  • Gold – 35 days before sailing
  • Silver – 33 days before sailing
  • First-Time Disney Cruisers – 30 days before sailing

What Do I Need to Check in for My Disney Cruise?

If you haven’t downloaded the app, now is the time to do it; you will use it for most things on board. The biggest recommendation is to gather all your documents and take all your pictures BEFORE you start completing the form s. Have any flight and hotel information handy.

Disney Cruise Check in Overview

Guest Information

You will need to provide personal details, including address, contact info & emergency contact. You will need to include a clear image of your passport or proof of citizenship.  Also, you will need a photo/selfie of each guest for your onboard account security photo. The photos must be an image file like a jpg or a png. If you are taking your photos with your iPhone, you will need to export your photos as jpg .

You will need a picture of the photo page of your passport. If you’re using a driver’s license, you will need to have a photo of the front and the back of it .

Disney Cruise Check in Guest Information

If DCL doesn’t accept your passport/proof of citizenship or security photo, they will email you to inform you that a new one is required.

Security Photo Tips

This should be a recent colour photo of you facing forward, from the shoulders up, with no filters . Your face should be fully and clearly visible; please remove eyewear that prevents your eyes from being seen and any items on top of your head . There should be no other people or objects included in the photo . We took ours in front of an empty wall.

Disney Cruise Check in Pending Guest Information

It may take some time for your online check-in to change from pending to approved. Most are approved a few days before the sailing .

Disney cruise Check in Onboard Account

Onboard Account

You will need information on how you plan to pay your stateroom charges. Your credit card or debit card numbers and expiration dates. At this point, it will ask you which members will have charging privileges. If members of your party are paying for their own charges, you can enter their card information. You can not put a dollar limit on charging privileges.

Travelling With Children

Children under 3 years old can be registered for the Nursery if they cruise after October 2022 . If you are sailing before that date, you must sign up for the nursery once you are onboard. You can register kids ages 3-12 for the Oceaneers Club/Lab during check-in. Pre-teens and teens, they will register once you are onboard at the Edge and/or the Vibe.

Travel Plans

You will need information about your plans before & after the cruise. If you are flying in for the cruise, you need your flight details, including Airline, Flight Number, Departure Time, and Arrival Time. Also, you will need your plans to leave the port after the cruise.

Disney Cruise Check in Flight Information

PAT (Port Arrival Time)

This is why you are filling out this information at 12:01 am and not waiting until morning. It is your chance to choose your arrival time at the port.

Most people want to spend as much time on the ship as possible and are trying to get the earliest PAT. On our upcoming cruise, the earliest PAT was 10:45. We took Disney Transfers and received boarding group 3 with a PAT of 11:00 – 11:15. The earliest PATs depend on the port you are sailing out of; some ports have guests arrive later than others. Concierge Guests do not need to select a PAT.

Since Covid, they have been much stricter about arriving at your PAT. If you arrive earlier, you will likely be turned away .

Disney Cruise Check in Cruise Contract

Cruise Contract and Boarding Pass

Read & agree to the cruise contract and print or email the contract. You will be given a Boarding Pass with a QR Code when complete. You can add it to your Apple wallet.

You will need it throughout different stages of the boarding process. It is a good idea to have a printed copy if you encounter any technological problems. The QR code will be used to board the ship because you have not yet received your KTTW cards. Keep reading for details.

Disney Cruise Check-in DCL QR code for Wallet

KTTW (Key to the World) Cards and lanyards will await you at your cabin in your Fish. You will no longer get your card at the desk in the port and use your QR code to board the ship.

Optional Forms

During check-in, you will also find some optional forms. They include authorization to administer an epi-pen , special services form , and authorization for minors travelling without a parent or legal guardian .

Disney Cruise Check-in Optional Forms

Bring your patience; the website can be glitchy, especially when check-in first opens, with many people attempting to check in. If you are using Disney transportation and are not concerned with an early PAT , it might be best to wait and check in later.

Guide to Disney Castaway Club: Membership Levels & Benefits

' src=

Disney Cruise Line (DCL) has a loyalty program called “Castaway Club.” Guests are automatically enrolled after their first cruise. Membership, which is free, gives guests certain benefits and perks at different levels. Those benefits end up turning into incentives to sail more often with DCL because the more you sail the more you get.

But what are the membership levels, how do you cash in on the perks or build up more “points”? Our guide includes everything you need to know about Disney Cruise Line's Castaway Club so you can be the most informed DCL guest possible!

Disclosure: This page has affiliate links, meaning we may earn a small commission if you click the link and proceed with a purchase  at no cost to you . We recommend cruises, experiences, products, and services we personally use. As Amazon Associates, we earn from qualifying purchases.

How to Become a Member of Disney Cruise Line's Castaway Club

Becoming a member is easy. All you have to do is sail on a DCL cruise once. Then you're automatically enrolled in the program for free.

Everyone on your cruise reservation will be enrolled in Castaway Club if it's their first cruise, no matter if it's an adult or child. Your membership numbers are sent to you after your first cruise.

Castaway Club Membership Levels

There are four membership levels with Castaway Club.

  • Silver: 1-4 cruises
  • Gold: 5-9 cruises
  • Platinum: 10-24 cruises
  • Pearl: 25+ cruises

The number of cruises is for completed sailings and does not include upcoming booked sailings.

Important Note about Castaway Club Level Eligibility and Expiration

To maintain your Castaway Club status, you need to sail with Disney Cruise Line within 5 years. This means that you have to have completed the sailing before the five-year mark.

As of December 2023, Disney Cruise Line significantly changed Castaway Club accumulation of cruises and for how long its valid. As indicated on the cruise line's FAQs page , “To remain in the program, Castaway Club Members must book or sail on at least one eligible cruise within 5 years of their last Disney voyage.”

