Great service, lovely people working onboard. It was one of the most relaxing holiday, thanks to P&O. Remember, its an older ship… so no big slides or huge street disco like MSC, but less people which we liked… not the 6 thousands but the 3 thousand??
Very Britisch,elegant,traditional,classic cruise line.Formal nights every 3-4 days so you feel like on Titanic. High level of entertainment with additional,interesting lectures during long cruise/40 days/. Superb itinerary. The only minus is limited choise of food and specific britisch menu.

Thinking of booking two back cruises.Norwegian Fjords followed by Iberia cruise.Both are from Southampton on two different ships Iona and Ventura for 7 nights each.I know you get an extra discount for back to back cruises if it was the same ship but would you still get it for two different ships.

Yes, there is a 10% back to back discount applied to each booking if you book more than one consecutive cruise on the same ship. Applicable to the P&O Cruises Select Fare only . This discount is called a ‘Combination Saver’. The combination saver does not apply to World Cruises, Classic Southern Hemisphere Journeys, Exotic fly-cruises, 7 night Mediterranean Fly cruises, Arabian Gulf Fly cruises or if one, or both, of the cruises are of 5 nights or less or 40 nights or more in...

P&O Cruises releases summer 2026 programme with booking discount

P&O Cruises has released its summer 2026 programme with an early-bird booking discount.

More than 20 seven-night Mediterranean sailings departing from Southampton feature in the collection, across most of the line’s fleet.

Arvia (pictured) and Iona will each operate four new seven-night southern Mediterranean itineraries calling at Bilbao, La Coruna, Vigo and Cherbourg. Prices start at £649.

Arvia will also operate 14-night western Mediterranean itineraries, each with six different ports of call, and the ship will sail to Rome for the first time. Prices start at £1,149.

The line said it is operating more overnights and late calls in its 2026 programme, with Britannia offering evening departures in seven ports of call in the season including Ibiza, Cagliari and Copenhagen, while overnight stays in Valetta, Quebec, Boston and New York feature on itineraries operated by Azura and Arcadia.

Aurora will sail 21-night central Mediterranean and 24-night eastern Mediterranean cruises, featuring “refreshed itineraries”, the line said. Prices lead in at £2,549.

Aurora will also operate a sailing calling at Istanbul which will mark the first time the line has visited the destination since 2015. Prices for the sailing, which will depart from Southampton on August 19, 2026, start at £2,249.

Azura will continue to operate fly-cruise itineraries in 2026, with a mixture of western, central and eastern Mediterranean itineraries departing from Malta every Thursday, with options for seven and 14-night sailings.

For the first time, the line’s 21-night Central Mediterranean itinerary will focus on Croatia, with calls at Dubrovnik, Split and Zadar, as well as four Mediterranean islands: Sardinia, Corfu, Malta and Mallorca. Prices for the sailing on Britannia which will depart on June 5, 2026, start at £1,999.

Britannia will also sail a new 14-night Iceland itinerary which will feature two full days in Reykjavik plus calls to Akureyri and Isafjordur. Prices start from £1,499.

Iona will operate seven-night Norwegian fjords itineraries throughout the whole summer 2026 season, including eight sailings during the school holidays. The lead-in price is £629.

The collection also features four special event cruises, three of which include opportunities to witness a total solar eclipse. Ventura will operate a 14-night Atlantic Coast cruise costing from £1,499 while Arcadia sails an Iceland and British Isles cruise from Southampton priced from £1,840.

Customers will have the option to add an overnight stay in Greenock to the Arcadia sailing to see the Edinburgh Tattoo.

The final special event cruise is a Northern Lights sailing on Aurora departing on October 20, 2026, and costing from £1,249.

Holidays booked by June 4 for departure between March 20 and October 31, 2026, will receive a 10% discount on applicable Select Price sailings as well as a 10% deposit offer on Select Price and Early Saver bookings.

Actually did me a favour needing the card as I didn't have one. Now I have a discount on my travel to join the cruise as well.

