Taylor Swift Taps Paramore for European Eras Tour Run

Taylor Swift knows we need more — so she’s giving us just that. The singer has added 14 more shows to the European/U.K. leg of her Eras Tour , and announced that Paramore will provide support throughout the trek.

“Really can’t contain my excitement because… we’re adding 14 new shows to The Eras Tour,” Swift wrote on Twitter Wednesday, July 5. “And I get to travel the world doing shows with @paramore !! Hayley and I have been friends since we were teens in Nashville and now we get to frolic around the UK/Europe next summer??? I’m screaming???”

Last month, Swift added dozens of shows to her Taylor Swift: The Eras stadium tour — bringing the total count of shows to a whooping 104 nights . She also extended her run at Los Angeles’ So-Fi Stadium with a sixth show scheduled for Aug. 7.

The new addition comes after the singer announced shows in Japan, Australia, Singapore, and Europe earlier this week. (See below for the full tour dates.)

“EXCUSE ME HI I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY 🙋‍♀️,” she wrote on Instagram. “I can’t wait to see so many of you on The Eras Tour next year at these new international dates!”

She also added more dates to her already-announced Latin America tour. After wrapping her U.S. dates in Los Angeles on Aug. 9, Swift will head to Mexico City for four straight shows at Foro Sol starting Aug. 24. She’ll then stop in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and both Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in Brazil in November.

Joining the artist on her Latin America run and shows in Singapore and Australia will be “sweet angel princess” Sabrina Carpenter.

Swift first announced the tour last October after she completely took over the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 with Midnights . The added dates, which follow the addition of eight new shows last week, were slotted in “due to unprecedented demand,” according to the singer’s camp.

“Good Morning America, it’s Taylor,” Swift said during the announcement. “I wanted to tell you something that I’ve been so excited about for a really long time and I’ve been planning for ages, and I finally get to tell you I’m going back on tour. The tour is called the ‘Eras’ tour, and it’s a journey through all of my musical eras of my career.”

The tour began on March 17 in Glendale, Arizona and extends through Aug. 9, where the singer will wrap with a fifth night at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Swift still has stops left in Detroit, Minneapolis, Cincinnati, Seattle, and Santa Clara.

Across the tour, Swift is being supported in select cities by a combination of special guests including Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, MUNA, HAIM, GAYLE, Gracie Abrams, and OWENN.

The Eras tour follows the cancelation of her planned 2020 Lover Fest tour, which was originally going to see her make stadium stops in Los Angeles, Boston, and New York, along with Brazil, Denmark, Norway, and Poland. “This is an unprecedented pandemic that has changed everyone’s plans and no one knows what the touring landscape is going to look like in the near future,” she wrote in 2021.

Swift last went the road in 2018 for her massive Reputation Stadium Tour , which saw Swift accompanied by the likes of Charli XCX and Camila Cabello across the United States, the United Kingdom, along with Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. The tour was the highest-grossing music tour by a female artist that year.

Since her last tour, Swift has released four albums and two re-releases: Lover , Folklore , Evermore , Midnights , and Taylor’s Version editions of Fearless and Red with additional songs. In total, she’s dropped 90 tracks of new material, not including collaborations with the likes of Haim and Big Red Machine.

Fans have long wondered what music she’ll be performing on the road, with some theorizing that she’d host a residency in Las Vegas or a music festival where she’d perform different “eras” on different nights.

Along with packing her setlist with songs from Reputation in 2018, she surprised each city with an acoustic rendition of fan favorites like “Red,” “Holy Ground,” and “Wildest Dreams.” At select shows, she also brought out special guests. Shawn Mendes, Selena Gomez, Hayley Kiyoko, and Maren Morris were among the artists to be brought out by Swift.

The stadium tour was accompanied by a concert film released on New Year’s Eve that year.

She previously took her 1989 album on the road for 85 dates, where she was accompanied by the likes of Mendes, James Bay, Vance Joy, and Haim. Before then was The Red Tour in 2013 and 2014, and her Speak Now World Tour from 2011 to 2012.

Taylor Swift and Hayley Williams eras tour paramore europe opening act

European Taylor Swift fans won’t have to look closely at the fine print on a grid to figure out who will be opening for her on which nights on the “ Eras Tour ” next year, as American fans did this year. Swift revealed Wednesday that Paramore will be preceding her on stage for her entire European tour.

Additionally, she announced that 14 shows have been added to the lineup, all representing second, third, fourth or even sixth nights in cities that were already on the itinerary for May through August of 2024.

While it’s now known that Paramore will provide direct support for Swift’s entire run in Europe, that still leaves open the question of whether there will be a third artist on the bill in all those venues and, if so, who.