If you click through to the membership agreement for more information, it reads:

Membership in the Program will automatically terminate without notice if Member does not book or complete an eligible DCL cruise within the “Activity Period.” The Activity Period hall mean the five (5) year period after debarkation day of the Member’s last eligible DCL Cruise. However, DCL may (but is not required to) extend the Activity Period and/or continue making Program Benefits available to Member if Member does not book or complete an eligible DCL cruise within their Activity Period; such decisions shall be in DCL’s sole discretion. How to Move Up in Castaway Club Status

The only way to move up in Disney's loyalty program “status” is to sail on more cruises.

Castaway Club Status is Based on Completed Cruises, not Days at Sea

Unlike some other cruise line loyalty programs, status is based on the number of cruises you take, not the number of days at sea. Princess Cruises , for instance, is one such cruise line that rewards guests based on days at sea, not the number of sailings.

If you sail on a 3-night cruise with Disney Cruise Line or a 12-night cruise, both cruises count as one cruise toward your Castaway Club status.

  • One guest who sails on five 3-night cruises reaches Gold status …
  • …in the same amount of time, a guest who sails on five 7-night cruises reaches Gold status.

Finding Your Castaway Club Membership Number

It's likely your Castaway Club number will automatically link to your reservation even if you don't have the number on hand when you book, whether through your preferred Travel Agent or directly through Disney Cruise Line.

Their website may crash, and the system may be slow at times. However, one thing that it does well is link your Castaway Club number to you. The system is smart like that!

It's still wise to have your Castaway Club member number handy and saved for ease of reference.

➜ How to Look Up Your Castaway Club Number on the Disney Cruise Line Website

The easiest way to look up your Castaway Club membership number is by logging into your Disney Cruise Line account . Once logged in, you'll see a top menu bar.

Navigate to: Already Booked ➡︎ Castaway Club under the “My Account” subheading. This is shown in the screenshot below that we marked with yellow arrows:

Screenshot from the Disney Cruise Line website of where to find your Castaway Club membership number.

Another way to get to the same screen is to go to “Cruise with Disney” on the left of the top navigation bar when you are logged into your account. Then choose “Castaway Club.”

What You See on Your Castaway Club Account on DCL's Website

When you log into your account and navigate to “Castaway Club,” as shown above, you'll see some helpful information and infographics.

Under a nice “Welcome Back” message are three things:

The Membership level icon on the left and the right icon with Exclusive Benefits don't link anywhere, but if you scroll down on the page when you are logged in, you will see more information.

Screenshot of what you see when you log into your Disney Cruise Line website account for Castaway Club benefits.

For instance, the “Gold Member Benefits” block on the page looks like the screenshot below. It explains two perks of Gold status, including that you can book new itineraries two days before the general public and that you can reserve cruise activities 105 days prior to sailing.

Disney Cruise Line website screenshot to show Castaway Club Gold Member benefits.

When you scroll down past the above screen, you'll see a section for “My Cruises,” which lists all the cruises you have been on with Disney, the date of the sailing, the ship you were on, and even your stateroom number! As the Disney Cruise Line website states in this section, “Your Castaway Club dashboard reflects your cruise history for all completed sailings.”

Also possible in the “My Cruises” section, when you're logged into your account and viewing your Castaway Club information, is the ability to see your cruise folio (or bill) if you sailed in the past 90 days. After 90 days, the folio hyperlink disappears.

Additional Perks in Your Online Castaway Club Account

Some additional fun perks of being logged into your Castaway Club account on the DCL website are Disney Cruise Line-themed computer wallpapers, some DCL recipes, and a section to download any photos from your recent cruise if you had Disney's photographers capture anything during your sailing. The photos feature is only available 45 days after sailing.

Major Castaway Club Benefits

Disney Cruise Line makes the benefits of each Castaway Club tier clear. Each subsequent tier after Silver adds new perks that include the tier before. That means that Gold perks include Silver's benefits plus some more. Platinum perks include everything that Gold and Silver Castaway Club members get, plus more, etc.

✦ Booking Itineraries Before the General Public

For many people, the perk of being able to book new itineraries even one day before the sailings open to the general public is an exciting perk. This is awarded to Silver members. That means if you have previously completed one sailing with Disney Cruise Line, and a new itinerary is released you want to book, you can do so one day before the general public.

With each level of Castaway Club membership, your ability to book a cruise early increases by one day. So Silver level can book one day before an itinerary is released to the general public. Gold can book two days before, Platinum three days before, and Pearl four days before.

✦ Early Check-In for a Cruise Reservation

Another huge perk of your Castaway Club level is how many days before your cruise you can check-in. For many people, the earliest DCL check-in possible means more time on the ship. Personally, we always aim to get the first boarding groups.

While the first boarding groups usually go to Concierge Level and Pearl or Platinum Castaway Club guests, we've secured a boarding group that gets us onto the ship within the first hour boarding opens, thanks to our Castaway Club Gold status.

✦ Onboard Gifts

Another fun perk of being part of Castaway Club is a gift awaiting your arrival in your stateroom. It's never guaranteed, and you never really know what you are going to get. But that's part of the fun.

This can be anything from a bag to a lanyard. We've been gifted water bottles, backpacks, tote bags, art, and lanyards for our Keys to the World.

All of the gifts below are gifts we received in our stateroom during Disney Cruises as Castaway Club members:

Detailed Castaway Club Perks at Every Level

Castaway Club FAQs

If you have a question about Castaway Club that we have not answered here, please ask in the comments section at the bottom of this post. We love hearing from our readers!

➜ What does Castaway Club cost?

Nothing. The Castaway Club program is Disney Cruise Line's free cruise loyalty program.

➜ I have an upcoming cruise. Why doesn't it count toward the number of cruises in my Castaway Club account?

Disney Cruise Line only counts completed cruises in Castaway Club level totals.

➜ Can someone with a higher Castaway Club level/status reserve activities and dining for everyone on the reservation, even if the other guests on the reservation have a lower Castaway Club level?

Yes. I have Castaway Club level Gold, but Dan has Silver. (We met years after I started to cruise with Disney Cruise Line, so he has to catch up!) I was able to book activities for both of us when things like dining reservations opened to Gold Castaway Club members.

I was also able to check us in together for our Disney Wish cruise when Gold members were able to check in before Silver and first-time cruisers.

