Schools & Youth Groups Ireland

Through adventure, we inspire. when you take the classroom outdoors you bring learning to life with our school tours in ireland..

School Tours & Youth Groups Connemara – Working with young people over the last 30 years has shown us that getting from A to B – whether you walk, climb, kayak or zip wire – is easier if you work together.

We work with school groups to build new friendships and nurture confidence. To sum it up, coming to Delphi is a true adventure. You’ll feel relaxed knowing that your school group is supervised and happy And they’ll have fun doing the things that can’t be done in a classroom, whether that means climbing hills or crossing rivers.

Our experienced instructors are fully certified and safety accredited so you can be sure that your school tour group are being properly looked after. And your own luxury accommodation isn’t too far away so you can keep an eye on how they’re doing. Like we said, students have a full activity programme, so when they’re not involved in sports and challenges, they’re enjoying a full spread of nutritional food at mealtimes. In the evenings, we always have activities to help the students socialise.

For your pupils to realise the inside, you’ve got to take them outside.

We love it when students show their sense of adventure. Whether kayaking in Killary Harbour, cycling through the spectacular Delphi Valley, climbing the peaks of Connemara, surfing on the local blue flag beaches, or problem solving on our Delphi Challenges, we want them to get out there and learn new things. We work in teams to help students become confident leaders and better team players.

Harrow School Hong Kong

I just wanted to thank you for putting together such a great trip for our students. The feedback from the staff was excellent and they were particularly impressed by the communication in the build-up to the trip, along with the local knowledge of the guide, the range of activities, and the clear contingency planning when the weather didn't cooperate. I am very keen that we repeat this trip next year…

Harrow School Hong Kong

Harris Girls' Academy

The students got the chance to experience the environment of a corporate office which gave them an idea of what working life might be like in the future. The workshops and talk by the guest speaker gave the students insights into start-up businesses and ways in which they can seek support to be entrepreneurs. The students felt really inspired by the talk given by the young entrepreneur as having a young person speak to them about success helped the students to understand that they can have confidence in themselves and their futures. The students enjoyed the workshop where they were given the opportunity to work together and share creative thoughts about start-up ideas. Thank you for organising a really insightful, educational and fun-filled trip for our students. They really enjoyed it!

Thanks for being fun, polite, and patient. We appreciated everything from bringing us on subways to public transport to ordering special food to being on time.

I really enjoyed every part of The Learning Adventure as it helped me learn a lot of new interesting things and gave me an insight into business and how to make a start in it, particularly a start- up. Beginning with a short tour around Greater London informed our team about the historical context of the amazing business district and how it all started, and later on I found the start-up activity absorbing and interactive while the entrepreneur who talked to us about such things like career options helped a lot. Our guide was friendly and everything went smoothly. Thank you so much The Learning Adventure!

Thank you so much for the incredible experience, we all had an amazing time. I can't stress enough how great Katsumi was as a guide, he built a great relationship with the students and helped us feel safe and engaged throughout. Nishant was also very good when we had him for Kesenumma and he again built good relationships with the kids and his knowledge was great. Thanks again and look forward to working together again down the line!

We enjoyed all the activities immensely, there was a huge range. The school we visited this time was brilliant, so well organised. The guides really tried hard to reference the aims of the trip. Peter was exceptional, he was kind and was very concerned that everyone was well and enjoying themselves. He was also very informative. The geography lecturer was exceptional and fitted the brief 110%!

Health & safety were well taken care of. None of the travellers got sick because of food on the trip, and an effort was always made to ensure the cleanest available restroom. We were always advised to wear seatbelts on the bus when on the highway. The food in Shanghai was a good variety of both dishes and cuisine, and I really appreciated how much effort Caroline put into making sure our 素菜宝宝 had enough to eat.

A pub in the Ribble Valley, England, UK

How to plan a food trip through the Ribble Valley, UK

Michelin-starred dining, independent butchers and artisan cheesemakers make this beautiful corner of Lancashire a rural idyll for food travellers.

