yum (Tom Yam)

Usually prepared with stock, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, and chili, this soup is widely available in Thailand and has been popularised around the world. 

3. Green curry

One of many curries that Thais do so well. Green curry consists of chicken, Thai eggplant, and chilies bathed in a coconut milk-based sauce.

4. Som tam (green papaya salad)

This northern dish of shredded raw papaya, cherry tomatoes, and green beans is a tantalizing mix of sweet, spicy, and sour flavors.

5. Coconut water

For a super fresh thirst quencher, try coconut water straight from the husk.

6. Tropical fruit

Fruit shakes and fresh fruit juices are widely available from markets and restaurants – make the most of all the tropical fruits of Thailand.

Geography and environment

Sharing borders with South East Asian neighbors  Cambodia ,   Laos ,   Malaysia   , and   Myanmar   (Burma), Thailand's natural environment varies greatly from region to region. From the steamy jungles and misty highlands in the north to the white sand beaches and picturesque islands of the south, Thailand's everchanging landscape has been fascinating and entertaining travelers for centuries. 

The capital, Bangkok, is a heaving, urban jungle with skyscrapers, street vendors, markets, cars, tuk-tuks, bicycles, and masses of people all competing for space. Despite this, there are pockets of quiet beauty to be found with parks, temples, and traditional shop fronts scattered throughout the city. 

Rural areas in the north are typically quieter, with locals living a more traditional way of life; the frenetic pace of the city giving way to a more slow-paced, agricultural-based lifestyle. Houses are simple, there's more space and less of the modern conveniences. Jungles, rivers, bamboo huts, and teak houses are more commonly seen here, and birds and other animal life are more abundant.

History and government

Early history.

Communities based on agriculture (such as rice growing) inhabited Siam (Thailand) as early as the 6th century. In the following centuries, Siam came under the influence of the Khmer, Dvaravati, and Malay cultures, with some temples and monuments in modern-day Thailand showing evidence of this influence. In the 13th century, the city of Sukhothai in northern Thailand became an important capital. The ruins of the Sukhothai Historical Park (a UNESCO World Heritage site) feature remnants of the royal palace, temples, and other buildings and highlight the artistic and architectural features of the era. 

Ayutthaya rose to prominence as the new capital in the 14th century and was considered a powerhouse of South East Asia as one of the most important centers of trade in the world. Enduring many battles, invasions, overthrows, and coups, Ayutthaya's far-reaching trade with other regions ensured a flourishing influence of art, weaponry, religion, and cuisine. Much wealth was generated by this enormous empire, with grand palaces, ornate buildings, and huge temples featured throughout the city. All this came to an end when the Burmese invaded in the 18th century, bringing the kingdom to ruin and resulting in the loss of many artistic and cultural treasures. Despite this, the ruins of the city are still standing, have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, and are a great day trip from Bangkok. Recent history

Thonburi was established as the capital of Siam by General Taksin in the late 18th century, yet this didn't last long with Taksim being deposed and executed not long after. Bangkok was then named capital by General Chakri, who became Rama I - the first king of the Rama Dynasty.

Over the years, Siam (Thailand) remained the only South East Asian country to remain free from European colonization. In 1932, the Siamese Revolution resulted in a constitutional monarchy being formed, and in 1941, Thailand invaded French Indochina, overpowered the French, and claimed Laos.

In the last thirty years, Thailand has seen political power change hands many times, often due to coups, revolutions, and protests. Despite this, Thailand’s economy continues to grow due to its strong tourist industry. Enduring all this, the much-loved King Rama IX has reigned as the Head of State since 1946 - claiming the title of the longest-reigning monarch in the world and providing Thai people with a stable figure to rely upon.

5. Ayuthaya

6. Sukhothai

8. Golden Triangle

The area where the Thai, Laotian, and Burmese borders meet has long been associated with colorful cultures and illicit opium trade. The opium may have gone but the color hasn't and the markets offer all sorts of amazing local handicrafts.

7. Phang Nga Bay

Phang Nga Bay is perhaps one of Thailand's most recognizable gems. Kayak around the green waters, admiring the sheer limestone karsts that jut dramatically out of the sea.