➜ How do I know what Castaway Club gift I'll receive on the ship before we sail?

You don't know. That's part of the fun!

Castaway Club gifts change to keep things new and fresh for members. However, if you really want to do some digging, there are several unofficial Disney Cruise Line forums where you can hunt around to see if anyone who has sailed close to your date posted photos of their goodies.

But still, nothing is guaranteed to be the same during your particular cruise.

Where Does the Name “Castaway Club” Come From?

Disney's private island in the Bahamas is called Castaway Cay. We imagine that when they needed a name for their cruise loyalty program, “Castaway Club” came to mind from the island's name.

Castaway Cay's “Cay” is pronounced “Key,” as it is pronounced in the Caribbean .

A Disney Cruise Line Online Check-In Cheat Sheet

5/3/2023   |   Cruises

It’s almost here! You have been dreaming of setting sail on your Disney cruise for months and months, and the time has finally come!

Soon you will be able to complete your online check-in. To keep you from being one of those frustrated sailors in your Facebook group, we are going to prepare you for smooth sailing through the online check-in process by making sure you are armed and ready with everything you need!

Check-In dates vary by your Castaway Cay level or if you are sailing Concierge:

- Pearl / Concierge Level = 40 days prior to sailing - Platinum Level = 38 days prior to sailing - Gold Level = 35 days prior to sailing - Silver Level = 33 days prior to sailing - First time Disney Cruise Line cruisers = 30 days prior to sailing

Before Your Online Check-In Date:

- Confirm the exact spelling and full name of each guest between your Disney Cruise Line reservation and the government-issued identification you will be using for boarding. (Passport, birth certificate, etc.). They must match exactly. - Confirm the expiration date of the government-issued identification you will be using for boarding. - Be sure you have already created your DisneyCruiseLine.com and have linked your cruise reservation(s). - Download the official Disney Cruise Line Navigator app and checked for any updates.

disney cruise line account

- Make sure you have linked any other friends’ or family’s reservations to your reservation so that you are seated together at dinner and can book activities together. - Confirm that you have booked your on-board activities and shore excursions. (The booking window for this also varies depending on your Castaway Club status or if you are sailing in a concierge stateroom. If you are unsure of the date, you can start booking, pull up your reservation on DisneyCruiseLine.com).

You can cancel activities and excursions up until 3 days before your sailing.

Triple check your Online Check-In Date on the app or at DisneyCruiseLine.com. Remember: the check-in time is Midnight Eastern Time on your check-in day. Meaning, if your check-in date is Tuesday April 18, you can start the check-in process at midnight Eastern on Monday night.

Important: Online check-in closes at midnight the day before your cruise. If online check-in is not completed by then, you may be denied boarding.

What to Have Ready at Check-In*:

- A clear photo of each passenger’s passport. Be sure there is no glare and that you can easily read the passport number, name, issue and expiration date, and the photo is clear.

- Passports need to remain valid for a minimum of 6 months after your debarkation date and have at least a few blank pages available. (Requirements can vary by country).

- A clear photo of each passenger. This should be different than the passport photo and should be a solo photo of the guest from the shoulders up. Select a photo that has a plain background.

- Flight information (even if you are not using Disney transportation)

- Pre- and Post-Cruise hotel information

- A credit card to keep on file for onboard purchases

- Name and phone number of an emergency contact not traveling with you

* I recommend having copies of your passports and photos on both your computer and phone in case the website or app is not working for you. This will reduce possible delays in having to transfer the information over while checking in.

At midnight Eastern time on your online check-in date:

Remember: the check-in time is Midnight Eastern Time on your check-in day. Meaning, if your check-in date is Tuesday April 18, you can start the check-in process at midnight Eastern on Monday night.

You will be able to log in to your Disney Cruise Line account (I personally prefer the app), select your sailing, and click on “Begin Check-In.” Click through each step in order. The icons on the right will fill in as each section is completed.

- Guest Information - Onboard Account - Travel Plans - Port Arrival Time

Port Arrival Time (PAT). Most people will select the earliest time available so there is more time to explore the ship before you sail away. You will also be automatically assigned a Boarding Group.

Note: if you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel and have booked the Disney Cruise Line transfer, you will not be asked to select a Port Arrival Time.

- Cruise Contract

Once you have completed your Online Check-In, you will see the message “You’re All Set to Sail!” You can check back periodically before your cruise to ensure your documents have been reviewed by a cast member and your check-in has been upgraded from “Pending” to “Complete.”

Be sure to print out (and you can also add it to your digital wallet on your iPhone) your Port Arrival Form.

disney cruise line account

At the 30 day mark, you will also be able to:

- Book the Princess Gathering. This princess meet-and-greet is included in your cruise fare, but it requires a reservation and is limited due to the popularity. - Purchase a photo package. Purchasing in advance will be the least expensive pricing available. You can opt to purchase once on-board at a higher price. Disney Visa holders get a discount on-board, but the pre-purchase price that is offered to all guests will be the best pricing.

Make sure to add any special requests which is very easy to do directly in the app. This can include things like: high chairs, bedrails and cribs; dietary requests; celebration planning. This should be done at least 5 weeks prior to your sail date. Additional requests for food allergies and accessibility assistance/medical equipment can be requested on the Special Services Form.

Website Glitches:

Remember: technology is not perfect. If you are getting an error message in the app, try the website. If you are getting an error on the website, try the app. If neither works, try an incognito browser/window on your device.

Disney Cruise Line can be reached at 800-951-3532, or contact your Me and The Mouse Travel Specialist. (Please note - Disney Cruise Line will not answer specific questions regarding your reservation or make any changes for you if you are booked with a travel agent).

Special Situations:

- What if we have multiple staterooms to check in?

If you have several staterooms to check in, you can opt to have each stateroom have their own account and try to coordinate as best you can with Port Arrival Times.

Alternatively, you can link the reservations to one account so that one person can be responsible for checking everyone in. That person would need to have all the information ready for each stateroom. They will still need to toggle between each reservation.

With either method, you likely will not get the same PAT. If this is the case, you can all arrive at the latest PAT time to board together.

