Location and contact, michelin guide's point of view.

Ever since it opened, le 52 has been consistent in great food, great mood and cool crowd. It's one of those great places where you enjoy the whole experience and not only the food.

It's wonderful to find a bright inventive bistro in this neighborhood, with excellent food and especially delicious wine, Wonderful service, in a relaxed environment, with enough space and a few tables outside. The mostly young crowd seemed to be enjoying all of it, I had ice... More

Chef Juliette Camboulas, just remember this! 26 yo woman, passion, love and extremely imaginative! I think we will hear about this chef in the future! I went in this restaurant with my mom for her birthday. We don't have reservation and to be honest, at... More

Wonderful freshly prepared food, from a menu with great imagination. Magic atmosphere - no surprise that it is so popular! Service excellent from friendly staff - nothing too much trouble. The restaurant has appeal and charm for locals and for visitors. Well worth a visit... More

Without a doubt...to me this place is one of the best restaurants in Paris! The restaurant is modern, the atmosphere is great and the staff are very helpful and happy to answer any question. The quality of the food is amazing and always an extra... More

Original and delicious food ! Reasonable Parisian price (Mains course 18€ / Starter 8€ / Desert 6-8€ / Wine 28-100€) ! Beautiful furniture and decoration ! Customer care : friendly but a bit slow.

We ate here twice during our visit in Paris. Great food. Great service. They change their menu for only fresh food! Highly recommended.

I think I am in love. With this restaurant experience. How can anyone eat there and be so blazé that they cannot wax completely lyrical about the poet in the kitchen? A very unassuming Charles Compagnon tells you at the door that you can chose:... More

Avoid at all cost. The host is THE incarnation of a terrible, unfriendly host. When arriving with friends, he wasn’t able to say in a polite way that the restaurant is full, he just shooed us out without saying a word. The place was not... More

My second time dining here. In winter of 2018 I had an unbelievable piece of fish and my companion had the veal. Both were delectable. I returned in July 2019 and ordered the burrata to start, and the veal. The burrata was scrumptious! Flanked by... More

The food is simply great! I had a duck and I am not disappointed. It is slightly too dark inside but the food beats it all

One of the best restaurants in town where no reservations are needed. Nine out of ten times we had amazing food. Great location in one of Paris most diverse neighborhoods. Especially starters and desserts are usually outstanding.

On this trip to Paris, I was surprised to find that many restaurants have gone to being open Monday thru Friday only. Since I did not do my usual pre-planning of every meal, I had to scramble a bit for a good choice on a... More

Ratings and reviews

Location and contact, michelin guide's point of view.

Slightly pretentious, but really good food and great ambience. My fish was perfectly cooked and the Japanese tea sauce was like nothing I'd ever tasted - in a good way. Likewise the carpaccio. The homemade ice-cream was to die for, and there is an excellent... wine list. The service is best described as charmingly shambolic. After waiting 10 minutes for a bottle of Riesling, and repeated reminders to the lovely waitress, I went behind the bar and took a bottle from the fridge. Both the owner and waitress were hugely amused by this, and we all had a good laugh. I understand why it's a bit marmite but I love the place. Great food, great atmosphere, and I love the fact that they don't take reservations, the bane of my life. More

Nice restaurant with good food, but the music was too loud. We didn’t order a desert because of that. A very nice restaurant for young people. Can’t understand why the fork is very big and the knife is very small. We ordered the pâté de... Campagne. Very good. Than the veal, but the meat was not cut correctly. Hard to cut with the very small knife. More

This restaurant is just a to eat place in Paris. The food is amazing with some classics but also some very good modern or revisited food. The restaurant has a very pleasant contemporary atmosphere. It is worth its place in the Michelin guide !

Second visit, having had a great time a few months previously. This time, though, a total shambles. Dishes arriving in random order; two main courses forgotten altogether; a bizarre and barely edible cold aubergine main course, and, worst of all, a piece of almost raw... fish. When I sent it back the waiter said "So it's not cooked as much as you like?" No, it was barely opaque on the top and completely raw underneath. If I'd wanted sashimi I would have ordered it. This was a Sunday evening so maybe the B-team was in the kitchen, but they would have been better not to open at all. This was a really poor evening, with sub-home cooking, in a restaurant we were excited to re-visit. There will not a third trip, and they had better hope the Michelin people weren't in the night we were there. More

One hour for lentils with an egg (19€). I asked the waiter, he answered that preparation takes time. Probably the hen was busy in other business. It was enough to say: "I have lost the order.." Good, but expensive and very bad service.

