Disney Wish Itineraries

Disney wish review, review of disney wish.

The 2021-built/2022-inaugurated DCL Disney Wish cruise ship is The Walt Disney Company's newest and the first in a series of all three newbuilds . The Disney ship Wish was originally scheduled for launch in 2021-Q4 (inauguration by Christmas 2021) and to start passenger shipping operations in January 2022. However, due to COVID-related issues (shipbuilding yard closures, supply chain disruptions), the liner's introduction was postponed for 2022-Q2 (July).

MS Disney Wish is DCL fleet 's 5th vessel. The other two units from this series (TRITON-class sisterships) are with postponed launches and deliveries currently scheduled for 2024 ( Disney Treasure ) and 2025 ( Disney Destiny ).

The TRITON-class is very similar (as size and capacity) to the sisterships Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy .

DCL's new boats are originally planned for year-round deployed in the Caribbean and Florida-homeported - in PortMiami (Destiny) and Port Canaveral (Wish, Treasure).

Like all DCL ships, the Disney Wish vessel (IMO 9834739) is currently Bahamas- flagged (MMSI 311001098) and registered in Nassau .

History - construction and ownership

DCL-Disney Cruise Line is a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company (shipowner). The company was incorporated in 1996 as "Magical Cruise Company Ltd". Walt Disney also owns the Bahamian private island Castaway Cay (exclusive port of call - for Disney ships only), an exclusive Cruise Terminal at Port Canaveral (Orlando) Florida USA  and the exclusive Lighthouse Point (privately-developed cruise resort complex on Eleuthera Island, Bahamas). Disney cruises are marketed as "family vacations" and feature unique and exclusive activities, such as costumed Disney Characters, adults-only deck areas, dedicated facilities for teens, kids and infants-toddlers, signature (trademarked) shipboard facilities and activities, themed live entertainment.

MS Disney Triton cruise ship

In early-March 2016, Walt Disney announced plans to build three new liners (the company's largest) and in July 2017 signed a 3-unit shipbuilding agreement with Meyer Werft Gmbh (Germany). Triton-Class vessel's interior design, facilities and cruise itineraries are still a well-protected secret. What is known so far is that they will be LNG-powered (by liquefied natural gas), gross tonnage 144,000 GT tons (larger than the originally announced 135,000 GT) and passenger capacity 2500 (1250 staterooms). This design is only slightly larger than the previous Disney Dream-Class.

The 3500-passenger ship Disney Wish is no exception with its primary market being families with small children (especially with kids younger than 8) - the major revenue provider for The Walt Disney Company. The vessel features some of the most innovative technologies and "best fun" ideas at sea, including:

  • pieces of "Enchanted Art" adorning the walls of hallways - paintings and pictures that are actually framed LCD screens with a technology to recognize guests present and proceeding with one of several animations;
  • wave phones in every stateroom (used to call or text other guests) and effectively replacing the old onboard beeper system (now the counselors' messages come directly to the parents' phones);
  • the Magical Portholes on the walls of all Inside cabins (LED screens showing real-time outside views).

The company's clientele consists almost entirely of North American travelers (USA and Canada). Disney's new approach to teens and young couples features age-related activities and limited access to shipboard venues, adding a really strong appeal for multi-generational cruisers.

Ship's dress code is similar to Disney's luxury resorts - daily casual and evening resort casual - men with jackets (no ties) and pants, women - with summer dresses (optional gowns). All Disney Triton-Class ship cruise itineraries include one "pirate night" and one semi-formal night. On 3-day cruises, one night is casual, 4-days are with 2 casual evenings, on 5-days and longer - 3 nights are casual.

DCL's shipboard gratuities are now USD 14.50 per person per day (US$15.50 per Suite guest daily). Tips are generally given to waiting staff (including assistant waiters) and cabin attendants/stewards. Additionally, a 15% gratuity on all beverages is automatically charged to the passenger's shipboard account.

Decks and Cabins

MS Disney Wish staterooms (1238 total, in 26 grades) are mainly midship-located Balconies. All cabins and suites are well planned and equipped with the travel industry's latest amenities. Like on all Disney ships, passenger staterooms by sizes are ranked among the industry's largest standard cabins, designed to easily accommodate four people. Cabins are with ample storage space, lounge/living area and split bathrooms (1 room with shower-bathtub-sink-WC, and separate toilet-sink). Beds on are raised to allow underbed storage for 2 medium-sized suitcases. Each cabin has as standard amenities 2 mirrored vanities with chairs, 22-inch smart HDTV (satellite reception, infotainment system), iPod docking station, 2 rechargeable "Wave Phones" (for shipwide use).

The boat has 15 passenger-accessible decks , of which 10 are with cabins. There are a total of 35x wheelchair-accessible cabins for passengers with disabilities or reduced mobility.

DCL's innovative Inside Cabin features (industry's first) "Magical Portholes" - large, round-shaped LCD screens (positioned above the beds) projecting real-time outside views provided by the ship's cameras. Veranda Cabin's balcony is fitted with 2 deckchairs and a low table.

Concierge Suites and Concierge Family Cabins offer direct access to the ship's concierge-served facilities (1 small lounge, private sundeck area with chairs, free food and drinks). Most 1-Bedroom Suites are with connecting doors, Queen bed (convertible to twins), sitting/lounge area with double sofabed, 1 pull-down bed (in the living room), walk-in closet, 2 bathrooms (one with a whirlpool hot-tub).

One of the largest accommodations are the Royal Suites, featuring a separate living room, wet bar, kitchenette (small cooking/dining area), media library, outdoor/balcony Jacuzzi.

The "Wish Tower Suite" is the DCL's (and the industry's) first-of-its-kind loft suite located in the ship's forward funnel (smokestack).

The unique accommodation is sized 1965 ft2 (183 m2), with max capacity 8 passengers, and interior design themed on Walt Disney's 3D animation film "Moana" (2016). The Wish Tower Suite features 2x master bedrooms, 4x full bathrooms, half-bath (powder room), library (converting to a bedroom), kids' room (with built-in bunkbeds). The living room (on the lower level) is flanked by an open dining area, a pantry, and a bar, all offering unique views across the ship's upper decks through a 2-story window wall.

Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks

The Wish ship has 3x themed MDRs (main restaurants) called "Animator's Palate", "Enchanted Garden", and "Royal Palace". There are 2x adults-only specialty restaurants - "Remy" (named after the "Ratatouille" movie star, French cuisine) and "Palo" (Italian cuisine) as alternative dining options. The line's Rotational Dining system allows you to rotate to each of the three main restaurants each night while your servers follow you. The Animator's Palate has screens showing animated Disney characters and themes from "Finding Nemo" movie. The Enchanted Garden is a Versailles-inspired room, featuring lighting effects, transforming the day into night. The Royal Palace is princesses-themed with numerous portraits of "Cinderella" and the "Sleeping Beauty" movie characters (even the bread baskets are shaped like Cinderella's coach). The food quality is very good, the service staff is amicable and timely.

The Remy restaurant is a classy place to be on any special occasion, offering a marvelous French menu and charging serious prices - a service fee of $75 PP (reservations are required, along with the formal dress code), drinks and wine are additional. The Palo restaurant is an Italian (Mediterranean) eatery with US$20 cover PP (serves dinner and on selected days - Champagne brunch). Superb fish and seafood entrees, a cold buffet (meats, cheese, shrimp, salads and desserts) and several hot made-to-order items. The "Cabanas" casual dining complex on Deck 11 has several food and drink stations for hot and cold buffet items (including made-to-order omelets and sandwiches). The "Flo's Cafe" offers burgers, chicken fingers, wraps, pizza, salads.

In late-December 2020, DCL released a teaser video that revealed that the Disney character Cinderella will be the lobby statue positioned in the Atrium's lower/base level. The midship-located Grand Hall Atrium is a 3-deck high entertainment area with an open-floor design and a grand staircase. At the liner's stern (aft hull section) is painted the Disney character Rapunzel.

Disney's 35-minute youtube video production released on April 29, 2021, revealed the following signature features of DCL Disney Wish.

  • onboard appearances by Disney characters (Olaf, Captain Minnie, Captain Mickey, a fairy godmother)
  • The 760-ft (232-m) long waterslide (Slide-a-Saurus Rex) has show scenes, special lighting and sound effects. In comparison to Fantasy-Dream, Wish has more swimming pools (7 total) and outdoor deck spaces, plus AquaMouse (pool district/water playground for families).
  • The Oceaneer Club (a dedicated venue with supervised activities for children 3- to 12-years-old) is currently not available on other Disney ships. Other kids clubs include Marvel Super Hero Academy (Spider-Man, Ant-Man, The Wasp, Black Panther, kids can make their own-design superhero costumes), Fairytale Hall (Rapunzel Art Studio, Belle Library, Anna and Elsa’s Summerhus), Imagineering Lab (VR experience/kids can design and virtually ride their own roller coasters - based on designs like Tomorrowland's Space Mountain Roller Coaster, Anaheim Disneyland's Matterhorn Bobsleds roller coasters, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad/mine-train roller coaster), Small World Nursery (for toddlers 6-months to 3-years-old, with babysitting), Hero Zone (indoor playground/sports arena), Olaf’s Royal Picnic (character interactions, live music performances).
  • For teenagers (11 to 17-yo) are designed exclusive hangouts with supervised programs. Children 11 to 14-yo have a separate hangout.
  • On the deck above the Navigation Bridge/Wheelhouse are positioned staterooms. Some of the Suites are 2-level accommodations (fleet's first duplex apartments with connecting spiral staircases).

New for DCL dining venues include Palo Steakhouse (115-seats, also serving traditional Italian cuisine/Cogsworth-themed), Enchante Restaurant (by Michelin chef Arnaud Lallement/Lumiere-themed, capacity 45 seats, a-la-carte-priced menu, 6-course & 9-course dinners), The Rose Restaurant & Bar Lounge ("Beauty and the Beast" movie-themed).

Quiet Cove Pool District is an adults-only Sundeck with a swimming pool (infinity pool), Jacuzzis, Pool Bar, Pool Cafe.

The boat has two 3D Cinemas (named Wonderland Cinema, Never Land Cinema). These are screening rooms (with capacity 84 seats and 86 seats) for films produced by Walt Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm.

Luna Square is a midship-located space with family-style entertainment during the day, and in the evenings transforming into an adults-only venue. Luna Lounge features a 2-deck LED screen, Bar (Luna Libations), stage (for interactive and live shows, like “Villains Game Night”, “Disney Songbook”, “Disney Uncharted Adventure”.

Star Wars superheroes entertain adults at the new Star Wars movie-themed " Hyperspace Lounge ”. The venue became "hyper-famous" for offering one of the world's most expensive cocktails - the Kaliburr Crystal, priced at USD 5000. The new drink is encased inside a camtono (a security container for storing valuables in The Mandalorian/The Book of Boba Fett) which opens with a button touch and a twist of a rotary cylindric handle. The carrier's side panels then fall open granting access to the "content" - three shot-style glasses full of the expensive concoction. While the ingredients are not listed, there are some speculations that one of them is Remy Martin's Louis XIII cognac (US$3000-4000 a bottle) or other top-shelf liquor.

  • Regular-priced beverages at the Hyperspace Lounge are priced from US$15.
  • With the purchase of any cocktail, guests can take home as a souvenir the Hyperspace Lounge Glass for an additional US$12.

Disney ship Wish has 3 family restaurants with table service: "Arendelle" (with a Frozen Dining Experience/live shows featuring Disney Frozen 2 film's characters Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Sven, Olaf), "1923" (the year Walt Disney Studios opened/with menus featuring California food specialties), and "Worlds of Marvel" (superheroes and multimedia dining experience).

Also new for the DCL fleet are the "quick food" bars "Marceline Market" and "Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods". Both are complimentary and open throughout the day.

  • "Marceline Market" is a food marketplace with a changing menu (and daily specials), both indoor-outdoor seating. All dishes are freshly prepared and include American and international classics, seafood, comfort foods, baked goods, soups, salads, vegetarian and vegan fare, desserts. Marceline Market is casual, with buffet-style dining (for breakfast and lunch) and table-served diners (with cooked-to-order entrees).
  • "Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods" is a family restaurant (for quick bites) open throughout the day, including for lunch and dinner. This is an outdoor (seaside boardwalk-style) eatery with shaded seating and all 5x themed food stations - Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue (fleet's first BBQ bar), Donald’s Cantina (fleet's first Mexican food bar), Daisy’s Pizza Pies, Goofy’s Grill, Sweet Minnie’s Ice Cream (also offering soft ice cream).

On Disney Wish (at Worlds of Marvel Restaurant/deck 4) debuts DCL's "Avengers: Quantum Encounter”. The new cinematic experience combines dining (Marvel Cinematic Universe-themed menu) with superheroes (Ant-Man and The Wasp on an action-packed mission), storytelling (with guests playing interactive roles) and technology (Quantum Core is a new device that causes objects to change size/shrink and grow remotely). Worlds of Marvel Restaurant's dishes are inspired by Marvel Studios' fictional countries Wakanda and Sokovia, as well as Avengers Compound (NYC base).

Shipboard entertainment options - Fun and Sport

The ship's kids clubs are the main reason for Disney's high loyalty passengers ratio. Besides all the Disney characters, innovative technologies and fun attractions, Disney children counselors are a pretty big reason many families to repeat their bookings with the company. Always smiling and friendly, they are hugely experienced, all college-educated, attentive and downright. The Oceaneer's "Club" and "Lab" facilities (ages 3-10) are connected, thus doubling the fun space. The "Oceaneer's Club" features the "Andy's Room" (with oversized Disney characters for kids to climb on) and the "Laugh Floor" (with its "laugh-o-meter" and Mike and Sully of "Monsters Inc"). The "Oceaneer's Lab" is maritime-themed, featuring an Animator's Studio and a small Sound Studio. The new Disney approach allows all kids ages 3-10 to access the same clubs with separate rooms and age-related activities.

Cruise liner's children club is called "Edge" (ages 11-13) properly secluded on Deck 13 in the funnel. The best attractions here are the 18 ft (5,5 m) high LCD wall, the video karaoke, numerous interconnected PCs. The teen-only "Vibe" club (ages 14-17) is sized 9000 ft2 (836 m2), fitted with a fountain bar and its own sundeck and swimming pools.

MS Disney Triton cruise ship

Public spaces are decorated in deep blue and red, with numerous "Mickeys" just about everywhere (cabin, artwork, dinnerware, railings). One of the ship's most memorable places is the 3-deck high Atrium Lobby with its golden hue, the wide royalty-style winding staircase, and the Donald Duck bronze statue. The Grand Hall Atrium is a hub area connecting restaurants, theaters, and shops. You may check emails in the Internet cafe, but there's also Wi-Fi coverage throughout the ship.

Like all Disney liners, Wish has no Casino (gambling lounge).

Onboard fun activities

All stage shows feature intricate sets and Disney themed captivating performances, and the big place for grand entertainment is the Disney Theater with goldies like the "Golden Mickeys" and "Villains Tonight", new amazing stage productions, like the "Disney's Believe" (directed by Gordon Greenberg) and all the best Disney movies in 3D. Walt Disney characters onboard have always been the greatest sensation of all, and there are countless opportunities to meet and greet Mickey and company around the ship - in contrast to Disneyland, here they all are accessible and will always stop for a hug and a photo with you. Another big success is the "Pirates in the Caribbean" kids party divided into two programs - the sing-along "Mickey's Pirates in the Caribbean" followed by the "Club Pirate" (with many special effects) and great Disney fireworks (between the shows).

Wellness (SPA and FITNESS), swimming pools, waterslides, technology

The wellness complex "Senses" (Spa & Beauty) offers all the usual treatments (haircuts, manicures) and more exotic choices (hot-stone massages, mud baths).

  • Senses Spa features an outdoor relaxation space/sundeck (with Jacuzzis, padded sun loungers and deckchairs) where can also be held open-air Yoga sessions.
  • Senses Spa's "The Rainforest" (ice lounge) offers thermal therapies and is fitted with heated loungers, sensory showers.
  • The wellness complex also has Treatment Rooms (for massages), Sauna Room, Steam Room, Dry Room, Spa Villas (for couples).
  • Senses Fitness Center consists of a large main room (with premium gym equipment) and separate Cycle Studio and Aerobics Studio (where at an additional fee are offered Yoga and Pilates classes).

Untangled Salon (Beauty Parlor) and Hook’s Barbery (Barber Shop/Men’s Salon) are DCL fleet's first venues dedicated to hair- and beauty services for adults.

  • Untangled Salon (themed on Princess Rapunzel from Disney's movie "Tangled", 2010) is colored in purple and gold and offers haircuts and styling, manicures, pedicures, teeth whitening, skin treatments.
  • Hook’s Barbery (themed on Captain Hook/from Disney's movie "Peter Pan", 1953) is decorated in dark woods, furnished with leather chairs and golden mirrors, and offers haircuts, shaves, skincare and nail services. Part of the Barbery is a hidden bar serving premium liquors (bourbons, vintage whiskies, aged rums).

The Sports Deck has a small sports court, a mini-golf course, Ping-Pong tables, a walking/jogging track.

The "Chill" is a teen-only Spa within the facility.

Disney cruise water park slide Aquaduck

The pool deck has a large area for family fun water activities, featuring 2 whirlpools/hot tubs and 2 kids pools - "Donald's" (5 ft deep) and "Mickey's" (with a spiral slide). A big attraction here is the big LED screen mounted on the funnel. There's a toddler splash area (Nemo-themed) located in the center on Deck 11 with huge glass panes for parents to monitor their kids.

The Slide-a-Saurus Rex waterslide (water-coaster at sea) is located atop the ship and features a 765 ft (233 m) long 4-decks high transparent tube. The spinning tube reaches an incredible height of 150 ft (46 m) above sea level (there's a 42-inch / 107 cm height requirement). "Toy Story Splash Zone" is the kids' aquapark where the waterslide ends. The adults-only "Quiet Cove" pool area is a great place to hide from all the little angels and devils around the ship.

Midship on decks 11-12 there is a Mickey-themed family district with a total of 6x pools (various sized and with different depths) surrounded by spacious sundecks with plenty of sun loungers.

Triton-class new Disney cruise ships (pool deck)

"Disney Uncharted Adventure" is another fleet-first - an interactive family experience that combines imagination and VR technology into a multidimensional sea voyage full of Disney-Pixar characters. The new gaming experience is offered via guests' mobile devices. Via the app "Play Disney Parks", the phones/tablets transform into magical spyglasses allowing them to sail uncharted worlds, unlock missions, solve puzzles, conquer other "virtual cruisers".

