Pink’s Summer Carnival tour of Australia and New Zealand is yet to wrap, but it’s already logged in the history books.

With just three dates left on the itinerary, Live Nation, producer of her latest epic trek Down Under, reveals nearly one million tickets have changed hands – a volume that’s by far the biggest for any female headliner to have toured ANZ.

And along the way, Pink has broken the attendance records at Sydney’s Allianz Stadium and at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium.

“Pink is one of the most amazing live performers to ever walk onto the stage,” comments Michael Coppel, chairman of Live Nation Australasia and Pink’s long-standing promoter in Australia. “I’ve been very privileged to share in her epic 20-year journey in Australia and New Zealand, where she has played more than 200 shows.”

In Australia, Pink punches in the heavyweight class in every statistical category.

When Summer Carnival is done and dusted, her total ticket sales in this territory will lift to more than 3.1 million across six tours, the largest career ticket sales ever accumulated by an international performer in ANZ, according to LN.

That career tally includes more than 658,000 tickets sold on her 2009 Funhouse tour, which spanned 58 arena shows; and her 2013 The Truth About Love trek, which played 46 arena shows and shifted more than 600,000 tickets.

According to Billboard Boxscore, Pink is the highest-grossing act of the 2010s in Oceania with about $135 million. She even has her own ladies’ toilet block at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, where she has eliminated old attendance marks.

Earlier this week , Coppel, Pink’s manager Roger Davies and staff from Sony Music Australia and Live Nation presented the Philadelphia pop superstar with a special award, a memento of her latest recording-busting efforts.

“There is a palpable mutual love affair between the Australasian audience that love seeing her perform live,” adds Coppel, “and an artist who clearly loves being here. Congratulations, Alecia, on yet another stunning record-breaking tour and on an incredible career, with even greater success surely to come.”

More Pink

P!nk is back in Australia for a record-breaking tour, playing an incredible 17 stadium shows on her Summer Carnival run. The tour is the seventh-highest-grossing tour for a woman of all time.

Last night (9 February) was the first night in her itinerary, and boy, did she (and a punter) deliver at Sydney’s Allianz Stadium.

Of course, a P!nk show isn’t a P!nk show without trapeze performance and an abundance of her rock and pop classics, but it was the intimate moments that The Music reviewer Alasdair Belling will remember from the concert.

“P!nk is changing what it means to be a pop star, and if this tour is anything to go by, she’s also changing what stadium performance looks like,” Belling declared in our review . “Perhaps most excitingly of all, P!nk’s music remains as fresh as ever; there was no sense of things feeling recycled.

“Did we mention a fan literally had  a baby during the show?! If this is mum rock, the dads sure can learn a thing or two.”

P!nk was joined by special guest Tones And I , who warmed up the crowd with her rendition of Alphaville ’s Forever Young , and her songs Dance Monkey, Johnny Run Away , and more.

Live Review: Pink “Summer Carnival Tour” – Sydney 2024

australia tour pink

Amidst a drizzly Friday evening, Sydney’s Alliance Stadium was transformed into a vibrant spectacle for Pink ‘s inaugural concert as part of her ‘Summer Carnival Tour’ in Australia.

The renowned pop icon was joined by local sensation Tones and I , along with DJ Kidcutup, setting the stage for an electrifying night of music.

As the gates swung open at 5 pm, a sea of fans, adorned in pink-colored feather boas and cowboy hats, flooded the stadium in anticipation. Tones and I took the spotlight around 7:30 pm, captivating the audience with her chart-toppers like ‘Dance Monkey’ and ‘Johnny Run Away,’ followed by DJ Kidcutup’s engaging performance.

Approaching 9 pm, screens lit up with a video montage, setting the tone for an evening of celebration. Pink burst onto the stage with her chart-topping anthem ‘Get the Party Started,’ showcasing breathtaking aerial stunts alongside her dancers. The energy soared as she continued with ‘Raise Your Glass,’ keeping the audience on their feet. The American singer then treated fans to a nostalgic journey with classics like ‘Who Knew’ and ‘Just Like a Pill,’ drawing heartfelt sing-alongs from the crowd.

Undeterred by the intensifying rain, Pink seamlessly weaved through her repertoire, including hits like ‘Try’ and ‘What About Us,’ followed by the new track ‘Turbulence’ from her latest album, ‘Trustfall.’