I walked in this place and found it lovely and the menu was v interesting. I explained my allergy and was told it would be fine. My starter came, waiter declared loudly it was gluten free. And there was a sea of croutons on top... of it. They apologised profusely and brought back another. I inspected it and it looked ok. Until I found a crouton when having my second bite. So the usual careless approach, let us just remove the offending and obvious bits. Again waiter explained he was sorry. When approached the manager said he was busy, and wa a quote dismissive but I was welcome just to leave with my half drunk glass of wine on the house. Hmmm. As I said the place seems generally nice, but it is obvious they don’t care or know how to care for allergies. So strongly recommend to stay far away. More

We didn't plan our dining arrangements for Sunday evening, and yes, the restaurants, in large part, do close on Sunday evening. So, we walked a bit, and then walked a bit more, and then came upon a restaurant, 52, which had been listed in Frommers.... We had passed quite a few places that were closed, and as it happens, this spot - Le 52 - was fantastic! Worth the stroll. We had burrata, paté, veal, beef and pork, all of which were delicious. The servers were quite attentive and very courteous and friendly. We were lucky that we arrived when we did as the place really, really filled up quickly. The price, for appetizers, entrees, dessert, coffee and wine for two of us was 102 Euros. We thought it was a very reasonable price, and the dining experience was outstanding. More

Got here when it opened and was packed by 8 pm, so recommend factoring that into your dinner plan. Delicious food and nice waiters who humored us through our jet lag and misuse of multiple languages. Definitely recommend this place!

Read a review of Le 52 in the Eurostar onboard magazine and decided to head there for lunch on arrival. We both chose to have 2 starters rather than a main course. My leek tart was a deconstructed thing beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The... burrata with tapenade and a peppery olive oil was an assembly of top quality ingredients. Definitely worth visiting. More

This was clearly a restaurant for the french locals, who filled the place from 12.30pm onwards. Lucky for us we had booked a table otherwise you may well have found yourself unlucky and turned away. The restaurant is situated not too far from the famous... Folies Bergère in the 2nd Arrondissement. The food was French cuisine at its best; exciting, tasty and beautifully presented. All four of us had a very pleasant lunch made even more enjoyable by the two lads waiting our table that were both outstanding and very knowledgeable, a joy. To accompany the lunch we firstly had a lovely 2015 Coteaux Cairanne which we followed with an even better Domaine de la Mordoree 2016. Both reasonably priced as was the lunch. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough - great lunch and hope one day to return. With coffees the bill came to €60 each, money well spent. More

Another understated restaurant in Paris. The simple typed menu gives little indication of how great the food is. Limited choice (of food, not wine, which is extensive) but that's good. The duck was excellent (although a sharper knife would be appreciated) and dessert was different... (rhubarb & avocado mousse!) but a way to lovely finish. Wait staff happy to converse in French or English. Would definitely go back. More

I love this typical French bistro which is outside the core tourist area (and near an office I work out of). The food is always fresh and creative and the menu changes every day. The staff are very helpful in explaining each dish (usually there... is an English menu, but not always). I have been four times and each time was excellent! More

Great food looking gorgeous in a laid back modern bistro environment, just 2 metro stops away from Gare du Nord. Loved the music too, not too hip not too vintage. Kitchen opens at 7pm for dinner, no reservations.

le 52 tours

Tasty, thoughtfull arrangements and a great choice in wine. 52 is situated in one of the lifeliest and loveliest streets of Paris. After diner walk passes the Canal-st. Martin.

le 52 tours

Excellent ingredients, dishes, exciting combinations that work well together...Very nice touch that the wine by the glass can be tasted before committing. Service couldn't be better. Very high quality. Very contemporary and cozy space. Loved everything about it. Exceptionnel, vraiment!

