Day 1 : Okavango Delta, Botswana

You are met upon arrival at the Maun Airport and then transferred to your safari camp in the Okavango Delta region. Spend the rest of the day enjoying the many activities — including game viewing by motor boat or mokoro (dugout canoe) where you can watch the elephants bathing and mammoth hippos emerging from the water.  

Day 2 : Okavango Delta, Botswana

The Okavango Delta consists of a multitude of main channels, smaller tributaries and lagoons, as well as floodplains, islands and mainland areas. The permanent swamp includes groves of wild date palm, swathes of papyrus, islands fringed with forest, and lagoons covered with floating water lilies. The expert Eagle Island Camp guides help you explore the flora and fauna of the delta by foot along the walking trails, by boat on the canals, and by air safari. A spectacular and scenic game-viewing helicopter journey is included in your camp stay.

Day 3 : Moremi Wildlife Reserve, Botswana

This morning, board a shared light aircraft for a flight to the eastern region of the Okavango Delta, the Moremi Wildlife Reserve — a designated 1160 sq. mile protected wildlife area. The reserve is a network of rich waterways that surround two large landmasses, containing a diverse ecosystem of woodlands, wetlands, floodplains, and dry savannah. Your lodge camp is adjacent to the reserve, the Khwai River, and nestled on the edge of a leadwood and fig tree forest. Known for its large concentration of mammals, your camp puts you in the perfect place to view elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, cheetahs and wild dogs. Take an afternoon safari drive in an open-air Land Cruiser, then perhaps an after-dark game drive to spot some of the nocturnal animals.

Day 4 : Moremi Wildlife Reserve, Botswana

The day is yours to relax and explore this wonderful region of Botswana. Game drives are available in the morning, afternoon and evening, and there are guided walking safaris that stroll along the Khwai River. You may also want to visit a local village to learn about the native culture and traditions. Tonight enjoy a stargazing presentation.

Day 5 : Chobe National Park, Botswana

Today, take a short flight north to Chobe National Park. Stay in the Savute Channel, the heart of the park and a diverse habitat and haven for wildlife. The highlight of this area is Chobe’s animal migrations. Exhibiting the ancient patterns of time, the animals move following the available food and water in the district. At the Savute Elephant Camp’s watering hole, you can see massive herds of elephant and buffalo and the prides of lion that hunt them, as well as many other predators such as the endangered wild dog, leopard, cheetah and hyena. Your luxurious tented accommodation is built on a raised teak deck and includes an en-suite bathroom and a wonderful view of the waterhole.

Day 6 : Chobe National Park, Botswana

Enjoy another day to explore this amazing area full of animals and colorful birds. Often called the “elephant capital of the world,” Savute Elephant Camp offers excellent wildlife viewpoints. Stand along the dry Savute Channel to witness herds of elephants in their natural habitat. Game drives in open Land Rovers depart the lodge each morning and afternoon, giving you yet another way to explore this wildlife rich region. You can also take an excursion to view the historic rock paintings hidden in the hills by early Bushmen. Tonight you may choose to dine in the open-air “boma” for an evening of traditional foods and spectacular vistas of the African night sky.

Day 7 : Chobe National Park, Botswana

Enjoy your last hours in Chobe National Park, perhaps taking a final morning game drive, before boarding your small aircraft flight from Savute back to the Maun Airport. From there board your flight home or to your next destination.

Botswana, officially known as the Republic of Botswana is situated in the southern part of Africa, just above South Africa. Botswana protects some of Africa’s largest areas of wilderness. Almost 70 percent of the flatland is covered by the Kalahari Desert, and is sparsely populated. Botswana is famous for its game reserves; areas like Chobe National Park, Central Kalahari Game Reserve and Okavango Delta have very high concentration of wildlife. Okavanga delta region during rainy season is a maze of waterways, islands, and lakes.

REACHING Botswana

Botswana's main airport is Sir Seretse Khama in Gaborone. Most flights into Botswana arrive from Johannesburg, South Africa. Flights from Cape Town, Harare and Nairobi are also available. Maun also has limited number of flights from Cape Town and Windhoek. Maun is pretty much a tourist attraction because of its proximity to many national parks.

One of the Seven Natural Wonders of the world, Okavango Delta is a huge inland delta formed when the Okavango River reaches a tectonic trough in the Kalahari. It is an oasis in the middle of the Kalahari Desert. Also a World Heritage Site, it is a vast area of virtually untouched freshwater wetland. The delta supports an abundance of wildlife within a setting of dazzling natural beauty. Odd climatic conditions and lush environment makes the Okavango delta a fantastic safari destination.

The delta is accessible from Maun. You can take a flight from Gaborone to reach Maun or travel by road, Maun is about 900 kms from Gaborone. Most travelers start from Maun in their own vehicle. One can also hire a safari jeep to enter the park or go on a tour with one of the flying-safari operators.

The delta covers an area of almost 16,000 sq km

The delta is brimming with wildlife. Almost every possible animal native to the African continent is found in the delta. That includes African Bush Elephant, African Buffalo, Hippo, Lechwe, Wilderbeests, Giraffe, Nile crocodile, Lions, Cheetah, Leopards, Hyenas, Rhinos, Zebra, Warthogs, and many more. The delta also has over 400 species of birds. The majority of large mammals in and around the delta are not year-round residents. They leave with the summer rains to find renewed fields of grass to graze on and trees to browse, and then make their way back as winter approaches.

