Enhypen Talk Embarking on First World Tour After Debuting Amid Pandemic: 'Everything's New'

The K-pop group announced fall tour dates, including six stops in the U.S.

Mackenzie Schmidt is the Home and Travel Editor for PEOPLE. She's worked at PEOPLE for over five years as a writer and editor on the Lifestyle team.

enhypen world tour atlanta

Nearly two years into their K-pop stardom, Enhypen will finally get to perform offline on their first world tour.

On Thursday night, the group announced via social media that they'll embark on a series of fall shows, including six U.S. dates — in Anaheim, Fort Worth, Houston, Atlanta, Chicago and New York — in October, as well as several in Korea and Japan.

Aside from the stops, which were released on social media , details of the shows are still under wraps. "We can't say too much about the tour right now. All I can say is that we're very, very excited. We're really looking forward to it," Jake, 19, tells PEOPLE.

The seven-member group — which also includes Jungwon, 18, Heeseung, 20, Jay, 20, Sunghoon, 19, Sunoo, 19, and Ni-Ki, 16 — debuted mid-pandemic in November 2020. So despite having released four mini-albums (the latest, MANIFESTO: DAY 1 , dropped Monday and sold 1 million copies in two days) and racking up fans around the world, they've never actually played an official concert, and their experience as idols has been largely in isolation.

"Still, everything's new," says Jay, a Seattle native who moved to Korea in elementary school. "This album is the first [time] that we can do offline programs."

They got a taste of that in May, when they played an in-person set for their fans (known as Engenes, a play on "engines") as part of the KPOP.FLEX festival in Germany. They've also performed remotely for TV shows, including The Kelly Clarkson Show . But the upcoming tour will be another level they're eager to tackle.

"This is the first time meeting that many Engenes in one venue, so I'm very excited," says Heeseung. "I'm really looking forward to it, but it's also our first time doing the performances in a really long time. So I think we have to get really ready for it."

While they promise diligence in their tour prep, the group's aesthetic for MANIFESTO: DAY 1 paints a different picture.

"Our overall concept is troublemakers," says leader Jungwon. "So we're wearing these outfits that give off this kid gang vibe and using spray paint."

The album's six tracks follow suit, while sampling styles from rap to alternative rock. "We're trying many different genres to find our definitive colors and our style," explains Jake.

The first single, "Future Perfect (Pass the MIC)," they say, draws on Chicago Drill, a rap style made famous by artists like Chief Keef, and presented a unique challenge for the group.

"We have a lot of members who really love hip-hop, so we listen to it a lot in our daily lives, but we never expected that we were going to try this hardcore genre," says Sunghoon. "It was new to us. So we gained a lot of help from our producers."

The group's complex and athletic dance style suits it well. The "Future Perfect (Pass the MIC)" music video (top), which also came out Monday, was choreographed in collaboration with Nick Joseph , who's worked with their label-mates BTS (Enhypen's label BELIFT LAB is an offshoot of BTS's HYBE).

The single's moves are "the hardest definitely. By far," says Jake.

Adds Ni-Ki, "Performances are our strong suit, so every time we come back with a new album we need to outdo ourselves."

The album name, MANIFESTO, is also meant to convey an image of strength and a powerful sense of self, something the group, which was formed on the reality competition show I-LAND , has put a new focus on.

"We still have that image, a group made through this show and we want to really shed that. I think those thoughts are really well contained in this album," says Jungwon.

"Future Perfect (Pass the MIC)," for example, contains references to earlier songs including the I-LAND theme and singles "Given-Taken" and "Tamed-Dashed," mixed with lyrics about breaking out and visuals including setting a hooded figure aflame, all implying a sort of kiss-off to their earlier iterations.

We talked a lot amongst ourselves and discussed how we can show an upgraded and improved version of ourselves," says Sunoo.

Jungwon also notes, "All the members participated in the album making, from lyric writing and production to the storyline." Jake was the first to have his lyrics make a final track, "SHOUT OUT."