Sabrina Carpenter was recently announced as the opening act for Swift’s shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Singapore, which take place Feb. 16 through March 9 of 2024. Carpenter will also be opening for Swift’s Latin American shows in late August through late November of this year.

Swift’s U.S. tour is far from done, not wrapping up till an Aug. 9 finale at the L.A. area’s SoFi Stadium. Abrams, Haim, Gayle, Muna and Owenn are among the opening acts in the coming U.S. dates.

Swift’s new album, “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version),” comes out Thursday night.

Taylor Swift announces European Eras tour dates

This is not a drill: taylor swift is heading to europe next year.

By Nick Reilly

Taylor Swift on stage, 2018

Taylor Swift has announced the European run of dates for her Eras tour next summer, including a four-night stint at London’s Wembley Stadium.

The singer announced the dates as she unveiled wider international shows, with the European leg commencing at Paris’ La Defense Arena on May 9 next year.

While dates across the continent are on the cards throughout the summer, she’ll kick off the UK leg with a date at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium on June 7 and 8, before heading to Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium for two shows on June 14 and 15.

Further shows follow at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on June 18, before four dates at Wembley Stadium on June 21 and 22 and, at the end of the tour, two concluding dates on August 17 and 18.

Registration for tickets is now open. Fans can register on each city’s official ticket registration page here  up until Thursday 22nd June at 11:59pm (local time) in the UK, and on Friday 23rd June at 11:59pm (local time) in Ireland and Europe.

Curiously there is also a hole in her schedule that could potentially accommodate a headline slot at Glastonbury next year. Swift was due to headline in 2020, but was forced to cancel when the Covid pandemic prompted the festival’s cancellation.

Taylor Swift announces new Eras Tour dates in Europe, Australia and Asia

By C Mandler

June 20, 2023 / 6:55 PM EDT / CBS News

Pop superstar Taylor Swift  on Tuesday announced new concert dates in Asia, Australia and Europe for her Eras Tour , extending her performances through summer 2024.

While Swift's tour was originally just over 50 dates, it has now expanded to more than 100, according to Forbes , with the international leg of the Eras Tour kicking off in August this year in Mexico City — after which Swift will hang up her guitar until November before resuming her stadium shows.

EXCUSE ME HI I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY 🙋‍♀️ I can’t wait to see so many of you on The Eras Tour next year at these new international dates! Visit https://t.co/EYBevxhQzH for more information on your registrations, pre-sales and on-sales!! pic.twitter.com/G8zx8QUUAV — Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13) June 20, 2023

Swift's Asia shows will begin next year with four nights in Japan's Tokyo Dome, starting on Feb. 7. Then she'll visit Melbourne and Sydney, Australia, as well as Singapore, before embarking on the tour's European leg in May with two shows in Paris. Unless Swift adds even more dates, she'll close out the Eras Tour at Wembley Stadium in London on August 17, 2024.

The Eras Tour got off to a slightly rocky start when pre-sales for tickets resulted in a lawsuit against Ticketmaster from furious fans , who alleged that the company violated antitrust laws that are designed to protect market competition.

The suit claims that Ticketmaster knowingly sent out pre-sale codes to more fans than it could accommodate. As a result, millions of fans were denied the opportunity to purchase tickets .

Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour - Detroit, MI

But with Swift playing to sold-out crowds either way, the tour is poised to make her a billionaire  and could end up being one of the highest-grossing tours of all time. According to  Forbes , the Eras Tour might earn Swift a cool $500 million on top of her existing estimated net worth of around $570 million.

Some cities are even seeing economic boosts in their local economies as a result of Swift's tour dates, with CBS Philadelphia reporting spikes in visitor center ticket sales and hotel reservations in Philly.

Swift's Pittsburgh shows from last weekend set a new record for the venue — her tour's second show in the city recorded an attendance of 73,117 at the Acrisure Stadium.

Taylor hit the road with a set list of all of her albums earlier this year, after re-releasing much of her back catalogue in 2022.

She's also set to re-release 'Speak Now' in July, meaning she'll likely update her set list afterwards so she can perform the songs she finally legally owns live.

The current show is around three hours long as Tay fully delves back into all her eras for the iconic concert, from 'Fearless' to 'Midnights' which she dropped at the end of last year.

Taylor Swift is lengthening her Eras Tour.

The music star took to Instagram on Wednesday to announce that 14 new dates have been added to her tour lineup, with Paramore joining as the opening act for the tour’s European shows. The dates extend nights in cities that were already on the schedule for May through next August with additional shows now including ones in Sweden, Portugal, Dublin, Amsterdam and more.

Paramore originally opened the first two nights of the U.S. Eras tour in Glendale, Arizona. The current U.S. leg of the Swift’s Eras Tour will continue through Aug. 9 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

Sabrina Carpenter was previously announced as the opening act for Swift’s shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Singapore, which take place Feb. 16 through March 9, 2024. Carpenter will also open Swift’s Latin American shows.