From its blasted fells and verdant plateaus to its tangled woods and meandering rivers, the Ribble Valley is a rural wonderland that apparently inspired the otherworldly landscapes of JRR Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings . It is a natural haven for birders, walkers and cyclists, particularly where this corner of Lancashire merges into the Forest of Bowland, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The Ribble Valley also tastes amazing. A seasonal food ethos grows out of its fertile farmland, underpinning the work of Michelin-acclaimed restaurants such as the Northcote in Langho and market-town gems such as Cowman’s sausage shop in Clitheroe. Key local producers, such as cheesemaker Mrs Kirkham’s, enjoy national recognition. Yet none of this feels overexposed. With the majority of travellers passing by the Ribble as they rush north to the Lake District, it continues to offer visitors a sense of discovery.

Where to eat at in the Ribble Valley

1. The Parkers Arms , Newton-in-Bowland

Reaching No 7 on the Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs in the UK list in 2023, The Parkers Arms has long been a place of pilgrimage for clued-up foodies. It serves gutsy Lancastrian cooking – and its pies are legendary. But that only tells half the story. Chef Stosie Madi’s work is often deft and light, exemplified by her fish cookery, while her French-Lebanese heritage brings a distinctive flavour to the menu. Dishes might range from minced mutton manoushe flatbreads to braised Bowland rabbit leg, butter-roasted loin, mustard sauce, mash and greens. Passing walkers or cyclists can snack from the bar menu. Three courses, £50.

A white plate on a wooden table, with a lobster dish in a burnt orange colour sauce.

2. Northcote , Langho

The valley’s benchmark dining destination for more than three decades, this Michelin-star restaurant and boutique hotel is constantly evolving. From its cookery school to the annual international guest chef event Obsession (in January and February), there are always interesting things happening at Northcote. Expect seasonally driven dishes, such as halibut with Jerusalem artichoke and winter truffle or aged dairy cow tartare, warm bone-marrow, alliums and horseradish, accompanied by exceptional wines from managing director Craig Bancroft’s lovingly curated cellar. Mains from £29; doubles from £216 per night, B & B.

3. La Locanda , Gisburn

High-quality local, seasonal ingredients are the cornerstone of Italian cooking – so, naturally, chef Maurizio Bocchi feels at home in the Ribble Valley. Key imports such as wine and olive oil aside, the Modena native cooks authentic Italian dishes using local meats, game, dairy and vegetables. The menu might include rabbit stuffed with Tuscan sausage and cabbage with rosemary potatoes, or cappellacci pasta filled with pumpkin and amaretti biscuits, finished with butter, sage and hazelnuts – served up in La Locanda’s comfortable farmhouse-style space. Mains from £15.

A close up shot of a bowl of seafood soup with shelled fish in a white bowl. In the background are bowls of the raw ingredients of the soup.

4. The Inn at Whitewell , near Dunsop Bridge

This remote inn on the River Hodder has accommodated travellers since the 16th century. It is an evocative old building; all worn flagstone floors and roaring fires. Eat in its cosy bars or restaurant. First visit? Look to those dishes, such as the fish pie, chicken liver pate or bangers and champ with onion gravy, that have become established classics over many years. Do not miss the in-house wine shop. Mains from £16.50; doubles from £145 per night, room only.

5. Freemasons at Wiswell , near Whalley

A degree of fine dining glitz runs through chef Steven Smith’s polished pub. You will find Sunday roasts as well as complex and creative dishes, such as prawn mousse-filled sea bass with Thai mussel curry, and salt and pepper tempura broccoli. There is a tasting menu, a chef’s table for those who like to watch kitchens work and, for those staying over, four stylish bedrooms. Mains from £39; doubles from £240 per night, B & B.

Two chefs garnishing multiple dishes in a restaurant kitchen

An unmissable experience

Bowland Brewery

In its attractive food hall, upmarket cinema and bowling lanes, Holmes Mill development in Clitheroe offers numerous distractions. Heaven for cask and craft ale drinkers, its large beer hall is also the home to Bowland Brewery, which for 20 years has quenched local thirsts with tipples such as its classic, citrusy pale Hen Harrier or the Bowland Bumble, made with honey from the brewery’s beehives at nearby Little Middop Farm. On select Fridays, outside operational brewing hours, tours offer visitors the chance to learn about the brewing process: from raw malts and hops to the mash tun and the fermentation tanks. A tutored tasting of three third-pints follows. One-hour tours, £20 per person.