"I remember when I first got the demo, [the producers] told us this song was going to be the song where we can really connect with our fans, so when writing the lyrics I was really imagining interacting with Engenes and performing in front of them," he recalls. "When I heard that my lyrics got chosen, I was very honored."

Another first can be found in the final song, "Foreshadow," which includes three languages: Ni-ki, who was born in Japan, speaks in Japanese; Jake who's Australian, was in charge of English, and all the members took part in the Korean portions.

As they tick off career goals — they've been featured by TIME , made the year-end "Best Of" lists of NME , DAZED and others, and, perhaps most importantly for their fanbase, boast 11 million followers on TikTok — the members are determined to push even further.

"We have been on this journey for the last two years and we've received so much love that we feel really grateful," says Heeseung. "But we are not going to stay complacent. We're gonna keep going up and work even harder to move Engenes all over the world."

ENHYPEN completes US leg of ‘Fate Plus’ world tour in 5 cities

K-pop idol group ENHYPEN finished the US leg of the “Fate Plus” world tour with an electrifying show at Belmont Park’s UBS Arena on May 4.

After completing their three sold-out shows in Seoul, ENHYPEN embarked on their US tour with shows in 5 cities: Anaheim, Oakland, Tacoma, Rosemont, and Belmont Park.

ENHYPEN at Belmont Park's UBS Arena (Belift Lab)

The Tacoma Dome served as a special hometown show for Jay, who returned to the Seattle area for the first time in eight years.

After the concert, Heeseung, Jay and Ni-ki were invited by the Seattle Mariners to throw the ceremonial first pitch, presenting their influence beyond the realm of music.

ENHYPEN showcased their vibrant charms throughout the three-hour spectacle, delivering high-energy anthems such as “Drunk-Dazed” and “Blockbuster,” along with “Fever” and “Still Monster,” as well as youthful melodies like “Attention, please!” and “Tamed-Dashed.”

In particular, Ni-ki amazed the crowd with his solo dance break of “Chaconne.”

“Fate Plus” marked ENHYPEN’s comeback to the US in six months with the aim of connecting with ENGENEs (fans) in cities that were not in the previous tour, “Fate.”

They surprised ENGENEs with different cover performances for each stop, delighting audiences with renditions of popular hits like Bazzi’s “I Don’t Think I’m Okay,” Keyshia Cole’s “LOVE,” and One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful.”

At Belmont Park, ENHYPEN said, “The energy we received from ENGENEs throughout the tour was truly remarkable. Like the name of the tour, we believe ENHYPEN and ENGENEs are fated to be together. We’re committed to continuously striving to present our best in appreciation of the love and support we’ve received, and we’ll return to the States soon as our better selves.”

After the US, ENHYPEN will be heading to Japan to hold 11 shows in five cities starting in June.

They will release their “Dark Moon Special Album Memorabilia on May 13, which will feature six tracks, including the lead single “Fatal Trouble,” along with unit tracks “Teeth” (featuring Jungwon, Heeseung, Sunoo and Ni-Ki) and “Lucifer” (featuring Jay, Jake and Sunghoon).

Enhypen Comeback 2024: New Album Release Date Revealed

Music label Belift Lab has recently confirmed the release date of  Enhypen ‘s new album. The rising  K-pop  act released their previous extended play, Orange Blood, in November 2023.

Enhypen  debuted in 2020 with EP Border: Day One. The six-track extended play sold over 747,502 copies in South Korea, peaking at the top of South Korea’s Gaon Album chart and ranking number 14 on the US World Chart. Since their debut, the septet has released over five extended plays and two full-length albums.

Enhypen’s new album release date confirmed

Enhypen’s new album will  reportedly  be released on  July 12, 2024 . The boy band’s entertainment agency, Belift Lab, confirmed the news. They stated, “ENHYPEN is slated to make a comeback on July 12. The details will be provided at a later date.”