- What if we do not have passports or are traveling on Visas?

For complete details on proper documentation for sailing on a Disney cruise, please refer to the official Disney Cruise Line website .

I strongly, strongly urge you to have a valid passport for everyone in your traveling party in case of emergency.

Just a few weeks to go!

Now that you're checked in, you can make a packing list, start putting your vacation essentials together, place your travel documents/Port Arrival Form/passports in a folder in a safe place, and look forward to stepping on board your Disney cruise!

They don’t call it the Disney DREAM for nothin’…

disney cruise line account

The Disney Dream was the third ship to join the ever-expanding Disney Cruise Line fleet. (Seriously… have you heard that the NEW Disney Destiny was just announced ??) The Disney Dream introduced a new class of ships to the line — the Dream Class, of course! And if it’s YOUR dream to sail on this magical ship, then we hope you’ll join us as we explore everything you and your traveling crew need to know about cruising on the Disney Dream!

Disney Dream Overview

The Disney Dream took its Maiden Voyage with passengers on January 26, 2011. The Disney Fantasy, which followed with its first sailing in 2012, is the sister ship to the Disney Dream.

disney cruise line account

So, in both its size and structure (with 14 Decks and 1,250 Staterooms) and passenger capacity (a whopping 4,000!), it is similar to the Disney Fantasy. That said, each ship boasts some of their own distinguishing features.

disney cruise line account

These start right in the ship’s Art deco-inspired Atrium, where a golden statue of Admiral Donald Duck himself welcomes you aboard!

Of course, among additional varied features, the ship’s itineraries differ as well…

Disney Dream Destinations

The Disney Dream primarily offers Bahamian cruises departing from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida .

disney cruise line account

However, the summer of 2024 holds something very unique in store for passengers on the Dream, as the ship is destined for Europe following a Transatlantic voyage from Fort Lauderdale to Barcelona ! Sailings over the summer include Mediterranean (including the Greek Isles), British Isles, Western Europe, and Norwegian Fjords (with one sailing including Iceland) cruises.

disney cruise line account

When the Dream returns stateside, she’ll depart again from Fort Lauderdale to offer Bahamian and Caribbean cruises, and select sailings will include a stop at Disney Cruise Line’s NEW island destination, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point (and, of course, Disney Cruise Line’s beloved Castaway Cay )!

Check out Disney Cruise Line’s itineraries for Summer 2025 here!

Disney dream entertainment.

Unique Disney Cruise Line entertainment kicks things off RIGHT AWAY as your cruise starts with a Sailing Away Deck Party!

disney cruise line account

When I say “unique” that’s because the pals joining you in the entertainment throughout the voyage are none other than Disney characters!

Select sailings also present Disney Cruise Line’s famous Pirate Night (complete with FIREWORKS at sea!). And don’t forget: your CREW is invited to don all the Pirate-y garb you can pack in yer suitcase, matey!

disney cruise line account

When it comes to entertainment options, Disney Cruise Line is best known for its Broadway-style productions — presented in the Walt Disney Theatre — that tie in characters, beloved stories, and treasured music from the Disney films.

disney cruise line account

The three shows that guests can enjoy on the Disney Dream are Beauty and the Beast , The Golden Mickeys, and Disney’s Believe.

Currently exclusive to the Disney Dream, Beauty and the Beast brings the “Tale As Old As Time” to you live on stage!

disney cruise line account

In addition to seeing the characters and hearing the songs you already know and love from the animated film, this production also includes two new pieces written by Alan Menken and Tim Rice from the live-action film.

While Beauty and the Beast puts the focus on one Disney film, Disney’s Believe and The Golden Mickeys bring together oodles and oodles of Disney stories, characters, and signature songs!  In Disney’s Believe , which Disney shares is a “spellbinding musical about a workaholic father who reconnects with his daughter through a little Disney magic,” you’ll see familiar friends from Peter Pan, Aladdin, Cinderella, The Lion King , and The Princess and the Frog.

disney cruise line account

The Golden Mickeys is “a dazzling tribute to the enchanting movies of Walt Disney” (and it includes a red carpet pre-show!). Featured Disney films include — but aren’t limited to — Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Mulan, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Toy Story 2.

P.S. You can pay a visit to Preludes before the show to pick up some popcorn (or perhaps a cocktail) to enjoy in the theatre!

Disney Dream Water Features

Passengers of all ages can make a BIG SPLASH on Deck 11 (and even a bit higher…) of the Disney Dream! Let’s start with that part that’s “a bit higher…”

We’re talking about the Aqua Duck , the water coaster that made its debut on the Dream!

disney cruise line account

To ride, guests enter on Deck 12. From here? As the Disney Cruise Line website shares, you’ll take a 2-person raft on “a wet and wild journey up, down, around and off the side of the ship, through the Forward Funnel—on a daredevil 4-deck drop.”

Be aware, though, that there is a height requirement of 42 inches or taller to ride (and single riders must be at least 54 inches).

Water areas for all ages include Donald’s Pool on Deck 11, as well as a wading pool on Deck 12.

Specifically for the kiddos is Mickey’s Pool , and Nemo’s Reef in particular is a splash area for those 8 and under.

disney cruise line account

Mickeys Slide , however, can be enjoyed by passengers ages 4 to 14.

The Quiet Cove Pool is reserved for guests over 18 years of age only, as is the Satellite Falls wading pool, complete with a cooling rain curtain. In the same area, adult guests can enjoy a cocktail at the Currents pool bar (the Waves bar is another option), or step inside the Cove Café for a specialty coffee.

Disney Dream Staterooms

The Disney Dream offers four categories of staterooms: Inside, Oceanview, Verandah, and Concierge. Many of the rooms feature Disney’s innovative split bathroom which allows more guests in a cabin the chance to get ready at one time.

disney cruise line account

While each category boasts amenities such as premium mattresses and linens, a 22″ LCD flat-screen TV, a refrigerator, and a surprising amount of storage space, there are many more details to explore among the varying categories, so we’ve dedicated a page to those options here .