Bustling street markets filled with colorful vendors selling an assortment of goods can be found in small villages and large towns throughout the country. Luxurious, multi-level shopping malls that rival those in European cities are increasingly popping up. 

The Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok is perhaps the largest and most extensive market in the world. Here vendors sell everything you can think of, from ceramics to Thai silk to vintage clothing. Bartering is expected at markets and most small vendors. As a rule of thumb, if the price isn’t listed, it’s negotiable. But remember, Thais appreciate friendliness and a sense of humor. The more aggressive you are in trying to get a deal, the less likely you are to get one.

Festival and events

Loy krathong (festival of lights).

During the 12th lunar month, people across the country gather around lakes, rivers, and canals to symbolically let their worries float away in the most magical way – by releasing colorful lotus-shaped rafts holding candles, incense, and flowers onto the water.

Yee Peng (or Yi Peng)

At the same time that Loy Krathong is taking place, Chiang Mai also celebrates Yee Peng. Religious events, cultural activities, and street parades all mark this Buddhist tradition. But what makes this festival truly spectacular is the release of thousands of sky lanterns that illuminate the sky.  

Songkran (Thai New Year)

What happens when New Year’s Day falls during the height of summer? It morphs into a giant water fight. Some towns celebrate just on the day (April 13), while others stretch it out for several days of concerts, ceremonies, and other wet festivities.

Chiang Mai Flower Festival

Trips from 1 January 2023 onwards

Do I need a visa to visit Thailand?

Travelers with passports from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States are exempt from a tourist visa if they are traveling for 30 days or less. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from entry to Thailand.

If you plan on staying longer as a tourist, or if you are traveling for a reason, such as study or business, you may need a visa.

Is tipping customary in Thailand?

Tipping isn’t customary in Thailand, but feel free to leave restaurants, drivers or service workers a small tip if the service has been particularly good. It’s always appreciated.

What is internet access like in Thailand?

The Internet can be accessed at hotels and internet cafes in large cities and tourist areas but is limited in rural and remote areas.

Can I use my cell phone while in Thailand?

Cell phone coverage is generally good in Thailand’s urban areas, but may not be available on some of the islands and in more remote areas. Ensure global roaming is activated with your service provider before leaving home.

What are the toilets like in Thailand?

Squat toilets are most common in Thailand, although western-style flushable toilets can be found in larger hotels and some tourist areas. It’s a good idea to carry your own toilet paper and hand sanitizer, as they are not always provided.

Can I drink the tap water in Thailand?

Drinking tap water isn’t recommended in Thailand. Avoid drinks with ice and make sure to peel fruit before eating it. Help the environment and try to avoid buying bottled water. Instead, fill a reusable water bottle with filtered water. Your leader or hotel can tell you where to find filtered water.

Are credit cards widely accepted in Thailand?

Credit cards are usually accepted by hotels, large retailers and tourist sites but are less commonly accepted by smaller vendors and family-run restaurants in rural areas. Market stalls and street vendors will not accept credit cards. Always carry enough cash for smaller purchases in case credit cards are not an option.

What is ATM access like in Thailand?

ATMs are widely available in larger cities but are less common in small villages or rural areas. Make sure you have enough cash before leaving urban areas.

Do I need any vaccinations before visiting Thailand?

No vaccines are required in order to enter Thailand but some are recommended for protection against disease. Visit your doctor or travel clinic for advice and make sure to schedule vaccinations 4-6 weeks before your departure date, as some require time to become effective.

Is Thailand a safe destination for LGBTQIA+ travelers?

As a whole, Thailand is a hassle-free destination for LGBTQI travelers. Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket all have fairly prominent gay scenes. Be aware that Thais typically do not engage in public displays of affection, regardless of sexual orientation.

What's the transport like in Thailand?

20 artists we’d love to see live in Bangkok when the pandemic’s gone

From legendary Sir Paul McCartney to generation-defining popstar Taylor Swift—these are the musical acts we’re dying to see perform live in the city, for eff’s sake!

Before Miss Corona made her presence felt, Bangkok played host to many an international artist—big and small—from every corner of the world. There would be as much as two to three acts playing in the city in one month! Those were the good old days.

But now here we are, living in an era of entertainment drought, waiting for that time when we can once again safely gather in a hall or arena for a mind-blowing concert. Surely we’ll get to do that again. Hopefully next year?