The tour announcement comes amid the release of Swift’s next re-recorded album, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) on Thursday night. Williams is featured on new “from the vault” track called “Castles Crumbling (Taylor’s Version).”

  • Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour 2024 International Schedule

The Eras Tour is slowly shaping up to be one of the biggest music tours in the world. It is certainly Swift’s biggest and most important tour to date, and how could it not be? It celebrates all 10 albums (called eras) of Swift’s incredible career.

The tour began in March this year, but it’s not going to end anytime soon – it’s going to last well into November 2024!

If you want to see the whole schedule for the 2024 era of the Eras Tour, scroll down.

A Brief Wrap up of the Tour So Far

The tour, Swift’s sixth and biggest tour so far, officially started on March 17, 2023. The first show was held in Glendale, Arizona, and it was rapidly followed by a string of highly successful shows across the USA.

However, the last two segments of the tour so far took place outside of the USA, as Taylor headed to Mexico in August for a four-day fest, after which she made a brief break. The tour is set to continue briefly in November again, with three scheduled shows in Brazil.

At the end of the tour, Swift will have held 146 shows in total across 5 different continents. The social and economic impact of the tour is difficult to predict, but it is said that the concerts even affected the US economy – which is more than can be said about most concert tours in history.

The Eras Tour 2024 Dates

The tour hits a pause in November after Swift finishes with the three shows in Brazil, after which she goes on a break until February. The first concert in February is on February 7, and the location? Japan. The final show of the Eras Tour will take place in Toronto, Canada. In October, Taylor Swift is also releasing a film called Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, a concert film documentary that is already smashing records worldwide.

Taylor Swift will soon launch the European, UK and Ireland legs of her record-breaking Eras tour.

Over the past year, the 34-year-old pop star has been performing her career-spanning shows at stadiums around the world, including North America, Tokyo, Melbourne, Sydney and Singapore.

A month after the release of her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Society, she will continue the Eras tour with four nights in Paris at the La Défense Arena.

After this, she will perform two shows in Lisbon, Portugal, then a further two nights in Madrid, Spain, and Lyon, France.

UK-based fans (and those travelling to see Swift from overseas) will then get to see her live during three nights from 7 to 9 June at the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, Scotland, before she heads to Liverpool and Cardiff.

Swift is booked to perform a staggering eight shows at Wembley Stadium in London, with the first three taking place between 21 and 23 June, before she returns for the final five nights of her UK and Europe tour between 15 and 20 August.

In between those, she will have also played in Dublin, Ireland, in Amsterdam, Zurich, Milan, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg and Munich in Germany, Warsaw in Poland, and Vienna, Austria.

Ticketmaster recently announced a major update for fans with tickets to see Swift this summer.

All UK and Ireland dates will be supported by US rock band Paramore.

In a five-star review of the very first show of Swift’s Eras tour , critic Kelsey Barnes wrote how the US star guided fans through more than a decade’s worth of “her best work”.

“Her ‘Eras Tour’ was designed as a journey through that staggering back catalogue of 10 albums, from her earlier country twang on her self-titled debut to the shift to synth-pop on 1989 , then to the subdued folk and alt-rock of Folklore and Evermore ,” she wrote.

“Throughout the opening night of the tour, it frequently feels as though the audience is being caught up with Swift’s past, present and future. In the 44-song setlist that spans three hours and 15 minutes, she shows why the “era” concept is so integral to who she is. Each chapter marks a specific shift in her artistry.”

The Tortured Poets Department, released on 19 April, is the pop titan’s 11th studio album. It appears to have been inspired, in part, by the five stages of grief. Ahead of the release, Swift shared five new playlists that arrange her songs into those stages: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.

“These songs represent making room for more good in your life,” she says in a brief audio message that accompanied the final playlist, acceptance. “Making that choice. Because a lot of time when we lose things, we gain things too.”

Taylor Swift's 'Eras Tour' Is Going To Japan, Australia, Europe & More

The singer announced more international tour dates for the Eras Tour .

Taylor Swift is back on tour for the first time in five years. Since her last tour, she’s put out a whopping four albums, each with its own mythology, color scheme and unique sound to mark whatever era of her life — both creatively and musically — she’s currently in. When it comes to Taylor, there’s something for everyone: There’s the longing cottage-core of folklore and evermore , the self-hating, depressive late nights of Midnights , the dreamy rosy-eyed glasses of Lover . Swift is now revisiting these eras on her latest Eras Tour which, after an extensive 2023 U.S., Mexico, and South America run, will finally make its way overseas in 2024 to Japan, Australia, Singapore, and Europe.