As with all the other ships in the fleet, the Disney Dream presents a wide array of options, starting with a Disney Cruise Line signature: Rotational Dining!

disney cruise line account

Rotational Dining means that guests have the chance to enjoy dinner at ALL THREE of the ships main dining rooms, each with their own theme and specialty menus on select nights. The best part is that, as you move to a different restaurant each evening, so do your servers! They “rotate” right along with you so they can get to know your group’s dining preferences.

disney cruise line account

The three Rotational Dining restaurants on the Disney Dream are Animator’s Palate, Enchanted Garden , and Royal Palace.

Animator’s Palate is an innovative restaurant where the show is drawings coming to life on screens all around you. Undersea Magic immerses diners in the world of  Finding Nemo .

disney cruise line account

Dinner at the Royal Palace features French and continental cuisine in the opulence of the classic Disney fairytales Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast.

disney cruise line account

At Enchanted Garden, guests enjoy their meal as the restaurant changes as flowers bloom and the “sky” fades from day to night.

disney cruise line account

Be aware that Royal Palace and Enchanted Garden may also serve breakfast and lunch during a sailing, offering guests a full service option if they prefer not to dine buffet or quick service style.

A number of options are available throughout the day, as well. Cabanas hosts a massive buffet for both breakfast and lunch. Help yourself!

disney cruise line account

Also on Deck 11, several Quick Service options serve classics like burgers, hot dogs, chicken strips and fries, pizza, and healthier fare like salads and sandwiches. These are all available at Flo’s Cafe , which is divided into three different stations: Luigi’s Pizza, Tow Mater’s Grill, and Fillmore’s Favorites.

disney cruise line account

P.S. Don’t forget to follow up any and all of that with some soft-serve ice cream at Eye Scream Treats!

Additional treats — including scoops from a Gelato Bar —  are available for extra purchase at Vanellope’s Sweets & Treats , a charming spot themed to Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph .

disney cruise line account

And did you know that ROOM SERVICE is available for breakfast or snacks 24 HOURS A DAY??  The vast majority of items are INCLUDED in the cruise price!

Disney Dream Adult Spaces

In addition to the Quiet Cove mentioned earlier, the Disney Dream offers more areas reserved just for grown-ups. These include the fine dining restaurant, Palo , which may be booked for dinner for an additional charge per adult.

disney cruise line account

Additionally, the famous Palo Brunch is available for booking during sea days! This option is incredibly popular, so advance booking through your Disney Cruise Line account is recommended.

disney cruise line account

Be aware, as well, that Palo does have a dress code. The Disney Cruise Line website states: “Formal or semi-formal attire is recommended. Also permitted is dress-casual attire with a polished look, such as dress pants, jeans in good condition, collared shirts, dressy tops and lifestyle shoes. For brunch at Palo and Palo Steakhouse, dress shorts are acceptable. Clothing such as T-shirts, swimwear and sports attire are not permitted.”

The Disney Dream is also home to Remy, another adults only option that adheres to a slightly more strict dress code than Palo: Jackets for men (or collared shirt for brunch) are required and no jeans, shorts, capri pants, sneakers, or open toed shoes.

disney cruise line account

The cuisine is exceptional French fare and reservations are required.

By the way, before or after your special meal, you might stop at Meridian , a lounge overlooking the back of the ship!

Ready to relax with a drink, or maybe even do a little dancing? Adults can pay a visit to The District , featuring several lounges, each with their own distinct style and atmosphere. District Lounge , for instance, is a relaxing piano bar, while Evolution presents late-night entertainment like dancing, games, karaoke, and comedy shows.

disney cruise line account

Pink is a Wine and Champagne Bar, while Skyline Lounge immerses you in a “sleek sky bar” boasting views of some of the world’s most iconic skylines!

disney cruise line account

Meanwhile, sports fans can catch a game at Pub 687.

Adults might also opt to participate in a Mixology Class or Beverage Tasting Seminar for an extra fee. Featured liqueur and cocktail options include — but aren’t limited to — rum, tequila and margaritas, whiskey, champagne tastings, and more!

disney cruise line account

Advance booking is highly recommended for these fun and VERY popular opportunities!

The Senses Spa & Salon offers a wide array of services and treatments. (And the Rainforest Room provides an especially relaxing oasis!) Select experiences are available for pre-booking, and you can stop by Senses to inquire about prices for the Rainforest Room and other treatments during your cruise. And the Fitness Center offers workout machines and classes.

And though this is not limited to adults, keep in mind that if you’d like to get a jog or two in, Deck 4 hosts a walking track!

Disney Dream Kids Clubs and Experiences

But what about the kids? Oh, don’t you worry… there are specific areas on the ship dedicated to children, offering experiences tailored for ages from infants to teens!

The It’s a Small World Nursery is available for ages 6 months to 3 years old (save for the Transatlantic cruise, during which the nursery welcomes ages 1 to 3 years old).

disney cruise line account

Be aware that the Disney Cruise Line website states that “Reservations can be made on a first-come, first-served basis during the open house on Embarkation Day or anytime throughout your cruise. Childcare at “it’s a small world” nursery! is available at an additional fee.” Disney also emphasizes that space is limited.

Meanwhile, Disney’s Oceaneer Club AND Disney’s Oceaneer Lab are available for children ages 3 to 10. The Oceaneer Lab specializes in learning while having FUN!

disney cruise line account

The Oceaneer Club features activities such as character experiences, storytime, and play areas. (There are also specific guided activities for the littlest ones, ages 3 and 4.)

disney cruise line account

On the Dream, the Oceaneer Club features the following playful spaces: Andy’s Room (that’s Andy from Toy Story ), the Disney Infinity Game Room, Pixie Hollow , and Star Wars : Millennium Falcon.

disney cruise line account

Keep in mind that Youth Activities counselors are present at all times in these spaces. Parents will want to know that spaces for your child can be pre-registered via your Disney Cruise Line account, and registration may also take place onboard the ship.

