Glen Eyrie Castle sits on 700 acres of land, which past visitors routinely describe as both beautiful and peaceful. The founder of Colorado Springs, General William Jackson Palmer, built a huge house for his family in the late 1800s and later remodeled the structure to become the castle it is today. Today, the Navigators, a Christian group, own and operate the property. Primarily, the castle is a conference and event space. If you're not part of an event, not to worry. You're still welcome to visit.
The property runs 90-minute guided tours that trace the history of the castle itself, the Navigators and the surrounding landscape. The property also offers afternoon tea, providing guests with a selection of canapes and desserts to savor while sipping freshly brewed tea. There is also a gift shop filled with souvenirs and Christian books.
Extend your stay by booking one of the castle's rooms for an evening. Glen Eyrie boasts 17 guest rooms. Rooms are appointed with king- or queen-sized beds, lavish wallpaper and wood furnishings. You won't find any TVs in the rooms, but you will get free Wi-Fi and exquisite views from your windows. (Note, too, that some rooms do not have air conditioning.) Premier lodge rooms are also available, though these accommodations are for guests ages 14 and older; minors must be accompanied by an adult. Standard rooms with two queen-size beds can accommodate up to five people, including children. Overnight guests have access to the property's hiking trails, board games and outdoor games.
Past travelers enjoyed their visits to Glen Eyrie Castle and encouraged future visitors to book a night. They also raved about the castle's architecture, spectacular setting and the included breakfast (for overnight guests).
Tickets for a guided tour of the castle cost $12 per person; afternoon tours are available daily. Tea costs $36 per person and is offered Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Staying overnight is subject to availability and priority is given to groups. Nightly rates vary depending on the room you choose and the season.
Glen Eyrie Castle is about a mile north of Garden of the Gods . For more information about the castle's offerings, check its website .

#1 Garden of the Gods
U.S. News Insider Tip: Since the park is free to enter, consider exploring Garden of the Gods multiple times during your stay to see the rock formations at different times of day. The light just after sunrise and before sunset makes them especially striking and photogenic. – Kara Williams
It's easy to see how this natural landmark earned such an ethereal title: These magnificent red rock formations look as though deities could've carved them. However, the sandstone pillars are, in fact, the work of geological activity and erosion over millennia. You can learn about the garden's formations at the Visitor and Nature Center, which houses numerous informative displays and hosts daily presentations. You are welcome to explore the park on your own time (either on foot or by bike) or take a guided nature walk from the visitor center for a fee. The park partners with Adventures Out West to provide Jeep, trolley and Segway tours; it works with Amp'd Adventures for guided electric bike tours. (Note: Tour prices vary by vehicle and tour length.) Or, if you're looking for a more authentic Wild West experience, you can reserve your spot on a guided horseback tour offered by Academy Riding Stables .

Four of us celebrated our English friend's 91st birthday with HighTea at Glen Eyrie. We all selected a different tea blend and we really enjoyed the ambience on a cold, snowy day. Our menu included butternut squash soup, rice salad, deviled eggs, ham sliders, two types of scones, clotted cream, an 3 types of tiny desserts. The food was served in courses and was really good with the exception of the orzo & rice "salad". It got low marks from everyone in our group. Our server was excellent and even gave our birthday girl a crown to wear and a special birthday cupcake. With snow on the grounds, it made the castle even more beautiful. Afterward, we visited the bookstore, now located in the carriage house. Overall, it was a very special way to honor our friend's birthday.
Make your reservation NOW! We've been to high teas all across the world, including London, but Glen Eyrie is one of the best we've ever had. Service is gracious, staff are attentive, tea selection is great and the tea savories, scones and sweets are simply out of this world. This is the first high tea where we've been filled up to the exact right level of satisfaction with imaginative and beautiful yummies.
When you first arrive, you check in at a gate guard station. The guard gives you a parking pass for the property. The castle was about a three minute drive into the property. Reservations are highly recommended. You are asked at the gate if you have a reservation as well as at the entrance of the tea rooms. There are two seating areas for tea. One room is very feminine and bright, and the other one has more of a dark, natural wood aesthetic. We were seated in the more feminine side (which I was hoping for). I would say the food was plentiful. We couldn't even finish everything. The selections could have been better. Some of the offerings could be considered too intricate for some palates, i.e. the gazpacho had a kick to it (which I enjoyed but my friend didn't like). One of the hors d'oeuvres had an indian curried potato on a wonton, which didn't compliment the other selections. I think another offering of a finger sandwich would be a better option. The presentation was great. The teas were good. I had the blue sapphire (black tea), and my friend had the Dragon 4 Flowers (sooo pretty). Both teas were great. Hot water refills were offered. I had a lovely time with my friend. The ambiance was beautiful. The castle was stunning. I can't wait to return in the future.