52 Faubourg Saint Denis Restaurant in Paris | Paris By Mouth

After  L’Office  and  Le Richer  (one of our favorite new openings of 2013 ), Charles Compagnon is back with another gift for the Faubourg. If he has run out of ideas for restaurant names, the same cannot be said for the dishes coming out of his kitchen. The compact menu with 3-4 choices per course contains plenty that we want to eat: well-roasted duck with coco beans, corn and kale, and an egg yolk ravioli with ham and mushrooms that was satisfyingly reminiscent of one of our favorite dishes at  L’Office . Beyond the very good wine list, special attention has been paid to other liquids, starting with their own café Compagnon (roasted by Coutume), including a beer called La Maryse created in collaboration with Dirk Naudrs from De Proef, and finishing with a selection of very special small batch eaux de vie from Christoph Keller at the Stählemühle distillery. Like at  Le Richer , this place is open every day with continuous service from 8am to midnight. No reservations, but you can wait (or eat, or drink) at the bar.

IN OTHER WORDS

Lost in Cheeseland (2015) “I like to go for breakfast — big, airy chouquettes, granola and coffee — but my weakness is lunch and dinner where I always find myself surprised and comforted.”

John Talbott (2015) “Astonishing food from a ‘neighborhood cantine.'”

Lost in Cheeseland  (2014) “The menu was in the same spirit as Le Richer – fresh, flavorful, creative – but the dining room more spacious and breathable.”

John Talbott (2014) “I had some of the best slices of beef in my life (tenderly undercooked to perfection without my asking) with a potato puree Robuchon would die for, bok choi, black sesame and watercress.”

Alexander Lobrano (2014) “Compagnon has gambled that young Parisians will like the idea of a relaxed friendly no-reservations-required restaurant with healthy, affordable, interesting contemporary cooking as much as New Yorkers or Londoners do. And they do. But this address is also a really appealing address for visitors to Paris, since it’s open daily from 8am to midnight–they serve light eats outside of the main lunch and dinner serving hours, the prices are relatively reasonable, and it offers a keyhole view of one of Paris’s most interesting neighborhoods right now.”

Excellent ingredients, dishes, exciting combinations that work well together...Very nice touch that the wine by the glass can be tasted before committing. Service couldn't be better. Very high quality. Very contemporary and cozy space. Loved everything about it. Exceptionnel, vraiment!

My second time dining here. In winter of 2018 I had an unbelievable piece of fish and my companion had the veal. Both were delectable. I returned in July 2019 and ordered the burrata to start, and the veal. The burrata was scrumptious! Flanked by two coulis, olive oil, and course salt - so good. The veal I have to admit was a little disappointing - not as melt in your mouth as I remember it, but don't get me wrong, it was still good. The sides are where I feel the creativity of the chef truly shine - I wanted more roasted eggplant and fennel salad. The atmosphere is fun, not pretentious. The servers are very kind and service overall is excellent. It's a fun place to dine, even if alone. Plenty of spaces at the bar.

Great food looking gorgeous in a laid back modern bistro environment, just 2 metro stops away from Gare du Nord. Loved the music too, not too hip not too vintage. Kitchen opens at 7pm for dinner, no reservations.

Will return. Their wine glasses caught my eyes. It's on a small street - St. Denis - that's filled with restaurants and cafes and bars. This one has both indoor and outdoor seatings. We sit inside - I can't take the smokers. French music. Great food, bread, and great wines. They let you taste the wine first - which is great. The mozzarella is just simply wonderful. The table next to us - threesome order two -:). Also they have teas from China - no I didn't try. The only down side is - they provide too much bread - I almost eat them all -:) of course it's their fault ha ha ha In general I find restaurants, acafes in that matter have less waiting staff and they work very efficiently. They don't come to chat. They serve and don't brother you unless you signal them. Well it's a profession in Europe ... working seamlessly is beautiful to watch.

What to see and do in historic Tours in the heart of the Loire Valley

Cobbled streets, lined with half-timbered houses and shops in ancient buildings in Tours, Loire Valley

Tours in the department of Centre is the gateway city to the Loire Valley. It makes for a great base to visit the area. But, it’s a terrific place to visit in its own right with wide and grand avenues, a charming old town and Haussmanesque style architecture mixed with medieval, Renaissance and modern. In parts it’s reminiscent of Paris and has in fact been acting capital of France on more than one occasion.

The city centre has a lively air. The old part of town is home to a famous cathedral and winding cobbled streets lined with cafés and restaurants and half-timbered houses.

Discover museums, pretty streets to roam, quirky boutiques and lots of shops. There’s loads to do when you’re not tasting wine in vineyards or chateau hopping in the countryside around.

