Adele has announced she will be performing live in London next year , following the release of her album 30 this November.

In what will mark a return to live performances for the first time since 2017, the singer will play two shows at British Summer Time festival at Hyde Park, London, in the summer of 2022. The shows will be held on 1 and 2 July 2022.

Fans can sign up at adele.com from 8am on Tuesday 26 October to access Adele’s presale which begins at 10am on Thursday 28 October. Tickets are available here .

American Express Card members can access presale tickets from 10am on Friday 29 October. Tickets go on general sale from 10am on Saturday 30 October.

Soon after the announcement, social media users reported that the singer’s website had crashed , with one user joking that it was “time for the Adele Tickets Hunger Games”.

Those who miss the presale sign-up will have to wait till Saturday (30 October) to get their hands on tickets for Adele’s first UK live shows since 2017.

The singer’s fourth studio album, 30, is scheduled for release on 19 November .

On Tuesday (26 October), the singer revealed that she would be performing at BST Hyde Park on 1 and 2 July 2022.

“Oiii Oiiiiiiiiiiiii [heart emoji],” she tweeted, with a link to presale on her website .

Adele reveals her prized possession is a piece of Celine Dion’s chewing gum

Last week we were treated to an interesting (kind of gross) revelation, that Adele ’s “prized possession” is a used bit of chewing gum from Celine Dion.

Sitting down with Vogue for their 73 Questions video series, Adele unveiled a framed piece of the Canadian singer’s chewing gum.

She said about the gum: “It’s pretty amazing.”

Adele also revealed that James Corden obtained it for her: “James Corden — who’s a friend of mine but also does Carpool Karaoke , which I did — did one with her. He knew how much of a fan I was of her and he made her spit her gum into a piece of paper and she framed it for me.”

The “Easy on Me” singer added: “That’s my proudest possession.”

A Live-Aid style benefit concert is in the works to go ahead in June to raise money for victims of the Ukraine and Russia conflict. The gig is thought to be in production, with many huge acts like Adele , U2, The Rolling Stones and more being invited to perform.

There's no word yet on finer details of a confirmed line-up, but it's been reported that the concert will go ahead at Wembley stadium on the 24 June to raise awareness and funds for those suffering during the ongoing war. The benefit concert will be in the style of Bob Geldof's iconic Live Aid concert which took place at the old Wembley stadium in 1985. The gig raised over 127 million for famine relief in Africa and is considered one of the most iconic concerts in history.

After plenty of rumours online, Miley Cyrus has confirmed she will be making her Disney homecoming for a TV special to celebrate her highly-anticipated new album. The Disney+ special, named after the album, Endless Summer Vacation, will be a backyard sessions special set to drop on 10th March and will see the singer perform a number of hits from the new record, including the smash-hit single, Flowers, as well as old classics. Miley will also perform a duet with Rufus Wainwright and we can't wait to watch!

Lana Del Rey has hinted that her appearance at this year's Glastonbury festival may be in question. The singer was placed on the bill of acts performing at the annual event last week when main headline acts Arctic Monkeys and Guns and Roses were announced, but Lana was seemingly unimpressed that festival bosses failed to mention she was the headline act for the Other stage. Taking to social media, she told her fans she was the headline act for the second stage, before adding that since there was no consideration for the announcement, she would have 'to see' about whether the gig will go ahead. Meanwhile the festival has come under fire from fans about the lack of female headliners on the main stage, something Emily Eavis said would change for next year's lineup. 

The highly-anticipated new TV series Daisy Jones and the Six has finally been released and now star of the show, Suki Waterhouse, has shared her new single for fans to enjoy. The model and actress, who plays Karen on the new streaming show, has shared her new track, To Love, which will feature on her upcoming second album and is described by Suki as a distinct portrait of her heart. Meanwhile, Suki stars alongside Sam Claflin and Riley Keogh in Daisy Jones and the Six which you can stream now on Prime Video. 

And Chaka Khan has issued an apology for comments she made about a list ranking the greatest singers of all time. The Queen of Funk told writers at Rolling Stone that they needed hearing aids after she was unimpressed by being ranked 29 out of 200 singers, but Chaka has now said sorry on social media, stating that she took to the bait to pit artists against each other. The soul singer added that being a musician or artist is not competition, but a gift for which she is truly grateful, before stating that she did not intend to cause pain or upset for anyone.

Who is Adele?