To build up excitement for that day in the future, here’s a list of musical acts who have never done a show (gasp!) in Thailand before. We think it’s high time someone made these concerts happen.

Now that the British vocal powerhouse made a grandiose return with her highly-anticipated fourth record,  30 , it would be something to look forward to if she actually went on tour to further promote the album. Adele has also gone through a physical makeover, introducing a “healthier, happier” look that, for a brief moment, overshadowed her musical progression. Regardless, we’re sure that anything she produces will be phenomenal, and we hope to experience it live.

Arctic Monkeys

Long overdue: this Sheffield band rocking out live on stage before our own eyes. Alex Turner and co are reportedly recording a new album in Suffolk , and they’re known as tour artists, so there might be a chance we’ll finally see them perform in the flesh.

For now, watch this cool cut of “ Arabella ” from one of their live performances.

Billie Eilish

There’s no star shining brighter than “Miss Eyelash” at the moment. The 19-year-old just dropped her sophomore album Happier Than Ever , and has already sold out over 50 shows next year in North America and Europe. We’re pretty sure an Asia leg will come afterwards, so let’s keep our fingers crossed that Billie will add Bangkok to her line-up.

For now, watch this angst-driven performance of the title track of Billie’s new LP.

Even though Jack Antonoff's solo project Bleachers may not kill it on the commercial front like his productions for A-listed acts (ie, Taylor Swift or Lorde), the performer/producer is still a must-see if you’re a fan of music influenced by the ’80s, like his recent release Take the Saturday Out of Saturday Night , in which legendary musician Bruce Springsteen is featured. We’re hoping he’ll be nice enough to come to Bangkok once the international borders reopen.

Bruce Springsteen

Talking about The Boss, we were surprised to discover that this Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has never set foot in Bangkok for a show. Well, Springsteen promised to return to the road in 2022 when the pandemic calms down. Let’s hope he won’t overlook our city this time around.

For now, indulge in a bit of nostalgia and watch him perform his masterpiece “ Dancing in the Dark ” in 2013.

The queen of Motown has never been here for a headline show! But die-hard fans may just have their dreams realized—she’s planning to drop her 25th studio album Thank You (her first since 2006) in November, and a UK tour is already in the works. Next stop, Bangkok?

For now, watch this fun-filled medley of her hits at the American Music Awards in 2017.

2020 was another good year for the Haim sisters, who released Women in Music Pt. III , a critics-hailed album that defies and redefines the definition of being women in rock music. The trio has yet to break into the mainstream in Thailand, but a lot of indie fans here would probably be over the moon to see them blast out their tunes onstage.

For now, watch this virtual concert to see how brilliant they are in live performances.

James Blake

If Bangkok wants to up the concert game in Southeast Asia, then organizers must do anything they can to bring in the wizard of music, aka James Blake. Regarded for his captivating electronica music, we think that everyone (ie, us) should experience going into a trance-like state to his live music at least once. His new album Friends That Break Your Heart is set to be launched soon. 

For now, watch this haunting old—but gold— live session for NPR Music.

Early last year, the Internet went into a frenzy when it was announced that the Japanese singer would appear at VERY Festival: Spring-Break in March 2020 alongside his 88rising co-artist NIKI. But you know what happened: the C word! The performance was canceled but he did compensate later on in October by staging an online concert called The Extravaganza. When he does go back to doing live performances, we hope he considers a stop in Bangkok.

Lana Del Rey

Just as heart-wrenching as her massive catalog of melodramatic bangers is the fact that this enigmatic alt-pop artist has never graced her fans in the kingdom with her onstage presence. It’s unknown whether Lana would go on tour in the near future after releasing Chemtrails Over the Country Club  and  Blue Banisters ,  but let’s pray the queen hears our prayers when she decides to.

For now, watch this not-so-sad rare TV appearance of her singing “ Let Me Love You Like a Woman ”.

The New Zealand star has bounced back after a four-year hiatus with her self-aware, socially-conscious folksy record Solar Power , and she will continue to please her fans with a world tour that’s scheduled for next year. Well if she wants a spot to worship the sun and its immense powers, there’s no better place like hot and humid Bangkok! 