ENHYPEN NEXT COMEBACK MID-JULY! Remember when ni-ki said: ?: …the first album (memorabilia) is for build up and the next one is a lot in [terms of] QUANTITY…” More songs will be coming this july! Let’s practice achieving our goals for memorabilia! pic.twitter.com/sqHZBv2H17 — 달 (@nksunbaem) May 14, 2024

Enhypen recently released a special album,  Memorabilia , to celebrate the prequel release of their Dark Moon webtoon. The latest album consists of five tracks — “One In A Billion,” “Criminal,” “Fatal Trouble,” “Teeth” (vocals by Jungwon, Heesung, Sunoo, and Ni-Ki), “Lucifer” (vocals by Jay, Jake, and Sunghoon), and “Scream.”

Earlier, group member Ni-Ki teased the upcoming release, stating the comeback could have more songs than Memorabilia. Enhypen fans speculate the forthcoming album could be another full-length album from the singers after their 2021 Dimension: Dilemma release.

Meanwhile, Enhypen recently wrapped their  Fate Plus  leg of the 2024 world tour. The group performed at five US venues, including Honda Center in Anaheim, Oakland Arena in Oakland, Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Allstate Arena in Chicago, and UBS Arena in New York. Some of the most popular tracks from their Fate Plus tour were “Drunk-Dazed,” “Fever,” “Still Monster,” “Polaroid Love,” “One and Only,” “Fate,” “Criminal Love,” “Bite Me,” and “Orange Flower.”

However, for fans who missed their live concert, the group will be back on the live stage in June at the Weverse Music Festival. Before the comeback, Enhypen will also participate in Weverse Con 2024 on June 16, 2024, at Inspire Entertainment Resort in Incheon, South Korea.

ENHYPEN Drop Dark Moon Special Album 'Memorabilia,' Out Now

Earlier this month, ENHYPEN concluded the U.S. leg of their world tour.

K-pop powerhouse ENHYPEN has dropped the Dark Moon Special album MEMORABILIA.

Produced as a limited edition, MEMORABILIA marks a significant milestone as the very first physical album released based on HYBE’s Original Story. ENHYPEN’s collaboration with the DARK MOON series, a webtoon featuring characters inspired by the members that accumulated more than 180 million views globally, reaffirms the band’s position as trailblazers paving the path for the next form of entertainment.

This 6-track album musically explores the themes that resonate with both ENHYPEN and the DARK MOON series, such as ‘fateful love’ and ‘existential crisis as vampires.’ Meaning collectibles and souvenirs, MEMORABILIA also brings the original story to life through physical elements that represent the characters and the story, enriching listeners’ engagement with the series.

The lead single “Fatal Trouble” is a Rock/Ballad track that portrays the turmoil surrounding a once cherished love, disrupted by an unexpected arrival of Selen, who resembles the main female protagonist, Sooha. The track crescendos with ENHYPEN’s powerful vocal harmonies and poignant melody, culminating in an emotional outpouring.

Along with “Fatal Trouble,” MEMORABILIA features previously released tracks – “One In A Billion” (2022) and “CRIMINAL LOVE” (2023) – which capture the essence of the DARK MOON: THE BLOOD ALTAR narrative. Newly added track “Scream” embodies the boys’ ambitions to forge ahead despite the myriad of obstacles they face in navigating the boundaries between humans and vampires.

Notably, MEMORABILIA introduces ENHYPEN’s first unit tracks. “Teeth” (featuring JUNGWON, HEESEUNG, SUNOO and NI-KI) conveys the duality of vampiric power and emptiness the boys feel, while “Lucifer” (featuring JAY, JAKE and SUNGHOON) expresses the anguish of the vampire boys.

ENHYPEN stated, “MEMORABILIA is like the musical embodiment of the DARK MOON series and ENHYPEN’s narrative. The album’s genre-spanning tracks masterfully portray the diverse emotions and stories from the webtoon, adding depth and significance to the connection between ENHYPEN and the seven vampire boys.”