Taking center stage at her piano, she delivered soulful renditions of ‘Glitter in the Air’ and ‘Our Song.’ A surprising interlude occurred when Pink halted the concert to assist a woman in labor, displaying genuine concern and even naming the newborn before resuming her performance.

The show continued with a dynamic mix of ‘Just Give Me a Reason,’ ‘F**ckin Perfect,’ ‘Just Like Fire,’ and a captivating cover of ‘Heartbreaker,’ punctuated by fireworks and flames. Slowing the tempo, Pink performed ‘Please Don’t Leave Me’ and ‘Cover Me in Sunshine,’ a beautiful duet with her daughter Willow.

Hit after hit resonated through the stadium with ‘I’m Here,’ ‘Irrelevant,’ ‘Blow Me (One Last Kiss),’ and her latest release, ‘Never Gonna Not Dance Again.’ Approaching 10:30 pm, Pink left the stage, only to return for an encore, soaring above the crowd amidst heavy rain, belting out the crowd-favorite ‘So What’ with unmatched charisma.

In summary, Pink delivered a spellbinding performance to a packed stadium, showcasing her professionalism, rock spirit, signature dance moves, and infectious positivity. Her connection with the audience was palpable, creating an intimate bond through her songs and authentic, easygoing personality.

Pink ‘s ‘Summer Carnival Tour’ continues tonight with another show in Sydney, followed by performances in Newcastle, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth – A must go!

Pink reacts as fan throws mum's ashes on stage

Pop star Pink has given a major update on her Summer Carnival tour Down Under.

The American singer has revealed that Aussie ARIA winner Tones & I will join her Australian tour next February and March.

WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE: Pink reacts as fan throws mum’s ashes on stage.

But the good news didn’t stop there.

Pink, who has a massive fan base in Australia, also announced that she will be adding two extra shows, for those who missed out when the first round of tickets went on sales earlier this year.

“Hey Australia! I’m adding TWO MORE SHOWS to my 2024 #SummerCarnivalTour!” she posted to Instagram on Monday.

“And guess what else?!

“Tones and I will join me for the entire tour!

“Can’t wait to see your pretty faces soooon.”

The new dates are a fourth Melbourne concert at Marvel Stadium on March 13, and a gig in Townsville at the Queensland Country Bank Stadium on March 23.

The new Townsville concert will now mark Pink’s final appearance in Australia, after a March 19 date with Brisbane fans.

Live Nation presale tickets will be available from August 17.

Melbourne fans with a Live Nation access code can join the presale at 11am while Townsville tickets will become available for purchase from 12pm.

General tickets will go on sale the next day, August 18.

News that Tones & I was joining the tour and new dates had been added sent Aussie Pink fans wild.

“We’re coming for you 2024,” wrote comedian Rove McManus.

“Can’t wait!” gushed another.

One fan was ecstatic that a Townsville date had been added to the tour.

“This is huge for regional Queensland,” they wrote.

“Pink, you truly do love your fans and we love you back.”

Tones & I shared the tour news to her own Instagram fans.

“I am finally, after over 2, years touring my home country again ...with P!NK,” her posted read.

“LET’S GO!!!! NEW DATES ADDED!!”

One of the first fan “likes” to be posted was from the official Matildas account.

“GET THIS PARTY STARTED!” wrote one fan.

“How bloody good,” added another.

Pink Concert Tickets

Pink's sensational 2024 au tour: a record-breaking adventure.

Pink Sets New Milestones with Her Upcoming Australian Tour! In what is shaping into an extraordinary musical journey, Pink is set to redefine concert experiences in Australia and New Zealand in 2024. The pop icon’s tour dubbed the ‘Summer Carnival,’ promises to be a spectacle of epic proportions, spanning 16 shows across Australia. This tour marks Pink’s triumphant return to the region and includes a groundbreaking first: her debut stadium concert in North Queensland.

A Historic Concert in the Heart of Queensland

Pink’s visit will reach its crescendo with a historic show at the Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville on March 23. This venue, usually echoing with the cheers of rugby league fans, will transform into a concert hall for a night of unforgettable musical extravagance. This announcement was part of a more significant revelation at a press conference attended by government dignitaries, underlining the significance of this event. As stated at the conference, “Queensland is the only state where Pink plays three separate cities, and this is the only regional stop.”

Shattering Records and Expectations

Pink’s relationship with Australia is nothing short of phenomenal. Her 16 stadium concerts this tour are just one facet of her record-breaking streak, which includes surpassing 725,000 ticket sales, a feat she’s already well beyond. Roger Field, President of Live Nation Australia, noted the immense popularity of Pink’s shows, which “sold out in minutes across the country.” The extension of her tour to North Queensland is a testament to her unparalleled demand in the region.

