Aussie couple will sail every Queen of the sea (including the retired ones)

What are your holiday plans for 2024? Whatever they are, it’s a fairly safe bet they’re not going to be too close to those of Mark Eden and Jay Cadiramen, who next year are set to pack six Cunard ships into their holiday time.

The Queen Anne will launch next June.

Setting off from their Melbourne home in December, the couple will join Queen Elizabeth for a 14-day Australia and New Zealand Christmas and New Year cruise. In June, they’ll fly to Los Angeles for a stay on the Cunard ship-turned-hotel, the original Queen Mary at Long Beach. From there, it’s an eight-day Transatlantic crossing on Queen Mary 2. Next up, to close out June, it’s the debut of Queen Anne with the seven-day maiden voyage to the Norwegian fjords. And to celebrate Cunard then having four ships in service, they’ll join a cruise aboard Queen Victoria, sailing on a seven-day Adriatic and Mediterranean itinerary with a stint in Rome to follow.

But wait: there’s more. From Rome, they’ll fly to Dubai, where they used to live, for a stay on the famous QE2, another Cunard ship repurposed as a hotel.

There are several reasons for their extraordinary itinerary and dedication to Cunard but the primary driver is personal history. Eden’s father was chief engineer on Cunard’s Caronia, working as an engineer aboard Queen Mary and previously the Queen Elizabeth.

Having grown up surrounded by Cunard myth and memorabilia, eight years ago Eden, the general manager of an architectural firm and Cadiramen, a senior public servant, boarded one of the venerable British line’s ships for the first time. It was love.

Says Cadiramen: “Our first cruise was on Celebrity. We got the bug and moved to Cunard. Because of Mark’s connection it was an easy choice to make. And then once we did the one with Cunard, we’ve never gone with anyone else.”

Between that first Cunard cruise and these upcoming jaunts, the married couple has already clocked up several trips on the Queens, always booking a suite in the Grills class – either Queens Grill or Princess Grill. These luxurious, butler-tended accommodations afford sumptuous space, with Queens Grill Suites offering a separate living and bedroom. Guests also have access to an exclusive restaurant and lounge.

Eden and Cadiramen are big spa fans onboard and enjoy the shows as well. While they tend to keep to themselves, they’ve made great friends on their cruises and relish the classic Cunard touches.

“We love dressing up for dinner and that sort of formality,” says Eden. “That’s one of the reasons we choose to go back but we’ve noticed they’re not enforcing the dress code, particularly on the Australian legs. We understand that but it’s still something we really enjoy about Cunard.”

Five years ago, they began talking about doing a Transatlantic Crossing with Cunard to mark a significant birthday for Eden in 2023.

“I started looking into it and I realised we weren’t going to manage to do it this year,” says Eden. “And one thing led to another – this ridiculous scenario of ‘Oh, let’s add another trip. Let’s do another one. Let’s do the Queen Mary in Los Angeles beforehand. And maybe we can go around the world following the ships’. It just sort of grew from there and I kept saying to Jay, ‘I’ve got an idea; what about if we …’ And every time, he said, ‘Yeah, sounds great to me’.”

The rest, as they say, will be a history Eden’s seafaring dad would be very proud of indeed.

Sapphire Princess will redeploy to Australia six months earlier than previously planned with 44 new cruises from five major cities. The new year-long program for Sapphire Princess in Australia will be on sale beginning Thursday, February 27, 2020, by contacting a professional travel advisor, calling Princess Cruises, or booking online .

We will provide complete details to all guests booked on impacted voyages via email, Cruise Personalizer , or their travel advisor.

Black Friday travel deals 2023: Shop offers on flights, holidays and rail fares

While the big day is still weeks away, get prepared to tick iconic destinations off your travel bucket list in 2024 by bagging a bargain on short and long-haul journeys in the Black Friday sales, whether you’re dreaming of European hotspots or trips to the Caribbean .

Black Friday is the ideal opportunity to score discounts on hotel stays, flights and all-inclusive package holidays. Budget travellers could save hundreds on their next trip with travel deals from Booking.com to Expedia and G Adventures.

Last year saw big deductions from Tui, First Choice and easyJet on package holiday deals, with up to £200 off selected summer trips , city breaks and winter sun getaways from the cost-savvy providers.

With offers available from Black Friday on 24 November well into Cyber Monday on 27 November, we’ll be keeping this guide updated in the lead-up to one of the biggest sales event of the year.

Avid travellers can save over 30 per cent on selected hotel reservations and accommodation with  Booking.com’s  Black Friday offerings from 16–29 November. The cost-saving stays can be booked for dates between now and 31 December 2024, whether a long weekend away or a week of relaxing beside the beach, and there’s even up to 25 per cent off visits activities, including river cruises and guided museum tours, as long as they’re taken within three months of booking.

Members of  Expedia  can sign in to save 30 per cent or more on selected hotels from New York to Dubai when they book before 29 November. That’s a hefty 20 per cent additional discount from the standard members deal of 10 per cent off worldwide hotels in the holiday provider’s biggest travel sale of the year. Holidays with nights in spacious suites and elegant apartments are bookable for travel until the end of 2024 as part of the Black Friday deal.

