The Real Reason Shiloh Jolie-Pitt Doesn't Hang Out With Suri Cruise

Shiloh naturally, calls superstars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt mom and dad, while Suri is the equally gorgeous spawn of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes . Neither kid has a social media presence and they're both kept mostly out of the public eye, with the exception of the odd movie premiere here and there, ensuring Shiloh and Suri are as normal and well-adjusted as humanly possible.

Suri's life, however, is slightly more complicated, with multiple reports suggesting she's not allowed to see her father due to his heavy involvement with the Church of Scientology. Sources told People the former couple was initially trying to figure out a joint-custody agreement, with Suri living in New York with Holmes and Cruise allowed visitation rights accordingly. However, an insider later revealed to Us Weekly that Cruise can't see Suri since she isn't a scientologist. Regardless, a source reassured Hollywood Life  Cruise loves his daughter and only wants what's best for her.

Despite having similar upbringings, however, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt and Suri Cruise aren't friends. But why?

Shiloh and Suri are very different people

You can't force children to be friends and especially teenagers. According to New Idea Magazine , despite several attempts, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt and Suri Cruise never got close essentially because they have "nothing in common." A source revealed, "A bunch of Angie and Katie's mutual friends suggested they have play dates when their daughters were younger. But both politely declined." Suri is super close with her mother, with the two frequently spotted out and about in New York City together. "She and Katie are more like sisters than mother and daughter," an insider explained. "She basically grew up without a dad." Suri, who's described as an old soul, has a love of fashion and is ready to start dating. 

Shiloh, meanwhile, grew up in Los Angeles but "she's still very much a child, and her mum is happy for it to stay that way for as long as it takes," according to a source. "Her parents' divorce dragging out has taken its toll. When Brad was only allowed limited visitation, it was tough on Shiloh as she was always very close with her father." Shiloh is much quieter than the rest of her siblings and is a bit of a tomboy too. As a result, it makes sense she and Suri aren't friendly. But, as one insider argued, "maybe as they get older they'll reach out to one another." After all, "they certainly would both have notes to compare about being raised in the Hollywood spotlight."

A practice in the religion called "disconnection" discourages members to associate with non-believers. In 2012, Cruise sued Life & Style and In Touch magazines for reporting that he had abandoned his daughter. But in the deposition, he admitted that Scientology was one of the reasons why his ex-wife, Katie Holmes, had filed for divorce. According to a HuffPost report, Cruise “exploded in anger" when asked if Holmes left him in part to protect Suri from Scientology. An “insider” told US Weekly that Angelina and Brad—who are in a bitter legal battle years after their divorce—are “very proud” of their daughter’s recent success as a dancer. “They’d have no issue if she wants to turn pro, but they’re not pushing it on her by any means,” the insider said.

But the most exciting would be their children's friendship. Interestingly, Jolie and Pitt's daughter Shiloh and Holmes and Cruise's daughter Suri were born just weeks apart.

In April 2006, Cruise and Holmes were overjoyed to welcome their daughter Suri . The actress reportedly had a smooth birth and was out of the hospital within 24 hours.

Suri was described as a beautiful baby with dark hair and blue eyes. The name Suri originates from Hebrew, meaning "princess," or in Persian, meaning "red rose."

Jolie and Pitt also had a joyous birth. Their daughter Shiloh was born in May 2006 in Namibia. A close source said Jolie did great and had Pitt by her side the whole time. The two also gave their daughter a special name , a historical translation from the bible, meaning "the peaceful one."

Suri and Shiloh's Contrasting Styles

From the time Suri was a child, she had a very classic style with dresses, matching cozy coats, and ballerinas. She always wore her bangs out, and her mother was not afraid to dress her in prints.

On the contrary, Shiloh grew up embracing different styles. According to a source, every day was a surprise. She was once into pirate costumes and fake tattoos , and another time she loved a clown costume so much she wanted to wear it out of the store.

Then at one point, Shiloh wanted to be called John because of her love for "Peter Pan." Pitt did not have a problem with his daughter's temporary name change. He said , "...it's just that kind of stuff that's cute to parents, and it's probably really obnoxious to other people."

During one of her interviews, Jolie also tried to explain her daughter's style. She said , "Shiloh, we feel, has Montenegro style. It's how people dress there. She likes tracksuits; she likes [regular] suits. So it's a suit with a tie, a jacket, and slacks, or a tracksuit."

