I still don’t quite understand how DJ’s are making it all over the world. I get that it’s what is sort of happening in the world of popular music and has been for quite a while in the grand scheme of things but seriously, it does baffle me a little bit. Monkey Safari is unfortunately one of those bands that today of all the days have come under fire to my opinion, which is just an opinion. Remixes are remixes; it’s sort of a glorified way of saying it’s a re arrangement of a cover or something or other. I don’t know, rant over, they hold the audience in the palms of their hands – that’s right, there are two of them messing with knobs pressing play. Is it the magic of keeping a four to the floor beat going for half an hour that works? Fading tracks in and out of each other seamlessly with a button that beat matches? I sort of understand how that could be pretty thrilling, but wow. ANYWAY. Monkey Safari like I said show off some of their fantastically crafted remixes that they evidently put a lot of time into in a studio, and I can appreciate the amount of work that has gone in to that so a huge fair play to them for this set that ultimately entertains this eager group of punters this afternoon.

26 July 2022

August will see Monkey Safari put out their long-awaited Body Language Vol. 24. The 18-track affair is a deep dive into their own musical output as well as a testament to their alluring DJ style.

German pair Monkey Safari have become Get Physical mainstays over the years. In 2022, they have released a wealth of teaser tracks from this mix with each one showcasing a different side to their sound. After more than a decade of EPs and LPs on their own Hommage label they are still mining new musical ground and their 2021 album ‘Love Will Set U Free’ was the latest testament to that. This new mix is a further superb showcase of their signature DJ style and seductive musical output.

The mix is a broody one that takes you into a mesmeric world of classy, musical house. It is packed with originals and remixes from Monkey Safari starting with the alluring bell sounds and vocal cries of ‘Ceremony’ before moving on through the likes of their spine-tingling afro house remix of Fluida and then a lithe and airy remix of BLOND:ISH. After classy Monkey Safari material like ‘Universal Love’ and ‘W’ is a remix of George Morel’s classic ‘Let’s Groove’ that updates the tune with a fresh modern edge.

The disco depths of DJ Pierre feat. Chic Loren’s reworked classic ‘I Feel Love’ is followed by standout exclusive remix ‘Hausch’ which lifts the spirits on a wave of positive synth work, upbeat drums and summery vibes that are sure to get plenty of plays this summer and beyond. A faultless run of recently released singles including ‘Kami’, ‘Light Of Day’ and ‘Hi & Low’ then round out this most exquisite and sensitive selection.

Body Language Vol. 24. is another landmark entry into this long-running and influential DJ mix series. We caught up with the German sibling duo, Monkey Safari ahead of the release. Enjoy!

WWD: Hey both, thanks for taking the time to talk to us today, it’s great to speak to you. Where are you currently and how’s 2022 been so far?

Hello, yes always happy to. We are touring a lot right now and have a very packed festival schedule for the summer. I’m at the airport in Zurich right now interrupting my vacation and Sven just got back from New Zealand and Australia and we’re about to meet up in Izmir. 2022 is going very well for us so far, especially with the release of our upcoming Body Language album on Get Physical, we are very happy so far.

WWD: You’re both born and bred in Germany. What was it like growing up for you, there is obviously a vast music scene within the country, what were your earliest clubbing experiences?

We actually had a pretty normal and down to earth childhood. Halle, the city where we were born and grew up, has about 250k inhabitants and is therefore one of the smaller cities. The club scene there is not huge but very familiar. I think it’s the lack of bigger acts in smaller cities that makes people in general, and us in particular, creative. If you want to hear more famous artists or connect, you have to do the parties yourself. We have learned a lot in the process.

WWD: We’re here to discuss your forthcoming release titled Body Language Vol. 24. Massive congratulations is in order, it’s sounding fantastic! Can you tell us the inspiration behind it?

We had already successfully collaborated with Get Physical in the past. When a Body Language compilation came up, we were really excited and wanted to do something special. Many compilations are rather VAs with different artists that are more or less exclusive. We rather wanted to rummage through the huge back catalog of Get Physical and to create the compilation completely from originals and remixes by ourselves. I think that this has created a very good homogeneity even in listening.

WWD: Body Language Vol 24. Is your third release on Get Physical. What brought you guys and the label together?

Actually a remix request a few years ago. We knew Get Physical before of course but especially the concept of the last years convinced us to intensify the collaboration.

WWD: The release features some heavyweights within the industry such as DJ Pierre and Andhim. How did they come on board with this project?