G Adventures

There are big savings on big adventures with  G Adventures  this Black Friday. Intrepid explorers can save up to 30 per cent per person on small group tours for select dates departing before 30 April 2024. Cruises, National Geographic expeditions and hiking treks to discover the continents must be booked between 1–30 November 2023 to benefit from the adventure travel group’s generous discount.

Lastminute.com

While  lastminute.com’s  Black Friday holiday deals will officially be open for booking on 20 November, flash sales ahead of the big day mean you can secure a steal on package trips now. Destinations including Dubai, Prague, and Majorca feature flights and five-star accommodation from just £179pp as part of the promotion and a seven-night all-in stay in sundrenched Antalya in March will set travellers back only £319pp.

AttractionTickets.com

Those planning a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the US will find 10 per cent off attraction tickets and hotel packages in  AttractionTickets.com’s  Black Friday sale with code BLACKFRIDAY between 9 and 27 November. This means savings of up to £118.50pp on Orlando Freedom Tickets with 14 days of admission to all Disney, Universal and SeaWorld parks and a £50.30pp price slash on the Grand Canyon West Rim Helicopter & Skywalk Express Tour in Las Vegas.

Royal Caribbean

This Black Friday seafaring travellers can save up to £625pp on their European  Royal Caribbean  cruises with seven-night balcony staterooms available on  Anthem of the Seas  journeys across Northern Europe and the Mediterranean from just £999pp. With  Anthem of the Seas  departing and returning from Southampton in the summer of 2024, this penny-saving promotion from 10 November to 4 December means you won’t even need to worry about airfares.

What travel deals can we expect in the Black Friday 2023 sale?

If  Black Friday 2022  is any indication, expect to see discounts from many of the UK’s major airlines, package holiday providers and hotel groups on airfares, accommodation and attractions in two weeks.

Secret Escapes  has confirmed that their Black Friday promotion of up to 50 per cent off or more will drop this Friday, 10 November.

Tui  offered savings of up to £200 off selected 2023 holidays last year.

Travelodge  featured a 30 per cent saving off the cheapest night on stays booked for over two nights in the 2022 sales.

Ryanair’s last Cyber Monday promotion welcomed flights from €29.99 for travel between April and June.

Virgin Atlantic saw savings of £100 on Upper Class flights and 10 per cent off package holidays last November.

Jet2holidays  kicked off their Black Friday 2022 sale with discounts up to 50 per cent on hotel stays.

European Space Agency signs agreement with Starlab developers to secure ongoing access to low Earth orbit

Disneyland Resort Communications & Public Affairs encompasses media relations, public relations, corporate citizenship, government relations, internal communications, and executive communications. Often working with other business units across the resort, the team strives to protect and enhance the reputation of the Disneyland Resort. This internship opportunity focuses on Internal Communication and how we strategically engage our Cast Members and share their stories.

A Day in the Life…

• Share what the magic of working at Disneyland Resort is like. Pull back the curtain to showcase our culture, environment, work, and opportunities through internal and external communication channels.
• Collaborate with the Public Affairs team to help ensure we tell our Disneyland story in the most innovative and creative ways.
• Build relationships with partners locally and across the company to amplify our message.
• Support the day-to-day priorities of the Internal Communications team, including the distribution of our operational communications vehicles.
• You embrace getting in on the action – helping with deliveries, installation, backstage distribution, and other tasks that help us bring campaigns to life.
• Have those “pinch yourself moments” when you walk down Main Street, U.S.A. before park opening or Avengers Campus after park close, and you realize: you’re working at Disneyland!

What we are looking for…

Basic Qualifications:

• You love to write and possess the talent to write in varying tones, voices, and styles in order to meet the appetite of our diverse audience and platforms (print, web, social media, and video).
• You have project management skills and can shape the overall vision of a project with key partners to deliver results.
• You thrive on building new relationships and carefully fostering existing ones.
• You’re a quick learner who enjoys taking on new challenges big and small.

Preferred Qualifications:

• You have experience with Adobe Creative Suite, videography, and/or photography.
• You are looking to tap into the creative side of your brain by creating graphic design elements that complement our communication campaigns.
• You’re knowledgeable about AP style and can craft messaging with quick turnaround in a fast-paced environment.
• You are passionate and knowledgeable about the Disney culture and shaping its future.

Required Education:

• Currently enrolled as a senior in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class or be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months at the time of application, or be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Internship
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 pursuing a degree in communications or a related major.

Required Materials:

• A writing sample is required for this position.  For full consideration, please include a link to your writing sample on your résumé or attach it to your cover letter. Applicants without a writing sample will not be considered a completed application packet and may not be fully considered for the position.
• The pay rate for this internship in California is $21.20 per hour

Additional Information:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization
• Must be compliant with  The Disney Look  appearance guidelines
• This internship is a hybrid position - Must be able to provide a working, reliable internet connection as well as a quiet, dedicated workspace
• Program length - The approximate dates of this internship are January 2024 through June 2024
• Work details - Must be able to work FULL-TIME hours (approximately 40 per week) for the duration of the internship
• Must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the session
• Transportation - Must have reliable transportation to/from work
• Housing - Must provide own housing for the duration internship program