Chobe National park

Chobe National Park is located at the north-western part of Botswana, with Chobe River forming the park’s northern border. The park has a varied landscape with floodplains, swamps and woodland. The most accessible and frequently visited of Botswana’s national parks, Chobe riverfront is famous for its large herds of African Elephants and Cape buffalo. They converge upon the river during the dry season. Another unique feature of the park is the river cruise, the best way to experience wildlife up close.

The park can be accessed from the northern side by Kasane, the entrance gate lies immediately west of Kasane. It can be accessed by conventional vehicles. One can catch a flight to get to Kasane from Gaborone. Another entry point is in the south from Maun. You can take a flight from Gaborone to reach Maun or travel by road, Maun is about 900 kms from Gaborone. But due to mud and flooding you will need a high-clearance vehicle to enter the park.

Chobe has the highest concentration of African Elephants of any park in Africa. They can be seen in a group of hundreds close to the river in the dry season. Lions, Leopards and Buffalo can also be seen in the park, and very rarely a Rhino. You can get up and close to Hippo, Crocodile and a mind-boggling array of water birds.

Central Kalahari Game Reserve

Central Kalahari Game Reserve is the second largest game reserve in the world covering an extensive area of 52,800 square kilometer, most of which is quite remote and inaccessible. Not many visitors visit this huge reserve; it gives you an impression of unending space, like having the whole reserve to yourself. The Bushmen, or San, have inhabited the lands for thousands of years since they roamed the area as nomadic hunters. But since the 1990s the government has tried to relocate the Bushmen from the reserve. The reserve makes up to be one of the best places for wildlife viewing.

Visitors to the Central Kalahari can enter the reserve through three main points of entry, namely Khutse in the south, Xade in the west and Matswere in the northeast. The majority of the game animals are found in the northern regions of the reserve making the Matswere entrance the most popular entrance. The closest airport it Maun airport, from Maun visitors can drive to the various access points. From Maun visitors can also arrange a chartered flight into the Central Kalahari. The flight from Maun to Deception Valley takes 45 minutes.

We had a wonderful time! Rocky, Jimmy, and Simba were excellent as drivers, guides, cooks, and problem solvers. We ate very well indeed. I will comment that the tour we took was quite different from the stated description of it. For example, we did not go to the salt pan. It seems that Rocky, the boss of the crew, received a different itinerary than what we thought we would be doing. How did that happen? The places we did go were terrific, and it was not until the second last day of the trip, that we realised the discrepancy. Rocky offered us a way to go to the salt pan, but for a couple of reasons, we declined that offer. Please note that I am not complaining about Rocky, Jimmy, and Simba. They followed the information they had received. I will also say that while we were accepting of the situation, some people could have reacted differently, and that would not have been fair to our crew. To summarise, we loved the trip! • The prevailing Rate of Exchange of the day of payment will be applicable. Costs are subject to change due to currency fluctuations or any other statutory increases beyond our control.
• Confirmation of Hotels and other services is subject to availability
• International hotel check in is 1500hrs and checkout would be 1000hrs
• Early check in and late check-out subject to availability

• All arrangements made by us are in the capacity of a ground handling agent only. We will not be liable for claims or expenses arising from circumstances beyond our control such as accidents, injuries delayed or cancelled flights & acts or forces of nature
• It might be necessary, due to circumstances beyond our control, where there might be a need to change the programme. Closing times at sightseeing points, changed flight times, road blocks, detours or act of nature can also delay the programme. Supplier reserve the right to make changes due to circumstance of this nature.

Cancellation Policy & Payment Terms

We keep it transparent, crystal clear!

• If the Guest decides to cancel the tour for any reason whatsoever then s/he shall give a written application to the Company within specified time limit along with original receipt issued by the Company. Such cancellation will attract cancellation charges stated hereunder.
• Cancellation charges will be calculated on gross tour cost and the cancellation charges shall depend on date of departure and date of cancellation
• Cancellation charges for any type of transport ticket are applicable as per the rules of the concerned authority.
• Air tickets issued on special fares are NON REFUNDABLE and Guest shall bear cancellation charges.
• Any refund payable to the Guest will be paid after the Company receives refund from the respective authorities. The Company deducts processing charges from the refund to be paid to the Guest.

Payment Terms

• Airlines/Room up-gradation and complimentary will not be entertained during the tour unless if specified at the time of booking.
• There is no refund for any services not utilized during the tour.
• Security deposit is required either in cash or credit card by hotels which is refundable provided no room incidentals are incurred. This security deposit is not included in this quote and must be paid by the guests/corporate directly to the hotel when checking in.
• Guests are advised not to keep valuables in the coach/vehicle while sightseeing. The Company shall not be responsible for loss of valuables from the coach / vehicle . If the coach / vehicle is accidentally or otherwise damaged by the Guest, s/he will be required to pay compensation for the same.

• Camp Okavango offers the following activities: Guided nature walks conducted by experienced professional guides, Mokoro (canoe) & motorized boating trips through a variety of tranquil waterways to explore the Okavango.
• Exceptional bird watching opportunities, Fishing for bream and tiger fish (seasonal).
• A dedicated staff member, your “Safari Hero”, will plan your stay, activities, meal times, in camp activities, story times and ensure that both you and your children have an incredible stay at Camp Okavango.
• Return back to Hotel and Overnight stay at Hotel.

• Arrive at Maun Airport, a Desert & Delta Safaris representative will be there to welcome your family to Botswana, present your children (aged 6 to 15) with their special Safari Activity Backpack and assist you on to your charter flight into the heart of the Okavango Delta.
