Mac keyboard shortcuts
By pressing certain key combinations, you can do things that normally need a mouse, trackpad, or other input device.
Using keyboard shortcuts
Common shorcuts like cut, copy, paste
Sleep, log out, and shut down shortcuts
Finder and system shortcuts, document shortcuts, accessibility shortcuts, other shortcuts.
To use a keyboard shortcut, press and hold one or more modifier keys and then press the last key of the shortcut. For example, to use Command-C (copy), press and hold the Command key, then the C key, then release both keys. Mac menus and keyboards often use symbols for certain keys , including modifier keys:
- Command (or Cmd) ⌘
- Option (or Alt) ⌥
- Control (or Ctrl) ⌃
- Caps Lock ⇪
On keyboards made for Windows PCs, use the Alt key instead of Option, and the Ctrl key or Windows logo key instead of Command.

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) — SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) — The Macerich Co. (MAC) on Tuesday reported a key measure of profitability in its first quarter. The results missed Wall Street expectations.
The Santa Monica, California-based real estate investment trust said it had funds from operations of $70.2 million, or 31 cents per share, in the period.
The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for funds from operations of 39 cents per share.
Funds from operations is a closely watched measure in the REIT industry. It takes net income and adds back items such as depreciation and amortization.
The company said it had a loss of $126.7 million, or 56 cents per share.
The shopping center real estate investment trust, based in Santa Monica, California, posted revenue of $208.8 million in the period, which also missed Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $217.3 million.

How-To Geek
Need a mac but it's too expensive rent one in the cloud.
No, not the one from Highlander.
Key Takeaways
- Renting a cloud-based Mac is beneficial for developers needing access to multiple hardware versions for software testing.
- Cloud Macs come preloaded with common development tools, but users need their own software licenses.
- Renting a Mac in the cloud allows regular users to access older software versions or try out the Mac experience without purchasing one.
While Macs may now have more than 16% of the personal computer market, it's still a relatively niche platform. So, when you have to access Mac hardware for a short time, or just to do a few things, it's hard to justify buying one outright, but what if you could just rent one for a day or a month?
Why Rent a Mac in the Cloud?
There are numerous reasons why you would want to rent a cloud-based Mac rather than buying a physical system for yourself. The main customer market here are developers. If you want to develop an app for Mac, it's a tall order to own every applicable iteration of the hardware. You may need to test your software on older versions of macOS, or maybe you have to ensure that your software works on Apple Silicon when you're still rocking an Intel Mac Pro.
Macs in the Cloud are so commonly used for development purposes, that most of them come preloaded with the most common development tools, ready to go. Though you still need to pay for your own software licenses!
That's not to say that regular folks who aren't software developers don't have reasons to look into renting a Mac in the cloud. If you need access to an app that only runs on an older version of macOS, want to use it as a private way to browse, or access a private computer from any web browser, then it makes sense. Of course, it could have been a different type of computer, but some people simply prefer macOS—and that's OK!
It can also be a great way to see if you like the whole Mac experience before forking out thousands of dollars for one. There's also an argument to be made for using a cloud Mac to edit video or audio, though as you'll see below, that's only going to work under ideal circumstances. There are probably plenty of niche reasons you might want to do this that I could never imagine, if you had only known it was an option!
How Renting Macs in the Cloud Works
Just as you can with Windows or Linux computers, you can pay to have access to a Mac that's snugly nestled somewhere in a data center that's (hopefully) not too far away from you. The exact terms and conditions of the Mac you'll be renting will differ based on the service tier and the specific company you're using. In some cases, you may only have access to the Mac for a certain number of metered hours per day. Some providers even offer you a daily rate, and you pay as you use the service.
If you're using a Mac to host a server or otherwise need it to be online all the time or for longer than just a few days a month, expect to pay for that privilege. Cloud-based Macs come in two flavors: bare metal and virtualized . When you rent a bare metal Mac, there's a whole physical Mac in that data center that's all yours. For as long as you're using it, that is.
Virtualized Macs are virtual machines and there may be many of them running on the same physical hardware. These have their own advantages, including being less expensive and easy to roll back if something goes wrong. However, it's not the same as running or testing software on real native Mac hardware. Some Mac rentals give you full administrative access, others are "managed" and you have to request anything that requires admin privileges.
What Is Using a Mac in the Cloud Like?
There are quite a few companies that will let you rent a mac in the cloud, but I decided to try it for myself using a company called Mac In Cloud . Their pricing is highly-flexible. They have a pay-as-you-go option, where you can pay per hour or per day. I decided to rent a managed server which gave me access to an M2 Mac Mini for around $30 a month.
