Not what you're looking for?

People that have booked this tour have also searched for the following:

Day 1 : Split (Croatia)

Location: split, accommodation: hotel, accommodation name: jupiter (or similar), meals included: dinner.

Our incredible journey will begin in Split, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed city beside the azure Adriatic. Tonight, we’ll get to know one another better over a delicious welcome dinner.

Day 2 : Split – Trogir

Location: split, trogir, accommodation name: pasike (or similar), meals included: breakfast.

Today’s history-filled agenda begins with a walking tour of Split – where a local guide will take us into the white walls of Diocletian’s Palace, a vast fortress filled with centuries of history. We’ll also pay a visit to the Grgur Ninski Statue and the Cathedral of St Domnius, before moving on to medieval Trogir. Here, we’ll be taken around the maze of marble streets and Romanesque buildings by a local guide – before going our separate ways to explore this tiny island town and indulge in some delicious local cuisine.

Day 3 : Trogir – Krka National Park – Trogir

Location: trogir, krka national park, trogir.

This morning will see us seeking the crystalline lakes and energetic waterfalls of Krka National Park. We’ll be shown around this mesmerising park by a local guide, before moving on to a local winery. At this quaint establishment we’ll learn the history of winemaking in the region – while being treated to a tasting of selected wines. After that, we’ll round off the day with some free time to relax back in Trogir.

Day 4 : Trogir – Korcula

Location: trogir, korčula, accommodation name: marko polo (or similar), meals included: breakfast, dinner.

Today we'll say goodbye to Trogir and move on to Split, where we'll catch the ferry to Korcula – an island that's reputed to be the birthplace of Marco Polo. After checking into the hotel, our Tour Leader will take us on a stroll through the Old Town, before we enjoy some free time to delve deeper into the hidden treasures of this medieval island. Then: time to hone those culinary skills! We’ll uncover the distinct and unique flavours of Croatian cuisine with an included cookery class – and indulge in our creations for dinner this evening.

Day 5 : Korcula

Location: korčula.

Today you’re free to explore Korcula as you wish. Lounge at a nearby beach or find a café and get better acquainted with the local cuisine. If you’re in the mood for exploration, you can even hop aboard a taxi boat to the tiny island of Vrnik.

Day 6 : Korcula – Pelješac Peninsula – Kotor (Montenegro)

Location: korčula, pelješac, kotor, accommodation name: vardar (or similar).

After bidding farewell to Korcula, we’ll set sail to the nearby Pelješac Peninsula – a hotspot for winemaking since the days of the Roman Empire. Savour the fruits of this ancient tradition with a visit to a local winery before we leave Croatia for Montenegro. Kotor Bay is a soul-stirring sight – and at the centre lies UNESCO World Heritage-listed Kotor town, seemingly untouched by time. Enjoy some free time to explore the picturesque Old Town at your leisure, before reconvening tonight for sumptuous group dinner.

Day 7 : Kotor

Location: kotor.

First today: a guided walking tour of Kotor. Old Kotor was built like a maze for protective purposes – and it’s very easy to get lost here without some local expertise! Following that, we’ll take to the water. A boat will carry us to Our Lady of the Rocks: a small church on a manmade island. After hearing the fascinating legend behind the church, we’ll return to Kotor – where you’ll be free to spend the rest of the afternoon as you please.

Day 8 : Kotor – Lovcen National Park – Dubrovnik (Croatia)

Location: kotor, lovcen national park, dubrovnik, accommodation name: more (or similar).

Today it’s back on the road (taking the scenic route, of course) as we make our way to the picturesque Lovcen National Park. A local guide will show us around as we soak up the incredible views across Montenegro. Then, we’ll pay a visit to the charming village of Njeguai – where we’ll have time to enjoy lunch at our leisure. Moving onto Dubrovnik – the evening will be yours to hunt down more local fare, explore the city’s cobbled streets or simply put your feet up and relax at the hotel.

Day 9 : Dubrovnik

Location: dubrovnik.

Today’s guided tour of Dubrovnik will see us strolling through the Old Town, where we’ll see the likes of the Franciscan Monastery, Sponza Palace, the Cathedral of Our Lady and the Old Port. If the weather is on our side, we’ll take the opportunity to climb the spectacular Mt Srd on a cable car ride. Tonight, we’ll come together for one last included dinner – and clink glasses to what an incredible nine days it has been.

Day 10 : Dubrovnik – Trsteno – Dubrovnik

Location: dubrovnik, trsteno, dubrovnik, meals included: breakfast, lunch.

Before our journey comes to an end, there’s still plenty of time to round things off with a visit to the beautiful Trsteno Arboretum. After tucking into a delicious lunch at a local oyster farm, we’ll return to Dubrovnik – where we’ll say our goodbyes.

Guides highly trained and totally focused on making each person’s experience safe, fun and memorable. They seek out the best opportunities to play hard and rest well. Hands down the best tour company I have experienced.

I had a wonderful experience...

I had a wonderful experience touring Italy, this July 2023, with Backroads. Our tour leader was exceptional in her knowledge of all things around us. Our driver did an amazing job under VERY difficult circumstances. Bravo Luciano. The accommodations were fantastic. The provided meals were delicious.(not to mention the wine tasting🍷 or the ‘two a day’ gelato rule🍦, so we won’t)😁 The scenery as we passed through was astounding, particularly Tuscany and then up into the northern mountains. Breathtaking. Thoroughly enjoyable. Roger.

First Experience?

This was our first experience with Backroads and it was wonderful!! Your staff at the office and your group leaders are wonderful—you made it so easy to organize and plan all we needed. Truly a 5 star experience!

We have just come off...

We have just come off a Back Roads Highlights of Britain Tour 2023! Our tour guide and bus driver were amazing! Shabby our guide absolutely created magic for the whole bus! Magnificent itinerary, incredible commentary from young Shabby with music included to pay homage to the districts we were in! 🎶genius! Talk about an experience of a lifetime! A small group means going to the places the big buses can’t and time to get to know your fellow adventurers! Loved this tour and Back Roads if you’re reading this you have struck gold with your guide Shabby! Highly recommended 👍

Commitment to travellers is brilliant!

The Backroads commitment to a personal level of service is apparent and so very appreciated. The genuine interest and execution of so many detailed extras made a significant difference in the experience. Backroads is truly a Small Giant.

Backroads Croatia

Bay of Ston, Croatia

As if Croatia isn’t interesting enough already for your next trip, why not do it on two wheels? Lighthouse proudly presents you the Backroads Croatia – one of the most popular biking routes of southern Dalmatia.

First, our journey will start in the city of Split, where after a brief downtime period you will have a chance of exploring the nearby islands of Brač and  Hvar . Follow the back roads of small, picturesque villages on our way to some local wineries and hidden beauties of the region.

Also, among our stops, there will be three protected UNESCO world heritage sites – in Split, on Hvar island and in Dubrovnik. Picking our favorite part of this trip should be left to you as we love every single bit of it and it is hard for us to decide.

Finally, each day we will be cycling somewhere between 20 and 40 miles, depending on the group and our preferences. Logistical van support is always here in case you’re missing a snack or you just want to hop in the van and get some rest for the next part of the route. Pack your biking shorts and get yourself ready for the Backroads Croatia tour. Welcome.