The "Salt" actress added that her daughter loved to dress like a boy and even wanted to be a boy. So she cut her hair and only wore suits to look like her brothers.

Jolie and Pitt always supported their daughter's "tomboy" style . In fact, the mother of six reasoned that it was as normal as some kids being into capes, just that her daughter wanted to be called "John or Peter."

Shiloh would reportedly refuse to wear dresses, too. Instead, she wanted to be one of her made-up characters, Marcus, with horns and arrows.

Shiloh's tomboyish style continued the older she got, but she mixed it up a few times and wore dresses in public. Meanwhile, Suri still embraced her ladylike style and had one of the best designer wardrobes .

How Are Shiloh and Suri's Lives Similar?

Suri and Shiloh, now both 17, understand what it is like to have famous parents who are also divorced. Suri's parents divorced while she was still young, but there was a lot of attention on her and her parents as she grew up.

The divorce settlement between Cruise and Holmes was reportedly complicated and very detailed in protecting Suri's upbringing. Holmes was granted primary custody of her daughter, but Cruise was still given much time to spend with Suri.

The divorce was a difficult time for Holmes. The actress opened up about the intense public attention on her failed marriage and young child. Even though it was a tough time for the "First Daughter" star, she said she made many friends from people who helped her protect her daughter from the media attention.

When the taxi pulled over at her building, the taxi driver was kind and helped Holmes wake up Suri so she could get her upstairs. The actress appreciated everything the driver did that night.

As for Cruise, he reportedly does not have a relationship with his daughter because of his affinity with the Church of Scientology. The last time he was seen with Suri was shortly after Holmes served him with divorce papers.

The mother of six asked for physical custody of all their kids— Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne—and requested for Pitt to get joint custody.

Although Jolie was not asking for much in the divorce, a close source said the process was not easy as the two mostly clashed on their parenting styles. They reportedly had several disagreements on how they wanted to raise the kids.

While rumors claim that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' daughter Suri and Brad Pitt-Angelina's love child Shiloh are best friends, recent reports say that the two celebrity daughters don't even know each other.

Stories about Suri and Shiloh's supposed friendship have circulated online recently when an online publication reported how the two young girls established a bond after their respective mothers introduced them. However, according to Gossip Cop , there is no truth to the reports as the two girls are even strangers to each other.

According to the online publication, which works on debunking online gossips about celebrities, a representative of Holmes has assured Gossip Cop that there is no truth to the online report of OK! about Suri and Shiloh being friends.

To recall, OK! reported  that the celebrity daughters met two years ago through their mothers. Supposedly, Jolie reached out to Holmes last year after the falling out of her marriage with Pitt as she sought the guidance of Cruise's ex-wife on surviving her impending divorce and arranged a follow-up playdate for their kids.

According to the source of the publication, the friendship between the two even grew stronger after Suri brought with her the daughter of Holmes' rumored beau, Jamie Foxx, to play with Shiloh's younger siblings. Since then, OK! reported that the two celebrity daughters established a strong friendship despite being different in more ways than one.

It has been learned that the report on the Suri-Shiloh friendship was not the first time for OK! to, supposedly, run a false story about Holmes and Cruise's love child. According to Gossip Cop, the online publication has earlier run a story about Suri begging Holmes to allow her to make friends and play with them. Gossip Cop claims that, just like her supposed friendship with Shiloh, the earlier reports of OK! on Suri were untrue, too.

Get ready for Hollywood’s next Paris Hilton & Nicole Richie ! Angelina Jolie and Katie Holmes have been quietly encouraging the unlikely friendship between their 11-year-old daughters Shiloh Jolie-Pitt and Suri Cruise .

“Suri and Shiloh are pretty different, but they have a lot in common,” a source exclusively told OK! . “When Angie red buttoned the divorce , she reached out to Katie to arrange a follow-up ‘play date’ for the girls who met two years ago, and were still in touch via social media.”

“Suri even brought along Annalise Jamie Foxx ’s eight-year-old daughter to play with Shiloh's siblings Vivienne and Knox ,” the insider said.

“Since then, Suri and Shiloh have become pretty close,” dished the source. “Suri’s gone through her own parents’ very public split and she’s been brilliant helping Shiloh get through the change in her family.”

