Elon University Transfers: 2024 Requirements, Dates, GPAs & More

How effective are elon university virtual tours.

It depends how you use them. Elon University is a hustling, bustling campus and community. The beauty of Elon University virtual tours on CampusReel is that authentic video tours, made by real students, can be spectacular at capturing the Elon University vibe. We also go well beyond the confines of the Elon University campus by taking you around Elon. In traditional virtual tours, you will mostly see still, unengaging images and will not see the surrounding area at all – which is why CampusReel virtual tours are so important.

Can a Elon University virtual tour replace a traditional in-person visit?

If you cannot visit Elon University in person, then we can honestly say that we believe a CampusReel virtual tour of Elon University is absolutely the most effective and holistic way to understand the Elon University people, campus and community. However, if you do plan on visiting Elon University and other colleges in person, we strongly recommend that you at least prescreen your college options on CampusReel before spending the time and money to visit. Most prospective families find that as soon as the step on campus, they instantly know whether or not they like the school – but they’ve already spent all that time and money getting there! Our goal is to eliminate all the time and money visiting Elon University in person until you can make a strong educated guess that it’s worth the investment.

What places can I virtually tour at Elon University ?

For your convenience, below is a list of Elon University places you can virtually tour on CampusReel.

  • Elon University at Elon University
  • Schar Hall at Elon University
  • Schar Center at Elon University
  • The Station At Mill Point at Elon University
  • 100 Campus Drive at Elon University
  • Trollinger Ave at Elon University
  • 301 E Haggard Ave at Elon University
  • Campus Drive at Elon University
  • 131 W College Ave at Elon University
  • College Street Taphouse at Elon University
  • McEwen Dining Hall at Elon University
  • 131 N Williamson Ave at Elon University
  • Moseley Center at Elon University
  • Global Neighborhood at Elon University
  • Alumni Gym at Elon University
  • Bill Loy Dr at Elon University
  • North O'Kelly Avenue at Elon University
  • N Williamson Ave at Elon University

What are the downsides of a Elon University virtual tour?

The downside of virtually touring Elon University on CampusReel is that, admittedly, our technology does not yet mimic the exact feeling and experience of visiting Elon University in person. We are working on this though! A common request we also receive from users is to add more perspectives (e.g. student guides) to the platform. Rest assured we are working on adding more CampusReel guides to the Elon University virtual tour. However, our selection of guides still far outweighs the available perspectives of traditional virtual tour platforms.

What are the benefits of a Elon University virtual tour?

The most obvious benefit of a Elon University virtual tour on CampusReel is that is can be accessed from anywhere. This can save families a lot of time and money compared to visiting Elon University in person . Another often overlooked benefit of a CampusReel virtual tour is that it goes far beyond a traditional in person tour Elon University . Campus visits are limited both in time and scope – how are you expected to truly understand a college in a 1 hour tour? That’s why we stress the added benefit of CampusReel virtual tours – experience Elon University and Elon during different seasons, days of the week, and even hours of the day. What’s game day like? What is finals week life? Again, traditional virtual touring platforms don’t include this benefit.

Virtual Tour How-to Guide

Pick a few spots on campus that you think would be locations to showcase in the virtual tour experience.

Ensure that these spots on campus are easily accessible through Google Maps.

The location should be accessed through either the “blue line” or “blue dot” in Google Maps and you can drop the little cartoon person onto street view.

campusreel virtual tour scholarship

Gather the address information for each site and save a photo onto your desktop that would be a snapshot / thumbnail photo for the location.

Adding featured locations in your CampusReel portal:

Navigate to the 360 Virtual Tour tab on the left side of the page→

5. Save the new location!

6. Create as many locations as you would like, using the same process as below.

Adding Calls to Action in your CampusReel portal:

Choose pages on your website that you would like to allow viewers to access while participating in the virtual tour.

Examples: Admissions webpage, Student life webpage, so on.

Copy the URL of your chosen webpage.

In the Call to Action section of the Virtual Immersion setup page:

Click the Display button

For the Button Text, write what you would like the call to action button to say; for example, if you are linking to the Admissions page, type “Apply here!”

In the Buttons URL, paste the copied link to the webpage; for example, paste the URL to the Admissions page

Meet the liberal arts graduate turned entrepreneur bringing campus tours to life

While studying at his small liberal arts college in New York City, Rob Carroll had big ideas.

At 18, he entered his college’s annual entrepreneurship competition named “The Entrepreneurs Fund Summer Accelerator,”  hoping to seal a grant that would spur his start-up concepts.

“My first idea was very niche. Like a Craiglist for college campuses,” said Carroll.

With hard work and determination, he won the competition. Balancing his winning project with a bachelor’s degree in environmental economics, however, proved a struggle for the student because he lacked a like-minded, motivating team to develop the business as he juggles coursework.

In 2017, Carroll entered the competition a second time with his friend Nick Freud. They put forward another college-based concept, but with a virtual twist.

