Operated by Philadelphia Trolley Works, the Big Bus Sightseeing Tours are offered 7 days per week with frequent departures from the Northeast Corner of 5th & Market streets. Climb aboard the Double Decker Big Bus and enjoy the history, cultural attractions, dining and shopping along the route. Hop on and off at any of our 27 stops or just sit back and enjoy the ride!

See the steps that Rocky climbed, Enjoy an authentic cheese steak or Philadelphia Soft pretzel, celebrate Ben Franklin's 309th birthday, retrace the steps of our founding fathers, visit America's first Zoo or shop along South Street.

See The Big Bus staff to have your ticket validated. Guests just show their ticket to reboard the bus. Parking options are available at Stop 1 in the Independence Visitor Center parking garage or visit spothero.com for additional options.

• Weekend bookings within 48 hours must be by agent. Please call 215-389-8687.
• Group size 24 max (Call for larger groups).
• If your desired time slot is not available, please call 215-389-8687.
• BYOB: Beer/Wine only (No liquor). Please drink responsibly remove all trash.
• South Philadelphia BJ’s Parking Lot closest to PetSmart (2300 W. Oregon Avenue).
• 12th and Filbert Streets across from Maggiano’s Restaurant
• South Philadelphia Areas. Closest major street, parking area, or intersection. No small/side streets. There must be a safe loading zone subject to approval by PTW.
• Masks may be required.
• Cancellations initiated by the client will be subject to a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the booking value.
• Please note: Miracle on 13th St. will not be on display on November 24th and will be inaccessible on November 25th. Broad Street will be used as an alternate for this section of the route on these days. The site will be fully open beginning November 26th.

PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia tour company Founding Footsteps is celebrating the holiday season with their annual Holiday Light Tour.

Guests board the Jolly Trolley for a musically-led tour through Philadelphia's famous neighborhoods all decked out in lights.

The tour is BYOB and makes stops at the Miracle on South 13th Street, The Smedley Street Christmas Spectacular, Santa's Speakeasy at Craft Hall and Sto's Christmas Pop-Up.

The trolley has live music to get trolley riders in the holiday spirit.

The tours run until December 31st.

Historic house holiday tours return to Fairmount Park

If you’re searching for historic Christmas cheer this year, visit Fairmount Park! Starting December 1 , 2021 four of the park’s historic houses will deck the halls for the holiday season.

Not all holiday fun needs to cost a fortune! Guests can enjoy a free tour through any of the houses during the weekends before Christmas. Those who are able to contribute may “pay what you wish.” Donations help support upkeep of the houses and future events.  

Holiday tour dates vary between houses, be sure to check availability.  

The tour guides build each experience to fit the group they’re guiding. Guests of any age are welcome to join in the fun this holiday season.  

This year’s participating houses:

• Woodford Mansion  (3400 West Dauphin Dr.): Wednesday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. After Christmas, open December 26-29.  
• Historic Strawberry Mansion  (2450 Strawberry Mansion Dr.): Wednesday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Closed after Christmas.  
• Laurel Hill  (7201 N Randolph Dr.): Thursday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. After Christmas, open December 26-29.  
• Ormiston Mansion  (2000 Reservoir Drive, East Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, PA 19121)  

These four houses date back to the birth of the United States in the mid-to-late 1700s. Each property has its own, unique history. For more information on each specific house, follow the links above.  

Accessibility  

The houses’ historic designs create certain accessibility challenges. Guests with specific needs can call before visiting to learn about their options. The links above lead to pages with each house’s contact information for any questions.   

This year, there will be  no trolley tours  between the historic houses. Guests are free to walk or drive between the mansions. Each house is about a five minutes’ walk apart.  

Mask Policy  

Masks are mandatory at all times during a guest’s visit.

Founding Footsteps offers BYOB Holiday Lights Tour through Philly

The trolley visits some of philly's best light displays – and includes live music onboard.

Founding Footsteps' BYOB Holiday Lights Tour features live music. Here, local musicians wait for guests to board the festively decorated trolley.

Local sightseeing tour company Founding Footsteps is bringing back its popular BYOB Holiday Lights Tour for another season.

On board the festively decorated trolley, talented musicians will perform holiday tunes for guests, who can sing along as they ride through the city to some of Philly's best holiday light displays.

The trolley will stop at the Philadelphia Museum of Art for guests to take photos in front of a massive holiday tree covered in more than 10,000 LED lights, as well as South Philly's Smedley Street Christmas Light Spectacular, filled with twinkling lights and inflatable decorations.

Guests will also get to marvel at the  Miracle on 13th Street, a must-see, and check out Dilworth Park's holiday decorations while onboard.

For the ride, pizza will be provided to go with whatever beer or wine guests bring. And this year, there will be fun holiday-themed contests and giveaways on each tour.

Also new for 2019,  Philly's Gourmet Steaks  –  the starting and ending location in Old City –  will become a Christmas-themed bar for trolley riders.  Until the last trolley leaves each evening, only guests with tickets will be allowed entry into the pop-up bar, which will include  interactive holiday exhibits and a holiday gift shop with merchandise from local Philly artists.

Another new thing: private tours will get their  own professional photographer.

Tickets will go on sale on the Founding Footsteps website Wednesday, Sept. 25, beginning at noon. The price for tours Thursday through Sunday is $48 for adults, $44 for seniors and $30 for kids. The price for tours Monday through Wednesday is $44 for adults, $40 for seniors and $30 for kids.

Holiday Lights Tours will take take place throughout December and are around 2 hours long. When ordering online, click on the yellow button on the sightseeing company's website that says "Book Tours Now" for the most up-to-date information on time slots available.

And each week on its social media, Founding Footsteps will give away free tickets. Even those who have already purchased are eligible to win and if they do, they'll be refunded up to face value of the giveaway.

Find inspiration for your holiday celebrations while experiencing the rich architectural heritage of Chestnut Hill

Philadelphia’s longest running holiday tour! The Holiday season is a time to relive cherished traditions, and for Chestnut Hill, there is no better tradition than spending a day enjoying the Holiday House Tour. Our annual tour features the area’s loveliest historic homes decorated inside and out for the holidays. In recent years the tour included a charming cottage, a stately stone colonial, a three story Italianate Victorian, a second empire twin, and a Norman country house. Attendees have the option of riding our event trolley from stop to stop or visiting at their own pace in this self-guided tour. The tour is popular with both visitors and residents of Chestnut Hill, who come every year to discover a variety of dramatic homes while experiencing our neighborhood’s rich architectural heritage. This event is a major fundraiser for the Chestnut Hill Community Association and helps us provide services to our community throughout the year. 

There is no better tradition than spending a day in Chestnut Hill at the Holiday House Tour. Visit six unique, beautifully decorated homes. Expect some surprises along the way–live musical performances, and holiday treats.