  • The "virtual ship" is mastered by Captain Minnie Mouse assisted by Captain Mickey.
  • Players choose the ship's course, with VR options like Motunui Island (from the Moana movie), Neverland Island (Peter Pan movie), New Orleans (from "The Princess and the Frog" movie), Sydney NSW (from Finding Nemo) and others.
  • "Disney Uncharted Adventure" gaming includes signature characters like Moana, Tiana, Tinker Bell, Kakamora, Peter Pan, Captain Cook, Nemo & friends.
  • You must download the app prior to the cruise.
  • Each player can choose to complete all or just a few adventures/missions and is allowed to start and stop at any time.

AquaMouse is a family fun water attraction and another DCL fleet-first.

  • AquaMouse waterslide has length 760 ft (232 m) of winding tubes suspended above upper decks. The experience is complete with video scenes, special lighting and sound effects, "splashtacular surprises" (60+ water effects).
  • The water ride starts with boarding 2-seater vehicles and ascending into a "magical tunnel" teleporting into the virtual worlds of “Scuba Scramble” and "Swiss Meltdown" (two short animation movies played out through the tube's large virtual windows/LED screens). Along the way are encountered curious sea creatures and popular Disney characters.
  • At the height of the "show", passengers are blasted out of the tunnel to start watersliding around the upper ship decks - first around the forward funnel (through an enclosed tube/lighting effects), then through a dark tunnel followed by a transparent tube revealing breathtaking ocean views. Follow a series of speed blasters up and down ending with a loop over the ship's edge and into the Mermaid Lagoon (swimming pool).
  • Both AquaMouse animated shorts (Scuba Scramble, Swiss Meltdown) are starred by Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. "Scuba Scramble" is an underwater adventure (at Mermaid Lagoon), while "Swiss Meltdown" is a mountain sledding excursion going awry. The two chipmunks Chip and Dale are in both shows, hitchhiking to Castaway Cay (DCL's Bahamian island) .

Follows the complete list of DCL Disney Wish lounges, clubs and other entertainment venues for kids, teens, and adults.

  • Walt Disney Theatre (1274-seats, Magical Forest-themed entertainment lounge) is fitted with a Dolby Atmos (3D sound system) and offers live shows, aerial acrobatics performances, 3x grand-style productions (in the evenings), bingo, trivia games and 3D movies (during the day). Disney Wish Wiki

On July 15, 2017, Disney Cruise Line/DCL officially announced the company's plans to build 3 new vessels in Germany, at Meyer Werft 's Papenburg Shipyard . The so exciting for all Mickey Mouse fans announcement was made by Bob Chapek (Walt Disney Parks and Resorts company's Chairman).

MS Disney Wish's construction officially started on April 8, 2021, with the keel-laying ceremony (Meyer Werft yard/hull number 705) held at Shipyard Papenburg, being the 54th cruise vessel constructed there. During the special event, the first hull block was lowered into the building dock, and, for good luck, under the keel was placed a newly minted coin that features the Disney character Captain Minnie. The coin was placed by Philip Matthew Gennotte - Executive Manager of the subsidiary Walt Disney Imagineering (Germany) GmbH. DCL also announced that Captain Minnie will be part of the ship's hull artwork (at the bow).

Disney Cruise Line newest ships (Triton-class)

Disney Wish was launched/floated out from drydock (at Meyer Werft Papenburg) on February 11, 2022.

At ~8 am local time (~6 am UTC) on March 30, 2022, started the ship's 10-hour (32-km / 20-mi long) conveyance voyage on Ems River from Papenburg towards Emden . The voyage started with the Papenburg yard's dock lock passage, and around noon passed the Friesen Bridge (near Weener). During the night, the ship arrived at Ems Barrage (a storm surge barrier near Gandersum), then headed for Eemshaven (Netherlands) where remained docked for final outfitting. Curiously, the ship navigated/moved backward, being assisted by tugboats. Next is listed the conveyance voyage's schedule (local time):

  • March 30 (~12:15 pm) Friesen-Brucke/Bridge passage (near Weener)
  • March 30 (~3:30 pm) Jann-Berghaus-Brucke/Bridge passage (near Leer )
  • March 31 (~12:30 am) Ems Barrage passage (near Gandersum)
  • March 31 (~2:30 am) arriving at Port Emden

On January 22, 2019, Port Canaveral officials gathered to discuss the new liners' docking at DCL's exclusive Cruise Terminal 8. The facility was improved and upgraded in order to accommodate/berth the 3 new boats simultaneously. With scheduled deliveries in 2022 (Wish), 2024 ( Treasure ) and 2025 ( Destiny ), the newbuilds are designed with ~1250 staterooms each. To handle them, Orlando Port Canaveral's Disney Terminal 8 was upgraded to passenger capacity 7500 tourists at a time.

DCL's TRITON liners have LOA length 341 m (1119 ft), making them the fleet's longest. By GT tonnage/volume (~144,000 tons each) and passenger capacity (2500 / max 3500), the newbuilds are similarly sized as the sisterships Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy , but LNG-powered (by liquefied natural gas) and with more and new facilities and amenities. In 2025, Walt Disney will nearly double its old 4-ship fleet (Dream, Fantasy, Magic, Wonder).

At the released on March 9, 2018, the new ship's exterior rendering was shown the company's traditional black-white-red hull color scheme. New in the design is the superstructure's golden flair. Between the two funnels is located top-deck's waterpark with slides. Balcony cabins are positioned midship, which allows larger staterooms.

'"Disney Triton" was chosen as the name of Walt Disney's new vessel class/series. Triton is Ancient Greece's god of the sea. Being the son of Poseidon (the god of the waters) and Amphitrite (the goddess of the Sea), Triton is the herald for his father and usually represented as a Merman (male mermaid) having an upper human body and tail and fins of a fish. Like his father, Triton carries a trident, but his special attribute is a twisted conch shell with which he calms or raises the waves. According to the Disney story, King Triton is the protective and loving father of "The Little Mermaid" Ariel, as well as one of the most powerful Disney characters ever created.

Disney Wish was officially delivered by Meyer Werft to DCL on June 9, 2022, in Port Bremerhaven . The ceremony was attended by Thomas Mazloum (DCL's President), Jan Meyer (Meyer Werft GmbH's Managing Director), Henning Stellermann (Meyer Werft's Project Manager).

Following the delivery to DCL, Disney Wish left Bremerhaven (on June 9th, at 17:29 UTC) and via Ponta Delgada/Sao Miguel Island Azores Portugal (bunkering stop on June 13th, between 12:11-21:56 UTC) made the Transatlantic crossing from Europe to the USA, arriving at Port Canaveral on June 20th, at 9:08 UTC.

In 2019 was announced that during their inaugural seasons in the Caribbean, two of Disney's newest ships (Wish and Treasure) will be homeported in Port Canaveral - the principal seaport for Orlando City (Walt Disney's theme park capital). The 3rd newbuild (Destiny) will be based in PortMiami . In Miami and Port Canaveral, DCL's newest liners are fueled by LNG bunkering barges docking alongside the berthed vessel.

In late-April 2021, DCL released the first video of the "Designing the Disney Wish" series themed on the ship's design, Disney characters and special features. The hull design features Captain Minnie Mouse (bow character) and the sculpture of Rapunzel (aft/at the stern). The liner's interior is designed using three classic Disney themes - fairytale castles (including for the Atrium's Grand Hall), forests and animals, and the spirit of the sea. The 3-deck high Atrium (midship-located, open-floor area) features a grand staircase, the bronze sculpture of Cinderella (at the Lobby level), and a large chandelier with thousands of crystals and a huge "wishing star" at its bottom.

Ship christening 2022

In June 2022 DCL announced that instead of a godmother/godfather/godparents the Wish ship will have godchildren - from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Make-A-Wish is a 1980-founded children's charity (Phoenix, Arizona USA-headquartered American non-profit organization) created to fulfill the wishes of children with critical illnesses (website wish.org).

DCL's announcement included that during the ship's naming ceremony, the Make-A-Wish children will recite the traditional blessings for the vessel. The Disney-Make-A-Wish partnership also includes creating and selling fleetwide Disney-themed merchandise, with 10% of the profits donated to the Foundation.

The christening ceremony was held on June 30th (pierside at Port Canaveral Terminal) and attended by Bob Chapek (The Walt Disney Company's CEO) and Josh D'Amaro (Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products). Anika Noni Rose (voice actor for the character Tiana in "The Princess and the Frog"/2009 animated musical film) performed live singing along with characters from the movies Toy Story, Frozen, Marvel, Star Wars.

Near the end of the naming ceremony, three godchildren/Make-A-Wish children recited the traditional ship blessing.

Disney Wish Cruise Ship: Everything You Need to Know

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Disney Cruise Line’s new ship is the Disney Wish, which sets sail in Summer 2022. This guide covers everything you need to know, with concept art, photos & video and a behind-the-scenes preview of the Marvel, Star Wars & Frozen experiences, luxury amenities, and spacious staterooms aboard the “next chapter” of DCL’s story. ( Updated April 26, 2022 .)

After a delay of one month, the Disney Wish will sail its 5-night maiden voyage on July 14, 2022, followed by a season of 3 and 4-night cruises to Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney Cruise Line’s private island, Castaway Cay, from Port Canaveral, Florida. Bookings are now open to the general public for sailings through Summer 2023.

Our first impression of the Disney Wish is that it’s a ship of “firsts.” It has the first-ever attraction at sea, theatrical dining experience themed to Frozen that’s never been done before, ditto its unprecedented Marvel dinner adventure, Imagineering lab for kids, and Star Wars bar that is only for adults. The unprecedented quality of the Disney Wish extends beyond the melding of dining and entertainment–the ship’s staterooms and royal suites are more spacious than the legacy ships, most have an ocean view, and 70% have a verandah.

Turning to the specifics, let’s start inside the Disney Wish’s Grand Hall, which is the ship’s “Castle on the Seas.” This is where guests will find Luna, the town square stage. This brand-new entertainment hub will transition from a daytime setting for family fun into an elegant evening venue for adult-exclusive entertainment, offering a variety of live shows and interactive programming throughout the day and night.

Featuring a design inspired by the Disney-Pixar short “La Luna,” the venue will feature a two-story LED screen wall, stylish stage, full-service bar and spacious seating. Luna will create an energetic atmosphere on the lower level that will buzz with community and life. The balcony will offer a more intimate setting for enjoying the festivities in small groups, with secluded seating in semi-private booths.

Disney Wish Stage Shows & Entertainment

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Next, Live Shows at the Walt Disney Theatre. This venue is a hallmark of the Disney Cruise Line experience, which hosts a roster of original Broadway-style stage shows developed exclusively for DCL. These shows will be presented in the Walt Disney Theatre, an elegant 1,274-seat show palace that spans three decks with orchestra and balcony seating.

On the Disney Wish, the design of the Walt Disney Theatre will evoke an enchanted forest, imbuing the atmosphere with a sense of magic inspired by scenes from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Fantasia . The theater will be equipped with state-of the-art technology, including projection mapping technology and a Dolby Atmos 3D audio system to create a transformative theatrical experience rivaling anything on land or at sea.

The first show is an adaptation of the critically acclaimed “Aladdin on Broadway” stage show, which is not new to Disney Cruise Line or even Disney theme parks. It’s a great show that’s absolutely carried by Genie and his humor. Here are the new additions to the Disney Wish…

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Disney The Little Mermaid – An original take on the renowned Walt Disney Animation Studios film, developed as a collaboration between the creative minds at Disney Cruise Line and a team of top Broadway talent. This modern-day adaptation of “The Little Mermaid” is exclusively for the Disney Wish. Audiences will rediscover the iconic scenes, acclaimed music and beloved characters of the film, as a cast of contemporary storytellers put their own spin on the timeless tale.

“Disney The Little Mermaid” will feature innovative theatrical design, dazzling special effects, artistic choreography, and a reimagined script and score that will surprise and delight guests of all ages. “Under the Sea” will be the show’s biggest production number, complete with incredible vocals, show-stopping choreography and plenty of special effects. The show’s cutting-edge puppetry will be on the greatest display, as countless sea creatures and fantastical characters like Sebastian and Flounder gather on stage to sing, dance and celebrate.

Throughout the show, scenic designs and state-of-the-art video projections will transform the Walt Disney Theatre into a 360-degree undersea environment. During “Kiss the Girl,” Sebastian will lead a chorus of sea life in a refreshed rendition of the melody as the audience is visually transported into the scene. In a new twist exclusive to our show, even though Ariel doesn’t have a voice at this point in the story, her inner voice  will play an important and meaningful role in the song.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Disney Seas the Adventure – This show will begin with Captain Minnie Mouse handing over the helm to her dear friend Goofy, leaving him a little unsure about the responsibility. With the help of some familiar friends, he’ll embark on a musical voyage into favorite Disney and Pixar stories on a journey to discover his own inner captain.

Early in his adventure, Goofy will learn the power of hard work to make a dream come true when he meets Tiana during a lively performance of “Almost There” from “The Princess and the Frog.” The show’s grand finale will feature a cavalcade of characters joining Captain Minnie and Goofy on stage. But rather than bidding the audience farewell, these favorite Disney friends will lead guests out of the theater and into the Grand Hall for an unforgettable sendoff experience unlike anything we’ve done before.

Another entertainment option aboard the Disney Wish is Hero Zone, a futuristic sports arena where physical activity will blend with imagination, alternating between a family obstacle course and a free-play sports hub. Families will take on action-packed physical challenges themed to super heroes during over-the-top, game show-style competitions. Balcony viewing space will be available for other guests to watch, cheer and admire the fearless feats performed during the epic games.

Disney Wish AquaMouse “Attraction at Sea”

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Moving on to perhaps the most exciting detail of the Disney Wish: AquaMouse, the first-ever Disney “attraction at sea.” This brand-new family water attraction that will bring to life the adventures of “The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse” animated shorts like never before.

AquaMouse will be complete with show scenes, lighting and special effects, and splashtacular surprises, this first-of-its-kind water ride will send guests on a fun family adventure through 760 feet of winding tubes suspended high above the upper decks. This will be a 2+ minute experience with a 42″ height requirement.

During this ride, Mickey and Minnie are starting their very own seaside excursion company, “Port Misadventures,” on board the Disney Wish. Adventuresome cruisers will join them on an undersea excursion to Mermaid Lagoon that will inevitably go awry.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

The journey begins with guests boarding two-seater ride vehicles and ascending into a magical tunnel that will teleport them into the cartoon world of “Scuba Scramble,” a new animated short that plays out through oversized virtual portholes. Along the way, they’ll encounter curious sea creatures, character, and 60+ water effects that bring the subaquatic hijinks to life — all synced to an original musical score by Emmy-nominated composer Christopher Willis.

At the height of the show, guests will blast out of the tunnel and embark on a wild water ride around the upper decks. First, they’ll zip into the forward funnel through an enclosed tube surrounded by dazzling lighting effects, followed by a quick dash through a dark tunnel that opens up to reveal ocean views.

They’ll then jet up and down a series of speed blasters propelled toward the grand finale: a soaring loop over the edge of the ship, with clear views down to the sea. With that, they’ll splash down for a send-off message from Mickey and Minnie–another successful tour in the books!

There were a lot of cool aspects of the Dish Wish unveiling, but this takes the cake for me. The parallels to Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway are obvious, and if Imagineering manages to pull off something even a quarter that impressive aboard a cruise ship water ride, it’ll be an impressive feat of storytelling and technical innovation. I’m really excited for AquaMouse!

Disney Wish Pool Areas

disney wish cruise ship specifications

In addition to AquaMouse, families will have more pools, more deck space and more dining than ever before in an expansive pool district themed to Mickey and friends. Located on decks 11 and 12 midship, this area will include six pools of various sizes, staggered among tiered decks to provide families with space to stretch out. Guests will enjoy a variety of poolside entertainment on Funnel Vision. For guests seeking a laid-back environment, another family pool will be available on deck 14 forward.

The Disney Wish will also feature brand-new food and beverage offerings on the upper decks, including relaxed indoor dining and a fresh take on quick and casual fare with a festive character twist. More details on these experiences will be released at a later date.

At Quiet Cove, guests ages 18 and older will find a secluded adults-only district dedicated to lounging, sipping and soaking. Set away from the bustle of family activities, this relaxing refuge at the back of the ship will offer breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean from a luxurious infinity pool.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

At the other end of the spectrum, children will be able to enjoy Toy Story Splash Zone, a water playground where Woody, Buzz and friends will be adorably reimagined as larger-than-life rubber bath toys that move and spray water. Inspired by the Disney and Pixar short “Partysaurus Rex,” this bathtub-themed splash zone will combine the Old West of Woody’s Roundup with the intergalactic world of Buzz Lightyear, featuring two toddler-sized slides and pop jets, geysers, and bubblers galore.

Everyone in the family will enjoy a trip down Slide-a-saurus Rex, a double-looping waterslide that sends guests plunging “down the drain” with the rest of the toys when the metaphorical bathtub overflows. Another feature will be Trixie’s Falls, a six-inch-deep wading pool with a small fountain and waterfall. Finally, Wheezy’s Freezies, a smoothie bar serving up refreshing fruit blends for the perfect cool-down treat.

Speaking of smoothies, let’s turn to dining on the Disney Wish, starting with a video previewing adult experiences aboard the Disney Wish…

Disney Wish Dining

Like every Disney Cruise Line vessel, the Disney Wish will offer a collection of bars and lounges reserved exclusively for adults each evening.

These venues will be spread out among the ship’s other core gathering places for a more flexible, free-flow experience. Also new is the storytelling in these spaces, providing ways for adults to experience Disney stories in sophisticated ways.

Disney Wish Bars & Lounges

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge – This will be a high-end bar styled as a luxurious yacht-class spaceship, set against a virtual window into the galaxy that will feature famous spaceships from Batuu, Tatooine, and beyond. This richly themed, immersive experience will be reserved for adults every evening, offering interactive tasting experiences and signature beverages inspired by the films.

The venue’s sleek interior design and metallic detailing is inspired by lavish star cruisers similar to Dryden Vos’ ship in “Solo: A Star Wars Story.” While guests sip their galactic concoctions, this space-faring voyage will transport them to iconic locations from the eras of the Republic, Empire and First Order, employing hyperspace jumps to travel from planet to planet while sensational scenes unfold just beyond the ship’s panoramic viewport at each stop.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Keg & Compass – A pub that is perfect for watching live sports or news while enjoying custom craft beers available exclusively aboard the Disney Wish. Keg & Compass celebrates the adventure and romance of the sea, designed in the architectural style of a late 1800s Norwegian sailor’s map room. Drawing inspiration from the rich folklore of Norse seafaring, period-style oil paintings will depict tales of the deep and intricate carvings of tentacles, barnacles, compasses, and more will accentuate porthole frames.

Spanning the entire ceiling will be a grand map in old maritime style that features references to ocean lore and pays homage to Disney characters and stories related to the sea. In addition to such characters as Ursula and Moana, the map will call out important locales related to Disney.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Nightingale’s – A refined piano bar inspired by Cinderella’s lyrical rendition of “Sing Sweet Nightingale” in the 1950 film, offering an extensive menu of fine wines, bubblies and hand-crafted cocktails. Nightingale’s lounge will be a thematic extension of the fairytale-inspired Grand Hall from which it stems, with large doors that allow the music to spill into the atrium.