Tweens (ages 11 to 14) can gather at the Edge to hang out, watch movies, play games and make friends during group activities with fun Disney counselors and more. And you want to know something really cool? Edge is located in the ship’s Forward Funnel on Deck 13!

disney cruise line account

Vibe offers cruisers ages 14 to 17 similar activities geared to their age group, or simply a place to chill. It even boasts its own sun deck on the Dream.

We’ve got one more thing to mention, though it’s not a club, per se. For an extra fee, your little Prince or Princess age 3 to 12 can get a makeover at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique .

disney cruise line account

Disney Princess, knight, and sea captain-themed packages are available… and there’s an exclusive makeover for Pirate Party Nights!

But we’re STILL not done… because children ages 3-12 can partake in a special tea party with Disney characters. Children get gifts including a jewelry box, tiara, bracelet, necklace, a Cinderella doll, and autograph book. Alternatively they can opt for a package including a cinch bag, sword, shield, pins, Duffy plush, and autograph book. The Disney Cruise Line site will have pricing information available when you book via your Disney Cruise Line account in advance.

Disney Dream Activities

Still want MORE to do 😉 ? That’s good, because the Disney Dream has GOT MORE! D Lounge, for example, is the place to be for family fun with events like game shows and trivia, dance parties,  and more.

disney cruise line account

Catch a movie on the big screen at the Buena Vista Theatre ! You might choose to watch a Disney animated classic, or maybe a Star Wars or Marvel flick. You never know… your sailing just might feature a first-run Disney feature film at sea! “Funnel Vision” on the pool deck shows movies on the big screen, too.

disney cruise line account

You can find basketball courts and ping-pong tables on Goofy’s Sports Deck. (My personal favorite option here? It’s 9-hole MINI GOLF!)

Want to explore all sorts of areas on the ship while SOLVING A MYSTERY, to boot? Then get ready to play Midship Detective Agency.  You and your fellow detectives will interact with “enchanted art” in locations all over the ship to gather clues and crack a case wide open! In fact, there are 3 cases to solve (including, but not limited to a MUPPETS-themed caper), so you can play several times — on your own or with your crew — if you like!

disney cruise line account

And let’s not forget that throughout your cruise, you can meet, hug, get autographs from and pose for pictures with your favorite DISNEY PALS!

disney cruise line account

Sailing with you are the Fab Five (that’s Mickey and the gang), Disney Princesses, friends from Frozen , and more! Be aware that, while all Character Greetings are included with your cruise, select Greeting times may require advance booking.

Seasonal Sailings

Depending on the time of year, you may find that a special seasonal cruise is in store! For instance, select sailings on the Dream offer a Marvel Day at Sea !

disney cruise line account

And all ships in the fleet present Halloween on the High Seas in September and October, while Very Merrytime Cruises sail in November and December.

Disney Cruise Line Navigator App

Whew! As you can tell, there’s a LOT happening on the Disney Dream! To keep track of what’s happening when and where, be sure to download the free Disney Cruise Line Navigator app before your cruise.

disney cruise line account

This is where you can easily find ALL of the activities mentioned throughout this post, book select experiences, check out menus for the ship’s dining locations, and MUCH more!

Understanding Disney Cruise Line Gratuities: A Complete Guide

Understanding the gratuity system is an essential part of planning your Disney Cruise Line vacation. You'll learn about automatic gratuities, recommended extra tips, and how to give thanks to your servers and room host.

Disney Cruise Line recommends gratuities of $14.50 per person, per night for guests in non-concierge staterooms. Concierge guests are recommended to tip $15.50 per person, per night, which is automatically added to the onboard account.

Tipping Customs

  • Gratuities are an integral part of the service culture on Disney Cruise Line.
  • Guests can adjust automatic gratuity charges to match their service experience.
  • Pre-payment of gratuities is an available option for added convenience.

disney cruise line account

On this page:

Details of disney cruise line gratuities, understanding gratuities on disney cruise line, how to pre-pay gratuities, gratuities for special services, additional gratuities and tipping etiquette, managing gratuities while onboard, frequently asked questions about gratuities.

Understanding the gratuity system on a Disney Cruise Line can ensure that you are prepared for the additional costs that will be added to your onboard account and also helps you appreciate the crew members who provide you with exceptional service.

Automatic vs. Manual Gratuity

Automatic gratuities are charges that Disney Cruise Line adds to your onboard account for certain services during your cruise. This convenience means you don't have to worry about tipping individual crew members.

  • Manual gratuity , on the other hand, is at your discretion. You may give additional tips in cash for exemplary service or for services outside the standard gratuity schedule, such as room service.

Service Charges Per Day

Disney Cruise Line recommends a standard gratuity rate per person, per night . These gratuities cover most of the service staff that directly assist you.

  • Recommended gratuity amounts :

Gratuities for Different Services

Specific crew members are recognized through Disney Cruise Line's gratuity system, ensuring that those who contribute directly to your experience are adequately compensated.

Included services :

  • Your stateroom host or hostess maintains your room.
  • Dining room servers and assistant servers care for your mealtime needs.

For services like room service , an additional gratuity is appreciated, though not automatically included.

Remember, these gratuities on Disney Cruise Line are shared among the crew members to acknowledge their hard work and dedication to making your cruise a memorable one.

Gratuities are an important aspect of your Disney Cruise experience, appreciated by the crew members for the outstanding service they provide.

The Role of Gratuities

Gratuities on Disney Cruise Line are a way for you to thank your crew for their exceptional service throughout your voyage. These tips are distributed among various crew members, including your dining room server, assistant server, head server , and stateroom host .

Gratuity Guidelines

Disney Cruise recommends a gratuity amount of $14.50 USD per night, per guest . This amount is shared between the crew members who directly contribute to making your stay comfortable and memorable. You have the option to pre-pay these gratuities, ensuring a seamless end to your magical journey. For your convenience, here are the suggested daily gratuity amounts:

  • Dining room server : $4.50 per guest
  • Dining room assistant server : $3.50 per guest
  • Dining room head server : $1.00 per guest
  • Stateroom host : $4.50 per guest

By understanding and adhering to these guidelines, you help maintain the high standard of service and dedication from the Disney Cruise crew members you'll encounter on your voyage.