At just an hour from Paris by train it’s very easy to reach…

Cobbled streets and captivating cafés

Colourful umbrellas over tables set out in Place Plumereau, a popular square for aperitifs in Tours, Loire Valley

Tours has a laidback vibe and nowhere is this more obvious than in the charming pedestrianised Place Plumereau in Vieux Tours (the old part of town). Once called the carroi aux chapeau, the hat market, it is lined with 15th century wood-framed and stone-gabled houses, many of them have been converted into cafés, bistros and restaurants.

This little square was voted the best place in France for an aperitif – it’s easy to see why. Tables and chairs spill out onto the square, colourful umbrellas add a splash of colour, an ancient mulberry tree presides. An exuberant atmosphere hangs over the square thanks to it being popular throughout the day for coffee, lunch, ice cream, aperitifs and dinner. Take your pick from a whole raft of excellent eateries (try Les Trois Rois for somewhere atmospheric, pretty and loved by the locals).

All round Place Plumereau are a hodgepodge of cobbled streets with more cafés, restaurants and shops.

Historic Tours

Woman walks down a cobbled street to a leafy square in Tours, Loire Valley

The Cathedral of Tours is a masterpiece of architecture ranging from flamboyant Gothic to Romanesque and Renaissance. There are some truly spectacular stained glass windows, some of them almost 800 years old. Started in 1239 it took some 300 years to complete and the charming cloisters of the Cathedral featured in Balzac’s Curé de Tours (the character of Madame Garnard lived there).

Inside, a marble tomb is the last resting place of the heirs to the Valois dynasty, the young sons of Charles VIII and Anne of Bretagne. When Charles VIII died (1498) she married his cousin, Louis XII, as he wanted her lands. He had to divorce his wife Jeanne who was interrogated in Tours by church judges who ruled the marriage had never been consummated. The result left him free to marry Anne (Jeanne was later canonised to became Saint Joan of Valois). Anne and Louis had two daughters, one of whom married Francis I, which led to the formal union of France and Brittany.

Where old Tours meets new Tours

Woman holding a printing block demonstrates how wallpaper is made to centuries old traditions in Tours

There really are enough historic buildings here to please the most ardent history lover. Don’t miss the Musée de Beaux Arts which is located in the former Archbishop’s Palace. It houses a wonderful collection of paintings, ceramics and furnishings including silk panels. Tours was once a thriving silk production centre with 20,000 weavers, after Louis XI (King from 1461-1483) moved production from Lyons saying people were too lazy there.

It’s a mix of old and new here. And they’re not done yet. There’s an ongoing programme of opening up walkways along the river, providing more places to eat, drink and shop. In 2017 a brand new and unique art centre opened, the Centre de Création Contemporaine Olivier Debré . It is contemporary, innovative and hosts mesmerising exhibitions.

And, bringing the old and new together, visit the Atelier d’Ofard , where wallpaper is made by hand to the old methods used in the 17th century. If you’ve ever wondered how the amazing wallpaper you see in Chateaux, such as in the bedroom of Marie-Antoinette at Versailles, then this visit reveals the secrets and history of wallpaper making using wooden blocks and hand mixed pigment. It’s a unique and fascinating tour.

All this discovery builds up an appetite. Luckily you’re in the right place to truly indulge – click here to read about where to eat out in Tours , the places the locals love!

15 Best Things to Do in Tours (France)

It’s no mystery that Tours is a favourite base for people discovering the Loire Valley’s exalted châteaux.

Villandry, Chenonceau and Amboise are moments by car, and with the help of the Loire à Vélo network you can visit them on two wheels with ease.

But you may find that if you delve a little more into Tours’ history and attractions, it could be difficult to leave the city at all.

In the centre are timber houses and renaissance mansions on car-free streets, and museums that draw you into the city’s medieval past.

There are vineyards welcoming inquisitive oenophiles in the countryside and both the waters and banks of the Loire invite you to go wherever your sense of curiosity leads.

Lets explore the best things to do in Tours :

1. Tours Cathedral

Tours Cathedral

Even by the glacial speed of construction in the middle ages, Tours Cathedral took a long time to be completed.

Building began in 1170 and wouldn’t be finished until 1547, but this means we’re met with a perfect summary of the evolution of gothic art.