Earlier this month, ENHYPEN concluded the U.S. leg of their world tour, ENHYPEN WORLD TOUR ‘FATE PLUS,’ enthralling ENGENEs in 5 cities across the States. The powerhouse band is now gearing up for the Japanese leg of the tour set to kick off in June, where they will headline 11 shows in 5 cities.

About ENHYPEN:

ENHYPEN is the first boyband created by BELIFT LAB, consisting of members JUNGWON, HEESEUNG, JAY, JAKE, SUNGHOON, SUNOO, and NI-KI. Inspired by the ‘hyphen(-)’ that connects one word to another, ENHYPEN means that seven different boys connect to discover one another and grow together. Upon their official debut in November 2020, ENHYPEN broke out into the global K-pop scene and began smashing from day one with 1st Mini Album BORDER : DAY ONE, achieving the biggest first week sales for a single album among K-pop groups to debut the same year. In three years, the K-pop powerhouse came to possess three Billboard 200 Top 10 albums—3rd Mini Album MANIFESTO : DAY 1 (July 2022), 4th Mini Album DARK BLOOD (May 2023), and 5th Mini Album ORANGE BLOOD (November 2023)—which debuted on the Billboard 200 at No. 6, No. 4, and No. 4 respectively. After triumphantly headlining arenas in 12 cities worldwide for their first world tour ‘MANIFESTO,’ ENHYPEN embarked on their second world tour ‘FATE,’ marking their momentous U.S. stadium debut. Armed with authentic stories in their music and multi-talented presence on stage, ENHYPEN continues to capture the attention of viewers worldwide while performing on global shows like Good Morning America and The Kelly Clarkson Show.

About BELIFT LAB:

BELIFT LAB is a label founded jointly by CJ ENM and HYBE, created with the goal of developing idol groups targeting the global market to drive the mainstreaming of K-POP while redefining and innovating the label business. Artists under this label include ENHYPEN (debuted in November of 2020) and ILLIT (debuted in March of 2024).

ENHYPEN’s FATE+ Tour is everything and more

ENHYPEN’s FATE+ Tour is everything and more

The Honda Center in Anaheim, California was abuzz with fans on April 24, adorned in their best outfits and decked out in their favorite member’s merchandise, eagerly anticipating K-pop sensations ENHYPEN to approach the stage for their first show of their US encore tour: FATE+.

Although the group was in Los Angeles last October for their initial FATE World Tour, this show felt extra special as this was the first venue the group had ever performed in the United States during their MANIFESTO Tour in 2022. Some fans, like myself, had only been outside the venue for a few hours, while others who were fortunate enough to score VIP tickets had been camped outside for upwards of three days. As is common with K-pop concerts, fellow ENGENES — fans of ENHYPEN — were passing out freebies to commemorate the event; I left with a dozen or so photocards, friendship bracelets, candy, small banners, and a few posters of the members. When the doors opened at 6:30 p.m., the race to get into the venue was astounding, and everyone was ready to rush to their seats to await the group’s arrival.

The set was no different than what I remembered from ENHYPHEN’s previous tour: a main stage connected to a platform extension that went out towards the crowd. With lightsticks in hand, I waited alongside 18,000 other ENGENES with bated breath as the lights dimmed and the introductory music began to play throughout the arena. As soon as the first member, Jake, appeared through the fog and red lights, the screams were unimaginable; as the group said themselves, it was the most energy they had seen from a crowd in ages. The first wave of the concert started with members Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Ni-ki sporting navy and white bedazzled suits to play some of their top hits from their older albums, such as “Drunk-Dazed;” “Blockbuster;” “Flicker;” “Fever,” my personal favorite; and a track off their new album, “Still Monster.” It was at this point, around 20 minutes into the set, that I had lost my voice from singing along and cheering for the members as each of them appeared throughout the set. When the introductory songs wrapped up, the members greeted fans in English and noted that their goal throughout the night was to strengthen the bonds between ENHYPEN and ENGENES.