It's also less and on a scale according to cabin category. I haven't got a problem with that inasmuch as whatever the amount, it's a bonus. However if you then apply to have share holder benefit credited to your obc, the military benefit will be deducted. You can't have both and the one worth more is applied and the other disregarded.

However with princess you get more & KEEP any Shareholder OBC. But remember that P&O give Military OBC to the spouse as well but Princess do not.

I never did understand the 'spouse' element and wouldn't have an issue if that wasn't the case. However, what I don't understand is that if you have bought shares in the Company why that then disqualifies you from Military Benefit if you would otherwise be eligible for it? Why should those who have shares be discriminated against and unable to claim military benefit which they would get if not shareholders? The two are completely separate.

And I've just thought of another aspect to this which confuses me: my DH is the one who qualifies for Military Benefit and the share holding is in my name and appears only on my obc, not his as only one share holder benefits can be applied per cabin. OK, then but why does my DH lose his military benefit when he's not getting the share holding benefit?

It's not how much money is involved but the principle of why one cancels out your eligibility for the other.

Another thing I don't understand is why on other Carnival brands where the onboard currency is US$ that the share holder benefit is worth 22% more than on P&O where it is paid in GBP? Why aren't they more or less equivalent allowing for a bit of roundindg up or down to the nearest round number?

We were surprised when we booked a cruise on board with £100 obc that we were denied our Military benefit........you can't have both!

Oh what travel have you used please, as we have a Defence discount card and to be honest haven’t actually used it much.

The only time that you keep any OBC you receive when booking as well as military OBC is if the fare is of the SELECT status. Earlier saver does not entitle you to Military OBC.

Sorry that is incorrect based on my recent experience. We have just paid the final balance on a Select Fare booking. The military benefit was applied automatically at booking (they have evidence of eligibility on file) but when I subsequently applied for the share holder benefit, which you can only do after full payment, the military benefit was removed and share holder applied. I rang P&O to ask why the obc hadn't been increased by the amount I expected and received the explanation that share holding and military benefits were not combinable. They will actually apply whichever is the greater but it still begs the question as to why shareholders cannot have the military benefit - the qualification to apply for these two benefits are completely different and one of them you've paid for!

I agree I can understand why perhaps you can’t get a welcome back benefit and the military benefit, but the shareholders benefit should be combinable with any other benefit. Perhaps all the shareholders should complain about this. Unfortunately we are not one of those.

Thanks for the clarification - sorry I assumed you were including share holder benefit in your reply. Obviously I didn't read it carefully enough and jumped to conclusions.

I do agree with you that there is an element of shabby treatment compared with the American based lines - undoubtedly due to passenger demographic. I'm sure a case could be made for discrimation but as DH says, were you to make a fuss they could change the criteria or withdraw some of these benefits altogether. We're at their mercy in this respect. Glad you feel you are treated more fairly and/or with greater respect on Princess. Enjoy your cruises with them.

Well that's interesting. It's definitely been removed from our booking as described above and as I said when I rang that's what they confirmed. Hmm....... I just assumed the 'Parthership' reference related to shares but if you are correct, then it's even more confusing.

I think you are correct Scriv. Shareholder benefit is compatible with other benefits. Military benefit is not compatible with any other promotional offer of extra OBC e.g. booking on board. I have just returned from a Cruise where I received both Military benefit and my shareholder benefit. If they withdrew shareholder benefit I think a lot of people would be looking to sell shares. I agree with your sentiments. This new arrangement only came into force on 1.3.18 so perhaps the full payment for your cruise was made before that date so wasn't affected.

One wonders why they bothered to introduce Military benefit at all !!!

Holders of a Blue Light Card can get a discount on P&O cruises as well as at multiple businesses, shops and restaurants. The cards cost £5 for 5 years and are available to current and retired members of any U.K. emergency services.

I've just checked the Cunard site - Military Benefit combinable with other obc!

Decided to ask the question of P&O - as I've said before, it's not the money but the principle of why P&O discrimate against shareholders in this respect.

