The Solidarity Route through historic Gdańsk, Poland

The Ocean Odyssey arrives to Gdańsk this morning. Gdańsk was a powerful member of the Hanseatic League, the maritime organization that controlled much of medieval trade in the area. Today, the legacy of its prosperity has been lovingly restored. On a morning tour, set out to explore this great maritime city whose great shipyards served as the incubator for the legendary Solidarity movement of 1980, the first crack in what would ultimately be the crumbling of the entire Soviet Union. You’ll follow the Solidarity Route through this historic seaport, including the charming Old Town and massive St. Mary’s Church, one of the largest brick churches in the world. A visit to the European Solidarity Centre reveals the Solidarity story in impressive detail; you will follow an English-language audio tour through the captivating exhibits.

Return to the ship for lunch, then utilize the shuttle service from the ship back to Gdańsk's Old Town. Stroll down Long Street, also known as the Royal Route for the kingly processions it once hosted, to witness reconstructions of its beautiful 17th-century buildings.

Learn about the liberation of Poland during a captivating lecture, then enjoy another gourmet dinner and a port talk about your next remarkable city.

Vantage Exclusive:

  • Follow the Solidarity Route of Gdańsk including Old Town, St Mary’s Church, and the European Solidarity Center
  • Lecture on the liberation of Poland
  • Arrive in Gdańsk and admire all the vivid splashes of color of this popular Polish coastal city

The Hanseatic gem of Visby, Sweden

Enjoy breakfast this morning as the ship arrives in Visby. This charming seaside treasure is located on the large Swedish island of Gotland. Enjoy a "Hidden Visby" walking tour, including introductions to Almedalen, Powder Tower, Fish Alley, and Visby Cathedral. Plus, visit the Gotland Museum, which has keys to some of the most thrilling (and locked) historical buildings and ruins in Visby. Join our knowledgeable guides who will unlock the doors to exciting worlds where time has stood still. Then return to the ship for lunch.

Leisure time in the afternoon allows you more time to return to favorite spots on your own; perhaps you will duck into the cathedral to admire its lovely stained glass and ornate altarpiece. • When sailing towards your next adventure, once again enjoy the stunning views of this eclectic city

Medieval splendors in Tallinn

Tallinn, one of the Hanseatic League’s trading centers, has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its remarkable preservation. After breakfast, attend a lecture that will offer some insight into your explorations of Tallinn today.

After an early lunch on board, embark on a panoramic tour of the city. The two-level Tallinn has an enchantment all its own, which you’ll discover from the winding streets of the Lower Town to the fortified Upper Town on Toompea Hill, where you can take in the amazing view from the Patkuli viewing platform. You’ll also see the Dome Church and the Opera House before heading to the Song Festival Grounds to see the spot where locals raised their singing voices in protest to eject the Soviets in a “Singing Revolution.”

Tallinn boasts a thriving high-tech economy, too, which has earned it a reputation as Europe’s Silicon Valley. The young, entrepreneurial population supports a lively cultural and dining scene.

Glittering St. Petersburg and Peterhof

Enjoy breakfast this morning as the ship arrives to St. Petersburg. Peter the Great broke ground for his gilded capital city in 1703, intending to emulate and surpass the best of Western Europe. He came close to succeeding, because no matter how often you’ve been, you simply cannot get enough of this magnificent city.

Today’s full day of exploring takes you first on a panoramic tour to see the palaces, canals, and churches in the heart of the city. Then, following lunch in a local restaurant, you'll travel to Peterhof, the spectacular “Russian Versailles” that Peter designed and built on the shores of the Gulf of Finland. The gardens and Grand Cascade of fountains are a marvel in themselves.

After tonight's sumptuous dinner on the ship, Russian entertainers join you on board for a lively performance that showcases a rich and colorful tradition of music and dance. You'll overnight in St. Petersburg, hearing about tomorrow’s discoveries during a port talk.