This is due to the wonderful back catalog of Get Physical which has been filled with very good artists over the years. If you can get access to one or the other, it is of course a very exciting challenge. Of course, it was not easy to reinterpret titles that were already so successful, but it was a lot of fun and we are very happy with the result.

WWD: Have you got any dream collaborators you would like to work with in the future?

There are of course some, and there is also already a collaboration in planning. We better not reveal anything yet, then the surprise is bigger.

WWD: What is your creative process like when in the studio together? Have you any favourite bits of equipment you can’t do without?

The creative process is mostly characterized by chance. Especially with leads, it’s interesting when you have a melody and chase it through a randomizer again and again or change the rhythm until something comes out that you can’t even imagine. The Nord Lead 4 and Korg M1 are the most popular synths. Otherwise we try to let it flow as much as possible.

WWD: It’s been a turbulent couple of years but things are finally back to normal I’m very pleased to say. Where can our readers expect to see you over the next coming months?

We are still playing a longer tour in North America and various club and festival shows across Europe. A tour in South Africa is in the planning stage and then we’ll see where it takes us.

How To Book a Safari Tour with Monkey Adventures

Ol doinyo lengai

Embarking on your dream tour is just a few steps away. In this article, we'll walk you through the step-by-step process of securing your dream tour effortlessly. From choosing the perfect itinerary to finding the ideal accommodations,we'll walk you through the seamless process of reserving your spot on an unforgettable adventure with us!

If your are yet to plan out your journey and need help with it, be sure to check out our page on How to Plan A Safari in Tanzania - In 15 Easy Steps.

Let us then quickly dive in and figure out how you can easily book your tour with us today.

Step 1: Finding The Perfect Itinerary

The first step in planning your tour to Tanzania is to click on the Tanzania option located in the header of the website. By selecting this option, you will be seamlessly redirected to the dedicated Tanzania tours page. To jump to that page right now, please click here. This page serves as a gateway to a wide array of tour options available specifically in Tanzania.

Once you have landed on the Tanzania tours page, you will notice a range of useful filters that can help you refine your search. These filters allow you to customise your tour according to your preferences. You can start by selecting a desired starting date, specifying the size of your party, and setting the minimum and maximum duration of the tour. Additionally, if you have more specific preferences or requirements, you can choose tour features such as group or private tours, the great migration, or select specific national parks to further tailor the results to your liking.

As you apply these filters, the website will update the tour results section, displaying tours that match your selected criteria. In this results section, you will find a comprehensive list of available tours, each accompanied by the per-person prices. These prices are typically presented with low-priced ensuite accommodations, allowing you to get a sense of the tour's affordability and make an initial assessment of your options.

Feel free to explore the list of tours and evaluate the different offerings based on their itineraries, highlights, and prices. When a particular tour catches your interest, simply click on it, and a new tab will open, providing you with more detailed information about that specific tour.

If you are still facing trouble finding the perfect itinerary, please drop us an email and we will happily help you find your perfect itinerary.

Step 2: Finding The Right Accommodation

Once you have opened the tour page, you will be presented with a day-by-day quick summary of the tour's itinerary. This summary provides you with a clear overview of the activities, destinations, and experiences you can expect throughout the duration of the tour. Going through this summary will allow you to understand whether the tour will align with your interests and preferences.

Below the day-by-day summary, you will find further options to adjust your dates and party size, enabling you to fine-tune the tour according to your specific requirements. This flexibility ensures that the tour can be personalised to accommodate your preferred travel dates and the number of individuals in your group.

Additionally, on the tour page, you will come across pricing details that encompass different accommodation options. If the tour offers basic camping as an option, you will find prices associated with that choice. However, if you prefer a more comfortable and convenient experience, ensuite accommodations will be available. These ensuite accommodations are categorized into different options, typically labeled E1 to E5 or E7, denoting varying levels of accommodation standards and pricing tiers. As you move from E1 to E5 (or E7), the prices increase, indicating a higher level of comfort and amenities. To understand how these accommodations are categorised, check out our guide to safari accommodation classification system.

To proceed with your booking, you can select the specific accommodation option that best suits your preferences and budget. Once you have made your choice selections, you may reach out to our team to check the availability of the selected accommodations. They will assist you in verifying the availability and provide you with any additional information or clarification you may need to work towards finalising your booking.

Step 3. Provisional Booking Stage

Once you select an itinerary and accommodations and travel dates are fixed and inform us of your interest in proceeding with the tour plan, we check availability of accommodations and airlines (domestic) for your dates as per tour plan and if they are available, we temporarily block them for a period of about 5-7 days.

