Plantation River Tours & Airboat Tours
Plantation River Tours & Airboat Tours – Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.
Description
From Wacca Wache Marina in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Plantation River Tours offers scenic boat tours and airboat tours. Travel through old plantations along the state’s lovely Lowcountry rivers.
The South Carolina Lowcountry is home to numerous old plantation homes, rice fields, slave quarters, and other remnants of the state’s antebellum past. However, the majority were built on the water and are only accessible by boat.
Access to a forgotten time and place is provided by the waterways that encircle the Waccamaw Neck area of Murrells Inlet.
You’ll witness alligators, eagles, osprey, oak trees covered in moss, rice plantations, trunk gates, slave cottages, transit yachts on the Intercoastal Waterway, and more on your trip!
Your captain and tour guide Dale Prox is a local historian with a wealth of information about the area. He will give you details about the history, mystery, and mythology of the Rice Plantations.
You’ll have an incredible experience traveling around the Waccamaw, Black, and Pee Dee Rivers with Waccamaw Airboat Tours! In canals where no other boat could carry you, you’ll come face to face with amazing animals like alligators and osprey.
You can even choose a romantic hour-long sunset cruise along the Waccamaw River. It is both relaxing and beautiful!
Whether you choose a river tour of historic plantation homes or a backwater excursion no other tour can deliver. You’ll discover a side of the South Carolina Lowcountry that many never experience.

The Waccamaw Cooter - Airboat Tours
The airboat tour was very nice. The captain was very informative about the river, wildlife and the general area. We saw several baby alligators and of course mom was there watching over them. Lots of turtles and hermit crabs that look like large, fast bugs scurrying away as the boat went by. I would definitely recommend taking the airboat tour. The address is 1950 Wachesaw Road, Murrells Inlet, SC
My daughter and I spent ten days in Myrtle Beach this July. We did a lot of great things, but our favorite by far was the Waccamaw River Tour. It was a delight meeting Captain Rick and Kim, two wonderful people who obviously love the river and the Waterway. Captain Rick's pontoon boat is well-kept and agile. We saw many big birds and even had the pleasure to see a 14 foot alligator. Captain Rick and Kim are extremely knowledgeable, and during the tour they seemed as excited to see the wildlife as the rest of us were. My daughter and I wish we could have spent the whole day with these two great people. Do your family a favor next time you're in Myrtle Beach: Take this tour! Thanks again Rick and Kim!!
It is a joy for us to share our love of nature with our guests. We appreciate your review and look forward to seeing you again! Regards from the river.
Capt. Rick & helper ladies were very friendly & knowledgeable about the area & wildlife. Boat was safe & clean & mostly covered by a nice shaded canopy. If you like high-speed/action adventure tours this is not for you. A lovely, relaxing calm cruise. Nice for families like ours with young children. We only saw a few osprey & turtles during our cruise but still a very nice experience. Cold water avail onboard for $2 which was really nice since it was really hot the day of our cruise.
We're happy to hear you enjoyed the Waccamaw River Tour. It is a very relaxing and informative tour for young and old alike. The wildlife changes with the seasons, so next time you visit us, try a different time of year! Thank you for your review! Regards from the river!
This was the one event in my vacation where I didn't feel like I was being skinned. The fee and refreshments offered for sale were surprisingly reasonable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The boat ride itself was relaxing and entertaining. The scenery was beautiful and we saw alligators, turtles, ospreys and herons. I plan on going again on my next visit to the area.
We enjoy sharing the natural beauty of the Waccamaw River with our guests! We are pleased to hear your positive feedback. Looking forward to your next visit! Regards from the river.
We visited a few days ago and had a great time. Here are my pros and cons: Cons: - no guarantee you'll see much wildlife, although we did see a few osprey and turtles - not allowed to take your own food and there aren't really healthy options in the gift shop Pros: - they make it interesting and informative even when you're not finding tons of animals - very peaceful way to explore the rivers; no boat traffic at all and quiet - even with a completely full boat there is plenty of room to move and see everything - very friendly staff who obviously really enjoy what they do
We enjoy sharing our love of nature and the Waccamaw River with our guests. We get real excited when mother nature offers us opportunities to experience the sight of wildlife in their natural habitat, such as alligators, turtles, osprey, blue and green heron and egrets! However, it is nature, so we don't always get lucky. Thank you for your review. We're glad you had a good time. Regards from the river!
We had a great time on our tour. We saw lots of turtles, an Osprey and a juvenile osprey, a green heron and a great blue heron. Our captain gave lots of great facts about the waterway, the wildlife and other history. Great tour!!
We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the Waccamaw River Tour! We love being out on the water and showing our guests the beauty that mother nature provides in the form of birds, turtles, alligators and the cypress trees. Thank you for your review. We look forward to seeing you again! Regards from the river.

Guests Love Us!
“There is something about flying down narrow alleys of mangrove trees that is just a rush. I could never get tired of it. The guides always give more than just a ride. You learn so much about the Everglades and the total ecosystem that it is. We most certainly will be back!
—C. from Florida
“The mangrove tour was so much fun! We saw a family of dolphins swimming along the boat, several alligators, and a few fish jumping out of the water. Riding through the mangroves was beautiful and a fun way to see the Everglades. I would recommend to anyone.”
—J. from Massachusetts
“We really enjoyed seeing the alligators. The captain of the airboat gave a lot of information about the Everglades and habitat. The addition of the two-way headsets let us all communicate during the tour. This was really a highlight of having friends down visiting us new Florida residents. Plan to bring other guests."
—K. from Florida
“We did the combo package and it was amazing! Great way to experience all 3 ways to 'see' the Everglades! Would highly recommend. All the captains for each segment were fantastic! Had a great time!"