The magnificent art of the Hermitage

This morning, enjoy an early “pre-rush” visit to what is widely considered the world’s most comprehensive collection of Western European art. The amazing Hermitage Museum was started by Catherine the Great, expanded under subsequent tsars, then grew exponentially as the Soviets seized scores of private collections. You’ll arrive early so you can immerse yourself in the masterpieces in a more relaxed setting. Admire the cream of the collection as you wind through the spectacular exhibition halls of the gilded Winter Palace.

After a lunch of local specialties at a nearby restaurant, tour the magnificent St. Isaac’s Cathedral. Completed in 1858 as a Russian Orthodox church, today the cathedral operates as a fascinating museum.

The ship departs for Helsinki later this afternoon. Enjoy another lecture in the lounge; Then, a port talk will fill you in on all that awaits in Finland.

  • Visit the Hermitage Museum
  • Bid farewell to St. Petersburg, taking in breathtaking views of the city’s iconic style

Helsinki’s grand squares and sacred Cathedral

This morning the ship arrives to Helsinki as you're enjoying a breakfast that will power you up for walking and panoramic tours of the city today. Whether you’re viewing Helsinki’s 1852 cathedral, crossing one of its many parks or squares, or seeing yourself reflected in the glass of a brand-new building, you'll find that there’s an appealing orderliness and grace to this northern capital. Your panoramic city tour includes the bustling waterside Market Square (known locally as the Kauppatori) and Old Market Hall.

As you admire the stately government buildings of Senate Square, the impressive green domes of the Helsinki Cathedral watch over your progress. This neoclassical wonder — completed in 1852 as a tribute to Czar Nicholas I of Russia, the Grand Duke of Finland at the time — crowns the cityscape like a jewel. Today, it is the worship house for the city’s Evangelical Lutherans. Its high perch and its rooftop statues of the Twelve Apostles remind the devout of Helsinki that their god is ever-present.

You'll also pass the Sibelius Monument, sculpted in tribute to the famed Finnish composer, and the remarkable Temppeliaukio Church, built into solid rock. Return for lunch on board; later, the ship sets off for Stockholm.

  • Helsinki city tour
  • Behold the magnificent views of Helsinki’s Scandinavian style and venture toward your next destination

Disembark the Ocean Odyssey and take a panoramic city tour of Stockholm, with the Vasa Museum

Arrive this morning in Stockholm, Sweden’s sophisticated capital, and say goodbye to the ship after breakfast. We hope you enjoyed your time on the Ocean Odyssey, Vantage's second small ship ocean cruising vessel!

Get acquainted with Stockholm's irresistible charms and remarkable history, spread across 14 islands knit together by some 57 bridges . On your cultural tour of this “Venice of the North,” you’ll walk through the narrow streets of the delightful Gamla Stan, or Old Town, and enjoy views of Stockholm City Hall and the city’s equally attractive newer sections. On an included tour, visit the Vasa Museum, where you’ll see the amazing “ghost ship” of the same name — the world’s only fully intact 17th-century warship. The massive vessel sank just offshore on its maiden voyage in 1628. It lay preserved in the mud for three centuries, before being recovered and displayed in its full glory.

Later, check into your Stockholm hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Lunch and dinner are both on your own.

Baltic Sea Luxury Cruises

Stockholm. copenhagen. helsinki. tallinn … these fab five trip off the tongue like a who’s who of baltic beauty..

Think cobbled streets filled with jumbles of bicycles, ornate palaces that date back centuries and untamed beauty as far as the eye can see. Think long white nights that spill into languid summer days. Think melting pot: equal parts language, gastronomy, tradition and diversity. But more than anything, think of a region where the countries may be close but the cultures a miles apart. Whether you want cathedrals or countryside, our Baltic sea cruises will captivate you.

DESTINATION HIGHLIGHTS

Copenhagen

Why Silversea?

Intimate Ships

Intimate Ships

We proudly sail against the tide. While other companies are building bigger and bigger cruise ships, we keep our ships small. Why? So that when you travel on your luxury Baltic sea cruise, you can reach the tiny, off-the-beaten-track ports that larger ships cannot reach. So that when you are on board, you can mingle with like-minded guests and so that new faces become old friends. So that when you travel with us, you feel part of our family. That’s why.

