Beautiful Location

I had never been to Nicaragua before and somehow I didn't picture pine forests and mountains. I didn't have time to zip line, but did do a little walking around the grounds and had a beer and snack. La Brellera was clean and well run. The staff was very pleasant. If you are lucky Francisco will show off his perfectly restored 1982 Toyota Land Cruiser.

Our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids ages 13, 10, and 6) did this tour at the end of our 3 week trip to Nicaragua. It was awesome! First, as a parent, let me tell you about the safety. I was nervous about taking my kids (and myself!) on this tour but I felt 100% safe the entire time - even though I'm not crazy about heights. The whole course was explained with a map and then we got our harnesses, helmets and gloves on. Everything was checked and double-checked. We got good instructions. Every zip has two cables that you are hooked onto. You are *always* hooked to something at any given moment. The attention to detail safety-wise was apparent everywhere you looked. You have two guides with you: one in front and one behind. Our youngest is not the bravest soul so he rode in tandem with one of the guides which he *loved.* I wasn't sure he'd be brave enough to handle this activity but the guides were so warm and funny and confident that they helped him feel comfortable. OK, now that the safety stuff is out of the way, let me tell you how much FUN this is! You can control your speed by using your gloved hand on the zip line as a brake. So, you can go as fast or slow as you feel comfortable going. The course is in a gorgeous highland pine forest. And zipping along these lines was just so much fun. On the last zip, you get to go upside down all the way down to the ground. What a rush! The staff here are amazing. I really can't say enough about them. We were lucky enough to bump into the owner of the Tour when we were checking into our hotel in town. So, he offered to give us a ride out there- saving us cab fare. The young men who took us on the tour were attentive, knowledgeable, funny, (and gorgeous!) I highly recommend this tour!

We've never zip lined and were a little apprehensive but thanks to Carlos and Lester we had an amazing experience. They were helpful and fun and ensured that we not only were safe but that we had an unforgettable experience. The scenery was amazing!

My friend and I went in mid-January and really enjoyed it. The staff is friendly and funny especially Brad and Gabriel. If you speak Spanish, it's better cause the English abilities were a bit limited. There was a safety demo in the beginning, you're always clipped in and have two guides with you throughout the course. It's not as high and you don't go as fast as other zip-lining places, but it was still an adrenaline rush. We really enjoyed our experience and the staff was really helpful in arranging our transport back to our hotel, calling and negotiating with the taxi driver for us even though it was after closing time. Definitely worth the money and travel time out there!

So happy to have finally tried out this attraction! We havae done canopy tours in other parts of Nicaragua and Costa Rica. This was top-notch! Well maintained grounds, professional and safety minded staff! I definitely recommend this! Beautiful and different área of Nicaragua!

I have visited the Canopy Tour La Brellera 4 times. I have taken my two kids, and recently I visited with 3 friends. I love it! My friends were impressed too. The staff is cordial, the owner is bilingual. The view of the pristine hills is spectacular. A must do when visiting Nicaragua. I recommend a pair of walking shoes; there is a short trip back (on foot) to the starting point. There is a cooler with water and beer available for purchase at the end of the 1 hour adventure.

Great adventure! Beautiful views.

This was such an amazing experience. Beautiful views and excellent conscientious staff. I would highly recommend!

Its our placer have u we hope u come soon as posible 😊

In fifth trip to Nica took drive north from Matagalpa to La Brellera and am so glad we did. Views from road are spectacular, including the startling transition from rain forest to cool alpine terrain- completely unexpected. Facilities are clean and modern, staff are professional, and countryside is as beautiful as anywhere I've seen. Finished canopy tour and returned to office on horseback...incredible. Finished off with fresh and tasty barbecue meal under pines while buzzed by hummingbirds. An epic day and well worth trip. A must do if visiting northern Nica.

The cooler weather in this high location made for a very pleasant excursion. The double cables and safety conscious staff made me feel comfortable on this adventure. The food from the on site little restaurant was good too.

This is a great location to go zip lining. It was very close to San Rafael del Norte - we stayed at the hotel there. The folks at the hotel called the owner of the zipline and he picked is up since he was about to go up to Brellera. It was $20/person to do all the lines. We decided to walk back to town but the owner told us how to go the old road... Very beautiful and tranquil. It's worth spending a day in San Rafael and doing this zipline and then go south to see the ladies who make the black ceramics.

Description

Canopy La Brellera offers nine platforms connected by eight cables and two hanging bridges, allowing participants to 'zip' from tree to tree. The distances (and speed!) will vary between the different ziplines, but this is certainly a thrilling experience, both for people who have never ziplined before as for people with experience.

The full tour lasts 45 minutes for US$20 per person. The canopy opens every day (from Monday to Sunday) from 8 AM to 5:30 PM. There are two short tour options: US$18 per person for 5 cables, and US$13 for three cables. All tours include guides with experience. Check below some details. La Brellera opens daily from 8 AM to 5:30 PM.

The bilingual staff of La Brellera will provide all necessary equipment, including gloves, helmets and harnais. Instructions will be provided to make sure every participant will safely move from platform to platform. You can enjoy a different and home made barbecue food at the restaurant in place.

Please note that it is not possible to undertake this activity if there is any thunderstorm in the area.
