Went on a small bus tour through Glencoe, Fort William, and sailed across Loch Ness - fantastic memories! It was a good leisurely pace through the Highlands with nice breaks. I only wish we had more time in Glencoe! I enjoyed going in February off-season - the snowcapped mountains were a beautiful aesthetic. Our tour guide Francis was phenomenal. She was friendly, entertaining, and an all-around wonderful human being. I look forward to coming back.

This was an amazing tour!! Thanks to our tour guide Colin, we learned so much with a friendly manner. Colin was very knowledgeable and tended the tour to our interests. We'd highly recommend this tour company to anyone traveling and wanting to learn more about the highlands. Thank you much!!

From the special little goody bag they started our cruise excursion with to the many sites and places to visit in the Glasgow area. They set the times for sites but were fluid in case of rain or traffic accident which shut down a road for three hours so we had to detour and saw different but just as amazing sites but less busy. We saw an ancient Roman road, hairy cows, etc that we're not on the guide but the tour guide re-jigged due to knowing the roads so he could still get us to the planned sites.

We met a fellow American woman waiting for the City Sightseeing bus and she told us about Discover Scotland. My friend and I booked Tour 2 in the brochure with our hotel the Doubletree upon returning from a long day in the city. Pickup was much appreciated, unlike another company we looked at which met near George Square. Stewart was on time, and it turned out to be a private tour for us as no one else booked. We had a fantastic time and it was because of Stewart. He was knowledgable, funny, professional, shared his diverse music playlist, and shared personal stories which was nice to hear. And he asked about our lives as well. This was possible because it was just the three of us. Stewart went out of his way to allow us a picture of a coo which I had to see up close; stopped on the roadside just long enough to snap a few pics of Castle Stalker; and drove us to Kingshouse Hotel to take pics of roaming red deer. Not so easy with a full motor coach. The tour was a nice pace, lots to see, and ample time to roam around Oban and Inverary, It would have been nice to see Kilchurn Castle but I read that it was temporarily closed; no big deal. My friend and I, especially me, are big Outlander fans. Stewart shared some insights and enlightened us about film locations in Glasgow and places along our journey. Would love to book an Outlander tour next time we're in Scotland. Can I quickly mention I was able to meet and snap a pic with Sam Heughan aka Jamie Fraser in our hotel lobby during the recent Bafta Scotland!?!? He was a true gentlemen. It was surreal and a close second highlight of my trip. The first being taking this tour. Thank you Stewart for taking care on the road and the wonderful memories. I took their four day tour of the Highlands and the Isle of Skye and I cannot say enough good things. To start, their customer service prior to the trip was exceptional. They helped me reserve a room a B&B in Kylelakin that was really terrific (and I thought fairly priced). This being my first trip to Europe and travelling alone, I must have sent three or four "help me get ready" emails and a few "help me with this little picky item" messages during the trip. They were always super responsive and professional. The coach is super comfy and not too big. (I think 15 seats). All that would be just fine but the tour guide, Natalie, was just a gem. She is knowledgeable but more importantly, she is just a pleasure to be around... And that makes ALL of the difference if you are going to have to rely on someone to get you around safely and entertain you for four days. She is a super good driver and she just has a wonderful, sparkling personality.

Disatisfied. Poor management and customer refund policy. Indeed the company didn't judge useful to cancel the tour a couple of days before the trip. ( the weather conditions was very bad the whole week before our tour). Results : on the tour day we couldn't make it to the Loch Ness because of the bad weather conditions, we wasted a day and we wasted our money. We asked for a better compensation but Discover Scotland Tours refused.

Good tour guide. Thanks Cliff. Good way to see the countryside. The bus was very reasonable. Not too bad for a bus. New and clean. The audio when Cliff was talking was crystal clear. When he tried to play music it wasn't working well. But took us to cool places. If you go to Loch Ness and Inverness and decide to not take the boat tour there's a good nature trail you can take instead. We're brisk walkers so we got to do a mile down and a mile back before we had to catch the bus. Worth it.

My wife and I took the Outlander day tour and were very pleased with the whole experience. A new comfortable bus picked us up at our hotel. Our driver/tour guide, Callum was very helpful and friendly. We found him informative and funny. The castles and other stops featured beautiful Scottish scenery. Callum historical information was interesting and appreciated. We got a real view of Scottish life and were happy we choose Discover Scotland Tours !! By the way, there was a disabled young lady in a wheelchair on the tour. Callum went out of his way to help her and make the tour special for her. A very professional and kind young man !! Highly recommend !!!

Standing Stones and Stone Circles of Kilmartin Glen 1 Day Tour

A superb day tour where we’ll take you on a journey through the history of Scotland. Explore one of Scotland’s richest prehistoric landscapes.

From Glasgow we head out of the city towards Loch Lomond. We’ll travel along the western side of the Queen of all Scotland Lochs. Next, we make our way up the mountain pass known as ‘Rest and be Thankful’. We will make a brief stop here at the viewpoint to take pictures.

We’ll have a break in the traditional county town of Inveraray for morning refreshments. Entering the town your driver guide will point out Inveraray Castle, one of Scotland’s most elegant castles.  Inveraray Castle  was also the location for the Downton Abbey Christmas special 2012 episode.

You’ll have time to explore the ancient hill fort at Dunadd. Occupied since the Iron Age, it was once the capital of Dalriada one of the early kingdoms of Gaelic Scotland.

Dunaad fort is also the site where the ancient Kings of Scotland were coronated. Would be Scottish Kings would place one foot in the stone footprint meaning their marriage to the land. It’s believed the first King of the Scots Kenneth MacAlpin who united the kingdoms of Dal Riata and Pictland in 843 was inaugurated at Dunadd.

Around 800 ancient monuments exist within a six mile radius of Kilmartin village. You’ll have around 3 hours to explore this incredibly special place. We recommend starting at the  Kilmartin Museum . Here you’ll find a vast array of ancient artefacts including quartz tools used to make prehistoric rock art.

Not far from the Museum is Kilmartin Parish Church where you’ll find a remarkable collection of early grave slabs. Some of these slabs are of early Christian design and others are medieval. Nether Largie standing stones and Temple Wood are within walking distance from the museum.

Temple Wood’s 13 standing stones is the picturesque setting for the best-preserved stone circle in Kilmartin Glen. The Temple Wood Stone Circle’s use began some time before 3000 BC and continued into the Bronze Age, ending around 1000 BC. A timber ring pre-dated the stone circle you see today by around 2,000 years.

We’ll make the short drive to the rock carvings at Achnabreck. This massive rock outcrop is one of the finest examples of prehistoric rock art in Scotland. The carvings are extensive with spirals and massive multiple ring marks, some stretching a meter across.

On our return journey we’ll make an early evening stop for refreshments before reaching Glasgow where our tour will end.