The ensemble of original 13th-century stained glass windows in the ambulatory chapels and above the choir is one of the finest in France, and seems to generate its own light.

The cathedral has information panels giving you the meaning behind each image.

The marble renaissance tombs of King Charles VIII and Anne of Brittany’s children are also moving, as both died in infancy.

2. Musée des Beaux-Arts de Tours

Musée des Beaux-Arts de Tours

The riches from Cardinal Richelieu’s 17th-century campaign against the Huguenots and the art seized from abbeys during the Revolution all ended up at Tours’ stellar museum of fine art.

Because of their religious source there’s a good body of Italian gothic primitives from the 14th and 15th centuries, while the two renaissance paintings by Andrea Mentegna are regarded as masterpieces.

You’ve got over a thousand artworks to get through, with sculpture by Rodin, Flemish and Dutch painting by Rembrandt and Rubens, and Impressionism by Monet and Degas.

3. Tours Botanical Garden

Tours Botanical Garden

The city’s municipal garden has a bit of a troublesome setting, between the Loire and Cher, which made it susceptible to flooding in the past, with two devastating inundations in the mid-19th century that filled the greenhouses with two metres of water.

Even after being hit by bombs in the Second World War there isn’t the slightest hint of a troubled past at these serene gardens.

On your walk you may notice some trees you haven’t seen before, like the Chinese empress tree, ginkgo biloba and the endangered dawn redwood.

The animal park is from 1863 and has farm animals for kids to bond with, as well as more exotic species like wallabies.

4. Le Vieux Tours

Place de Plumereau

Like all the best historic city centres the historic buildings on the pedestrian streets around Place Plumereau aren’t sterile museum pieces but vibrant cornerstones of local life, used as shops, restaurants and bars.

Place de Plumereau is at the nerve centre of one of the largest conservation areas in Europe, with renaissance mansions boasting sculpted reliefs or cantilevered timber houses, going strong for hundreds of years.

If you’re OK with everybody knowing you’re a tourist, jump aboard the little train that departs every hour from Place Plumereau in summer.

5. Musée du Compagnonnage

Abbey of Saint-Julien

In the 16th-century Dormitory at the former Abbey of Saint-Julien is a museum devoted to a French workers’ movement that dates back to medieval times.

Roughly, the Compagnons du Tour de France is like a guild of journeymen that preserves historic trades and educates young people about them as part of an apprenticeship.

To complete the apprenticeship and become a “companion” a craftsman had to create a masterpiece for whatever discipline he worked in.

And these dumbfounding creations are presented at the museum, in all kinds of different disciplines, like metalwork, tailoring, shoemaking and woodcarving.

6. Hôtel Goüin

Hôtel Goüin

What may be the most beautiful of Tours’ many old building has just come through a long restoration and is open to the public once more.

Hôtel Goüin is an early-renaissance palace on Rue du Commerce, with a balustraded porch and the sort of loggia in which you might expect to see Juliet calling for Romeo.

During the restoration they unearthed fragments of an older building from the 1100s, with four arches and a well, which are on show.

You might just want to stop for a photo of that magnificent facade, but there’s an archaeological museum inside with artefacts from Roman times up to the 1800s.

7. Halles de Tours

Halles de Tours

Billed as the “Belly of Tours” (ventre de Tours), the city’s indoor market may not be France’s largest, but it’s a gastronome’s idea of heaven.

You may even want to bring your camera or have your phone at the ready, because the cheese, charcuterie, seafood and in-season fruit and vegetable counters are presented with real flair.

If you’re stuck for gift ideas then markets like this tick the box as they’re stocked with all the best from the region.

At Tours that entails wine from the Loire Valley and luxury chocolate.

The city is one of France’s chocolate capitals, and every years holds the Salon du Chocolat de Tours at the Centre de Congrès Vinci.

Come for lunch too: The oyster bar shucks your oyster as you go.

8. Jardin des Prébendes d’Oé

Jardin des Prébendes d'Oé

During the French Second Empire from the mid-1800s English-style parks like this one popped up in provincial cities across France.

This was a spot for urban families to take promenades, kids to play and for the city to put on outdoor concerts at the park’s gazebo.

There’s less of the formality of French parterres, as paths weave through tulip flowerbeds and  copses of lime, plane, cedar, chestnut and lofty redwood trees.