Classically modern with a soft metallic palette, the predominant design feature of Nightingale’s will be a glittering chandelier perched above the piano, with swirling pearlescent bubbles and music notes crafted out of rose gold.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

The Bayou – Guests looking for New Orleans-inspired good time can go down to The Bayou, an informal lounge themed to The Princess and the Frog . This centrally located venue will offer creative cocktails, specialty coffees, and signature beignets in a lively, social atmosphere with live entertainment and musical performances.

With magnolia blossoms, lily pads, and a canopy of twinkling fireflies overhead, the Bayou will evoke the magical marsh where Tiana and Naveen take refuge in the film. A bronze statue of each character will be prominently displayed, and two gazebos inspired by the city’s iconic wrought iron metalwork structures will provide intimate seating for small groups on either side of the bar.

Disney Wish Casual Dining & Buffets

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Marceline Market – Named for Walt Disney’s early childhood hometown in Missouri, Marceline Market is the Disney Wish’s main food hall. Inspired by popular marketplaces, Marceline Market will feature a changing menu of specialized offerings in a free flow setting with both indoor and outdoor seating and ocean views all around.

Featuring 10 food stalls and a café-style beverage bar in the center, Marceline Market will be styled as an old industrial loft converted into a bustling marketplace. At this food hall, the local proprietors are Disney characters themselves, as each station is themed to beloved animated films such as Tangled, Ratatouille, Alice in Wonderland, Zootopia , and more.

These shopkeepers will curate a wide-ranging variety of freshly prepared cuisines for the whole family to enjoy, including American classics, international specialties, comfort foods, seafood, soups and salads, vegetarian cuisine, baked goods, and desserts. Effectively replacing Cabanas Restaurant, Marceline Market will offer a casual, walk-around dining experience for breakfast and lunch, followed by table-service dining at dinnertime with entrees cooked to order.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods – Located in the middle of the fun on the upper decks, Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods will be the venue for grabbing a quick bite for lunch, dinner or anytime in between. Fan-favorite treats will include Disney Cruise Line’s signature soft-serve ice cream. The Disney Wish will feature the fleet’s first dedicated quick-service venues for barbeque and Mexican-inspired fare.

This open-air eatery comprises five separate food stalls: Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue, Donald’s Cantina, Daisy’s Pizza Pies, Goofy’s Grill, and Sweet Minnie’s Ice Cream. The design is inspired by the seaside boardwalk setting featured in popular “Mickey Mouse” animated shorts. A large shaded seating area will provide convenient and comfortable accommodations for families to relax and enjoy their meals.

Disney Wish Rotational Dining

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure – Rotational dining aboard the Disney Wish will be unique, with the debut of three brand-new family restaurants. First up, Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure. This is Disney Cruise Line’s first “Frozen”-themed theatrical dining experience, bringing the kingdom of Arendelle to life through immersive live entertainment along with Nordic-inspired cuisine.

Designed in the style of a theater-in-the-round, families be invited to attend a royal engagement party for Queen Anna and Kristoff, picking up the story where “Frozen 2” left off. Elsa and Olaf will host the celebration with catering provided by their friend Oaken’s “Hearty Party Planning Service… and Sauna” and live entertainment by “local” musicians who specialize in Nordic renditions of familiar “Frozen” songs.

‘Avengers: Quantum Encounter’ at Worlds of Marvel – Worlds of Marvel is the first-ever Marvel cinematic dining adventure, where guests will play an interactive role in an action-packed Avengers mission that unfolds around them, complete with a worldly menu inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“Avengers: Quantum Encounter” will follow Ant-Man and The Wasp as they embark on their first public speaking engagement on behalf of the Avengers. They are hosting a special presentation of the most powerful Super Hero technologies, such as Captain America’s shield, Iron Man’s arc reactor, and Ant-Man’s Pym Particles. This will give guests an up-close look at holographic models, field reports, and iconic scenes from Marvel movies displayed on the screens surrounding the room.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

The highlight of this special event is a hands-on demonstration of the latest and greatest Pym Tech, the Quantum Core, which uses unstable, cutting-edge technology to shrink and grow targets. Of course, something will go hilariously wrong, with Ant-Man-style hijinks ensuing.

An unexpected villain will also show up with an army in tow, attempting to steal the quantum technology. Ant-Man and The Wasp will need all the help they can get to save the day, calling on Captain America, Captain Marvel, and the diners of the Disney Wish for back-up.

Every table at Worlds of Marvel will feature an interactive Quantum Core, which is a new device that can cause objects to shrink and grow remotely. Guests will assist Ant-Man and The Wasp as they attempt some small-scale trials, perhaps shrinking oversized luggage for easy stateroom storage.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

When enough of the Quantum Cores are activated at the same time, the entire venue will become supercharged as energy pulses through the power channels in the walls and ceiling. Outfitted with Pym Tech and decked out in signature Stark-itecture style, the design of Worlds of Marvel will offer surprises in all shapes and sizes, from a distinctly Marvel hexagonal motif to Easter eggs and hidden details.

Worlds of Marvel will take families on a flavorful tour of the real and fictional settings of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with dishes inspired by locales like African Wakanda, Eastern European Sokovia, and the Avengers’ home base of New York City. Guests can expect to find a diverse array of globally influenced items and fun nods to the worlds and characters from Marvel Studios films.

1923 – Named for the year The Walt Disney Company was founded, 1923 is an elegant celebration of the company’s legacy, paying homage to the golden age of animation and offering a tasteful tribute to its Californian heritage.

Combining classic Hollywood glamour with a dash of Disney whimsy, 1923 features two lavishly appointed dining rooms, aptly named for the men behind the magic of the original film studio: Walt and Roy Disney. The rooms are adorned with more than 1,000 drawings, props and other tools of the trade, providing an inside look at the evolution of Disney animation.

At 1923, guests will enjoy sophisticated dishes designed with families in mind and inspired by the fusion of cultural flavors found throughout the Golden State. The diverse menu will mirror the region’s unique blend of Asian, European and South American cuisines and will feature local ingredients like fresh produce, wild honey and earthy pistachios.

Aboard the Disney Wish, this club will offer an exclusive line-up of interactive games and programs where characters stay to play.

With the club located on deck 2, parents will be able to check in their children in the Grand Hall on deck 3 and then send them “down the rabbit hole” on a twisting slide that lands directly and securely into the central hub. Decorated with black-and-white sketches of Disney and Pixar characters, the hub will feature a stage and its own slate of special shows, activities and character appearances.

Marvel Super Hero Academy – A high-tech Avengers headquarters where young “recruits” will train to be the next generation of Super Heroes with the help of their own real-life heroes, like Spider-Man, Black Panther, Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Kids will begin by choosing a super hero suit from a selection of power sets based on Marvel heroes like Iron Man and Captain Marvel, and watching their choices become nanotech forms around mannequins in real-time. Then it will be time for “Avengers: Mission Training,” a gesture-based technology game where they put their new suits and skills to the test as they virtually battle bad guys.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique – Book pixie-dusted makeovers for kids ages 3 to 12, complete with hairstyling, makeup, costumes and accessories. The venue will feature beautiful wood detailing, chandeliers with candle lights and design elements inspired by Cinderella. There will also be a mural featuring a majestic wooded landscape and Cinderella Castle sparkling in the distance.

In addition to the guest-favorite princess, pirate and knight transformations already available, the Disney Wish will offer a selection of brand-new looks coming soon to the entire Disney Cruise Line fleet. For example, young cruisers will be able to become Captain Minnie Mouse and Captain Mickey Mouse with these adorable makeovers inspired by the characters’ signature Disney Cruise Line looks.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Fairytale Hall – A royal trio of activity rooms where kids will join some of their favorite Disney Princesses and Frozen Queens as they let their creativity shine at Rapunzel’s Art Studio, read and act out stories at Belle’s Library, and test newfound icy powers at Anna and Elsa’s Sommerhus.

  • Inspired by her love of expression, Rapunzel’s Art Studio will be a creative escape where kids will have the best day ever making their own arts and crafts projects, like floating lanterns and paintings.
  • Belle’s Library will be a cozy corner for reading and acting out stories with the help of Disney characters. An enchanted painting above the fireplace will magically transform to bring the tales to life.
  • Anna and Elsa are never far from snow, even in their summer cabin. Here, kids will unlock icy powers during “Frozen Fun,” a series of gesture-based games hosted by Olaf, which include snowball fights with friendly trolls and a hunt for mischievous Snowgies — the tiny, playful snowmen created by Elsa in the animated short “Frozen Fever.”

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Walt Disney Imagineering Lab – A first-of-its-kind opportunity for kids to discover the secrets of world-renowned Disney Imagineers – the creative masterminds behind Disney theme parks, resorts and cruise ships – with hands-on activities and inventive experiments. Sorcerer Mickey, the ambassador of Walt Disney Imagineering, may even stop by to lend a wand to the newly minted magic makers.

One of the most exciting things Imagineers get to do is design roller coasters. At the Ride Studio, kids will create a coaster along the lines of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain or Matterhorn Bobsleds — and then climb into a capsule where they will virtually ride their imaginative masterpiece.

Very envious of the 12 and under crowd here, Walt Disney Imagineering Lab sounds awesome.

Disney Wish Staterooms & Suites

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Last but not least, the staterooms. These look nice! With an all-new look and feel steeped in enchantment and inspired by dreamy Disney stories, every stateroom on the Disney Wish will be a luxurious retreat designed with families in mind. Each will feature custom-made artwork depicting beloved Disney fairytales created especially for the Disney Wish.

Imagineers have designed dreamlike worlds and restful imagery of enchanted Disney fairytales through glittering gold-leafed headboard murals and framed pieces commissioned exclusively for the Disney Wish. Stateroom artwork represents classic and contemporary Disney stories that capture the essence of wish fulfillment and dreams come true. Beyond the artwork, every detail has been designed to tell a story, from pixie-dusted furnishings to delicate linen embroidery inspired by the fleet’s signature golden filigree.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Every stateroom aboard the Disney Wish has been designed with ample room for families, plenty of storage space and upscale amenities. Most of the ship’s 1,254 staterooms will offer an ocean view, and 877 staterooms (70% of the total!) offer a spacious verandah.

In addition to that, the Disney Wish will be 451 connecting doors that adjoin rooms to accommodate larger families. Some connecting staterooms will have a partition between verandahs that may be opened to create a bigger, shared balcony.

  • Most staterooms will feature Disney Cruise Line’s signature split-bathroom concept, with a sink and shower in one room and a sink and toilet in a separate room. All will include a bathtub — perfect for giving children a bath.
  • Enhanced storage options, roomy closets and elevated bed frames with generous under-bed space will provide plenty of places to store suitcases and other bulky items essential to family travel.
  • Little ones will delight in a secret starfield hidden above pull-down beds, with original artwork revealing a constellation of Fairy Godmother overhead.
  • Other exceptional amenities and highlights will include a 43-inch TV, USB and USB-C ports, large vanity, mini drawer refrigerator, full-length mirror, mini safe, hair dryer, privacy divider, queen and pull-out sofa beds, deluxe toiletries, plush robes, and lavish bed linens and duvets.

The Disney Wish will elevate the concierge experience with 76 concierge staterooms and suites — more than double the number available on other Disney ships.

  • Accommodating up to five guests, these rooms will feature spacious living areas, king beds, luxurious finishes and premium amenities. Most will include a generous private verandah, and most have been designed with the rich color palette and distinctive iconography of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Tangled.”
  • One-bedroom concierge suites will have a separate living room, walk-in closets, two 43-inch TVs and two bathrooms (including a master bathroom with rain shower, bathtub and double vanity).
  • Seven exclusive oceanview rooms are Disney’s first-ever staterooms located above the bridge. These will have extended living areas with breathtaking views of the ocean through floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the bow.

The Disney Wish will also debut four royal suites that celebrate the gilded world of Disney Animation’s “Sleeping Beauty,” with two Princess Aurora Royal Suites and two Briar Rose Royal Suites. Each pair includes a single-floor option and a two-story configuration, the first of their kind for the Disney fleet.

  • Royal suites will feature extravagant details, upscale furnishings and first-class amenities, including an extensive living area, open dining salon, sizeable pantry and private hot tub on the oversized verandah.
  • Each suite has two master bedrooms – each with its own opulent bathroom featuring a double vanity and either a rain shower or bathtub – as well as a double sleeper sofa in the living room and a third bathroom with a shower.
  • The two-story royal suites will boast floor-to-ceiling windows and stunning statement pieces, like an elegant spiral staircase and a spectacular two-deck-high bespoke stained-glass frieze.

Ultimately, we are really  excited for the Disney Wish. It’s actually a bit difficult to reconcile my general indifference towards cruising right now with my hype for this new ship. Everything that Disney has revealed about this new ship (except the price points) makes me more enthusiastic about the upcoming ship.

I don’t want to overdo the enthusiasm or get carried away since it’s mostly just concept art at this point, but the Disney Wish looks amazing. Like the next generation of cruising. It’s as if Imagineering took a huge leap forward, iterating on past designs to make technical, functional, and storytelling improvements in the process. It’s still early, but the Disney Wish looks significantly better than its predecessors, which is really saying something since those ships are exceptional.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

The dining slate looks formidable and unique (although it’ll garner the least attention, I’m most excited for 1923), the rooms look really nice, and AquaMouse is exactly the type of attraction (at sea) that is perfect for Disney Cruise Line–something only Imagineering could do. Reasonable minds may differ, but I’m personally pleased that Disney hasn’t gone over the top in adding crazy recreational options that impinge upon the classic aesthetics of the ship’s design.

Perhaps I’m just old and curmudgeonly, but so much of what other cruise lines are adding seems more gimmicky than anything else; “upgrades” that are great for slick marketing materials, but the vast majority of cruisers will never use. In short, I love what Disney Cruise Line has shown of the Wish thus far, and am incredibly pleased with both its style and substance.

Is there any way to nudge Disney to improve the offerings for teens? We are booked for next winter but I’m really wondering if it’s worth it for teens. My teens are obsessed with Marvel and with Disney parks but won’t be able to do either the super hero activity or the imagineering? Why exclude teens from those? One of my teens has played piano for a dozen years and would love the piano bar—why limit that just to adults? (Or at least have an all ages show.). The dueling piano bar on NCL was one of our favorite family events! Just seems like disney puts a lot of thought into families with young kids, but needs to think a bit more about the older ones. Particularly with these short 3 and 4 day trips, most teens are not going to be in a mode where they want to hang in the teen club and make new friends—the cruises aren’t long enough for that. Anyone know a way to get feedback to the powers that be at disney?

' src=

Kat, my kids did not like the Disney cruise much so I know they would not now as teens Biggest complaint is the pools are so crowded, you’re lucky to get a toe in

Long wait for waterslides (aquaduct, etc)

We enjoy Royal Caribbean much more and more to do for teens for sure Just my opinion

Kat I also forgot to mention that my teens are huge Disney fans We visit Disneyworld a couple times a year for a week at a time and love love it Cruising is a different story We prefer Royal Caribbean for cruising

' src=

We are booked for the end of September and can’t wait!! I am with you 100% and am most excited about dining at 1923. This is our first Disney cruse and I’m so happy that it’s this ship… it just looks stunning!! Fingers crossed that the weather doesn’t play havoc during our trip this year!!

' src=

Didn’t they release any info on the tween & teen clubs? Unfortunately one of our kids just outgrew the oceaners club with the pandemic. Wondering what they have in store for those age 11+

' src=

Looks Amazing, but get ready to pay over double vs. a Royal Caribbean or Carnival Cruise.

' src=

Bye-bye Cabanas? Buffets are a pre-COVID phenom at this point I guess.

' src=

The 70% of rooms having a verandah stat – is that the same for the other Disney ships? I probably can’t afford a verandah, so I hope I’m not fighting over a much smaller pool of rooms than before, as I’d love to cruise on the Wish.

' src=

The ship looks beautiful. The staterooms are very nice looking, and the bathrooms look like a gorgeous upgrade. I’m not so fond of the television facing the bed, rather than in the living area. Families may not like that either. Like being able to close the curtains and read while the kiddo watches Mickey Shorts before bedtime. Also, wondering about the adult district? It seems to be missing? Also wondering about the running track. As a vegan, disappointed about the conversion of Palo into a steakhouse, so I’ll probably skip dinners there, and have my complimentary Platinum meal at brunch. Enchante looks very beautiful. It will be fun and exciting to explore a new ship, of course. Anything, after this past year. ..

Disney Wish Cruise Ship: Complete Guide and Review

Disney launched its fifth cruise ship in July 2022.  After a ten years with no new ships, expectations were high for the newest cruise ship in the Disney fleet.  In many ways, the Disney Wish cruise ship has completely smashed expectations; but there are a few areas where we feel that it may have fallen just a tiny bit short of its potential.

That said, we also know you want to have all the information to make your own decision and determine if it’s the right ship for you.  So, here we’ll present a complete guide to all the facts and figures of the Disney Wish.  We’ll also provide reviews of the ship and its venues. Whether you’re still planning your first Disney Cruise or are a Pearl-level Castaway Club member , there’s a lot to learn about the newest ship in the fleet!

Disney Wish Ship Overview

In many of the big categories, the Disney Wish is exactly like the other Disney Cruise ships. But once you start looking at smaller details, there are a lot of differences.

You still have four main types of passenger staterooms with lots of individual categories and subcategories.  But some of those individual categories include never-before-seen rooms like a Tower Suite that’s actually located inside one of the giant red funnels (smokestacks) on top of the ship.

There are still three main restaurants onboard for your nightly dinner rotation , but two of them feature live entertainment during your meal.

There’s still a gigantic kids club area that takes up almost an entire deck, but it’s much more intricately themed than prior offerings.

There’s still a waterslide-type ride onboard, but it adds some video animation effects to “plus up” the ride.

We’ll go in-depth below about each of these categories — and more — to help you get you bearings on the newest Disney Cruise Ship.

Let’s start with an overview and review by our favorite Disney YouTube channel, The Vacationeer:

How is the Wish Different from Other Disney Cruise Line Ships?

The Disney Magic and Disney Wonder are sister ships to one-another, meaning that they are more or less structurally identical to each other.  Similarly, the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy are sister ships.  As of 2023, the Disney Wish is distinct from all other Disney Cruise Line Ships.  Disney Wish is expected to eventually have two sister ships: the Disney Treasure is set to begin sailing in December 2024, and the Disney Destiny is expected to be completed sometime in 2025.  Separately, another Disney ship — the Disney Adventure — is also expected to join the fleet in 2025, but it will be different from all the others.

