Para comenzar nuestra visita por Bogotá, comenzaremos yendo al encuentro de nuestros guías, que nos estarán esperando en la Plaza del Chorro de Quevedo . El Chorro, como se conoce a esta plaza en la ciudad, es uno de los lugares más carismáticos de la historia de Bogotá . Las crónicas antiguas nos cuentan que este fue el lugar en el que se fundó Bogotá, y con esta plaza, como bien nos explicará nuestro guía, se relaciona uno de los personajes más conocidos del país, Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada.

Desde aquí seguiremos andando por La Candelaria . Recorreremos unas calles empinadas que parecen no tener fin, unas calles por las que paseó la historia, las leyendas y la vida de millones de hombres y mujeres. Su arquitectura más típica nos irá contando sus capítulos más relevantes, casas decimonónicas, palacetes coloniales, construcciones de la época republicana…

Pero no nos vamos a pasear solo por todo lo que hay que ver en La Candelaria, también nos detendremos en las tradiciones, los oficios y los sabores de la zona. Para ello… ¿Alguien ha probado alguna vez la chicha? La chicha , que también encontraréis bajo el nombre de cerveza de maíz, se hace con maíz y azúcar al gusto. Quizá dicho así no lo parezca, pero, realmente, la chicha es una bebida de dioses.

Nuestra siguiente parada será el mercado de La Concordia. Para llegar, andaremos por un callejón lleno de graffitis, un ejemplo más del referente cultural que esta zona es en la ciudad. Y una vez en el mercado, ¿qué podemos hacer? Pues lo mejor que se puede hacer en un mercado, mezclarnos con sus gentes y entre sus puestos. Aquí daremos cuenta de las frutas más deliciosas de la zona y seremos testigos, en primera persona, del carácter abierto y generoso de estas gentes que, mientras estemos aquí, no dudarán en compartir con nosotros su día a día.

Debemos seguir y lo haremos en dirección a las Plazas de Rosario y Santander . Si nos fijamos, en los alrededores de esta plaza se siente, y aún se puede ver, el rastro de ese Bogotá antiguo que todos buscamos en la ciudad. Aquí se encuentra también el Museo del Oro. Aquí, por la Carrera Séptima y por la Plaza de Bolívar hablaremos de una de las realidades más complejas de la ciudad, las guerrillas y el tráfico de drogas.

En muchas ocasiones, en demasiadas ocasiones y desde muchos frentes, esta ha sido la imagen que se ha querido exportar tanto de la ciudad como del país. Evidentemente esta es solo una parte, y no es de lejos, ni la más importante ni la más representativa , pero será sumamente interesante saber cómo, a lo largo de estas décadas, los colombianos han ido encajando esta realidad .

Weather changes quickly in Bogotá. It’s a good idea to always come prepared with an umbrella or jacket in case it rains.
