IJTP provides a forum for scholars and policy makers to exchange views and ideas at an international level on key issues that shape the growth of today's tourism industry. Article preparation

IJTP welcomes the submission of research papers and research notes. Papers should not exceed 6000 words (including figures, tables and references). IJTP also accepts research notes (1500 - 2000 words including an abstract of 100 words). Please indicate the number of words in your paper (for both types of articles).

Papers must be written in English and use UK spelling and terminology and be edited with the help of a native English speaker.

Use single or double-spacing, preferably in Times New Roman font size 12. All accepted papers will be properly formatted for publication.

Papers must contain a valid research question or hypothesis and should contribute to the literature, which may be incremental and must include the following (see more details here ):

Do not include the authors' names, biographical details or acknowledgements.

Ensure that the authors' names are not included in the document/file properties.

  • Submitted articles should not have been previously published or be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • Conference papers may only be submitted if the paper has been completely re-written ( more details available here ) and the author has cleared any necessary permissions with the copyright owner if it has been previously copyrighted.

Research in the International Journal of Tourism Policy has shown how social media platforms can influence holidaymakers and travellers in seeking out destinations that have been the victims of adverse events, natural disasters or conflicts. The colloquial term "revenge tourism" was coined in 2021 for this kind of vacation where people sought out experiences to combat the negative impact of lockdowns and lost time caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