An ‘Honorary Aussie’ Returns

Pink’s bond with Australia runs deep, earning her the affectionate moniker of an “honorary Aussie.” Her previous tours have left indelible marks on the Australian music scene. The 2009 Funhouse Tour stands out as a monumental achievement. Pink performed an astounding 59 shows over three months, selling 650,000 tickets – a remarkable feat considering Australia’s population was less than 25 million then.

In Conclusion

Pink’s 2024 Summer Carnival Tour is more than just a series of concerts; it celebrates her enduring relationship with Australian fans. With record-breaking sales and a lineup of shows in some of the country’s most iconic venues, Pink’s tour is poised to be an unforgettable musical odyssey, solidifying her beloved figure in the Australian entertainment landscape.

Did tours like Taylor Swift and Pink spell the end for Splendour in the Grass?

A group of friends standing in a muddy festival

Just a day after Splendour in the Grass was cancelled, Byron Bay's five-day Bluesfest has begun.

And while staging a festival after many others in recent months have been mothballed, Bluesfest direct Peter Noble said attendance numbers were still well below pre-COVID levels.

He said he believed international music tours were impacting the local festival industry.

"The whole music industry has become skewed on the Taylor Swifts, Pinks and Ed Sheerans and the money they are generating.

"It is skewing everything to make it look like it's OK."

The annual Splendour in the Grass festival  pulled the plug on its 2024 edition on Wednesday, two weeks after the official line-up was announced; the headline act was Kylie Minogue.

Mr Noble said the cancellation was a "tragedy" and called on the government to support the Australian industry.

Taylor Swift's five performances across Melbourne and Sydney earlier this year are expected to have generated more than  $135 million in economy activity .

"We don't want to find that this whole industry is run by multinationals and there's no room for Aussie events," Mr Noble said.

Splendour in the Grass was scheduled for July 19 to 21 at Ngarindjin/North Byron Parklands.

The venue was also home to the Falls Festival, which has also been cancelled.

Muddy punters arriving at the gates at Splendour In The Grass

Like numerous music events nationwide, Splendour has faced challenges in recent times.

It was marred by flooding in 2022 which saw organisers cancel its opening day, while last year's festival failed to sell out.

Bluesfest has also faced its fair share of problems, infamously being forced to shut down a day before the event in 2021 due to a COVID-19 scare.

Can only Gen X and Baby Boomers afford music festivals?

Mr Noble said the continued success of Bluesfest was in part due to the older crowd it attracted.

"We are an older demographic and people under 30 statistically have less money than anybody else in our community.

"Most Australian contemporary music events are aimed at those audiences that have the least amount of money."

He said 80,000 people were expected to attend Bluesfest this year, although attendance remained 20 per cent lower than pre-COVID numbers.

According to a study commissioned by the organisers, the event brings more than $200 million into New South Wales and employed 2,100 workers this weekend in addition to 700 performers.

Businesses 'shocked' at Splendour axing

Byron Bay Chamber of Commerce president Matt Williamson acknowledged young people were "thinking twice about spending".

"It wasn't a cheap festival and might not be a luxury everyone can afford," he said.

However with a strong headline act locked in, Mr Williamson thought the festival season looked promising.

"Kylie Minogue was going to be a great drawcard to get the punters back."

Splendour in the Grass gave Byron Bay businesses a much-needed boost during the quieter winter period, he said.

"There's a whole group of people that make a trip up and they stay in town and go into the restaurants, and go to the bar, and they enjoy the whole offer of what Byron's got."

“Have you ever been at a party with a bunch of salty old people that never realised their dreams? Where the liquor ran dry ages ago, there’s no music-no one’s dancing-you would’ve had more fun at home with your blind cat? That’s twitter these days-or whatever it’s called now. Byeeeeeeeeeee,” Pink shared.

Just one minute later, she posted – and quickly deleted – a follow-up note: “This account will self-destruct in two minutes. Do it!!!!”

Pink has since deleted this tweet. Picture: X

The So What singer joined the social media site in April 2009 and has amassed a whopping 30 million followers since then.

Pink is yet to actually delete her account, but the news of her impending departure sent fans into a tailspin.

“Be you, stop giving in, you have [thousands] of fans here that love and support you,” one urged her, while another wrote: “Don’t break my achy breaky heaaarrttt!”