Where to stay

The Higher Buck, Waddington

Is Waddington the Ribble Valley’s prettiest village? Fans of Hurst Green, Downham or Chipping might disagree, but this cluster of ancient buildings huddled around a gurgling stream is unquestionably idyllic – and home to three individually compelling pubs (see also The Lower Buck Inn and Waddington Arms). The Higher Buck has seven handsome, well-maintained bedrooms while its crowd-pleasing menu similarly excels. A cheddar soufflé with apple chutney and the Buck’s sensational steamed steak and ale pudding are testament to chef-landlord Michael Heathcote’s rigour. Mains from £17; doubles from £115 per night, B & B.

Outdoor School Programs

During your school field trip to Frost Valley YMCA, we invite you and your students to visit our outdoor classroom—the forest, fields, hiking trails, lakeshore, and riverbeds—where education lives and breathes. Here, students learn the natural way and experience transformation.

Our Frost Valley YMCA staff can help you design and conduct programs that meet the standards of New York and New Jersey curriculum and the requirements of New York City Watershed Education grants. But we do more than offer top-notch environmental education, academic support in reading, writing, math, science and art, challenging adventure courses, and recreation. We impart our values—the foundation of everything we do—to students and teachers alike, sparking the transformation from student to leader in just a few days, inspiring a passion for lifelong learning.

Outdoor School Programs Brochure:

In addition to our robust environmental education curriculum, Frost Valley offers a wide range of team building programs designed to bring your students together as a cohesive team through games, challenges, high ropes and low ropes courses, thoughtful reflection and much more.

Arizona Footprints: Heritage & Service 2022

  • AZ Footprint seeks to enhance students' understanding of the biodiversity, culture, and history which enriches the modern landscape of Southern Arizona while focusing on the VVS principles of environmental stewardship, the value of physical labor, and service to others. Our trip begins with one night at Kartchner Caverns State Park where we’ll visit a pristine living cave system.  From there, we’ll head to historic Camp Rucker, nestled in the Chiricahua Mountains, for four nights.  While at Camp Rucker, we will complete historic preservation projects with VVS alum and esteemed Forest Service archaeologist, Chris Schrager.  We will then spend time in Bisbee (3 nights), Tucson (3 nights), and the surrounding areas visiting essential sites.  These include Whitewater Draw Wildlife Area, the Mexico/United States border wall, the San Pedro River, the Dragoon Mountains, the Bisbee Mining Museum, Coronado National Monument, Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum, El Presidio San Agustin del Tucson and Catalina State Park.  Poet, Logan Philips, will help us put our experience on the page as we think about all this region has shown us. Water in the West: Changing Climates 2021

  • Water in the West is a field expedition that immerses students in the stunning landscapes and complex issues surrounding our most precious resource. With the Colorado River Watershed serving as the focal point of our trip, we will explore the ecological, cultural, and socio-political aspects of this lifeblood of the Southwest. Students will spend four days backpacking through Grand Gulch, followed by four days and three nights traveling the San Juan River on rafts and kayaks. Side-hikes to geologic vistas and places of historic and cultural significance will give participants a grounding in place. The trip will incorporate service with the intention of restoring and improving riparian and aquatic ecosystems in the desert Southwest.

Catalina Island: Overland & Undersea 2021

  • This Field Trip takes place on Catalina Island, one of the beautiful Channel Islands off the Southern California coast, and is split into two distinct parts; one exploring the unique terrestrial island ecosystem, and one exploring the coastal waters and kelp forests of the edge of the Pacific Ocean.  For the first part of the trip students will take an open-water SCUBA course (PADI/NAUI equivalent) in order to attempt to gain their open-water certification (there are swimming, health-related, and online work prerequisites for this course).  In the second half of the trip we will tackle the Trans-Catalina Trail, backpacking the 30-mile length of the island from north to south.  These two totally different but complementary activities - SCUBA and backpacking - will allow us to fully immerse ourselves in this very special place, emerging with new skills, certifications, and accomplishments.