Luxury Oceanview Suites

Luxury Oceanview Suites

A Baltic sea luxury cruise is a chance to indulge yourself. And our ocean view suites do just that! A spacious veranda for al fresco dining, a huge interactive media library, different mattress and pillow options, choice of bath products … the list goes on and on (it’s a very long list!). From the urban hub of Copenhagen to the pretty port of Tallinn, wake up to splendid ocean view, ready for your next day’s adventure.

Personalised Service

Personalised Service

Every Silversea suite comes with a personal butler to make your Baltic sea cruise with us effortless. To serve you an alfresco dinner on your private veranda as you gaze at Tallinn’s receding shores. To ensure that your suite is immaculate, to pack (and unpack) your luggage

All-Inclusive Cruises

All-Inclusive Cruises

Our intimate ships offer the best onboard experience there is, with nothing to add at the end of the journey. Yes, that’s right, no gratuities, no drinks bill, no transportation into town costs, no gym class extras … coupled with our perfect personal service, there is literally no better way to sail.

Gourmet Cuisine

Gourmet Cuisine

Every country has its own cuisine and what better way to experience the diversity of a region often overlook in gastronomy terms than to taste it! In a region that is so incredibly eclectic, a Baltic sea cruise is the perfect opportunity for you to discover the soft cheeses flavoured with caraway seeds of Estonia, the locally brewed beers of Denmark. Wash it all down with a glass of vodka and your immersion into the culture is complete.

Discover Old European Charm on a Baltic Sea Cruise

If you’ve ever wanted to step inside a Medieval fairytale, a Baltic Sea cruise most certainly delivers. Experience the Middle Ages as you explore Tallinn’s UNESCO-protected Old Town. Marvel at Denmark’s magical castles, and amble along the cobblestone streets and radiant, historic buildings of Gamla Stan in Stockholm. Explore religious sites and the all-encompassing history of Berlin. Spend the afternoon in one of Helsinki’s fascinating museums, then take a dip in the deep blue Baltic Sea.

Embark on an unforgettable cruise vacation aboard Celebrity Apex or Celebrity Silhouette, where you’ll find stylish accommodations, luxurious amenities, and globally inspired cuisine. Discover the beguiling countries that surround the Baltic Sea with Celebrity Cruises, voted “Best Cruise Line in Europe” for nine consecutive years at Travel Weekly’s 16th Annual Readers’ Choice Awards.

Baltic Sea Cruise Highlights

Castles & palaces.

The countries along the Baltic Sea are brimming with historic castles and palaces. Go on a whirlwind tour of the famous castles of North Zealand outside of Copenhagen to see the royals’ part-time residence and the setting for Hamlet . Admire the stately Stockholm Palace where the King of Sweden resides. Explore the majestic Catherine Palace, the former summer retreat of Russian tsars. Revel in the romance and splendor of these opulent landmarks.

Outdoor Escapes

Kayak the Finnish archipelago surrounding Helsinki, or explore the scenic countryside of Porvoo. In Stockholm, venture beyond the city to the Långholmen Kajak, a Venice-like system of canals where you can enjoy a Swedish gondola ride. Venture to the Malusi islands off the coast of Estonia to spot seals in their natural habitat.

Urban Exploration

The extraordinary cities you’ll visit on a Baltic Sea cruise are brimming with culture, history, and excitement at every turn. Admire the quintessential rust-colored roofs of Tallinn. Stroll alongside the vibrant facades of Gamla Stan’s storied structures in Stockholm. Do as the locals do and bike through Copenhagen’s streets, admiring the sleek Scandinavian design juxtaposed with hundreds of years of history at every turn.

Featured Ports

Copenhagen, denmark.