In true Taylor form, she’s bringing her friends along for the ride — who encompass a wide swatch of generations and music tastes as varied as Swift’s own catalogue. Swift is supported by Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, MUNA, HAIM, GAYLE, Gracie Abrams, and OWENN on the tour’s 2023 U.S. leg. (Yes, you have permission to scream!) While Sabrina Carpenter will take over for Swift’s shows in Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and a few 2024 dates in Australia and Singapore. Paramore will return as openers for her 2024 European shows.

The Eras Tour kicked off March 18, 2023 in Glendale, AZ, the same place her “Reputation” tour began in 2018, with the U.S. leg wrapping in L.A.’s SoFi Stadium on August 9 — the same place she was set to open her 2020 Lover Fest mini-tour. Following shows in Mexico and South America, she embarks on her third leg of international dates starting February 2024.

For everything else we know about attending Swift’s Eras tour, including the full tour schedule, dates, and how to score tickets, read on.

Where is the 2023 Eras Tour Playing?

On June 20, Swift announced the international third leg of the Eras tour, consisting of shows in Japan, Australia, Singapore, and various countries throughout Europe. This run of dates kicks off in February 2024 in Japan, and wraps mid-August in London. See the full schedule below.

Who is opening on the Eras Tour ?

Paramore is opening for Swift across all the European dates of the 2024 international leg of the Eras Tour — that’s a whopping 48 shows.

Sabrina Carpenter , meanwhile, will be the sole opener for the entirety of the Mexico and South America leg of the tour, and on select dates in the 2024 international leg.

For the U.S. leg, Swift had a different opener (or two!) depending on the city and which include entirely women bands. Many of whom are artists she’s collaborated with before and who make music you can cry, or scream to: Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, MUNA, HAIM, GAYLE, Gracie Abrams, and OWENN.

European cities hope jet-setting Taylor Swift fans will splash the cash for Eras tour

The superstar arrives in Europe next month – and Swifties, tourist boards and venues are already preparing

T im Brown, 44, and his wife, Marcella, 34, may not consider themselves bona fide “Swifties”, but when it was announced last June that Taylor Swift would be visiting their corner of the globe this summer they could not resist joining the scramble for a pair of tickets.

A post-pandemic appetite for live music events has fuelled huge worldwide interest in the American singer-songwriter’s Eras tour, which surpassed in $1bn sales in November to become the highest-grossing series of concerts in history.

The pop culture event of the summer will arrive in Europe next month, kicking off in Paris on 9 May and wrapping up in London on 20 August with 49 dates in between in Sweden, Ireland, Portugal, Germany, Poland, Austria, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

The unique nature of the tour’s ticketing system, which was tweaked after a number of hitches last year, means there will be a mass movement of travelling fans who will not only be Swiftie in affiliation but swift-like in their willingness to travel across the continent.

In expectation of intense demand, Ticketmaster introduced a pre-registration system that rewarded some early applicants with access codes to the ticket sale proper, via staggered windows for each city.

Notionally designed to prioritise genuine fans over “scalpers” – people who buy and resell tickets for a quick profit – the pre-sales system also meant many fans registered for tickets in multiple destinations across Europe to increase their chances.

Taylor Swift performs on stage amid a sea of confetti

Tim and Marcella, who live in Norwich, registered not just for the nearest concerts – in London and Liverpool – but also in Amsterdam and Lisbon. The pair got lucky with a pair of €91 tickets in the Portuguese capital and have turned the trip into a weekend break. “I used to live in Lisbon so I thought why not kill two birds with one stone,” Tim said. “We booked ourselves flights and four nights’ accommodation the same day.” They are far from alone.

Katie Soo, the chief business officer of DICE, a rival ticketing company, said: “The excitement and uncertainty inherent in the ticket-purchasing process might have inadvertently incentivised fans to apply for tickets in multiple cities, thereby increasing the likelihood of travelling across Europe to attend the concerts.”

Hotel prices

Several European cities have already reported a sharp rise in demand for hotel and short-term rental accommodation over the summer, when the Swift hurricane will arrive. In Edinburgh, Liverpool and Cardiff, rooms at the Travelodge chain around Swift’s June dates have been sold out since August 2023, a month after tickets for the shows went on sale.

In Paris, where fans anticipate Swift to debut an updated version of the Eras show with songs from the new Tortured Poets Department album, 80% of hotels and apartments listed on Booking.com are already full up. In Warsaw on 2 August, only 9% of hotels listed on the same site are still available.

Not all of the 18 cities covered by the Eras tour are obvious tourism destinations. From 17-19 July, Swift will play three concerts at the 65,000-capacity home ground of the football club Schalke 04 in Gelsenkirchen in Ruhr valley, western Germany. The city’s less-than-familiar name prompted one US chatshow host to quip that “the place might not even exist”.