He won it again and  this time, the 27-year-old’s idea became a reality.

“That was actually the first funding we ever got for our company,” he said.

Carroll is now the co-founder of CampusReel, a student-generated video platform that lets viewers stroll through college and university campuses at their own pace.

Putting the college applicant behind the lens

Unlike one-dimensional virtual tours that lack a narrator, Carroll’s campus content allows learners to share their perspectives on the student journey.

“We first had to test hundreds of videos and content styles to find the right fit. Then we placed the students behind the camera and let the narrative flow naturally,” said Carroll.

Once they decided on student-led content, the CampusReel duo knew they had stumbled upon something different.

Carroll said, “Real students make our videos. They own their campus story, and it’s authentic. That’s why we get great engagement on our videos.”

Yet it’s not as simple as handing a student a video recorder and asking them to film around the campus. It takes time to find willing and motivated individuals to showcase their learning environment, as sometimes students can be camera-shy.

For Carroll, watching students share their individual stories is an exciting part of the process.

As he explained, every student is different. Giving someone time to conduct a campus tour through their eyes helps college applicants see what happens behind the scenes in daily student life rather than presenting generic videos of the campus grounds.

Virtual tours: Changing the face of business and society

In less than three years, CampusReel has reached users in 140 countries and raised US$1 million. With the COVID-19 pandemic, they are growing in popularity as high school juniors and international students planning to start college in fall 2021 are not able to visit campuses in person.

For this novel idea conceived at the right time. For this, Carroll and his co-founder were named in this year’s Forbes 30 under 30 for the education category.

“That was the first dose of us realising that our work is getting noticed. From winning entrepreneurial competitions at Colgate University to landing a feature in Forbes, I knew that our ideas had finally come to fruition,” he said.

Gen Z’s growing appetite for visual content

Video is Gen Z’s content of choice — 85% of teens today use YouTube, according to a recent Pew study , and the average time kids spend watching online videos has doubled in the last four years .

“Gen Z only consumes video,” Carroll said, “so it was clear to us early on that there’s a missing link in the college search process, where video content was just a total void.”

At a time of thinning attention spans and instant gratification, the videos need to be short, snappy and attention-worthy too. They make the “ideal marketing method” for colleges and universities, according to Caroll, especially if they feature relatable students that can be contacted.

“I believe a lot of internet consumption this year is going to be largely video content, so if universities want to keep up, they need to turn the camera on,” he said.

For many universities, virtual tours are valuable marketing materials. Source: Ethan Miller/AFP

The future of campus virtual tours and videos

If there’s one piece of advice Carroll has for universities and colleges around the world, it’s that their campus is always changing, so their content needs to too.

“Virtual tours need to be flexible, adaptable and reflect the campus in real-time. The community is always evolving. You need to be able to keep up,” he said.

From his perspective, the biggest drawback of traditional virtual tours is that they are a one-size-fits-all approach.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re from Malaysia or New York or Florida. If you go on a college virtual tour, you’re getting the same experience and what we need to move towards are customised and catered experiences.”

Virtual campus tours are gaining in popularity. Source: Saul Loeb/AFP

For Carroll, virtual experiences must feel personal to the viewer. Generic content would not work — Carroll said colleges and universities need to put the “right content in front of the right student at the right time,” because everyone has a different path they’d like to take. What works for a science student looking at labs may not work for a nursing student who studies at the on-campus hospital.

“During the pandemic, it is even harder for universities to get their marketing across without using video or virtual content. By going online, they can access a diverse pool of students simultaneously.”

And if colleges and universities haven’t transitioned to virtual resources yet, “the time is now”, said Carroll.

“The future is virtual.”

Given that many of these scholarships are lottery-based, it’s easy to apply. Even those that have short essays require minimal time to complete the application process, so they won’t eat up too much of your day. You can maximize your chances of winning one by applying to as many as possible.

Additionally, many of these scholarships you can apply to every month. Make a schedule and fill out the simple online forms for each drawing.

2. Balance easy scholarships out with more specific ones.

You shouldn’t focus solely on “easy” scholarships since your odds of winning are much lower. Because applying to these scholarships takes minimal effort, they draw a high number of entrants. This means your odds of winning are lower than they are for scholarships with a more rigorous application process.

If you apply to scholarships that are tailored to your profile and require more of a time commitment to enter, you will increase your award potential. That might mean entering scholarship contests for people who share your background or demographics or for students intending to study a certain discipline. Find more opportunities on the scholarship section of our blog .

3. Apply to schools with generous merit scholarships.

Most scholarship money comes from schools themselves and not external providers. Many schools consider students for merit scholarships just based on their application, so it’s no extra work; in fact, many schools have automatic scholarships based on SAT/ACT scores . Applying to schools where you’re in the top 75th percentile or above in terms of grades and test scores can maximize your chances of getting merit scholarships.

Amount:  $1,000 Awarded:  Annually Deadline: December 31 Check out the HeadSetPlus.com College Scholarship .