Shiloh and Suri are all grown up!

They are the products of two of the most high-profile marriages in modern Hollywood history. Yet, despite their similar backgrounds and being the same age, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt and Suri Cruise couldn’t be more different.

Both teens spent their childhoods with their images gracing magazines around the world – Shiloh covered People while Suri scored Vanity Fair – such was the fascination with their famous folks.

Shiloh was the first biological child of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, and was welcomed into the world just as the dust was beginning to settle over how her dad dumped America’s sweetheart, Jennifer Aniston , for Ange.

Meanwhile, Suri arrived into the world a blaze of black-haired, blue-eyed glory, the perfect mix of her dad, Tom Cruise, and mum, Katie Holmes.

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise welcomed Suri in 2006.

As we now know, the two 14-year-olds were destined to be the children of divorce – with Ange and Brad’s messy custody still in the courts, while Katie split from Tom quickly, snatching their daughter out of Scientology and earning sole custody in a secret settlement in 2012.

Despite sharing so much in common, Shiloh and Suri, we’re told, never became pals.

“A bunch of Angie and Katie’s mutual friends suggested they have play dates when their daughters were younger,” says a source. “But both politely declined. I think they knew then that Shi and Suri had nothing in common.”

Suri is the spitting image of her mum!

Suri is now a bona fide New Yorker, and is often seen out with plenty of friends, attending the ballet and accompanying her mum on trips to designer boutiques.

“She and Katie are more like sisters than mother and daughter ,” says a source. “She basically grew up without a dad. Though I’ve heard there has been some tension between them since Katie began being photographed kissing her new toyboy on every street corner.

“Suri’s quite the fashionista with a taste for expensive high heels and handbags, and has even told her mother she’s ready to start dating. She’s an old soul and wise beyond her years, so I think Katie’s going to allow her to go on dates when she’s 15.”

Shiloh was the first biological child of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

For Shiloh, who was born in Namibia and raised in the leafy Los Angeles suburb of Los Feliz, her world is poles apart.

“She’s still very much a child, and her mum is happy for it to stay that way for as long as it takes,” says a source. “Her parents’ divorce dragging out has taken its toll. When Brad was only allowed limited visitation, it was tough on Shiloh as she was always very close with her father.”

Despite growing up in a chaotic household with five siblings , Shi is “very introverted and shy compared to the rest of them.

“She used to hang on Brad’s every word,” says a source. “She still dresses just like him to this day. She is uninterested in makeup and clothes and stays out of the wardrobe sessions that her sisters have with Angelina all the time.”

A supermodel in the making? Shiloh has grown into a statuesque beauty.

It has been widely reported that Shiloh is gender-fluid, with Brad once revealing that when she was 2, she requested that the family call her John.

“Given the A-list bubble is so small, it’s amazing that Suri and Shiloh haven’t spent any time together,” says a source.

“Who knows, maybe as they get older they’ll reach out to one another – they certainly would both have notes to compare about being raised in the Hollywood spotlight.”

Angelina Jolie’s new musical, ‘The Outsiders,’ is now on Broadway! Opening night was April 11, and Angelina, who serves as producer, walked the red carpet with her daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, who took on the job as her assistant. The 15-year-old looks like a mini version of both her parents, but there is no denying she has many of her father, Brad Pitt’s features.

Vivienne is no stranger to red carpets, and she has supported her mom in the past with her siblings, but this is the first time she has gone alone, playing a role in the production. She wore a navy blue loose jumpsuit for the event with converse, while her famous mom wore a gold gown and matching brown cape.

The show is based on S.E. Hinton’s novel and Francis Ford Coppola’s 1983 crime drama. The iconic film starred young Hollywood talent like Tom Cruise, Diane Lane, Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze, Matt Dillon, Emilio Estevez, C Thomas Howell, and Ralph Macchio.

Vivienne is one of six of the Jolie-Pitt kids. The former couple, whose divorce is reportedly close to an end, also share Shiloh, 17, and Vivi’s twin brother Knox, 15. The children also adopted Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, and Zahara, 19, when they were children.

It was reported last month that Brad, who originally sought a 50/50 arrangement, is no longer seeking shared custody because they are already nearing legal adult age.