Colorado Sustainability & Sense of Place 2021

  • This trip will be based out of John’s property in Durango where we have three acres and a strawbale house that borders the National Forest and the Falls Creek Archaeological Area. The students will learn about straw bale construction and sustainability while camping on our property, which was once inhabited by the Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellers of the region. Students will take on a sustainability project such as building a pizza oven on the property, while learning about the Ancient Puebloan culture that was present in the valley 800 years ago.  Challenging day hikes and excursions could include a guided hike to the Falls Creek Archeological Area, day hike on the Colorado Trail, which starts a half mile from the property, a day excursion to Mesa Verde, and a day hike to the Canyon of the Ancients near Cortez. The trip will conclude with a pizza party cooked in the oven that students build.

Students will spend four days exploring the Santa Fe mountains on day hikes, maintaining a base camp in the front country. Students will then transition to a four-day, 25 mile backpack through the Taos area wilderness. All the while, students will walk in the footsteps of frontier artists whose striking imagery of the American West inspired settlers, filmmakers, and prospectors from around the world. Each student will complete artwork on a daily basis that will culminate in an exhibition of the sketches, watercolors, photographs, and other forms of artistic design they completed in the wild.

Best time to travel: June for the “White Nights” Best gateway city: Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia Moscow and St. Petersburg Slide Show

Experience the art treasures of Moscow and St. Petersburg with guide, Amy Osaki. Begin in Moscow, continental Europe’s largest city, the seat of the government of Russia, and now home to over twenty billionaires! View iconic sites such as the Kremlin (which began as a fortress in the eleventh century), Red Square, and the sixteenth century St. Basil’s Cathedral. Then explore the art masterpieces at the Tretyakov Gallery, the National Museum of Russian Fine Art encompassing works from the eleventh to the twentieth century. Visit the Armory at the Kremlin filled with Imperial treasures including Faberge eggs once exchanged by the tsar and tsarina at Easter. Conclude your Moscow experience at the quiet seventeenth century Novodevichy Convent, one of many World Heritage sites included in the trip.

After a short flight, continue the trip with five days in St. Petersburg where you’ll be immersed in the opulence of Imperial Russia. Established by Tsar Peter I in 1703, St. Petersburg (known as Petrograd and Leningrad for most of the twentieth century) was the capital of the Russian empire for over two hundred years until the Russian Revolution of 1917. The Hermitage—said to be the largest art museum in the world with a collection of over three million objects housed in four main buildings—rivals the Louvre in Paris for both the quantity and quality of its treasures. Founded in 1764 by Catherine the Great, and open to the pubic for over two hundred years the museum is so vast that we’ll spread our visit out over several days and organize it by different themes. Also on the schedule is a visit to the Peter and Paul Fortress—the original citadel above the river founded in 1703—as well as some of the Imperial palaces in and around St. Petersburg such as Peterhof, a World Heritage Site. Peter I hired French architects to work on his many palaces, including Jean Baptiste Le Blond who worked with Andre Le Notre at Versailles. Consider enhancing your Russian experience by purchasing tickets to a performance—perhaps a ballet at St. Petersburg’s Mariinsky Theatre (also known as the Kirov).

Day 1 Overnight in Moscow Arrive in Moscow and transfer to your centrally-located hotel, your base for the next two nights. Enjoy an afternoon and early evening walk through Red Square (Krasnaya Ploshchad) past St. Basil’s Cathedral, and GUM department store all of which are back-dropped by the walls of the Kremlin fortress. Remember that we are here during the fabled “White Nights” when the summer days linger with light-filled evenings.

