However, communication issues and inflexibility on tours detracted from the experience. Pros: Customization: Travel Triangle built a package that fit my needs, including the hotel and activities I wanted. Hotel: I was very happy with the chosen hotel - [Hyatt and Wyndham]. Selective Activities: I appreciated the option to choose specific activities instead of a pre-set package. Location & Transport: Having included airport transfers and local transportation was convenient. Ground Team: The ground team in Dubai was generally helpful. Competitive Price: I felt I got good value for the price I paid. Sightseeing Flexibility: I liked having some flexibility in choosing which sights to see. Cons: Ticketing Confusion: There were issues with receiving the correct ticketing information for some activities, causing some confusion. Itinerary Clarity: The itinerary for locations could have been clearer, leading to some minor navigation challenges. Shared Tours: Being placed in a shared tour group (SIC) with incompatible travelers wasn't ideal. Driver Rigidity: Drivers' strict adherence to routes and limited flexibility during sightseeing was frustrating. Unprofessional Conduct: Some pick-up and drop-off experiences for sightseeing involved harsh or rude behavior, which put a damper on the mood. Dubai is located southeast of the Persian Gulf on the Arabian Peninsula and is one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates. It houses the largest population in the UAE and is considered the most moderate and progressive of all the emirates to be experienced on a Dubai vacation.

Early archaeological findings in Dubai date back to around 8000 BC, however, the Sheikhdom of Dubai was not formally established until 1833. By the beginning of the 20th century, the area was an important trading hub and with the discovery of oil in 1966, infrastructure began to expand. Just a few years later, in 1971, Dubai became the second emirate to join the UAE.

Thanks to the revenues from the oil industry, a construction boom began in the 1980s, continued in the 1990s and the pace with which it accelerated during the new millennium was unrivaled anywhere else. As a result of this expansion, Dubai has grown into a cosmopolitan region famous around the world for its immense construction projects including Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, skyscrapers, man-made islands and luxurious hotels, all to be wondered at on a Dubai vacation.

A relatively modern Mosque constructed from 1996-2007, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is the largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates’s capital of Abu Dhabi and a key place for worship during gatherings and prayers.

Built on its own artificial island and connected by a bridge to the mainland. The Burj Al Arab’s designers wanted to create an iconic landmark for the city of Dubai and took inspiration from the shape of a ship’s sail.

Day 1: Arrive in Abu Dhabi

Welcome to beautiful Abu Dhabi, with its year-round sunshine and stunning cultural sites. Travelers who purchased our air-inclusive package will be met at the airport and transferred to our hotel. Tonight, we'll enjoy a welcome dinner and orientation.

Day 2: Abu Dhabi City Tour

Today, we'll see the city's striking architecture which reflects distinctly Islamic themes with modern materials, and learn how oil has been central to the UAE's development. We'll stop at a bustling authentic fish market, and drive along the Corniche waterfront which offers breathtaking views of the city. Next, the stunning Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque fuses styles from different Muslim civilizations and celebrates cultural diversity. Marvel at the domes, reflective pools, and the world's biggest chandelier and carpet—both of which are handmade. After a break for lunch, we'll visit the Louvre Abu Dhabi, an art and civilization museum—the first of its kind in the Arab world—bringing together different cultures to shine a light on humanity's shared stories.

Day 3: Abu Dhabi at Leisure

Delight in a day of free time. Dive into more of Abu Dhabi, or relax at our luxurious hotel. Consider our optional Abu Dhabi Panoramic Tour which takes place this morning or our Dhow Cruise which takes place this evening.

Day 4: Abu Dhabi – Dubai

This morning, we'll check out of our hotel and head to Dubai! In Dubai, we'll have a photo stop at Burj Al Arab Beach where we'll enjoy a fantastic view over the famous 7-star hotel Burj Al Arab. Next, we'll visit the sensational Atlantis hotel for a world-class experience at The View at Palm Jumeirah. The View inspires, educates, and celebrates the extraordinary achievements behind the making of Palm Jumeirah. Then we will drive to the glitzy Dubai Marina Walk. The Dubai Marina Walk features 7km of pedestrian walkways which lead to some of Dubai's most popular restaurants and shops. It offers an alfresco lifestyle for those that love the outdoors. Early this evening, we'll check into our Dubai hotel and have the evening at leisure.