For now, watch this cute AF live performance of the album’s title track on a windy rooftop with Jack Antonoff.

Miley Cyrus

Before 2020, the name Miley Cyrus would probably raise your eyebrows and make you think of a kooky, if confused, personality that produced okay, sometimes catchy, pop tunes. But have you seen her recent transformation? The star has recently embarked on a pseudo-rocker path, starting with the release of a new album called Plastic Hearts , a very different-sounding collection that includes raspy ballads and covers of classic rock hits. The new Miley seems to be more respected now as a performer and, likely, a worthier act to see in a live concert.

For now, watch her slay “ Heart of Glass ” by legendary rock band Blondie.

Nicki Minaj

Nicki is the “one that got away”. The rapper was slated to visit Bangkok in April 2019 to promote her Queen album but, for unknown reasons, the gig was axed. Let’s all hope that our friendly city will find its way to her list when Nicki decides to go on the road again.

For now, watch this over-the-top medley performance by the superstar at the 2018 VMAs.

Olivia Rodrigo

This breakout Gen Z star rocked the music industry with SOUR , a debut album that reintroduced highschool punk rock back to the mainstream. The 18-year-old is set to travel the world in 2022 for her first big concert tour. It’d be awesome if she swings by Bangkok.

For now, watch her performance of chart-topping “ drivers license ” in her concert film Sour Prom .

Paul McCartney

It would be epic if this iconic musician came to Bangkok to perform both his solo hits and Beatles classics. The prolific octogenarian just released a new album last year, and hopefully this achievement inspires a world tour, with a stop in Bangkok.

For now, watch Sir Paul prove that he’s still got it at this live set in New York.

Post Malone

Years ago, no one would expect to see international hip-hop artists performing in Bangkok. But the local following for this musical genre has gotten bigger, and Posty is helping fuel the charge. By the time the pandemic makes its exit, he probably would have released his follow-up to 2019’s genre-bending Hollywood's Bleeding and will be all set to go on tour. Keeping our fingers crossed.

For now, watch him escape the virus and perform in a remote location for New Year’s Eve 2021.

Hoping that this performer-slash-beauty entrepreneur-slash-billionaire will soon produce new music is probably wishful thinking. But it’s all fun and games for us, her thirsty fans, to keep flooding the comments section on her IG with phrases like “WHERE’S THE ALBUM?” And when Rihanna decides to put her cosmetics biz aside and release music again, let’s flood her account with comments like “COME TO THAILAND. PLEASE!”

Tame Impala

Though he may not be considered mainstream, Tame Impala (aka Kevin Parker), is still big enough among indie heads in Thailand to fill up a venue. His recent work The Slow Rush was released during the pandemic, and we’re hoping that he’ll start making plans for a concert tour soon.

Taylor Swift

We don’t like to point fingers, but the military coup back in 2014 was possibly the reason why Tay Tay had to call off her show in Bangkok, marking the sole cancellation in her flawless streak of no-cancelled shows. Almost a decade—and five albums—later, there’s still no sign that the pop giant is reconsidering doing a show in the country. But Thai Swifities remain hopeful and wait patiently for that glorious day.

For now, watch an emotion-driven duet of “ exile ” with Bon Iver for Disney+’s documentary on her career-defining folklore album.

Tyler, the Creator

Thai rap fans would lose their mind if a top-notch act like Tyler, the Creator came to Bangkok for a show. And with Call Me If You Get Lost dropped back in June, we’re pretty sure he has enough material to blast out onstage for his fans.

Here’s why Asia may never get to see Adele

Despite her immense and continued popularity in the region, Asia may never get to welcome Adele to its shores.

Her Adele Live 2016-2017 Tour is confirmed to conclude this week with four shows, entitled The Finale, at London’s Wembley Stadium. That means the expansion Asian fans have been longing for is officially no-go.

Speaking to a local promoter, AsiaLive365 learned there have been several attempts in the past year from parties in the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan to bring the “All I Ask” singer to their respective countries. It’s not surprising, given the overwhelming success of 25  here and yet-to-materialise Asia debut, and that’s why rumours were sweeping about so much. However, promoters were given the same answer: the Adele camp was not looking to tour beyond Europe, North America and Oceania.