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins MBE is an English singer and songwriter. She is one of the world's best-selling music artists, with sales of over 120 million records. After graduating in arts from the BRIT School in 2006, Adele signed a record deal with XL Recordings.

In 2007, she received the Brit Award for Rising Star and won the BBC Sound of 2008 poll. Her debut album, 19, was released in 2008. It is certified 8x platinum in the UK and triple platinum in the US. The album contains her first song, 'Hometown Glory', written when she was just 16, which is based on her home suburb of West Norwood in London. An appearance she made on Saturday Night Live in late 2008 boosted her career in the US. At the 2009 Grammy Awards, Adele won the awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

Meet the diehard music fan who runs one of the world's busiest arenas

• London's O2 Arena is one of the world's busiest and sold a record 2.5 million tickets last year.
• The venue is managed by Steve Sayer, a music fan who previously worked for Manchester City.
• The O2 Arena presents comedy, boxing, UFC, esports and even monster trucks as well as music.

It may not be the world's most famous, but London's O2 Arena is now one of the busiest.

The venue, part of what began life as the Millennium Dome but was renamed The O2 following its sponsorship by a cell network, sold a record 2.5 million tickets last year — about 200,000 more than in 2022 — according to AEG.

That puts it in the same league as New York's Madison Square Garden, which first opened in 1879. Its London rival has only been oeprating since June 2007.

The O2 Arena has sold more than 30 million tickets since then, and in December notched up its 3,000th event: a concert by Tom Jones. The Welsh singer is known for songs such as "It's Not Unusual," and "Thunderball," which Business Insider once ranked as the 23rd best James Bond theme song (out of, erm, 25).

The arena is run by Steve Sayer, who joined AEG Europe a decade ago as commercial director before becoming general manager five years later. We meet in the windowless depths of the arena in the area behind the stage one chilly afternoon in March, just a couple of hours before a Jason Derulo concert.

Sayer says the O2 is one of those venues that "artists really want to play" because headlining it marks what he calls an "arrival moment" in their careers. Some 24 acts including SZA and Ateez headlined the arena for the first time last year, with a similar number including Olivia Rodrigo and Noah Kahan doing so this year.

Prince played an epic run of 21 sold-out dates in the summer of 2007, while Sayer also cites Madonna's six shows last year, along with runs from the likes of Elton John, Monty Python, Adele, and the Spice Girls as some of the venue's most memorable.

The O2 hosts about 220 shows a year, and Sayer is ultimately responsible for some 190 full-time staff, and as many as 700 on event days. While "it has its stresses from time to time, like any senior role — it's pretty full-on," he maintains that running the O2 is an enjoyable job.

Creating a good workplace culture is very important for Sayer, but so is "having fun along the way. I like to use that world thrive — I want people here to have a great experience as an employee, have opportunities to learn and develop and grow."

He describes music as his main passion, having grown up with two brothers who played a lot of records, and then started going to gigs and festivals as a teenager, discovering dance music and "the rest is history really."

Sayer, 49, says he decided to go to university in Manchester because of its music scene. After graduating with a geography degree he started working for the soccer club Manchester City, staying for 17 years and ending up as operations director overseeing match days and major events.

Sayer says he and his team have considerable autonomy to run the O2 Arena — the biggest business unit of AEG Europe — as they see fit. It was crowned "venue of the decade" by Billboard magazine in 2019, which suggests they're getting it right.

The division also operates arenas in Paris, Berlin, and Hamburg, as well as music festivals, tours, and other events. It's part of AEG, which was founded by Philip Anschutz and has become one of the world's biggest sports and live entertainment businesses.

While music accounts for about two-thirds of its shows, the arena also hosts everything from comedy to sport in the form of WWE, UFC, boxing, darts, and tennis; esports such as this November's League of Legends world championships; family and podcast shows — and even monster trucks.

The arena was closed for 18 months in 2020 and 2021 during the pandemic and Sayer says there was some doubt about whether demand for live entertainment would return, but those fears proved unfounded.

He rates the first post-pandemic show by Gorillaz — one of Sayer's favorite acts — as his top gig ever at the arena. It was a thank-you for staff in the UK's National Health Service — "the atmosphere was unbelievable that night." His other top acts are Leftfield, New Order, and The Killers.

Even before COVID-19 struck there'd been a growth in the "experience economy," and Sayer says that's even more the case now, with very buoyant demand for live performances in stadiums and festivals as well as arenas like his.