Once you've signed up and paid, you'll get an email with all the details of your Mac. This includes the login credentials as well as everything you need to know to access it and set up access on your local machine. You can download dedicated remote desktop software, or you can simply visit a web page.
If you want to do anything that relies on low-latency responsiveness or good image quality, then I strongly suggest using a dedicated remote desktop client. The web interface can be quite laggy, though, of course, your mileage may vary. Since this is cloud-streaming, there are numerous factors that affect the performance of the service. I chose a Mac in a data center as close to me as possible, but it was still quite far away. I suspect if I was within 100 miles of the data center it would have been hard to tell I was using the cloud at all.
Once you're logged in, it's just like using any macOS system. The only difference is that it's miles away, and you might need permission from a system administrator before installing your software, but other than that, there's little to dislike about the cloud option for Mac hardware!

Sign in to your Microsoft account with Windows Hello
If you’re tired of having to remember or reset your password, try using Windows Hello to sign in to your Microsoft account instead. All you’ll need is a device running Windows 11 and the Microsoft Edge browser. (This functionality is not available yet on Xbox or phones.)
What is Windows Hello?
Windows Hello is a more personal way to sign in, using your face, fingerprint, or a PIN. You can use Windows Hello to sign in to your device on the lock screen and sign in to your account on the web.
How to sign in with Windows Hello
Follow these steps to set up Windows Hello and then sign in to your Microsoft account in Microsoft Edge:
Select Start > Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options .
Under Ways to sign in , select a Windows Hello item to add.
To add Windows Hello as a sign in method for your Microsoft account:
Go to the Microsoft account page and sign in as you normally would.
Select Security > Advanced security options .
Select Add a new way to sign in for verify .
Select Use your Windows PC .
Follow the instructions to set up Windows Hello as a method for signing in.
Go to the Start menu and select Settings .
Go to Accounts > Sign-in options .
Under Manage how you sign in to your device , select a Windows Hello item to add.
Important: Signing in with your face requires a Hello-compatible camera. Signing in with your fingerprint requires your device to have a fingerprint reader. If your device didn't come with one of those you can purchase one that can be connected to your device via USB from any of a number of popular retailers.
Select Security > More security options
Select Add a new way to sign in for verify
Select Use your Windows PC
Follow the dialogs to set up Windows Hello as a method for signing in.

4 days with KET safari
Didnt go so well for me. Paul (Francis, and Purity) spoke very nicely, and did coordinate the safari, however he wasnt available. Francis, the driver/guide took us to safari. 1. The hotel room that was promised in Nairobi (Sarova Stanley) was not for a family size. His phone was switched off; then I had to dispute with one of his assistants (Purity), to get a little larger room. My wife didnt like the "argument" part right when were about to begin our safari. Turned out Room price was ~USD150, however we were charged USD450. But, that surely is my bad, should have done my research well. I guess we can find better options in this money. 2. The 4x4 is in a very weary-teary condition. Used up tyres, broken seats, jammed windows, doors not opening, etc. If you are with kids, then request for a car that is in better shape. 3. For some reason, with those bald tyres we had two punctures on our way back, and lost 2 hours in fixing the tyres and waiting at the service station to fix those. My kids were annoyed. 4. Just one last note: They kept on explicitly mentioning and repeating about the "Tips". I am fine with Tips. However, my point of view is that, Tips should come natural from the guest, based on how well you(or driver or guide) treat your guest. If someone had to give the tip, they would do that anyway; others wont. Happy safari.
we are grateful for the review.Personally,am happy you enjoyed the safari despite the challenges that you mentioned on the road and condition of the car of which i wasn't aware of it till mentioned in the review since its our first case to deal with such condition. am aware that our vehicles are in good condition and well maintained to make our clients comfortable while on safari but since you noted it be rest assured to find a change.THANK YOU and Welcome back to our lovely country.
We are a family of 4, two kids of 4& 3 years. My brother and sister in law were traveling with us. We had a 6 day safari ( March 2015) in Amboseli, Lake Nakuru and Massai Mara. Paul the manager was very helpful and arranged everything giving us different options to choose from and answering all our queries very fast and clear. At the end the accomodations he picked for us were great.Very niece rooms, beds and good food. We picked a Land cruiser which was perfect for our family. Tony the driver and guide was very respectful, kind and niece with the kids. He made our safari the best experience ever, the drives between parks were very long but he helped us with everything we needed so it was very comfortable. While gaming Tony did not rest until he found all the animals we wanted to see and much more!!! Our last wish was to see a Hienna and he found it for us. We saw all the animals in different situations!!! It was one of the best experiences we have had in our lives. If you go with this company you will only regret that you couldn´t stay more days!!! Thank you Tony and Paul everything was perfect!!!