Day 5: Desert Safari & Bedouin Campsite Excursion

After a morning at leisure, we'll embark on an exciting desert safari! Our safari guides will whisk us away in 4-wheel drive vehicles into the golden sand dunes of Arabia. We'll savor the sunset overlooking the desert, and continue on to a Bedouin campsite for camel riding, henna design, a delicious BBQ dinner, and more. Be enchanted by a belly dancer performing to classic Arabian rhythms.

Note: During Ramadan, there is no belly dancing or alcohol at the campsite.

Day 6: Dubai Heritage & Modern Dubai City Tour

Today we'll get a glimpse of how people lived before the Union and before the discovery of oil in the Emirate of Dubai. We'll visit Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House and then walk through the Heritage Village of Dubai, an immersive time capsule of what life was like pre-modern UAE with an old-world souk (market), mosque, and camp. We'll continue our tour by abra (traditional boat or "water taxi"), crossing Dubai Creek to the Spice Souk, followed by the glittering Gold Souk where we can shop for treasures. At lunch, we'll enjoy authentic Emirati cuisine followed by an open discussion about the UAE's history, culture, and traditions at the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding. This evening, we'll visit the Dubai Mall and Dubai Fountain Show—a spectacular display of water, music, and lights. Next, we'll go to the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, and enjoy its incredible "At the Top" observation deck experience as the lights of the city shimmer. Stay at Dubai Mall for dinner, or return with the group to the hotel.

Day 7: Dubai at Leisure

We'll enjoy a full day of free time in Dubai today. Spend it checking out the city sights or consider an optional tour to Sharjah, named the Cultural Capital of the Arab World by UNESCO.

Day 8: Depart Dubai

We bid farewell to Dubai today as our tour comes to an end after breakfast. Travelers who purchased the air-inclusive package will transfer to the airport for our return flight and touch down in the U.S. later today.

The best time to travel to the Middle East depends on how comfortable you are with heat, as most of the region has warm temperatures all year long.

Summers are particularly hot in Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, with temperatures reaching highs in the 100s F during the day. Drinking plenty of water, limiting your alcohol intake, and using proper sun protection is extremely important in order to prevent the effects of dehydration and heat stroke while on a Middle East trip.

The late fall, winter, and early spring months bring more moderate temperatures across these destinations. The off season is a nice time to take an Egypt tour after the summer crowds have retreated.

Israel is a year-round destination, with warm summers (reaching highs around 90 F during the day) and moderate winters (with daily highs in the 60s F). We recommend joining one of our Israel tours in the late fall or winter if you prefer more comfortable temperatures and don't mind the chance of some rain.

When you visit the Middle East, you'll have the chance to sample flavors that may be new to you. The meals included in our Middle East vacation packages will give you a taste of regional specialties. We recommend trying different things to see what you enjoy!

Olives, hummus, sesame seeds, and herbs are typical in many meals across the Middle East. In Israel, try falafel with salad made of tomato, onion, cucumber, and pepper. Egyptian cuisine uses the bountiful harvests of the Nile Valley—corn, eggplant, zucchini, chickpeas, and citrus fruits are popular in many dishes. In the United Arab Emirates, one-pot dishes like fareeth , a stew made with vegetables and bread, and al harees , a porridge of barley and meat, are popular.

Packing light is recommended for our Middle East tour packages. Try to keep your belongings to one suitcase and one carry-on per person, so you're comfortable managing your baggage at the airport.

Be sure to prepare for potential sun exposure by bringing sunscreen and having lightweight, loose-fitting layers. A comfortable pair of walking shoes is key, since you'll be on your feet exploring new destinations with local guides on tour.

When traveling, it's important to be informed of and respect local customs. In particular, women should take care to dress modestly when visiting the Middle East. While Dubai and Abu Dhabi are considered to be more liberal than some neighboring cities, local customs concerning dress are strict. Men and women should wear clothing that covers the tops of arms and legs, including the shoulders and knees. Women are required to be covered completely when entering mosques in the United Arab Emirates, so bring a scarf that you can wear over your head.