Day 2 Overnight in Moscow Within the walls of the Kremlin fortress, visit the Armoury Museum, one of Moscow’s oldest museums established at the start of the nineteenth century. The Kremlin Armoury was the royal arsenal; it produced and stored the weapons, jewelry and other regalia of the tsars. The museum’s collection encompasses four thousand items of applied art from Russia and elsewhere dating from the early fourth century to the twentieth century. Later in the day, visit the collection of masterpieces of the renowned Tretyakov Gallery. The Tretyakov collections were begun by the philanthropist Tretyakov brothers in the early nineteenth century. The gallery is recognized by many as a key repository of Russian art spanning the nation’s artistic tradition from early Orthodox icons to art nouveau, impressionist, and avant-garde works.

Day 3 Overnight in St Petersburg Enjoy a morning visit to the sixteenth century Novodevichy Convent named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2004. The convent’s name is sometimes translated as “New Maidens’ Monastery” to differentiate is from the convent within the walls of the Moscow Kremlin. Surrounded by white crenellated walls, this complex of churches has remained essentially intact since the seventeenth century. Here you’ll find the five-domed Cathedral of Our Lady of Smolensk with its spectacular iconostasis and the tall, red and white Gate Church of the Transfiguration which is often cited as a fine example of “Moscow Baroque” architecture. The neighboring Novodevichy Cemetery is the final resting place of the likes of Anton Chekhov, Sergei Prokofiev, Dmitri Shostakovich, and Boris Yeltsin. This afternoon fly to St. Petersburg, Russia’s second largest city situated on the banks of the Neva River where it empties into the Gulf of Finland.

Day 4 Overnight in St Petersburg Start of your exploration of St. Petersburg with a visit to the Peter and Paul Fortress, the original citadel of St. Petersburg. The fortress was built to the designs of the Swiss Italian architect Domenico Trezzini in the early eighteenth century. Trezzini’s Peter and Paul Cathedral dominates the fortress grounds and its iconic golden spire punctuates into the Baltic sky. Later visit the Yusupov Palace on the Moika, acclaimed as an “encyclopedia of St. Petersburg aristocratic interior design.” The palace was the home of the Yusupov family from 1830 and 1917 and was the place where Grigori Rasputin, a spiritual mentor to Tsar Nicholas II and the Royal Family in the early 20th century, was assassinated. A visit to the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood built between 1883 and 1907 rounds out the day. The church was built in “Russian Revivalist” architectural style by Tsar Alexander III in commemoration of his father, Alexander II. The church occupies a conspicuous location on St. Petersburg’s Griboedov Canal and contains 7,500 square meters of mosaics; the interior walls and ceilings are completely covered by mosaics.

Day 5 Overnight in St Petersburg Seeing St. Petersburg’s Hermitage Museum in a day would be like trying to see the Smithsonian in a day! Rather than a forced march through the galleries at a rapid pace, we will slow down and savor the masterpieces. Remember, there are nearly seven miles worth of exhibitions! Today we focus on “Imperial Russia,” touring the rooms decorated for members of the Russian Imperial Family and viewing the art they commissioned and collected. This is the art that influenced the style of the grand palaces of the era. View the Grand Suite of rooms, Peter I’s collection of gold, and the jewelers art owned by the Russian Imperial Family (including Fabergé eggs, gold and diamonds). Here, too, are the rooms of Catherine II and her son Paul I with their fifteenth to eighteenth century French paintings and sculpture (Poussin, Watteau, Fragonard, Chardin, and Houdon).

Day 6 Overnight in St Petersburg Return for a second dose of the Hermitage! Today is dedicated to the famous European masterpieces exhibited at the Hermitage. Feast your eyes on memorable works by Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo, Tintoretto, Tiepolo, Velazquez, and El Greco. At the Hermitage, you can revel in Rembrandt; there are twenty of his works in the museum’s collection. After lunch, enjoy the eighteenth to twentieth century masterpieces of Monet, van Gogh, Gauguin, Rodin, Picasso, Matisse and Kandinsky. Digest the art and reflect on this unique collection of human creations. Consider an evening performance, possibly at the Mariinsky Theatre.

Day 7 Overnight in St Petersburg Journey by hydrofoil across the Gulf of Finland to experience Peter I’s palace at Peterhof, a series of palaces and gardens that evoke comparisons with Versailles which Peter visited in 1715. Begun in 1714 with the construction of the Monplaisir palace and expanded by later Imperial generations who added Rococo and Neo-classical elements, Peterhof is now a World Heritage Site. The creative mastery of architects, engineers, artists and craftsmen from throughout Europe is on display here and all is choreographed to celebrate water in homage to Peter, the maritime emperor.