Now let’s look at some of the major elements of this fantastic new ship!

Disney Wish Staterooms

A Disney Wish Verandah Stateroom

Let’s start by looking at where your own private quarters onboard the ship.  Your stateroom (passenger cabin) is the equivalent of your resort hotel room at sea, and this ship has plenty of them!

The Disney Wish has 1,254 staterooms.  Each of those staterooms falls into one of four primary types of rooms; each of those four types is further divided into multiple categories and subcategories.  Which category you choose will have a rather substantial impact on the cost of your cruise, so it’s wise to research ahead.

If you’ve never cruised before — or you’re just curious to see what the décor of these rooms is like — check out this general overview from The Vacationeer.

Here is a consolidated list of the room types offered onboard.  They are listed here generally from least expensive to most expensive, though there may be some price overlap among categories/subcategories.  (For a more in-depth look at each of these room types, see the descriptions and photos posted on our Disney Cruise Staterooms article).

Our Review of Disney Wish Staterooms

Our reviewers felt that the Disney Wish staterooms were generally a welcome evolution to the staterooms found onboard the Disney Dream and Fantasy.

The rooms struck a nice balance between being a simple “refresh” of the existing stateroom plans versus a more-radical “reimagining” of everything.  There was innovation to be found, but there was not necessarily any change just for the sake of changing.

With the same general features — but updated, fresher decor — they offered a bright retreat that never felt dark or enclosed.  There’s still plenty of room to stow luggage and belongings so you can truly “move in” for the length of your cruise.  Split bathrooms, which are crucial to the morning getting ready routing, remain as a standard feature in almost every category.

Some innovations came with slight drawbacks.  Compared to staterooms on earlier ships, we were happy to notice larger televisions — but with less of an ability to “articulate” them to face toward where you are sitting.  And there’s a new drawer-style refrigerator, which is perfectly fine for cans of soda, but may or may not be convenient for other items you’re chilling.

As far as cons go: the Disney Dream/Fantasy’s “magical portholes” (circular video screens with live video views of outside) sadly did not make their way to the Wish’s inside staterooms, which instead opt for giant mural-style artwork behind the bed.  And one could argue that perhaps just a bit of the “nautical” theme is gone from these stateroom versus those of the prior ships.  None of those is likely to bother you enough to make you rethink your voyage.

Disney Wish Dining and Lounges

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Pretty much everybody knows that one of the biggest draws on any cruise ship is the food.  The Disney Wish is no exception, with three outstanding main dining restaurants, two elegant adult-only dining options, and plenty of places to grab a quick meal or a snack on the go.

Cruise Dining Tip: Thanks to the international crew and clientele of Disney Cruise Line, you’ll often find international fare onboard the cruise ships. One of the things I look forward to on every cruise is my daily breakfast; that’s because in addition to the usual bacon and eggs, I can enjoy things I can’t normally get stateside — like a hearty bowl of European muesli with dried fruits and nuts, or even an Asian-inspired breakfast fried rice and miso porridge. At dinner, I’ll eagerly try something new and maybe even a little scary because it doesn’t cost anything extra to try!  Occasionally my suspicions that I won’t like something are confirmed in no uncertain terms, but most of the time I find myself pleasantly surprised.  Turns out I absolutely love escargot — who knew?! Either way, I’ve tried something new and the worst possible outcome is one unpleasant bite that didn’t lighten my wallet by a single penny.  So go ahead… order the pâté and broaden those cultural and culinary horizons!  You might just surprise yourself with how sophisticated your palate can be!

Here’s a video overview of dining onboard the ship; below, we’ll investigate each restaurant more completely.

Rotational Dining Restaurants on the Disney Wish

Like all Disney Cruise Ships, the Disney Wish offers something called  rotational dining during the nightly dinner service — a Disney Cruise Line innovation.  Rotational dining doesn’t mean you’re sitting in a revolving restaurant.  Diners are pre-scheduled to visit a different restaurant on each night of the cruise on a schedule called a dining rotation.

You pick a dining time when you make your reservation, but otherwise there’s no need to pre-reserve your spot.  You’ll always be at (for example) table 29 during the 8:15PM seating on every night of the cruise, no matter which restaurant you’re scheduled to be in.  And you’ll have the same waitstaff for the duration of the cruise, so they’ll get to know you, bring you your favorite drinks right away, and remember how you like your steak cooked.

Dinner at these three restaurants is included in the cost of your cruise.

You may also have a chance to dine at one of these restaurants for breakfast or lunch at no additional cost, but note that the menu will vary and you won’t experience any of the “show” aspects noted in the descriptions below.

Here are the three rotational dining restaurants on the Disney Wish:

  • Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure

disney wish cruise ship specifications

One of the most eagerly-anticipated experiences onboard is Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure .  At this restaurant, you’re an honored guest of Queen Anna and Kristoff as they celebrate their engagement (right around the time that the movie Frozen 2 ends).

Of course you’ll find Norwegian-inspired cuisine and Frozen-themed items, such as the Frozen Fractals cocktail, Worth Melting For non-alcoholic specialty drink, Elsa’s Royal Baked Scallops, Sven’s Favorite Carrot Soup, Arendelle Kjottkake (meatballs), Queen Iduna’s Potato Lefse, and Norwegian Pancake Roulade for dessert.

But the real star of dinner is the live entertainment.  Thanks to a stage at the center of the dining room, you’ll enjoy a great view of live musical performances from Elsa and Olaf, along with other frozen friends.  Even Wandering Oaken wanders in.  And thanks to a little Disney magic, you’ll feel as if you’re right in the middle of the Aurora Borealis (northern lights)

Our Review of Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure

Our reviewers were blown away by their experience here and ranked it as the top must-see, must-do, do-not-miss-it offering onboard.  The menu offered a nice mix that’s sure to please both those who are more adventurous eaters and those who would rather stick to things they know and love.

The food is good enough, but this experience is all about the show.

Thanks to a theatre-in-the-round setup, there’s a good view from pretty much anywhere in the dining room.  Our reviewers were seated outside of the central ring of tables, but still had a good view (with the exception of an occasional person walking between the tables and the stage).

They felt it was much better than a traditional character meal , even for jaded adults.  Compared to, say, a Cinderella’s Royal Table (Magic Kingdom) or Restaurant Akershus (EPCOT), the quality of the character entertainment and interactions is in a class by itself.  The characters sing and lead interactive activities, but also take breaks from the show to stop by and visit your table.  Even Olaf wheels in on a serving cart to delight diners (somewhat reminiscent of the table visits Remy made at EPCOT’s Chefs de France many years ago).

  • Worlds of Marvel

Experience a few miracles from molecules at Worlds of Marvel

This super hero themed restaurant offers a worldly menu inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  Like the Arendelle restaurant, there’s a “dinner and a show” aspect to dining at Worlds of Marvel .  You’ll also get an up-close (and maybe too personal) demonstration of Super Hero technologies, with appearances by Ant-Man and the Wasp.  Fortunately everything turns out alright in time for dessert.

Sample menu items include the Widow’s Bite cocktail, Steamed Bao Buns, Cream of Porcini Mushroom Soup, Berbere Spiced Pork Chop, Ricotta Gnocchi, and Subatomic Sticky Date Pudding.

Our Review of Worlds of Marvel

If you’re familiar with the Animator’s Palate level of interactivity onboard other Disney Cruise Ships, you’ll have the same  general idea about Worlds of Marvel.  Indeed, the Disney Wish is the first Disney cruise ship  not to have an Animator’s Palate restaurant onboard — and Worlds of Marvel is likely the closest to that type of experience you’ll find.

Our reviewers enjoyed the (admittedly limited) interactive elements of the show; much like onboard Mission: Space at EPCOT or Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you’ll find yourself tasked with pushing a few buttons on the Quantum Core device at your table to help solve a minor catastrophe.  You’ll have video visits from several characters in the Marvel Universe (yes, the original cast); you’ll also have a brief “walk-by” visit with Ant Man and the Wasp, but don’t expect any major character interactions here.

Our reviewers felt that overall the restaurant was a slight step down versus the Frozen-themed restaurant onboard.  The décor was impressive and the food was “just fine.”

Dine in the shadow of Disney studio inspired memorabilia

This restaurant offers a dining experience steeped in the golden age of Hollywood.  Named after the year the Disney brothers founded their first studio, you’ll enjoy the flavors of California while surrounded by relics reminiscent of the early days of animation.  You’ll be seated in either the Walt Disney section or the Roy Disney section, but no matter which you’re assigned to, you’re in for a feast for the eyes and the stomach.

Sample menu items include Hyperion Four-Cheese Tri-Color Tortelloni, Pulled Guinea Hen Corn Chowder, Italian Flat Parsley and Rosemary-crusted Rack of Lamb, Moroccan-Spiced Roasted Kabocha & Butternut Squash, Churros Calientes, and Flourless Orange Almond Cake.

Our Review of 1923

Our reviewers felts that dining at 1923 was like dining in a Disney museum (and that’s not a bad thing).  It was a treat to dine surrounded by historic sketches, tickets, and artwork.  There were lots of nostalgic and historic vibes, with an Old Hollywood menu to match.

They felt the menu was perfectly fine, but conceded that nothing they ordered reached “must do again” status.  Our group also dined at 1923 once for breakfast (as an alternative to Marceline Market) and was pleased with the offerings during that meal period.

There’s no entertainment at this restaurant; that’s not unexpected on most Disney ships — but for the Wish, it’s an outlier as the only rotational dining restaurant without a show.  As such, our reviewers felt that this was the restaurant to skip if you’re on a shorter cruise and need to pick a night to experience Palo Steakhouse or Enchanté.

Adult-Exclusive Dining on the Disney Wish

Lumiere leads the way to Enchanté

The Disney Wish boasts two fine dining establishments that are offered solely to passengers age 18+.  These dining experiences are not included in the cost of your cruise, so expect to pay a bit more for these unique experiences.  Dress codes also apply, so be sure to pack something nice to wear!

Chef Arnaud Lallement, a three Michelin Star recipient , brings world class luxurious dining onboard the Disney Wish.  This is the premier dining experience onboard, and is priced accordingly.

Enchanté offers dinner service, along with a brunch service on select days of the cruise.  For dinner, enjoy a six-course prix-fixe offering, or select from à la carte items such as Caviar, Wild Halibut, or Maine Lobster.  Menu offerings are rather limited, with a focus on artisanal quality rather than broad quantity.

  • Palo Steakhouse

Inspired by Beauty and the Beast ‘s Cogsworth, Palo Steakhouse is a bit different from the Palo restaurant that is already well-known onboard the four prior Disney cruise ships.  This version takes the Italian cuisine concept and elevates it into a steakhouse.

Sample menu items include an Antipasti, a 6oz Grilled Choice Angus Beef Tenderloin, and of course the famed Palo Chocolate Soufflé.  In addition to dinner, the beloved Palo Brunch is also offered here on select days of the cruise.

Our Review of Adult-Exclusive Dining on the Disney Wish

Our reviewers were somewhat limited in their ability to experience the actual cuisine onboard at these two restaurants during their christening, inaugural, and preview cruises.  They did, however, get a chance to tour the facilities and were impressed by the decor and ambiance.

A real bonus of these two restaurants is their outstanding views.  You’ll have a great chance to enjoy sweeping views of the ocean outside the windows while dining here, something that’s mostly missing in the three main restaruants.

Casual Dining on the Disney Wish Cruise Ship

Marceline Market is the top stop for breakfast onboard the ship

There are plenty of places to enjoy a low-key breakfast, lunch, or dinner onboard the ship.

  • Marceline Market

While you might be familiar with Cabanas on the previous four Disney Cruise Line ships, the large buffet-style restaurant on Disney Wish is called Marceline Market. The overall concept is the same — plenty of variety, already cooked, and ready to serve.  It’s great spot for breakfast or lunch — and even for dinner if you’re not thrilled with the menu at your assigned rotation restaurant.

One distinction versus Cabanas is that Marceline Market is set up a bit more like a farmer’s market in that there are individual “stalls” (stations) for different types of food rather than one long buffet line.  At some of these, you’ll serve yourself — at others, a crew member will dish up your food.

Marceline Market is the go-to spot for breakfast and lunch on the ship (though one of the rotational dining restaurants is usually also open for breakfast and lunch).  Almost everything here is included with the cost of your cruise, including sodas, juices, milk, tea, and traditional coffee.  If you want one of the specialty coffees or other premium drinks prepared at the restaurant’s “cafe,” you’ll need to pay separately for those.

At night, Marceline Market transforms into an alternative option for those not interested in dining at their assigned rotational dining restaurant (especially popular for folks who don’t want to observe a semi-formal or formal night on longer cruises).  During dinner, the restaurant provides a table service experience with entrees made to order (still included in the cost of your cruise).

Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods

Located on Deck 11 near the main pool complex is Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods. Here, you can grab a quick bite to eat without even drying off!  The hours are usually pretty generous, too, so if you miss regular lunch and dinner hours at the other restaurants you can still find food here most of the time.  But note that no breakfast items are served here.

This group of quick-service windows offers several unique options, such as Daisy’s Pizza Pies (pizza by the slice), Donald’s Cantina (tacos and burritos), Goofy’s Grill (burgers/dogs and chicken tenders), Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue (brisket/chicken/pork), and Sweet Minnie’s Ice Cream (as many soft serve ice cream cones as you can handle!).

Like Marceline Market, most of the items here are included with the cost of your cruise.  But you’ll still find specialty drinks available for purchase.

Our Review of Casual Dining on the Disney Wish

Our reviewers appreciated the variety of food offered at Marceline, and also the fact that they had a wide selection of beverages that were included without having to buy an additional beverage package like on other cruise lines.  (While Disney Cruise does offer drink packages for alcoholic beverages , it’s not necessary to purchase one just for sodas, coffee, tea, or juice — those are all already included in the cost of the cruise) .  The generous hours and wide variety of food offered kept our reviewers returning day after day to Marceline Market.

Our reviewers appreciated the convenience of Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods and also found the setup to be “super cute.”  The tacos met with approval, and others in the group who tried the barbecue were happy with their meals, too.  Both of those cuisines are first-time appearances onboard a Disney ship, so we were happy to hear they were well-executed.  They also found it to be a handy spot to stop for a quick snack when everything else was closed.

Lounges, Bars, and Snacks on the Disney Wish

No wretched hive of scum and villainy here! Hyperspace Lounge offers amazing views.

The number of bars and lounges onboard the Disney Wish are almost too numerous to list (though we do, indeed, attempt to do so in our deck-by-deck guide later on this page).  Here, we’ll point out a few of the highlights.

  • Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge

For grown-ups wanting to get their Star Wars fix, Hyperspace Lounge is a great spot.  This adult-exclusive lounge features exotic drinks along with a starfield view out the window thanks to some video technology reminiscent of that used in Skyline onboard the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.  You might even notice a few familiar spaceships jetting by the windows, in between the hyperspace jumps.

Our review of Hyperspace Lounge

Our reviewers placed Hyperspace Lounge among their top three onboard experiences.

The lounge was a bit tough to get into, thanks in part to its small size and big popularity.  When our reviewers visited, there was no reservation system in place and instead it was necessary to wait one’s turn.  Most folks ended up waiting in a de facto overflow space at the nearby Bayou lounge, which was a bit of a thematic “break” from the outer space story.

As such, our reviewers recommended seeing it as early in your voyage as possible… it’s small enough (and highly-anticipated enough) that it might take a few tries to get in.  You definitely don’t wait until 9PM on the last night of your cruise.

Two of our reviewers had also experienced the Galactic Starcruiser on land at Walt Disney World, and couldn’t help but draw comparisons to that location’s Sublight Lounge .  They felt that the land offering was much better because there were fewer limitations (thanks to not being shoehorned into the available space on a ship).  Between the two, Sublight Lounge (on land) felt more real than Hyperspace Lounge (at sea).

Our reviewers noted that while the Hyperspace Lounge was impressive, you might not feel like you have to go back every night… many travelers will probably enjoy it as more of a one-off experience once on their cruise.

  • Keg & Compass

Drink up at this Norwegian-inspired bar.  Keg & Compass is designed to feel like a viking ship, but with modern elements including TVs to catch up on the latest sports.  Enjoy three unique craft beers available exclusively onboard.

  • Nightingale’s

Fine Wines, handcrafted cocktails, and a shimmering chandelier set the scene at this chill piano bar aboard the Disney Wish.  Your piano player might even know a few obscure Disney parks tunes if you ask politely enough.

The drinkware itself even adds to the theme of this lounge, which is inspired by Cinderella’s rendition of “Sing Sweet Nightingale” from the 1950 Disney classic movie.

Sip a cocktail in an elegant setting, replete with antique mirrors and floating rose petals.  This elegant, adult-exclusive lounge is reminiscent of the enchanted castle from Beauty and the Beast, and is the perfect prelude or postscript to a sophisticated meal at Enchanté or Palo Steakhouse.

New Orleans-inspired cocktails and refreshments are served up in this informal lounge inspired by the magical marsh Disney’s The Princess and the Frog . Among the magnolia blossoms and twinkling fireflies, you’ll find live musical performances and other events.

Room Service on Disney Wish

Many Guests are surprised to learn that Room Service is included at no additional charge on their Disney Cruise.  Almost everything on the room service menu — with the exception of a few items such as prepackaged candies or canned soft drinks — can be brought to your room at no additional charge.  Just don’t forget to tip the Crew Member who brings the food to your door.

You can typically pick from several different salads, soups, burgers, chicken tenders, sandwiches, and hot wings.  You’ll also typically find a couple of flatbreads and pasta selections.  For dessert, cookies and slices of cake/pie are the standard.  A classic DCL favorite item is the  All Hands on Deck , a cheese and fruit plate that is perfect for noshing on as you watch the ocean go by.

If you don’t mind shelling out just a bit of cash, you can add on wines, beer, sodas, specialty coffees, juices, and the like.

Our Review of Room Service on the Disney Wish

Room service on the Disney Wish (or any other Disney Cruise Ship, for that matter) is usually perfectly fine, but there’s very little chance that it’ll be the most memorable meal you have onboard.

Depending on how busy they are, you might have to wait a bit of time for your food; 20-30 minutes is a typical wait time, but it can be longer during traditional meal periods.

Because your food is making an extended trip from the kitchen to your stateroom in a cloche-covered plate — and because your plated meal might have to wait a bit for a runner to become available to bring it to you — some menu items such as french fries and hot wings might not be quite as crisp or warm as you’d like by the time they reach you.

The menu is surprisingly complete, but not necessarily the most exciting.  We’ve never had a bad meal from room service onboard Disney Cruise Line, but none of them have been particularly spectacular, either.  Consider it a somewhat utilitarian option to get food in your stomach without having to change from your bathrobe, and you’ll be set up for room service success.

Best Bets for Each Meal on the Disney Wish

Below we list each of the main meal periods onboard the ship, and your best options for each.