If any of the accommodations or flights that are part of your tour plan are not available, we share alternative accommodations and flights that are close to the price range and location originally chosen by you. After receiving your confirmation we will check the availability, and block the ones that are available. This process can take a few iterations depending on how busy your travel period is and how much in advance you are planning.

After we are able to block all accommodations (that are approved by you) required for your tour plan, we share the tour summary in a mail that includes itinerary, accommodations, meal plan for each day inclusions, exclusions, special notes, cancellation policy, payment details and payment links.

You will be required to pay a deposit within 3 days (It can be less for bookings close to travel date). Deposit required can range between 30-60% of the total booking amount depending on the itinerary and accommodations. You can pay the deposit by wire transfer (we offer bank accounts in multiple countries/currencies) or card (surcharge of 5% applies).

Four poster bed

Step 4. Confirming the Booking

If an advance payment or deposit is made within the given window, we proceed with the next steps. For card payments, clients get instant, auto confirmation mail about the deposit payment. For wire transfer, it can take 1-3 working days for the funds to reach us depending on your country. If you are paying deposit by wire transfer, we request you to share the wire transfer receipt or screenshot that shows our account details and the amount wired. We consider the funds paid through wire transfer as processed after the funds reflect in our bank account.

Once we receive the confirmation that your advance payment has been received (which is instant for card payments and 1-3 working days for wire transfers), within one working day, we will proceed to inform accommodations and airlines that its a confirmed booking and ask them to change the status from provisional reservation to confirmed reservation. (Our reservation team then continues to work with each of the accommodation partners to arrange deposit payments required as per our contracts with them to confirm the reservation.)

Within 3 working days after receiving the confirmation on advance payment, we create an online voucher that sumarizes your tour details that includes itinerary, accommodations, room configuration, meal plan for each day, pickup/drop off details, briefing/feedback timings, inclusions, exclusions, special notes, cancellation policy, deposit payment details and balance payment links.

We send the link to this voucher by email along with requesting information like your passport copies and any other missing information. We request you to go through the voucher carefully and let us know if there are any corrections to be done or additional information to be added. Along with voucher link we also send some important information like what to bring for tour etc.

Domestic Flight tickets (if included in your tour) will be shared about a week before your travel dates.

Remaining balance for the tour can be paid in multiple ways. If opting to pay through wire transfer, it must be paid two weeks before the tour starts. Balance payment can be also made with a card with a 5% surcharge. Or, if you wish to pay in cash, you will have to pay in USD notes that have been printed after 2009. Cash will be collected by the team that will meet you before your safari in Tanzania.

If you need to cancel the tour for any reason, you need to send us a mail. The cancellation policy(as shared by email during the booking process) will be applicable based on the number of days between your cancellation request mail date and day 1 of your tour. If there is any refund applicable, it will be processed to your bank account or your card (same mode of payment you opted to make deposit payment)

Our online customer support team will be available to respond to your mails and messages till you arrive in Africa. Once you arrive for your safari tour, our ground operations team will meet you and you can contact either them or the online customer support team for any assistance required.

We hope to see you in Africa!

For help, support or advice for your upcoming adventures!

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
  • The interval in the movement of trains in rush hour is  90 seconds .

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Un tourism | bringing the world closer.

Unwto 2021: a year in review, 2021: tourism united, resilient and determined.

2021 has been a year of learning and adapting for tourism. It has proven that only by working together can the sector overcome challenges and embrace opportunities.

Gathering the global tourism community and developing concrete actions, UNWTO has led tourism’s response with the vision of not only restarting, but doing so in a more inclusive, innovative and sustainable way.

Jan

January - March

As global tourism faced up to a second year of unprecedented crisis , UNWTO began 2021 by counting the cost so far . At the same time, however, the emergence of vaccines brought hope . The Global Tourism Crisis Committee met to explore what this meant for safe travel and the restart of tourism, while the announcement of the winners of the UNWTO Global Start-up Competition recognized the role culture and creativity will play in tourism’s restart and recovery .

Feb

April - June

Collaboration and innovation were the focusat the start of the second quarter. UNWTO partnered with IATA on a new Destination Tracker to give both tourists and destinations clear, impartial and trusted advice. And a new Start-up Competition was launched to find the best ideas for accelerating rural development through tourism. In May, the launch of the Best Tourism Villages by UNWTO generated significant interest from Members in every global region.