Day 8 Overnight in St Petersburg Go behind the scenes with an excursion to the Hermitage Museum’s Staraya Derevnya Restoration and Storage Center on the right back of the Neva River north of Kamenny Island. This vast treasure house is only accessible by private tour. Later, travel to Vasilvesky Island across the river from the Hermitage to visit Menishkov Palace completed in 1721 and now the oldest stone building in St. Petersburg. Enjoy a farewell dinner this evening.

Extremely knowledgeable about Moscow, took us to local places, such as the vodka bars, very flexible in arrangements. Highly recommended. Read more Written May 26, 2020
  • geertk658 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Very interesting days in Mosow We had two day-trips with Tony. The first day we did a walking and metro-tour of Moscow, the second day we went to Sergiev Posad and a datcha belonging to friends of Tony. Both days were great. We learned a lot about local life and saw places we would never have found if we had done everything by ourselves. Tony is very talkative, has a good sense of humour and speaks excellent English. We have planned to go back to Moscow in the future and for sure we will use Tony's service again then. Read more Written January 18, 2020
  • Jacky H 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Another view of Moscow Super interesting from 1st minute until last. We have dicovered a lot of places of hidden Moscow. Our guide was exceptional. Effectively Moscow was completely different during soviet period. That we knew before.... But so deeply different it was not possible to imagine before this tour. Also the bar to drink shot(s) of vodka. Looking like 30 years ago. A great and unforgettable discovery. Read more Written January 3, 2020
  • LondonE7 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Private six day Golden Ring tour and further north into Russian wilderness I booked Tony for the six day Golden Ring tour (there is not an option in the tour selections above). Tony was very easy to correspond with beforehand and arranging the visa documents which was a pain from my first Russia trip and has very good English. It met Tony in Moscow after arriving from Kazan. We had the six days penciled in and improvised the trip as we went along depending on interest. At Tony's suggestion we went further north of the traditional Golden Ring at Kostroma into the frontier towns of Galich and Soligalich, which are time capsules and normal road access ends. We then detoured into the wilderness from Chukhloma to the Lesney Terem Astashovo Wood Palace hotel which is a museum hotel. We then hiked thru logging mud trails and crossing a river to get to a second run down Wood Palace where a local still lives and was happy to show us around. There are videos of all our experiences on my youtube channel [departures1]. After rejoining the Golden Ring route from Yaroslavl we finished in Moscow and did a driving tour of the Soviet architecture. I really enjoyed the six day trip and this is the type of adventure if you want something more original and authentic. We spent time visiting abandoned Churches and inside derelict homes that other guides may not take you to so you can be as creative as you like with Tony. We also visited Mosques in northern Russia which I would not have expected. I would highly recommend touring with Tony and planning a great adventure together. Read more Written December 4, 2019

  • Alan B 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Great guide in Moscow I was touch with Tony almost 12 months before going to Moscow and could not rate his service high enough. He was readily available on email or skype, and if not responded very quickly. He is flexible, knowledgeable and very customer focused. We did not finalise anything until we met in the hotel lobby in Moscow and planned our trip for the day. What we enjoyed was not only did we do the touristy things but Tony took us to places, vodka cafes, that we would not have experienced with other guides or groups. He made getting around the Metro easier and allowed us to enjoy the experience. Tony also saved us money by arranging transport to the station when we were leaving Moscow. I would highly reccommend Tony if you are wanted a great Moscow experience. Read more Written November 1, 2019

