You will head over to the island on the first day and with no touring planned stay at Kingfisher Bay Resort for a pre-night. Here you relax by the pool or grab something yummy at the restaurant. Or go for a stroll on the beach and take in the sunset at the jetty. The next morning your picked up from Kingfisher Bay Resort for a fun day of touring Fraser Island. Night 2 you will stay at Eurong Resort and with the 3rd day full of touring you then take the ferry back over to Hervey Bay.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Depart Rainbow Beach

The morning starts bright & early with our compulsory tour briefing at 7am sharp at Freedom Hostel, to receive comprehensive information to prepare you for this exciting journey. Here you will be placed into groups and have the opportunity to organise sleeping bag hire and luggage storage. You will also be taught how to drive safely on Fraser Island ahead of your big adventure!

We aim to depart Freedom Hostel  for K'gari (Fraser Island) by 9:30 am which can take approximately 10 minutes to drive to the barge (ferry) and board for your 10-minute barge crossing. Once you have arrived on the world's largest sand island, drive for 1 hour to the Eurong Beach Resort along 75 Mile beach - K'gari's (Fraser Island) own highway with speed limits!  There you can grab a coffee and chocolate croissant (own cost) for morning tea. From here, the adventure really begins, as we drive to the famous Lake McKenzie, one of the most popular and picturesque highlights of K'gari (Fraser Island). We stop for lunch and time to swim and relax in the amazingly clear waters of the lake before driving up the beach to your campsite around 3:00 pm. Settle in for an early dinner, some well-deserved drinks and plenty of fun! 

Day 2: K'gari (Fraser Island) 

The day begins with a quick breakfast to fuel your busiest day on K'gari (Fraser Island)! First stop is Eli Creek, a beautifully clear creek perfect for a relaxing swim. Travelling north, stop at Maheno Shipwreck for a photo opportunity and a short history lesson about this famous K'gari (Fraser Island) icon before continuing on to Indian Head, K'gari's (Fraser Island) highest point. From here you may be lucky enough to see whales and sharks in the ocean before travelling to Champagne Pools for a dip. Lunch is served at either Maheno Shipwreck or Champagne Pools on Day 2 depending on time constraints, safety and beauty. In the afternoon, travel back to camp for dinner and drinks. 

Day 3: Return to Rainbow Beach

Start with breakfast before cleaning and disassembling your campsite. Once packed up, you'll drive to the beginning of the Lake Wabby walk where you'll stride through the dunes to find a tropical paradise! Lunch follows your trip to Lake Wabby before you begin the drive down the beach and back to the barge. Once arrived on the mainland, head to the 4WD shed where you can unpack and quickly clean the cars. You will return to Freedom Hostel between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm.

Best Beaches, Rainforest and Islands – 13 Day Flashpacker Adventure Tour

My boyfriend and I travelled from Brisbane to Cairns with Via travel two weeks ago and had the trip of a lifetime! Although everywhere we visited was amazing, some of the highlights for me were Magnetic Island (our favourite!!), which gave us the chance to see koalas, wallabies and lots of wildlife up close and in their natural habitats, snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, where we saw incredible aquatic life and coral (an absolute must do!!) and our Indigenous culture experience with Kuku Yalanji tours where we were completely out of our comfort zone but learned so much and got a real insight into local culture. We absolutely loved the small tour group size too, which allowed us to get to know everyone really well within a couple of days and make friends from all corners of the world! The group dinners and nights out that we had were so much fun! What people love about fraser island tours.

One of my favourite parts of the tour was snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef. I hadn’t been in the sea for 13 years and every time we did a sea activity on the trip I didn’t participate. Shannon was determined to increase my confidence in the water. She helped me with a snorkel mask and showing me how to stay calm and breath. We made an agreement that I would snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef. I was so scared but Shannon was so supportive and helpful, if it wasn’t for her encouragement I probably wouldn’t have done it. Now I love snorkelling, and one week after this I did it again! Thanks so much Shannon, the best tour leader and friend!

Fraser Adventure Tours runs two different itineraries for its day trips. With a private tour, your itinerary is customisable to suit your group! The destinations you visit just have to fit with the tide times on the day. Here are the two sample itineraries that your private tour may follow.

This sample itinerary focuses on the fabulous beaches, lakes, and forests of K'gari. Sights you get to see include Lake McKenzie, the iconic perched lake with powdery white sand, and Central Station, a former logging station with stunning rainforest walking trails. You'll also get to drive along the golden sands of 75 Mile Beach and admire the incredible coastal scenery. 

Fraser Adventure Nature Day Tour

An alternate itinerary is the Adventure Nature Day Tour, which also includes 75 Mile Beach but visits a less touristy perched lake, Lake Birrabeen. You'll also get to visit the historic Maheno Shipwreck and the pristine Eli Creek, where you can float down the refreshing waters and immerse yourself in the tranquil forest ambience. 

Whatever itinerary your private tour follows, there is so much to see and do during a day on K'gari (Fraser Island)!

• Floatie devices are not provided for floating at any of the lakes/Eli Creek. You can bring inflatable floaties if they fit inside your bag.  However, you cannot bring anything onto the bus that does not deflate.

Important Information: 

• Please note this tour may not be suitable if you have existing neck or back problems or are pregnant. Check with your agent to make sure this tour is suitable for you.
• Tour not recommended for children under the age of 4. Child seats are not permitted, however, passengers can bring a booster seat compatible with seat belts. 

Your Responsibilities:

Please advise us before booking if any passengers are under 18 years old to ensure this is the appropriate trip. 