Mar 2021

July - September

As destinations in Europe welcomed tourists back for the peak summer season, UNWTO highlighted the role of  digital solutions for the safe restart of the sector. But UNWTO also looked ahead, to a more sustainable future , working with key partners to  reduce plastic waste and consumption across every part of the sector. Together, we celebrated World Tourism Day around the theme of Tourism for Inclusive Growth, a message of solidarity and determination that was echoed on a global scale.

April 2021

October - December

The final quarter of 2021 began with cautious optimism as UNWTO’s Barometer showed signs of improvement in tourist arrival numbers during the summer season in the northern hemisphere. A new partnership with Netflix will bring the message of tourism as a driver of opportunity to a massive global audience, while in November, UNWTO was tourism’s voice at COP26 and signatories to the landmark Glasgow Declaration keep growing. Finally, against the backdrop of the UNWTO General Assembly , the programme of work for the coming biennium was approved and 77% of Members voted to secure a second mandate for the Secretary-General from 2022-2025.

Growing and Moving Forward

UNWTO brings together political leaders from across the globe to deliver a strong, coordinated response. Governments, destinations, fellow UN agencies and international organizations met at key international events joining efforts to rethink tourism. Institutional coordination has proven crucial to find the solutions that build a smarter, greener and safer tourism.

Leaving Nobody Behind

The pledge to ‘ leave nobody behind ’ means nobody should miss out : Not now as we support the sector in the face of crisis, and not in the future as tourism starts again. Tourism is a proven driver of equality and opportunity. And that’s why we turn words into actions, delivering guidelines and action plans , to ensure everyone can enjoy the opportunities tourism brings.

A Shared Vision

Advancing the transformation of the tourism sector , partnerships are the only way forward. In 2021, UNWTO signed agreements with international organizations and the private sector to step our vision for the future of tourism: innovation , education , sustainability , green investment , rural development.

World Tourism Barometer: September 2022

UNWTO updates World Tourism Barometer and reports international tourism back to 60% of pre-pandemic levels from January to July 2022

unwto tourism highlights 2022

Below are excerpts from the September 2022 release of the UNWTO Tourism Barometer :

  • The steady recovery reflects strong pent-up demand for international travel, especially in the months of June and July which are part of the Northern Hemisphere summer season. The easing or lifting of travel restrictions in an increasing number of countries also contributed to boost results.
  • International tourist arrivals almost tripled (+172%) in January-July 2022 compared to the same period of 2021. Numbers climbed from -64% in January 2022 (versus 2019) to -28% in July, the strongest month since the start of the pandemic.
  • Asia and the Pacific (+165%) saw arrivals more than double in the first seven months of 2022, though they remained 86% below 2019 levels.
  • The ongoing recovery can also be seen in outbound tourism spending from major source markets. Expenditure from France was at -12% in January-July 2022 compared to 2019 while spending from Germany stood at -14%. International tourism spending remained at -10% in Belgium, -23% in Italy and -26% in the United States.
  • The uncertain economic environment seems to have reversed prospects for a return to pre-pandemic levels in the near term. 61% of UNWTO Panel of Experts now see a potential return of international arrivals to 2019 levels in 2024 or later while those indicating a return to pre-pandemic levels in 2023 has diminished (27%) compared to the May survey (48%).

TOURISM TRENDS 2022

unwto tourism highlights 2022

11 Aug TOURISM TRENDS 2022

The situation for tourism remains rather unusual as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The crisis has marked a significant change for everyone, and above all for tourism, one of sectors hit hardest by the virus. 2020 was the year in which international tourism came to a near-complete standstill, and the only alternatives were domestic and local tourism.

2021 has seen some improvements, but only in a very subtle way as restrictions are still in place and many countries keep their borders fully or partially closed.

It is difficult to make an estimate for 2022 as it is not known how the pandemic will evolve. However, it is possible to talk about the new tourism trends that are likely to emerge over the coming year: – International travel with restrictions still maintained by both destinations and airlines in order to offer 100% security to the consumer.

– Reinforcement of COVID-19 testing; two years after the pandemic, COVID testing will still be in place as a preventive measure. – Conscious travel will be advocated. Travel to more distant destinations, but with prolonged durations of stay, as consumers look to enjoy as much of each place they visit as possible. – Green travel. Climate change is a problem that is present and growing. Consumers now are much more responsible and aware of the reality they live in on daily basis.

– A new trend is the “ed-ventures”. It is about combining education and holidays for the youngest members of the family. While adults may need to telework or attend meetings, their children can be doing workshops and learning in a playful way.