Yet even in Germany’s rust belt the influx of Swift fans is temporarily transforming the hotel market: any two-bedroom apartments that remain available are going for €800-2,000 a night, with cheaper accommodation available only in surrounding cities that are just as off the usual tourist track as Gelsenkirchen, such as Essen, Bochum or Herne.

Cities with stricter rules on allowing Airbnb-style holiday lets and a more limited stock of short-term rental apartments are reporting a particularly marked increase in rates during Swift’s visit, with about 30% year-on-year spikes in rental rates in Cardiff, Edinburgh and Milan, according to AirDNA, a data analytics company specialising in the short-term rentals market.

Of all the tour’s European stops, Vienna is experiencing the most notable impact on its rental market, with booking rates for the nights of Swift’s concerts recorded in February 44% higher than at the same point the previous year. By the end of March the number of nights booked in the Austrian capital for the length of Swift’s stay in the second week of August had risen by 430% compared with the same period in 2023.

When Luke Tilden’s wife, Tatjana, suggested last summer that the couple buy their 13- and 15-year-old daughters, Lena and Maya, tickets to a Taylor Swift gig for Christmas, the 53-year-old Briton initially waved it off. “There’s no chance in hell we’d get a ticket without paying through our noses, I thought,” said Tilden, who works as an interpreter at the European parliament in Strasbourg.

But after pre-registering for tickets in London, Paris and Munich, the Tildens got unexpectedly lucky for four tickets in southern Germany and have turned the concert visit into a mini-holiday: “We’ll visit the in-laws in Bavaria, enjoy the countryside, do a bit of hiking.”

The hope in cities across Europe is that this will be replicated on a massive scale, with fans’ excitement translating into generous spending sprees on food, shopping and leisure. In Stockholm, for example, where authorities are expecting 159,000 visitors to arrive from 135 countries in mid-May, the chamber of commerce has forecast a spending boost of €50m. “We hope the whole town will buzz from the Eras tour,” said Tomas Andersson, a spokesperson for the Swedish capital’s tourism board.

Whether fans will necessarily act like ordinary tourists, however, is up for debate. “Pop-culture tourists do not necessarily care about traditional buildings and authentic restaurants,” said Maria Lexhagen, a professor at the European Tourism Research Institute, Mid Sweden University.

“Joining up with other fan communities is stronger motivation, as is the idea that they might get closer to the stars themselves. Many of them will map out where Swift is spending her time in the city – they will seek out seemingly marginal but meaningful places like back alleys or coffee shops.” Venues may be hoping for a repeat of Sydney in February, when Swift swept into an unassuming Italian restaurant in the suburbs and sent its name into global media headlines.

In Stockholm the tourism board said it was expecting bookshops and secondhand clothes stores, rather than museums and royal palaces, to attract most of the arriving visitors. Some venues are being proactive: one restaurant within walking distance of the multipurpose Friends Arena in the Solna municipality is putting on a “Taylor Swift brunch experience” with a karaoke stage; the waterfront nightclub Debaser is hosting a pre-concert party on 16 May, an all-ages all-day party with a Swift-themed quiz on 19 May and an afterparty the day after.

Environment

As the Swift circus rolls across the continent, the transport infrastructure of urban centres will also be put to the test. Around the tour’s three-night stop in Dublin at the end of June, Irish Rail has announced additional late-night services to Cork and Limerick to meet an expected increase in demand. Extra tram and bus services are likely to be announced nearer the time.

Unlike rail operators, most airlines do not have capacity to charter additional flights. Due to yield management – airlines adjusting prices based on expected demand – a scramble for airborne journeys into cities that host the Eras tour is more likely to result in more expensive tickets rather than additional flights.

Officials at Lisbon airport said no additional flights had been chartered around Swift’s concerts on 24 and 25 May but that demand would probably be reflected in slightly higher load factors. A spokesperson for Amsterdam Schiphol said general aviation slots could be requested at short notice but nothing out of the ordinary had been logged so far.

Calculating the environmental impact of the tour with any certainty was difficult, experts said. “We can expect that some Swift fans will travel a long way to see one, if not several, shows across Europe”, said Stefan Gössling, a professor of tourism at Linnaeus University in Kalmar, Sweden. “But measuring the environmental impact of these trips is extremely difficult – it would involve a lot of guesswork.”

Swift fans queue to buy a merchandise

This did not mean the carbon footprint was negligible. “Every flight taken by a person adds to demand and hence influences supply considerations,” Gössling said. “The greater the demand, the more aircrafts are in service.”

The pop star’s carbon footprint is easier to estimate. Swift owns two jets by the French manufacturer Dassault, whose journeys are trackable. During the 2023 leg of the Eras tour, Swift’s planes spent 166 hours crisscrossing the US in about 75 individual journeys, though it is possible they were used by people other than the singer.