  • 533lawrences 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Off the Beaten Path with Tony We had two great trips with Tony. I wanted to see a Russian Orthodox church in a village about 200 kilometers from Moscow. Tony set up the whole trip. We were able to attend Sunday Mass, got a tour of the church and the village from the priest, and were even invited to the priest’s home for lunch with his family!!!! It was a special day. Later that week we asked Tony to take us to the Food City Farmer’s Market in suburban Moscow. It was great fun to see all the food, trucks and people from all over Russia and former USSR states. We even had brunch in the Uzbekistan Cafe there. Tony is friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about his itineraries. I highly recommend him. Read more Written July 11, 2019
  • Dmarb 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Great way to see the countryside! Our family of four (with two teens) took a private 2-day tour of Vladimir, Suzdal and Sergiev Posad with Tony and Irina. Touring with them is like visiting a local friend - they are so open and willing to share their thoughts, experiences and perspectives that it made the trip so much more interesting than with most tour guides. It was great to see the Golden Ring towns, but our absolute favorite (and where we stayed overnight) was Suzdal - so charming, we didn’t want to leave. Also recommend staying at Panorama Guest House in Suzdal where the caretaker really makes you feel at home! Day 1, Tony picked us up at the airport and drove to Vladimir, where he showed us the highlights and stopped for lunch. The drive is long, but Tony’s engaging conversation helped to pass the time while getting our first view outside Moscow. Tony was accommodating throughout the day and attentive to our needs. After lunch we continued on to Suzdal, where we spent the night. On day 2, Irina took over (as Tony had previously booked a tour for this day) seamlessly and we really enjoyed getting to know her! She could tell how much we liked Suzdal, so took us to some of her favorite places in town (including an old monastery) and tried to find a specific souvenir my daughter was looking for, asking around at different shops and stalls to locate it. We eventually had to leave Suzdal and drove to Sergiev Posad, during which we had more interesting conversations with Irina about her work, world politics, social issues, etc. After dinner, Irina took us back to our hotel in Moscow. Great experience, recommend it highly! Read more Written July 10, 2019

  • teraliya 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Real Russia for delicate Moscow girl I've been in three trips with these guys (Pereslavl-Zalessky, Staritsa / Torzhok, Ushakovskiye karyery in the Tula region) - it's rather addictive and makes you want more and more. And I was amazed, how beautiful our country is. We have so many cozy authentic towns. The folks are funny, jokes and humor will accompany you through the whole journey. You can also count on them in every unpredictable situation, problems will be solved and joyful spirit of a voyage won't be hurt. Even if you find yourself at night in the middle of nowhere, the overnight stay will be found. And in such a company it’s not scary to encounter even the harsh Russian service! I also liked that the planned sightseeing program was adjusted along the way, unexpected events naturally fitted into our day - we hung out at the reconstruction festival for half a day, spontaneously got into spacious caves in a beautiful river valley, unexpectedly found a local charismatic guide and learned a lot of interesting things about the provincial life and the difficulties of the Russian intelligentsia. • saucemaz 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles LImestone Caves Trip I am still struggling to fully explain the unique experience of exploring the disused artificial caves of the bygone limestone mining era. It was not just one of the best things I have done in Moscow, but one of my overall favourite experiences ever!! The trip is not a straightforward amble round some caves, it is a descent into another world with Tony as a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide who just bubbles over with passion for his subject. You will get some unique pictures and the experience wil stay with you. You will also hear some wild stores about the people that like to frequent the caves and as Tony said the phrase 'what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas' certainly applied deep below the surface at Domodedovo... • avandevuurst 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Great customised tour to get a in-depth understanding of Russians/Russia! End of February we were in Moscow and booked half a day with a guide, Tony. He was recommended to us and we were excited to learn more about Moscow and Russia from a local. Tony himself is well traveled, and speaks English in a clear accent, so he is easy to understand. He was punctual, the information he gave us was very detailed and up to date with current political developments. The tour was completely customised to our liking and it was the highlight of our stay in Moscow. He showed us some hidden gems that we would have not known otherwise, took us with the metro, recommended restaurants during our stay, and treated us to some local delicacies. Tony is a really great host with most importantly a great sense of humour! Because of his great personality and his broad knowledge I highly recommend booking him for a personalised tour. Tony was so accommodating throughout the entire planning process and for the duration of the trip. First class service. Tony organized a private trip for me which started in Moscow to Starista, Gorno-Altaysk, Belokuriha and Perm.