When planning your Disney Cruise, you can opt for an all-inclusive experience by pre-paying gratuities. This convenient option helps you budget ahead and enjoy your vacation without worrying about end-of-cruise charges.

Benefits of Pre-Paying

  • No End-of-Cruise Surprises : Pre-pay your gratuities to avoid unexpected charges on your final bill.
  • Streamline Your Budget : Knowing all costs upfront makes it easier to plan your cruise budget.

Pre-Paying Process

To pre-pay gratuities for your Disney cruise, simply follow these steps:

Access Your Account :

  • Log in to your Disney Cruise Line account online.

Navigate to Reservations :

  • Choose the My Reservations section.

Follow Pre-Pay Instructions :

  • Select the option for Pre-Paid Gratuities and follow the necessary steps to complete payment.

Contact Your Travel Agent (if applicable):

  • If you booked through a travel agent, request their assistance to pre-pay gratuities on your behalf.

By pre-paying, you ensure a seamless and carefree experience as you sail with Disney.

When sailing with Disney Cruise Line, apart from the standard gratuities, you may encounter various special services that require additional tipping. These include Concierge Level amenities and exclusive experiences such as Spa treatments and specialty dining options.

Concierge Level Services

Your experience with the Concierge Lounge Team can be further enhanced through discretionary tipping. Gratuities for the Concierge team are not included in the prepaid gratuity costs or the standard service fees. When you receive personalized assistance beyond the general concierge offerings, consider acknowledging their exceptional service with a tip.

  • Recommendation : Follow your discretion based on the level of service provided

Spa and Exclusive Dining

For appointments at the onboard Spa , gratuity is typically not included in the price of the service. It’s customary to tip the spa therapist if you feel satisfied with the service received.

  • Spa Gratuity Suggestion : 18-20% of the service fee

Exclusive dining experiences like Remy and Palo also invite additional gratuities for the premium service they offer. These tips can be added to your bill at the end of the meal.

  • Palo : $5-10 per person
  • Remy : $15-25 per person

When booking Port Adventures , the gratuities for tour operators and guides are not included and should be given based on the quality of the excursion experience.

  • Tip : Bring small bills for convenient tipping during shore excursions

Remember, these gratuities are a means to show your appreciation for the dedication and hard work of the crew and staff who ensure your cruise experience is memorable.

While cruising with Disney, you may encounter moments where the exceptional service you receive goes above and beyond what you anticipated. Knowing how and when to reward such service is an important aspect of your cruise experience.

Rewarding Exceptional Service

When you experience service that delights and surprises, offering an additional gratuity is a customary way to show appreciation. Disney Cruise Line automatically adds standard gratuities to your account, but unique circumstances often merit extra recognition. Whether it's your stateroom host going the extra mile to celebrate a special event you're having on board or a particularly memorable dining service, consider handing over an envelope with a little extra to express your gratitude.

Typical additional gratuities:

  • Stateroom host: $1-$2 extra per night
  • Dining Team: 10-15% of your dining bill
  • Exceptional personal service: Discretionary

It's important to remember that these additional tips are entirely at your discretion and should reflect your personal experience and satisfaction with the service provided.

Calculator and Tools

Calculating your tipping can be quite straightforward with the help of a gratuity calculator. These tools will help you estimate the standard gratuities covered on your Disney Cruise and assist in understanding what additional charges might be appropriate for those exceptional service providers.

Here is how to use these tools effectively:

  • Enter the number of nights of your cruise.
  • Add the number of people in your party.
  • Review the standard gratuity amounts provided.
  • Adjust the figures to account for any exceptional service you wish to reward.

By using a gratuity calculator, you ensure that no member of the cruise staff is overlooked and that your additional gratuities are fair and proportionate to the service received.

When you’re on a Disney cruise, understanding how to manage gratuities for the exceptional service received is crucial. Gratuities are a way to thank the crew for their hard work, and Disney Cruise Line makes it convenient for you to handle this aspect of your trip.

Adjustments and Disputes

If you feel the service on your cruise either surpassed expectations or fell short, you can speak to Guest Services to make adjustments to gratuity amounts. It's essential that you review your gratuities before the end of the cruise to ensure that any changes are processed in time.

  • To increase gratuities: Simply inform Guest Services, and they’ll update your onboard account accordingly.
  • To decrease gratuities: Discuss your concerns with Guest Services. They can assist with any disputes and modify the gratuities if necessary.

Tracking Expenses

Throughout your cruise, it's easy to oversee the gratuities added to your onboard account. You’ll receive a breakdown of suggested gratuity amounts, which are typically charged per person, per day.

  • Stateroom Guest Receipts: Detailed receipts will be provided to you, displaying the suggested gratuities and any you've elected to adjust.
  • Onboard Account Access: Check your current expenses, including gratuities, at any time using the Disney Cruise Line app or the in-room television system.

Keeping track of these expenses helps you manage your budget and ensures that the crew members who contribute to your cruise experience are duly recognized.

When planning your Disney Cruise adventure, understanding the gratuity policies is essential to ensure you're prepared for the customary tipping practices and budget accordingly.

Common Concerns

How much should you tip on a Disney Cruise? Tipping is an integral part of the Disney Cruise experience, to acknowledge the exceptional service during your voyage. You're expected to tip various members of the ship's staff, including your dining room server, head server, and others. As of the current guidelines, the customary amount is around $14.50 per person per day , which can be prepaid or charged to your onboard account.

Methods of Payment How can you pay for gratuities on board? You have the flexibility to pre-pay gratuities before your cruise, allow them to be automatically added to your onboard account, or distribute them in cash using individual envelopes. Whichever method you choose, Disney Cruise Line makes it convenient for you to provide gratuities.

Myths and Misconceptions

Assumption: Gratuities are included in the Disney Cruise package. A common myth is that gratuities are included in the cruise fare. It's important to know that while Disney Cruise Line offers an abundance of services and amenities, gratuities are not included in your initial payment. They are separate charges meant to reward the crew for their hard work and dedication.