A stop in Copenhagen makes for a fabulous day in port while on a cruise to Scandinavia and to Northern Europe’s capitals. Spend the day admiring the city’s opulent castles and stroll along the colorful waterfront district of Nyhavn. Don’t forget to try a Danish brew and sample local eats at a food hall while you’re here.

Tallinn, Estonia

Tallinn is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in northern Europe. The city’s Old Town is filled with medieval houses and cobblestone alleyways still protected by the remnants of the city wall. Aside from Tallin’s charming city, you can venture to the countryside to sip vodka amongst the ruins of Rakvere Castle, or sample cheese at a local dairy farm.

Stockholm, Sweden

Discover Stockholm, the trend-setting capital of Sweden known as “Beauty on the Water”. Get a glimpse of a time before industrialization at Skansen, an open-air museum and zoo that showcases Sweden’s traditional way of life and exotic wildlife. Spend an afternoon at the Nationalmuseum or the Vasa Museum for a crash course in Viking history and Swedish art. No trip to the city is complete without spending a few hours in Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s Old Town.

Baltic Sea Cruise Itineraries

On a cruise to the Baltic Sea, you’ll sail on award-winning ships like Celebrity Apex or Celebrity Silhouette. Itineraries range from 11 to 13 nights and depart from Rotterdam or Amsterdam, Netherlands and Southampton, England (which is conveniently close to London) from May to August.

Itineraries

Europe is closer than ever with flights by celebrity.

Not only do we offer the best way to explore Europe, but we also make it easy to get there with Flights by Celebrity℠. Relax knowing you’re booking the lowest airfare and have a dedicated team helping you get to your ship—and back.

Why Sail on a Baltic Sea Cruise with Celebrity

Experience some of Europe’s most riveting cities while sailing in complete luxury on one of our cruise ships. Lounge at the Lawn Club and watch the Baltic Sea glitter as day turns to dusk. Sample local beer in Estonia, then try a new cocktail at one of our innovative bars. After a long, unforgettable day spent exploring Stockholm or Helsinki, you’ll be welcomed back to the ship, where exquisite cuisine, an award-winning wine list, and luxurious staterooms and suites await.

PUT IT IN PARK

A Moorish Palace in Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, Denmark

Pump up the adrenaline at Tivoli Gardens, one of the world’s oldest amusement parks. Go upside down on the 62 mph Vertigo, or feel the thrill of riding the famous wooden roller coaster that marked its 100th birthday in 2014. Arcade games, pantomime shows and live music only add to the park’s appeal.

Little Mermaid statue sitting on a rock on the harborfront in the northern Kastellet area in Copenhagen, Denmark

Inspired by the famous Hans Christian Andersen fairytale, The Little Mermaid sculpture remains one of the most visited landmarks in all of Copenhagen. Find her sitting on a rock in the harbor, in all her bronze and granite glory, looking forlorn in search of her prince on land.

The National Museum of Denmark in Copenhagen

NATIONAL TREASURES

Housed in the old Prince’s Palace, the National Museum’s galleries span the Great Hall and former sleeping quarters of Danish royalty. Here you can admire furniture from the early 18th century, as well as impressive collections of classical and eastern antiquities, handicrafts, coins, medals and children’s toys.

Danish smørrebrød sandwich with salmon fish and egg on wooden board, in Copenhagen, Denmark

Local Cuisine

Copenhagen has the most Michelin-starred restaurants of any Scandinavian city. Noma is consistently named “Best Restaurant in the World” for its New Nordic cuisine. But if you’re hungry for a quick lunch, try a herring smørrebrød sandwich and a dozen Limfjord oysters. Savor Danish cheese, coffee and pastries at Torvehallerne market— or sip on an ice-cold pint of Carlsberg pilsner.

Denmark Copenhagen Mini Hot Air Balloons

Hit the famous shopping strip of Strøget, one of the longest pedestrian-friendly streets in Europe, for international brands and kitschy collectibles. Copenhagen is perhaps best-known for its Danish-designed glass and ceramic home goods. Many vendors sell secondhand porcelain and silver pieces in street markets, but be prepared to bargain.