  • Primary option: Marceline Market is where most of the ship goes for breakfast.  It offers generous hours, a very wide selection, and plenty of food so you don’t start your day hungry.  The downside of this location is that, well, it’s where most of the ship goes for breakfast.  It can feel a bit hectic at times and might even be a bit of a sensory overload that early in the day.
  • Secondary option: One of the three rotational restaurants — typically 1923 — usually offers a table-service breakfast.  The menu is a bit more limited than at Marceline Market, but this can be a less-hectic option than joining the masses there.  You’ll be served at your table — no roaming around to fill your plate or find a table.  And let’s be honest — some mornings, you just need a little more quiet time before you brave all those people .
  • Other options: You can opt for room service breakfast, but it’s not the best option.  Room service menu options for breakfast are extremely limited.  You won’t find any “hot breakfast” options — no eggs, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, etc.  You can get juices, coffees, pastries, cold cereals — and not much else.  Does room service breakfast have some merits?  Absolutely.  It’s delightful to have a croissant and a cup of coffee while sitting on your verandah balcony watching the sun rise — but in our view that’s sort of pre-gaming the “real” breakfast.  If you’re looking for a filling meal so you can start the day with a full tank, you’ll need to leave your room.
  • Primary option:   Like at breakfast, Marceline Market wins lunch thanks to its wide variety.  You’ll find flavors from all around the world, including some you might not get to experience back home.  Iced jumbo shrimp and crab claws are a favorite item, along with freshly grilled meats and plenty of side items.  And the desserts are not to be missed.
  • Secondary option: Should your idea of a perfect onboard experience include lounging by the pool all day, you’ll likely include plans to have lunch at Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods.  No need to dry off and head inside.  Just drip your way on over to the window, get your tacos or barbecue, and enjoy a quick meal.  The options are more limited than Marceline Market, but there’s still a surprising variety — great for families with a wide range of tastes.  It’s also a chance to give kids just a tiny bit of freedom (and feeling grown up) by having them go all on their own to the window to pick up their chicken tenders.  And the extended hours mean you can dine here even if you missed lunch hours at Marceline Market or get hungry before dinner time.
  • Other options: Room Service is another good option for lunch, with the obvious caveat that if you’re waiting in your room for your meal, you can’t be out enjoying the ship.  But if you’re taking a midday break, it’s a decent choice.  Your menu options won’t be that exotic, but you can still get a filling meal that won’t cost you anything extra beyond a tip and maybe an optional add-on like candy or soda.
  • Primary option: Your assigned rotational dining restaurant is  the place to be for dinner.  It’s the heartbeat of the Disney Cruise dining experience and your dedicated service team that follows you all voyage long can make it into something really special.  Don’t be shy… ask for two entrees.  Order three desserts. Calories don’t count on vacation!
  • Secondary option: As an alternative to your pre-scheduled rotational dining restaurant, you might opt to enjoy Marceline Market.  The restaurant will be an entirely different experience than the buffet-style offerings that are the mainstay of breakfast and lunch. You’ll be seated at a table, and a server will present you a menu that features some of the most popular selections from other restaurants. This is typically a rather laid-back meal without quite as much hustle and bustle as the main dining rooms.
  • Other options: Beyond the above two options, there are of course the adult-exclusive restaurants to pick from, though we’d hesitate to call them an “alternative” to your regularly-scheduled dinner; they’re a special experience in and of themselves.  Otherwise, you can always grab quick food from Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods up on the pool decks, or order room service.
  • Primary option: For those off-schedule cravings, your best bet is Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods. The generous “drop in almost anytime” hours make it a great choice starting around lunch time and going into the later hours around dinner.  And, while it’s still all-you-can-eat, individual portions tend to be a bit more “snack sized,” meaning it’s easy to grab a relatively light bite to keep you going without spoiling your appetite for your next big meal.
  • Secondary option: Room Service is the champ of anytime eating onboard, though you’ll certainly find a better variety at Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods.  With 24-hour operation, you’ll be able to order something from room service starting from the time you get onboard the ship all the way until around 1:30 AM on the very last morning of the cruise.  Whether you want a full meal, a midday snack, buffalo wings at 3AM, or just some cookies and milk at bedtime, it’s only a phone call away.

Most of your meals are included in the price of your cruise; but some specialty meals, alcohol, and the offerings at most bars and lounges cost extra.

Here’s a no-brainer tip on how to save money on those upcharge experiences — let somebody else pay for them!

Booking through a Disney Travel agent like The Vacationeer earns you an onboard credit that can be used to pay for drinks, specialty meals, and even spa activities and port adventures (shore excursions) .  Depending on the details of your cruise, this credit could be as much as $1,000 !

Disney Wish Pools and Water Slides

The entrance to the AquaMouse on the Disney Wish

Perhaps the most-anticipated addition to water activities onboard the Disney Wish is the AquaMouse.  Following in the dripping-wet footsteps of the AquaDuck (Disney Dream & Fantasy) and the AquaDunk (Disney Magic), the AquaMouse is a waterslide-type attraction.

Guests board a small two-person raft.  That raft then slowly carries them up a lift hill, during which time video screens mounted on the wall show very brief animations, drawn in the style of the newer Mickey Mouse short cartoons.

We’ve seen a few different storylines in our rides onboard, including one taking place in an alpine ski village, and another during a scuba diving adventure.

Once you’ve enjoyed your lazy lift to the top of the ride, the lift hill ends and the raft takes off for a brief splashy downhill ride.

Our review of the AquaMouse

Our reviewers felt the AquaMouse was the logical “next step” following the AquaDuck onboard the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

Disney has positioned the AquaMouse as its first ever “attraction at sea,” but it’s important to remember that the logistics of being onboard a cruise ship mean you shouldn’t expect a Pirates of the Caribbean caliber attraction.

Your ride consists of about 60 seconds of “story” (delivered via short video clips while your raft slowly climbs the lift hill), followed by about 35 seconds of riding down a tube of rushing water.  It’s still a perfectly enjoyable waterslide — just don’t hear the word “attraction” and expect audio-animatronics or an it’s a small world soundtrack.

The different storylines that are offered via the video clips help to add a bit of re-ride-ability to this relatively short attraction.  Without that change, most folks would likely ride it once and be on their way.

To some extent, the AquaMouse feels a bit like Imagineers are just starting to dip their toes into the concept of blending land-style attractions with waterslides — all while working within the limitations associated with operating onboard a functioning cruise ship.

We can’t wait to see the next one after they apply the lessons learned building this one.

Pools and Splash Pads

There’s no shortage of pools and water splash zones onboard; ten, to be exact!  Deck 11 is the home to most, though you’ll also find smaller ones scattered about elsewhere.  With multiple smaller pools rather than one or two giant pools, you’re more likely to find one that better fits the vibe you’re looking for… packed with kids so younger travelers can make new friends… secluded and adult-exclusive allowing for a more-relaxing experience… and everything in between.

Note that some pools may be unavailable during portions of the cruise so they can be covered and used as stages/viewing areas for live entertainment.

We offer a full list of every pool on board further down the page in our “deck-by-deck” section.  In the meantime, here are a couple of highlights.

  • Toy Story Splash Zone

For little tykes eager to make a splash, Woody, Jessie, and friends present a perfect place.  Much like the fun Finding Nemo splash zones onboard the Disney Wish and Fantasy, young kids not quite ready for the pool can splash in fountains, whisk down slides, and safely bounce around a bit on the soft padded areas while cooling off.

Adults will appreciate this pool, sundeck, and bar that’s made just for them.  We all love our family time, but there’s nothing like a little getaway just for the grown-ups while the kids are spending time at the youth clubs.

Disney Wish Kids Clubs and Teen Clubs

Disney's Oceaneer Club

The wide array of onboard youth activity clubs is a big reason why we named Disney Wish as the best Disney cruise ship for kids .  Kids who’ve sailed onboard a Disney Cruise before are no doubt still talking about the time they spent at the kids clubs onboard. In what seems to be a continuing theme of this article, the Disney Wish takes the concept to an entirely new level.  Let’s explore some of these dedicated spaces:

Disney’s Oceaneer Club

Become an intergalactic creature keeper at Star Wars: Cargo Bay

To access this exclusive space, kids age 3-10 literally slide down from the Grand Hall atrium into the check-in for the day.  Once they’re here, they can pick from several distinctly themed areas.

  • Marvel Super Hero Academy

Children become young Avengers, training alongside their favorite Marvel Super Heroes.  Spider-Man, Black Panther, Ant-Man and The Wasp are regulars here as kids team up, select their super suit, and battle infamous villains of the Marvel Universe.

Star Wars: Cargo Bay

Home to the Star Wars Galactic Creature Keepers adventure, kids here will become intergalactic creature handlers, feeding lifelike, interactive creatures and encountering some of the most dangerous beings in the galaxy. Don’t worry, though — with the help of Rey and Chewbacca (and the Force), everything will turn out just fine.

Fairytale Hall

Fairytales come to life in this royal retreat.  Enjoy visits from the Disney Princesses while making royal crafts at Rapunzel’s art studio, acting out stories in Belle’s Library, and crating a bit of ice magic at Anna & Elsa’s Sommerhus.

Walt Disney Imagineering Lab

This is the place for hands-on learning and fun.  A highlight is the ability to design your own virtual roller coaster, then hop inside a simulator capsule to experience it.

Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck

The youngest Oceaneers will enjoy this nautically themed play space.  Enjoy pipe slides, ship’s wheels, activities and games, and even an occasional visit from Captains Mickey and Minnie.

Our Review of the Oceaneer Club onboard the Disney Wish

Our review crew had no doubt in their mind that kids would fall in love with these spaces — because the grown-ups fell in love with them, too!

Thanks to open houses throughout the voyage, our crew spent probably more time than they’d like to admit playing along with the intergalactic adventures and super hero battles.  The slide to the kids club entrance was a big hit, too.

With so many activities and character experiences in these dedicated spaces, there’s virtually no chance of the kids coming back to the room because they’re bored!

The spot for tweens aged 11-14, Edge is a New York City inspired loft-style hangout.

Teens aged 14-17 will enjoy Vibe, a laid-back space that features movies and games.

  • The Hideaway

Older teens and young adults (age 18-20) have a space designed just for them onboard the Disney Wish — the first ever on a Disney cruise ship.  With a dance floor, DJ booth, and occasional karaoke contests, this space is a great “transition” space for those not quite ready to hit the adult clubs.

it’s a small world nursery!

Infants as young as six months old — up through toddlers just shy of their third birthday — are cared for in this secure nursery onboard.  Specially-trained counselors keep everyone fed, changed, happy, entertained, and ready for visits by Disney friends.  Fees apply.

Disney Wish Entertainment and Activities

Showtime at the Walt Disney Theatre

Your Disney Cruise is only as lazy as you choose to make it — there’s always something going on, so no one will ever get bored onboard!

Broadway-Style Shows

Disney Seas the Adventure live show onboard Disney Wish | Image © Disney

Disney Cruises have long been known for their abundant live entertainment — and especially for the Broadway-style performances staged nightly in the Walt Disney Theatre.  There are three primary shows onboard the Disney Wish, two of which were made exclusively for the new ship .

Disney Seas the Adventure

Start your cruise out right with Disney Seas the Adventure, an embarkation celebration on the first night of your cruise (not to be confused with the sail-away party that happens earlier in the day).  This nighttime performance starts out innocently enough, as Captain Minnie hands the helm over to Goofy.

The ensuing journey features a fabulous musical voyage into favorite films such as Hercules , The Princess and the Frog , Finding Nemo , Moana ,  Frozen II , and Brave .  As the show reaches its crescendo, a cavalcade of Characters leads Guests out of the theatre and into the Grand Hall for an unforgettable sendoff — the ultimate “kiss goodnight.”

Disney’s The Little Mermaid

This one-of-a-kind theatrical adaptation of the beloved 1989 Disney animated film was created exclusively for the Disney Wish.  With innovative theatrical design, dazzling special effects, and artistic choreography, the all-new script and score goes beyond the film to find new ways to delight.

Guests of all ages will delight in seeing the innovative puppets — reminiscent of those which debuted in Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s Finding Nemo: The Musical and Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! — which help bring favorite characters to life

Disney’s Aladdin — A Musical Spectacular

Already a favorite of those traveling onboard the Disney Fantasy cruise ship, Aladdin is also performed onboard the Disney Wish.  After all, how could you name a ship “Wish” and not have Genie represented?  Spectacular special effects and just a little magic from the lamp bring this timeless tale to the stage with music and comedy.

Pirates Rockin’ Parlay Party and Fireworks at Sea

Pirate Night holds a place of honor on many Disney Cruise itineraries, and the Disney Wish is no exception.  And once again, Disney Wish’s version seems to add just a little extra to the experience you find onboard the other ships.

The Disney Wish’s version of the pirate party features a rollicking rock-and-roll soundtrack of live music, remarkable stunts, special effects, and plenty of surprises.  The show is heralded by Captain Redd, descendant of the famous red-headed icon from the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. She and a band of head-banging buccaneers provide the soundtrack for an unforgettable night that includes Captain Jack Sparrow (you have heard of him?) and the industry-first fireworks display at sea.

Wonderland Cinema and Never Land Cinema

A Disney Cruise is a great way to catch up on the latest released from Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Lucasfilm.

Onboard most Disney ships, the Buena Vista Theatre is the place to go — but continuing with the bigger and better theme, Disney Wish is home to two movie theaters: Wonderland Cinema and Never Land Cinema.

There’s no need to buy a ticket — just find a seat and enjoy the show.  A nearby snack bar sells popcorn, candy, and soft drinks (for an additional charge).

Disney Uncharted Adventure

Following in the footsteps of onboard interactive experiences such as Midship Detective Agency (onboard the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy), Disney Uncharted Adventure is a new first-of-its kind experience that takes classic Disney storytelling to new heights.

The story goes that an unknown evil force has attacked the Wishing Star, splitting its magic into pieces that land in far-off realms. To bring back the Star’s powers, Captain Minnie needs Guests to help navigate the ship toward these uncharted worlds.

Guests onboard join Captain Minnie, Captain Mickey, and other favorite Disney Characters on a multidimensional search for the magic across storybook worlds.  You might spot Moana, Nemo, Princess Tiana, Peter Pan, and others through your “enchanted spyglass” (which looks suspiciously like your mobile device).  But don’t worry – you won’t be staring at your phone the entire time; rather, it’s a tool used to unlock magic all around the ship.  Just be sure you download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app before your cruise begins.

This versatile venue hosts action-packed physical challenges and game-show-style competitions, and is home to a sports court during other hours.  Check the onboard navigator app to see what’s happening each day!

Disney Wish Spa and Salons

Indulge in a spa treatment at Senses

There’s no shortage of places onboard to be pampered.  From spa treatments to salon stylings, you’ll be able to step out in high style on the high seas.

Let your troubles drip away in the Rainforest

Senses Spa and Salon

Like the other Disney Ships, Disney Wish features a Senses spa onboard .   Unlike the other ships, this one is in a league of its own.  In addition to the expected spa and beauty treatments, you can relax and unwind in the Rainforest — an indoor area with heated lounges, fountains, an aromatherapy steam room, a dry sauna and a calming pool; and an exterior area featuring shade canopies and refreshing outdoor pools.

  • Untangled Salon

Untangled Salon is the perfect place to let your hair down.  This high-end salon is inspired by Rapunzel from Disney’s Tangled , and offers a wide variety of hairstyling and other treatments.

Hook’s Barbery

Gents will enjoy getting a haircut, shave, or nail/skin treatment at Hook’s Barbery.  The upscale salon is inspired by Captain Hook’s private quarters aboard the Jolly Roger from Disney’s Peter Pan .  Guests 21 and older can also enjoy a hidden bar featuring the finest whiskies, bourbon, and rum — with drinks served during treatments and during select special events.

  • Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Fear not, princesses in need of a magical makeover!  The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique has made its way to the Disney Wish.  Youngsters can enjoy the same royal treatment they receive on land at Walt Disney World resort, thanks to a few Fairy Godmother’s apprentices who’ve made their way to the ship.

Our Review of Spa and Salon Services Onboard the Disney Wish

Our reviewers were astounded by the experience provided by the facilities at Senses Spa and Salon onboard the Disney Wish.  The unique outdoor relaxation area sets it apart from the Senses Spas onboard any other Disney Ship.  It easily ranked as one of their top three experiences onboard, and our review crew couldn’t stop raving about it.

The Untangled Salon and Hook’s Barbery are somewhat unexpected additions to the cruise, but are nonetheless welcome.  Gentlemen will appreciate getting an old-fashioned shave (not to mention a cocktail) at Hook’s while the ladies are getting coiffed at Rapunzel’s place.  We expect that the appeal of these two locations may be somewhat limited to most travelers, though they’ll certainly be popular for those choosing to have a wedding ceremony onboard the ship.

Spa treatments and salon services cost extra, but you can offset the cost when you book through a professional Disney Travel Planner such as The Vacationeer .

The Vacationeer provides its clients with onboard credits of up to $1,000 to use toward spa/salon services and other purchases on the ship!  What’s more, there’s no charge to use their planning services , and they always make sure you get the best possible price for your cruise.

Free help planning your cruise and free funds to use while onboard — it’s win-win!

Disney Wish Itineraries and Home Port

Port Canaveral

Image © Disney

Disney Wish Home Port

For the foreseeable future, Disney Wish will sail from Port Canaveral , Florida — one of three Disney cruise departure ports in Florida and the closest port to Walt Disney World.

Disney Wish Itineraries for 2024 and 2025

For 2024  and 2025 Disney Wish is sailing on 3- and 4-night Bahamian cruises from Port Canaveral Florida. Most include a visit to Disney’s Castaway Cay and to Nassau, Bahamas.

Does this Disney ship do themed cruises?

Some sailings in Fall and Winter will be themed as Halloween on the High Seas or Very Merrytime Cruises .

Our Review of the Disney Wish Itineraries

As far as itineraries go, we’re somewhat torn as to whether these are a win or a loss.

If we’re being pragmatic about it, we recognize that these shorter Bahamian cruises have been a mainstay of Disney Cruise Line since its earliest days.  We also know that Port Canaveral, FL is Disney’s truest “home port,” with year-round departures that are within an hour’s drive or so from Disney World.

So it’s no surprise that they’d want to have the newest ship, with all its hype, right “next door” to Orlando so people can easily extend their Walt Disney World vacation by tacking on a short cruise.  It also allows Disney to tap into the huge “locals” market of Florida residents who seem to flock to the latest-and-greatest that Disney has to offer.

Let’s also not forget that Disney research recently showed that an astounding 40%+ of their passengers said they wouldn’t have even taken a cruise if Disney Cruise Line didn’t exist; so it obviously doesn’t seem to matter where the ship goes as long as Mickey’s onboard.