I have searched ask.pocruises.com with the following that I quote:

Shareholder Benefit will not be granted if your booking is booked through a Friends and Family offer, TIS(Travel Industry Services) or a complementary booking. All other fare types are currently combinable with shareholder benefits.

Disney has a well-established reputation for honoring those who serve our country and their loved ones. However, navigating the landscape of Disney’s military discounts can be challenging if you’re unsure where to start. Disney has special offers on park tickets, resort stays, and cruises. We’ll dig in to discover how Disney salutes our country’s dedicated service members — and, if you’re eligible, how to access these perks.

Military Discounts for Disney Theme Park Tickets

Walt Disney World’s Disney Military Salute Ticket and Disneyland’s Disney Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket programs have been extended through 2024. These generously discounted programs have been renewed yearly since 2009, but every year, we wait on the edge of our seats to see if they will be renewed because they’re such a popular discount.

You need to meet specific criteria to be eligible. There are slight variations in each park’s requirements, so double-check the links we provide for specifics, but here’s the meat of it:

To qualify for the discounted ticket, you must meet at least 1 of these requirements:

Active or retired U.S. military personnel , including active or retired members of the U.S. National Guard, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Military Reserves, and U.S. Department of Defense
Honorably discharged veteran with 100% permanent and total (P&T) service-connected disability
Active or retired Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service (PHS) or Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
A spouse of an eligible service member with an active and valid military ID
Military personnel of foreign nations and their family members, when assigned or attached to a U.S. military unit or installation
Widowed and non-remarried spouse of personnel who died while on active duty or while in retired status
Non-remarried former spouse who was married to military personnel while on active duty for at least 20 years

These tickets are fairly flexible, though there are some requirements of which you’ll need to be aware:

The eligible service member or their spouse must be present in the party on the day of activation
The same person must use each ticket for the duration of the ticket
Tickets are non-transferable
The discount cannot be combined with any other offer
There is a maximum of 6 passes per eligible service member or their spouse (but not both)
Tickets must be purchased at a U.S. military base ticket office

This last requirement means each family can purchase a maximum of 6 passes at Walt Disney World and a further 6 passes at Disneyland Resort. The exception is if both spouses are on active duty or retired military who fall into the categories above.

If you have a larger immediate family, such as a spouse and 5 children, Disney will generally make an exception to allow all of you access to a discounted ticket.

One of the most exciting aspects of the discounted tickets, discount aside, is that they do not need to be used consecutively and don’t expire 14 days after first use like standard tickets do.

If you decide to go for a day trip in April but have always wanted to see the magic of Disney during the holidays, that’s completely doable. It’s like a mini-annual pass.

With the Disney Military Salute Ticket (also known as the Armed Forces Salute Ticket), you can save up to 40% on your visit to Walt Disney World, with your most significant savings occurring during the busiest times of the year. The discount is significant thanks to the tiered pricing that standard tickets incur based on demand. Disney Military Salute Tickets don’t have this issue; the ticket price is the same no matter when you visit.

Here’s an example of the price difference you can experience between tickets:

As you can see, there’s a huge difference in how much you’ll need to pay with the military ticket versus a regular ticket.

Disney credit cardholders get special park perks , such as discounts on dining and merchandise.

Where Can You Visit With Disney Military Salute Tickets?

There are 2 types of Disney Military Salute Tickets available to service members. The least expensive tickets still include park hopping abilities , which means you can visit multiple Walt Disney World theme parks on the same day.

The Disney Military Salute Ticket With Park Hopper Plus , meanwhile, also provides admission each day to one of the following attractions (based on the length of your ticket):

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon
Disney’s Blizzard Beach
ESPN World Wide Sports Complex
Mini golf courses

Disney Military Salute Ticket Blackout Dates

The blackout dates for Disney Military Salute Tickets change each year. Here are the blackout dates for 2024:

March 24, 2024, to April 6, 2024
November 24, 2024, to November 30, 2024

Walt Disney World’s military tickets for 2024 expire on December 20, 2024 .