You must reconfirm all booked tours prior to travel as specified on your voucher. If applicable, notes such as dietary requirements, pick-up locations and additional fees should also be confirmed at this time. Reconfirmations cannot be actioned through Fraser Tours / Mr Travel, and must be done so directly through the Service Operator as specified on each ticket.

It is your responsibility to notify us of ticket discrepancies. Please read through the details on your voucher thoroughly to ensure all details such as passenger names, ages and dates of travel on vouchers are correct.

It is the responsibility of all passengers travelling to advise both your travel agent at the time of booking and vessel check-in agent before boarding of any medical conditions including food allergies you may suffer from.

You need to allow adequate time to check-in prior to the specified departure time. 

Prices/Extra Costs:

All prices are stated in Australian dollars and include GST. Surcharges over peak holiday seasons may apply. 

The Service Operator reserves the right to alter prices and extra costs. Extra costs may include EMC fees, Stingersuit/Wetsuit Hire, Luggage Storage, Insurance, Linen Hire, National Park Fees, Fuel Levies, Dietary Fees, etc. Bonds may also apply.

We will also endeavour to communicate these extra costs with you at the time of booking, and on your ticket. However, it is your responsibility to confirm which (if any) additional costs apply with each Service Operator upon reconfirming your trip.

Travel Risk/Insurance:

It should be noted that adventure travel involves risk. Whilst we make every effort to safeguard clients, we cannot be responsible for personal injury or loss due to the actions of our clients which are beyond our control. All departures and itineraries are subject to weather. Tours may be changed or cancelled for any reason at the discretion of the Tour Operator. We highly recommend that all clients have travel insurance covering illness, injury, loss or damage to personal belongings and not being able to travel on the confirmed date of departure. You should also ensure your travel insurance will cover special circumstances including weather events preventing guests from travelling to their tour departure destination and cancelled flights due to unforeseen circumstances. 

Merchant Fees:

Please be aware operators pass on credit card merchant fees so there is a non-refundable 1% surcharge for VISA and MASTERCARD card purchases.

All ticket/voucher reissues attract a $20 administration fee.

Open Date Vouchers / Gift Certificate:

Shipping Costs are in addition to the ticket price and will be added at check-out. Shipping costs are non-refundable and do not makeup part of the ticket value. 

E-Vouchers incur no shipping fees. You have 5 years to use the value of the voucher. Seasonal Price Rises will apply if travelling out the current seasons pricing. Vouchers can be exchanged for free up to the full value of the voucher excluding credit card fees and charges.

Cancellations

Client Cancellations:

All cancellations forfeit 25% of the recommended retail price (RRP) - not the discounted/sale price. No shows or client cancellations made within 72 hours of departure forfeit 100% of the total ticket price. 

Transfers between tours can be made at the suppliers discretion, however, it should be noted that supplier fees may apply. Tour transfers also incur a $20 administration fee. 

It is compulsory that all cancellation requests are in writing and sent via email to [email protected]. Cancellations attempted via online chat or phone will not be actioned.

Supplier Cancellations:

The Service Operator reserves the right to alter prices, alter itineraries, apply a fuel surcharge, cancel departures, arrange alternative transport and vary itineraries and services if necessary.

All departures and itineraries are subject to weather. Tours may be changed or cancelled for any reason at the discretion of the Service Operator. If the Service Operator has to cancel the trip or activity (prior to departure) and we cannot offer a suitable alternative, then a refund will be given minus a 20% administration fee and any associated card fees. We strongly recommend that you have travel insurance, especially during the wet season.

In the unlikely event of your trip being cancelled or stood down, all guest communication is required to go through our Online Store via telephone or email. While there is a Sailing Whitsundays retail outlet located Airlie Beach, please be aware that they operate as a separate entity and are unable to access reservations made by the Mr Travel online department.

All refunds are in Australian Dollars and must be made to the card of payment. Sailing Whitsundays/Mr Travel is not liable for exchange rate fluctuations or fees, or any other merchant/bank fees associated with domestic and/or international transactions.

Where a full refund is applicable, there is the option to transfer the whole cost of the tour to another tour or “Credit” to avoid the administration fee. A transfer fee of $20 will apply.

You will be emailed confirmation once the refund has been processed. Once the refund has been processed, it may still take time for the banks to clear the amount. Please allow 7-10 business days for the funds to clear into Australian accounts and up to 21 business days for international accounts.

Accountability/Misconduct:

All Service Operators have the right to provide client feedback and to cancel bookings based off of feedback from other Service Operators.

Sailing Whitsundays/Mr Travel will treat this as any normal client cancellation and therefore the cancellation fees stated in the Client Cancellation Policy will apply.

Floaties are not provided but you are welcome to bring your own! However, you cannot bring any large inflatables onto the bus if they don't deflate. Make sure your floaties fit inside your bag. 

Fraser Adventure runs two separate day tours with two different itineraries: the Adventure Day Tour and the Adventure Nature Day Tour . Guided day tours follow one of the two itineraries, however a private tour is more flexible. You can choose which itinerary you want to follow, or enquire about altering any of the itineraries to suit your needs.

Due to the extreme Off Road conditions on Moreton Island, it should be noted that activities can occasionally be affected due to cases of tidal issues, mechanical issues and other operational issue unique to Moreton Island, and while every effort and care is taken, Sunset Safaris takes no responsibility for such factors affecting tour activities. We do not encourage customers to rely heavily on tour times due tides, winds and off road conditions, and Sunset Safaris takes no responsibility for the missing of ferry’s or tours in such circumstances.