Something else that seems to keep rising is ticket prices. Sayer agrees that the cost of seeing some top-end superstars has escalated, but supply and demand is a factor along with higher costs for touring and production.

He says prices for some tickets for Madonna's Celebration tour last year were high, but that the production values for the show were "incredible." (This writer forked out a three-figure sum to see it, and apart from a late arrival meaning an abrupt early end when the 11pm curfew struck, I'm inclined to agree.)

AEG is improving the arena by adding 5G coverage, "frictionless" food and drink outlets, and refurbishing performers' dressing rooms.

It's also replaced 12 corporate boxes with The NinetyThird by Qatar Airways — a private members' club that costs about $20,000 a year and boasts a retractable walkway over the arena for a "wow" factor.

Sayer says this year is proving just as busy as 2023 for the O2 Arena with shows coming up from Take That, Olivia Rodrigo, Liam Gallagher, Girls Aloud, and The Killers.

One record that the London venue may not be able to break any time soon, however, is Billy Joel's decade-long residency at Madison Square Garden. The Piano Man is due to perform at the venue for the 150th time in July.

Fresh out of a pandemic, Australia’s 2023 touring calendar was one of the busiest in recent memory, as artists of all stripes took centrestage everywhere from stadium shows to intimate local gigs. With a starry schedule that included the likes of Post Malone , Red Hot Chili Peppers , and Mötley Crüe , it’ll be tricky for 2024’s schedule to outdo its predecessor – and yet, thanks to the likes of Taylor Swift , Blink-182 and Pink , plus Coldplay, Pearl Jam and SZA later in the year, it’s poised to do just that.

From debut headline shows for breakout artists to bustling festival sideshow programs, there’s something for everyone to enjoy as a stellar batch of musicians make their way Down Under in 2024. Read on for NME’s roundup of all the biggest concerts and tours coming to Australia this year.

Australia bloody loves Pink , and she’s apparently pretty fond of her “home away from home” too. In 2009, she played 58 shows here as part of her Funhouse tour, performing for some 660,000 fans. In 2013, when she announced an Australian tour in support of sixth studio album ‘The Truth About Love’, 320,000 tickets were snapped up within a few hours of them going on sale.

It makes sense, then, that the American singer-songwriter has a slew of dates booked for her return in February and March 2024 as part of her Summer Carnival world tour . She’ll be bringing songs from her ninth studio album ‘Trustfall’ to stadiums around the country, including stops in Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

She’ll be playing a total of four shows at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium and conclude the tour at Townsville’s Queensland Country Bank stadium.

Rising UK pop sensation Dylan makes her Australian debut in March, kicking off her three-date tour at The Brightside in Brisbane on March 18. American alt-country legends Drive-By Truckers haven’t visited Australia in a decade and a half. Their long-overdue 2024 tour will see them perform as part of Byron Bay Bluesfest, along with headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney.

The band have released a whopping seven albums since they last played in the country, so there’ll be plenty of new cuts for them to show off at these shows.

Costello and co’s plans for their first Australian tour in almost a decade were dashed at the 11th hour in April 2023. Less than 24 hours before their shows – in support of 2022 album ‘A Boy Named If’ – a case of COVID-19 within the band forced them to withdraw from Byron Bay Bluesfest 2023 and postpone their headline tour dates .

The good news is, new dates were swiftly locked in. To announce Thirty Seconds To Mars ’ Seasons World Tour, Jared Leto pulled a massive stunt: scaling the Empire State Building . The tour comes in support of their album ‘It’s The End Of The World But It’s A Beautiful Day’ and will hit Australian shores in mid-September. It marks the band’s first headline tour in over five years, and will see them grace the stage at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena (September 12), Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney (September 14) and Brisbane’s Riverstage (September 17). Yorkshire four-piece The Reytons are revivalists of another revival – 2000s British indie. But this band is independent in the truer sense of the word, self-releasing their latest album ‘Ballad of a Bystander’. They will tour their raucous, ungenteel rock from late September to early October this year, packing rooms in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.

US-based homegrown rap phenom The Kid LAROI ‘s return to Australia was supposed to take place in February, but it was postponed in December , with the Gamilaroi star calling February “logistically impossible”. Instead, he’ll fill stadiums around the country in October with tracks from his freshly released debut album ‘The First Time’. With shows locked in for Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and the Gold Coast, these all-ages shows will be his biggest to date. Stay tuned for more info on specific dates for the rescheduled tour.