Do you need to tip for all ages? Many passengers wonder whether they need to include tips for every family member. Yes, Disney Cruise Line recommends tipping for each person, regardless of age, to account for the extensive service everyone enjoys. This ensures that all members of the service team are appropriately recognized for their efforts.

Someone might be able to give you more up to date info. Here is what I know; they don't pre-authorize an amount, debit should be treated as cc, and you can pay with cash.

maria-fan-22

maria-fan-22

Dis veteran.

Thank you for the info so far - anyone else have additional feedback for me?

I have never had an experience that they put a hold on my cc or dc so I'll have to believe that they do not pre-authorize or hold any funds. If you choose not to swipe a credit card at check-in, you have to establish a cash account with them. I think the amount you have to give them may vary with the length of the cruise but minimum is $200. If you do this, you will be notified when you have used up this amount and have to make a trip to Guest Services to add more cash to your account. If you have unused cash on your account, you can make a trip to GS at the end of your cruise to settle up your account. If you have a cc on your account and want to settle with cash, you can just go to GS to make payments. But do know that they do make charges to your cc throughout the cruise when your balance hits a certain level. This does vary by the length of the cruise. I think on cruises less than 7 days it is $200, over 7 days it is $400. They can probably reverse the charges if they already processed one and you want to pay cash but I think it is easier to handle it before they put through the charge. And one other note, if you book DCL excursions they are charged to your account on day one. So you may have a balance as soon as you step on the ship.

The idea of keeping either a CC or DC on file with a cruise line is that you do not use any kind of money on ship. Everything is "charged" so to speak. If you do not want to use the CC or DC, you can put a cash deposit on your account. The minimum is $200 and you can put any amount over that down to use on you on-ship account. If you go over--you have to make up that difference with either more cash, DC or CC on the last night of the cruise. The same goes for any DC or CC not authorized. All settlements are made at the last night of the cruise. You can check your account anytime by going to the Guest Services desk and asking for a print out. If you have put cash down and have not gone over that total, then you will get a check during the last night. Be aware that the cruise ship will not send the amount on the CC or DC until the last day of the cruise. So, don't go overboard during the ports of call and cannot pay for the balance. The cruise line wants their money.

You can add cash at anytime at guest services, but I would be careful using debit cards. I am not sure if DCL has changed their way of taking them, but alot more hotels are putting large holds on debit cards because they are getting burned at the end fo a stay (people use them while on a trip and money no longer there). I travel with work and there are a few chains that now put a $500 - $1,000 hold on the debit cards when you check in no matter the length of stay. Some of the hotels I frequent and know the workers and just in conversation they say it takes between 15 minutes and 7 days for the hold to be released, depending on several factors, which none of them seem to know the rhyme or reason. Just an FYI for all travel, but a be careful on DCL because Disney cruise , park, any of the above is not the place to not have access to your money!

DL1957

On the longer cruises depending upon the cost of your shore excursions and other charges they may charge an amount to your card. On our recent cruise to the Baltic which was 12 days there was a charge against our cc at about day 6 of the cruise. This also happened on our Med cruise and the PC cruise. You can always check with guest services during your trip.

We always use our Disney Visa so we can rack up more reward dollars for future Disney trips! You can actually check in with Guest Services everyday to keep up with your expenses. On our last cruise they called our stateroom and to let us know that an $80 tab had been run up in the arcade in the first 24 hours....they justed wanted to make sure we were aware of this! Our kid had gone crazy in the arcade with his new found friends, so we had to have a quick discussion about spending habits or we threatened to cut him off!

As Far as I know DCL only charges your card when your sate room account reaches a certain amount.

The ship runs on a "cash free" system where everything you purchase on board is "charged" to your KTTW card. Thus, each person needs to have a method set up in advance or at check in designating how they will be paying off the KTTW card. The only exception is that you can designate a child as not having charging, in which case they do not need an account. Your account can be set up using a credit or debit card or cash. If using a card, the account will be billed to the credit card company each time the charging gets to a set amount; as of September it was $400 for cruises of 7 nights or more. If you want to avoid any charged to your card, you would need to go to Guest Services before your total reaches that amount and pay it off with cash or a check. They do not place any hold on a credit or debit card; they just bill it at the $400 mark. If you wish to set up a cash account, they will ask for a $200 deposit. If the account hits this amount, you will get a notice in your stateroom that you need to go to GS and add more money to the account. DO note that an account is "per person," not "per stateroom" unless you specify at check in that other people are allowed to charge to your account. Each KTTW card can be tied to the same pay source/method if you wish (for instance, I specify that I am responsible for my teen daughter's account) or each KTTW can be tied to a different payment method--again, we once cruised with 5 teens; I specified that I was responsible for my daughter's KTTW account, each of the other teens had their own account with their own payment status. You can pay off/add money to your account at Guest Services at any time during the cruise using cash, traveler's checks, or a personal check. Any "overage" that you have left can be refunded on the last evening or morning; however there are long lines at this time. It is FAR easier to put a credit or debit card on your account even if you plan a "pay as you go" approach to cover that pesky $2.96 (or whatever your balance is! ) than to stand in the line on the last day. My last paragraph disappeared! Ok, the order that DCL will apply to your charges--first they will spend down any onboard credit you may have, then any Disney reward dollars you may have applied, then any cash, and finally bill your credit/debit card at the $400 mark or at the end of the cruise. The $400 was accurate as of September; as per above post it may have been increased to $500 now.

Have they recently changed it so that you can pay for onboard purchase with your own credit card, or could you always do that (and I'm just oblivious!). My boyfriend did this by accident in Treasure Ketch - the CM never said anything and ran it through. When we were checking our account later that week, I noticed two charges missing. My boyfriend said that he had used his own credit card. I always thought that the ship preferred you use the KTTW card to make everything easier - guess I learned something new!

kcashner said: This is brand new if it exists. As of September, everything went on the KTTW card (they could not take a regular credit card). There is a way to make exceptions for large purchases in Treasure Ketch or the art auction, so perhaps a CM made a mistake and took the credit card? Normally the "exceptions" which allow a guest to use a different card or payment method require the action of a supervisor. Click to expand...