A quick costume change later, ENHYPEN was back on stage to perform crowd favorites “Future Perfect (Pass the Mic)” and “Blessed-Cursed,” followed by more high-energy songs such as “Attention! Please,” and “ParadoXXX Invasion.” Fans who attended the last tour would remember this sequence well, as the setlist thus far was identical to last October’s FATE Tour, minus the addition of “Still Monster.” This section of the set concluded with “Tamed-Dashed” and the tradition of throwing a football signed by all seven members into the crowd as an homage to the track’s music video. Right before his part to open the chorus, Heeseung kicked the ball into the crowd towards the right side and told the fan who had caught it that it was now their “treasure forever.”

Four of the members exited offstage to prepare for their unit performance while Heeseung, Ni-Ki, and Jungwon were left to their own devices to entertain the crowd. They decided to do a singalong where they encouraged fans to sing snippets of “Future Perfect (Pass the Mic),” “One and Only,” and “Orange Flower,” a track off their most recent album, “Orange Blood.” After laughing at the English-speaking crowds attempting to sing their Korean lyrics, they parted from the stage as the other four members (Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, and Sunoo) returned to do an acoustic rendition of “TFW (That Feeling When).” It was at this time that the tears started flowing, and I was inconsolable. The remaining members then came onstage to perform a piano version of “Just a Little Bit,” which preceded their performance of “10 Months.” To round off this section of the set, they performed their Pokemon collaboration song “One and Only” their iconic song “Polaroid Love” wherein they ventured safely into the crowd for a little fan-artist interaction, and tear-jerker “Shout Out,” which yielded a lot of fan sing-a-longs.

The Honda Center pulsed with anticipation as ENHYPEN took the stage for the “Dark Blood” and “Dark Moon” finale. Dressed in dark suits with splatters resembling blood, they captivated the audience with “Chaconne” and “Bills,” showcasing their vocal prowess and emotional depth. Since “Dark Blood” was my top album of the year, this segment during the previous tour was my favorite, and this time around was no different. Transitioning to their “Dark Moon: The Blood Altar” soundtrack songs, “Criminal Love” and “One in a Billion,” they immersed fans in a world of darkness and desire. Closing with the energetic “Fate” which led into “Bite Me,” they left the crowd electrified, culminating in a show-stopping performance that showcased their artistry. With the echoes of “Bite Me” fading, ENHYPEN bid farewell, leaving behind a night of unforgettable moments and emotional resonance.

As the lights dimmed and the members exited the stage, fans waited breathlessly, holding up their homemade signs and posters, hoping for an encore. I joined in as well, holding up my decorated lightstick and banner, both of which were sporting my favorite member, Heeseung. After a few moments of darkness, the stage lit up again with a softer glow as ENHYPEN returned for their encore performance. To finally conclude the night they performed two songs off “Orange Blood” (the title track “Sweet Venom” and “Orange Flower”), and finished with the same song they concluded the last tour with, “Karma.” The energy in the arena reached a fever pitch as fans sang along with every word, cherishing this special moment. As the final notes of the encore faded away, ENHYPEN took a bow, expressing their gratitude to the fans for their unwavering support throughout the tour. With promises of returning soon, they bid farewell to the Anaheim crowd, leaving behind memories that would last a lifetime for everyone in attendance.

Exiting the venue, myself and all other ENGENES buzzed with lingering energy, exchanging stories of our favorite moments from the concert and eagerly anticipating the next opportunity to see ENHYPEN live. For many, it was a night they would never forget, filled with music, laughter, and a deep connection with both the group and their fellow ENGENES. And as we dispersed into the night, the echoes of ENHYPEN’s performance lingered, a testament to the power of music to bring people together in joy and celebration.