So if you could do with a moment of repose take a wander by the pond and pause for a tea or coffee at the kiosk.

On warmer days you could load up on cheese and charcuterie at the market and have the perfect French picnic.

9. Église Saint-Julien de Tours

Église Saint-Julien de Tours

The predecessors of this  12th-century abbey were wrecked by the Normans in the 9th century and then in a war between the feudal houses of Blois and Anjou in the 10th century.

But miraculously the building that followed has survived everything from the French Revolution to the Second World War.

It was part of a long-gone abbey, and the garden next to the church is where the cloister used to be, while the Musée de Compagnonnage occupies the old dormitory.

10. “Toue” River Cruises

Toue River cruises

Commercial craft floated along the Loire and Cher since antiquity, hauling people, wine, silk, lumber, salt and all sorts of other cargo up and down these rivers.

Because the waterways can get very shallow they used flat-bottomed sailboats called “toues”, and you can too! Toues can carry between 12 and 30 passengers for hour-long trips, or even romantic dinner cruises in the evening.

Their skippers know these waters and banks like the backs of their hands: And with the deck as your balcony, they’ll shed light on the Tours’ river trade, its many colourful characters and perils.

11. Loire à Vélo

Loire à Vélo

If you had to picture some quintessentially French holiday activities, a bike ride next to the Loire with a backdrop of gentle vine-striped hills and châteaux must be one of the first that comes to mind.

About 150km of the of the Loire à Vélo cycle trail’s totalling 800km are in the Touraine region.

The route is clearly-marked, easy -going because it never leaves the riverside and convenient as there are dozens of hire stations along the way.

You could give yourself set destinations like Amboise or Villandry, which are both reachable in about an hour.

Or make more of an adventure of it by going further afield and spending the night at the inns on the route that are happy to accommodate cyclists.

12. Guinguette sur Loire

Guinguette sur Loire

On the left bank of the Loire, just by Pont Wilson, is where Tours’ “Guinguette” takes place from May to September.

It isn’t officially summer in Tours until this outdoor café by the river is bustling every evening with locals and tourists at the bar terrace, taking part in dance lessons, enjoying concerts or watching movies at the outdoor cinema.

Tours is a student city so the atmosphere is always warm and energetic.

The location is wonderful, under willow trees and string lights, with the river rolling past.

And every year there Guinguette has something new on the schedule.

13. Wine and Gastronmic Visits

Touraine Sauvignon

If you’re a wine-lover you’ve come to the right place.

There’s an absurd amount of AOCs nearby: A dozen within an hour, and five bordering the city.

The diversity will make your head spin more than the wine itself, with the reds of Touraine-Chenonceau, the whites of Touraine Sauvignon and rosés made in Touraine noble joué.

When it comes to precious foodstuffs there’s a saffron market in Preuilly-sur-Claise and a seasonal truffle market at Marigny-Marmande.

The local cheese, Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine is known to all for its cylindrical shape and the straw that pierces it through the centre.

To know more, pay a visit to the dairy at Les Passerelles or the child-friendly goat farm, Cabri au Lait, which makes Sainte-Maure but also has a petting zoo for the little guys and girls.

14. Château de Villandry

Château de Villandry

It would be criminal to visit Tours and not call in at one of the abundant château in the region.

Tours is touted as a gateway for these sensational pieces of French royal or noble heritage.

You can reach Villandry in 20 minutes, and it’s one of the finest.

The gardens are the showstopper at this château.

They were restored at the turn of the century by the Spanish doctor Joachim Carvallo.

He conceived several terraces of renaissance gardens, all with precisely trimmed boxwood hedges in joyous geometric configurations.

There’s a water garden, labyrinth, sun garden, ornamental garden with high hedges, but the most astounding is the formal medieval kitchen garden, all in neat plots.

15. Château d’Amboise

Château d'Amboise

The home of Francis I and most of the French royalty in the 16th century is a 20-minute car or train ride to the east.

The château had its heyday in the renaissance period after Charles VIII turned it from a fortress into the Loire valley’s first Italian-style palace in the late-1400s.

In 1516 Francis I invited Leonardo da Vinci to live and work in Amboise, and the polymath’s home at Clos Lucé was actually connected to the Château d’Amboise by underground passageways that you can discover today by prior arrangement.

Da Vinci died here in 1519 and is buried at the Chapel of Saint-Hubert at the Château.