But on the other hand, the itineraries are honestly somewhat of a snooze compared to the exotic itineraries you can have on other Disney ships.  We know many frequent cruisers who don’t even get off the ship when it docks in Nassau.

Castaway Cay is a Guest favorite, but for repeat travelers, even it risks becoming a bit too “been there, done that.” Some savvy repeat cruisers use Castaway Cay day as their opportunity to experience onboard activities with lower crowd levels while everyone else is out on the island.  (It should be a good day to ride the AquaMouse with less of a wait).

We’d have loved to have seen some newer itineraries offered for this new ship, perhaps blending a mix of Bahamian and Caribbean nation ports together for a cruise that you can’t get on any other Disney Cruise ship at present.

We’re honestly more excited that using newer ships on these tried-and-true Bahamian/Caribbean routes will now free up the other ships to start doing different itineraries in the future.  For example, it was announced during September 2022’s D23 Expo that the Disney Wonder would begin offering at least some cruises in Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific starting in late 2023.

Environmental Considerations

Disney Cruise Line says The Disney Wish is estimated to be nearly 30 percent more fuel efficient and emit approximately 20 percent less greenhouse gases. DCL indicates it remains committed to investing in our current fleet by utilizing new technologies, increasing fuel efficiency, and minimizing waste, including the fleet-wide conversion in 2020 to ultra-low-sulfur fuel that exceeds international maritime regulations.

The Disney Wish’s use of Low-Emission Liquefied-Natural Gas (LNG) eliminates nearly all sulfur oxides and particulate matter emissions, reduces the emission of nitrogen oxide by approximately 37 percent, and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 20 percent compared to traditional diesel or marine fuel.

Excess heat from the engines is re-purposed to warm the super-cooled LNG so it can be used to power the ship. Cold energy from the LNG tanks is then recycled into the ship’s energy efficient air-conditioning systems. This interconnected system saves 200 tons of fuel per year.

A demand-based heating and cooling system onboard adapts in real time to deliver the ideal amount of temperature-controlled air throughout the ship while saving nearly 700 tons of fuel annually.

The hydrodynamic hull and propeller reduce the engine power needed to propel the ship, saving nearly 1,800 tons of fuel annually and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 6 percent.

The ship’s prototype installation of a 1-megawatt fuel cell (to provide additional emission-free energy for onboard systems) will be one of the largest in a marine environment and will help to better understand the feasibility of large-scale fuel cell installations onboard cruise and shipping vessels, potentially driving industry-wide adoption of the new tech.

Final Thoughts on the Disney Wish Cruise Ship

Disney is a cruise line that favors quality over quantity.  While other cruise lines might have dozens of ships with a new one showing up every couple of years, Disney takes its time and works to get it right.

We might have had to wait ten years for a new Disney Cruise ship, but the wait was certainly worth it.  The Disney Wish is in a class by itself, with some innovative design features and guest offerings not found anywhere else.

Are there a few things we’d like to have seen done differently?  Sure.  With ten years of waiting — not to mention all the years of extra anticipation once the ship was announced — expectations are bound to be sky high, and wishing begins to fill in the holes left by an absence of details.  But despite that, even those who are jaded to the point that they’re bored by the same old ports and the same old cruising are sure to find something here that will wow you.

Our reviewers found the Disney Wish to be the ultimate family cruise ship , cementing its spot at the top of our list of the best Disney Cruise Ships .

Disney Wish: 9 things to know about Disney's newest ship

Summer Hull

It's official: Disney's "Wish" has indeed come true, as Disney Cruise Line 's first new ship in a decade has joined the fleet.

Disney Cruise Line describes itself as "where magic meets the sea" — and now that it's recently wrapped up a media preview sailing of the ship, we can confirm that it is not only magical but also absolutely beautiful and very different from the other four Disney ships .

For more cruise news, reviews and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .

Since 1998, Disney has embraced many of the same skills it uses while making its captivating movies to create a real-life setting on its first four ships that transports guests to a world where almost anything feels possible.

With its original class of ships, Disney introduced "magic" portholes in interior staterooms, fireworks celebrations at sea, paintings that "move," rotational dining rooms that transform and four age-specific kids clubs where children actually want to spend time.

Given the opportunity to design the first all-new Disney ship in 10 years and ultimately set the stage for the next class of ships at Disney Cruise Line, Disney Imagineers had both an exciting opportunity and an almost Herculean task of creating a whole new level of magic on the first of these new ships: Disney Wish.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Sailing from Port Canaveral for three- and four-night itineraries to the Bahamas for the foreseeable future, Disney Cruise Line's fifth ship is a stunning departure from its sister ships, to say the least.

Here are nine things unique to Disney Wish that we feel really set it apart.

Upgraded rooms and suites

disney wish cruise ship specifications

I'll happily admit to being a sucker for a suite at sea and Disney concierge service amenities, but all of the cabins on Wish are a big step up for Disney Cruise Line.

Disney Wish cabins have a more subdued and upscale vibe than the cabins on Disney's four other ships, with a fairy-tale aesthetic featuring flourishes of gold and hidden surprises, such as special lighting effects over the pull-out bunk bed for kids.

In total, there are 1,254 rooms, 70% of which have balconies (or verandahs, as Disney calls them). Additionally, more than one-third (451) have connecting doors. There is a record number of concierge-level staterooms and suites, too, with 76 available (double the number of concierge-designated accommodations you'll find on other Disney vessels).

Each one-bedroom concierge suite has a separate living room, walk-in closets, two 43-inch TVs and two bathrooms, one of which features a rain shower, a bathtub and a double vanity.

New to Disney Wish are seven ocean-view rooms located over the bridge — a first for Disney Cruise Line. These rooms have an extended living area with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the bow and ocean.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

And if all of that isn't enough, there are four royal suites with a "Sleeping Beauty" theme, two of which feature a wild, two-story floor plan. Hey, it's free to dream, isn't it? So, let's fantasize about the soaking tub, private hot tub, two master bedrooms, spiral staircase and two-deck-high stained-glass frieze.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

For cruisers who enjoy booking a room with access to the Concierge Lounge, Disney says it is more than triple the size of lounges on previous Disney ships, offering a "full bar, delicious light bites … an outdoor terrace with incredible views" and a special area for kids.

There is a private sun deck with two whirlpools, a wading pool and a bar, which is great news, as the main Disney pool areas tend to get pretty crowded.

If you want the best of the best, go for the almost 2,000-square-foot Wish Tower Suite, which is set in the forward funnel of the ship. It's hard to believe this is an actual place people can stay on a ship.

All-new on-ship attractions

Star wars: hyperspace lounge takes you to another galaxy.

I'll spare you the "out of this world" puns to describe the adult-focused Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge on Disney Wish.

However, after watching (and feeling) the ship make multiple jumps to hyperspace, I can tell you this is a must-visit spot to grab a drink. You'll love sipping a space-themed cocktail at the bar while watching ships pass by — even if you don't go for the $5,000 "Star Wars" drink .

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Ships from all timelines of the "Star Wars" franchise fly across seven monitors that feature such insanely high resolutions that it really looks like Star Destroyers, TIE Fighters, the Millennium Falcon and more are right outside. The Imagineers worked closely with Lucasfilm to unlock the entire library of ships. Every ship that whizzes by has a name, a story and a place in the greater "Star Wars" universe. You can expect to take that jump through hyperspace to a different part of the galaxy every seven minutes or so.

To keep things as comfortable and immersive as possible, the direction you fly on the screens is indeed the same direction the cruise ship is heading, giving the experience an even more realistic feel.

But this space doesn't merely focus on what is happening "outside" — there's a whole lot going on inside the high-end, sophisticated lounge as well. While it's not as immersive as Disney's other "Star Wars" bars when you factor out the high-tech windows, it's still a cool — and very popular — space.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge is open to families during the day, but every night starting at 9 p.m., the yacht-style lounge transforms into an adults-only venue ideal for kicking back and enjoying galactic-themed cocktails.

You'll enter the lounge via a room that is dark and serves as a "palate cleanser" from the rest of the ship. Then, once inside, everything from the custom furniture to the liquor bottles and specialty cocktails to the tap handles for the beer is themed accordingly.

As a child of the 1980s who lived and breathed all things "Star Wars" growing up, I had a blast enjoying a few otherworldly drinks from this gold-laden lounge with views of the universe beyond. It's no "Star Wars" hotel , but it's still pretty memorable.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

And, fine, maybe on my next Wish cruise I'll bring my kids here during the day, too.

The waterslide is more than just a waterslide

If you've sailed on Disney Dream or Disney Fantasy, you've likely experienced the AquaDuck waterslide .

Disney is calling the AquaMouse (the waterslide on Disney Wish) the "first-ever Disney attraction at sea," which is a big statement for a company that knows attractions.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

The AquaMouse, which any cruiser who is at least 42 inches tall can ride, features show scenes, lighting effects, a dark tunnel, an original soundtrack and more than 60 water effects for a two-minute ride that spans 760 feet of tubing above the upper decks (and there are two totally different experiences available ).

The waterslide had a few issues on our preview cruise, so not all the effects were working, but my understanding is that the two storylines (Port Misadventures and Swiss Meltdown) will be available on a schedule of alternating days.

These shows are done in the same style as the newer Mickey shorts and what is featured at Hollywood Studios' Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway. The cartoon scenes take place across multiple 85-inch screens during the 75 seconds you are traveling up the tunnel while you get soaked in a raft built for two.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

At the height of the show, you blast out of the tunnel and embark on a water ride around the upper decks. This ride also includes a series of speed blasters before its grand finale: a soaring loop over the edge of the ship. As an added bonus, you won't have to carry your own raft to the start of the ride.

I'm not sure the experience was so different than AquaDuck to label it a full-on attraction like you'd find in the theme parks, but it is certainly a waterslide worth checking out.

Lots of (really good) pools

One feature that was a bit under-hyped leading up to the first Wish sailing was the pools.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

There are more of them on Disney Wish than you'll find on the other Disney ships, and they are spread out, so you have a better chance of finding one that is tucked away and less crowded.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

The adults-only pool is especially worth mentioning, as it is an infinity pool that looks off the back of the ship. That said, all of the pools are much better than others I've seen on Disney Cruise Line.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

New rotational restaurants

The first four Disney cruise ships revolutionized dinner at sea by introducing a trio of themed restaurants where you — and the serving crew and other guests — rotate together throughout the nights of your cruise.

Disney Wish retains the rotational dining format but with a lineup of all-new dining experiences.

Worlds of Marvel

When it's your turn to dine in the Worlds of Marvel restaurant, which is the first-ever Marvel cinematic dining adventure, you'll have a role to play in saving the universe. As you eat at one of the 120 tables, you'll have access to a "quantum core" to use throughout your meal.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Between courses, all of which are inspired by the Marvel cinematic universe, there's a three-act event that starts off with Ant-Man and the Wasp doing a demonstration of what your quantum core can do.

During the main portion of the dinner service, the screens all around the room highlight the technology used by the superheroes, such as Captain America's shield and the vibranium that comes from Wakanda.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

The real excitement begins toward the end of your meal.

I won't give away the ending, but you can expect a supervillain as well as some extra help from "good guys" like Captain Marvel and Captain America. You'll also need to use your quantum core in the battle against evil, so don't fill up too much on shrunken desserts until you save the ship.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure

Next up on our foodie tour around the ship is Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure . This is Disney's first "Frozen"-themed theatrical dining experience.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

The show takes place immediately after "Frozen II" and celebrates the engagement of Kristoff and Anna with immersive live entertainment performed in the round of the dining room.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

The Arendelle menu is Nordic-influenced, though there are options from a little closer to home, too, should you prefer less-adventurous items. The food here was some of our favorite on the ship, and the show was also pretty top-notch. There's even a celebration line toward the end similar to what happens in Tiana's Place aboard Disney Wonder .

But seriously, don't miss this dinner unless you hate "Frozen," live music and all things fun. In that case, maybe consider booking Palo.

The last of Disney Wish's new rotational restaurants is 1923, which is named after the year the Walt Disney Company was founded.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Disney says this restaurant features the best of the golden age of Hollywood, with the style of the furniture inspired by what was actually in Walt's office. The menu pays tribute to the company's Californian roots, and the dining room has a more intimate feel thanks to being divided into two equal parts that mirror each other.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

While there are not any villains or live entertainment here, the more laid-back setting is much appreciated, especially if you're seeking a similar dining pace and styling to what's available on the first four Disney ships.

However, if you are on a shorter cruise and need to skip one or more of the included restaurants to try out one of the adults-only spaces, this may be the one to forgo, unless you prefer quiet dinners. You can also visit for breakfast or lunch on certain days if you're set on working it into your cruise.

Additional dining options

The list of places to eat aboard Disney Wish is actually even longer than the three previously mentioned rotational dining restaurants.

For those willing to spend a little extra (and lucky enough to snag a reservation), the adults-only restaurants on Wish shouldn't be missed. Options include Palo Steakhouse, which combines the best of high-end Italian cuisine with a steakhouse in a setting that features subtle nods to "Beauty and the Beast," and Enchanté, where French-inspired fare concocted by the same chef who was behind the food at Remy (an upscale restaurant on board Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy) is on the menu.

I tried out Palo while on Disney Wish, and it was over-the-top amazing when it came to the service, the views and, of course, the food itself.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Connecting both of these luxe dining options is The Rose, a lounge that offers wine, small bites and other adult-focused items designed for pre- or post-dinner enjoyment.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

These restaurants and the adjacent lounge are absolutely gorgeous, and the food ranks as some of the best I've ever had ... anywhere.

A meal at Palo will start at around $45 per person, though that's for the set menu. A la carte items where the price is not set are available, too. Meals at Enchanté cost $125 per person for the set menu or you can order a la carte dishes. At The Rose, drinks are by the glass, so you can pop in whenever you're free — and you should, as it's an incredibly elegant spot ideal for unwinding without kids.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

If you're looking for a casual venue to dine in with kids, be sure to check out the new version of the buffet: Marceline Market. Named after Walt Disney's hometown in Missouri, this eatery has 10 food stalls and a beverage center. Each station features a Disney movie theme, such as "Tangled," "Ratatouille," "Alice in Wonderland" or "Zootopia."

The food was delicious here, and I appreciated the addition of a place to order premium coffee and other beverages adjacent to the market. Know, though, that the seafood is a little hidden. You'll find it tucked away from the other stalls all the way in the aft.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

On the upper deck, you'll discover a number of poolside options, including Mickey's Smokestack Barbecue, Donald's Cantina, Daisy's Pizza Pies, Goofy's Grill and Sweet Minnie's Ice Cream.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

This food is vastly better than the pool deck food I've had on other Disney ships, so be sure to save time for at least one meal out on the deck. Don't skip the hot sauce bar, either.

A reimagined kids club

For families, one of the best parts of a family cruise with Disney Cruise Line is that kids often want to go to the complimentary kids clubs. This gives grown-ups a chance to have a drink, not rush through dinner and enjoy a few moments to themselves.

While this holds true on all the Disney ships, my 6-year-old never wanted to leave the kids club on Disney Wish.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

In a pure stroke of genius, Disney added a fun, unconventional way for kids to enter the Oceaneer Club. After checking into the kids club from the Grand Hall on Deck 3, children can zip down a magical slide that takes them straight into the space on Deck 2.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

In addition to the Oceaneer Club for kids ages 3 to 12, Disney Wish retains the cruise line's other kids clubs: Edge (for children ages 11 to 14) and Vibe (for teens ages 14 to 17). There's also the colorful Small World Nursery, which is a fee-based option open to the littlest baby and toddler sailors.

Kids club highlights include the Oceaneer Club's Marvel Super Hero Academy, where kids can design (and virtually fly in) their own super suit. This club also houses Rapunzel's Art Studio, Belle's Library and Anna and Elsa's Sommerhus, where there will be a variety of games with Olaf serving as the host. Additionally, there's a Disney Imagineering Lab that offers kids opportunities to design and virtually ride their own roller coasters and more — similar to how the real Imagineers take their concepts from the drawing board to actual attractions.

In Deck 5's tween club, Edge, kids can hang out in a New York City -inspired loft space with a faux-grass picnic area, photo walls and an entrance hidden behind a framed piece of art.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

And at the teen club, Vibe, the decor draws inspiration from a Parisian loft, offering lots of spots to lounge, watch movies, meet new people and play games. Honestly, this space looked so cool, I'd want to hang out there myself.

New activities for the family

Olaf's royal picnic.

If your kids have always wanted to celebrate summer via a picnic with Olaf in Arendelle's Castle, they are in luck on the Wish. Set in an indoor space with a backdrop of a meadow of flowers, Olaf's Royal Picnic features Olaf, Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and a song-filled picnic complete with a ton of goodies for the kids to keep.

Unlike the included rotational restaurants, this experience costs extra. Expect to pay a hefty fee of $220 per child and $69 per adult.

We weren't able to try it out during the media preview cruise, as it wasn't available for testing at the time, but we'll be sure to report back once we do.

Wishing wands

A Disney Cruise Line embarkation greeting was already extremely special, but the company has dialed up the magic for kids sailing on Disney Wish. Every child that boards the ship receives a wishing wand to make a "first wish" of the trip and to wish again in the Grand Hall on the final night of the voyage. The latter even features a special appearance by none other than the ship's Fairy Godmother, who kicks off a farewell show.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Inside Out: Joyful Sweets

If you've visited Vanellope's Sweets & Treats Shop on Disney Dream, you already know how big children's eyes can get over the massive sundaes and sugary concoctions.

On the Wish, there's a new dessert shop called Inside Out: Joyful Sweets, where about 40 flavors of gelato and ice cream are served.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

So far, I can vouch for the PB&J and Kit Kat gelato flavors — but really, you can't go wrong with any flavor you choose. There are even a few plant-based options available.

Should you crave a cupcake instead of gelato or ice cream, you're in luck: You'll have your pick of emotion-flavored cupcakes, such as Joy (lemon), Sadness (blueberry), Disgust (pistachio), Anger (red velvet) and Fear (bubble gum).

Fantastic adults-only spaces

While the kids are at the variety of clubs designed for them, adults can take advantage of spaces for the 18-and-older crowd. In fact, that's one reason why I love Disney cruises so much — the kids want to do the kids activities, which means adults get to enjoy amenities designed for us, too.

The adults-only spaces on Disney Wish are not clustered together in one area like they are on Disney's other ships. Instead, they are sprinkled throughout, with several located right next door to a kids club.

We've already talked about The Rose near Palo and Enchanté and Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, but on the same deck as the Hyperspace Lounge by the main kids club, there are two additional lounges worth noting: Nightingale's piano bar and The Bayou, a New Orleans -themed space inspired by "The Princess and the Frog."