We've been going to Glen Eyrie for almost 20 years and we've never been to a tea before. We were all so impressed! Each of us got our own pot of tea so we were able to sample each others and have multiple cups. But the tea is just part of the experience. The food was amazing. The mushroom soup with crispy celery root could have been the only thing I was served and I would have been in bliss. I wanted to like the bowl. But that was not all. We had a healthy salad and many choices of small bites that were so scrumptious! Plus desserts that we couldn't finish because of all the choices of food. Not a problem, we had a box to bring them home. I don't know why we waited so long to go. The experience was incredible, the service exemplary, and the Music room perfect for a tea at Glen Eyrie. I highly recommend!
When my son moved to Colorado Springs, I saw this castle and knew I had to go for tea. My son's girlfriend and I went for a girls' afternoon out. The location is amazing. The castle next to the Garden of the Gods was awesome. The tea and the food were perfect. Our server Alyssa was great. The price is good and parking is free. I hope I get to go back next visit.

I am not sure what took me so long to visit this magical place! The drive in is absolutely beautiful, and the castle is just as magical. Make sure you make reservations and then go and enjoy the amazing high tea menu! You can choose the tea flavor, and they have a seasonal menu for your tasting! Amazing experience!

Beautiful place! The architecture was very cool to look at. The woman who served us was kind and warm. The food was okay. Overall, it was for a more mature palate. I personally loved it and thought portion sizes were good. However, the picky people I came with thought it was a bit much.
Part of the more main course.
Came here in October 2022, this was a great place for a great afternoon tea. First you are greeted beautiful drive through the property. Then you have a short walk to where you have your tea. The staff was on point, I did put down that I am here to celebrate my wedding anniversary, so they did give us some special dessert. All the food is tasty and surprisingly filling. After the tea, we decided to go the rose garden for a walk. This place really a treat and a great place a tea date.

Had tea here and a tour of the castle. tea and food was delicious although I put in the comment when reserving it for GF options for my friend but they didn't see it or I didn't do it right. But they still accommodated her. The tour was interesting and the tour guide was engaging. It's a beautiful castle especially with the snow. I get there is history with Christianity and navigators group own the property but I do wish it wasn't pushed down during the tour. I also don't like how at the bookstore, they sell harmful evangelical books, particularly "Love and Respect" when that has been a harmful book for many women. But it's a nice experience and would love to take my mom in the future. I know she would love it!
The service and ambience were very nice. Servers are attentive and polite, and the castle is well maintained. You must rsvp for the afternoon tea, which keeps the bustle to a minimum. Unfortunately, the food simply was subpar. They have a wonderful set menu with tasty descriptions and the presentation is beautiful, but it was not fresh at all. The lettuce in the salad was wilted, the cracker in the salmon canape was soggy, and the wonton shell was extremely hard instead being a nice crunch. The bright point was the savory tomato scone- that was actually quite nice. I was surprised that you can only order 1 tea for the entire service. They do not replace the tea leaves, only refill with hot water. A pleasant experience, but not one I would care to repeat at $35 a person given the quality of the food.