The gardens are embellished with spherical topiaries and the views from this spur above the Loire are divine.

Bee Le Havre City Tour – Frequently Asked Questions

Important: are you coming to le havre with a cruise ship.

First of all, keep in mind that we will usually contact you by e-mail after your booking, so please check your spam folder as our e-mails often end up there after you have booked (And of course, check the spelling of your e-mail address when booking).

Then, you have to know that we’re also cruise passengers at Bee Le Havre Team. We love this way of traveling and discovering the world, and often take part in cruises. As a result, we’re well aware of the constraints that can affect your travels, such as the cancellation of a call. So don’t worry:

– If the call of your cruise ship in Le Havre is ever cancelled, you will of course be automatically refunded in full. There’s no need to contact us – don’t worry, we’re usually the first to know about the cancellation of a stopover.

– If your cruise ship ever changes the date of your call in Le Havre, no problem either, no need to cancel your reservation. We’ll automatically change the date of your booking to the new day on which your cruise ship calls at Le Havre.

– If your cruise ship arrives late at the Le Havre Cruise Terminal (for example, at 11am instead of 8am), don’t worry, we’ll adapt our Tour departure times to make it easier for you to come to our Tours.

– Finally, don’t forget that from now on, anyone with a reservation for one of our Tours (Bee Le Havre City Tour, Honfleur Tour or Deauville Tour) will automatically benefit from a brand-new, free BeeBus transfer service that will pick you up at 10:00 am (sharp) every day in front of the Cruise Terminal entrance and take you to downtown Le Havre (Place Perret). During the tourist period from April to October, except the days of privatization, the Bee Le Havre City Tour takes place in general in the afternoons at 2:30 pm and 3:30 pm (and the mornings of cruise ship call at 10:30 am, 11:30 am and 12:30 pm).

Where can I buy the tickets for the next City Tour departures?

You can buy your tickets directly on our website or directly in our Bee Le Havre Souvenirs Shop (located at 15 rue Robert de la Villehervé) or of course directly on the departure days from our bus stop (located at the “Place Perret” between the Volcano and the City Hall of Le Havre).

Can I buy my tickets directly on the bus (at the Place Perret stop)?

Yes you can, but on busy days we advise you to reserve your seats in advance directly on our website to be sure to get a seat or to go to our Souvenir Shop located next to our bus stop “Place Perret” (at 15 rue Robert de la Villehervé)

Payment Types?

You can pay online by Credit cards. You can pay at our bus stop by Cash or Credit cards.

What about refunds in case of cancellation?

Our refund policy Bee Le Havre is very simple: To cancel your reservation, you just have to send us your request by mail before your day of visit, you will be automatically refunded entirely on your bank card (without any justification to provide us).

But please, Important to read this advice: We would like to remind you that it is very important to use common sense when booking your tickets in advance on our website. For several years now, we have unfortunately been confronted with shameless people who hastily book their tickets in advance, only to ask us a few days later to cancel their booking, and then to make a new one online a few days later.. Please note that, although we pride ourselves on our commitment to you to always refund 100% of the amount paid, the banks charge us a substantial fee for each cancellation.

Therefore, if you value our service and would like us to continue to offer you benefits of this kind, please do not book in advance if you are unsure whether you will be able to visit us. In that case, please wait and buy your tickets on the day of your visit, when you’ll be at our Place Perret bus stop or in our Souvenir Shop. Of course, you run the risk of running out of tickets on the day of your visit, but it’s better than wasting all those bank charges.

We thank you in advance for your understanding and look forward to welcoming you soon in our BeeBus.

What happens if it starts to rain during the City Tour with the convertible bus?

Our City Tour is currently carried out with a yellow convertible minibus that is very popular with all passengers, but very narrow (only has seating on board). Therefore, this yellow convertible minibus does not allow to board the City Tour with a wheelchair. Moreover, it is a minibus so it does not have any luggage compartments. However, it is possible to safely leave your wheelchair with one of our team members on the Place Perret during your City Tour. We will be pleased to be able to safely accept passengers sitting in their wheelchairs on our City Tour in the coming years as soon as we have larger buses.

Do you allow animals?

For health and safety reasons, large animals are not accepted on the bus. We do, of course, accept pets accompanying our visually impaired passengers or small dogs accustomed to riding public transportation.