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Both have delicious drinks, but Nightingale's offers a more upscale vibe than what you'll find at The Bayou, which features more of a full-on party setting, especially when live music is playing.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Additionally, this ship is the first in Disney's lineup to provide an outdoor space at its Senses Spa. It's an ideal place to relax while taking in the fresh sea air.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

For adults craving a pint, there is also the Keg & Compass pub, which draws inspiration from an 1800s Norwegian sailor's map room. It serves three custom craft brews you can only get on Disney Wish.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Lastly, there's a space made for adults seeking extra pampering beyond the spa. At the bright and airy Untangled Salon, you can treat yourself to a number of hair and nail services, including haircuts, blowouts and manicures.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

New Broadway-style shows and entertainment

Disney Wish has a full roster of new Broadway -style shows, along with several other new entertainment offerings.

On embarkation night in the Walt Disney Theatre, which now has an enchanted forest design, there is a "Disney Seas The Adventure" show that stars Captain Minnie, Goofy and other Disney and Pixar characters.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Disney Wish is also home to "A Treasure Retold – Disney The Little Mermaid," which is said to be an original Broadway-style stage adaptation of the 1989 animated movie — with a modern twist.

Additionally, the ship offers "Disney's Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular" on one night of every cruise. This show is a reimagined adaptation of the classic film, depicting it as a fast-paced musical comedy.

Don't forget to pack your eye patches and bandanas, as pirate nights are a go with a "Pirate's Rockin' Parlay Party." And yes, there are pretty substantial fireworks out on deck that night.

A 'hidden' layer of magic

While it wasn't quite operational on our preview cruise, a few months ago, Disney gave TPG a sneak peek at an all-new way that guests can become a part of the story of the ship — and even control some of what happens on board — via the Disney Uncharted Adventure interactive game.

This game continues the Disney tradition of using technology to unlock new ways to tell stories. The technology may be complex, but what shines front and center is the story and the magic it creates.

Before you even leave home for your Disney cruise, you'll learn a bit about how your phone will transform into a "spyglass" from Captain Minnie herself. Then, once you are on your cruise, you'll be able to join an interactive adventure to help recover pieces of a fractured wishing star that have landed in the worlds of Moana, Peter Pan, Princess Tiana and Nemo. You can do as little or as much of this adventure as you want.

While you do need a smartphone to participate, this isn't a game you play by yourself as you stare down at your device.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Instead, this adventure for the whole family takes you all around the ship as you complete parts of the quest. Using your spyglass, you'll see menu boards transform into messages from Princess Tiana, you'll find "hidden" constellations in the sky and perhaps even bring the glass slipper to life in the Grand Hall.

Those who participate in the Uncharted Adventure game will have the ability to unlock a hidden layer of magic all around the ship. This will all conclude with a big finale on the last night of your cruise when you help battle the evilest witch in the sea in an epic live event.

How to book the Disney Wish

You can book cabins on sailings starting in August 2022. Prices start around $3,000 for double occupancy or $5,000 if sailing as a family with two adults and two kids.

If you are not in a rush to board and are looking for a more affordable price, you can book a cabin for four people in early 2023 for about $3,000 or a cabin for double occupancy for about $1,700.

Disney Wish is based out of Port Canaveral and sails a mix of three- and four-night sailings to the Bahamas. Each includes a stop at Disney's private island, Castaway Cay. If you want more time on the ship, you can book back-to-back cruises to create your own seven-night journey.

Related: Best credit cards for booking a cruise

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Bookings typically require 20% down, with the full amount due closer to sailing. TPG has an array of tips to save money on a Disney Cruise that you can use to keep costs under control.

You can book directly with Disney Cruise Line or via a travel agent and potentially get goodies like an onboard sailing credit . TPG also has a Disney booking partner in Mouse Counselors , should you want assistance with booking your cruise.

Bottom line

Walt Disney himself once said, "We don't look backward for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things."

The creation of Disney Wish embodies this forward progress by charting its own path with a new style for staterooms, all-new restaurants, a different layout, additional pools, new ways to unlock "hidden magic" and more.

Disney Wish doesn't leave the past completely in its wake, though. The exterior of the ship retains that same modern classic design, and you'll still have access to beloved Disney characters, Broadway-caliber shows and entertainment on board.

Without question, Disney Wish is in a class of its own for Disney Cruise Line — at least, until the next two ships join the fleet in the coming years. I can't wait to sail it all over again.

Disney Wish Staterooms

Review: Disney Wish

Stateroom with verandah on Disney Wish

Reviewed by Susan B. Barnes

What is the line? Disney Cruise Line

Name of ship? Disney Wish

Passenger occupancy?  4,000

Itinerary? Three- and four-night cruises to Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney Castaway Cay

Disney Wish , the fifth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, set sail in July 2022 from Port Canaveral to the Bahamas and its private island, Castaway Cay, bringing with it all of the magic and hospitality we’ve come to expect from Disney.

Start out with the big picture—what is this cruise line known for?   Disney is all about the young and the young at heart, and that sentiment holds true for the entirety of the Disney Cruse Line fleet. From on-deck dance parties to dining with “Frozen” characters Elsa, Anna, and Olaf, and much more in between, passengers are invited to be a part of the all-ages fun on the Disney Wish .

Tell us about the ship in general. Disney Wish , which is slightly larger than the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy , was built in 2022 in Germany and arrived in Florida in June. The ship’s 1,254 staterooms—most of which have ocean views (70 percent of those have verandahs)—can accommodate up to 4,000 passengers. Three family restaurants, two fine dining spots, myriad casual dining spaces, and numerous bars and lounges are found throughout the Disney Wish .

One of the greatly anticipated highlights of the Disney Wish is AquaMouse, the first Disney attraction at sea that immerses guests in “The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse” by way of show scenes, and lighting and special effects, all in a 760-foot water ride that winds high above the ship’s upper decks.

Who is onboard? Board the Disney Wish and you’re sure to find everyone you can think of, from small families to multi-generational families to couples and groups of friends. Anyone and everyone who’s a fan of Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars will find their place on the ship.

Describe the cabins. My two friends and I stayed in a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah, which has a queen bed and a single convertible sofa, as well as a single pull-down bed; plenty of space for three women. The verandah had two chairs and was a quiet and lovely spot to watch the sunrise (if we were up early!) and the sunset.

One of the impressive key design features on Disney Cruise Line’s ships is its signature split-bathroom concept: one with a sink and a toilet, the other with a sink and shower; all cabins have bathtubs. Another is the cabins’ wealth of storage space, which is especially useful in smaller spaces that can easily become cluttered.

In addition to the Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms with Verandahs, which can accommodate up to four guests, Disney Wish also has its Deluxe Family Oceanview Staterooms with Verandahs, Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms and Deluxe Family Oceanview Staterooms that can accommodate up to five guests each; and Standard Inside Staterooms that can accommodate up to four.

Disney Wish ’s 76 concierge staterooms and suites, the most of any Disney Cruise Line ship, include seven exclusive ocean-view rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the bow; they’re the line’s first staterooms located above the ship’s bridge. Other staterooms in the class include Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah and Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom, both of which sleep up to five guests; the Concierge 1-Bedroom Suite with Verandah and Concierge 1-Bedroom Suite with Extended Verandah, both of which feature two full bathrooms and separate bedrooms and can sleep up to five.

The Concierge 1-Story Royal Suite with Verandah encompasses 1,507 square feet with two main bedrooms with walk-in closets, three full bathrooms, living and dining areas, three 43-inch LCD flat screen TVs, and a private verandah with whirlpool. The suite sleeps up to six guests.

Concierge 2-Story Royal Suites with Verandahs are 1,759 square feet with two main bedrooms with walk-in closets, three full bathrooms, living and dining areas, three 43-inch LCD flat screen TVs, and private verandahs with whirlpool tubs. The suites sleep up to six guests.

For those really wanting to splash out, the first-of-its-kind, Moana-themed Concierge Wish Tower Suite is perched high on the Disney Wish ’s funnel above the upper decks, accessible by private elevator. Within the 1,966 square-foot suite are two bedrooms with walk-in closets, a children’s bedroom with bunkbeds, and a library that can be converted into a bedroom; four-and-a-half bathrooms; a two-story living area with floor-to-ceiling windows; and a grand staircase connecting the spaces. The Wish Tower Suite sleeps up to eight guests.

All concierge guests aboard the Disney Wish are invited to enjoy exclusive access to the Concierge Lounge and a VIP sun deck on Deck 13 with whirlpools and a wading pool.

Accessible staterooms and those equipped with communication features are available in nearly all of the ship’s categories.

Tell us about the crew.   “Be our guest” is a sentiment the crew aboard the Disney Wish takes to heart, and they go above and beyond to make you feel right at home from the moment you step on board. From the cabin stewards to the lifeguards at the pools and beaches to the dining, bars, activities, and island teams, everyone is ready to make your cruise a memorable one.

What food and drink options are available on board? There is absolutely no chance of going hungry on the Disney Wish , starting with the casual Marceline Market and its 10 tempting food stalls for casual dining for breakfast and lunch, and table-service at dinnertime.

Another casual option is Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods, an open-air dining concept on the upper decks with poolside-friendly barbecue, tacos and burritos, pizza, burgers and hot dogs, and ice cream. Elsewhere on the ship is a gelato and candy shop, specialty coffee bar, a place for beignets and plenty more.

One of Disney Cruise Line’s traditions is its family dining concept in which families rotate through the ships’ three main dining rooms. The Disney Wish features three new restaurants, starting with 1923, an elegant celebration of the year The Walt Disney Company was founded, combining Hollywood glamor with the Disney whimsey.

Diners are in the middle of the adventure in “Avengers: Quantum Encounter” in Worlds of Marvel, the first Marvel cinematic dining adventure featuring Ant-Man and The Wasp. Get ready for an interactive dining experience as you help keep the the Quantum Core out of the wrong hands.

The third dining experience on the Wish is a Nordic one—Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure, featuring Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and, of course, Olaf. During dinner, live musical performances in-the-round will keep everyone entertained.

Another of Disney’s family dining concept that really resonates with guests is that your dedicated dining team travels with you to each restaurant, welcoming you by name to the table, bringing your favorite beverage without having to ask, and remembering any special considerations when it comes to food preparation.

To that end, the Disney Wish offers vegetarian and vegan options at every meal, including in the dining rooms and grab-and-go spots, and pays close attention to any allergies or restrictions. For example, one of my friends is vegan, and Melissa, the lead of our dining team, made sure to point out the dishes my friend could enjoy for dinner.

In addition to all of this, the Disney Wish has two fine dining restaurants for which you’ll want to be sure to make reservations: Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté by Michelin-starred Chef Arnaud Lallement. Both spaces are intimate and elegant, and dining in either—or both—will be memorable.

After dinner, or before—or, why not both!—visit any of the Disney Wish ’s bars and cocktail lounges. Of note, The Rose is a chic lounge at the entrance of Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté. Aside from its signature Rose cocktail (Komos Reposado Rosa, Grand Marnier Cuvee Louis Alexandre and Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Rosé served in an elderflower-smoked dome), another cocktail to try is the light and refreshing Monkey Spritzer (Monkey 47, Cointreau Blood Orange, Cranberry and Evian Lemon Ginger).

For the best old fashioned on the ship, stop into the not-so-hidden bar at Hook’s Barbery and have the barber/bartender craft a glass for you. The bar at Hook’s also features bourbons, vintage whiskeys and ports, aged rums and other premium spirits, served in an intimate setting.

Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge is the hottest ticket on Disney Wish , and it’s not surprising because it’s the first of its kind. Step into the luxurious yacht-class spaceship and sip out-of-this-world cocktails, wines, beers, and zero-proof drinks. Or, go all-in and order the $5,000 Kaliburr Crystal, considered “the galaxy’s rarest and valuable cocktail.” While inside, you may just find yourself traveling past the Millennium Falcon on your way to Batuu, Coruscant, Mustafar, or Tatooine.

And that’s just a small taste of the bars and lounges on the Disney Wish !

Is there a spa on board and is it worth visiting? Find serenity at Senses Spa with private treatment rooms and spa villas for couples to enjoy. Traditional spa services like massages, facials, and skin-enhancing treatments are on the menu, along with acupuncture and pain management therapies.

Just off of the spa is an expansion of Disney Cruise Line’s signature Rainforest experience, now with the line’s first ice lounge, in addition to sensory spa showers, and sauna, steam  and dry rooms. A dedicated outdoor relaxation space with day beds and loungers complete the relaxing setting.

Tell us about the activities and entertainment.   It’s nearly impossible to be bored on the Disney Wish , what with the ship’s daily schedule of fun-filled activities, and all of the space to explore, including its six pools.

One space that’s new to Disney Cruise Line is Hero Zone, a futuristic sports arena that combines athleticism and imagination that hosts game-show-style family competitions. It’s also open for one-on-one games of foosball, air hockey, and even basketball on a full-size court.

Disney Uncharted Adventure is a first-of-its-kind interactive experience that takes guests throughout the ship, uncovering constellations that take the shapes of iconic Disney and Pixar characters. Using a spyglass that’s accessible by the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app, Captain Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse guide players to adventures with characters including Moana, Tiana, Tinker Bell, and Nemo.

Disney once again brings its energetic, Broadway-style performances to the Disney Wish with two brand new shows. “Disney Seas the Adventure” is an original musical that’s performed on embarkation nights and features popular Disney and Pixar characters like Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Tiana, Elsa, Moana and Merida. The second new show performed in the Walt Disney Theatre is “Disney The Little Mermaid,” an original adaptation of the beloved 1989 Disney Animation film developed exclusively for the Disney Wish . A reimagined Disney Cruise Line favorite, “Disney’s Aladdin—A Musical Spectacular,” rounds out the trio of live stage shows. In addition to its on-stage performances, the Disney Wish has two 80-plus seat state-of-the-art movie theaters, Wonderland Cinema and Never Land Cinema, that screen classic and first-run films from Disney, Lucasfilm, Marvel, Pixar, and more. The two theaters are the first in the cruise industry to feature Dolby Atmos 3D audio to enhance the movie-watching experience.

How was the experience for families? Families are the stars of the show on Disney Cruise Line, and it’s no different on the Disney Wish, with dedicated clubs for kids of all ages, starting with the Disney’s Oceaneer Club for kids ages 3 to 12. After their parents check them in, kids can ride the slide from the Grand Hall on deck 3 to the club on deck 2. There they’ll find the Marvel Super Hero Academy, New Adventures at Star Wars: Cargo Bay, Fairytale Hall, the Walt Disney Imagineering Lab, and A Celebration of Exploration at Mickey and Minnie Captain’s Deck for the youngest sailors.

Edge and Vibe is a space for kids 11 to 17 to chill on their own. Tweens ages 11 to 14 can hang out Edge, a space inspired by a New York City loft. Vibe is where teens 14 to 17 can watch movies, play games and make the Parisian artist’s loft-inspired space their own.

It’s A Small World Nursery provides baby-sitting services for kids ages 6 months to 3 years old, complete with play room with favorite Disney characters and even a toy train.

All kids’ clubs are overseen by Disney-trained counselors.

Where did it sail and how were the excursions? Did anything stand out? Our three-night itinerary sailed from Port Canaveral to Castaway Cay, Disney’s exclusive private island in the Bahamas. The expansive beaches are lined with plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas to accommodate everyone onboard the ship, and complimentary open-air dining spots and (not-complimentary) bars are at-the-ready for eating and sipping tropical umbrella drinks. There’s even exclusive Castaway Cay souvenirs available in the on-island shops.

Activities on Castaway Cay vary from snorkeling and a 5k running and walking course to boat rentals and Pelican Plunge, a 2,400 square foot elating platform complete with water-play area and two waterslides.

Adults (18+) who are ready for some quiet time can ride the tram to Serenity Bay with its own dining spot and bar, and open-air massage cabanas for even more relaxation.

Are there any stand out sustainability or green initiatives about this cruise?   On the environmental front, Disney Wish is powered by liquefied natural gas, making it nearly 30 percent more fuel efficient and reducing its greenhouse gases emissions by approximately 20 percent. Other ways the ship minimizes its environmental impact: biodegradable straws; washable dinnerware instead of single-use plastic utensils; and recycling condensation from a/c units to fresh water used in onboard laundry facilities and cleaning the ship’s outer decks that will save approximately 7.5 million gallons every year.

Anything we missed? For all of the family and adult-designed fun on the Disney Wish , the decor of the ship itself is elegant, starting in the Grand Hall and cascading down hallways and staircases. More than 4,400 works of art hang on the walls, and the ambient music gently complements the design.

Once you book a cruise on the Disney Wish , everything is taken care of, from transportation to and from the port, to every last comfy detail in your stateroom, freeing up your time to make lasting memories.

Disney Wish: A Complete Guide to What’s On Board

by Heather Adams | Sep 19, 2023 | Disney Cruise Line , Disney Wish

Discover the staterooms, dining options, entertainment, and more that awaits cruise goers sailing on the Disney Wish.

Planning to set sail on a cruise aboard the Disney Wish? First announced back in 2016, this incredible ship set sail for the first time in 2022 and has been welcoming guests aboard ever since. We’re breaking down everything you need to know about this Disney Cruise Line ship, from the staterooms available to different dining options to entertainment onboard.

About the Disney Wish

  • Entertainment

DLR Magazine Annual Digital Subscription

Wdw magazine annual digital subscription, wdw magazine monthly digital subscription.

First announced back in 2016, the Disney Wish was officially announced in 2019. It first set sail on its maiden voyage from Port Canaveral on July 14, 2022, cruising through the Caribbean with stops in Nassau and Castaway Cay.

As the first Triton class ship added to the Disney Cruise Line fleet, the Disney Wish is a truly special vessel. The ship weighs 140,000 tons and offers enough room for 2,500 guests on board. That’s larger than the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy – but the Disney Wish features the same number of staterooms, offering the perk of increased space for guests.

On the stern of the Disney Wish, you’ll find Rapunzel and Pascal. But there’s another special character at the heart of this particular Disney Cruise Line ship: Minnie Mouse. During the keel laying ceremony for the Wish, it was revealed that Captain Minnie was on the specially-minted coin made for the keel and the ship’s bow artwork. Captain Minnie is also at the helm for each sailing (so keep an eye out for her while you’re on board!).

Inside the Grand Hall, where you’ll be welcomed aboard the Disney Wish, you’ll find a life-size Cinderella statue waiting. As you step further into the ship, you’ll find there are 14 decks to explore, with everything from staterooms to restaurants to entertainment venues to pools and recreation areas spread across them. Learn more about all of the exciting offerings below!

Where Does the Disney Wish Sail?

The Disney Wish is based out of Port Canaveral, the home port of Disney Cruise Line. From Port Canaveral, the Wish embarks on three- and four-night sailings to the Bahamas. Every sailing includes a stop at Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island available exclusively for those who sail on Disney Cruise Line ships.