Use your creativity

Are you better with visuals than you are with words? Well, these scholarships are looking for that creative energy!

Doodle for Google

This is Google we’re talking about, so you know they’ve got big bucks. Not only is this an opportunity to win $55,000 for school, but the winning doodle will be featured on Google for a day and they will donate $50,000 to your school or a charity in your honor! And even if you don’t win the big money, you still have a chance at one of the $5,000 runner-up scholarships.

Amount: Up to $55,000 Awarded:  Annually Deadline: March 14, 2024 (Always early-to-mid March) Check out the  Doodle for Google contest .

Create-A-Greeting-Card Scholarship Contest

If doodling for Google didn’t expend all your creative juices, you can also create a greeting card. Take photographs for it. Design it with artwork. The creative medium is up to you, and the general public votes on the winner in the early rounds, so rally your friends and family to help you with this one.

Amount:  $10,000 Awarded:  Annually Deadline: March 1, 2024 (Always beginning of March) Check out the  Create-A-Greeting-Card Scholarship Contest .

DoSomething.org Easy Scholarships

DoSomething doesn’t have just one easy scholarship—they have a ton! Most of them are creative and require you to make some sort of impact on others, whether big or small. Get your task, complete it, and send in a picture for proof for a chance to be their randomly chosen winner! Then rinse and repeat for their other tasks with coordinating scholarships.

Amount:  Up to $22,000 Awarded:  Varies Deadline:  Varies Check out all of  DoSomething.org's easy scholarships .

Answer some questions

Sometimes websites just want people to fill out their surveys, and they’ll give you money for school just to do it. Or maybe the organization wants you to learn about something that they do. Either way, these scholarships just require answering a few questions to enter.

The $1,000 SuperCollege Scholarship

What’s easier than answering questions about yourself? Fill out an application and tell SuperCollege what you’re going to school for and other academic-related questions, hit submit, and you’re done.

Amount:  $1,000 Awarded:  Monthly Deadline:  Last day of the month Check out the  $1,000 SuperCollege Scholarship .

Nitro Monthly Scholarship

Nitro is another college search website that gives away annual scholarships to students monthly. Just complete a short entry form with info including which college you’ll be attending and when you anticipate graduating. This application even allows parents to enter for their children. As long as you're 17 years old, you should apply to this one now!

Amount:  $2,000 Awarded:  Monthly Deadline:  Last day of the month Check out Nitro's Monthly Scholarship .

Student-View Scholarship

This one skips the application process and gets right to the questions. Fill out their survey to get entered into their random drawing. The big winner gets $10,000, and if that’s not you, you could still be one of two $1,000 winners or one of five $500 winners.

Amount: Up to $10,000 Awarded:  Annually Deadline: April 23, 2024 Check out the  Student-View Scholarship .

ScholarshipPoints Scholarship Giveaways

As you complete surveys, play games, and read emails from ScholarshipPoints, you’ll gain points. Use the points to enter their scholarship drawings; the more you have, the better your chances of winning. In addition to the points, you could potentially win their monthly and quarterly random winner giveaways just for being a registered user.

Amount: $10,000; $2,500 Awarded:  Quarterly; monthly Deadline:  June; last day of each month Check out the  $10,000 and $2,500 scholarships .

While this may be a long list of easy no-essay scholarships, there could be even more on the internet that we didn’t find, so keep doing your research (and let us know if we missed any on Twitter @CollegeXpress ). You can also check out our  Ultimate List of Easy Scholarships .

High School Class of 2021

CollegeXpress helped me by providing me with many scholarship opportunities and information about universities I want to attend. What I love about CollgeXpress is how it provides a variety of information, and as the first child attending a university next year, it has been very essential and helpful. I’m so grateful for this because the information provided by CollegeXpress has also helped me see that there are so many college opportunities, and it always informs me by email. In other words, CollegeXpress has been like a guide for me as a future college student.

I’d like to thank everyone on the CollegeXpress team for their generosity. Not only have I been awarded this scholarship, but CollegeXpress makes it easier to apply and gives amazing tips for schools and scholarships. I am extremely grateful as this will help with my schooling and allow me to be able to enter into the field I’ve been dreaming of all my life.

High School Class of 2024

I found CollegeXpress when you partnered with Bold.org for a scholarship. I found your website, put my information in, and got connected. I only wanted to stay in North Carolina [for college] and not move far from home, but you all opened a door up for me. I started researching colleges you suggested for me. On your social media platforms, you also give really good test-taking tips that I used and suggested others to do the same. It helped me a lot on my exams, so thank you.

Sarah Armstrong

High School Class of 2022

I am a deaf student, and I had always dreamed of going to Gallaudet University. CollegeXpress helped me search though other qualified universities. They helped me know for sure that Gallaudet University was the right choice for me!

Cameron Lee

I used CollegeXpress to search for colleges. It helped me narrow down the schools on the West Coast and which schools had Construction Engineering programs. I made my decision to go to OSU and I am so excited about it.