Kim Wilde: The Greatest Hits Tour When: October 17 – October 26 Find more info and tickets here

If you look at the pop charts for any given week in the 1980s, chances are Kim Wilde was on it. The ‘Kids in America’ singer is still performing, on a break from her new life as a gardener, and will play a whirlwind Australian tour this October. Wilde will begin in Brisbane on October 17, before heading through Tweed Heads, Sydney, Wollongong, Perth, Adelaide and finishing in Melbourne October 26.

Buzzcocks When: October 24 – November 2 Find more info and tickets here

The Buzzcocks , progenitors of “love punk” and pop punk before it even existed, are still going strong almost 50 years after their formation. With Steve Diggle on vocals, replacing the late Pete Shelley, the band will return to Australia for seven shows in late October to early November. The Buzzcocks will begin on the Gold Coast on October 24, before travelling through Brisbane, Adelaide, Fremantle, Newcastle, Sydney and finishing in Melbourne on November 2.

PinkPantheress was once an anonymous beatmaker going viral on TikTok – she’s anything but anonymous now, as she comes to Australia for the first time promoting her debut album ‘Heaven’. Between opening for Coldplay , the 22-year-old Brit will headline shows at Melbourne’s Festival Hall (October 29) and Horden Pavilion in Sydney on November 5.

Coldplay will bring their ‘Music of the Spheres’ tour to Australia’s east coast at the end of a more than two-year stretch. The pop juggernauts have already sold 9 million tickets – the most for any tour in history – and are set to play eight stadium shows in Melbourne and Sydney after playing in Perth in 2023.

Expect to experience the galactic sprawl of the band’s recent rock operas, while still belting out the anthems that took them to the top.

It’ll be murder on the dancefloor when this tour comes to town. Sophie Ellis-Bextor , enjoying a Saltburn -fueled resurgence, will accompany Take That on a six-show tour of Australia . Three dates of the tour, which marks Take That’s first live shows in the region since 2017, will take place at wineries as part of A Day on the Green, where Ricki-Lee Coulter will also appear.

Irish singer-songwriter Hozier will tour Down Under for the first time since 2019 this November, supporting his 2023 album ‘Unreal Unearth’ with a nation-wide arena sojourn. Hozier will kick off in Perth on November 6, before heading through Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. He will also play regional areas Torquay and the Hunter Valley as part of Summersalt festival.

In what marks her biggest headline Australian shows to date, Tate McRae’s Think Later World Tour will head Down Under in November, encompassing five shows in Perth (November 8), Brisbane (November 10), Sydney (November 12), Adelaide (November 15) and Melbourne (November 17). The tour comes in support of McRae’s sophomore album ‘Think Later’, which features her massive single ‘Greedy’. Tickets are available here.

Pearl Jam: Dark Matter World Tour 2024 When: November 13 – November 23 Find tickets and more info

Pearl Jam have announced their new album ‘Dark Matter’, which they’ll support with a massive tour around the world . They’ll make a stop Down Under with Pixies in support, playing stadium shows in the Gold Coast, Melbourne and Sydney. Self-deprecating superstar James Blunt is returning to Australian stages for the first time in over six years in November 2024. The ‘You’re Beautiful’ singer will begin a five-date arena tour at Brisbane’s Riverstage on November 21, before heading through Sydney’s ICC Super Theatre (November 23), Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena (November 24), Adelaide’s Entertainment Centre Theatre (November 25) and Perth’s Red Hill Auditorium (November 28).

US alt-rockers Wallows played some of their favourite shows ever on their previous tour of Australia – so they’ll undoubtedly be looking to top the experience when they return in December. They’ll kick things off in Perth, before heading to Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and finally Brisbane.

Aussie Depeche Mode fans are an incredibly patient bunch. The last time the British synth-pop titans toured the country was in 1994, meaning nearly three decades have passed since they last paid us a visit. But good things come to those who wait, and it seems there is a glimmer of hope for those hoping to catch the band Down Under.

In March 2023, Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan told an Italian blog that the band were eyeing “as-yet-unannounced dates in Asia and Australia” as part of a touring run that would lead into 2024. The band have toured the world in support of their latest album, ‘Memento Mori’ , and a trip to Australia to cap off the jaunt seems more likely than ever.