Staterooms on the Disney Wish

There are 1,250 staterooms aboard the Disney Wish – and there’s a whopping 11 different types of staterooms to choose from. You’ll have plenty of options, whether you’re looking for a luxurious two-story stateroom or a smaller interior stateroom that’s solely for resting at night. Best of all, there’s a unique perk to the Wish’s staterooms: the staterooms are more spacious than those on other Disney Cruise Line ships .

Additionally, the Wish offers a wide selection of staterooms with an ocean view; in fact, most rooms on board offer a view of the sparkling sea! Here’s a look at the different types of staterooms you can book.

Inside Staterooms

On the Disney Wish, you’ll have one inside stateroom option: a Standard Inside Stateroom . There is no exterior or ocean view to be found in these rooms, but they do sleep up to four adults in total.

Oceanview Staterooms

When you opt for an oceanview stateroom, you’ll enjoy similar room sizing and layouts as inside staterooms. Each Oceanview Stateroom includes a large porthole that looks out onto the open ocean as you cruise. You can opt for either a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom or a Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom , depending on how many people you’re traveling with. While a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom sleeps up to four adults, a Family version can sleep up to five.

Verandah Staterooms

If you’re hoping to spend some time taking in the ocean air on a private deck of your own, a stateroom with a verandah is the perfect choice. Verandah staterooms include a private verandah just for your cruising party. You have two choices on the Disney Wish: either a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah or a Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah . These staterooms sleep four and five adults, respectively.

Being a Princess is Exhausting – Mermaid Solid Color Tote

Being a princess is exhausting – mermaid watercolor tote, dlr castle by sunset art quality poster with hanger, issue 95 – once upon a time, concierge staterooms.

If you’re looking for a stateroom that offers an elevated cruise experience, concierge-level rooms offer exactly that. On Disney Cruise Line ships – including the Wish – concierge staterooms are similar to club-level rooms at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts. These rooms come with a higher price, but you’ll get more personalized service, special access to a lounge, and other perks not available with a typical stateroom.

When it comes to accommodations and options, there are six types of concierge staterooms :

  • Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah
  • Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom
  • Concierge 1-Bedroom Suite with Verandah (or Extended Verandah)
  • Concierge 1-Story Royal Suite with Verandah
  • Concierge 2-Story Royal Suite with Verandah
  • Concierge Wish Tower Suite

Each one of these concierge stateroom types offers a different layout and room for a variety of group or family sizes. Three of them – the Concierge Family Oceanview, Concierge Family Oceanview with Verandah, and Concierge 1-Bedroom Suite – can sleep up to five adults. Concierge 1-Story Royal Suites and Concierge 2-Story Royal Suites can sleep up to six, while the Concierge Wish Tower Suite has enough room for eight.

Dining on the Disney Wish

You’ll find a whole host of dining options on the Wish, whether you’re searching for a midday meal, a quick snack, or something to satisfy your sweet tooth. With formal dining options as well as a buffet, room service, and grab-and-go casual choices, there’s something for every taste and every day of your sailing.

Like all other Disney Cruise Line ships, the Disney Wish offers rotational dining for dinners. This allows you to try each of the main restaurants onboard during your sailing, though you can choose to skip a night or two of rotational dining and secure a reservation at a different restaurant not included with your sailing instead (at an additional cost). Here’s a look at all of the dinner options on the Wish :

  • Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure
  • Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement (reservations required)
  • Palo Steakhouse (reservations required)
  • Worlds of Marvel

Beyond rotational dining – and meals other than dinner – you can also grab a bite at these casual restaurants :

  • Inside Out: Joyful Sweets
  • Marceline Market
  • Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods
  • Wheezy’s Freezies

Entertainment on the Disney Wish

The entertainment roster onboard the Wish is filled with activities for guests of all ages. From pint-sized fun for little cruisers to adult-only spaces to shows for everyone, there’s always something to do while you’re at sea. Here’s a look at the different entertainment options you can explore during your sailing:

  • Olaf’s Royal Picnic , a character dining experience
  • Character meet and greets inside the Grand Hall
  • Visit Luna , an entertainment hub that’s home to Villains Game Night, Disney Songbook, and Uncharted Adventure
  • Catch Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular inside the Walt Disney Theater
  • Hero Zone , a sports arena and obstacle course with activities for all ages

Disney Wish cruise ship design and features

Disney Wish will be larger than Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy , the first two ships in the fleet that entered service in 2011 and 2012 respectively. Its design centres around a motif of ‘enchantment’, which will be expressed through a range of Disney stories that will be represented onboard, including Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel.

The Disney Cruise Line tradition of an elegant, classical exterior design will be continued with Disney Wish in the emblematic colours of Mickey Mouse, a cartoon character created by The Walt Disney Company. The new cruise ship will feature filigree artwork of Captain Minnie Mouse on the bow, while the stern will feature a custom sculpture of Rapunzel, a fictional character in one of Walt Disney’s feature films.

The 341m-long, 144,000t Disney Wish cruise ship will feature 1,250 guest staterooms to accommodate up to 4,000 guests.

The ship will feature The Grand Hall, a three-storied fairy tale castle-inspired atrium with bright, airy, and elegant space, which will serve as the gateway for guests as they first step onboard the rest of the ship.

The Grand Hall will include an oversized chandelier and its design will be finished with Gothic, Baroque, and French Rococo architecture influences that will be prominent in the columns, carvings, trimmings, and adornments of the hall.

The base of the grand staircase in the Grand Hall will feature a bronze statue of Walt Disney’s Cinderella character. Other design features of the Grand Hall include stained glass railings and floor carpeting embellished with icons from the Cinderella film. The hall will also include delicate metalwork and light fixtures inspired by Cinderella’s carriage and glass slipper.

Staterooms and accommodation

Staterooms onboard the ship will include four categories – Inside (121), Outside (1,133), Verandah (948), and Oceanview (185). Some of the staterooms will be accessible for persons with disabilities.

The Standard Inside stateroom is expected to have more space than that of similar category rooms of other cruise ships, while the Deluxe Oceanview stateroom will offer passengers views from the window of the room.

The Deluxe Oceanview stateroom with verandah will be equipped with more square footage and a private place offering views of the sea. Staterooms in the Concierge category will include one and two-storey royal suites with verandah, one-bedroom suite with verandah, and family staterooms with verandah.

Propulsion and performance

Disney Wish will be equipped with a liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered propulsion system. It will be the first ship among the Disney Cruise Line fleet to feature an eco-friendly LNG drive system. The ship will be able to achieve a cruising speed of 19.5k and a maximum speed of 23k.

Itineraries of Disney Wish

The maiden voyage of the cruise ship is planned to start in June 2022, featuring a special five-night trip with stops in Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.

The inaugural season will see Disney Wish leave its new homeport of Port Canaveral, Florida, to undertake three- and four-night cruises to Nassau and Castaway Cay. Bookings for the season will be opened to the public on 27 May 2021. The itinerary also includes a three-night, members-only cruise to Castaway Cay.

Contractors involved

Meyer Werft, a German builder of luxury passenger ships, was contracted by Disney Cruise Line to build three new cruise ships, including Disney Wish.

The shipyard built the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy ships for Disney Cruise Line under a previous contract.

Here are more Disney Wish ship facts.  The Disney ships are painted in Mickey Mouse-inspired colors – black hull, white superstructure, yellow trim and two giant red funnels, each with the Disney Cruise Line Mickey Mouse logo.

Disney Cruise Line was the first cruise line to have yellow lifeboats, instead of the traditional regulation orange. Disney was granted special permission from the U.S. Coast Guard to paint the lifeboats yellow, to keep with the special color theming of the ship.

Disney ships are the only cruise ships to have four captains – the ship’s captain, Captain Minnie, Captain Hook and Captain Jack Sparrow.  Disney Wish is the first Disney cruise ship to have Minnie as her captain.

Offer free soft drinks any time of day or night, with a free 24/7 beverage station offering sodas, coffee, tea and water.

In a cruise industry first, most staterooms on Disney ships feature a split “bath-and-a-half” design, providing families the added convenience of a sink and tub/shower in one room and a sink and toilet in a separate room.

The ship’s horn on the Disney Wish is a prominent element of the “Sailing Away” deck party at the start of every cruise and is quite the musical talent. The horns are able to sound the first musical line of “When You Wish Upon a Star” as well as the second line of the song (“makes no difference who you are”) plus, several measures of “Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me),” “It’s a Small World,” “Be Our Guest,” “Hi Diddle Dee Dee (An Actor’s Life for Me)” and “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes.”

The character on the Disney Wish’s stern is Repunzel.  Every Disney Cruise Line ship has an atrium lobby statue celebrating a classic Disney character. The Disney Wish’s bronze-cast pièce de résistance is Cinderella.

The water coaster on the Disney Wish is a first-ever attraction at sea.  It is 760-feet long and the ride is 2+minutes with water effects, lighting effects with music track and show scenes.  Walt Disney Imagineers elevated the AquaMouse water coaster on the Disney Wish in order to maximize space on the deck. And with the AquaMouse in place, they had room for their imaginations to concoct yet another family activity on the Disney Wish – Toy Story Splash Zone play area for younger kids.  This area have a water slide themed to Toy Story called “Slideasaurus Rex”.

At 1,119 feet, the Disney Wish is longer than the height of the Eiffel Tower in Paris (1,063 feet) and longer than the height of New York City’s famous Chrysler Building (1,047 feet).

A leader in family entertainment, Disney is the only cruise line to first-run feature films, including films in 3-D, with movies premiering at sea on the same day that they are released on land.

Disney Wish: Everything You Need to Know About DCL’s Newest Cruise Ship

A highly-anticipated cruise ship for 2022, Disney Wish is the first new ship for Disney Cruise Line in ten years. Here’s everything you need to know about this exciting new DCL cruise ship.

Disney Cruise Line fans have been waiting a decade for a new cruise ship—the last new DCL ship, Disney Fantasy , had her maiden voyage in 2012.

But the wait is finally over! Disney’s brand new ship, Disney Wish , set sail on her inaugural voyage in July 2022.

Disney Wish is the first of three Triton-Class DCL ships to be built at Meyer Werft in Germany through 2025. All three ships will be slightly larger than Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy , and will be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), one of the cleanest-burning fuels in the marine industry.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Disney Wish ‘s five-day inaugural sailing on July 14, 2022, cruised from her home port at Port Canaveral, Florida to Nassau, Bahamas and Disney’s private island destination Castaway Cay.

Theme and décor on Disney Wish

Inspired by tales of wishes come true, Disney Wish ‘s design concept is enchantment, the theme of countless cherished Disney tales.

According to Laura Cabo with Walt Disney Imagineering, Imagineers created “a breathtaking new world of enchantment aboard the Disney Wish . This motif provides the perfect platform to infuse Disney storytelling into every aspect of the design, giving the Disney Wish its own unique personality and a completely new look unlike anything else at sea.”

The enchantment motif on Disney Wish is evident throughout the ship, with storybook-inspired guest staterooms, a magical-forest-themed theater, and the breathtaking Grand Hall with its wishing star chandelier.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Each evening, the fairytale Grand Hall comes to life with shimmering pixie dust and lighting effects. This enchanted atrium is the starting point for all your magical adventures on board.

Attractions on Disney Wish

From thrilling waterslides to peaceful escapes, Disney Wish features attractions for every kind of cruiser, whether you’re young or just young-at-heart.

The 760-foot AquaMouse waterslide will send you on thrilling twists and turns high above the upper decks. This multimedia water ride experience—the first Disney attraction at sea—begins with the animated short collection The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse .

With theme park-level special effects, AquaMouse immerses riders in the worlds and characters of everyone’s favorite Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars adventures.

Adults can enjoy the kid-free tranquility of Quiet Cove , where you can relax, sip cocktails, enjoy a swim, or soak in the hot tub. This isolated adults-only refuge features a luxe infinity pool and poolside bar, as well as an elegant café.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Pools and water features

Disney Wish is home to more pools and water play areas than any DCL ship yet! On the upper decks, you’ll find a whopping ten pools and water play areas, all inspired by Mickey and friends.

Entertainment on Disney Wish

Like all DCL cruise ships, Wish offers a broad menu of entertainment options on every sailing: stage shows and cabarets, festive deck parties, fun family activities, and more.

Walt Disney Theatre

Inspired by Disney’s legendary animated film Fantasia , the opulent, 1274-seat Walt Disney Theatre hosts original Broadway-style productions. Its magical décor evokes an enchanted forest, keeping with the ship’s theme.

Theater productions include Disney Seas the Adventure , featuring favorite Disney and Pixar characters, and Disney The Little Mermaid , a stage adaptation of the 1989 animated film.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

This new entertainment hub offers interactive programming and live shows during the day and into the night. Family-friendly entertainment is the priority until the evening, when Luna transforms into an adults-only entertainment venue.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Competitive cruisers will want to check out Hero Zone , a futuristic sports arena. Guests will need to use their imagination as well as physical skill to beat other cruisers in action-packed challenges. Family groups can get in on the action with Hero Zone’s game show-style competitions.

Movie theaters

Movie buffs will love that Disney Wish features two intimate screening rooms on board. The Wonderland and Never Land Cinemas show first-run films as well as the classics from Disney, Pixar, Lucasfilm, Marvel, and more.

Dining aboard Disney Wish

Disney Wish offers a variety of dining venues—you’ll find quick bites, casual dining, and gourmet cafés, along with three elaborately themed main dining rooms and two for-a-fee specialty restaurants.

The ship features three brand-new family dining concepts, offering diners live character performances, interactive fun, or simply tasteful elegance.

Of course, all Disney ships also offer 24/7 complimentary room service from a limited menu.

DCL tip: If you’re new to cruising with Disney, you’ll want to read my How Does Dining on Disney Cruise Line Work? It’s a bit different than on most other cruise lines!

Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure (rotational dining)

Fans of the animated films will love experiencing Disney’s first Frozen -themed theatrical dining venue aboard the Disney Wish . Favorite characters, including Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and Kristoff, bring the world of Arendelle to life with live performances and table visits during your meal.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

The menu at Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure features a fusion of traditional Nordic flavors and ingredients with modern, world-class cuisine. Entrées include free-range chicken with estragon wild mushrooms and a potato fried in duck fat, or seared Chilean sea bass with a mélange of fresh vegetables.

Worlds of Marvel (rotational dining)

The new Worlds of Marvel restaurant on Disney Wish , the first-ever Marvel cinematic dining experience, lets guests play a role in an Avengers mission. While assisting Ant-Man and The Wasp, diners can interact with a tabletop Quantum Core to super-charge the venue with pulsating energy.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

The Worlds of Marvel menu is inspired by both the real and fictional settings of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Sokovia, Wakanda, and New York City.

1923 (rotational dining)

The elegant 1923 restaurant, named for the year The Walt Disney Company was founded, is a celebration of Disney’s legacy and the golden age of animation.

The venue’s two rooms—one named for Walt Disney and the other for Roy O. Disney—feature nearly 800 pieces of artwork, illustrating the evolution of Disney animation over the past century.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

1923’s dinner offerings showcase the company’s California roots, mixing South American, Asian, and European cuisine in an elegant fusion.

Think tatsoi salad with Bartlett pear, manchego cheese, and walnuts, or an ahi tuna starter with porcini mushrooms.

Marceline Market (complimentary)

Disney Wish is the first DCL ship without a Cabanas buffet—but don’t worry, they’ve replaced it with a new buffet concept: Marceline Market .

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Named after Walt Disney’s hometown of Marceline, Missouri, the buffet offers ten food stations, each themed around a Disney animated film.

DCL offers an ever-changing menu for the whole family at the buffet, including American classics and international specialties. Here you’ll find hearty comfort food, seafood, soups and salads, baked goods, and desserts.

Marceline Market also features a bar area, as well as plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods (complimentary)

Reminiscent of the seaside boardwalk setting in classic Mickey Mouse animated shorts, Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods is located on the upper decks.

This open-air dining venue has five food stalls: Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue, Donald’s Cantina, Daisy’s Pizza Pies, Goofy’s Grill, and Sweet Minnie’s Ice Cream.

With DCL’s first quick-service BBQ and Mexican-inspired options as well as American classics and soft-serve ice cream, the Festival of Foods is the perfect spot to grab a quick lunch, dinner, or anytime snack.

Palo Steakhouse (fee-based)

The new Palo Steakhouse is an evolution of the fan-favorite Palo restaurant aboard the other DCL ships. This adults-only venue combines authentic Italian dining with modern steakhouse classics.

In an elegant setting inspired by the enchanted clock Cogsworth from Beauty and the Beast , the dining spaces feature rich wood accents and artistic details evoking gears and pendulums.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

Guests can choose from a selection of Italian specialties and prime steaks, including Australian Wagyu, and Japanese Kobe or Miyazaki. Of course, Palo’s beloved chocolate soufflé is on the menu, served hot with chocolate and vanilla bean sauces.

Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement (fee-based)

Foodies looking for an elegant evening will want to check out Enchanté , the most luxurious dining experience on the ship.

disney wish cruise ship specifications

With a gourmet menu crafted by chef Arnaud Lallement (owner of the three-Michelin-star L’Assiette Champenoise in France) and romantic décor inspired by Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast, this adults-only venue is just right for a special dinner.

VESSEL REVIEW | Disney Wish – Disney Cruise Line adds fifth newbuild to fleet

disney wish cruise ship specifications

US cruise company Disney Cruise Line (DCL) recently took delivery of a new cruise ship built by German shipyard Meyer Werft.

The Lloyd’s Register-classed Disney Wish is the fifth ship in Disney’s current fleet as well as the third DCL ship to be built by the same yard. It has a length of 1,119 feet (341 metres), a beam of 129 feet (39 metres), a draught of 27.2 feet (8.3 metres), a gross tonnage of 144,000, and accommodations for 5,500 guests and 1,555 crewmembers. These attributes also make it the largest ship in the current DCL fleet.

Disney Wish is the first of Meyer Werft’s Triton-class, a new series of three ships to be equipped with an LNG propulsion system to ensure significant reductions in emissions of CO2, NOx, and particulate matter. The hybrid LNG-electric propulsion arrangement includes five MAN 12V 51/60 engines, two ABB 26,100hp (19.5MW) azimuthing pod thrusters, and four bow thrusters. The ship is capable of sailing at a service speed of 22 knots and a maximum speed of 24 knots.

Around 90 per cent of the ship’s 1,254 staterooms are outside cabins, which also include balcony staterooms and premium single cabins and suites with concierge services. Each stateroom is also adorned with framed custom-made artwork on the walls. Many of the outside cabins each have split bathrooms with one room having a sink and shower and a separate room fitted with a sink and toilet.

Disney Wish sails under the flag of the Bahamas and is homeported in Port Canaveral, Florida, from where it has already begun serving itineraries that include Nassau and Disney’s private island resort destination of Castaway Cay. Sister ship Disney Treasure and a yet unnamed Triton-class ship are under construction at Meyer Werft and are scheduled to enter service between 2024 and 2025.