We are grateful for such a wonderful review and above all for the experience you had in our country and safari .Our objective as a company is to make sure our clients have the best from us a company.THANK YOU!!!ASANTE SANA!! And welcome once more to our lovely country.
My friends and I went on a 3-day Maasai Mara safari with KET in February 2015. It was not the cheapest option, but it was well organised and enjoyable. The manager, Paul, was very responsive in accommodating our schedule and requirements. Our guide and driver, Jackson, was going out of his way to make our experience unforgettable. We stayed at Sarova Camp, which was wonderful.
Am humbled with your awesome review recommending our company. All i can just add on is that, KETS, helps to unveil the beauty of our country. KARIBU TENA to our lovely country.
Paul from KETS was very responsive and helpful answering our many queries when we made and changed our arrangements for a three-day safari to Masai Mara Park in February 2015. As promised Jackson arrived on time to collect us from the hotel in Nairobi at the start of our trip. We were offered the choice of a minivan or the slightly more expensive, and more comfortable land cruiser. I would recommend the land cruiser because you definitely don’t want to be less comfortable than that. The terrain for the last two hours of the drive to Masai Mara and on the safari is bumpy, and as the vehicle negotiates ditches and dips you can get a slightly rough ride at times. Jackson worked hard from the time he picked us up. He asked each of us what we wanted to see, and managed our expectations by making it clear that we probably wouldn’t see all of the animals we listed over the three days. The whole time we were on safari Jackson was in touch with other guides via radio, finding out where there had been sightings of the animals we wanted to see. There were several other trucks out the first day, and it seemed they were all taking the lead from Jackson, moving in, getting a better angle and moving off when he did. He kept finding us a better view by driving around a bush that was obscuring the animal. The first day we saw a lioness, a cheetah, giraffes, elephants and zebras, giselles, and lots more besides. The second day we went out from 7.30-4pm to cover more of the park and we saw so much more, and this time we were alone much of the time – no other safari trucks so it felt more intimate and special. We saw hippopotamus, wild boar, rhinoceros, eland, buffalo, crocodile, more giraffes, zebras, lots of baby animals and many of them up close. The highlight for me was the lion and lioness hanging out together under a tree, and a little later a cheetah with her three cubs. I understand some people have been on much longer safaris and not seen lions! It was amazing. Because of Jackson’s 15 years of experience and conscientious hard work the safari exceeded my expectations by far.
A safari ends teamwork in order to bring out success. KETS is well experienced and through teamwork and favor from almighty GOD we have managed to make clients happy and enjoyable.THANK YOU and KARIBU to country time and time in order to unveil the beauty of our country.
Booked a 4 night 5 day safari with kets safaris in 2013 but had to cancel due to illness. Paul Mwenda, kets boss, was very kind and kept my deposit open until I was better. We left Nairobi with our driver/ guide Duncan and headed for 2 nights at Amboseli, 1 night Tsavo West, 1 night Tsavo East then dropped off at our beach hotel. Duncan was perfect, very knowledgeable, laid back and polite. Game drives were memorable sighting more animals than I can remember, highlights were Leopard, Lions, Cheetahs and surprisingly a family of hyenas. I would very happily recommend Kets safaris, and would like to thank them for all their help.
Trust in any organisation must be adhered to in order to come up with success. Am grateful for the trust you have given my company and with that we as KETS are thankful for your review.Thank you very much!!! Asante sana!!And welcome to our lovely country. KARIBU TENA.!!!
I would say KET is the best tour operator in Kenya. They made our Safari successful with their best professional and friendly approach. They placed our comfort before profit and provided services that must have severely limited their profit. Their driver, the vehicle, the hotels and resorts that they provided in the package was worth more than what I paid. Driver Francis is finest drivers on Kenyan roads and in game parks. His knowledge and understanding of wildlife and nature around helps one enjoy the safari and see all that is there on offer. His patience and friendliness is non-comparable. I highly recommend KET to anyone going to Kenya for a short or long tour. I am sure Paul will offer you what ever you want and at a cost you can not beat. Dr Arun Patel, UK.
What more has to been said other than you who wants to visit our country take a step and inquire with us at Kenya expresso tours and safari and surely you will not regret it since what we provide is more than the amount as quoted in the review.Thank you and welcome to our country once again.