According to data available through the open-access aviation tracker ADS-B exchange, Swift’s jets caused carbon emissions of about 2,830 tonnes of CO 2 equivalent over the course of the US Eras tour – about 1,700 times the annual contribution of an average person.

A spokesperson for Swift told US media last year that in advance of the tour’s start in March 2023, the pop star bought more than double the carbon credits needed to offset all tour travel. Carbon offset credits are tradable certificates that allow purchasers to compensate for emissions by investing in environmental projects that claim to reduce carbon emissions, though recent studies have questioned the efficacy of these schemes.

I'm planning to spend $5,000 to see Taylor Swift in Europe with my kids. Our floor tickets, hotel, and flights are set to cost less than our nosebleed seats in the US did.

  • I saw Taylor Swift on the US leg of The Eras Tour, and two nosebleed seats cost us $5,000.
  • My daughter and I loved the show, so I scored us floor seats for one of Swift's Poland shows.
  • Our European trip includes three VIP Swift tickets and is set to be cheaper than our seats in the US.

Insider Today

When Taylor Swift first announced her Eras Tour , I laughed when I heard colleagues had cleared their work schedules to buy tickets.

I couldn't understand why they were looking for tickets for shows hours away. I liked a few of Swift's songs, but I wasn't a "Swiftie" and didn't understand the frenzy.

That all changed when my daughter started asking intensely for tickets . And once The Eras Tour started, it became clear that it was the concert of the century. It was also nearly impossible to get tickets.

Seeing the US tour was difficult and expensive, but the show turned me into a full-on Swiftie

I didn't want my kid to miss out on this generation-defining event, but I couldn't stomach spending $4,000 or more on the resale market for two nosebleed seats on top of travel costs to another city.

Fortunately, five cousins chipped in to buy my daughter tickets for her birthday.

My daughter, a devoted Swiftie, predictably loved every second of The Eras Tour. At first, I wasn't sure how I would get through a 3 ½-hour show by an artist I barely knew — but I left in awe of Swift's talent.

Related stories

In the weeks that followed, I listened exclusively to Swift. On a trip to Nashville, I sang my heart out to Swift's songs at the Country Music Hall of Fame. I wondered whether I would be able to see her perform again, this time going all in.

Getting tickets to see Swift in Poland was easier than I expected

As soon as Swift announced international dates on her tour in June, I took the first of many steps to get tickets to one of her shows abroad. I set my sights on a show in Warsaw, Poland, for several reasons.

My children and I are Polish citizens but have never set foot in the country. I've wanted to go for years, and snagging Swift tickets would allow me to finally make the trip. I reasoned that Warsaw was unlikely to be as popular as marquee destinations like Paris. It's also a less expensive city than many other international stops on The Eras Tour.

Also, tickets for the Warsaw show were not being sold through Ticketmaster. I found the idea of not having to deal with the company that botched sales to the US leg of the tour very appealing.

A few days before tickets went on sale, I got a code for the chance to buy tickets before they became available to the rest of the public. Based on how popular presales were in the US , I knew I was unlikely to get tickets, but I set an alarm for 5 a.m. anyway.

Much to my surprise, I was able to enter the ticket-buying portal right away. I scored three VIP floor seats for the first night of Swift's Eras Tour in Warsaw for less than $1,000. My daughter, my son, and I started making friendship bracelets immediately to exchange with other concert-goers, an Eras Tour tradition.

Our trip hasn't happened yet, but I already know it'll be worth it

Although tickets to the Warsaw show were not cheap, the total cost plus our European trip is set to be about the same as or less than the two nosebleed seats I got when I saw Swift in the US.

I hope to use credit-card points to book our flights, but even if I don't, I estimate the total cost of the trip could be from $4,000 to $5,000. This isn't significantly more than my family usually spends on our annual family vacation, and I have more than a year to save.

However, unlike other family vacations, this one comes with the chance to explore our roots and see a new part of the world. I never would have guessed that Swift would be what finally got me to Poland, but it's just one more reason for me to love her.

Taylor Swift Concerts Increase Hotel Prices By Up to 154% — These Are the Destinations and Dates to Avoid

Let’s get out of this town ... away from the crowds …

europe tour taylor swift dates

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is rather popular. As in, it's made Swift a certified billionaire , popular. So popular that Swift is credited with bringing millions to local economies around the globe thanks to her thousands of fans flying in from all over the world just to see her sing. However, the one thing we could perhaps complain just a little about as travelers is that the tour is causing hotels to seriously jack up their prices in the days leading up to her tour. In some spots, as much as 44 percent.

According to a 2024 study by Lighthouse , a travel and hospitality insights company, the increase in room pricing during Swift's European stops is "staggering."