Disneyland also offers military discount tickets at significantly discounted prices. Here’s what you can expect to pay.

Unlike Walt Disney World, these tickets don’t have any blackout dates. However, you must use up all your days by December 13, 2024 , or the remainder will be forfeited.

For those who are unfamiliar, Genie+ is the paid version of Disneyland’s old FASTPASS system, which allows you to make ride reservations and skip the general queues.

If you aren’t active duty military, retired, or a 100% P&T disabled veteran, you won’t qualify for the Walt Disney World’s Disney Military Salute Ticket or Disneyland’s Disney Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket. In that case, you may be entitled to a standard military discount ticket .

Unfortunately, the discount is not as steep, and, depending on when you’re going, may just shave a few dollars off the ticket price . Still, it’s better than nothing if you’re considering the regular military discount because you have a party larger than 6 of non-immediate family or friends.

Like the specialty Disney military tickets, you must purchase this ticket type in advance from your MRW office, other eligible base ticketing offices, or Shades of Green, the military-owned Walt Disney World hotel.

Disney offers theme park discounts for Disneyland and Walt Disney World, though the ticket price will depend on your military status.

Military Discounts at Disney Hotels

The Walt Disney World Resort has more than 25 hotels available for guests. As you can imagine, it’s a sprawling complex.

Those with the same eligibility requirements for Disney Military Salute Tickets can also score deals on Walt Disney World Resort hotel stays.

To book rooms at discounted rates, call 407-939-7830. Note that the longest period you’ll be able to stay is 14 nights. There are also restrictions on which room types and resorts are eligible for this offer.

Shades of Green

Although it is owned by the Department of Defense (DoD), Shades of Green is considered a Walt Disney World Resort hotel due to its location within the grounds. Not everyone is eligible to stay here, though thanks to the Disabled Veterans Equal Access Act of 2018, many more veterans are now allowed access.

Shades of Green is considered a moderate Disney hotel, but it’s an upgraded version. The rooms are larger than those in other moderate hotels, and the amenities resemble those of a Deluxe Resort.

If you’re eligible to stay here, Shades of Green may be the best value for your money. The price for the standard room, which can sleep up to 5 people, starts at $174 per night for E1 to E6 active military personnel — the price increases for other tiers, including officers and veterans.

Even without a dedicated military hotel like Shades of Green, Disneyland does offer military discounts on hotel and resort stays. To book this offer, call 833-618-0536 .

From what we can tell, because the inventory is constantly fluctuating, so are the prices. If you have the freedom of price and time of year, it’s best to call and ask what will give you the best value and try to base your trip around that.

For example, we checked out a 2-night stay at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa in mid-August. Standard rooms, which are the least expensive, were going for $683 per night before taxes.

However, when we called to ask for the military discount, we were quoted $614 per night . That’s a decent chunk of change, especially during the summer season.

We’d be remiss not to include discounts available for Disney Cruise Line ! Eligibility requirements are similar to those who qualify for the Disney Military Salute Ticket or Disneyland’s Disney Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket, including active duty, retirees, and those who are 100% P&T disabled.

Only 50 rooms per cruise are available with the military discount, so they sell out quickly. Be sure to check frequently to see which cruises are being offered with a discount , and call 800-951-3532 to make reservations as soon as they are available .

Beyond this, you’re only entitled to 1 discounted room per sailing, so if you travel in a large group, you’ll want to consider the cost of a second room.

Although Disney Cruise Line sailings tend to be more expensive than other cruise lines, they’re also high-quality and a lot of fun. The military discount you can receive can also significantly drop the cost.

For example, you can book a 12-night cruise in a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah for $9,744 with a military discount. That’s a lot, but who wouldn’t love to visit Norway and Iceland?

That same cruise for regular guests, however, is $14,242 .

That’s a savings of $4,498 or nearly 32%!

Disney is a world of its own. So many of us go there to escape the stressors of everyday life and immerse ourselves in the dreamlike wonder of being a kid again. What better gift to our military personnel than to make that magic accessible to those who need it most and their respective families?