Okay, so we wait for the next one then. We wait for Adele’s fourth record that will mark the beginning of her new musical trilogy – it will yield a new tour and all will be right in the world.

Not so fast.

Adele may never hit the road again after this weekend. She shares a handwritten note with the fans in the Wembley concerts program book, saying, “Touring is a peculiar thing, it doesn’t suit me particularly well. I’m a real homebody and I get so much joy in the small things,” adding, “I only ever did this tour for you and to hopefully have an impact on you the way that some of my favourite artists have had on me live [sic]. And I wanted my final shows to be in London because I don’t know if I’ll ever tour again and so I want my last time to be at home.”

She also told Wednesday night (Jun 28)’s audience , “As of Monday morning, I’m solely a mum, I can’t f—king wait.”

We would imagine she was just being Adele – an uncensored, self-deprecating celebrity whose talent only goes to prove her wrong – if she hadn’t been so vocal about performing qualms these past few months, on or off stage. The 28-year-old British doyenne is quoted telling her New Zealand crowd in March, “Touring isn’t something I’m good at. Applause makes me feel a bit vulnerable. I don’t know if I will ever tour again.”

Her Australian tour manager Michael Coppel echoed the statement to the Australian Daily Telegraph , “We may never see her again. Adele’s been quoted as saying she won’t tour again. She’s doing this big tour as a recognition of her huge record sales and the enormous demand to see her live. It’s impossible to tell what happens next.”

Her being “solely a mum” is another reason for Adele to hang up her boots and sequined full skirt gowns. A source told The Sun the Grammy winner “won’t do another massive world tour like the current one for another 10 years.”

“[Her son] Angelo is the number one priority for Adele. He is the most important thing in her life. She has brought him everywhere with her on tour but as he is starting school next year, he won’t be able to join her any more. Adele doesn’t want to miss a moment of Angelo growing up and it’s an easy decision for her to give up touring for him.”

Well, we certainly can’t argue with that. However all of this unfolds, at least we’ll still have her music and award show performances and comic gold of acceptance speeches – oh, she’s bound to give them – to look forward to. Plus, a tour of the current one’s scale may never happen again but that doesn’t mean she won’t make a stop or two by our region’s famed festivals or the F1 race some time in the future…

Just don’t give up hope (and keep on chasing pavements). It did take Britney 18 years.

Land of Smiles

There is certainly a lot to smile about when you vacation in Thailand. Here, the Old World meets something entirely new. From temples to markets to food to waterways to beaches to nightlife, there is something to please everyone. As Thailand – a constitutional monarchy – is the only country in Southeast Asia to not have been colonized by Europeans, its cultural identity remains largely intact. And the Thai people, among the friendliest in the world, love to share their country with visitors. The only question is what not to see!

Destination Must-See's

Bangkok, or the City of Angels, was founded in 1782 by King Rama I – first king of the present Chakri dynasty. It has come a long way in 235 years. It is the political, economic, cultural, culinary, and spiritual capital of Thailand, and one of the world’s most visited cities. With so much to offer, how does one prioritize? Start with its temples, such as Wat Pho, Wat Phra Kaew, and Wat Arun. For more culture, visit the Grand Palace and the National Museum.

Buddhist Temples:

Buddhist temples in Thailand are known as wats. There are more than 30,000 temples in Thailand – 400 functioning temples in Bangkok alone. Wat Pho in Bangkok is Thailand’s most sacred site, and home to the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. This golden Buddha is 151 feet long and the largest in Thailand. Wat Phra Kaew, also in Bangkok, is the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, Thailand’s most sacred Buddha sculpture carved out of green jade. Bangkok’s Wat Arun, or the Temple of Dawn, has the tallest prang (tower) in Thailand – 220 feet high – decorated with bits of porcelain and seashells.

The Grand Palace:

The Grand Palace, located in Bangkok, is actually many buildings. King Rama I, founder of the Chakri dynasty, began construction of his royal palace in 1782, and it was used as a royal residence until 1925. Surrounded by four walls, it has a total area of 2,351,000 square feet. There are three main zones: the Outer Court (royal offices, public buildings, and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha); the Middle Court (important residential and state buildings); and the Inner Court (exclusive to the King, Queen, and consorts). It is a must-see in Bangkok.

Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai:

In the north of Thailand there are two cities definitely worth a visit. Chiang Rai is the northernmost large city in Thailand. It was founded in 1262 as the second capital of the Lanna kingdom, after Chiang Saen. Some notable sites are temples such as the Wat Rong Khun Temple (the white temple); the Saturday Walking Street market and the Night Bazaar; and the Hill-Tribes Museum and Education Centre. Chiang Mai, or the “Rose of the North,” is Thailand’s northern capital. It succeeded Chiang Rai as the capital of the Lanna kingdom in 1296. Some notable sites here are Wat Prathat Doi Suthep, the most famous of the city’s 300 temples; and the Sunday Evening Walking Street market.

Destination Must-Do's

Markets are a way of life for the Thai people, and they are popular with visitors as well. The Chatuchak Market in Bangkok has more than 8,000 shops on weekends. Vendors sell fruits and vegetables, clothes, pottery and ceramics, basketry, accessories, flowers, and even pets, among other things. The Silom district of Bangkok has all manner of shopping, from a mall to markets, including a night market. Night markets have a lively atmosphere. You can find local items here, along with food, drink and live music. They can get quite crowded. Floating markets emerged as a result of daily commerce being done along rivers and klongs (canals). Damnoen Saduak, outside Bangkok, is the most famous.

Thai Cuisine:

Thai cuisine is a balance of five flavors: sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and spicy. Most people know of pad Thai, or fried noodles, but there are many other dishes to try. Tom Yam Goong is a spicy shrimp soup made with a broth of lemongrass, chillies, lime leaves and juice, and fish sauce. Tom Kha Kai is a spicy chicken soup with chillies and lemongrass in a coconut milk broth. Som Tam, or spicy green papaya salad, perfectly represents all five flavors. Kao Pad is fried rice with egg, onion, and herbs. Gaeng Keow Wan Kai is chicken in green curry – green curry paste stirred into hot coconut milk. And there is so much more! Most dishes are served with rice, a Thai staple. If you prefer to not have your mouth on fire, ask for “mai phed,” or not spicy.

The waterways in Thailand have long been an integral part of life here. Bangkok was once called the “Venice of the East” because of its klongs, or canals. Many have been filled in, but there are still some that are used for floating markets. A long-tail boat, a lightweight vessel with narrow beams, high-pointed bows and a canopy, is used as a floating market “stand,” but visitors can take rides in these boats as well. Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River – “the River of Kings” – is the dividing line between the east and west of the city. And in the north of Thailand, the mighty Mekong River forms a border between Laos, Myanmar and Thailand, known as the Golden Triangle.

Kanchanaburi:

The bridge that spans the River Kwai, subject of a famous book and 1957 film, is part of the infamous Death Railway in the Kanchanaburi province in western Thailand. The 258-mile railway, built by Allied prisoners of war and native laborers, served to connect Thailand and Myanmar by land so that the Imperial Japanese Army didn’t have to transport their supplies by sea. It is estimated that more than 100,000 POWs and laborers died during construction, hence the Death Railway name. Today, both the bridge and railway are symbols of peace. There are also two museums and a war memorial.

Global superstar Adele has confirmed exclusive summer shows in Munich, Germany on the 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 10th, 14th, 16th, 23rd, 24th, 30th and 31st of August 2024.

Based at Munich Messe, Adele will perform in an open-air environment that has been exclusively created for these special shows. The bespoke arena will feature a combination of seated grandstands and standing areas with capacity for 80,000 people per night. “A one off, bespoke pop up stadium designed around whatever show I want to put on?” Adele noted on her Instagram.  She went on to say “I couldn’t think of a more wonderful way to spend my summer.”  These exclusive European dates mark the first time Adele has played mainland Europe since 2016.

"So a few months ago I got a call about a summer run of shows. I’ve been content as anything with my shows in London’s Hyde Park and my residency in Vegas, so I hadn’t had any other plans. However, I was too curious to not follow up and indulge in this idea - a one off, bespoke pop-up stadium designed around whatever show I want to put on? Ohh!? Pretty much slap bang in the middle of Europe? In Munich? That’s a bit random, but still fabulous! Right after the Euros? Come on England! With the Olympics next door? Go on Simone!