We can see that the effect on hotel room pricing in some cities is "staggering," including some spots seeing a more than 100 percent increase.

"Overall, the median increase in rates for a standard hotel room compared to those nearby weeks was 44 percent, which is a huge boost to local hotel rates and indicative of the continuing star power Swift has in every geography she has visited so far," the study's findings read. However, it also noted, the effect is not universal and there is "massive variation between locations."

There was also one other bit of good news in the study: "Most visitors are solely interested in the event's tour within the specified dates, with limited spillover demand."

So, if you happen to want to be traveling to Europe this summer during her tour, we thought we'd give you the heads up on a few dates to avoid, and note a few cities where you may still be able to get a good deal over her concert dates, to ensure you can maximize deals and swerve the Swift Effect.

Avoid: Warsaw

Price increase: According to the study, prices for hotel rooms in Warsaw are experiencing a whopping 154 percent increase during Swift's tour dates.  Dates to avoid: Swift's tour stops in Warsaw from Aug. 1 to Aug. 3, so if you can, try to go the week following the concerts, when prices will be far lower.

Avoid: Stockholm

Price increase: According to the study, prices for hotel rooms in Stockholm are experiencing a whopping 119 percent increase during Swift's tour dates.  Dates to avoid: Swift's tour stops in Warsaw from May 19 to May 19. Avoid that weekend and you should be able to find prices for less.

Avoid: Liverpool

Price increase: According to the study, prices for hotel rooms in Stockholm are experiencing a whopping 116 percent increase during Swift's tour dates.  Dates to avoid: Swift's tour stops in Liverpool from June 13 to June 15. After those dates, you should be great.

Avoid: Vienna

Price increase: According to the study, prices for hotel rooms in Vienna are experiencing a whopping 88 percent increase during Swift's tour dates.  Dates to avoid: Swift's tour stops in Warsaw from Aug. 8 to Aug. 10, so skip those dates and find new ones to snag a deal in this fantastic city.

Still go: Paris

Price increase: In an interesting twist, larger cities don't seem to have the same price increases as smaller ones, according to the study. Thus, spots like Paris are only experiencing a 5 percent increase in pricing for hotel rooms. So, if you plan to see the City of Lights between Swift's tour stops from May 9 to May 12, you should be in the clear.

Still go: London

Price increase: Like Paris, London too hasn't been hit too hard with Swift increases. The study notes that the city is only seeing a 9 percent increase in room prices, so feel free to still book a (slightly more expensive) stay during the tour dates from June 21 to June 23.

There is, however, one more solution if you simply cannot avoid traveling over Swift's tour dates. According to the study, short-term rentals, like those on Airbnb and Vrbo, are seeing far less volatile pricing over the tour dates. In fact, the study noted that prices are actually lower than ever in London over her tour dates than on other days, so there's always a solution to your travel woes. Even if those woes are the fact that you couldn't score T Swift tickets.

Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn’s Complete Relationship Timeline

Swift spent six years dating Alwyn. Revisit the history that Tortured Poets is poised to explore.

Swift has an especially big week ahead of her, with The Tortured Poets Department coming out Friday. The singer will return to her Eras tour on May 9, with her first European leg performance in Paris.

Swift has been much more visible in the last year than she has since 2016. Swift spoke about her change in attitude during her December interview with Time . “Over the years, I’ve learned I don’t have the time or bandwidth to get pressed about things that don’t matter,” she said. “Yes, if I go out to dinner, there’s going to be a whole chaotic situation outside the restaurant. But I still want to go to dinner with my friends. Life is short. Have adventures. Me locking myself away in my house for a lot of years—I’ll never get that time back. I’m more trusting now than I was six years ago.”

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Are 'All About Quality Time Together' Before Singer Heads Back on Tour (Exclusive Source)

A source tells PEOPLE the pair is "very happy" spending time together before Swift's Eras Tour resumes in May

Free time looks good on Taylor Swift  and  Travis Kelce .

After the pair attended the 2024 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival over the weekend, a source tells PEOPLE the couple is "very happy" spending time together before Swift's Eras Tour resumes in May.

"They are very supportive of each other. They're enjoying solo dates, but have also been hanging out with their friends," says the insider, after Swift and Kelce, both 34, were spotted hanging out with Sabrina Carpenter , Barry Keoghan , Ice Spice and more pals at the music festival in Indio, California.

"Everyone loves Travis," adds the source. "He's super friendly and easygoing."

Swift and Kelce "were both excited to attend Coachella together," continues the insider of the pair's attendance at the three-day event, where they watched performances by Bleachers, Ice Spice, Dom Dolla and more artists. "They're all about quality time together before Taylor resumes her tour."

The "All Too Well" singer-songwriter has been on a break from her blockbuster Eras Tour since wrapping a string of shows in Australia and Asia in March. She'll hit the road once again next month with four performances in France before continuing the tour's European leg through Aug. 20.

Before the Eras Tour kicks back off, however, Swift will release her new studio album, The Tortured Poets Department , on April 19. She announced the project during her 2024 Grammys acceptance speech for best pop vocal album for  Midnights in February.

She teased the first lyric from the album ahead of the total solar eclipse on April 8 as she posted a video to social media of a typewriter typing, "Crowd goes wild at her fingertips / Half moonshine, Full eclipse."

On Sunday, April 14, Swift posted to Instagram once again to share a photo of the album's clear vinyl variant alongside the lyric, "I wish I could un-recall how we almost had it all."

As for Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end is currently preparing to make his game show host debut on Prime Video's celebrity-version of  Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? — which will fittingly be titled, Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?

Taylor Swift fans targeted by surge in ticket scams as £1m ‘already lost’ ahead of pop star’s UK tour

Taylor Swift fans may have lost upwards of £1m to fraudsters claiming to offer tickets to the pop star’s forthcoming concerts, a major bank has said.

Lloyds Bank has issued a warning to music fans, saying that more than 600 of its UK customers have come forward so far to report being scammed.

Swift is currently preparing to kick off the Europe and UK/Ireland legs of her record-breaking Eras Tour, which has already seen her perform to thousands of fans in stadiums around the world.

The figures from Lloyds Bank were based on analysis of relevant purchase scams reported by customers at Lloyds Bank, Halifax and the Bank of Scotland, where Swift and/or the Eras Tour were referenced as part of the claim, between July 2023 and March 2024.

On average, each victim lost around £332, though Lloyds said that in some cases they were fleeced of more than £1,000.

Assuming similar trends for customers of other UK banks, LLoyds estimated that there have been at least 3,000 victims since tickets for Swift’s Eras Tour went on sale.

Fans aged between 25 to 34 were most likely to be targeted, with many of the scams originating on social media.

Swift has sold out each one of her scheduled tour dates where tickets have been released so far, leaving thousands more fans desperate for a chance to see her perform live.

During her North America leg, fans were often seen gathered in large crowds outside stadiums where she was performing, just for the chance to sing along.

The Independent has contacted Swift’s representatives for comment.

Lloyds said that fans of other major artists such as Beyoncé, Harry Styles and Coldplay were also targeted last summer.

Ticket scams transpire when someone is tricked into sending money via bank transfer to buy tickets that are fake, shoddy or non-existent. They often involve fake adverts or listings on social media offering tickets to events that have already sold out.

Victims will be asked to pay for the tickets upfront, only to find that the scammer disappears once the payment is made, leaving them out of pocket and without tickets.

Lloyds said that there are usually two waves of fraud: the first when tickets go on sale, and the second closer to when the event is taking place.

Liz Ziegler, fraud prevention director, Lloyds Bank, said: “For her legion of dedicated Swifties, the excitement is building ahead of Taylor's Eras Tour finally touching down in the UK this summer.

“However cruel fraudsters have wasted no time in targeting her most loyal fans as they rush to pick up tickets for her must-see concerts.

“It's easy to let our emotions get the better of us when we find out our favourite artist is going to be performing live, but it's important not to let those feelings cloud our judgment when trying to get hold of tickets.”

Lisa Webb, consumer law expert at Which?, said that if it looked too good to be true, “it probably is.”

“Don't be tempted to buy tickets from anyone other than authorised sellers, as your rights can be significantly reduced if something goes wrong,” she said.

“If you are buying tickets, we recommend you pay using your credit card if the tickets cost more than £100, or by PayPal, as both these methods may provide protection if something goes wrong.

“If you think you have fallen victim to a ticket scam, contact your bank immediately and report it to Action Fraud or Police Scotland.”

Lloyds Bank offered the following tips to help avoid falling victim to ticket scams:

  • Buy from trusted retailers. Only purchase tickets from well-known, official ticket platforms.
  • Be cautious on social media - remember it is easy for fraudsters to create fake ads including pictures of real tickets.
  • Avoid deals that look too good to be true. Tickets for sale at low prices or for sold-out events should ring alarm bells. Ask yourself if the deal seems realistic.
  • Consider paying by debit or credit card. This helps to protect your money should something go wrong. PayPal is another option that gives people added protections if something goes wrong.

Last year, it was reported by live music trade publication Pollstar that Swift’s Eras Tour had, by December, generated around $1.04bn (£836m) in gross ticket sales, making Swift’s the first ever tour to hit the billion dollar milestone.

During the 12-month period of 17 November 2022 to 15 November 2023, Pollstar reported that the Eras Tour sold an estimated 4.35 million tickets from 60 shows, while Swift’s merchandise generated a further $200m in revenue during that time.
